Fake Voltron Holt Family Headcanon!

The Holt's went on family vacations every year and alternated between going back to their roots in Italy, and a road trip across America.

During the trips to Italy they met distant family members and were shown all the joys of Italian food and architecture. They would rent a cottage just outside Naples and use it as their base to travel around. They hired a nice car, ate at nice family-owned restaurants, and had at least one night at the theatre.

When they travelled across America it was a lot more cheap and cheerful. Motels, roadside diners, trips to zoos and hokey tourist traps. Matt and Pidge always ended up sharing a bed which each night either ended with a fight over blankets or a giggling fit that their parents couldn't get them to stop for over an hour.

Going on Patreon & AO3 Hiatus

I’m not sure anyone is going to see this, but wanted to post it publicly somewhere.

Starting on Feb. 27 I will be going on hiatus from posting on both Patreon and AO3.  I plan to be back in April, but things can always change. In a very quick nutshell I’m beyond burnt out of writing and sharing my works, have a lot of personal things going on between my life and job and just don’t have any more energy or passion for my writing. I’m taking a break and hoping it’ll help.

If you wanted to read anything on my Patreon during this hiatus time (at minimum through April 1) you will need to join prior to Feb. 27 as due to the platform’s new subscription services no new users can join when the page is on vacation mode. Stories on AO3 will remain as always available for reading at any time.

Fun Fact for Voltron Au

It is confirmed thanks to @palidinus​ that Yun and Shiro are pretty much the Space Dads, so they obviously need TLC and a lot more R & R. So, whenever Shiro and Yun need that time to just get away from everything for that much NEEDED break, and if Lance or Keith have really pushed their buttons, both paladins are in charge of babysitting Li. Yun even gives his baby boy permission to be a bit more chaotic like his cousin, Jade, within reason.

And Li gets to rate them as who he likes better as his babysitter-hands down it’s often Lance. With Keith, Li often calls him Mean Kitty and never learns how to properly pronounce Keith’s name, it’s always ‘Mean Kitty’.

Pidge even records all of the shenanigans to laugh about later.

Also fun fact, Li often doesn’t call the Lions by their colors. Example is Red, whom he calls Big Fire Kitty. Blue is often called Water Kitty, Green is dubbed Pretty Flora Kitty, Yellow is Big Sand Kitty, and Black? Black earned the honorary title of Mama Kitty.

As much as i hate and reject the s8-post cannon… i can’t deny one of my favourite klance tropes occurs during that span of time.

Lance waking up cold and sweating in the middle of the night, trapped in a mundane life, aching with years of unresolved trauma and dormant adrenaline.

Something in his body just knows. That this isn’t right. When his friends told him to give himself time, that adjusting to normality wouldn’t be easy, he’d laughed. Adapting is what he does. But he’s not normal, how could he possibly be normal after everything that happened to him?

He thinks back to a time when all he wanted was a quiet life like this. But it’s hollow, and he feels more alone than he ever did when they were trapped in space. It’s not some grand realisation, really. But a quiet, resolved awakening. A primal acknowledgment that snags his soul to heel.

It was always him. (I told you so).

Keith is passing through his system, dark clad and steaming with resolve. A man who knows himself, truly. Who did the hard parts of personal growth while Lance was still pretending to be happy. Keith was forged in fire and suffering, but Lance’s suffering had only gained him grief.

And Keith answers when he calls. Lance’s heart pulses, aches more than just for his face. But for his life. He finds himself insurmountably jealous of Keith. And he finds himself utterly foolish for ever trying to hold him back. When he left Voltron, and when he came back. Everything in between. Keith made hard decisions, took impossibly dangerous leaps of faith, put everyone he loved at risk and thrust his own life into god’s hands like some fucked up sort of yo-yo.

Lance answers the doorbell when it rings. And he’s there. He could scream until his face went numb, drown himself alone in the dark, run to the tethered edges of the known universe - but he would never escape Keith. The bond their lions shared, neither pilot would ever be untangled. A sore mess, flashes of red, black and blue. He sees the lion for a moment, flashing in the back of his mind’s eye. Keith became the most formidable leader he’d ever known.

And they take vacations down to sample that countryside living, sure. When it suits them. But Lance and Keith, neck and neck, could never have been normal.

And they could never have been apart.

I'm currently rereading Shadow and Bone (+ Six of Crows) and I am always looking for more good dark fantasy/historical fantasy books to read so book recs are always welcome! I also am a huge fan of the Percy Jackson series and Trials of Apollo (by Rick Riordan), though I'm usually more of a gritty/dark fantasy fan (like Game of Thrones)!

