Post-canon AU where XL is cursed into a weasel- no one but HC, MQ, and FX know.

Thus, while everyone rushes to find a cure to turn XL back to human, the Xianle hooligans argue over who gets to care for their weasel dianxia and end up playing an endless game of “steal the weasel!”

This begins by FX swiping XL under HC’s nose because he wants to take care of his highness, damn it! Screw that hogging husband of XL’s.

MQ’s subordinates report to their general that General Nan Yang has acquired a little weasel and dotes on it by the hour. MQ’s temper visibly flares and he stomps over to FX’s palace and easily tempts the weasel into his own clutch with a few steamed buns.

HC shows up out of the shadows a day later, secretly getting his husband back in the safety of their home.

And so the cycle continues.

In their haste to snatch XL away as quickly as possible, HC, MQ, and FX have all smuggled XL away in so many bizarre ways.

MQ just straight up carrying XL by his nape-

XL squeaks happily throughout it all, munching on all the food he’s fed, a little guy just here for the ride.

No one has found a viable solution yet. They’ve tried several methods of potions, reversal enchantment arrays, and foods with magic properties. Nothing has worked.

LW was notified on FX and MQ’s behalf as an additional resource while HC reached out to HX for any scrap of information. Very soon, everyone else hears about the absurd curse that has turned the former Prince of Xianle into a weasel.

A week goes by, and HC, MQ, and FX have all gathered in the mortal realm for a 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 showdown on who gets to keep XL for the rest of the time he’s a weasel.

Before the battle becomes too heated, HC notices a lack of spiritual energy from the weasel. For some reason, it doesn’t hold any of XL’s presence at all!

He confirms this finding by holding out his hand with the palm facing upward. Instead of putting a small paw on top, the weasel simply stares back, eyes empty.

A check for the red string on the middle finger rewards the Xianle knuckleheads with the realization that THIS WEASEL IS NOT DIANXAI!

SINCE WHEN? AND WHERE IS XL NOW OH GOSH???

HC snarls a few nasty curses at MQ and FX because surely it must’ve been their mistake, before following the red string from his finger that stretches to a far away place.

MQ and FX grumble before hastily following.

Turns out, when HX heard about the whole predicament with the “heavenly emperor had been cursed into a weasel! And now the ghost king and heavenly officials are having a show off with who can change him back first!”

He gets tired of it. Really quickly.

Which leads to HX stealing XL from under Fengqing’s noses (they were to busy arguing to notice the Indiana-Jones-style-swap) and successfully searching for the cure himself.

One week after HX reversed the curse and safely returns XL to a fuming HC, gossip around the heavenly realm now talks about how MQ was suddenly cursed into a cat and FX a dog-

Not a curse though.

It has Crimson Rain written all over it.

A business man from lands far away he settled into a new town, far from the hustle and bustle he was accustomed to. The little town had it's appeal he supposed but his gambling, thrill seeks heart couldn't just settle into peaceful life indefinitely.

He takes frequent trips to the city before returning with enough money to live comfortably.

What he did on his days away no one knew and he liked it that way. He had what he needed and had a calm city of hard working people where everyone was friendly enough for his liking. People didn't question him much and those that did were easy enough to weasel his way out of having to answer.

Schedule: Aventurine's schedule is the same Monday through Friday. He lives at the Inn and will be there until 9:00 am when he goes down to Rose Plaza. He will stay at Rose Plaza until 3:00 pm. He then goes to the Beach from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm before returning to the Inn.

On Saturday and Sunday he will be out of town the entire day.

If he is married he starts his day in his spouses home before repeating the same schedule. He will leave before the player character wakes up every Saturday and Sunday unless it falls on a holiday or anniversary.

Musings about Mu Qing’s Feelings Towards Xie Lian

Since Mu Qing won the “polls” on twitter last night, I thought I’d bully him a bit and publish this pseudo-meta. I had trouble understanding him at first, until it hit me at some point that it’s not entirely impossible that he may have harbored unrequited romantic feelings for Xie Lian--which helped explain a lot of things.

