little daniel imagine, with the '“where’s the new coffee mix?” “i’ll tell you if you tell me where you put the keys?” “i TOLD you i don’t know where—”' prompt <3
a/n: thank you for the ask, anon! hope you enjoy!<3🌼pick a prompt:)
you get up a few minutes past seven o’clock, shuffling out of bed behind daniel, out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. the sky, as the sun rose not too long ago, is still wearing its coat of muted pink and yellow, and natural light welcomes itself into your home in narrow streaks onto the floors and kitchen countertops. daniel is first to wake up, sleepily mumbling something about wanting to get to tour rehearsals early, and with the help of his convincing smile and guarantee of breakfast, you hop out of bed as well.
it isn't unusual for the two of you to be grumpy in the morning, only sharing slight smiles and little morning kisses and a touch of conversation while you work through your routines to get ready for the day…at least until there is cooked food and warm drinks on the table.
honestly, if it wasn't for the tempting promise of hot, home-cooked breakfast, which you gladly agreed for daniel to make, the pair of you would still be in bed, lured in under the warm sheets and blankets, fighting off the wintry morning chill. your slight grumpiness has progressed into an obvious agitation, furrowed brows and all, at the absence of your keys from their usual spot near the entryway.
daniel’s cooking as you breeze around the house looking for them, showing half-hearted concern and asking simple questions that honestly tick you off even more. “are you sure you haven’t seen them?” you call, halfway across the living room as your eyes scan every possible fraction of space and object in sight.
“yep, no idea” daniel dismisses, unknowingly receiving an annoyed huff in return, his voice muffled by the sound of the kitchen cabinets and drawers rolling open one by one only to be shut again as he tries to find the jar of coffee that would usually be sitting in one of the shelves.
he puts breakfast on the table anyway, two two mini stacks of pancakes and berries for each of you, and although daniel is proud of his culinary work at such an early hour, his limbs still tired and eyes still groggy, you aren’t so pleased at the absence of your necessary cup of coffee. the edge of your voice is ever so obvious as you pace around the house, looking for other things you’d somehow misplaced from your shoes to your lip balm back to your keys, murmuring out a “thank you,” followed by a “where’s my coffee?” as you glance at the food in front of you.
“where’s the new coffee mix?” he counters.
“i’ll tell you if you tell me where you put the keys?”
the two of you attempt a staring contest, a battle of who can hold their frowning expressions the longest without faltering, before you just decide to search together. daniel loses, sighing in frustration before he moves to check around the kitchen one more time, “i TOLD you i don’t know where—”' his words are cut off, eyes rolling at the sight of your keys in the cutlery drawer. “how did they even get in here?” he questions, keys hanging off his finger in the air.
an easy smile graces your lips, as if a frown had never been there, and the morning grumpiness melts away as you cheekily pluck the keys from his hand before plopping down at your seat to eat….”the coffee’s in the pantry, first shelf on the right” you say through a mouthful of food.

I asked for fic recs so it only makes sense that I provide some.
The Invisible Stan by The Last Speecher (HeidiMelone)
Simple, short, but elegant. You know how hanahaki disease is a trope? I feel like this should be a trope, but idk what you'd call it - Ninny disease sounds bad, but like it's clearly based off of Ninny from the Moomins. Anyway, great fic <3
An Outreached Hand by WDW
Ghost trick au! Love a good ghost trick au! I reread this recently and it still holds up so well, still so good even if unfinished. Haven't played ghost trick since, some of the twists make a hair more sense - especially the twist in the last chapter posted and being like 'OH IT'S *THE* GHOST TRICK'. Shoutout to undead creepiness and cute kitties :3
Retrograde by scrawling_stardumb
Kissing this one on the mouth. Only one chapter and unfinished, but it's a long chapter and really makes you go 'whoa'. It's interesting because the summary *technically* gives you more info than the chapter itself, but it's that kind of dramatic irony that fits the writing so well. A good solid McGucket POV too, which there really isn't enough of. Tbh, it stands okay almost as a one shot? I wish this became a whole popular au like all the others, bc it kicks ass as a concept.
Finding the Right Frequency by impish_nature
A pretty cute one! Ford trying to figure out how to deal with Bill, and Stan having found a stable job, and someow their two worlds intersect. Cute moments between the two, and some good Stans getting to reconnect.
Things You Can't Take Back by thesnadger
Classic by the Snadger! I always appreciate people who take Stan's memory less and make it more complicated, or at least have there be aftershocks to have your whole life erased :D So well written.
like they were a perfect fit by hapful
Stanford Pines and the photo he never looses. A beautiful story about Ford throughout the ages and his opnions on family, specifically Stan.
putting the dog to sleep by parsnipit
Old Yeller is such a sad story, and also some of this made me think of Mice and Men, and ugh just Stan and Ford and beign willing to kill something you love - sometimes because you love it - and it's such a perfect analogy to them I could die.
none of those phds is an md, you dumb idiot by untrustworthyglitch
I always love a fic that acknowledges language barriers. It reminds me of a really old fic where I did something similar, but like, being away from Earth would lead to you forgetting a lot of things, including language.
Too Late, Too Soon, Not Enough by IncomingAlbatross
Ah, gotta love a good fic that shows the missing scene of Ford and Stan switching places. Who came up with the idea? Who needed to be convinced? What swears do they get to use while off camera? Stan I love you so much, and Ford I lov eyou for beig nso complicated.
Raising Stakes by MaryPSue
Mwah! A Classic if I've ever seen one! While I'm partial to werewolf!Stan, Vampire!Stan does have so much potential and MaryPSue puts it to use so well! A great look into what Gravity Falls was like back in taht time period, and I love when people utilize Susan in fics that take place pre-portal <3 Also, Carla! I miss you so much Carla <3 It's drama, it's action, it's everything!
Lost and Found by PengyChan
Tate & Fiddleford have a lot of untapped potential, and while I think going the angst route makes a lot of sense, this one is almost more fluff and catharsis, I guess? I love it, near and dear to me.
Off-Season by anistarrose
Time Travel fic, but not a timestuck au? More likely than you think! A cute oneshot with particular focus on Stan, Mabel, and Dipper. Just a fluffy little thing with a couple strangers helping Stan out through a difficult winter.
Persist and Dwell by fencesit
A bit of Soos's trust in Grunkle Stan, and a mystery that isn't so much mystery as it is simply just not explicitly said. One of the final scenes has still stuck with me, and this is defo a concept I'd love to see explored more.
flee from your ghosts (burn your house down) by thepolysyndetonaddictsupportgroup
While typically OTGW x Gravity Falls crossovers are, like, Pinescone, I'm partial to this version where Wirt is their dad. There'a few details that didn' sit well with me, but over all so incredible and well written. Some of the metaphors are just so evocative I could eat them. The descriptions are to die for. And I love the depiction of a dad struggling to get his kids to open up to him that feels like it's part dads struggle with teens and part those pines twins just won't tell the truth.
If you have any Gravity Falls fic recs, feel free to comment them!

Jonah Marais X Black OC Willow
Plot: Willow takes a depression bath and asks Jonah for some help to get mats out of her hair.
Word count: 1.7K+
Author’s Note: Happy Black History Month! This piece deals with depression and isn't meant to romanticize mental illness. (Not my picture above)
Rating: 16+
Tumblr media
The hot water steamed along her dark body, melting away the stress from her bones. Exhausted strength held her knees against her tender chest, her head resting atop them. She felt secure as the position gave a soft caress to her deteriorating soul
Purple clouds rumbled into the sky, unleashing their lightening through the roots of the earth's soil. Trembling the small build of the two bedroom home. Soon dropping the pounds of rain onto the roof.
The bath was a small break from the constant numbness racing in her veins. It wasn't a solution, but it was enough to keep her sane to make it through the night.
She doesn't remember when this clouding feeling bloomed, only how fast it spread from her mind to her soul. Took everything she was and and who she wanted to be down the endless rabbit hole of depression.
Willow's fingers stretched around the brush sitting on the tub's ledge. Threaded the plastic bristles into her thick coarse black curls. Tending to the mat living near the top of her hair. With strict and aggressive brush strokes her hair yanked at her scalp, stinging in various places.
She could sense the warmth from his presence reach for her as the gentle taps of his knuckles landed on the door. Comforting heat wrapped her heart in a safety blanket and she almost felt whole again. Jonah. Her safe haven. Her anchor.
Her boyfriend laid his forehead against the bathroom door. reminiscing on the days he heard her putting on a whole concert in the shower. Preforming an after show in the den with only her underwear on. He didn't only see the change he felt it and his heart broke for her.
Willow is his everything, his lifeline. He'd bend backwards just to keep her afloat. She's brittle with sadness and Jonah grew the need to wrangle the fog away from her sweet arura. Things like this took time and he knew that, but he struggled to stay on the sidelines and watch her struggle till she needed hm.
"Are you okay in there, Low?" His voice muffled by the door. The question pulled the intoxicating thoughts and jagged emotion to release tears.
"Y-yeah." Willow's voice broke no matter how strong she tried to hold her tone. She was too tired to fight.
"Okay, let me know if you need me." Jonah reluctantly pushed himself off the door, leaving Willow to herself.
Realization of his dismissal dawned on her heavily. An unconscious reply was the result of her auto piloted brain. Unfortunately she needed him in here with her. To spill his warm arura into hers and give it light again. A mental recharge. Even if it was a little amount at a time.
"Jonah." Willow's call for him is urgent and high, a desperate call for help.
He had sat himself in the den with an impatient leg, his gut telling him to not linger too far from her this time. Jonah shot to his feet the second his name left her cracked lips. "Yes, Love?" Gentle words to encourage her. Tone was a big denominator to determine weather she would carry out her words.
