Isobel could have shut her stupid mouth and let Max be happy for once in his life. She could have sent him to his grave and bailed on her "fierce warrior," what bullshit it all is

I think it would be a terrible choice for the writer’s to add another instance against Max in this particular arena, as I’ve probably mentioned before, this show has a tendency of having characters hide information about Max’s body/life/past from him, all starting when Isobel and Michael sent Liz away leading into 2x08 with Liz using his cells without his knowledge and into 3x02 with Isobel and Michael hiding Jones and what they learned about Nora&Louise, so to see them with access to more information about Max and proceeding to not give it to him would just continue a series of bad choices and baby-ify-ing him, so IMO Isobel sharing the memory was the only thing I liked about the memory (cause hello Hollier what is Nora’s timeline? do you just come up with shit on the fly and not cross reference it? like at all?)

however, I do have one complaint about how Isobel treated Max in 3x12, where she essentially mocks him for making his own informed choice about his own damn body all because he was forced to retract that choice, but I adore Isobel as a whole and IMO she was acting very ooc in the last few episodes at least in regards to Max, I mean she would never under any circumstances not be holding her twins hand as they went through that portal, cause they never “go alone”

I'm still a flashback warrior at episode 2x12 when Miss Jenn asks "Are you happy?'' WHY does he look at the corridor for like 5 minutes? He definitely had a conversation with Ej or Gina there

I am still holding out for a flashback, it would be everything. I rewatched the scene you mentioned and I see it. There are two quotes Ricky said that stuck out to me: "No one should be able to tell who they can or can't take a chance on." and "Here's to second chances."

First I want to mention that the scene leads to a very symbolic song - "Second Chances." I think it's symbolic because when they are all standing on stage there is a stage light between Ricky and Gina. This is a small detail and there's no way it was random, especially when you think about in the making of a TV show every line, scene, and set has a purpose. I think the light between them signaled to the audience that Rina's story wasn't over. There was still that connection, light, and spark between them.

I can see the flashback happening more with Gina than with EJ. There are so many sections their conversation could occur in the episode. If they want to mirror 2x06 then it could have happened after Ricky and Nini read their letters to each other. Like once again Gina walks into the dressing room after Nini leaves. But this time Ricky is single and Gina is the one in a (potential) relationship. I think Ricky would start/want to tell Gina how he feels, that he likes her but then Gina talks about EJ. Ricky can sees her focus on EJ and steps back to let her see that relationship through. That could also be why he went to Lily, because he knew the Gina thing wasn't going to happen now.

(As I was writing this I remembered the "can we start over scene?" in 3x02, which assumes they haven't talked in months, and idk maybe the flashback was with EJ, but I don't really see what they could have talked about that would reveal that Ricky likes Gina because EJ was ready to walk away until Gina came back.)

Anyway, whatever it is, I hope we get a flashback or at least Ricky explaining his feelings, like when did he start feeling this deeply for her, etc. It would end the claim that his "feelings came out of nowhere" because we already know they didn't. He's been feeling them for a long time because baby boy was crying over her in the fetal position.

That last ask made me wonder: what’s Kasef’s narrative function in the story? Like how Claudia is often used to show the dangers of apathy and social stagnation, what does Kasef bring to the table in the Dragon Prince? What themes does his character illustrate?

Kasef is a character archetype I saw coming following the end of s2, since I figured that Ezran would need some sort of opposition other than Viren to his goals, at least for the first half of the season. Whether that would come from another human kingdom, or within his own council (turns out it was both!) I assumed we’d get a more minor antagonist who could reliably challenge the young king. I think that’s Kasef’s primary function from a plot standpoint.

From a thematic / narrative one, he’s there to foil Claudia, Soren, and Ezran, (somewhat Callum) and to show that the younger generation isn’t impervious to perpetuating the cycle. Let’s break that down quickly in order.