This is super rough since it’s what I tossed out on one of my discord servers, so it may have some typos/etc. And it’s just my personal interpretation, so take that as you will!

MQ probably felt Some Way™ for XL ever since their childhood days, and you see it during book 2 especially when you get to see XianLe trio's happy background. It's easy to fall in love with someone who essentially pulled you out of the dirt, and then continuously protected you from scrutiny by taking it on to themselves. Easier still when that person is someone like XL. For all that MQ b!tches, he didn't actually hate being XL's servant back then. He didn't mind the work, and he definitely was grateful for the opportunity to be so close to XL, all the time. But what he resented was undoubtedly the fact that his status was so much lower than XL's to the point that XL was completely and utterly unattainable (not just romantically, platonically as well). And his frustration and anger over this often presented itself whenever XL did nice things for him. Because it wasn't that MQ didn't appreciate that, but that it further cemented the idea that XL was beyond reach. XL could do as he pleased, as the crown prince, and it was clear he would never see MQ the way MQ wanted to be seen. An equal, on the same playing field.

CONTINUED UNDER THE CUT DUE TO LENGTH:

And thus when XL fell from grace, MQ had mixed feelings. Finally, XL was off that pedestal, but somehow he was even harder to reach than ever. And it hurt MQ to see him that way--frustrated, reckless, and so so so human. Because it forced MQ to confront the nature of his feelings towards XL and it just wasn't something he could do because he himself at the time didn't understand how he felt, or why. So he LEFT.

But he didn't leave out of malicious intent--he needed space to process, and furthermore, he couldn't see XL suffering. "Maybe I can find a way to fix this." Which is why he probably cultivated like crazy to ascend, so he could drag FX and XL up to middle court, and keep them safe and provided for. MQ is not at all in tune with his emotions at this point, though, so it came off all sorts of wrong. And he's also the type of person to be like "the ends do justify the means" which is why his 'betrayal' on the mountain, with the other heavenly officials, happened at all. He could stand up for XL then, but then alienate himself from the others and hurt his chances at being able to help XL in the long run. Or he could just keep his mouth shut for now and find a way to make it up to XL later. (Which is what he tries, with the food he brings after that.) But he doesn't understand that this betrayal is so fundamentally damaging to XL, because XL has only one thing left at all: the notion that friends will stand by you. MQ already damaged this by leaving, but when he betrayed XL on the mountain, that was the final straw. XL's trust and the last shred of hope he had was shattered. That's why XL lashed out so badly (and would do so later at FX), but MQ didn't understand how important it was once again--because he himself isn't that introspective or good with his emotions. But this event cemented itself in MQ's mind forever. It's the one thing he holds against himself the most, even if he doesn't admit it. Because that's when he broke the person he was trying to fix.

MQ definitely tries to get on with his life after this, and he does, but he never lets it go--because he never lets anything go. And when XL ascends, it's finally his chance to do right by him, but he is still repressed as hell and doesn't know how to do that straightforwardly. He camps in the communication array from the MOMENT XL ascends to look out for news about XL. LW even remarks on this like "wow you seem to have a lot of time on your hands--you've been in the array 24/7 lately." It's because, well, he has. He's keeping watch. And the second he gets the info he needs on XL's first assignment, he (and FX) absolutely yeets down there to help because what else is he supposed to do? He's not gonna let a spiritual energy-less XL fend for himself. He still has a sense of duty towards XL, and that massive guilt he's been carrying around all this time. But he's too proud to admit that he wants to help, so he and FX just disguise themselves and do it anyway. MQ is continuously perceptive during this to XL's situation and is equal parts shocked/taken-aback and oddly satisfied. Once again, XL seems so so so far away. Still unreachable, but now differently so.