"Could.." she paused, feeling the self doubt takeover her mind again. Was she asking too much from him? Willow wouldn't forgive herself if she burnt him out too.
"Whatever you need, I'm here." His tone never gave her a reason to think he wanted their disastrous relationship in the past. So why did her brain yell it to the stars? The toasty security blanket falling back into place chased the demonized thoughts away for a breath.
"Could you brush the mats out of hair?" Her voice quavered in its self. Jonah turned the brass handle in response, relieved he was finally up to bat. His green eyes laid upon her weakened frame and his own heart crumbled like the stone walls of a castle. Dull brown eyes gazed up at him and began to fill with comfort.
A small silence was shared between the two of them before he started peeling pieces of clothing from his body. Even in the depths of exhaustion she could still find herself admiring the man she loves. Grey ink peppering his light skin. Jonah removed the last piece and Willow scooted closer to the tub's facet. Making enough room for him to squeeze into his reserved seat behind her.
Stepping into the tub, his skin burned from the high water temperature. Jonah mentally seethed not wanting to raise concern in her and have her clam up and push him out to finish the job herself. Willow's done it multiple times before while Jonah stayed patient.
Once Jonah's legs framed her body Willow held the brush behind her for him to take. Fingers lapping over each other and a familiar soft shiver ran through her nerves just like they had when they first shared their love for each other.
Jonah held her black hair with caution, Never in the years that he had known Willow did she allow anyone to touch her hair. Told him her mother taught her that everyone's hair was sacred, it was never to be thrown out, but to be set aflame. He felt like royalty holding her hair in his palms.
His brush strokes were soft but effective. Putting all his concentration on her gorgeous hair. Removing batches of hair from the brush bristles and placing them on the floor for the fire ceremony later on. Willow was quiet for the time being, coming to peace with her inner demons as Jonah's arura kept them at bay. She began to believe he was her guardian angel.
"I Don't think I've ever told you this, but I feel absolutely lost." The breath she took in shook, Jonah saw it quiver in her brown shoulder blades. He didn't say anything, needing her to continue on, to open his mind to her pain.
".I feel like a fucking pothole in one of the main streets, a massive interference to everyone's day around me, a burden. And if you get close enough you'll bottom yourself out and be stuck. I don't want that to happen to you." It was a total miracle to find no tears slipping down her face, Willow always cried talking about her feelings from childhood trauma.
Jonah never saw Willow as a burden, he saw her as a strong black women that stood up for who she is and what she believed in. He saw her skin colour as shield of powerful strength, In his mind she will never be weak.
When you look at the big picture it's not too bad. In reality Corbyn or Daniel will drive on by, pull my dusty ass out and repair the damaged tire. Then I'll find you again and repair you." Jonah's heart grew sore for her, his chest tightening and felt as if he was going to tear up.
"Won't be long before I collapse into myself again." Willow's tone expressionless.
"let's not worry about the future and focus on this moment right here. What makes you feel good?" Jonah had brushed through half of her matted hair.
Willow kept quiet sorting through her various thoughts for the answer, it was difficult to find what didn't make her numb. normally she enjoyed hiking, the feeling of exploring in the wilderness with her best friend was irreplaceable. The want for the activity left her mind as she could barely make it out the door most days.
Her mind wandered off on the thought of the man behind her, "You. Whenever you're around me I can feel the warmth from your being reach me and wrap around me. You're my bright light, My anchor keeping me from slipping past this life."
Jonah said nothing as he processed her words, He had no idea just how much she needed him. "Is there anything else?" Jonah says not wanting to distract himself from the mission in hand.
"Adventure." This answer hit the air quick, no less the true. She already had time to ponder on her thoughts.
"Tomorrow let's go that coffee shop you've been dying to take me to for months. The one with the rescued guinea pigs."
"I don't know if I'm ready for something life that, Jo." Willow hug herself, wondering if Jonah wanted someone manageable.
"The quest is to get to the café, there's no requirement for getting dressed, taking medications, or brushing the pearls before hand." Jonah paid attention to the days she did carry on with those tasks and what she was feeling that day. Her mood in the mornings set her entire day.
"You'd want to get coffee with a bed troll?' Willow asked hesitantly. the amount of hair pooling on the ground held a small piece of concern in Jonah's heart.
"If you must know, yes, I'd love to take this powerful black women I call my girlfriend for a coffee date."
"I'm in love with you, Marias. Willow spoke the words her soul was screaming. He had confirmed the very thing her brain has been telling her was false.
"And I love every inch of you, Willow." He left a trail of kisses starting from one shoulder leading to the other. The tiniest of smiles etched into her lips for the first time in two months.
When Jonah finished curing her curls from the jungle of mats, he washed her dark locks with the last bit of conditioner stuck at the bottom of bottle. He had a sense it wasn't nearly enough for her hair but it just had to do for now.
After Jonah concurred her hair, Willow laid against his chest still in the tub. The water cooled through out the time they've spent in there. He hummed the melody of their song, and traced loving words into her brown skin with the pads of his finger tips. her delicate back laid into his broad chest and she never felt this close to the love of her live. The intimate moment is to be cherished for years to come.
The next morning the sun shone through the living room, Willow slept through till the late afternoon. Her body kept her from leaving the threshold of the house that day. She sat a few feet from the door and stared at it helplessly. Jonah was with her the entire time, supporting her decision.
They never left the safety of their home the next day, or the next, or the next.
Tumblr media
I wrote the main character black to celebrate black history month. I'm not black so please tell me if my writing felt offensive. I am a women of colour myself and find it extremely important to see representation.
I'm back to writing, But I'm going to publish at least on piece a month because it took me days to write this.

Hiya Jiyack| Jack Avery x Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: I haven't updated my Blue Eyes story lately so today instead I give you this Jack x reader story.
I flopped onto the couch next to Jack. I pulled out my phone and texted him.
Y/n: Hey Jack.
Jack pulled out his phone and read the text. He looked at me with a weird look and answered.
Jack: We're literally sitting next to each other.
Y/n: I know. Just don't feel like using my vocal cords.
I looked at him to see his reaction. He scrunched up his nose adorably and looked at his screen in confusion.
Jack: What the heck? Why not?
Y/n: I sound like I got my throat slit and it wasn't healed properly.
Jack: Slit throats aren't supposed to heal.
Y/n: Whatever. You get my point.
I turned my phone off and turned to look at my boyfriend, “Hiya Jiyack.”
He turned his phone off too and turned to look at me, “Why do you always say my name like that?”
I shrugged, “I said it as a joke one day and now it just comes naturally.”
Jack leaned in and gave me a peck on the lips, “You are so cute.” I smiled at him.
“So are you, Noodles,” I say and squeeze his face. His cheeks were smushed and it looked like he was making a fish face. I pecked his face all over.
“You know I'm never going to stop calling you Jiyack right? It's like your second name now.”

October 24, 1961
Daniel checked his watch with a soft sigh before tucking his hands back in the pockets of his slacks.
“Are we keeping you from something, Seavey?” his boss asked from farther inside the office.
“No, sir.” Daniel straightened up professionally. “Just…curious to see the time. Thought it was much earlier. Today’s gone by so…quickly, you know…”
The older men chuckled amongst themselves at their new intern in the station. Daniel shifted on his feet nervously. There was no doubt in his mind that they were in fact keeping him from something: his brand new wife who was waiting for him back at home. He had this job lined up since before the honeymoon and it was now the start of his first full week as an intern at one of LA’s local radio stations. It was a very modern job and he was lucky to have been offered it but his mind was still on vacation and honeymoon bliss. It was almost 3:00 and he still had and hour and a half left of his day.
His boss clapped his hands together as he wrapped up the afternoon meeting and the men shuffled their things to leave the conference room as he dismissed them back to their desks, “Nice thoughts here today, gentlemen. Finish up your evening reports and preps for tomorrow’s broadcast and then we can call it a day.”
Daniel stepped just inside the room as the men filtered past him and headed down the hallway. He watched them go quietly and then turned to his boss for his next instruction.
“Finish those files on your desk, Daniel, and then you can head home. I’m sure it’s been a long day for you, son.”
“Thank you, sir.” Daniel nodded and then walked back down the hallway of the radio station towards the cubicles. He unbuttoned his suit jacket as he sat himself down at his small desk right in the middle of the chaos of the office floor and his eyes drifted to the framed photograph of Loretta sitting beyond the stack of paperwork waiting for him. Her grinning smile from the image captured on their recent honeymoon only made him smile himself and he turned back to his work to finish up for the day and return to her.
The office was filled with the flip of paper and clack of typewriters and buzz of the fluorescent lighting above and Daniel tried to stay focused. He shuffled through the files and took the notes that he had been taught to and sorted them neatly to the side.
Loretta never missed her 3:00 milkshakes if she could help it and Daniel was almost waiting for it once the top of the hour came and left. He checked his watch in the middle of another folder to see that it was ten past. He turned back to his work.
In the middle of the next file, while he was focused on reading the report required for the next morning’s broadcast, the flavour of his soulmate’s afternoon treat rolled over his tongue. Daniel’s eyebrows were furrowed in concentration as he read and didn’t need to process too much of the flavour after two years of having dealt with the soulmate connection of taste.
But, a few seconds later, his focus was broken as his brain caught up with his tongue and the bittersweet flavour of rich chocolate ice cream filled his mouth. Daniel’s face scrunched up in disgust and he looked up at his picture of Loretta again.
“What are you eating, Lori?” he whispered more to himself than anyone.
Loretta and Daniel were so perfectly made for each other that neither of them liked chocolate – the main reason why Loretta always chose strawberry milkshakes. This time, she must have changed her mind. Or been served something incorrectly.
