Please discard any Polynesian Sauce dipping cups that were purchased from Chick-fil-A restaurants between February 14-27, 2024. A supplier notified us they unintentionally added a different sauce that includes wheat and soy allergens and other ingredients. As soon as we were informed, we took immediate steps to notify guests to discard the sauce immediately. We can confirm that no other dipping sauces or 8 oz bottles are impacted. We understand and take seriously the trust our guests place in us to make sure their food is what they ordered and apologize for this experience.

Here’s a new one: I had to ask the grocery cashier to stop eating donuts at the same time as she scanned my items. I already assume that someone who’s recently dunked their hands in a bucket of flour has touched the outside of everything I buy at the supermarket, but I’m not usually a direct witness to the gluten -> hand -> my groceries pipeline 😬

Okay everyone describe your medical condition(s) as badly as possible, I'll go first: I have random bad noise turns me into a supervillain disorder, vampirism, agriculture was a mistake disease, a moderate case of "someone put slinkies where my joints were supposed to go", and if I'm not having fun 24/7 my brain will eat itself alive. Also, I have to wear special amulets on my face to stop me from walking into walls and if I don't periodically fill my lungs with magic smoke they'll stop working.

Goodbye 2023. Wrote 30,000 words of my Danny story, 20,000 words of my Freyna story, 25,000 words of my Khan story, 13,000 words of my Celest story, 48,000 words of fanfiction, and including notes and scraps I wrote 211,007 words in 2023! >o<)/ a lot of fucking words!!!
(Also future me, now you can find this next year to find out how much more u wrote)
I did not hit last years goal of finishing one of my original stories. But on the bright side, I did write over one novel's Worth of words. So here's to hoping this new year I focus more on One story at a time so I can start finishing things. I'll count this as a kind of win. (I'd still like to finish at least one of my original stories before January ends just so I can say I've finally finished one asap lol)
In other news. This past year, sunday, I had italian bread with butter. I had lemon cake this year. I had pizza, the last two days in a row. I have had a waffle almost every day of the week. I still have to take benedryl if I overdo it, or more gi medicine if I really screw up. But this time last year I couldn't touch bread, pasta, waffles, any wheat. This time last year I was dreaming and hoping miserably I'd get to have toast and pizza again. That I'd be able to risk any dairy. Any wheat. My only severe allergy left now is potato. I'm still a ways away from being able to stop needing my gi meds to eat. But rhe fact I simply CAN eat, most days, relaibly without worrying I won't be able to the next day? Awesome. I had a bad flare in August and was on a liquid diet and feared I'd never eat yummy food again. And all of 2022 was awful mush. I'm so so grateful I can eat a waffle, and will probably still be able to eat the next day. I'm going to sincerely hope now this is the year I'll be able to transition off of needing gi meds.

I'm not being hyperbolic when I say it should be illegal to change the ingredients of food items without putting a giant neon sticker on the front that says "New Recipe!!" In size 70 text and braile
It's fucking dangerous

I'm reading lists on different websites for packed lunch ideas so here's a reminder that: healthy isn't the same for everyone.
The websites keep saying to always use full grain/wheat bread, crackers, etc. because "that's healthier", but guess what? I'm allergic to wheat, so full grain/wheat is in fact not healthier for me.
Never let someone else tell you you're unhealthy/not making healthy choices because you don't eat or exercise the way society tells you to.
Your body is valid too.

you know what's fun? having to have your meds on standby because America doesn't have to specify WHERE the yeast extract is from, so you just have to wait and see if you're gonna have an allergic reaction!
EDIT: 30+ minutes later, I am fine 😃

Anyone else with food allergies/intolerances ever worried about being in a disaster scenario (hurricane, war, displacement, etc) where you have to rely on other people (FEMA, charity workers, volunteer restaurants coming together out of the goodness of their hearts, etc) and then all the food being offered is stuff you can't eat, or is that just me?

I don't remember if I talked about it on here but my wheat allergy is fading.
It has faded so much I just had TWO PB&j sandwiches for breakfast and they were soft and cheap and my mouth doesn't hurt from the texture. And I'm not even slightly dead from it.
Sometimes life is really good.

Spent a few days in Orlando (including a trip to Disney World). Didn't snap any Disney food photos, but I am happy to report that nearly every restaurant has at least 3-4 gluten free options. one place I had gf chicken tenders and another I had a very good pepperoni pizza. The smaller snack stands aren't as gluten free friendly but it's really not much of an inconvenience because food options are everywhere and bringing your own snacks is allowed.
This place was not in Disney; (but is in Orlando) it's called Sofrito's Latin and it has arepas and empanadas, both gf. I'm very fond of arepas but I haven't had them in several years because there's no places in my area that make them. The empanadas were so good! The filing was similar to ropa veija (shredded beef with veggies) and had a tasty dipping sauce.

food allergies are serious and I take my allergy to wheat very seriously, like this shit is potentially deadly and food allergies should always be taken seriously, but there’s also a part of me that finds it very funny that I could be murdered by a fucking saltine