Which is why he has SUCH a distaste for HC, moreso than FX does, because HC has managed to weasel his way into XL's life and make himself a somewhat permanent fixture. That's what MQ wanted to be, and was never able to achieve, so “how the hell did HC do that in a matter of days?!” But it becomes clear to MQ, especially around book 3, that HC has already "won" so to speak. (And as an aside--MQ was genuinely upset at the Battle of the Lanterns not because XL won, but because it was such an overt romantic gesture from HC and he knew it. FX was really chill about it because he didn't realize that and also didn't really care. But XL notices that MQ's expression was very dark and unreadable at the time, and it's easy to see why.) When MQ taunts HC at the end of book 3, it's INCREDIBLY revealing. Because he accuses HC of a lot, and a lot of it is straight-up projection too. Which HC immediately recognizes and throws back at him. HC has also probably known from a very very long time, too, because he would know desire for XL when he sees it, better than anyone. (Not to mention the bad blood between HC and MQ ontop of all this! Big RIP there.)

But MQ is, if anything, at least a gracious loser. In a way. In book 5 he admits that he finds XL spectacular, and that he would like to try to be friends from thereon. FX and XL are almost baffled by this because it feels unspoken that they already were, but to me, it always felt like MQ was purposefully re-defining their relationship for himself. Which is a healthy step forward! And by the end of the Ghost King's Birthday extra, he understands that Hualian are a paired set and while it still annoys him, he's coming to terms with it. He's one of the few people that really get even a fraction of Hualian's love for each other, because he knows what it feels like to love XL.

*Keep in mind that these are just my personal musings based on how I chose to interpret things. None of this is confirmed, just fun to consider! This is less a straight-up MQ meta and focused particularly on his feelings towards XL, so I’ve left a lot of things about his characterization out as well. He’s a complicated and interesting character and that would take a whole ‘nother post, whew!

A Simple and Most Humble Anthology of Brief Post-War Headcanons:

•   after reformation,   ferdinand downsizes the aegir estate quite a bit.    he turns the extravagant private garden into a public garden,   renovates a section of the stables into an equestrian school,   opens up the ballrooms for public use,   etc.   it is still,   of course,   as luxurious as ever.

•   he ends up in politics no matter what.   default CF he becomes prime minister,    and every other route he goes on to help govern fódlan at large.   in non-CF routes,   his position is similar to lorenz’s solo ending:   he serves as the representative for the lords and people of old adrestia. 

•   he is a classic workaholic.   he is extremely diligent in all things and will very often pick up the slack of his colleagues,   and on top of his government work he is still tending to his own territories’ affairs as well as the family stables.   he can be surprisingly stubborn about this,   and will sneakily weasel his way out of anyone’s concerns.   i.e.,   “   i promise i will go to bed as soon as i finish this letter,   ”   he will say,   while neglecting to mention that he is on page 3 of 30. 

•   that being said,   he is above all else a family man.   he will try his absolute hardest to never let his work get in the way of spending time with his family,   be his family just his spouse or a spouse with many children.   he would ride through the night from enbarr / capital city back home to see his child’s ballet recital / sparring tournament / what-have-you in a heartbeat,    or if his spouse was having a hard time without him.

•   he retires duke’s pride xxxix from everything strenuous  and uses him purely for leisure rides,   allowing him to live out his remaining years happily frolicking through the fields à la black beauty.   duke’s pride xxxix does go on to sire at least one foal,   duke’s pride xl,   which ferdinand gifts to his eldest child as per aegir tradition.  

•   he is a huge patron of the arts,   personally funding a variety of artistic endeavors,   most commonly operas.   he attends absolutely every opera about the war that features him as a character,   and though his attendance draws high publicity,   he is also their loudest critic.   he has several quibbles particularly,  exclusively,   with how he is played;   in the same breath,   he will praise that hubert,   who is portrayed just as if not more hyperbolically,   is fantastically accurate. 

•   he picks up blacksmithing as a hobby.   though he usually makes ornate arms and armors   ( often for display and artistry rather than practicality ),    he also loves to make trinkets,   baubles,   and jewelry for his spouse and children.   