Daniel was sure it must have been an incorrect order but then the flavour returned in another wave as she took another sip across the city and he was forced to taste it right along with her.
“Golly…gee, Loretta.” Daniel grumbled quietly and pressed his fist to his mouth in disgust. He was now focused on why she was choosing to drink a chocolate shake and he wracked his brain for any and all reasons.
She hates chocolate…what would make her want to willingly drink it? No one’s forcing her. If the diner was out of strawberry, she would have chosen vanilla. Why would she want to go for chocolate out of everything? It is so unlike her and the last thing she would ever-
Daniel’s face of concern and disgust fell into shocked realization and his hand fell from his mouth to his desk with a dull thud. He shoved up his sleeve and checked his watch but didn’t even process the time before he was turning back to his work in a hurry. Too focused on getting out for the day, Daniel shoved the files in somewhat semblance of order and grabbed his briefcase and hat from his shelf under his desk and high tailed it to his boss’ office.
“Done already, Daniel?” he asked friendly as Daniel dropped the paperwork onto his desk.
“Yes, sir. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Daniel answered quickly without a look back and almost ran for the elevators while shoving his hat on his head. He punched out in the floor lobby on the way, trying to shove his timecard back into the slot with trembling hands while he was all too attuned to the flavour of chocolate milkshake taking over his senses.
Loretta was at Sherry’s – as usual – and Daniel barely gave himself a second to put the car in park before he was jumping out and scrambling inside the diner. The bell above the door rang daintily just as Daniel physically tripped over the threshold and stumbled loudly over the linoleum flooring.
His wife was sitting at the front counter and she, as well as the rest of the patrons, looked over at him and the commotion he made. He still had his briefcase in hand and Daniel threw himself onto the stool beside her.
“There’s my lover boy.” Loretta smiled sweetly and pulled his tie from inside his suit jacket to pull him in for a kiss, unphased by his dramatic entrance. “Did you finish work early?”
Daniel was more than breathless, staring wide eyed at his wife who seemed too oblivious to the concept that was swirling around in his head. He didn’t answer. He just stared at her. Then his eyes flicked to the empty milkshake glass on the counter in front of her. Chocolate. And then back to her face.
“You look like you had such a fright, Dani.” Loretta laughed softly. “What is the matter?”
“Lori…” Daniel spoke softly, looking around to make sure there were no nearby customers or waiters who could overhear, and he leaned in closer to her, “you’re drinking a chocolate milkshake.”
Loretta smiled at him and then picked up her empty glass as if to admire it, “Yes, darling. I know it’s a little odd, but I was craving one terribly this afternoon and I figured I’d give it a try. It was quite tasty, honestly. Not as good as my sweet strawberry but…”
“Loretta Jean.” Daniel whispered seriously and he shuffled closer to her until he was nearly falling off his stool and onto her lap. He exhaled shakily and pulled his hat off and dropped it to the counter to push a nervous hand through his brown hair.
“What is with you, Dani?” Loretta giggled. “You’re making such a show over a milkshake.”
“Lori, are…” Daniel shut his eyes for a moment as if to convince himself to ask her such a sensitive question, but then opened them once again and set his hand on hers as he leaned in even closer to whisper against her ear, “are you expecting?”
When he sat back again, Loretta honestly laughed at his accusation, “Expecting? A child? Oh, good golly, darling, why would I…”
Her smile faltered quickly as her face fell into slight realization. They stared silently at each other for a moment. He could nearly see her brain putting pieces together from the last few weeks.
“Oh my gosh.”
“Did you not know?” Daniel asked quickly.
“N-No! I…I…my…I’m late but I didn’t think much of it…I’ve just been craving chocolate this week and…and feeling like I’ve been coming down with a cold but…expecting?”
Loretta reached out to set her hand on Daniel’s bicep and she stared into the countertop.
“My word.”
“Do you think…that it’s true?” Daniel asked softly, taking her hand in his gently and caressed her knuckles with his thumb.
Loretta looked back at him and bit at her bottom lip, painted its usual red, “Just might be, darling.”
Daniel’s lips twitched up into a small smile, “Yeah? You think?”
“I must book an appointment with the doctor right away to make sure.”
“Of course.”
“I would like it if you would come.”
“Of course.”
“Oh, goodness, Dani, what if I really am expecting?” Loretta slumped forward slightly onto the counter and held her cheek in the hand that wasn’t being held by his two.
“Then I’ll be the happiest man in the universe.” Daniel promised with ease.
“Even though we didn’t plan for this yet?”
Daniel shook his head, “Doesn’t matter, darling.”
“Oh my.” Loretta sighed and reached out to cradle his face in her hand. “I love you.”
Daniel brought her other hand up to his lips and kissed her soft skin, “I love you too.”
They shared sweet smiles and tender stares in the middle of the diner as a few minutes ticked by like time was nothing. Loretta leaned her hands on his thighs and left a quick kiss to his lips before sitting back again and she called the waiter over to ask for the bill. Daniel brushed her brown hair over her shoulder and petted it down her back, and he stared at her as she opened her handbag and took out a dollar bill.
“I can’t believe you guessed it before me.” Loretta tisked light heartedly.
“I know you too well, Loretta Jean.” Daniel shrugged sweetly.
She glanced over at him again with an excited smile and they both leaned in to share a quick kiss before her fingers tangled in the back of his hair lovingly, “We’re going to have a baby.”
Daniel gave her thigh a soft squeeze, “We’re going to have a baby.”
They were actually going to have two babies…they just didn’t know that yet.

A heavenly reunion pt. 2; Queen x reader
*Author's note*
And here's the last part of our last chapter of the Rock Angel series.
First of all I just wanna thank ALL OF YOU for your support. This was the FIRST fic I wrote that got me into the Queen/BoRhap fandom and (much like my Bad Wolf series) "Set it all free" was just gonna be a one-time oneshot. But YOU, the people on tumblr inspired me to make this into a series, so thanks to you guys for your lovely support of this series, cause without you, I don't know if I would've continued on after a few chapters till it might've caught up with "Set it all free". But thank you all, you guys are BEYOND AWESOME and I love each and every one of you.
Until the next update :)
ALSO LISTEN TO THE MUSIC CHOICES BELOW. CAUSE THIS PART IS A HEART-PULLER/TEAR-JERKER.

____________________________________________________________
"(Y/n), (y/n)." I felt someone shake my arm gently trying to wake me up. I looked up and I turned to see Brian sitting by my bedside.
"What Bri?" I tiredly groaned.
"Come downstairs with me, there's someone else the guys and I want you to meet."
"Do I have to get dressed?"
"I think you'll be just fine love. C'mon." He helped me get up and wrapped an arm around my shoulders guiding me down the stairs since I was still bloody tired.
We soon arrived in the piano room right where I had first met David and Elton. The first thing I notice was the other three queens all grinning at me, like they were keeping something from me but wanted to tell me.
"What's going on here?" I asked wearily.
"Darling, as I'm sure Brian told you, we have some people we'd like you to meet." Freddie spoke up.
"Guys if it's any of the singers that have long passed before my time, I think I met them all last night at the concert."
"Well these two are artists you haven't met." He finished for me. At this point I was confused. It was then Roger spoke up.
"It took us several meetings with the 'Big man' himself, to allow you to meet these two who have been waiting an eternity to see you again."
"Again?" I asked. They all smiled widely at each other and that's when Deacy opened up the slide in door and two figures came walking in.
PLAY VIDEO
Two figures I had not seen, in a very, very, very long time. The man looked to be in his mid-30's with shoulder length (h/c) and (e/c) eyes, he was semi built not overly muscular but not quite twig-like thin. The woman was around her early 30's if not late 20's the youngest being 28 with midback (h/c) and bright (e/c).
"Again." The man said. I was gaping, my body froze and I felt like collapsing there crying hysterically.
For standing there before me were none other than my parents.
"We've been waiting a long time for you (Y/n)," my mum started off.
"It's been far too long but now you're finally here." I felt a lump in my throat and my eyes began to fill with tears as I choked out.
"After all this time you two were both here just waiting for me to finally arrive just so that I can fall to the ground and cry hysterically. Dreaming of the day when I—I would try to figure out what to say to you both when I would see you if I ever saw you. And now it—it's finally happening. You two standing before me....." as I spoke, both my parents slowly walked toward me with soft eyes. "And I can't even......I just can't believe it. You two are actually here?"
"Yes my darling little cub, every day for your whole life." My mum said as she cupped my face in her hands. Tears of happiness glistened in her eyes as she praised me through a lump in her throat, "And we are so, so proud of you." I looked down but she still kept hold of my face.
"Oh mummy, daddy!" My mum immediately hugged me as tight as she could as we both wept. I nuzzled my face into her chest as she held onto me so tightly while stroking through my hair.
*3rd Person POV*
As they watched the two women hug each other, Freddie and Deacy who stood side by side each other couldn't help but have their hands over their hearts at such a moment. They all have heard the stories of her parents and whatever photos she had saved back home, so they knew what her parents looked like.
But now finally seeing (Y/n) reunite with the parents she had lost at such a young age, forced to being verbally abused by her aunt and uncle it was just heartwarming yet heartbreaking to see this touching and well-earned reunion.
After being tightly embraced and kissed beyond oblivion by her mum, (Y/n) felt a hand at her shoulder and saw it was her dad. He smiled and allowed his tears to fall as he embraced his daughter.
Roger and Brian, being the father figures for her down on earth were all smiles and teary eyed at seeing their surrogate daughter finally reunited with her real father once more. They had the privilege to help protect her in her young adult life, but they knew they'd never compare to the actual love this man had for his little girl.
