"How bold of you, Kingscholar, trying to kidnap the first human!" How does it end? With a headache for Leona, so many people for him to obsess over and he fell in love with this troublesome angel.

He does not mind your status but offer to help with the purge that happens in hell if you want. He would also like to hear you talking about whatever you have seen and done as you are older than him. Talk about heaven, about the earth, about anything you like, he'll hear you with a smile on his face the whole time. Though if you both fight someday he straight up just use his unique magic to trap you inside a dream.

Leaving aside the whole debate about the ethics of AI art and copyright, I think one of my biggest gripes with the AI art industry is that generative AI art has this natural tendency towards producing weird and surreal imagery that I actually think DOES have a lot of artistic merit and potential if explored and leaned into as one of the unique strengths of the medium.

Like, when AI image generators were at the stage imbetween the vaguely recognizable imagery produced by neuralblender and the type of generators we're seeing today, they were producing really fascinating imagery that I'd argue had value as a contribution to the art landscape that was entirely unique to AI, since the weird surreal quality of the images was the result of Machine Learning programs interpreting words and images in a fundamentally different way than humans do.

Like i'd argue shit like this indisputably has a place as its own artistic style/medium, it's surreal and weird in ways which are completely distinct from what a human artist could produce because its unique strengths come from details that are inscrutable, ambiguous, and hard to parse to the human mind, which a human artist would have an extremely hard time mentally visializing, let alone translatong into an art piece.

But since the main selling point of AI art for both the people making these generators and the teach aficinados who are a little too into them is that AI art can serve as a cheaper/faster replacement and/or alternative for the work of human artists, progress is measured not in terms of how well they can use and explore the distincly non-human quality of AI art, but instead in terms of how well they can supress it to make it more closely mimic the work of human artists. So all advancement in the tech is geared towards progressively getting rid of the things I find artistically interesting about the medium instead of towards leaning into them as strengths that give it a unique, artistically worthwile style.

Like, I don't think AI art is inherently "soulless" or devoid of artistic merit, but I do think the focus on trying to make it increasingly indistinguishable from art produced by humans strips away the things that gave it artistic merit to me. This thing can produce imagery that is weird and wild and hard for us to even conceive but the profit motive's tendency towards rewarding homogenization has neutered that to turn it into a factory of increasingly bland, generic, serviceable imagery.

LUNAR PHASES

The moon acts as a guiding light within the night sky and humans have used it to orient themselves within time and space since the dawn of our existence. However, our connection to the moon goes beyond practicality. Looking up at the moon evokes a sense of comfort, and its beauty is inspirational. As much as our planet has changed, for better or for worse, the moon remains consistent with its cycles. This sense of stability offers us wisdom, and each period of the lunar cycle represents a different stage of growth.  I was inspired to write this post after reading a fascinating article that is titled, “Effects of different phases of the lunar month on humans.” The Author, Ujjwal Chakraborty, explored the ways in which the lunar cycle exerts influence upon human psychology and physiology. Chakraborty states, “The altered autonomic neural activity and cardiovascular activity during different lunar phases is probably one of the fundamental causes of the changes of human physiology.”(2014) The autonomic nervous system regulates heart rate, digestion, respiration, blood pressure, and sexual arousal. Any changes that occurs within the autonomic nervous system is going to affect human behavior. To see a spiritual phenomenon be explained through scientific research is incredibly thought provoking; this leads me to believe that the spiritual meanings attached to each lunar phase must hold a certain amount of truth to them. genuinely doesn’t even know why you’d like to stare into his eyes in general. blade doesn’t look much into a mirror, however since meeting you and hearing your kind comments about them, he’s started to secretly look more at his eyes whenever passing by his reflection.

blade does this out of pure confusion, because he fails to understand why you’d like his uniquely red and yellow coloured eyes. no matter how many times he tries to put his mind to it—your reasoning is impossible to comprehend. he just labels your comments about them as weird.

blade got a bit defensive when you first started to move his dark blue bangs to the side with the excuse of wanting to see his eyes. he’d swat your hand away in the beginning. though, slowly and surely, he got used to that habit of yours.

