Some Quick Advice on Bong Hits

I've been mostly a bong smoker for years. I much prefer using the water for filtration and cooling of my smoke, and it's overall a less harsh smoking experience. I tend to cough a lot when smoking, so anything that makes my smoke smoother is welcome.

Those are some of the benefits I've found in using a bong. Yet, in spite of preferring bong smoking, I only recently learned a little about how to smoke using a bong. Let me tell you what I was doing.

Step 1. Get hempwick, which is hemp with a wax covering. It can be found in most head shops. It's good for anyone who wants to avoid sucking in butane when they smoke out. You light the wick and use it to light the bowl. It burns a slightly lower temperature than the butane, which prevents you from scorching any marijuana in your bowl, and gives an easier smoking experience.

The wick burns at an approximate temperature of 1500-1800 degrees Fahrenheit (10). Butane lighters burn at approximately twice that temperature, or roughly 3500 degrees Fahrenheit. With lower temperatures, there's less chance of burning the cannabis to ash, and less harsh butane coming through your bong. It's worth being aware that butane inhalation while smoking has been linked to headaches.

Granted, with the butane you can annihilate your bong load faster, but you're more likely to waste cannabis that way, rather than getting to a euphoric stage faster. In fact, you're likely destroying some of your THC if you use a butane lighter -- which is any standard Bic -- on your marijuana.

Step 2. Smoke from the outside in.

WHen you're smoking, the simplest way to get an even burn with less harsh hits on blackened marijuana is to smoke around the edges of the bowl and gradually work towards the center.

Smoking in this edging method is known as 'Cornering" and refers to a common practice when it came to using party bongs. Each person smoked at the edge of the bowl, which burned the marijuana material vertically, allowing every person easy access to smoking fresh green cannabis -- colloquially called "greens" -- which provided each participant with a cleaner, more enjoyable smoking experience.

It's equally good when smoking by yourself, as it prevents igniting only the top layer, and by lighting one edge, it's easier to get a cherry going on the side, which is the little flame you can nurse through a whole smoke session.

Let me tell you how ignorant I was of bong smoking. I literally considered inventing a joint bong. See, I like bong smoking, but I don't like that I couldn't really keep a cherry lit. Hitting the bong bowl with the lighter, even using the hemp wick, was either too slow a process, or too harsh a smoke. I liked being able to take little puffs off a joint and not needing to relight it time and again, the way I was doing with the bong.

It's helpful to understand at this point that I had certainly gotten bong bowls to light once with a good cherry that I could smoke on. Those were always the best smoking sessions. But, I couldn't get it to work with any consistency, and eventually I just assumed I was doing it right.

I was not. By learning about cornering a bowl and smoking from the outside in, I learned the skill of thinking strategically about my smoking method, and getting a better burn, and more cherries to make my smoke both quicker and more pleasant than most have been lately.

I should probably clean my bong, too. It's gross and I know how disrespectful the real hard cases get about nasty bongs.

Those are the first two pieces of advice I have when it comes to bong and pipe smoking. With a little work you can make it a better experience than I did.

I really don't get it when authors write clones as Mandalorians who are super attached to their culture and language. I mean, yeah, I get that Jango Fett was a Mandalorian (and so many people are so ridiculously horny for Mandalore, but that's for another day) but they explicitly say - several times - that their home planet is Kamino.

Maybe their training had some Mandalore influence, but we also see that a lot of their trainers are bounty hunters from loads of places as well as having Shaak Ti supervising.

They develop their own culture and traditions - like how they decorate their armour or earn their names - which may start out from Mandalorian roots but are obviously influenced by the war, their jedi leaders, and Kamino more than anything.

I just don't get the vibe from the shows and movies that Mandalore is that important to the clones apart from in that distant way people talk about where their ancestors came from. Whenever they talk about 'home' planet, its Kamino. Jango Fett is just their sperm donor bio-dad who they ignore the existence of most of the time.

WAIT Adderall and psych meds make alcohol hit harder?! I had no idea!! I've always just told everyone I'm a lightweight because I start feeling it with 1 drink. But I'm realizing now, I was prescribed Adderall right before I was 21 and drank for the first time. This is making me go :O

Yeah no it’s for real and no one talks about it! I wish more doctors would explain that these meds* make alcohol hit harder. The medication warnings just say “don’t drink” which isn’t helpful or practical. Frankly it’s dangerous because it leads to people taking 4 shots thinking they’ll get kinda drunk, only to end up puking and having a horrible time because it’s hitting them as hard as if they’d taken eight entire shots back to back

Try counting your drinks as 2:1 and I would bet suddenly your tolerance will start matching theirs way more closely.

