omg I just realized that the visitor that Pahsiv (vishap? ;p) keeps mentioning is lost in translation in EN but it's SO GOOD. I specifically kept the tone markings here just to prove my point.
Pahsiv keeps talking about "that visitor", which is rendered in the Chinese text as [那位來客].
[那位來客] is pronounced "nà wèi lái kè"
Neuvillette's name in Chinese is [那維萊特]
[那維萊特] is pronounced "Nà wéi lái tè"
Has Pahsiv just been mispronouncing his name so she ends up saying visitor instead? We know she has limited usage of language so its not a far stretch

so anyway i like to listen to "i won't say i'm in love" from the disney movie "hercules" and think of apollo being meg... and trucy, ema and beanix being the muses, and it's obvious who herc is lol (klavier!)
and then youtube is like "you should listen to 'friend like me' from the hit disney movie 'aladdin'" and i'm like ok and then i'm imagining like beanix is the genie to apollo, and he has trucy doing all this magic while pulling playing cards out of his sleeves and whatnot.
and then i remembered that "the princess and the frog" exists as a disney movie and it was great. i really liked "friends on the other side" so i listen to that and i'm like. facilier is zak but as shadi enigmar and he's inviting phoenix and kristoph in to tell their fortunes, with phoenix being naveen and kristoph, lawerence. "won't you shake a poor sinner's hand, boys?" the way zak screwed up both their lives really resonates with faciliers energy here!! and the cards!! they could be like poker/tarot cards!!!! fuck!!!!!! and the friends on the other side are magnifi, valant and thalassa!
and that's why i should learn to animate so I can make all these animatics AND MORE

It is so hard to put into words just how much I fucking adore Dragon's Dogma 2 without just devolving into mad rambling. So I'll try and keep it brief.
My only real genuine points against the game is that the controls for spellcasting can feel unwieldy (not being able to toggle a more precise aiming method like you could in the first really bites,) and that most of the soundtrack is missing that little something something that made the first game's soundtrack so iconic.
And Capcom's insistence on adding useless microtransactions to the storepage purely to prey on people with poor impulse control is a blemish on the game that can't quite be shaken off. On my PS5 there's always the 500 riftcrystals listing for $0.99 is always gonna be staring at me on my home page and it's ugly and I hate looking back at it.
Everything else is fucking immaculate though.
It's not for everyone and I'm glad for it. I'm so fucking relieved that they didn't try to "fix" Dragon's Dogma for a "modern audience." It's everything that made the first game peak fiction with some minor adjustments here and there to really focus in on what the first was going for.
It's hard to recommend it to someone who isn't familiar with DD's funny little tricks, especially at the high price tag, but if you're willing to deal with some wack ass shit and really give it the time it's asking; I can almost guarantee you it's gonna hit just right.

one time my very indulgent beloved took the friend group on one of those night time ghost tours, because we were in a Very Historic Very Haunted Southern Town. i say "indulgent" because he is not a ghost guy. anyway, it's late at night, a little chilly, everything besides the ghost tour is quiet, everybody but my beloved is going ooohh and ahhh at exploitive true crime etc type stories. with the patience of a saint, for like two hours, my beloved says nothing. the tour guide is yammering on about shadow people and a house where a banker's son got killed by the mob.
pensive, hands shoved in his pockets, listlessly kicking the haunted (OooooOOooO!) cobblestones, my beloved says, in a perfectly neutral whisper of a voice, "the real horror is that we're standing on an alleged mass grave of murdered slaves, but talking about one rich white boy and maybe, what, three property owners over the course of a century who had a few nightmares? the real horror is people and how we can treat other people."
and he didn't mean to be overheard and he wasn't trying to be a killjoy or make a point, but he said it at one of those perfect conversational lulls, thereby chastising everyone in earshot and it was SUCH A MOODKILLER, 10/10.
i never checked the yelp reviews for the tour but I know in my heart of hearts that even if they never posted it, somebody typed up a review that was like, "was implicitly scolded for being gross by an Ambiguously Ethnic Man with beard. do not recommend."
and this is the energy I want for my fictional sabor latino reluctant necromancer character: man who's not trying to be a dick about it but who really thinks you're focused on the wrong thing here

would you appreciate a ctb song rec because darkness at noon by ALA.NI is literally a spirit and zelda tragic breakup song
Ooooo I love a good tragic ballad. I haven't talked in story yet about Spirit's break-up, but I think you captured how rough it was for him. I can imagine this from his perspective, especially this line:
We agreed that it's just no use in loving me
We agreed to never meet again
Ooof. I am so excited to start diving into post-war Spirit because he... well, he has Capital-I-Issues.

I was wondering why my little Covid diary memes had gotten more attention than I expected until I noticed that Tumblr put both of them as the first two posts you see in the coronavirus tag under their "Things we care about" section....