Kasef, like Claudia and Soren, is bound to his role in his father’s footsteps. He ultimately participates in self-destructive behaviour, and dies with possible full or limited sentience due to the spell. He is a cautionary sign to what Soren could become if he doesn’t leave and what Claudia largely does by the end of season three.

(AKA what sons will do for / to their fathers)

Kasef is a reflection of Ezran. He is a young king, only nineteen, coming to power after the assassination of his father. But Kasef’s grief is ‘artificial’ compared to Ezran’s, as Ezran’s father is actually dead and was actually killed (as far as we know) by Moonshadow assassins. Kasef’s father, King Ahling, is not actually dead, just injured, and we know his death was fully orchestrated by shadowy Moonshadow assassins conjured by Viren. Kasef occupies the same position as Ezran, but he is also nothing like Ezran.

Furthermore, side note for Callum: Kasef is very much everything a prince should be - a good warrior, headstrong, clever and able to manipulate situations politically to get what he wants. An arrogant, crueller version of Soren. Callum rejects all this emotionally while keeping the good sides. It leaves him vulnerable to Kasef’s attack, but it leaves him narratively “worthy” of being saved from him, too.

Before Kasef, every young character we’ve met has broken the cycle. The main trio all actively work towards it, even if Rayla takes a few episodes more to get on board than the princes. Ellis is one of their first allies. Aanya refuses Viren’s deal (and Kasef responds to war with even more gusto than any of the former four leaders of the Pentarchy). Soren and Claudia, particularly the former, rest on the fence throughout most of season two. In 3x02, we’re not quite sure where they’ll stand. 

Enter Kasef. He’s not only opposed to all of the characters around his age or younger, but is committed to it. He doesn’t back down and instead readily boxes in Ezran, gladly marches into Xadia, and gambles his life first for Viren’s “gift.” Kasef, in my opinion, is a sign of things to come, particularly for Ezran’s political plotlines going forward. So while Kasef’s death is a cautionary thing, it’s also a tragedy, narrowly mirrored and avoided by Rayla in 3x08, of charging headfirst at your own death because you’re still entrenched in the Cycle, and it’s just going to keep causing pain, loss, and violence. 

The weight of prejudice and history, of the Cycle, is not so easily erased from the world, even in the youth. Kasef just fell prey to it. Hopefully his father and younger sibling will not.

3x02 The Tears of Uther Pendragon pt 2

Reason number 76683 why subtitles are important for everyone: those scorpions are called 'serkets'. Yes I DID wonder how they got 'circuit' as another name for a scorpion! Yes, I'm an idiot.

We're really just gonna gloss over the fact that when Merlin didn't come home last night Gaius assumed he was with Arthur? And Arthur just accepts that logic without question? Okay.

Kilgharrah has been free for like a year and a half and he's dropped like half his bodyweight😂

I have to say, really, A+ banter between Arthur and Merlin. This scene and just in the whole two parter. Arthur very much the jealous partner, "where have you been" and Merlin the wiseass "you've not had your breakfast this morning, have you?" Its all just *chefs kiss*

This confrontation between Morgana and Merlin is bizarre. For one thing, the last time (as far as I can recall) that she dragged Merlin into a little alcove like that was when she was trying to convince him that Arthur was in danger, when she'd first started having visions and thought she might be going mad. Now she does it to threaten him. And he just stands there looking at her, doesn't say anything at all when there's about a million things he should be saying to her. I know it's a 'don't pull the thread' thing, but why would Morgana even bother threatening him? Surely she intends to kill him? Surely she knows that nobody will believe his word over hers, particularly since he has no proof, and since Uther's inexplicably wrapped around her finger now. I suppose I'm overthinking it, but it just seems like such an unnecessary moment to me.

This scene between Merlin and Arthur is 45 seconds long but it's such a standout moment for two reasons: 1) it's gay as hell 2) Arthur's got such big Giles energy that you'll never convince me Bradley didn't model that line directly after

Merlin listing the provisions he's procured to keep Arthur well fed throughout the siege has me craving salt fish but there isn't a single restaurant around here that delivers any version of it. I want you all to know I just fell down a rabbit hole watching cooking videos because apparently the only way I'll be able to satisfy this craving is to cook it myself.

