Summary - Movie night leads to the cutest moment

Traveling with the doctor made everything a little bit more complicated. There were times that you thought you had died and gone to heaven because surely this wasn’t your life! Surely you weren’t fighting aliens and monsters and everything in between. But, somehow it was your reality and you loved every last second of it. 

You loved being able to save all of those innocent beings, you loved the thrill of running for your life hand in hand with a handsome timelord, you loved the excitement of waking up wondering what new planet you were going to wind up on, and you especially loved your doe-eyed, sticky uppy haired timelord.

That's right you had fallen head over heels with the Doctor. There was something so utterly fantastic about him, that you couldn’t help yourself. He was like the painting museums kept hidden in the very back, not admired by everyone but the ones who saw the beauty in it enough to stay were truly lucky. The TARDIS never took him to where he wanted to go, but only where he needed to go. And, she took him to you- you of all the creatures and being in the universe.  You felt lucky enough that he picked you as his companion, although he would always say that you picked him. 

This was the biggest mystery in the whole entire universe to you. But, you decided to thank your lucky stars she had deemed you worthy of him. 

Your relationship with the Doctor was interesting to say the very least. There would be fleeting glances, small touches, and most importantly…movie nights.  Because, if the Doctor was one thing- he was a sap when it came to seeing you happy.

Nothing seemed to make you happier than having a weekly movie night. A simple time where you two were able to stay in and enjoy each other's company and simply be in the stillness. At first, the Doctor absolutely hated it. He was a time lord for heaven’s sake! He was meant to be running about and fixing things, but you quickly changed his mind. Especially once the Christmas season rolled around. 

There you were in your very fuzzy large hoodie in your absolutely favorite color, or your  “movie night hoodie” as you deemed it. You had made yourself a makeshift fort amongst all the blankets the Doctor seemed to have in his movie room. Even though you’ve spent what felt like years with the Doctor and his little blue box, you still find yourself constantly surprised by new things. The excitement seemed to practically burst out of you as you wiggled in your spot on the very large couch. 

The best part about tonight was that it was your turn to pick the movie. Last week the doctor picked ‘A Muppets Christmas Carol’, which he claimed was an utter classic (and he was absolutely right). It was honestly adorable to see him get so passionate about something for you, something so very human. It warmed your heart to see someone who had the universe at his very fingertips willing to pay attention to you and what you liked. 

Tonight you decided to pick one of your all-time favorite Christmas movies ‘Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer’. This was the movie you were brought up on as a child, and even though your childhood had some rocky patches in it this movie always brought up wonderfully warm nostalgia. 

Slowly your head moved back and forth as the title credits began to play. You could practically feel the Christmas spirit swell up in your belly like some kind of Christmas magic. Funny how pure moments from our childhood can make us believe in magic all over again.

“Please tell me you didn’t start it without me!” The Doctor peaked his head into the room as he carried a tower of snacks with everything from popcorn, candy, and even some perfectly balanced mugs of hot cocoa in his arms. 

Your eyes flicked over to him as they widened with anxiety. “Doctor I swear if you drop any of that-” you sighed as he raised an eyebrow at you before setting everything down on the coffee table. Smugly he gave you a ‘you were saying’ look as you picked up the blankets and he snuggled up right next to you. 

Sometimes you forgot just how affectionate this regeneration of his was, and honestly, you didn’t mind. His ninth regeneration was kind, but never like this. He never curled up to you like a cat desperately seeking warmth. But, ten on the other hand…well he was a completely different story.

“No of course I didn’t start it without you, the opening credits are just a mile long, so I thought we’d get those out of the way,” you said as you kept nodding your head along to the music

“Ah, how smart of you, no wonder I chose you as my companion.” he hummed wrapping one arm around yours and resting his head on your shoulder. When he was this close it made you want to confess every last thing you felt for him. But, something always held you back and you always let it. 

