Sometimes, I need a bit of solace. They comfort me...
Characters: Námo, Irmo, Nienna
Words: 234
Warnings: Námo is a workaholic
Tumblr media
“You work too much,” Nienna chided softly and let her diaphanous arms slide around the sturdy, stiff shoulders of her oldest brother.
“There is much to be done,” came the laconic answer, but Námo took the steaming cup his brother nudged against those hands that unerringly wielded the flaming sword of justice with a grateful smile.
“A concoction of your wife’s?” he asked distractedly as the vessel disappeared under the heavy hood of his robe.
The pleased sigh of relaxation and solace that escaped him as soon as the hot, soothing beverage flooded his tongue with aromatic memories of simpler times was an answer in itself.
“She sends her love,” Irmo smiled and sat down at his brother’s side. “We are worried about you—Do you need our help?”
Námo wanted to refute and decline, but he simply took another sip of the healing drink instead.
“Maybe,” he finally admitted softly. “Eru’s grace, I really needed this! Thank you!”
“We know,” Nienna said with self-evident empathy, leaning her veiled head against his steadfast form. “We always know, and you can count on us.”
Humming softly, Námo drained his cup—he already felt much invigorated by both his siblings’ caring presence and the indescribably delicious potion they had brought for him.
“To work then,” he laughed, confident that Nienna and Irmo would follow him as he slid down the bleak hallways of his ever-shifting realm.

Recipe 1: Festive Citrus Delight:
This vibrant mulled wine spice blend combines the zesty flavors of citrus fruits with the warmth of traditional spices. To create this festive delight, start with a base of cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise. Then, add the zest of an orange, a lemon, and a grapefruit for a burst of citrus goodness. Allow the spices and citrus zest to infuse in your favorite red wine along with a touch of honey or maple syrup for sweetness. Simmer gently to let the flavors meld together, and serve warm with a garnish of fresh orange slices. The result is a tangy and invigorating mulled wine that will invigorate your holiday celebrations.
Recipe 2: Spiced Apple Cider Infusion:
For a twist on the classic mulled wine, try this spiced apple cider infusion. Begin by simmering a mixture of apple cider and your favorite red wine. To spice things up, add cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, and a sprinkle of ground ginger. Enhance the fruity flavors with sliced apples and a drizzle of caramel syrup. Let the cider and wine blend together over low heat, allowing the spices to permeate the mixture. The result is a comforting and aromatic mulled wine that combines the sweetness of apples with the richness of red wine. Serve it warm in mugs garnished with cinnamon sticks and apple slices for a cozy and festive touch.
Recipe 3: Tropical Twist:
Transport your taste buds to a tropical paradise with this exotic mulled wine spice blend. Begin by combining your favorite red wine with a blend of traditional spices like cinnamon and cloves. To add a touch of the tropics, infuse the mixture with slices of fresh pineapple, a few sprigs of fresh mint, and a splash of coconut rum. Let the flavors meld together over low heat, allowing the pineapple to release its sweetness and the mint to impart a refreshing note. The result is a unique and invigorating mulled wine that combines the warmth of traditional spices with the bright flavors of the tropics. Serve it warm with a garnish of pineapple wedges and a sprinkle of fresh mint leaves for a truly festive experience.
Recipe 4: Herbal Elegance:
For a sophisticated and herb-infused mulled wine, try this recipe that combines classic spices with fragrant herbs. Start by simmering your favorite red wine with cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise. To elevate the flavors, add a handful of fresh rosemary sprigs, a few crushed juniper berries, and a pinch of dried lavender flowers. Let the mixture gently infuse over low heat, allowing the herbal notes to marry with the spices. The result is a fragrant and elegant mulled wine with layers of complexity and a touch of floral sophistication. Serve it warm in stemless wine glasses, garnished with a sprig of rosemary, for a visually appealing and aromatic treat.
Recipe 5: Chocolatey Indulgence:
For those with a sweet tooth, this chocolatey mulled wine recipe is a decadent treat that will delight your senses. Begin by combining your favorite red wine with a blend of traditional spices such as cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. To add a luxurious touch, stir in a generous amount of dark chocolate chips or chunks. The heat from the wine will melt the chocolate, infusing the beverage with a rich and velvety texture. Let the mixture simmer gently, allowing the flavors to meld together and the chocolate to fully melt. The result is a luscious and indulgent mulled wine that combines the warmth of spices with the luxuriousness of chocolate. Serve it warm in mugs, and if desired, top each serving with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of grated chocolate for an extra touch of decadence. Sip and savor this chocolatey delight as you cozy up by the fire during your holiday celebrations.

I HAVE JUST HAD AN EXPERIENCE
So I'm outside putting cozies (rags and duct tape) on the faucets and it's starting to snow, and a hummingbird comes up and is all up in my shit, so I'm like "okay boss, one refill on sugar water coming right up."
So I take down the hummingbird feeder, and the little dude comes and lands on it while it's in my hand. It keeps flitting away and then coming back to see if it is somehow refilled now. Zero apparent fear of me (it might be the hummingbird who has nested in my back yard the last couple years, or one of its offspring, but at any rate it seems to know that I refill the sugar water, and am generally on its side).
I can't WAIT to put the feeder back up, but I have to wait for the sugar juice to cool down a bit first.

Small Update
Hi, guys... First things first, I am so sorry for suddenly disappearing on everyone after the last update for this story in late November. I've spent the last week trying to figure out the best way to word this, but it's still a bit difficult for me. It's a bit of a long post, so I'm adding a cut here to let you keep scrolling if you'd like, no worries! TLDR: Story update(s) expected within the next two weeks ^_^
December was great! A little rough, but I actually did a daily drawing challenge on my main account and had a lot of fun right up until New Years. Then January happened, and uh - Things didn't go great. I really don't want to get into detail, and I'd hate to make anyone feel even the slightest bit uncomfortable, but I unfortunately went through something that completely wrecked my ability to trust and feel safe around people larger and stronger than me.
By the time I was able to get out of that warped state of mind, months had passed? I genuinely feel like I just blinked, but here we are at the end of March now. Time flew by, just like that. Anyway... I didn't want my experience to seep into my writing. At all. And now I'm feeling a lot more confident that I can actually do that again.
So, hopefully within the next two weeks we'll be back on track ^_^
Thank you all for your patience. So much.
And if you've reached out to me in anyway during my disappearance, thank you so much.
I'm still gathering the courage to respond to people individually again, because it's been so long, but I have most likely seen your message and stared at it for a long while trying to figure out what to say in gratitude and failing miserably. Wishing everyone a wonderful day/week/month, as always.