I have three dogs and two cats!😺🐶

I know how to play the piano, though I haven't done that in a while because things have been chaotic for me, but I'd like to start playing regularly again in my winter vacation.

I have worn glasses since I was 5 years old and have terrible eyesight without them (and some days with them, lol, so bear with me).

My friends and I are doing a DnD campaign every Sunday, where I play as a half-elf rogue named Aeryn (he/him). I'm adoring this adventure so far, it's so fun!!!

About my Writing!🏹⌛

I write fictional works mostly in the genre of fantasy (high fantasy/epic fantasy/dark fantasy/historical fantasy/urban fantasy, etc. You name it!) and science fiction (space opera/cyberpunk/superhero, etc).

My works usually revolve around themes such as epic quests, secrets, adventure, rebels fighting an oppressive system, sibling bonds, acceptance/respect, outcasts, and much, much more! I love fluff and whump equally, and though my stories tend to focus on serious topics (or at least darker/heavier themes) within a fantasy/sci-fi setting, I like to have a good bit of humor, lighthearted fun, and comedy to my stories to lighten up the mood!

Keith does not test well.

His mild ADHD and Autism intensify times 50 any time he takes a test.

It was useful at the garrison, when his heightened observance and fidgeting caused hi to be a more instinctual pilot.

Sitting in a silent room while filling out answers to question that have completely vacated his brain never blows over well for him.

Shiro should have expected this, he's Keith's parental figure and knows him better than anyone. So, yes. This is all his fault.

Keith taps his pencil repeatedly on the desk. Allura has moved blank white desks into the training room so that the paladins can have an 'ideal atmosphere.'

This is supposed to be a survey of their reactions in a 'mildly stressful environment' and 'assess their ability to retain information.'

Welp, Keith has already failed.

He can't do anything but stare at the first question.

If faced by a Zeaxeiks beast, what is the most logical response?

Keith can't even pronounce that. Throw him into the field with one of these, and all of his information will come flooding back.

Yeah, why don't they do that? Keith can't possibly be expected to function in a room so silent and big and empty. If there's a phobia that's the opposite of claustrophobia, he has it. He doesn't mind being in places like this when there's things going on around him, things for him to fixate on to calm his hypersensitive brain or things for him to fight, but large quiet rooms always stir unease deep in his chest.

Keith can't take it anymore. He slams his pencil down and stands abruptly. He can’t help the growl that escapes him. His chair screeches on the polished floor before crashing down onto its side.

Is is weird that Keith has the urge to apologize to it?

Everyone is staring at him as he yells, "THAT'S IT. I am REVOLTING. Do you hear me? DAMN THIS, see how well you can Voltron if I GO AN A GODDAMN STRIKE."

He realizes that the testing/training room's doors were locked as soon as the paladins entered. Now that he thinks about it, Allura most likely did that with Keith specifically in mind. Panic fills his throat and lungs. He really, really hates it in here.

He's considering climbing one of the walls and/or throwing a fit when he hears another chair grind across the ground.

Lance shoots him a wide grin before shouting at the ceiling, "YEAH! I didn't agree to being a paladin so that I can take MORE STUPID TESTS!"

Keith feels his heart warm and bubble over with affection. Only Lance would recognize his nervous fidgets. They've had long talks about this before, Keith doesn't doubt that Lance will help him climb that wall if they aren't let out soon.

They both know that there is a valid reason behind this assessment, but Keith has already accepted that he's going to get a failing grade. He hates not doing anything with himself, his body is turning to lumpy mush like a sack of potatoes after sitting for so long.

Lance starts racing around the room yelling various profanities in various languages, and Keith gives a bark of laughter before joining in.

The other paladins are smiling at them, and Pidge is the first to discard her paper.

"Ugh, fine, I guess I'm not getting anything done with all this noise. The questions are repetitive anyway. This is not as fun as I hoped it would be."

She joins in, and now Korean, Italian, and Spanish curses echo throughout the room.

They end up trashing the entire room before Allura lets them out with a glare.

Keith lowers his voice and leans over to Lance.

"Huh. I guess all we have to do to escape the Galra is piss them off."

He turns to Allura.

"Never lock me in a room again. I will not hesitate to tear down the door and start singing annoying pop songs nonstop."

Lance moves behind him and place an arm around his shoulders.