•   he grows a beard.   it is a full,   sharp,   squared verdi beard and it is meticulously maintained.   there is never a hair out of place,   nor a crumb to be found.   however,   this is extremely verse dependent because if his spouse does not like it,   or is even simply impassive towards it,   he will shave it immediately.

Looking back on 2019 I decided to list a handful of political / alternative news websites rather than films, albums or books. In the UK the corporate media stooped to shocking new lows during our recent General Election campaign. Such dirty tactics are to be expected of conglomerates owned by the likes of Rupert Murdoch and his fellow right wing billionaires but this time around, previously ‘liberal’ outlets such as the BBC and Guardian also fully participated in the outrageous lies, smears and character assassination against the leader of the opposition Labour Party. The British population were now being forced fed the Establishment’s propaganda du jour from every possible direction. Personally I try to gather my information from as many alternative outlets as possible to contrast with the 24 hour corporate brainwashing we’re subjected to these days. I’ve listed just five sites from the dozens I regularly visit and although I certainly don’t agree with everything expressed on these sites I do feel that it essential that in supposed free and democratic societies we are at least exposed to a variety of viewpoints and opinions - rather than being trapped inside social media echo chambers in an Internet that is increasingly controlled and censored by sophisticated algorithms and where politically correct digital lynch mobs accuse anyone with an opinion that contradicts the official narrative of being a Russian agent! Anyway, a Happy New Year to you all and here’s hoping 2020 sets the new decade off in roaring style!

2019 was far from my favorite year. Regardless, I managed to release not one, but two new double albums by The Flying Luttenbachers (as well as two European tours with the unit) in addition to the usual slew of improvised music gigs and releases, and co-ordinating and producing an archival release of vintage NYC weirdness (Ozone). I also rocked Mexico City with Lydia Lunch Retrovirus, played a ridiculous gig with Encenathrakh, and disbanded Cellular Chaos (for now, at least).

When I become obsessed (or re-obsessed with something), it usually leads to a ton of proselytizing Facebook status posts. Combing my 2019 posts, it seems that my musical obsessions this year weren't very highbrow. Ha ha ha. Yes, I'm super into Xenakis, Cecil Taylor and whatever else, but dumber music can supply great creature comfort, and I guess I needed that in large amounts, so that's what it was. Sometimes badass modernists have to take time out to stay in bed all day and read comics because it's a hard cold world out there.

Murder weasel went back to the shelter yesterday to find a better home. We will miss some of his more endearing qualities but we wish him luck in finding someone who loves every bit of him!

So... meet our second attempt, Ahi XL! Chief Chonk, the absolutest unit, literally the biggest cat I've seen in my entire life. He is 20.4 pounds and every ounce of that is pure love. His purrs are as big as he is, and his meows are tiny and soft. He loves nothing more than rubbing up against you with the force of a truck and snuggling in your lap to crush you with the weight of his affection. He is an angel and I would take a bullet for him.

We will make this friendship work at all costs. We are NOT returning this cat. Tuna will just have to deal with her giant new brother because she sure as hell won't win in a fight against a creature double her size.

Fire On Fire

Thinking about a shapeshifter AU where predators and the prey are segregated via borders. The prey inhabit lands with better resources and environment while the predators reside in areas with harsh weather conditions and animals that did not evolve into shapeshifters for them to hunt.

The council of ancestors that determined these borders consisted of both prey and predator representatives, as every species lived in harmony during this time. But because the populations were rising at an incredibly high rate, establishing official borders seemed to be the next viable step. 

The council granted the prey lands where the sun shines and the crops flourish because those were the best conditions for their kinds to survive. Despite the predators being pushed to the areas with fewer domestic resources, the council had hoped they would maintain amicable relationships with the prey, to trade or ask for help when they needed. 

This arrangement worked up until the last ancestor from the council passed away.

After this, history became histories. 

The prey gradually painted predators as selfish creatures, greedy for more than the lands they were assigned. Prey are also taught that though predators worked with them in the past, their selfish and violent nature couldn’t be contained. That’s why predators were assigned lands far away in obscure places: to protect the prey from their advances.

