It's so funny to me that Pathologic classic has been retroactively labelled as a walking simulator on steam bc like yeah technically it is I guess, but imagine looking for your typical short and sweet, low stress, story focused walking sim game and ending up in the 60+ hour, occasionally rage inducing, "it's a complicated Russian novel" plague game where people frequently throw knives directly into your skull with impeccable aim.
LIFE ETERNAL, the atmospheric walking simulator game about a necromancer raising his dead lord, is coming to Steam on December 27th!
Wish list it here!!
The game will still be free, but being on Steam, it has the added addition of achievements! Did you read all the books in the tower? Well, now you can AND brag to your friends with a shiny achievement!
Though the game is short, it has spawned a lot of ideas where I could take the story farther. So if you want to see what ultimately spawned Forevermore, please check out Life Eternal!
Not to sound like an uncritical gamer with a Twitter checkmark, but it feels like, since it came out, major gaming outlets are looking for reasons to be unsatisfied with Still Wakes the Deep.
Which is to say, for a conglomerate of media centers that barely kick up a fuss about half-made games being delivered to the general population, "this game didn't need monsters" and "the monster encounters fall short" doesn't feel... honest?
insane that more than any other character (except for maybe dawn and of course both Ediths) Milton haunts tf out of that house. At the start of the game, when your first able to start interacting with your surroundings, his missing poster is the first thing you can find. His crown/royalty motif is passed onto lewis. The separation of the castle from the rest of the house. The lack of an ending date on his portrait. The vagueness of his “game” (just being a simple flip book) leaving an unnerving void — no satisfaction or answer compared to the others. His drawings are in all the hidden crawlspaces and passages, no matter how blocked off or inaccessible they are. HE has been everywhere long before Edith. He’s still there.
DeepMind posted a paper on training simulated robots to play soccer (& translating that to the real world).
The part I liked best: they had to penalize the robots for falling down, or they would "learn to roll on the ground towards the ball to knock it into the goal, rather than walking and kicking."

Game is out! Explore a funky alien world with Doctor Yakov Voldritch. Meet some funny little bunnies, doggo worms and even some horror. It's a laid back adventure game with only goal is to chill with some aliens.
Damn Brainiac really showed off his ability to gaslight (his own daughter), gatekeep (the entire kryptonian empire), and girlboss (absolutely bodying clark) this episode.