“again?” blade sighs with his arms folded over his chest.

he had been strolling around with you and the sun was setting, the orange sky making his eyes glow and seem even more ethereal to you. especially due to the gold hue in them which shone brighter than ever.

“please? just stay still.” you pout, putting on your best puppy eyes. that antic normally never works on blade for some reason; he’ll show zero reaction to your pleading. if he’s in a better mood than usual, he’ll glance at you and then nod at best.

“for me?” you add in a desperate attempt to get your lover to comply.

blade silently looks over at you. there was not an ounce of change to be seen on his cold face, yet you noticed the subtle flicker in his eyes. one that no other person could have spotted. you had spent enough time admiring his eyes to memorise every little detail about them. from how they’d look when he’s mad to how they’d look when he’s in a (rare) content mood.

you knew your pleading had finally broke through his hard shell.

“…” blade stops in his tracks and turns his body to you, letting his arms fall to their sides like you’ve won him over. it’s the most vulnerable he’s been with anyone.

you stood there with your mouth slightly agape at the beautiful scenery, including the man in front of you. the wind blowing through blade’s long hair and the way he’s standing so relaxed—it was almost an honour to see that view.

“i’m not going to stand here all day. come.”

you immediately went over to blade, standing in close proximity to his body. you carefully brushed his bangs to the side and looked into both of his gorgeous eyes. blade was staring right back at you, not blinking even once.

blade doesn’t utter a word and lets you do what you want to. he can’t deny the unfamiliar yet tugging feeling in the pits of his stomach. the one feeling he’s been trying to repress to not make the same mistake twice.

JING YUAN !

is probably fascinated by your wish to look into his golden orbs. jing yuan, in contrast of blade, thinks it is pretty adorable of you. he won’t question your actions and just goes along with whatever you desire of him. the general is a fool for you.

jing yuan won’t even mind it if you do it in public. he’ll bend his head down a little to give you access to his face. but, don’t blame him if he has his hands on your waist or hips in the meantime. you being close to him while looking into his eyes is considered something romantic according to him.

be prepared for kisses to be stolen from you. you’ll be in such a trance, too enamoured by his eyes to even notice the strategy the general was planning. that strategy including all the ways he can have you close enough for a ‘surprise’ kiss.

I have notice that you are giving the kwamis different and more uniques personalities. How you imagened their unique emotions and how they react with the holders?

For sure, there are very few instances where the Zodiac Kwami get to show their individualism except for Sass or when they briefly interact with their new holders, so I really grabbed on to any little bit I could see and held tight.

Mullo - In the story of the Chinese Zodiac, the Rat rides the Ox and jumps off at the last minute in order to arrive first, so I thought it'd make sense for Mullo to be mischievous - also because Marinette uses it first for some cheeky misdirection. I got lucky that Mullo turned out to be a bit of a prankster when "Mega Leech" came out.

Stompp - As one of the Leftover 4, Stompp didn't get a lot of expression when they were shown in "PenalTeam", but I kinda ended up working with how calm they were. The way they addressed Chloe not knowing the kwamis names gave her a Disapproving Mother vibe, so I went with them being a nurturer. I picture them wanting to watch over their holder, particularly children ones, and watch them grow into full grown Oxes.

Roarr - So this one was easy cuz they've been very consistent in the show, and since the kwamis default to loud and bratty when they're in Mob Mode (ie, when all the kwamis act in sync instead of in line with their personalities), Roarr was simply a too rambunctious child. An extrovert to the extreme. Their name is very appropriate.

Fluff - This one is pretty established in canon, so I guess I'll just extend my headcanon. Fluff is easily confused and babbles a lot, and I think it's because they're being constantly bombarded with information from so many timelines. Existence is a prison and Fluff just comes across as dumb because all their brain power is overheating from a massive influx of information, so they have nothing else to offer in the Present.

Longg - "Ikari Gozen" makes them out to be a Long Winded Old Man/Woman (depending on the dub lol), but aside from them being pretty polite later, they don't hold on to it. I am. Longg is old as shit and just wants these damn kids to hear out their long ass stories, but they just don't know how to edit because it's been forever since they've been out of the box (a nod to how Dragons are now "mythical"). They don't know how to talk to the youngins anymore.