"Yep. And I'll be on a murder spree because apparently I'm not out of the overprotective boyfriend phase."

OHHHHHH GOD. THE FIRST ONE I THINK OF IS THE LAST HOURS (E-rated, Merlin/Arthur Pendragon, BBC Merlin) WHERE THEY DIE IN THE END BC THEY ARE ON VACATION IN AUSTRALIA WHEN AN ASTEROID HITS EUROPE AND THERE'S A FIRESTORM COMING. IT IS ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE READ THO. IT'S A FAVE OF MINE.

I do wanna say that Bereavement (T-rated, Sirius Black & Harry Potter, Harry Potter) where Harry, instead of Sirius, falls through the veil and No Matter What Happens, You'll Return To Me (T-rated, Porsche & Porchay + Porsche/Kinn + Porchay/Kim, Kinnporsche (TV)) where Kim dies bc of a random act of cruelty by a stranger and Porchay overdoses on sleeping pills and it's all in Porsche's POV,,, those are very strong competitors for the #1 spot of angsty endings.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Ohhhhh god this one is harder ASJSDJ,,,, if I'm picking a fic with angst, Up In Smoke (T-rated, Korra/Asami Sato, Avatar: Legend of Korra) has a satisfying ending after a group of people burn down the Sato residency and Asami grieves,,,, but if I'm picking a fic that is fluff and has an ending I like, then Pulled From The Wreckage (No Rating, Aziraphale/Crowley, Good Omens (TV)) because I'm love them.

Do you get hate on fics?

Oh most definitely. It's happened. Either some mfer didn't read the tags I got up and they got something smart to say,,,, or is a ship hater🥱,,,, or leaves poorly masked constructive criticism,,,,,

When I do think of AO3 hate I've gotten, I do think about the time I posted a Bellamy/Clarke & Clarke/Lexa vee-relationship poly fic from The 100 tv show where both shipping fandoms showed their own asses in the comments. (And I would do it again to laugh at them.) Or I think about the guy who came onto my Merthur fic where Arthur had terminal cancer and he practiced safe consensual sex (like some of the most consensual I've ever written) and called Arthur 'a whore' because it wasn't enough Merthur sex going on in my fic??? Like you gotta be out of your goddamn mfing mind to do that nonsense.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I got 505 explicit rated fics and they're 99.9% full of smut! Mostly the smut is between OTPs/ships I like, but sometimes it's just because! I gonna recommend three smut fics of mine just for shits and grins:

Loki and Sylvie wind down, hopping from apocalypse to apocalypse, by trying to kick each other's ass.

Hold Me Close (Padmé Amidala/Sabé & Padmé Amidala/Eirtaé/Rabé/Sabé/Saché/Yané, Star Wars, 1000 words)

Padmé has no immediate recollection of the Festival of Light, long after dusk, save for the matter of too much scentwine — purplish in quality and strong with its bright, floral aroma. She wakes among her handmaidens, come morning light, savoring their conversation and heat and presence.

Not very often! But they do happen! I've done J. Robert Oppenheimer/Barbie (BARBENHEIMER!) with An Old Friend and Part II Ellie Williams meeting HBO TV series!Ellie Williams with Me, You, Us and Prince Charming from Disney's Snow White/Prince Phillip from Disney's Sleeping Beauty with Love's First Kiss and Emily from Corpse Bride/Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas with Butterfly Bush and then I did something kinda cool in The Autopsy of Jane Doe/The Witch crossover with Long, Long Ago!

Have you ever had a fic translated?

I have! I have had a couple of bad experiences with people asking to translate my fics so I'm a little wary now but,,,,, yeah there's a few.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Me and @glove23 have cowritten fics! It's So Goodbye Until Tomorrow! There's also The Lie Of Living, The Truth In Wanting! I'm a terrible and temperamental cowriter sometimes, I'm sorry ☹️

What’s your all time favourite ship?

SHRUGS. IT CAN CHANGE OVER TIME. I'm gonna say Peter Pan/Wendy Darling though. Easily you're gonna get me with that.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

If you were ever holding out for an update on Fate's Design, Facing the Darkness, or Game, Set, Match then oops.

What are your writing strengths?

SHRUGGGSSSS. I just think through experience probably and writing as much as I have, I've mastered some kind of writing style? Or at least my rhythm in it? I know I put a lot of detail into what I'm writing.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I could be doing more with expanding on parts and structurally setting scenes up. Like I can SEE where I can improve and I wanna.

Eh. I've done it.
