CASH COBAIN ANNOUNCES
PLAY CASH COBAIN LP
With his triumphant Billboard Hot 100 debut and current opening slot on Ice Spice’s Y2K! World Tour, the 2024 XXL Freshman and April Billboard Rookie of the Month, Cash Cobain, has announced that his sophomore LP Play Cash Cobain will arrive later this month on August 23rd and shared the album's lead single, "Problem". Bolstered by a prominent sample of Brooklyn newcomer Laila!'s viral hit "Not My Problem", the long-anticipated posse cut boasts a stacked lineup of features from the likes of Fabolous, Big Sean, Kenzo B, Lay Bankz, Luh Tyler, Anycia, Chow Lee, Kaliii, 6lack, Flo Milli, YN Jay, FLEE, Don Q and Rob49. The song first gained traction after Cash teased his remix for Laila!'s viral "Not My Problem" SoundCloud beat challenge. After he started sending the instrumental out to close collaborators like Chow Lee and FLEE, the trend struck fire, and the verses started pouring in daily on social media — to the point that Billboard ranked the star-studded versions pre-release (read here).
Cobain's debut national television performance at the BET Awards reached a staggering audience of 3 millionviewers, while recent powerhouse single "Rump Punch"(15M Streams) continues to explode, solidifying that his long-awaited forthcoming LP is here to extend the Slizzy Summer indefinitely. This week, Cash had an electric pair of performances on Ice Spice's sold-out NYC dates, with Rolling Stone noting -– "Cash is one of the coolest artists in the game, boasting a signature sound replete with a dance that simulates a flowing ocean current. The young crowd ate it up...". After the show, fans were thrown into a frenzy when a picture of Future and Cash hit social media on his well-recognized fan-page Slizzyfeed.
Cash’s sophomore release, Play Cash Cobain, is the exclamation point on a 2024 winning streak that includes the Ice Spice-assisted "Fisherrr" (feat. Bay Swag) (40M Streams), which was hailed by Funkmaster Flex during Cobain’s Hot 97 Summer Jam performance as the festival's biggest song, as well as a collab with rap legend J. Cole on “Grippy” (15M Streams), a new version of his 2023 track “Dunk Contest” (13M Streams). The rapper and producer also recently featured alongside Charlie Wilson on Don Toliver's new single "Attitude" (86M Streams), appeared on A Boogie Wit da Hoodie’s “Body”, and produced Lancey Foux’s"Daylight"(feat. Teezo Touchdown), showcasing why COMPLEX proclaimed that summer 2024 is “looking very slizzy".
With the success of Cobain’s smash singles "Rump Punch" and "Fisherrr", the latter being an undeniable song of the summer, the Bronx superstar has skyrocketed to over 4M Monthly Listeners on Spotify, entered the Top 3 NYC Shazam Charts, and occupied the #1 and #3 slots of the NYC Apple Music Charts as well as #7 on the Urban Radio Charts. Cash is a visionary, and his recent 'Slizzy Fest' birthday show at Irving Plaza flaunted a stacked lineup of New York’s elite — along with rumors of a surprise set from a certain A-list superstar. With Slizzymania in full effect, the growing crowd caused security concerns and the show was ultimately canceled –– but Cobain, a man of the people, wanted to ensure his fans got their money's worth. Armed with his passion and a Bluetooth speaker, Cash led the ecstatic crowd down to Union Square and threw a makeshift show, an indisputable nod to honoring the traditions of NYC Hip-Hop (read 'I Went to Cash Cobain’s Slizzyfest and All I Got Was That Classic NYC Feeling' via Rolling Stone and his statement in Billboard). Cobain has since hinted at collaborations with Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Lil Yachty and more –– a sure sign that superstardom is soon to come. With his extraterrestrial R-rated anthems, ethereal production, playful sexy drill sound, and the inescapable Slizzy Movement in full effect — there may not be a spotlight bright enough to shine on Cash Cobain's future.