(F/n) cupped his daughter's face gently in his strong, calloused hands and wiped away his daughter's tears before giving her a kiss on the nose, like he's done in the past. A move that Brian never knew her own father did, but was honored to have given (Y/n) a piece of affection that her real father had done.
By the end of it all, (Y/n) ended up sandwiches between her parents by the end as they were now on their knees. Her head buried into her father's chest as his arms were wrapped around her back while her mum rested her head against her daughter's and had her arms wrapped around her daughter's waist. (F/n) looked up at the four band members and said gratefully.
"Thank you." The four queens nodded and Deacy said.
"We'll give you three some privacy."
"No, please stay!" (Y/n) whimpered out. "I want my whole family here right now." At hearing that statement, who were the boys to deny their Rock Angel. With acceptance from the parents, the four men all got in on the group hug.
(Y/n) once more surrounded by the people that had loved her the most.
With some major convincing as well to bring her parents here to the 'Rock heaven' Queen and the Rock Angel had here, they also managed to move a quiet little cottage just up the road for (f/n) and (m/n) to live in.
When (y/n) and the boys went to visit the house, (y/n) was amazed to see that it looked exactly like her childhood home before she was forced into the hell house of her aunt and uncle. It was all the same, the tan wallpaper, the curtains, the bookshelves, the little TV, everything.
*My POV*
Wow, my parents and my boys together. I can't believe how lucky I am. Now my heaven really is the best of both worlds. And I never want to be away from it again.
We were all gathered around the dinner table for some well deserved breakfast. My mum was cooking in the kitchen with Deacy helping her out while me, my dad and Brian were setting up the table and as for Fred, Roger and my dad were out talking in the backyard.
"Breakfast is ready!" my mum called out from the window. Her and Deacy began bringing in the dishes and even Brian helped out with some of the biscuits.
"Mhm, mum this is so good. Just as I remembered breakfast being." As I took a bite of my pancakes.
"I'm glad you still love it dear. I was worried I had prepared it wrong."
"Nonsense, your cooking is superb (m/n) darling!" Freddie proclaimed.
"That's what I've always told you love." My dad said.
"You're just saying that because I was the cook of the family. Poor man can't even boil an egg without setting it on fire."
"Well that's one thing you and Rog have in common." Deacy teased.
"I got better didn't I?"
"Ten years later, the guy tried to poison us one time during our Japan tour." Brian spoke up.
"You know what Brian?" Roger started as Brian gave him a mocking look.
"Alright boys enough. No fighting at the table!" My mum scolded.
"Sorry Mrs. (l/n)." they both said. Even though they were technically older than my mum, she still had them on their toes. My mum maybe a sweetheart but I guess I inherited my fierceness from her. Screw with her and she blows up and attacks like a lioness.
"Anyways I can't tell you how proud we were of your performance last night (y/n)."
"You both saw the concert?"
"Of course. The Heaven rock and roll concert is open to everyone in heaven that has passed on. So long as you have a love for music and respect the artists that go up there, anyone is welcome to watch. And you were amazing up there love." My dad said.
"Taught her everything she knows, poor dear completely changed after I helped her gain some confidence to own the stage." Freddie said as he playfully ruffled my hair.
"Oh don't we know it, she was always such a shy girl." Mum said.
"Mum." I groaned out.
"In fact, wait right here." She stood up and went over to the bookshelf and pulled out a familiar red album book.
"Oh my god." I muttered.
"Now I have seen that you boys have been neglected in seeing your beloved Rock Angel in her childhood years."
"Mum, mum no!" I begged her. She then turned to Roger and said his name with a wide smile. "Mum, mum please don't!" It soon turned into an all breakout of me trying to take the album away before anyone could reach it, while my mum and the guys were all saying yes.
My mum and I were having a bit of tussle with her trying to give the album to Roger and me trying to stop it. But Roger soon intervened and grabbed the book and it was then I was screwed. I let out a groan and tapped out.
"Okay that's it, goodbye. I'm outta here."
"Oh no you don't, come back here dear." I was pulled back by Fred who kept me in his lap as the album was opened and the guys all either pulled pictures out from the album or passed the book along. My parents each explaining what either photo meant or how old I was in the picture.
Freddie had the picture of me petting a goat and riding a pony. He fawned over the pictures and flipped it over to see that those pictures were from my 5th birthday at petting zoo that was located on a farm about 20 miles away from our house.
"She always wanted to be a ballerina when she was 3 years old." My mum explained as Deacy soon turned a picture over to show me a picture of 3 year old me in a princess tiara and ballerina outfit and tutu. Giving me that pouty face of his almost as if saying 'look at you baby sister.'
"That girl never took that leotard and tutu off for a straight week. Even slept in it every night." I buried my face into my hands as I heard the boys laugh.
Oh god this was embarrassing!
This is why I never wanted the boys to see this album but I should've known that if my parents were in heaven, they'd have this album with them.
I don't know how long the torture was but I was relieved when it finally ended. Of course the boys kept fawning of just how adorable I was and why I kept the fact that I was such a cute child from them this long.
"Alright you all done now?" I asked impatiently as I finally stood up from Fred's lap.
"Oh come off it love, do you have any idea how long we have waited to see these pictures?" Brian stated.
"Too damn long. Now I've got eternal blackmailing against you sister dear." Deacy tormented as he came over to me and got me in a headlock and gave me a noogie.
"Mum! Deacy's trying to blackmail me!" I whined out.
"Tattletale." He grumbled.
"Now, now Deacy don't go blackmailing my daughter." My mum stated firmly as she and Brian began cleaning up the now finished breakfast plates and pans.
"Sorry Mrs. (L/n)." Deacy said. But Roger stood up and whispered something in Deacy's ear and I could see the mischief in both their eyes as they shook hands with each other.
God I only knew trouble was going to come from this, whatever it was that they had planned.
As the day went on, we were back at Garden Lodge studios merely relaxing under the warm sun out in the gardens. I was sitting with Brian and Freddie going over our next concert game plan for tonight's show.
Occasionally I was petting either Bucky or Freddie's two cats Oscar and Romeo who were lying right side by side with Bucky. While Roger and Deacy were playing frisbee with Sammy.
"Something troubling you darling?" asked Freddie. I turned toward him and Brian who were both looking at me concerned.
"I guess."
"You guess?" questioned Brian.
"This may sound silly but....how do you check in on the family and friends you've left behind?"
"You miss Jack and the kids, don't you?" Freddie said. I looked down solemnly.
"It was just so painful for them to see me as I was in my final years. I—just want to make sure they're all okay, especially Jack." They nodded and that's when Freddie said.
"There is a way. Come with me darling." He stood up and helped me onto my feet and we walked back to the house.
We were up in the basement studio and said as he stood in front of the window separating the booth and the lounge area with the controls.
"If at any time we need to see the ones we love, the way to them is through the thing we love. Touch the glass and it'll show your heart's desire." I looked at him like he was crazy but he just nodded telling me to do it. I placed my hand on the glass and said.
"I'd like to see my husband and children, please." Soon the glass shined a light and soon an image of Jack came up.
He was lying in what looked like a hospital bed and I saw our four kids surrounding him, looking like they were about to break down crying.
"Jack." I muttered sadly. "Is he....."
"I don't know darling. He may or he may not. We cannot determine that. All we can do is watch. It pains me because I had to live it so many times seeing you, the lads, David, Elton and my family pass on."
"But he promised me he'd watch out for them after I was gone."
"Guess he couldn't live without the love of his life." The image then disappeared leaving me feel empty and heartbroken. "Oh (y/n)." he softly cooed before I felt his arms wrap around me and I buried my face into his chest as I softly wept.
By around supper time we were back at my parent's place all getting ready to sit down and eat. I was sitting between my dad and Roger while in front of me was Deacy.
I was currently piddling around with my mashed potatoes suddenly not having an appetite after what I had just witnessed.
"Everything okay love?" I heard Roger say.
"Hmm." I hummed.
"Use your words baby girl, now c'mon what's going on?" asked my dad.
"I—I guess I'm not in the mood for potatoes."
"I've got a nice apple pie cooling in the kitchen." Suggested my mum.
"No thanks mum." I set my fork down and sighed solemnly as I leaned against my chair. Before any other questions could be asked we heard the doorbell ring. I felt Rog gently tuck a strand of hair behind my ear before standing up giving me a gentle peck on the top of my head and heading towards the door.
I felt my dad wrap his arm around me allowing me to lean against him.
"Hey (y/n)." I heard Roger say. I looked up at my dad and he told me to go on before kissing the top of my head just like Rog did and I walked from the kitchen over to the front hallway. "Someone's here to see you." He stepped aside and standing there was Jack.
He looked about the exact age when I first met him. The short sandy blonde hair, same outfit, and those same gentle greenish-blue eyes that made my knees grow week.
"Hey (y/n)." I walked right up to him and didn't say a word. "I—god I didn't expect to be here like this but.....look at you. It's like you hadn't aged a day. I—" I gave him a firm slap across the face. He looked at me in shock and I snapped.
"I thought you promised to take care of our kids! The grandkids!"
"I'm sorry but I....when I told you on the day we sailed to Capri for our honeymoon that I would die rather than live a lifetime without you, I literally meant it. I did try to be strong but the stress of the press of them bringing you up. Hounding our children and grandchildren just....." I cut him off by cupping his face and kissing him.
He was stunned for a moment but he relaxed as I felt his arms wrap around my waist and he deepened the kiss. I felt him pick me up and spin me around along the front porch before finally setting me down.
"I've missed you." I whispered.