(Only a few select predators were allowed within the prey walls. This is after an extensive background check, an adjusted diet, and constant monitoring.)

The predator society claims that the predator ancestors were tricked into a deal where they received the less desirable portions of lands. When the predators tried to re-negotiate, the prey marked them as aggressors, chalking it up to their predator nature. Thus, the prey began mobilizing and alienated predators, further promoting the injustice against predators beginning from their ancestors.

Centuries passed by; the divide only widened.

Within the last few years, the predators have been taking action to conquer over prey lands and resources si their species have been suffering from food shortages, harsh winters, lack of water, etc., for centuries. Predators have been training their warriors to use their predator senses and weapons to the best of their abilities in order to capture the prey villages on the outskirts of the prey borders.

In retaliation, the prey have been amassing weapons and machinery to combat the predators’ war tactics.

It’s a steady build-up to one huge battle. 

XL’s village, one of the oldest and wealthiest outside of the inner-city, was invaded and burned down. XL himself barely escaped, chased by a pack of wolves that separated him from his friends and family. 

Driven to and across predator borders, XL is starved and heavily injured from the altercation with enemy predators that last over a week. They catch up to his scent one last time, circling him and about to finish him off as XL cowers in weasel form.

Then, a massive body swoops in, roaring ferociously as he takes a swipe at the biggest wolf. HC, in his tiger form, intercepts the wolves who have brought disorder to his territory.

As a tiger, HC is considered a wild breed, the most dangerous to society. Prey are especially wary about wild breeds at the top of the food chain, including wolves, tigers, lions, foxes, etc. 

However, HC is a rogue predator who isn’t on the predator or prey’s side. His territory is officially neutral ground. 

After finishing off the wolves, HC turns to the albino weasel who lies pitifully on the ground. The weasel has passed out from exhaustion, hunger, and pain–nearly on his last legs. HC doesn't hesitate to gather the trembling body up in his jaws and sprint back to safety. 

HC brings XL into his home to heal him, shelter him, and feed him back to health.

The tiger shapeshifter is indifferent at first. He doesn’t desire to be a savior out of the goodness of his heart. But he’s very much aware of how scared the little weasel must be after being persuaded by a band of hungry wolves.

The weasel probably views HC as the same type of merciless monster.

Yet, HC doesn’t want to be feared by those who mean him no harm. While he’s not the most approachable shifter, he is by no means hostile without reason.

For the first two weeks, XL stays in his weasel form. Being in one’s most primal state brings the most comfort and instinctual security.

Cue HC being ever so gentle while tending to the weasel’s wounds and sliding a bowl of food to the shaking weasel. HC speaks slowly and makes no fast movements. He gives XL his space and promises he only intends to help XL heal back to health.

The third week, HC walks into his small living room to see, instead of a small s weasel on a pillow, a human form resting on his couch, long hair curtaining his face.

A confused chuff makes it past HC’s lips without his permission. 

(XL, waking up and freezing once making eye contact with HC: 😳🥺😰

HC, surprised at himself for reacting in such a way he couldn’t control, lowkey embarrassed: *turns around and strides into the kitchen*)

Over the next few months, XL continues his road to recovery, but he becomes comfortable enough to be in human form and hold conversations with HC. He soon learns how HC was raised outside of a predator civilization, meaning his ideals are completely different.

HC doesn’t eat prey shifters or kill for joy like many predators are known to do. During his childhood, HC’s mother taught him how to scavenge for food and distinguish which fruits were and were not poisonous. 

(“I’m what many predators refer to as a ‘plant-mouth,’” HC mentions with a chuckle. “I eat fruits and vegetables like prey instead of mostly meat.”

“Fruits and vegetables are delicious. They’re missing out,” XL states light-heartedly. HC nods, strands of long hair falling over his shoulder. 