Trying your very best to ignore how fast your heart was pounding you turned your attention to the movie and forced yourself to get lost in it. Everything was going perfectly until- 

“What do you mean they won’t let him be a dentist!” The Doctor exclaimed sitting up straight with concern in his eyes. He looked like a golden retriever who just lost his favorite ball, and it made your heart utterly melt. 

“Well they want him to be an elf just like everyone else is, he has to make toys for Santa, or else no one thinks he’s any use.” you tried your best to explain but it seemed fruitless. 

“NO USE?!?! Y/N dear there’s plenty of use for a dentist at the North Pole! Do you know how much sugar those elves digest on a daily basis?” he said taking a couple of sips of his hot cocoa.

“Oh just watch the movie spaceman.”  you playfully rolled your eyes as you patted the spot next to you again, and happily, he settled back down. This time resting his head in your lap. Oh the things this alien does to you

A little while later you were on the part where Rudolph decides to sacrifice himself if needs be and rescue his hometown. Glancing down at the Doctor a small smile formed on your lips as you saw how intently he was watching the movie. Absentmindedly, you started to play with his hair. Then all of a sudden you heard a soft “Y/N?” and you froze. 

Gently, he reached up and grabbed your hand encouraging you to keep going “No no please don’t stop, I um erm um I like it.” he choked out awkwardly but it warmed your soul nonetheless. So, you kept going and could practically feel him relax into you. 

It was peaceful moments like this with the Doctor that you’d always valued. There was nothing quite like being able to sit on the couch and make the man who always runs relax for a couple of moments. Not every person can claim they’ve managed to tame the Doctor, but you proudly have. Even if it was just a little bit. To you, it meant the entire world- no the entire universe.

There you two laid, a tangled mess of Christmas warmth and love, even if it was just platonic love you were okay with that. For to be loved by the Doctor in any fashion was the greatest kind of them all. As the end of the movie played neither of you dared to move from your spots. Too scared you’d break the magic that seemed to be surrounding you. 

“Doctor-”

You two blushed a light pink as you laughed at the awkward moment. Slowly, he picked up his head from your lap moving closer to you. His eyes held a mixture of fear, love, worry, and adoration. Somehow you could tell that it was all for you. After a long silence, he finally blurted out something he’d been dying to ask since you bumped into the TARDIS.

“Can I kiss you?”

Without even thinking you quickly nodded moving impossibly closer to him. Your heart was racing faster and faster, and to be honest you were a little concerned that you’d have a heart attack. Then, as if out of a dream, it finally happened. 

His lips collided with yours in a beautiful sympathy, and you knew for sure then that you truly loved him. His kiss was everything you ever dreamed about and even more. Your arms wrapped around his neck as his hand got tangled up in your hair as he smiled in the kiss. 

As you two pulled back for some air you both wore the same dopey love-sick grin. “Merry Christmas Doctor,” you whispered gently.

“Oh merry Christmas my shooting star,” he replied stealing another kiss from you…and another….and another….and- oh you get the point.

80's Fantasy month :Time Bandits

Welcome to 80's Fantasy month where I shall look at classics of 80's fantasy ,starting with a personal childhood favorite

A young boy named Kevin(Craig Warnock ) is whisked away by the Time Bandits (David Rappaport ,Kenny Baker,Jack Purvis ,Malcolm Dixon ,Mike Edmonds and Tiny Ross ) ,servents of the Supreme Being (Ralph Richardson)who have decided to use a map to various holes in time to get stinking rich ,unfortunately they are being watched by Evil (David Warner )who wants to use the map to take over the universe