Sass - Okay, c'mon, we all know Sass. Sass is the only one we know definitively. They're the leader and being level headed and calm is the thing that distinguishes him from the rest. He is mildly cursed like Fluff to recall every remade time line, remembering what happened the other times that needed a second chance, but it's less of a burden than it is for Fluff.

Kaalki - I opted to lean in to her being a Diva, obviously thanks to her attitude in "Startrain". You'd think that'd clash with Max, so the struggle was more about making them work together despite that, so I also gave her a fascination with innovation. She's not very technologically literate, but she's interested in what humans have been able to do, especially when it comes to exploration. But in the end, she's still pretty vain lol.

Ziggy - since they were very upset at how mean Chloe was in "Miracle Queen" as opposed to angry like Stompp and Roarr, I felt Ziggy was probably younger and a bit sensitive. I also leaned into some goat traits, having them eat paper and headbutt Nathaniel.

Xuppu - Xuppu can easily become very annoying, especially in "Destruction" where they're trying to be helpful, but uhhhh...they aren't. So I just stuck with how they were portrayed in their canon debut episode. Like Roarr, Xuppu is very much like A Child, so even in Mob Mode they feel in character - getting into stuff and making a mess.

Orikko - I made them very patient, which you gotta be when your powers are bullshit and you constantly have to give a tutorial on how they work. They could talk all day with their holder trying to find loopholes.

Barkk - So they have two standout moments where they're allowed individuality - in "Furious Fu" and "Risk". In the former, they are stubbornly staying behind to guard the house and the Miracle Box, and in the latter, they're super excited at getting a new holder and getting to "play". So both a guard dog and a puppy. I met in the middle where they DO really want to play, but also want everyone to be as excited as them which takes a little coaxing. Like an Extrovery adopting Introverts.

Daizzi - They're just very sweet. Almost just like Rose but soft spoken. They feel very much but like to focus on the things they like, no matter how simple they are.

Would you be willing to do an analysis on Karlach and how she seems to compartmentalize a lot of extreme feelings? Like she gives me the sense that that was how she coped in Avernus to stay alive and reduce the odds of exploitation by devils, but it's fascinating to see how fast she seems to shut down anything negative to the point that she disapproves of Tav/Durge questioning the ethics of using soul coins.

I haven't done the Karlach origin, so I may be missing some context or information. That being said LETS GOOOO 👏👏👏

Karlach has a reputation in fandom for being a cinnamon roll, but she is so much more than that. Her personality is really complex, and her history is full of decisions and actions that reflect her upbringing and the situations she was forced to survive. That history helped shape how she sees and responds to the world around her.

On Soul Coins: Soul Coins are small, coin-shaped objects forged of infernal iron into which a single mortal soul has been bound. They are used as currency in the Nine Hells, and can be used to power infernal engines such as the one in Karlach's chest

They contain an entire MORTAL SOUL. The full essence of a person, and once used in Karlachs engine, that persons soul is destroyed in a way that makes it irretrievable.

What does this mean? Can souls in coins be saved? Yes! From the forgotten realms wiki:

It was possible to release the soul within a soul coin. This could be achieved by casting an anti-curse spell, such as remove curse, on the coin. Once a soul was freed, the coin began rusting and was eventually destroyed. If the soul was of a good alignment, they were transported to the realm of their deity. If the soul was of an evil alignment, they were transported to the Styx and transformed into a lemure (dang yo lol)

Karlach sees the coins as a tool to enhance her power. If the player reminds her that soul is a person, she gets very angry and says she /knows/ that. She still believes that they should be used to juice her up. You can obtain quite a bit of disapproval from Karlach by questioning the use of the soul coins in Act 1.

Additionally, Karlach has unique dialogue with Mattis the tiefling child in the Last Light Inn. She essentially encourages the kids racket scheme, and if the player pipes up to say her advice isn't moral/ethical/a good suggestion, she has a strong disapproval and puts the PC in their place by saying you have NO RIGHT to intervene on her opinions of how a (poor, displaced) tiefling child should act to better their personal situation.