“They also don’t have the best environment to grow crops. Up until a few years ago, I didn’t either. Under severe circumstances, I’ve had to survive off of shifters—predator and prey alike,” HC says solemnly, a storm clouding in his mismatched eyes. XL falls quiet after that, wondering just how much HC has gone through on his own in predator territory. 

“Forgive me. I didn’t mean to talk about...that so casually,” HC immediately apologies, assuming XL was on edge about the topic of eating shifters. XL shakes his head, reaching over to place a placating hand on HC’s. The tiger shapeshifter’s eyes widen, zeroing in on their touching hands. 

“It’s okay. I’m in no place to judge,” XL says, his expression sincere. “I suppose I’ve been quite privileged and sheltered all my life. Talking about the challenges you have faced helps me understand your experiences. Perhaps, in the future, if everyone listened to each other without jumping to conclusions, the world could be a safer and more equal place, regardless if you are predator or prey.”

“Perhaps. It would take a great deal of effort and empathy, though,” HC says with a hint of bitterness, pursing his lips.

XL exhales heavily. “Indeed, it would.”

HC turns his hand upward, connecting their warm palms, calloused skin against bruised skin.)

Blur: Get’cher Arcady Racin’ Here!

I’ve seen screens of Blur for a few months now. Been seeing them, and kept scrolling through my RSS feeder. At first glance, Blur seems to be nothing more than a WipeOut or Mario Kart inspired racer, but using current gen vehicles. In fact, it looks like a clone of these games at second glance to. And third glance. Fourth. And so on. Not that I have anything against WipeOut or Mario Kart. The former is on my all time favorites list without a doubt. The fast pace and tactical use of power-ups combined with the always mood setting electro makes for a solid experience. With that, if someone came up to me and shouted in my face with glee, “Hey! Someone’s making a WipeOut inspired racer but with modern day cars!” and continued to run off into the distance screaming due to the weasels attached to his face. I’d think, “who was that man of action?” and then, “hmm, game doesn’t sound too bad.” Game doesn’t LOOK to bad either as noticed by the following video that I swiped from Joystiq. They didn’t say no swipey!

Could be good! But my issue, and what I believe will keep this game from being more than a discount buy, is it’s price point. It’s being initially sold at the normal “I’m an important release” price of $59.99. Seems like a lot to me when you consider that you can jump on the PS3 Network right now and buy WipeOut XL for $14.99, and pick up more of the game with the Fury expansion for another Hamilton.

This may be one to rent, but if I can get my hands on it when it comes out in November, I’ll let you know if it should be a last minute Xmas idea.

Weasel has been at the front of my dome since I saw DP 2. Just that one scene he was in resonated with me so hard while making me laugh. He’s a cutie, a nerdy sarcastic funny cutie.

Part One

You’d expected Vanessa and Wade’s relationship to crash and burn quickly, like so many of them had (Sorry, ‘Ness, you know it’s truth though). Wade is an idiot and... Well, you had more mean things to say about the guy but the overwhelming amount made your brain hurt then crash. 

Back on topic.

You hadn’t thought much of Wade, but at the least he wasn’t like Vanessa’s more violent exes who tried to jump on her, expecting her to sit there and take it. Damsel in distress certainly ain’t in her blood. 

That’s how you and she met actually...

‘I’ve been waiting on this douchebag to come outside for the past thirty minutes.’ Sipping on your pumpkin spice iced tea, a cronut half eaten sat untouched on the plate next to your elbow. Idly, you tapped your finger on the table, swiping through the messages left unchecked in your e-mail account, which sad to say, weren’t many. 

“Ma’am, would you like a refill?”

Smiling, you nodded, “Yes, please.” 

While the waiter took the glass from you after you removed the straw, your gaze casually looks out the window of the cafe to the building across the street. There’s a couple, a male and female, arguing. The guy is gesturing and pointing his finger in the woman’s face while she’s got a hand thrust out in front of her, dismissing him. Passerby walk around the duo, unwilling to get caught up in the drama. 