This is a film that feels diffrent watching as a kid then as adult .As a kid the creativity and imganitive visuals are what stood out to me ,but as an adult its the cynical humor . I love the tactile look of the world,you feel the grime and dirt ,and I adore the costume design from the Bandits whose costumes are made of bits and bobs from diffrent eras to Evil who has a biomechanical look fitting his obseeion with technology .CErtain visuals have stuck with me since I was a kid like the giant with a ship as a hat ,or the minotaur who I cant tell is just a guy wearing a dead bull head or is a legit minotaur .The cynical humor really stands out to me as an adult from the fact the great figures,mythical and historical tend to not be as great as youd expect them to be ,to God being less this wise beneovlent being and more a grumpy kind of distracted guy ,to the Bandits not really being heroes but just a bunch of guys trying to make a quick buck to the ending which didnt work for me as a kid but works now for me

The film is full of guest stars who do their small parts really well with IAn Holm as a height obsessed Napoleon, John Cleese as a faux friendly Robin Hood ,Michael Palin and Shelley Duvall as starcrossed lovers ,Peter Vaughn as an Ogre with a bad back,Katherine Helmond as his wife (Apparently it was her idea for her to be human while he is an ogre,and that makes it even funnier that they are just so lovey dovey ) ,legendary Shakesperian actor Ralph Richardson appears as the Supreme Being ,and even Sean Connery appears perfectly cast as Kevins pseudo father figure Aggamenon (If I have a complaint with the film I do wish they were able to do the finale as originally intended with him coming to aid Kevin in the final battle but cest la vie )

David Warner is scene stealing as Evil.Warner is perfectly cast being both sinister but really funny as he discusses how understanding digital watches ,Car telephones and VCR's will help rule the universe .He balances the comedy well while still being a classic fantasy bad guy .I love the final battle where he is just easilly taking down every attack thrown at him

Kevin is a solid lead,a kid interested in history who is the voice of reason among chaos.The Bandits themselves are great,all 6 actors are wonderful,though I think the standouts have to be David Rappaport as the egotistical Randall ,Jack Purvis as the tough Wally and Kenny Bakker as the friendkly Fidget

Overall this is a funny and wonderfully creative movie and if you havent seen it give it a watch

My Top 5 Male TVDU Characters

It took me a while, but since I did my top 5 female TVDU characters a little while ago, here’s my top 5 boys. *While number 1 & 2 are pretty locked in, the other characters do shift around in my ranking some times*

NUMBER 5 - MARCEL GERARD

Marcel is one of the most well adjusted vampires in the whole TVD universe (TVD, TO & Legacies). It’s like he was born to become a vampire. While he’s definitely done bad things (as all vampires have), he has a good heart. Despite being a vampire, he still has some morals and rules he abides to, such as his rule to not hurt kids. He can be kind and charming, while also being harsh enough to take down people who threaten him. And unlike a lot of other vamps, his kindness can actually be genuine. Personally, I would’ve liked to see the writers use him more and give him better storylines in the later seasons of The Originals, but that’s just one of my many issues with the writers/showrunners 👀

NUMBER 4 - STEFAN SALVATORE

I loved watching Stefan’s whole ripper arc; seeing him struggle with that dark side of himself, and all the while, just wanting to be good. Ngl, he had a tough time throughout the show. The writers loved throwing trauma at him. From being manipulated by Katherine, being kidnapped and used by Klaus, losing Elena to his own brother, finding out that he lost a child with Valerie when he was human, and then dying on his own wedding day; this man did not catch a break. That being said, he was a caring, (mostly) selfless person, and he deserved better. Paul Wesley killed this role.

NUMBER 3 - DAMON SALVATORE

I know some people won’t like that Damon is higher in my ranking than Stefan, but it’s only by a small margin. The Salvatore brothers were kind of neck and neck for me in my ranking for a while, but what made Damon just get ahead? His humour. That was one of his redeeming features. I always enjoyed his one liners and jokes. He didn’t always take everything seriously. Did he do terrible things to other characters? Yeah, I don’t deny that. I feel like Damon is one of the few vampires, especially in season 1, to show the lack of morality and humanity that vampires have, which I think is important because let’s be honest, vampires are not supposed to be cuddly, sweet angels. For the most part, Damon is not a nice person, but when he cares about someone (Elena & later Bonnie for example), he tries to be better. He doesn’t always succeed. He fails a lot in fact, but he keeps trying.