We are also aware that in her past, At some point Karlach lived in the city of Baldur's Gate in Faerûn, where she worked as personal bodyguard for Lord Enver Gortash. Personal bodyguard is key: this implies she was at his side, whenever he did whatever he was doing at the time. It is also stated that she "would do anything for him", and was betrayed by him. Her anger with him is based on what he put her through, and I do not believe she expresses anything about what he had her do while she was a bodyguard.

Karlach is not a "morally pure: character prior to Avernus, nor was she one during her time in Avernus, nor is she one when she escapes. The game never implies that she is.

However! What Karlach is is extremely loyal, and a SURVIVOR. She has the mentality of 'do what you need to do to survive', and she WILL do what she needs to do to survive. She came from a poor upbringing, she did the best she could with what she had, and now that she's escaped Avernus she wants to CELEBRATE and experience as much joy as possible before she burns up.

This makes her very sensitive to anything that might 'kill the vibe'. She doesn't want to face things like her impending death (she tries very hard to get you to stop talking about it) she doesn't want to question the coins, she doesn't want to deal with big moral questions when the bare bones of the situation are that that kid probably needs to be a thief in order to make it by, "morals" be damned.

Karlach went through hell. Literally. She was incredibly abused psychologically and physically and used as a weapon. She doesn't have the TIME to do anything other than be glad that she's not there anymore. She wants to smell the grass, drink the ale, laugh, love, make friends, enjoy as much as she can while she can. Is she a good person? I'd say so, yeah. But is she a paragon of virtue? No. She was never meant to be, nor was she ever given the opportunity to be.

She knows that reality is a lot harder and a lot more in your face than any higher 'ideals' that may be the best looking on paper. This may be an unpopular opinion as well, but I think if Gortash hadn't sold her, she very likely would have ended up on a path where she would happily do some pretty sketchy shit.

I'm not sure I'd say she compartmentalizes so much as actively chooses to avoid addressing things, to the point where it pisses her off if you try to push her. It's an avoidance of choice, maybe even a rationalization situation.

You do the best you can with the hand you're given. She always did. And now she's only got a few minutes left to enjoy what time she has, so... she does.

"Beautiful."

It's not something Jade hears often or at all. And when he does, that word is certainly not being directed toward him. It's towards another or a gift. When a client is in reach of their goal, that is when he hears it the most.

Yet for once, the word was meant for him. And during an odd time at that.

The memory makes a grin inch onto his face. It happened not too long ago. When you and he were on opposing sides. When you wanted to free your friends and reclaim your home he, along with Floyd, was sent to stop you. It's then that you saw his true form.

Eels aren't pretty. Mermaids are pretty.

Jade has seen the look of fear run through merfolk and humankind alike whenever their eyes meet. It's something he doesn't tire of. Watching his prey swim or run, thinking they can escape.

Yet, fear never struck your eyes. Something akin to awe and wonder sparked from what he could see. Here he was intending to trounce your plans and you had spoken a very quiet compliment towards him. Or perhaps his brother? Your eyes did meet, but regardless he was intent on finding out the meaning behind what you said.

"Prefect," he calls for you with his usual, welcoming smile on his face. "What brings you to the lounge today?"

"I just wanted to see if Grim or the others were here," you sigh.

Jade notes how you relax around him. Too quickly do your shoulders drop and you find comfort in his presence. Don't you know that he's a predator and you're his prey? How he could easily sink his teeth into your skin, literally, figuratively, either works for him.

"I don't want them making a deal with Azul...again."

Jade chuckles. "If they were, I would inform you."

You raise a brow, suspicion in your gaze. There's the wariness he's used to. "And lose out on a customer for your boss? Why?" You narrow your eyes, but he finds that your gaze isn't all that serious, more curious. "Is he overworking you or something?"

"Not in the slightest. Don't you trust me, dear Prefect?"

There's a pause as you take in a breath. Jade is patient, unlike his brother. Although he observes every movement you make. Your breathing, the way you look him up and down, the way he sees your mind work behind your eyes. It's fascinating.

"I...guess I can?" There's uncertainty in his voice, which is natural. He's aware of his dubious disposition yet you still have some faith in him. How interesting. "If they're not here, I should go then."

