*Knock knock*
"Hmm, I wonder who that could be? A fairy? Or a walrus perhaps?"
*opens door*
"Life sized bottle of vanilla extract?!"

This month, Cher and Lauren pitch each other on shows Tumblr should be obsessed with but isn't (yet). But first, we have to have *the* debate: fairy or walrus?

Since a walrus is real, you'll have a clearer idea imagining how stressful dealing with it would be. Unlike with the fairy that's full of unknowns and you can only give up halfway and leave things up to fate, seeing a walrus at your doorstep would demand concrete plans from you.
Do I shoo it away?? Do I report it to the dorm guard?? What if it dies outside. I live in a tropical country, will it die from the heat??? Should I put it in water??? We don't have a bath tub, where I'm gonna get a basin large enough to fit a walrus. Should I just leave the shower running for it??? Do I call the zoo or something??? I don't even know any nearby zoos

You know had the walrus and fairy debate happened in the early 1900s instead of our time, Harry Houdini and Arthur Conan Doyle would have possibly come to blows over it.

The thing about the fairy and walrus debate is that if a fairy shows up at your door, that just means the universe is more expansive than previously anticipated. If a walrus shows up at your door, the rules of the universe as you know them are fundamentally called into question. I think in general, if a fairy shows up at your door you’ve probably just found yourself in an intrusion fantasy. Whereas if a walrus shows up at your door, you’re inching dangerously close to cosmic horror territory. With a walrus.

It's hard keeping up with memes when you're a fairy, and also a walrus. She doesn't know what's going on but she's pretty sure people are inviting her to knock on their door

walrus and fairy would be an epic coordinated costume set for trick-or-treating

The question shouldn't be whether a walrus or a fairy would be more surprising. The question should be whether a platypus with or without a fedora knocking on your door is more surprising.