Sometimes I read a Batman fic and i'm like 'oh, so you know nothing about nyc? huh? okay...'
like yes i know gotham is not literally new york and i actually like world building that makes it more different but new york is also explicitly the inspiration. and gotham is canonically on the mid-atlantic east coast of the united states of america and that kinda means something
just that area has a specific climate and demographics and history and sometimes people will write something that is so tone deaf and ahistorical and illogical and i kinda lose it

I know this might be a weird question, and I have no idea if anyone else pictures written dialogue in their head like I do, but do anakin, obi-wan, cody, etc have the same accents in ur AU fics as they do in Star Wars canon??
Like all this time I’ve been imagining Obi-wan being British, anakin being American (hayden is Canadian but I have no clue how US accents work lol) and the Fett brothers being Kiwi, but then I get confused bcs HOW did they get those accents (IS CORUSCANT THE STAR WARS EQUIVALENT TO LONDON!?!?!? BCS ALOT OF JEDI HAVE ENGLISH ACCENTS BUT NOT ALL OF THEM AND UGH MY BRAIN HURTS AND 😩🫣😵🤕😭)
anyway I’ve forgotten my original point and I think I need to lie down 😟
lol this is a fair question actually
so whenever I’m doing a fic that’s not gffa but modern but I’m trying not to make it American heavy or ANTK (America need to know), I like using the planets from Star Wars as cities and/or countries because everyone who is reading a prequels Star Wars fic probably knows what Coruscant or Naboo is supposed to look like vaguely and I don’t have to describe what it’s supposed to look like (descriptions of places, my loathed nemesis)
AND when I do that, I always describe obi-wan’s accent as coruscanti, but in my head it’s definitely just the way he sounds in the movies which is British
and like in that one story where Obi-Wan is king of Stewjon (space Scotland), he’s supposed to maybe have a stewjoni accent which would be space Scottish accent but then I really just only read it in my mind as his normal British accent, even if they were fuckin. Wearing space kilts. It was too ingrained in me.
BUT THIS IS ALL TO SAY: their accents are what they are in the shows/movies, regardless of where they’re supposed to be from…..and if it makes sense (aka Cody and Rex and obi-wan are basically raised together in PBATMB but you bet your ass they sound different in my head)

wolfacejoeyy Drops New Summer Fling Anthems “finsta/bia”
The weather is heating up and so is wolfacejoeyy as he sparks some summertime sexiness on his latest double single release, “finsta/bia.” Previewed on his socials and on Twitch streamer Tylil's livestream, the opening track “finsta” is a fun play on the way lovers socialize on and offline. Paired with melodic twinkly triangle percussions and a distorted uptempo bass beat, “finsta” is evocative of an infatuation with a love interest that is growing with rapid speed and intensity but its relevance revolves around both partners showing their true selves online, “Put me in a picture, I wanna know the real you/ Can I get your finsta,” Joeyy raps. Ultimately the track is a surface-level romance but joeyy’s silky voice and nostalgic melodies propel the listener to bask in the excitement that comes with peeling back the layers of a new partner, no matter how serious the situation may be.
Similarly, the accompanying single “bia” is a bouncy dedication to a favorite lover. Named after the “Whole Lotta Money” rapper, the single features joeyy flatteringly rapping about his favorite lady and her best qualities. He utilizes synth-driven horns, bumping percussions synonymous with Jersey Club, and softer, fluttering harp chords which express the fondness he has for his crush.
“finsta/bia” are Wolfacejoeyy’s latest singles following the release of his debut album Valentino. The album is home to the buzzing single "cake," which went viral on TikTok, along with acclaimed singles like the heartfelt "don't be dishonest," and "I Know," produced by WhereIs22. "cake" has quickly become a fan-favorite, generating over 160K combined views across social platforms before its official release, earning co-signs from stars like Sexyy Red, Rubi Rose, Veeze, and Kaliii on social media. The song has inspired more than 52.9k video creations on TikTok. The flirty music video for "cake" recently surpassed 4.8 million views on YouTube, becoming joeyy's most-viewed video to date. Featuring additional production from Synthetic and many others, Valentino is available now on all platforms.