"I've missed you. I've missed you soo much." I could just see the pain in his eyes. He wasn't just meaning after my death. Since he's had to suffer for 3 years due to my dementia making my mind deteriorate, making me forget him most days or who our kids were. He cupped the side of my face and captured my lips once more.
"So this is the young boy who stole my little girl's heart in the end?" we were forced to separate as not only my parents but the rest of Queen now stood by the front door entrance. Jack looked at my mum and dad wide eyed and said.
"Are—are those two....."
"Jack darling, there are two very special people you haven't met yet. I'd like you to meet my mother (m/n) and father (f/n). Mum, dad this is Jack." Mum was the first one to walk up to Jack with a warm smile.
"So this is the famous Jack Kline. Let me get a good look at you," she placed her hands on his shoulders forcing him to separate from me just a bit as she observed him. She nodded and said with a warm smile, "I'm glad I can finally say this to you in person (Y/n), you definitely picked yourself a handsome young man."
"Thanks mum."
"Thank you Mrs.—"
"Please Jack we're family. Call me mum." She said as she gently cupped the side of his face. He smiled and said.
"Okay.....mom." She hugged him and even though he was at first shocked, he gladly embraced my mum back.
After their embrace he came back towards me and he whispered in my ear, "You look so much like her."
"That's what the guys have been saying all day." I whispered back.
"So glad to see you here with us Jack darling." Freddie said.
"Freddie!" Jack said happily as the two of them hugged each other. Freddie kissed both of my husband's cheeks and said.
"You've done good Jack dear. I've been watching you along with that beautiful wife of yours. And thank you for naming your last baby after me."
"It was really (y/n)'s idea. I just agreed to it. It—felt right at the time."
"Well I appreciate it nonetheless." Jack then turned to Brian who smiled at my husband and the two of them embraced each other as Brian also ruffled my husband's hair.
"Good to see you again Jack."
"And you too Brian. It wasn't the same without you. I still never got the chance to beat you at Scrabble."
"And you never will." Brian bragged.
"It's true my dear, even I have yet to beat him once again, you bastard!" Freddie pipped in. When Jack finally turned towards Deacy, I thought he was going to just breakdown.
"Jack."
"Deacy, I—is it......"
"Who else did you expect, John Lennon?" Jack softly choked out a laugh before Deacy brought him into a hug. I couldn't help but awe at the sweet reunion.
I knew Jack had waited so long to be reunited with his brother, his mentor and dearest friend.
He blamed himself after Deacy's death thinking had he been there for him more, he could've somehow prevented him from dying, even when I assured him that there wasn't anything he nor I could do.
So this was his closure, and I was happy to see that he got it.
After they separated from each other, Deacy playfully ruffed Jack's hair much like Brian did in that typical 'big brother' kind of way.
"I'm sorry. If I—had I know I could've....."
"Hey, it wasn't your fault okay Jack. Listen to me, okay? None of it was your doing. You understand that?" he nodded and embraced Deacy once more.
"I missed you Deacy."
"And I missed you too, my little protegee." It was then the only person he had yet to meet face to face was my dad.
My dad approached him and eyed him up and down as well as circled around him a few times like a lion circling its prey before going for the kill.
"I have seen everything that's happened with my little girl." He told him straight forward.
"E-everything?" Jack choked out nervously.
"Oh yes, everything. But if I had to say out of any guy that tried to win my baby girl's hand. I'm glad it was you son." It seemed to ease Jack's nervousness that was until, "and I was thankful to have another set of eyes looking after my little girl the way I would see fit of the situation, don't you agree Roger?"
"Indeed (f/n)." Roger stated smugly as the two of them clasped hands with each other.
"Dad!" I whined out which made both my real and surrogate fathers chuckle. "But we don't need to worry about this one. He's a good chap."
"Alright enough with the interrogation. Now that we have an extra guest, let's adjust the table and get him some good quality food." I smiled and we all returned back inside for a good meal and some long catching up and family bonding.
Now I won't deny it but I refuse to state that Jack finally got his wish of seeing all of my baby pictures and of course the guys wanted another look at them along with Jack as both my parents told every embarrassing story they could remember from when I was 2 till before the crash.
About a month later the theme for this coming concert was a 'cover performance'. Each artist got the chance to do an entire set based off of their own cover versions of different artists songs. The boys and I got to do songs from Bowie, Elvis, and the Beatles and right now we were gonna take things down a notch.
Brian and I stood by the piano, me sitting on top of it and he sitting at the benches.
"Right first of all we'd like to thank you all once again for coming to see us, it's really been a blast. This next song was written by the wonderful, talented and legend Diana Ross. This song was written for an animated film that hit number 1 in Japan. This is 'If we hold on together'." Brian then began playing the piano and he looked right up at me as he began the song first.
PLAY VIDEO
I joined in on the second bridge staring right back at him before the two of us joined in together in a beautiful duet. His high range angelic voice and my mellow but soft alto voice blended like a beautiful concoction.
*Brian*
Don't lose your way With each passing day You've come so far Don't throw it away
Live believing Dreams are for weaving Wonders are waiting to start *Me*
Live your story Faith, hope and glory Hold to the truth in your heart
*Both*
If we hold on together I know our dreams will never die Dreams see us through to forever The clouds roll by For you and I
Bri and I touched forehead with each other smiling lovingly at each other. The spotlight shined once again but this time on Roger as he lead the next verse gently beating on the drums before being accompanied by Freddie's voice.
*Roger*
Souls in the wind Must learn how to bend Seek out a star Hold on to the end Valley, mountain There is a fountain Washes our tears all away Waves are swaying Somebody is praying Please let us come home to stay
*Roger and Freddie*
If we hold on together I know our dreams will never die Dreams see us through to forever As clouds roll by For you and I
Freddie soon took over for a brief solo, his powerful voice moving the crowd before Rog and Bri joined in. Showing off the three voices that helped make most of the Queen songs as powerful as they were.
*Freddie*
When we are out there in the dark We'll dream about the sun *Freddie, Brian and Roger*
In the dark we'll feel the light Warm our hearts, everyone
Much like Deacy always did whenever they performed Liar, he came right up beside me up close to my mic and the two of us sung together the brief duet before the other three members joined in. And I couldn't help but wrap my arm around my big brother as the two of us sang, and I even felt his arm go around my waist as out heads touched each other's lovingly.
But as we reached the final part of the song, Freddie and Roger joined Brian, Deacy and I at the piano. The five of us coming back together as a family as our voices sung in perfect harmony.
*Me and Deacy*
If we hold on together I know our dreams will never die *All*
Dreams see us through to forever As high as souls can fly The clouds roll by For you and I
We all looked at each other before finally embracing each other in a loving group hug. I patted Roger and Deacy's backs rubbing them as the crowd roared with applause and if anyone had no heart, I'm betting everyone was probably crying, just like we all were at this very moment.
"I love you guys." I said to them into my microphone.
(A/N GO TO 1:37)
The five of us were gathered at the top of a cliffside hill right by the old oak tree with a swing set that once was near my childhood home back on Earth. We all were sat along the edge of small cliff just looking out toward the sky, speaking not a word just enjoying the company of just being together.
As the sun began to rise, the guys all looked down at me and I looked up at them. All four of them just smiling lovingly down at me. Brian pulled me up onto his lap resting his chin on my head, giving it a kiss, Roger rested his head against my left shoulder wrapped his arm around me as he nuzzled against my head kissing my cheek or temple every now and then, I soon felt two different pressures on my lap.
I looked down to see Freddie and Deacy laying head to head of each other on my lap. I stroked through their hairs and down their faces and I felt each of them kiss either my palm or the back of my hand. While they each lifted up a hand to caress my face or wipe away a hidden happy tear that wanted to escape.
This is how I wanted every post-concert performance, every day, every eternity to be like. Here with the four boys that weren't just rockstars to me, but family.
If there was anything I had to say about all of this; if you had told me to describe my life in three simple words, I would always tell you this.
Best. Internship. Ever.

Unfortunately…
Sorry cubs, but What Have I Done shall NOT be continuing.
I’m sorry, but I just feel no motivation to write for it anymore, not only that but I’m very content with where the story ended. Bakugou lost Y/N, Bakugou forcefully brought her back.
Another thing: I am not confident enough in my skills as a writer to be writing a yandere story. I thought it would be easy at first but the depth, plot twists, wording, and storylines are beyond my skills as a writer.
I did the best I could and I’m so sorry to those who so badly wanted to read more of it, but this is where the story ends. I apologize once more but I hope you’ve enjoyed it while it lasted.
Actually, this makes way for me to be able to continue my other story Oh, The Lies You Tell, which I haven’t wrote for in MONTHS!
I also have a new story on the way and many, many more oneshots, drabbles, etc. I have to get done.
I hope you all aren’t too upset and I hope you all aren’t mad at me. I apologize once more and I send nothing but love to all of you.
Also! Since my yandere story didn’t turn out the way we all hoped, I hope I can make it up to you all by recommending these really amazing Bakugou yandere stories I’ve been following!

baby-proofing everything not because they have a child or are planning for one but because one character is clumsy as hell and the other is a worried mess alllll the time because of it with corbyn
a/n: thank you for sending this in anon! i don't know if it's just because i haven't posted in ages but i really like this one, and i hope you do too<3
Baby-proofing the house (c.b.)
Tumblr media
“This really isn't necessary, Corbyn.” You say matter-of-factly, your mug paused in the air below your lips as you watch him bring a filled bag to the counter.
He glances up from the ‘unnecessary’ bag of items at your comment, absent of his usual sweet nickname, glowering. “Are you sure about that, Y/n?” His eyes dip to the fresh, worsening mark on your elbow - evidence of your clumsiness - and merely waits for your sigh of reluctant agreement before returning to unloading the items.