Only Merlin could be so soft while being so cryptic.

Really glad they had Uther dressed and ready for battle and pushing himself to the front lines. One of the biggest issues I had with 2x13 The Last Dragonlord is the fuckin entire castle and surrounding villages are being assaulted by this dragon and Uther's hiding in a tower the whole time. I know he starts off with an undefined illness, which frankly I'm taking to be a version of exhaustion due to the stress his body and mind endured because of the mandrake root enchantment. But they show him wake up, realize what's going on, and scramble out of bed to go and join the fray which I think is a very important scene, if for no other reason than to correct the previous oversight. Uther is a lot of things, but he must be a warrior in some sense, otherwise he wouldn't have conquered Camelot to begin with.

Also Tony looks really cool dressed in armor and baring his teeth as he wacks his sword at an enemy combatant.

AND not for nothing but he didn't get hurt UNTIL Arthur started dragging him away. Ok fine I'll drop it but I'M JUST SAYING.

God I should've looked up an 'anatomy of a castle' at some point.

"Take him to hospital" really? They're going with 'hospital'

Morgana and Merlin's sword fight is so cool. She looks so good wielding a sword. But also how does he manage to do that spell to collapse the ceiling on her without her realizing he used magic

Morgana taking credit for saving the day and the look she and Merlin exchange is hilarious.

Merlin and Arthur are bickering husbands. I love it so much.

Team Free Will 2.O

Remember back when earlier in Supernatural, Team Free Will was formed and everyone had their own ideas about who would be in the running for a Supernatural: Next Gen.? And remember how we almost got Wayward Daughters, but that got rejected in favor for Legacies?

Well, in honor of the very last season of SPN, I decided to do my own AU spin on who would be the perfect trio of Team Free Will!

First off...Jesse Turner the(Human/Demon hybrid)

Jesse Turner is the Antichrist, who was discovered by the Winchesters after unknowingly using his powers by believing little superstitions. However, upon meeting his parents (his mother while possessed by his demonic parent) and disowning them via refocusing his demonic parent, Jesse used his powers to transport himself far away and was never heard from again.

As picture above shows the obvious: Jesse is an adult now. Having practically a decade to control and hone his powers, powers that were believed to level Heaven itself, the threat that God himself poses could easily be enough reason put himself back in the game!

Secondly... Ben Braeden (Human)

From cheeks, forehead, smile and similar taste of music, it's no surprise that there's still Supernatural fans who continue to believe that Ben really is Dean's son!

Back in 3x02, The Kids Are Alright, the Winchesters came into Ben and his mother, Lisa, lives just in time as children in the suburban area they lived in were being taken and replaced by monsters that feed off their parents. Dean briefly returned to live with them at the end of season 5 after Sam went in the Cage and created a domestic life with them until Sam's return. But because of the threat Dean's Hunting has brought them, he had his guardian angel, Castiel, wipe their memories of him to protect them.

Now, here's where wordplay comes in: There was no mention of any supernatural that were being brain wipes. So, it's actually easy to believe that once Dean left, Ben and his mother were getting attacked by other monsters trying to settle a score with Dean. But add in the lapse of memories and the sudden knowledge of Hunting being used to protect themselves, it wouldn't be so hard to believe Ben ended up joining the Hunter lifestyle to get answers.

And who's to say Ben doesn't get injured/hurt, which causes him to remember Dean.

Whether or not he's angry with him is up to debate, Ben Braeden won't stop until he get answers from the man himself...and find out if he really is a Winchester after all!

(And ideally, if Dean is his father, like Claire Novak, he is the next gen. vessel of Michael.)