"Prefect," again, he calls for you. You stay. "Would you mind answering a question before you leave?"

"Sure."

His smile widens. This time a bit of his sharp teeth show. The eel notices you glance at them. No fear, no nothing. Only an intense curiosity. Or perhaps something more?

"I believe you once said something truly...unthinkable. Someone one should never say to an eel." He hums and walks around you. If he was in his true form he could coil his lower half around you, keeping you in a tight hold. While you have access to freedom while he's in this form, you still wouldn't be able to escape him. "Didn't you once call me and my brother beautiful?"

You freeze upon hearing his question, practically paralyzed.

"You heard that?!" You breathe, cheeks flushed.

You avoid his gaze. You're aware of his unique magic but doubt he'd waste it on you, especially over this. Or maybe he would. Who knows what he'd do to get an answer out of you.

Now you begin to look like prey, something he could chase. Fear might be coursing through you, albeit it's for a different reason than the norm. Still, he enjoys seeing you squirm underneath his gaze.

"I did. You shouldn't doubt a merfolk's abilities in their natural habitat."

You gulp and take in a deep breath. You're not afraid of him. Not really. Okay, maybe a little. But you've got enough courage (or stupidity as others may say) to stand your ground.

"You are...both of you," you answer. His eyes widened for a moment, shocked to hear such honesty. "I know I said it when you were in your other forms...they were just so beautiful! I've never seen anything like it before. B-But I don't want you to think you're not beautiful like this too!" You stammer out and avoid his gaze.

"Oya?" That split second of shock had disappeared, returning to his usual look. For a moment, his eyes soften. Although it's hard to tell with him. "I would have never guessed you were interested in us. Is that why you're not running?"

"What gives you that impression?" You giggle, really taking pleasure in Gabriel's possessive display. It's not the worst he's been, or the most dramatic, but it still riles you up nonetheless. 

"The doe eyed look you were giving him, your little giggles." His jaw tightens as he talks. 

You know he trusts you fully, yet you also know there are just some emotions that overwhelm him easily. 

"Somebody's jealous." You coo, as you rest your hands on his chest and cast him a cheeky look. 

His arms wrap around you, holding you tight and close. "Not jealous, territorial." 

"Don't worry, my real type is still tall, dark, handsome, and called Gabriel." You beam up at him, as you truly wouldn't even consider actually entertaining anyone else's affections.

In the arms of your love, you feel completely at home. Looking up at him now only reminds you that you're right where you belong. 

"Good to know." He replies, then begins to haul you away by your arm. "But just in case, I think you need a reminder." 

"We're ditching?" You ask, as you struggle to keep pace as he heads back through the crowd.

He comes closer as the two of you move, his head dipping down beside your ear. "Oh, you'd rather stay at the welcoming party of your new friend?" 

"No Gabe." You still him for a moment, as you return his whispers. 

"Good." He grunts, resuming your journey once more.

When you're out of everyone's earshot and on your way to your quarters, Gabriel slams you into the wall of the hallway. 

His hands come to your waist, pressing you in as he traps you against the hard surface. His eyes are dark and stormy.

"I'm gonna fuck you until you forget his name." He growls. "And your own." 

He presses his growing erection against you, as he comes to whisper to you once more.

Heart and Alchemical Womb-Centered Grounded Spirituality and Leadership From The Melody of Love, Pre-View

We are in the middle of an incredibly important shift in consciousness, a real transformative time and turning of the Ages. In this new era, we either ascend or face the consequences—this is grown woman speech here.

Humanity gets to decide whether we journey towards truth, meaning increase our value so that we can ascend with Mother Earth and create what is termed “The New Earth” or stay on the path of violence, pillaging, materialism, domination, individualism, competition, sex trafficking, and senseless destruction. This world needs its Mother. Bring love, but also bring her a machete, meaning—some level of destruction and death are always necessary, but the senseless destruction, death, and complete disregard for human life are harmful to the bodies and psyches us all.