And really, you should look away now, as this isn’t your business. 

Except just as you go to do that, you catch sight of him grabbing her by the nape of her neck, making her look at him. Your fingers still on the table momentarily, only to start drumming again.

‘This isn’t my business. It isn’t.’ Yet your eyes don’t leave the scene. You watch as the woman throws the man’s hand off with a bit of difficulty and shoves at his chest, eyes wild and wide and challenging. ‘Don’t do that. Just walk away. Just walk away.’ The man shoved her back, hard, nearly throwing her off her feet and into a man in a business suit. ‘Yes! Speak up, do something!’ Only you’re let down when the businessman is intimidated and scurries away, leaving the woman to fend for herself. 

“Ma’am, I’m back with your drink.” 

Smiling again, you glance at him from underneath your lashes, “I’m sorry to be a bother, honey, but can I ask you a teeny-tiny favor?”

The waiter blinked at you. “E-Ehm, y-yeah, I mean, of course.” 

“Hold this table for me til I get back, ‘kay? Ten minutes, tops.”

“Sure.” 

You slid out of your seat, patting his shoulder while grabbing your refilled drink in hand. Opening the doors of the cafe and walked across the street. You see the guy had a fistful of the lady’s hair and he was scolding her for ‘making him act so crazy’ and it boiled your blood. “Hey.”

“Wha--?!” You threw the entire contents of the cup in his face. He let out an enraged scream, releasing the woman’s hair as he swiped at his eyes. The woman kicked him between the legs and you took the opportunity to knock him straight the fuck out with a right hook. 

“Thanks. I had it covered but, yea, thanks.” Running both hands through her hair, she smiled, seemingly not at all rattled by her experience. 

Pursing your lips, you held a hand up in a ‘okay then’ manner. “Girls gotta stick together though, right?”

She cracked a smile. “Right. Again, thanks.” There’s a tiny pause before she slapped her fist into an open palm. “Gee, I’m rude. Vanessa Carlysle.” And then she, Vanessa, offered her hand for a shake. 

“Y/N.” You reach out and shake her offered hand.

It’d be instant bonding at first fight. A sisterhood, only without the whole wearing the same pants because that was gross as fuck, and just no. 

Anywho!

You had never told her exactly what you did for a living, which, is kill people, which in hindsight sounds horrible, you’re not a serial killer, you’re an assassin. Arguably one of the best of your kind, on par with the Black Widow and the Winter Soldier, though you wouldn’t go around saying that aloud because it just sounded arrogant. 

And badass.

Okay, so you’re actually a little arrogant, but can you blamed? 

Back on topic, back on topic. Stop losing the plot. 

You were so great at what you did that the person, or rather, people, who contracted you regularly, didn’t need your skills anymore. Isn’t that a crock of shit? You’d killed so many people and done it so well, no one wanted to hire you. No matter how many times you changed the way it’s said, it still sounded like utter bullshit to you. Bills had to be paid though and you wasn’t no nine-to-five, working type of girl. 

You sent out some feelers, yet only recently had one of your associates told you about Sister Margaret’s. And so here you are, in this seedy bar that smelled of blood, faintly of urine and sweat, and bad decisions. 

So, in other words, you felt right at home!

“Hello.” Grabbing the nearest available stool, you took a seat. Beaming at the patron next to you who gave you an annoyed huff then turned back to his drink. ‘Rude.’ 

“Hi, can I get a shot of whiskey, please?”

“Yeah, hang on a sec...” The guy turned around.

And whoops, he’s cute. Not exactly ‘sexy’ but handsome in that boy next door type of way, if the boy liked Naruto and DBZ, you were perhaps stereotyping due to the glasses. 

Not that the glasses were a turn off, in fact it was a turn on. 

“Here’s your shot of whiskey.” 

“Thank you, cutie.” Yes, technically, you’re here on business and supposed to be talking to the owner of this place, but who says you can’t have a little flirty flirt in the mean time. 