NUMBER 2 - ELIJAH MIKAELSON

His entrance into TVD is one of my highlights from the entire show. He had me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what he did next in season 2 of TVD. I loved watching the juxtaposition between him being the honourable gentleman, and the vampire within that contained the horrors behind the red door. Watching him put down his enemies with his sassy, yet classy comebacks was always funny. All of his romances were great (Daniel gillies could have chemistry with a tree). A lot of his scenes with Klaus in The Originals were particularly good; not just because of the wonderful acting, but also because watching their complex relationship, full of love and resentment, play out on screen was entertaining. My eyes were glued to the screen whenever he appeared in TVD.

NUMBER 1 - KLAUS MIKAELSON

My all time favourite character in the whole TVDU. Klaus was one of the few characters who was well written, had consistent characterisation (his personality/hopes didn’t randomly change between TVD & TO like certain others 👀), and went through some decent development over the seasons. I adored his scenes. If there’s one thing I love, it’s complicated villain characters and Klaus fit the bill. I think a big reason why I love this character so much is because he was played so wonderfully by Joseph Morgan. And while he is my fav, I don’t deny that Klaus did awful things constantly, some times for no reason other than he was bored or being petty. He WAS a villain. That being said, even when he was doing bad things, I couldn’t help being interested in his character and enjoying the drama of it all.

Ok so Yesenia is or was symphony the OH beauty. So since the OH was in a coma she could constantly pull from it. So does this mean now that she can’t. Does her ugly green face get shown or does this wonderfully made trash get to stay the way they are.

Just wondering because it be pretty funny if her beauty is decaying over time.

With Nothingness existing inside the body now, a shield was erected. MC mind is no longer a minefield that others can enter at will, nor is the mc beauty something that is up for grab. Everything on the Mc/OH body is being protected by an unseen force.

Yesenia was never ugly in the first place. We're all human and sometimes when we look in the mirror, we see ourselves as flawed and that is what happened to Yesenia.

Lady Anaya has always been the number 1 beauty in Nasmar, Nautrally she gave birth to a child that is like a goddess walking amongst the lowest of the low. Whenever Yesenia saw this relative of hers from afar, they're always surrounded by many people, who compliments them/basking in their beauty. Yesenia has always been jealous of that, she always felt that she's the one that should be adored by others. Not the OH who's a bastard child! By a stroke of luck Yesenia was gifted a book, with drawings of a certain ritual. That book gave them instructions on how to syphon ones beauty and take it as your own. So she did just that.

MC in their previous life was a beautiful young person. With nothingness restoring the body to its original state and the mc beauty from the past life combining together even the small amount of beauty that was syphon off is just like a gum at the bottom ones shoe. To not raise suspicion Nothingness suppressed the mc abilities and their beauty.

So the beauty that Yesenia stole is still with her. That cannot be taken back but the mc will outshine her regardless. So no my dear anon, Yesenia is not ugly.... yet.

Star Wars (1977) #03: Death Star!

Yay, they fixed the logo!

Honestly this whole page is fantastic. I love the composition, the wacky fonts, Mr. Leialoha getting credited as Leia, Alderaan's appearance? Beautiful.

Motti's two lines weren't important enough to include him in the issue so we get Vader being an errand boy, which I love. Also Leia's space racist line equating humanity with morality in a world with an untold number of sentient species is retained from the script.

Ben's reaction to the destruction of Alderaan is next. At this point a disturbance in the Force was still called an "ebbing" - much less dramatic in my opinion. Luke gets the job of reminding the readers what is happening by calling Obi-Wan by his full name out of nowhere and needing a refresher of what "the Force" is.

Feeling unappreciated, Han watches Chewie play against Artoo and gets a lot more invested in the droids' health than his movie version:

Also what do you mean, a "wookiee like Chewbacca"?