This paradigm shift requires a certain type of woman, female bodied person, or feminine soul; one who recognises the isolation, pain and destructiveness of the old ways, is ready to carve out paths to the new ways, and acknowledges the sacredness of being on this incredibly loving and rigorous journey of full aliveness within our body. If you are reading my work, I believe this woman is you and you deserve a vibrant body and lively life because you need to be in a space of full power in order to release your unique gifts. More than ever, we need courageous way showers like you who are not afraid to do their own internal and external ‘work’ in order to remain steady and grounded in the face of present and future chaos and who will continue to shine the brightest wettest light and hold space for others, no matter what. I call this archetypal frequency in female form the lover-warrior. We deeply need to love. But also need to remember how to fight..spiritually. Because when we understand who we really are, then we can favorably shift the reality, our own individual reality and the collective one. That's how powerful the feminine is.

As womb holders, even if our wombs have been surgically removed, energetically our wombs are still present and available which means that we have access to the grandest intelligence: the ability to feel… deeply. We can intuit next step directions and solutions that do not look like those same old archaic solutions.  That’s because we are natural born leaders and if you study human behavior and psychology objectively, you will realize how women have always been leaders. Males are generally and wonderfully physically stronger but females are mentally, psychically, and spiritually superior which makes us natural leaders. I do want to be clear— I’m not talking about status quo women. I am talking about awakened women. We are experiencing the results of a world built and run by men--and we have to be honest about that without ego. And men, especially, have to be more honest about what's happening. We are not to be at odds with one other or we all lose this game.

We live this robotic, unnatural, anti-nature, anti-care system that was designed by males for the wellbeing of men. . We may be female but our bodies are living in a male energy system and the result of it has been exhaustion, lack of fulfillment, burnout, heavy monthly bleed times, an increase in infertility and other female reproductive chronic issues, and the like. Everything about life, including the structure of marriage, how a typical work week is organized, the 9-5 Monday-Friday toxicity, exhausts women but gives men more energy, status, and power. As a woman of African ancestry who feels deeply connected to many parts of the global world, I always found it fascinating that even though men were out front acting as "leaders," it was the African wives behind the scenes giving direction and counsel to their husbands while holding a baby in one arm and stirring a homemade pot of stew with the other one. Any African woman knows this to be true. But the continent of Africa has massive issues and shadows, as does the rest of the entire world. The lack of true feminine energy present on the planet is making us all unwell and the earth will kick us out of here if we don’t discover better ways to align. I know women want to hear that men are the saviors just like what we read in Disney books. We fall asleep then are magically awakened by our Prince Charming who awakens us from our ignorant sleepy frequency. But, my love, these were all deliberate programs planted into the psyches of little girls that bankrupted us of our real power. Primal power.

We were lied to and all must deprogram from the scarcity, greed, and lack neurology we learned as little girls so that we can have full access to our intelligent alchemical natures and female resources to live more as magical women, divine beings, fulfilled wives/spouses, daughters, nieces, and mothers and less needy, victims, or prey.  We must get to know our feet, our calves, our legs, our hips, our pelvises, our asses, our spines, our bellies, breasts, throats, mouths, etc. Women/female bodied people are leaders (and the first teachers and healers as well) who will always give birth to new leaders no matter what. We are the ones divinely designed to midwife the New Earth through the magic of our frequency, vibration, thoughts, beliefs, and habits/action terrestrially and cosmically, and sometimes while in the embrace of a mature lover which can beautifully be a man (or not). But having a man, being with a man, in the way it is being falsely taught in male-centered women spaces online is never required and easily can separate you from the truth of your full aliveness -mainly because you are living through the programming and script and not fully conscious and accessing your entire body and its potential. And when you do, you can easily trigger a male’s fragile ego.

Ma’am, I’m going deep and wide in this book series—no tip-toeing around. A book series of love that isn't fluffy and is willing to tell the whole truth.

I was wondering if you personally had any specific lore branches you hope are expanded upon in the future? Or things that got brushed over you want to be addressed again?

Like, mine is how the Buster Bros traumatic events affected them, more specifically Jiro and Saburo.