“‘Cutie’,” he snorted, pushing his glasses up on the bridge of his nose. “I don’t think I’ve been called that since seventh grade.”

You place a hand over your heart, as if wounded. “Ooh, that stings.” The bartender shrugged, leaning forward, rag thrown over his right shoulder. “I see how it is, Merlin.” His lips quirked. “Tell me if I’m getting warmer to a nickname that you like, Newton.” He shook his head. “JB?” He made a ‘so-so’ gesture. “XL?”

“Now you’ve got the right idea.” The guy smirked, amused. 

About to ask if he had the goods to back up carrying such a name, you’re surprised when someone sits down heavily on a stool opposite you. “O.M.G. is little Weasel about to graduate to the big leagues and get his freak on with--” He turned and his raucous smile fell.

“Y/N?!”

“Wade?” Your voice rose a decibel and then it clicked. “Wait, Weasel?”

“Wait, you two know e...” And then it clicked for him. “No way, you’re Y/N, the one always taking potshots at this sasquatch lookin’ motherfucker?”

“Uh, excuse the fucktabulous out of you.” Wade stated with a ‘wtf?’ expression. 

“Oh, this is too good, you deal with this dickbag on the regular? Teach me your tricks. My head feels like it’s going to explode talking to him.” 

“It’s easy. Just tune out the stupid and you occasionally get left with the other shit.”

“Aww, no.” You pout.

“Yeah, unfortunately it is so.” Weasel nodded sympathetically. 

“Are you two listening to me?”

“Did you hear something?” You raised an eyebrow. “I think someone just broke wind. Quick, cover your nose and ears, it’s a long one but it’ll pass.” Weasel played along. 

Eventually, Wade gets the hint to go away, or at least, he goes away to ‘find new friends’ and you and Weasel are left alone to talk and flirt, and when you ask, he gives you two cards; one with his number, the other with a hit.

Cha-ching! Back in business, baby.

Non-Denominational Winter Holiday Gift Haul!

- Deadpool 2 on DVD (I'm holding off on converting to Blu-ray for as long as I possibly can). The back cover has no synopsis of the film, just a word bubble coming from Weasel's mouth saying "the sequel to the first one!" My sister bought it for me because "I had no idea what to get you, Target was cleaned out and I didn't know if you'd seen it but *I* wanted to watch it." I have seen it, but I remember zilch because I was TANKED. God bless you, Jack and Cherry Coke.

- The largest Moleskine I've ever seen. In the "if found please return to" space on the first page, I wrote "P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way." I was gonna put one of those Vans stickers that comes with every pair of sneakers on the front but instead I think I'll carve "Don't Panic" on the cover (in big, friendly letters).

- Kyle Rayner's Green Lantern ring. I'm not a ring guy, but I had a catch-all GL ring that I'd put on and hold up to my lantern-shaped piggy bank while reciting the oath and Kyle is the best so YAY! I usually run out of coins before I can finish the oath, it's tough to get the rhythm down so you get a "plunk" at the end of each line.

- Joe Boxer smiley face mug from my Mom, quite large.

- Another mug from my Dad, brown and very oddly shaped.

- Johnny Cash t-shirt, the one I've been eyeing ever since I first started working at Hot Topic in 2004 but never bought. It's an XL and is only a little too baggy, which worries me.

- A book collecting inspirational Twitter posts (I hate calling them "tweets") from the guy who wrote Hamilton.

- Waterproof coat, snow pants and snow boots. So far, it has only snowed once this winter and it melted by lunchtime.

- And of course, plenty of socks and underwear including a pair of socks that make my feet look like lion paws and underwear that matches the hideous flamingo suit my father bought last year. The pattern works much better as underwear, because nobody has to see it.

...ooh! Also, my sister found my missing pipe and while searching for a pen, I found my missing necklace charm with the guitar pick and Norwegian kroner. Now, the all-important decision of what to draw first in the Moleskine; my cartoon monkey alter-ego, or Spider-Man? Maybe Spider-Gwen? I've never tried drawing her before...