With a new project under his belt, joeyy is aiming to improve upon his breakout 2023, in which he partnered with Whereis22, on the acclaimed EP 22Joeyy. The album featured the single “weekend” ft. Cash Cobain & Chow Lee, acclaimed by Pitchfork, and additional guest spots from SoFaygo and B-Lovee. Joeyy discussed the project in an interview with BET, and a profile in HYPEBEAST that came out earlier this year, and his fiery 2023 inspired Complex to place him on their list of Rappers to Watch in 2024. After the success of 22Joeyy, joeyy kept the train rolling, opening for Eem Triplin on tour, throwing a headlining show earlier this year at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, and delivering a standout performance at Rolling Loud California 2024. With over 1 million streams per week on his catalog and recently being revealed as an opener for 4batz’s upcoming “Thank You, Jada Tour,” joeyy rolls into Spring 2024 with a head of steam.

J. Cole gets Slizzy on Cash Cobain's new single "Grippy"
April's Billboard Rookie of the Month and multi-hyphenate NYC mainstay Cash Cobain has enlisted rap superstar J. Cole for “Grippy”, a new version of his acclaimed 2023 song “Dunk Contest” (8M Streams). Marking the first collaboration between the pair, “Grippy” sees the hip-hop heavyweight offer his most flex-worthy rhymes over Cobain’s signature sexy drill production. The track arrives amidst a hot streak for the rapper and producer, who recently linked up with Ice Spice for the long-awaited video remix for "Fisherrr" (feat. BaySwag) (26M Streams), which marked her third feature ever. It's been a massive week for Cobain, who just featured alongside Charlie Wilson on Don Toliver's new single "Attitude", appeared on A Boogie Wit da Hoodie’s“Body”, and produced Lancey Foux’s“Gotta Get U”, showcasing why COMPLEX proclaimed that summer 2024 is “looking very slizzy". After steadily garnering momentum with R-rated anthems over his own ethereal production — pioneering the playful sexy drill sound and Slizzy Movement that he’s now taking to mainstream heights — Cash Cobain is primed for his moment in the spotlight. Following the success of smash singles "Dunk Contest" and "Fisherrr", the latter of which is being hailed as an early contender for song of the summer, Cobain has since hit 3M Monthly Listeners on Spotify, entered the Top 3 NYC Shazam Charts, and occupied the #1 and #3 slots of the NYC Apple Music Charts as well as #45 on the Urban Radio Charts. With recent releases "Dunk Contest" (watch his Genius Open Mic appearance), the Ice Spice-assisted remix for "Fisherrr" (feat. BaySwag), and now the J. Cole-featuring “Grippy”, Cash Cobain is elevating his signature sound — and showcasing its ever-growing widespread appeal in the process.
Last month, Cobain took over NYC with his 'Slizzy Fest' birthday show at Irving Plaza, a night that boasted a stacked lineup of New York’s finest along with rumors of a surprise set from a certain A-list superstar. After the hype reached a fever pitch, the growing crowd caused security concerns and the show was ultimately canceled –– but Cobain still wanted to give the fans their money's worth. So he led the crowd down the street into Union Square and threw a makeshift show with just his crew, a Bluetooth speaker — and hundreds of adoring fans (read 'I Went to Cash Cobain’s Slizzyfest and All I Got Was That Classic NYC Feeling' via Rolling Stone and his statement in Billboard). Cobain has since teased potential collaborations with Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Don Toliver (seen filming a music video here), Lil Yachty and more –– a sure sign of the worldwide stardom soon to come. These recent releases arrive on the heels of a career-minting 2023 year that wrapped with the production of PinkPantheress'"Nice To Meet You" (feat. Central Cee), which debuted at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 (Cobain recently starred alongside her in a nationally-syndicated Apple commercial for the new MacBook). Previous months also saw Cobain produce Drake's"Calling For You" (feat. 21 Savage), which debuted at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, DJ Travis Scott's Cactus Jack x Audemars Piguet event, and release his critically-acclaimed debut solo album Pretty Girls Love Slizzy with Giant Music.