“I’m not a baby.” You pout ironically, furrowed brows deepening wordlessly as you take another irritated gulp of your tea from across the counter. “I don’t need those...” you pause, unable to retrieve the name, settling on “thingies” as you wave a hand vaguely in the direction of the kitchen where he stands, edges and corners of cabinets being donned with foam protectors.
“I just don’t want you getting hurt.” He meets your eye over his shoulder, half smiling, half biting back the chuckle trying to escape his lips. “You know I care about you.” Unfairly, the sweetness of his honest words sends a scorching sensation trailing along your cheeks.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Your gaze drops to your mug on the table, eyes inspecting the cluster of tea leaves floating on the surface, the heat upon your face lingering long after he turns away.
It’s only a few minutes until Corbyn lurches back, standing before the newly embellished kitchen as if admiring the ‘Y/n proofed’ room. He feels your eyes on him, the hint of disapproval in your “is that it? I don’t want people thinking we have a baby when they’re over.”
He turns, laughing lightly. “For now.” He scrunches the packaging in his hands before tossing it in the bin. “I’ll see if we need anything else around the house.” Behind the facade of annoyance, you can’t hide the small jump your heart makes as Corbyn swings around the counter to meet you, thumbs coming up to both sides of you face, softly caressing your skin, before he rests his smile on your frown, giving you a kiss.
“Well, we won’t.” You pull back, your gentle smile straightening with seriousness. As you get up from your seat, your forearm hits against the cold hard edge of the counter.
“Ow!” As soon as the sound tumbles from your lips, the realisation sinks in, but you don’t bother to meet his eyes, and just turn to the bedroom without a second look, ignoring the string of his laughter in your wake.

Sleepy Time
Pairing: Corbyn Besson x Child reader
Type of Story: Family
Warnings: Nothing I can think of
Summary: You won't go to sleep no matter how hard Corbyn tries to get you to.
(Y/G = Your Gender)
*****
" -And they lived happily ever after. The end. " Corbyn yawns while sitting up and closing the fifth book he's read that night. He stretches, his body aching from being in the same position for an hour. Yeah, Y/N's bed is a little uncomfortable but who could resist the adorable puppy eyes Y/G'd given when asking for him to sit next to Y/G.
" Anoter! " Y/N demands, still very awake, unlike Y/G exhausted father.
He'd forgotten just how bad he'd missed sleep when he was away on tour. " No. Sorry, kiddo. Sleepytime. Tomorrow we can read some more, alright? Daddy's tired and needs to go to sleep, so do you. "
Y/N pouts. " But daddy! "
" Y/N. Come on. Please? " Not wanting to fight with his bullheaded child, Corbyn racks his tired brain for something to use as leverage. " If you go to sleep now I'll buy you the Unicorn Ice Cream you wanted today at the store. "
" For breakfast? " Y/N asks with a slight smirk.
" Yes. Fine. For breakfast. " Corbyn knew he'd regret agreeing to this, but hey, when you're sleep deprived you can sometimes get desperate.
" Okay! " Y/N jumps under the paw patrol covers, clutching a Chase stuffy under Y/G arm. " Na' night, daddy. "
Corbyn tucks in Y/N, kissing the child's forehead. " Night, baby. Sleep well. " He turns off the bedside light on the nightstand next to Y/N's small bed. As soon as the main light turns off, the bright night lights Corbyn had set up for Y/N start to shine.
Y/N flips onto her side, closing Y/G eyes with a content sigh. " Love you, daddy. "
" Love you, honey. " Corbyn slowly leaves the room. He closes Y/N's door, leaving it a crack open in case Y/G needs him for some reason. He sighs, already dreaming of sleep in as long as he can. Not that it's likely to be any more than a dream. Knowing Y/N, it's more than likely Y/G'll wake him up before seven.
Corbyn flips the hall light off, closing his door almost completely when entering his room. He falls onto his bed, closing his eyes happily. He starts to drift off when just before Corbyn falls asleep completely, he hears a creak. The creak is followed by little patters on the hallway floor getting a little louder as they get closer to the room. Corbyn takes a breath, knowing exactly who it is. He forces himself up. " Y/N, what are you doing? I told you to go to sleep. " Corbyn narrows his eyes at his young kid.
Y/N ignores his annoyed expression. " Why does my tongue stick to the top of my mouth? I wanna monkey! I'll name him Yoyo! " Y/N says excitedly.
" Y/N, no. We're not getting a monkey. I don't know why tongues stick to the top of people's mouths. " Corbyn stands up. " It's time for bed, Y/N. Not talking time. Come on. Daddy needs to sleep. " Corbyn picks up Y/N, making his way down the hall. " Now go to sleep. " Corbyn turns to leave.
" You didn't tuck me in. " Y/N protests.
Corbyn turns around. " Fine. " He tucks in Y/N tightly, praying Y/G will go to sleep and let him get some rest. " Good night. "
" Night. " Y/N smiles at me.
" Go to sleep. " Corbyn says in a stern tone.
Corbyn makes it back to his room. He once again falls back onto his bed and this time finally falls asleep.
" Daddy? "
Corbyn groans. " Y/N! " He sits up again. " Why are you awake? Why are you here? Didn't I just tell you to go to sleep? Didn't I just tuck you into your bed? " Corbyn snaps.
Y/N frowns. " I'm sorry, daddy. I wanted to give you a hug. "
" Okay. " Corbyn hugs Y/G briefly before leading Y/N back to Y/G room. " This is the last time you'll come to my room, okay? I need to get some sleep. I barely got any sleep on the plane and I had to stay up all night for work. Daddy's really tired. I need to sleep. "
Guilty, Y/N nods. " I'm sorry. "
" Just go to bed. " Corbyn says while quickly tucking Y/N.
" Night. "
Corbyn nods, closing the door completely. Hopefully, that'll stop Y/G from getting out of bed.
Corbyn lays down, closing his eyes again.
The rest is short-lived when a loud crash wakes him up.
" Y/N! " Corbyn shouts, not pretty angry and annoyed. Corbyn storms out of his room. " What did I tell you? " He opens his child's colorful door. " I told you-what are you doing? It's time to sleep! Not play with toys! You keep ignoring what I say! "
" I'm sorry! " Y/N says quietly with tears in Y/G eyes. " I was trying to grab the paper. " Y/N gestures to a stack of colorful papers now scattered on the ground.
Corbyn sighs, feeling bad about snapping at Y/N. " I'm sorry for yelling. " He apologizes.
" You hate me now. " Y/N whimpers.
Corbyn shakes his head. " No. No. I don't hate you. I could never hate you, baby. I'm just really tired. I had a long day. "
Y/N sniffles. " 'M sorry. "
Corbyn nods. " It's okay. " Corbyn looks around at the messy floor. Random toys are thrown around everywhere, littering the ground. " Why won't you go to sleep? "
Y/N looks down at Y/G feet. " I don't want you to leave again. I missed you so so much, daddy. "
Corbyn steps towards Y/N. " Oh. I'm sorry, kiddo. It's hard for me too. I miss you a lot too. " Corbyn picks up Y/N. " I'm trying to be around more, but I've got a job, you know? I can't let your uncles down. "
Y/N buries Y/G head in Corbyn's neck. " 'M sorry for keeping you up. "
Corbyn hugs Y/N tightly. " It's alright. I love you, kiddo. " He mumbles.
" I love you too, daddy. " Y/N wraps Y/G arms around Corbyn's neck. " Can I sleep with you tonight? "
Corbyn nods. " Sure, kiddo. "
The two go back to Corbyn's room, snuggling into the bed with each other.
" Daddy? " Y/N asks.
" Mhm? "
" Can I get a monkey? " Y/N asks.
Corbyn laughs. " No. "
" Awww! "

C a n c e r // G.D. x reader
Based on the cover TOP did of Cancer by My Chemical Romance, because I've been listening to it a lot lately and I felt like writing a depressing oneshot lol
I know this is a WDW fan blog but I like this oneshot and figured I’d post it :)
~~~
"H-hey babe?"
Your droopy eyes open instantly at the sound of his weak voice. The window gave a soft light, which stung my sore eyes. The sky was cloudy, thunder rumbled occasionally in the distance. The lights in the hospital room were off, and the sound of constant beeps from the machines echoed softly in the bland room.
You look over at the hospital bed you're seated across from. There he lay, pale and weak, his voice was a soft whisper. His eyes were glossed over, a dull green compared to the bright hazel they used to be. An oxygen tube ran from his nose and behind his ears, hooked up to a large machine which sat behind him. An IV fed nutrients into his left arm, and his right draped over his stomach carelessly.
His periwinkle wristband was the only color present, in the sea of white that was the hospital room. His hair was a disheveled mess, which he constantly combed through with his fingers, but it didn't do much. He was getting worse and worse by the day, but you didn't want to admit that. You knew that the cancer growth was higher than ever, no medicine or treatment helped at all, but you didn't want to tell him. His tongue darted out, gliding over his faded, chapped lips. "Yes Grayson?" You reply softly, sitting up in the hard plastic chair.
"Could you get me a glass of water please?" He asks quietly. You nod, getting up. You go up to the entrance, glancing back at him before leaving the room, closing the heavy wooden door behind me softly. You quickly walk down the hall, retrieving the glass of water my lover requested.
"Y/N?" A deep voice came from behind you, one you recognized right away. Ethan. He was always much louder than Grayson, but his voice wasn't as deep as his twin’s. Grayson has always been more soft spoken. But today, Ethan almost sounded like Gray, speaking much quieter than normal. You turn around, and as expected, Ethan stood before me, towering over my small frame. "Hi Ethan." You reply, plastering a smile onto your lips. "How are you?"