I have a ton of plot points I'd be fascinated to learn more about, even if I think the likelihood of some of them showing up is very small. An incomplete list from off the top of my head:

Jirou is far more of a people person than either of his brothers, but I'd like to see how he developed that more outgoing streak. In particular, what led to him developing a friendship with Urumi? It's implied he has other "contacts" as well, and it'd be nice to someday see those.

What led Juuto, a person with such a unique sense of justice, to becoming a police officer in the first place? How did his friendship with his older cop buddy influence his approach to policing, even before drugs became a factor?

We already got a scene of Riou's time in the war and why he respects Major Iojaku so much, but I would eat up more of that any day.

I'd love to know more about why Gentarou respects his brother so much to the point that he (appears to, at least at this point in time with our understanding of canon) take on his brother's identity in the wake of his hospitalization.

I have the sneaking suspicion it was mentioned at least offhand in a drama track (which I don't usually listen to... at least not more than once), but I would like to know more about Dice and Otome's falling out.

I know I'm a broken record about this. I'm sorry. But even for all the lovely headcanons people create, I really, really, really want to know the canon reason Jakurai, a character with deep moral convictions to save as many people as possible and one who remains torn for years on end about hurting people, became a hired killer. Maybe KR wants to backpedal on this and sweep it under the rug in the hopes they can retcon it. Maybe they think we'll all forget. Yet much like Pepperidge Farm, I remember. And I'm still waiting for an answer.

Similarly, it's been mentioned a couple of times that Doppo doesn't really have friends outside of Hifumi and Jakurai (and his work colleagues, I suppose) which I find a little odd. Especially prior to working at EL Medical, there's nothing about his behavior that would suggest he struggles to make and maintain friendships. Why doesn't he have old college or high school buddies? What's the deal there? Would love to know.

Not lore-related, but I think Kuukou would have been the most god-awful toddler imaginable. I would like to see it.

We actually probably will get (at least some of) Rei's rationale behind his more questionable decisions in canon, which I welcome. I'd like to know what led to him becoming the person he is today, and I have quite a few questions about what his relationship with his wife was like if Sasara and Roshou remind him of him and his wife. (Presumably, they must have been very poor communicators lol)

Also not lore-related, but I sincerely hope Jakurai keeps finding opportunities to regale impressionable ears with stupid shit Hitoya did in middle school. Hitoya's great, man. He thinks he's so cool--and he IS cool, in a great many ways--but all the things he thinks are cool are actually just him being a giant dork. God bless.

A while back, I mentioned I was going to do a Rook post because he’s incredibly sus haha. Not gonna lie, I almost forgot about it ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´ω`ﾟ)ﾟ｡ @voidlesslove, this one is for you! Thanks for reminding me because I think the results I found CHANGE EVERYTHING!!

Rook is a…strange boy, to say the least. As Epel describes him, the more you know about him, the more mysterious he is. However, Rook is incredibly honest and true to himself. He genuinely believes in the beauty in the world. It’s fitting he’s part of the ‘light magic trio’ that includes Kalim and Silver.

I am certain that there is a purposeful parallel between Rook and CROWLEY. Sounds weird, but Rook is one of the many keys to getting a glimpse of Crowley’s true personality. I’d say it’s to the point that Rook and Crowley are two sides of the same coin. I went through so many chats, vignettes, main story, and events to gather info for this, so I’d like to think that there is a connection 😭

Let’s start off the with basics. Rook, Crowley. Both names are a reference to the birds from the Corvid family: Rooks and Crows. Funnily enough, Crows tend to be solitary compared to the sociable Rooks. How fitting. The TWST wiki mentions how Rook could also be a reference to the chess piece, which resembles a castle. The wiki also mentions that Rook’s name being from the Corvid family might also be a reference to the Evil Queen’s pet crow.

It’s likely the reason why both of them make avian references. In Rook’s flight lessons, he often expresses the desire to fly and to be free, but interestingly enough, Book 5 has him make a lot of egg and chick references.

It’s more obvious in the JP text, but Crowley makes many, MANY egg and chick references. He views the students as eggs with unhatched potential- which makes him somewhat of a father figure, as he wishes to raise them.

