this was one of those illustrations that was originally supposed to be a 5 page comic until I realized I don't know anything about later roman empire architecture or visuals or art or anything, so we'll revisit that later. maybe

for right now though, these two are fascinating. we have two brothers acting as one body, even becoming ill in tandem with each other, it's giving This Throne Is Cursed. like, the last time I read about emperors coming down with life threatening illnesses, it was Caligula, and that moment in his biography marked a very specific tone shift. I spent the rest of the (first) time reading about Valens and Valentinian waiting for something comparable to Caligula's reign to happen lmao (Dio 59. 8. 1-2)

and since Caligula was already on the mind, I started thinking about Tiberius: I think he would've loved these two since he had a whole thing about twin-ification and brothers and etc etc etc. ofc, Rome is both a Mouth and a Tomb, so it's going to go badly for someone/everyone eventually, but honestly I think that Valentinian and Valens were the best we could've hoped for. like it could've been so much worse

HARBOR SEALS!! My personal favorites, since one of my favorite stuffed animals when I was little was a harbor seal bought from a gift shop at a harbor. Seals are very funky animals in general, but if I rate them on a scale of ‘general funkiness’ or ‘funkiness for a SEAL’, then the values are different. Harbor seals aren’t the most unique or interesting seals, but they are cute and spotted. Chunk is self explanatory. Look at them. High chunk. Very dry little guys, no gunk.

House Velaryon really has it best in the asoiaf plot; they sent the bastard of Driftmark to war, and Aurane Waters ended up imprisoned but (loosely speaking) was pardoned, given a seat on the small council, and awarded with the position of grand admiral strictly because of his ethereal, stunningly handsome and mesmerising looks (Cersei even compares him to Rhaegar, who was known for his ethereal beauty).

Aurane leaves KL and all that mess with his new fleet and becomes the new Lord of the Tides/Waters and the Pirate King. He could do this all because basically Westerosi culture found him beautiful. What a man.

i am literally so brave. having the worst day ever. terrible pains all over and I'm not allowed to take a painkiller. can't eat or even drink water until later (haven't eaten anything in over 20 hours). had to go through the place where one of my biggest traumas took place. they had the news on there so i had to hear how awful things are in my country and essentially how we're all going to get bombed to death soon. and i only cried a lot! didn't even try to throw myself into traffic ONCE!!! 😤