He fiddled with his hoodie string anxiously. "I'm doing okay, I guess. You?"
"I'm fine."
"Okay."
We begin the long walk back to Gray's room in silence. After a minute or so, Ethan cleared his throat and turned towards me, stopping. "How is he?" Ethan asks quietly.
You sigh deeply, looking down at the vans on your feet. You break the facade, taking a shaky breath before you speak. "He's getting worse..." Tears blur your vision, and you blink them away quickly. "N-nothing's working, and t-the doctors said he doesn't have much time left and-"
Ethan cuts you off, embracing you in a brotherly hug. "Y/N. I know, it's hard and it seems like he doesn't have much time, but he's going to get better, I promise. I know my twin, he's too strong to let this get to him."
"y-yeah, I guess you're right."
"I know, now come on. I want to go see my brother." He smiles at you before letting go and walking to Gray's room, you follow behind him. He opens the large door with a sudden burst of confidence. "Hey bup." You walk in right after, shutting the door behind me. "Hey E." Gray gives his twin a tight smile, his  glassy eyes dark with pain. "How are you?" Ethan asks in a sickly positive tone. You hand Grayson the small glass of water, which he drank from slowly.
Grayson sat up, running his hand through his hair. "The same, I guess. How are mom and dad?"
"They've been busy working lately, but they're doing well."
They continue talking as you sit in my usual seat, playing aimlessly with the engagement ring on my finger. You watched Gray talk to his brother, as weird as that sounds, taking in every moment he has left.
~~~
It was dusk now, the sun slowly sinking into the horizon. The cloud filled sky now a bright array of colors. You had moved the small plastic chair next to the hospital bed, your small, dainty hand in Gray's large one. Ethan had left an hour ago, since he had to edit a video tonight.
Grayson let go of my hand, looking away from the window. "Y/N."
"Yes, Gray?"
"Sit with me."
"Okay." You get up and slowly sink into the hard mattress as he wraps his arm around my waist slowly.
"I'm sorry." he whispers softly.
"What for? You haven't done anything wrong, Gray." You reply, looking up at him with a worried expression. He sighs, looking away. "You shouldn't have to deal with this. You deserve so much better than this."
"Gray..." I reach up and turn his face towards me. His glassy, pain filled eyes welled with tears, which you wiped away gently. "It's fine, I promise." You reassure, "I'm going to stay with you no matter what."
He sighed, looking down at your intertwined hands. "sorry, I guess my brain is a little soggy from the chemo." his face contorts from pain for a split second, quickly going back to normal.
You grip his right hand a little tighter. "You okay?" He nods.
"I know I'm not getting better, you don't have to hide it."
"W-what?" surprise washes over you.
He looks down at you with a small smile. "it's fine I promise."
Thunder rumbles in the distance as rain patters softly against the large window.
"I understand why you tried to hide it, but it's quite obvious I don't have many days left. The way the nurses look at me tells me I'm definitely gonna die soon."
You sigh, leaning on his shoulder. "I'm sorry. I didn't want you to worry."
"its fine, I promise. But please, just be honest with me about it." He replies, "Besides, cancer is just a side effect of dying."
"I guess."
You sit up and go to kiss his lips, only to be met with his cheek. He sighs, looking away. "I can't kiss you..."
He pauses, and the two of you sit in silence for what feels like forever.
"You deserve so much better than this. I'm surprised you haven't left yet."
"Grayson, you know I'm not going to leave."
"Well you should." Gray lashes out, raising his voice. "I don't want to have to leave you first..." he chokes up, pulling you closer. He rests his head on yours, burying his nose into your hair. You pulled him closer, letting out a soft sigh.
"It's okay Gray." You say sympathetically.
"I wish I could've at least married you before all this happened. Or go back in time and do so much more with you. Or-"
"Grayson. It's okay."
"Y/N. It's not, you don't have to hide it."
"Gray-"
"No. You need to leave."
Your eyes widen with shock. He gives me a hard stare, pulling away. He takes your right hand in his, pulling the dainty metal band off of your ring finger.
“Don’t make this harder for me, please.”
"Grayson I'm going to stay with you. Why do you even want me to leave?" You question, staring back at him defiantly.
"I'm going to end up hurting you."
Your sigh heavily, taking his hands into yours. "It's fine Grayson-"
"No! You don't understand. The hardest part about all of this isn't the stupid cancer, when I die I'm going to end up leaving you. Please, leave me first. I don't want to hurt you." His large, doe-like eyes fill with grief.
You give in, getting up.
"I will always love you, Grayson."
"I love you."
A bit of a cheesy ending but I didn’t know how to end it sksksksksk

: :Tour Bus /Bunk Beds: :wdw x reader
Summary: When one of the members jokes comes to life you end up embarrassing yourself. [Based off of the Halogen where Zach was talking about falling out of their tour bus bunks]
Word count: 706
Warning: Falling off a bunk bed.
A/N: Based on the Halogen where they asked if anyone had fallen from their bunks in the tour bus before. So yeah, with that said, continue reading.
Tumblr media
I was on the tour bus with the boys. I was their photographer and tonight they had finished their first concert of the tour. While they had been out a bit with the fans,  I had gone to the bus before them to change into my pajamas and maybe checking the photos I had taken after catching up on social media.
The boys went into the bus laughing and kind of sweaty... and they stunk. Actually, you know what? Just ignore what I just said. "Hey, guys,"  I called them over. "Just need to make sure you're okay with the pictures." I turned my laptop a little as a sign for them to come to look.
"You know we don't mind any of them," said Corbyn as they came over to see.
"I still need to make sure," I tell him. "Just in case." They said all of the pictures where okay and we hung out a bit on the bus. Finally, after a while, I felt sleep coming and told the guys I was going to go to sleep. "I'm going to go to sleep."
"Be careful not to fall from your bunk Y/n!" said Zach. I glared at him and went to my bed. I closed the curtain and pulled my phone out. I was bored and needed to do something to make me feel tired. I chose to go onto Wattpad. I know, I know. Please don't judge me, but anyway I got onto Wattpad and started reading stories that limelights had written about the boys. Some were cringe-worthy and some not as much. It may sound weird but I wanted to see what fans thought it would be like to be in a relationship with Corbyn, Jack, Zach, Jonah, and Daniel (my personal favorite is Never Let Go by acoolusernamethatidk).
After reading a whole bunch of fanfiction (of many different fandoms),  I felt that it was my time to rest, at last. I turned off my phone and went to sleep. Hopefully, I slept well enough to not fall face-first into my cereal first thing in the morning.
Daniel POV
I woke up to the song Cotton Eye Joe playing. Nah, I'm just kidding. I woke up to the sound of something falling near me. I pulled back the curtains to see it was morning. I looked down at the ground. To be honest, I never thought I'd see what I just saw.
Y/n lay on the ground in a very weird position. Did she just fall from her bunk? I thought. Was she okay?
I looked left and right. Was anyone else awake? I got out of my bed and squatted next to Y/n's sleeping body. I poked her shoulder to see if she would wake up. Obviously, she didn't. I mean, Y/n's a very deep sleeper, and I mean very deep sleeper. I put my hand on her shoulder and on her back and shook her awake (or at least tried to). She mumbled something I didn't understand,
"What's going on?" asked Jack sleepily from his bunk.
"I'm trying to wake Y/n up but she's not moving," I say.
"Why's she on the ground?"
"I think she may have fallen from her bunk," Jack was now out of his bed and next to me. "Let's move her to the couch." Jack nodded. We moved her and then waited for the rest to wake up.
Zach POV
"Ow! My arm!" I heard someone scream. That was what I woke up to. May I say it was not pleasant.
"You fell from your bunk thirty minutes ago and now is when you scream in pain?" I heard Daniel say after the scream. "You literally just woke up and you scream about something that happened half an hour ago."
I got out of bed (against my will) in curiosity about what was happening. "What's going on?" I ask groggily.
"Y/n fell out of her bunk," said Jack. I turned to look at Y/n.
"I told you to be careful last night didn't I Y/n," I say. Y/n glared at me. She was holding the arm that I assumed was hurt. She stuck out her tongue.
"Shut up Herron."

Daniel missed Jonah’s text message that Friday. The cold front had let up and Daniel jumped at the opportunity to plough the fields, leaving his cell phone by the barn as he did so. It was a warm day for mid-April so he drove the tractor along the rows of fields shirtless in only light wash blue jeans and black work boots. As he headed back down another stripe of land, he noticed a car pulling up the driveway in the distance so he pulled the tractor to the end of the plot and turned it off to greet whoever was approaching.
Jonah’s car stopped outside the farmhouse and Daniel dropped by the barn to grab his white tank top from where he had left it beside his phone, glancing down at the screen long enough to see the missed text and few missed calls.
“Daniel!” Jonah greeted as he got out of the car.
“Hey.” Daniel smiled lightly as he trekked across the dirt path to the gravel driveway, wiping the sweat from his forehead and chest with his shirt and smudging the dirt from his hands on his jeans. “Sorry I didn’t get your text…was trying to make use of the warm weather.”
“No problem.” Jonah assured him, the men sharing a handshake as Daniel approached.
Jocelyn got out of the car, followed by another woman about her same age. The two women walked around to the other side of the car to greet Daniel and he pulled on his shirt in their presence.
“Daniel, this is Blythe.” Jocelyn introduced, gesturing to the brunette girl at her side, “She’s the friend I was telling you about.”
“Oh, yeah, of course.” Daniel held out a hand, “Nice to meet you.”
Blythe smiled, squinting lightly in the bright afternoon sun as she took his handshake despite the soil that stained his callused skin, “You too.”