In Book 5, Rook goes off on a tangent on how he views the others as unhatched chicks with potential- and how they each have an “egg tooth” that is unique to them. Since he’s also serving as a mentor figure to us, it makes sense that he sees us as baby birds or eggs. Coincidence?? I THINK NOT.

This may be a throwaway line, but I think it’s still another similarity. “With masks, we are free.” To Rook, Crowley is probably the one with the most freedom. From the way he flys, uses magic, and hides behind a mask, Crowley is free while everyone else is caged. (Credit to Ekala on YouTube for this Glorious Masquerade translation)

Side note, I’m a huge fan of the ‘Rook is a bird beastman’ theory, because no regular human could hear heartbeats or see far away things in detail without a binocular. But it makes me wonder- if Crowley was a bird FAE- and the Fae already have heightened senses- would he have Rook’s level of perception?? Kind of creepy to think about haha…

I believe that their similar references and themes set up Rook to be a character that has a greater understanding of Crowley than we ever could. However, there’s a catch- While Rook is honest and true, Crowley putting up an act, a facade. Or to be more specific, an enemy hiding in plain sight. Rook says many things that actually allude to this, and it’s very fascinating. If Crowley were to be revealed to be a traitor or a villain, Rook will be the character that will immediately understand Crowley’s motives- or even warn the others before the truth is revealed.

Book 6 is the most obvious hint. Rook mentions how hiding doesn’t signify weakness or cowardice. It’s just another strategic move to create bigger damage- by striking the enemy down when their guard is down.

And what has Crowley been doing this whole time? In the beginning, he seemed very reliable and mysterious. But over time, he pushes more work into MC, covering up Overblots, and generally makes himself look like a blubbering fool.

Yet the mystery is still there. He hides himself behind Yuu and just makes himself seem incompetent to the point that no student or player feels like they could rely on him. But Crowley is waiting for the right time to strike- he’s been Headmage for NRC for at least 100 years, and who knows how old he actually is. He’s successful and powerful for a reason. And in another post I made, Crowley is a “clever hawk who hides his talons.”

Another clue was how Rook says “many beasts and BIRDS use vocal mimicry to lure their prey.” Very…specific, don’t you think? Again, another tactic. Crowley actually has a surprising vocal range depending on his emotions. Compare the voice in the prologue to Crowley sobbing or being overly flamboyant and frustrated. My man has RANGE, and definitely uses it to his advantage to make himself appear weaker.

This hint was far more subtle, but sometimes that really intrigues me. When an Special Lesson is triggered when Rook is in an Alchemy lesson, he may say that “I feel as though I’m the quarry.” Aka Crowley’s prey. Rook definitely prides himself on being a hunter, how no prey can escape him, how he openly wants Leona to bite into his windpipe (this boy need help-). But no matter how threatening his prey is, Aka Malleus, Leona, the Tweels, Rook never feels like he’s the one being hunted. In fact, the more dangerous and defiant they are, the more he wants to chase them (he says this in a Ghost Marriage card line).

But the one character that Rook feels like he’s prey to is…Crowley? Hm. Interesting

This last hint was a blink-and-you-miss-it one, but it’s SO INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT, and cements the idea that Rook understands Crowley to a t.

A true enemy will never look over you…it is he who hovers in your periphery with a smile that you must be wary of.

In EVERY SINGLE ANIMATION, Crowley is always smiling. In the opening movie, in the anniversaries, he’s never interacting with any character, yet still has a smile on his face.

Many people in the fandom think Crowley is a deadbeat, lazy, coward, weaklings, etc. And you know what? It’s true to an extent, because that’s exactly what Crowley wants us to believe. And the more everyone believes it, the more he smiles.

(Aka my dramatic ass has to end with a dramatic ass line haha. But seriously, my mind is BLOWN AWAY from all this information, and I genuinely believe that these two parallel each other. But what do y’all think?? I was going to mention somewhere that Rook transferred from Savannaclaw, thus needing a private ritual, but I didn’t think it was too relevant 🤔 I could toss in a theory that Rook collects so much information to relay to Crowley, but he’s much too honest to do something like that? I’m not sure if Rook and Crowley have a LITERAL connection to each other, but there’s certainly something symbolic.)