Same applies to weed btw. Expecting your tolerance to be the same as it was before you were on meds is a one way trip to having A Bad Time

I greatly enjoy picturing eddie being friends with chrissy's close friends on the cheer squad. Like it's not unusual to be out and about and see eddie with his girlfriend and like four or five other cheerleaders just eating ice cream or something. Tuvok & Seven friendship is so important to me. autism 2 autism communication

I love them so much...I want them to be genuine pals. I want Seven to find Tuvok after he gets literally assimilated fully by the borg and for them to actually talk about that after some resistance ("I'm fine. I do not require your assistance") <- An inverse of Tuvok pushing Seven to talk after 'Tsunkatse'. I wonder about loneliness and the borg and vulcan bonds and why Tuvok was the one out of him Janeway & B'Elanna who was assimilated. I want to know about the recovery process following that. I want it to become another thing they can understand about one another like the long silences and the eyebrow raising about silly Human things and the isolation. The Borg are a terrible destructive force but when you're within it it's ALL, it's like nothing else. I want them to spend so many evenings in silence together. With Tuvok, Seven doesn't have to think about 'Being Human' and maybe Tuvok can relax with Seven too - "Commander Tuvok & I" that kinship, stated resolutely. "Commander Tuvok & I don't require..." I want them to not talk to each other for years after Voyager and then Seven just appears where Tuvok is and he's like "Oh, this is unexpected. I am pleased to see you." and they're able to fall back into their old pleasant silences and go on walks together and maybe they go for a hike on another planet and while they're camping out they talk more about stuff they wouldn't if they were anywhere more familiar and at night maybe they talk about stuff they wouldn't if it were day. I want them to talk about their time on Voyager and how it's affected them and is still affecting them and for them to poke fun at silly Human things (some of which Seven understands more now like being in love and having fun and looking at a sunset) I want Seven to talk about how much Starfleet has hurt her and Janeway has hurt her even though she wasn't trying to and how she doesn't know exactly how to feel about her time on Voyager. It was the start of her life, the best years and the most confusing and the most horrific and stifling and freeing and [and and and] Tuvok talks about how lonely it was in the stilted way he does - half describing a flower and he'll never denounce the captain the same way the captain will never denounce Starfleet, the closest he'll ever get is that it was a difficult time - that he doesn't agree with every decision but he isn't Human, he can't say for sure what was right or wrong and Seven has to accept that that's all he'll do (it's difficult, she wants to push him but she knows it's useless) and I want them to find that they still can relax around each other despite it all - that they're different but that's at least the same. HOW TO NOT GET BLOCKED BY YOUR FAVORITE FANFIC WRITERS—A SERIOUS GUIDE

due to the current issue of fanfic writers having to take the time to assure that those consuming their work aren’t just silently reading, stealing, or sometimes even having to go the extra mile to make sure their following is actually active—there have been some changes in the following game that may or may not impact you as a reader. here’s a guide of things to do to make sure you don’t get blocked by any of your favorite fanfic writers!

PERSONALIZE YOUR BLOG

make sure you add a profile picture to your blog (one that isn’t the horrid shapes with eyes icon you get upon making a blog), a header, and something to your bio to show that you are an actual person behind the blog. the reason why this step is so important is due to the fact that many bots appear as blank blogs. and something else you might not know, many of the blank blogs that tend to follow fanfic writers are actually writers from other sites attempting to find good works to steal and repost. so, personalize your blog!

ADD YOUR AGE ON YOUR BLOG

this especially pertains to 18+/mature fanfic writers, but most of these blogs will either not follow you back or block on impact when they see you in their notifications. the mature fanfic writing community has had way too many instances of minors consuming or interacting with their content that this is the only answer to avoiding those situations, so be sure to add your age either in your bio, to your navigation, or to your about page/post! as long as it is visible when first glancing at your blog, you should be fine.

RESPECTIVELY FOLLOW WRITER’S RULES AND GUIDELINES

one of the most simple actions you can take to avoid being blocked by fanfic writers is just reading their rules and guideline posts on their blog—and most importantly, following said rules and guidelines. most writers have these posts linked in their navigation, so they aren’t difficult to find. most of the rules pertain to these same notes listed here, along with some personalized ones, and most likely their request rules. either way, respect fanfic writers rules and regulations.

REBLOG WORKS AND GIVE FEEDBACK

the largest portion of fanfic writers are literally having to beg for interactions at this point (sadly), so another one of the “how do I not get blocked?” points is literally just reblog and leave feedback on your favorite fanfic writer’s works! there are many writers that now attempt to keep track of who is only liking their works and not actually reblogging, and most certainly not leaving feedback, and this can cause you to get blocked. tumblr only works if you reblog, and although you don’t necessarily have to add tags or comments when you do, hitting a button to share the post further is quite literally the least you can do. likes are quite literally useless on this site—so, reblog and leave feedback to help support your favorite fanfic writers!

TRY TO BE ACTIVE

now if you’ve followed along with the other key points, this one won’t necessarily cause fanfic writers to block you. but, again, if you are a blog that only likes content and never reblogs or leaves feedback—hello, you are in danger. when someone opens up a blog that constantly interacts with them, they can usually find multiple posts or reblogs from recent or past times that you were active. but if they open your blog and there are literally zero posts—expect to get blocked! i’m not saying you’re literally wasting a blog but...if you know how tumblr works, went through the entire process of personalizing the blog, and also followed others—it’s quite dumb for you to not have any posts or reblogs on your blog. so, start being more active so you don’t immediately get blocked by all your favorite content creators!

everything listed here is literally how this site works, and are just the basics to tumblr. the reason why so many fanfic writers are cracking down on blocking is due to losing motivation to write because of how impactful not doing these simple tasks are. if you checked tumblr after posting multiple works and only got likes, realized they were only by default and blank blogs, and that outside of the tags your works weren’t being shared as they should be and you were basically creating into the void, would you be happy?

all of this also applies to my own blog, so if you ever end up getting blocked by me—just know one of these reasons was probably the leading cause!