Her eyes lingered on the flower tattooed along his forearm under the light sheen of sweat that had formed from the day’s work. Said arm swiped along his forehead when their handshake broke and Daniel took a deep breath, his chest rising under the slightly damp material of his tank top.
“If you’re busy, we can come back.” Jonah said.
“No. No, no. That’s fine.” Daniel assured them, “I just got caught up…my fault. I would have put on a clean shirt if I knew you were on your way already.”
He took an almost nervous step back and set his hands on his hips for a moment in thought. Jocelyn and Jonah exchanged lighthearted glances.
“Why don’t you show us to the gardens?” Jocelyn asked.
“Right. Yeah. Of course.” Daniel agreed quickly and waved them after him around to the back of the red brick farmhouse and past the chicken coop.
The back garden was expansive, flower gardens plotted, dug out, trimmed, and planted by Marigold herself when they first moved in all those years ago. Every year she took precise care to make sure her gardens were at their best and over the last year, everything got a bit messy. Weeds were peeking up through the soil and the grass and early budding perennials starting to look a bit overgrown, empty spaces where the annuals had died off causing ungraceful cuts in the flow of the gardens.
Daniel cleared his throat as they stopped in the middle of the backyard for a moment, “This is most of the garden…as well as the ones lining the front porch and path out front. A lot of them are hydrangeas but they got a bit overgrown last summer…and the hedges.” Daniel led them around the gardens and pointed to each area and listed off what plants usually grew in each spot., “We have a little of everything usually…few roses over there, variety of tulips, hyacinth…a couple of chrysanthemums, snapdragons, m-marigolds, um, dahlias, geraniums…and the inpatients, petunias, and pansies are usually around the front gardens.”
“You sure know your flowers.” Blythe chuckled as they fell to a stop under the large oak tree in the centre of the backyard.
He glanced back at her and smiled politely, “Yeah…comes with the years of practice, I guess.”
“It’s good. Helpful if you want to keep it all the same. I know my way around a florist and garden store myself.”
“Good…yeah, good.” Daniel nodded, setting his hands on his hips as he forced himself to look away from her focussed green eyes and to take a breath.
New people weren’t often seen in Lincoln.
Daniel turned around in place and looked to the back of the backyard, “Oh…few sunflowers by the fence and the garden shed is over here.”
He led their little group over to the small white paneled wood shed by the back fence. He hadn’t opened it in over a year but he turned the unclasped the metal hook that kept the door closed and he pushed it open. A cloud of dust that floated in the streaks of sunlight pooling through the small window fell out when he opened it and they all coughed through it.
“Sorry.” Daniel said, braving the dust to reach in and pull the string to turn on the little light on the ceiling. The sunlight glinted off the gold ring on his left hand and accentuated the dark ink making up the marigold flower tattooed into his skin as he lowered his arm again, “Haven’t really be in here for a while.”
The shed was really only big for one or two people with lots of shelves and cubbies for gardening tools and supplies and there was a flat table bench for any potting or flower prep that needed to be done. A light dusting of soil was still on top of the wood top.
“Everything’s kind of all over the place.” Daniel said, his voice wavering as he looked around the shed, “All the tools should be in here though.”
“I can take of that. It’ll be dusted and tidied up in no time.” Blythe assured him.
He pulled a tight smile but couldn’t meet her eye as he nodded lightly.
As if the comic relief from Daniel’s own internal stresses, loud barking came from the direction of the house and the Jack Russel Terrier came barrelling down the back porch steps and across the grass. Daniel shuffled out of the shed to get to the dog but he was already jumping at Blythe’s legs, barking loudly at her.
“Hey.” Daniel scolded the dog, “Sidney, no. Sit.”
With a wagging tail, the dog still jumped at her until Daniel had to scoop him up.
“Sorry about that.”
“That’s alright. I don’t mind dogs.” Blythe smiled widely, “Can I pet her?”
“Yeah.” Daniel stepped closer so she could give the dog a scratch behind the ears, “And he’s a boy.”
“Sidney? A boy’s name?”
“Like Sidney Crosby.” Daniel explained, “The NHL hockey player.”
“I see.” Blythe chuckled as Sidney licked excitedly at her fingers.
Jonah and Jocelyn huddled up too to give a bit of love to the squirming pup who was loving the attention. When Daniel finally put him down and patted his bum to send him back to the house, their group continued on with their little tour.
“We also have a cat around here somewhere. Her name’s Lady. She’s very quiet.” Daniel explained casually as they headed back towards the front yard.
They stopped at the chicken coop, framed in mesh wire to keep them all inside their own little yard and a few brown chickens pecked at the feed that was laid out for them. Daniel had built the chicken coop himself as well…his first project when they moved to town. He set his hand on top of the hen house and then crouched down to see inside.
“My son is generally in charge of the chickens…he named then when he was small…mostly hockey names again: the hens are Puck, Bobbie, and Howie…and the roosters are Wayne, Mitch, and Jimmy the Second.”
Blythe chucked lightly, “Where’s Jimmy the First?”
Daniel cleared his throat awkwardly and rubbed a hand through his hair as he stood back up, “I, uh…accidentally ran him over with my truck about three years ago.”
The group of them laughed – Jonah and Jocelyn knowing the story well and Blythe shocked by hearing it for the first time – and Daniel pulled a tight smile at the memory of it as he tapped his fingers against the roof of the chicken coop.
“Yeah…” he sighed, “My four-year-old didn’t speak to me for a week.”
“Oh my…I hope he didn’t see it happen.” Blythe said.
Daniel cringed, “No, he certainly saw it. Never heard the kid scream so loudly.”
“I swear we heard it from our house.” Jonah agreed.
Daniel chuckled softly, “Yeah, probably.”
They continued the tour of the property from the barn where Daniel introduced the two horses – Apollo and Venus – and the milk cow – Hershey, cleverly named by a young Lennox – and then skimmed over the half-ploughed fields and down the rest of the property to show all the trees and islanding gardens the stretched down to the road.
“Think you can handle all this land?” Jonah asked Blythe as they made their way back to the house.
“Oh yeah. I’m already excited with even just the concept of working in this beautiful town.” Blythe answered easily. She looked over at Daniel, “Did you want to see pictures of some of my previous work? I’ve had a few clients in the past back home.”
“Yeah…that’d be great.” Daniel said with slight relief.
They stood by Jonah’s car and she flicked through a few pictures on her phone, explaining here and there her usual techniques and whatnot. Daniel couldn’t deny that she was certainly qualified for the work but seeing someone who wasn’t Marigold working in the gardens was going to be strange. He set a hand over the tattoo on his left forearm casually as he tried to focus on the last few pictures Blythe was showing him. He couldn’t let the gardens go another year without attention.
He spoke before he could second guess, “Can you start Monday?”
With his offer eagerly accepted, they all said their goodbyes and Daniel waved them off as Jonah drove the three of them back to town. When he was alone once more, Daniel set his hands on his hips and let out a heavy exhale, blinking back the tears that were forming in his light eyes. He bowed his head as he turned back to the fields that needed ploughing and swallowed back the strange feeling of guilt that was bubbling up inside him.
Lennox came home at 3:00 like every day and they had their usually routine of homework, dinner, and hockey practice. Since it was Friday night, they left the arena and headed across the street to the pub and restaurant, leaving their bags in the bed of the pickup truck in exchange for Daniel’s acoustic guitar. With a CocaCola for Lennox and a beer for Daniel, they shared a plate of nachos at their usual table up front by the small stage. Every Friday night, the pub ran a little open mic where a few townsfolk could play a few songs and Daniel was usually a big hit ever since Marigold pushed him up onto the stage on their very first night in town.
Daniel didn’t consider himself to be a skilled musician – he had a hint of stage fright that kind of got in the way – but he was familiar with his guitar and could carry a tune quite well and he found himself singing a few songs for the townsfolk every Friday night for the last nine years. A crowd favourite (and Marigold’s favourite)? ‘Thank God I’m a Country Boy’ by John Denver and the whole crowd would be clapping along as Daniel kept the upbeat tune on his acoustic and the cheer lyrics filled the building from the single crackling microphone.
Lennox loved watching his father play up on the stage and he always stood up on the bench to applaud after each song. Daniel just always looked so happy in the single spotlight on the small stage and Lennox loved seeing his father happy, the tap of his boot on the wooden flooring, the sparkle in his eyes, and the way his fingers plucked at the strings with ease.
After a few requests and a few more songs, Daniel’s few moments of weekly small town fame would come to an end and he would finish with the same song every time. Cover Me Up. He hadn’t played that song in over a year; and no one dared to ask him to. It was his song with Marigold…the song he danced with her to the night she died…and he hadn’t dared let his fingers form the chords without her.
With a final song played – this time it was some Luke Combs classic – the crowd applauded and Daniel returned to his table where Lennox was cheering loudly, already a little hyper on the large soda he drank.
“Thank you, thank you.” Daniel laughed lightly, setting his guitar against the wall and helped get his rambunctious seven-year-old sitting properly on the bench.
“Daddy, you’re gonna be famous.” Lennox stated as he shoved more nachos in his mouth.
“Nah, I’m never gonna be famous, Spud. But I appreciate your enthusiasm.” Daniel chuckled, passing over a paper napkin to wipe at the cheese that was smeared over his son’s face. “You’re gonna come up there and sing with me one day, right?”
Lennox munched his snack in thought, “Maybe.”
Daniel leaned his forearms on the table top and watched his little boy finish up the rest of the nachos while enthralled by the next person who had taken the stage. His light brown hair was getting long and was almost flopping in his wide blue eyes and when he pushed it haphazardly away from his face, he smeared some nacho cheese across his forehead. He was young still. And oblivious to his father’s complete, unwavering, unconditional adoration for him.