And last but not least...Emma Winchester (Corrupted Amazon/human(?) hybrid)

For those who forgotten her: Back in 7x13, Dean unknowingly slept with an Amazon named Lydia Martin and together, they conceived and had a daughter named Emma. However, in a span of 3 days, she was taken and brainwashed to become a full member of her tribe, initiated if she could kill her birth father...which in attempting to do resulted in Sam Winchester killing her.

Now, while many fans respectfully believe Emma died and went to Purgatory, which would've made the possibility of her and Dean meeting HIGH, other fans believe she might be someplace else. See: Emma is part of a race of Amazonian female warriors born from Harmonia, the Greek goddess of Strife and Concord. Other sources believe Ares, Greek god of War, was her father and gifted them to her while another source claims Harmonia was a nymph who caught Ares' eyes and had the Amazons as a result.

This ties in to the idea since deities from different cultures exists, and Emma was a creature of a different mythology and not Eve, her afterlife might actually be in the Greek Underworld. Perhaps in the Asphodel Meadows, a place were souls who did not commit crimes nor do anything great when they were alive, were sent.

Emma, herself, is arguable an innocent. She never killed. While she was sent to kill Dean, her discomfort amongst the Amazons and their ways was most obvious during the scenes growing up (in a span of 3 days). Thus leading certain fans to believe she could have been redeemed, and even traveled with the brothers as a result.

In general, Emma coming back would be more than just closure and/or being part of Team Free Will 2.O would be an interesting act. The potential storyline of season 15 being to either help Dean reconcile with losing her (and especially if it were to be discovered that Chuck purposely took wrote her off because he knew Dean would lament over her at somepoint) and meet a stalemate with Sam (who may or may not have time to realize he was rash in killing her.) And because she's Greek and not of any Christian mythology, it leaves her a loophole in any of Chuck's plans, like how Castiel's supposedly non-extinct place in his story helps him intervene.

Besides, her own character arc would still relate to the Amazons as with Harmonia (goddess of basically conflict and peace) as the creator of her species, and the current Amazons doing noting but causing conflict, and finishing out how and why her species had fallen from grace that Harmonia would let something like this go on... Emma might need the Winchester blood in her veins to work that out!

(Sorry if Emma's part is lenghty compared to the boys, but seriously! There are so many ways Emma's story could have went and the fact that it was glossed over...Yeah, there's something God!Chuck-like about that scenario!)

And though that includes that ideal trip for Team Free Will 2.O, I'd like to add one more member that helps them:

* Jack Kline (Nephilim)

Let's admit it: Compared to those listed above, he is a character fans sympathize with and/or bash. A young child in a grown man's body, for all his adorableness and genuine feelings, he's perfect for Team Free Will.

Jack was conceived by his human mother, Kelly Kline, and his Angelic father, Lucifer. Though her pregnancy was anything but ordinary, she realized quickly that upon her son's birth was her death and told him in the womb to grow up quickly to protect himself.

And he did that...literally.

Having and losing his grace, realizing the world had it's good, bad, and mostly gray moments, and loving the Winchesters and Castiel as his family before his death by his grandfather, Chuck/God, he had the makings of a great character.

Obviously, one of his greater issues would be rising from Lucifer's shadow and doing his best to prove he's nothing like him. Hence why, like his Uncle/"Dad", Castiel, he would be the Guardian Angel to Team Free Will 2.O.

He'll make mistakes, be tempted by anything with his heart in the right place, but like his chosen "parents", Jack will do everything to protect the next generation and hopefully avoid any apocalypses in the process.

Which leads Team Free Will 2.0 consisting of the Antichrist, an Amazonian warrior, a Hunter, and a Nephilim (two more or less clashing while the other two are siblings!)

And it doesn't hurt to add good ole' Uncle Sam Winchester be the Veteran Hunter/Witch, along with his wife, Elileen, who help the group with hunts while actually getting them to sit down at a dinner table once a week! Meanwhile, Dean and Castiel are married and living in a lakehouse in Kansas, seeing their "kids" (Ben, Emma, and Jack) whenever they can!