Luke is training with the "remote" (heh) that look much more virus-y than the cute laser-shooting ball we all know and love.

It isn't going well. Ben also takes some of the recapping duties reminding us about Luke's dad having been a Jedi.

Apparently the artists decided to portray the remote bouncing off the lightsaber instead of Luke deflecting a bolt. Looks funny but why not.

The line "Stretch out with your feelings, in the dark" is from the fourth draft of the script.

Eventually our heroes arrive to find Alderaan is gone!

Luke calling Han by his last name these early comics is funny to me, sorry. I can't think of any other instance of it happening.

Same with Obi-Wan's "Mr. Solo". That's so rude sir, you know he's a captain. Also Han stole Wedge's line from the movie's climax:

(And yes, "sucking Han Solo up like space dust" is a Lucas line.)

Meanwhile, there's drama on the Death Star. Oh, and Vader is there I guess.

Tarkin screaming and Vader's pose are hilarious.

The trooper whose armor Luke wears is still referred to as TX-421 like in the script and novelization. The guy who goes to check on their coms gets wonderfully bitchslapped by a very jacked Chewbacca.

Also Obi-Wan apparently will call Threepio by his (nick)name but Artoo is "the R2 unit". What do you think he is, a charger? At least address him directly :(

In the movie Luke and Han are the only ones in stormtrooper uniforms, this depiction makes the scene more dramatic in my opinion. Also the sound editing (and actually editing in general) feels kinda off during this fight so I'll just go ahead and say I prefer the comic version. Chewie knocking out fascists with his fists is great. The narration is top notch. Also the trooper shot all the way through lmao.

(Sidenote: this page also mentions cell block TX-138, which is TS-138 in the script and simply 1138 in the movie. I guess just like with TK they wanted to make the reference more obvious?)

Everything on the next page seems to be entirely comic invention and I love it! So much added tension.

'Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott have opened up about what they love about each other, and it’s adorable.

Over the last few months, the pair have made massive waves with filmgoers for their hit movie All of Us Strangers, which is written and directed by acclaimed creative Andrew Haigh.

Based on the novel Strangers by Japanese novelist Taichi Yamada, the film follows screenwriter Adam (Scott) as he navigates a new romance with his mysterious neighbour Harry (Mescal).

However, things take a surprising turn when Adam comes across his dead parents (Jamie Bell and Claire Foy), who “appear to be living just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.”

Since its premiere on the film festival circuit and subsequent wide releases, All of Us Strangers has received universal acclaim at various film festivals for its moving story, incredible acting performances and Haigh’s directing.

Alongside the aforementioned praises, the film has garnered attention for the electric chemistry between Mescal and Scott.

While the two dreamy talents have completed filming and are moving on to new projects, their love for each other continues to run deep.

During a recent interview with Elle UK titled “Ask Me Anything,” the two Irish talents opened up about their close bond and what they admire most about one another.

“The thing about Andrew is he’s wonderfully eloquent, but he lives by the things he says, which I think is all and well good sounding smart, but I think you have to live by it, and he does that in spades,” Mescal gushed.

The Fleabag star echoed similar sentiments about the Normal People actor, adding: “When I think about Paul, I think there’s something that’s very forthright about you that’s really wonderful. It’s a really good quality.

“You’re not backwards and coming forwards on things you believe, but some people really are. I think there’s a real difference between somebody being nice and somebody being good… and Paul is a really, really good person, and that’s what I love about him.”

Toward the end of their interview, the two acting talents described each other in three words, with Mescal stating that Scott was “funny, loyal, and quite protective.” At the same time, the Ripley star said the Aftersun actor was “really generous, fun, emotionally intelligent, and wild.”

Scott and Mescal’s recent interview comes a couple of weeks after the latter admitted to British Vogue that it was easy to “fall in love” with the former during filming.

“We knew each other a little bit for sure – I’d say we were friends, and we share lots of friends. But on this we became very close because of the nature of this project,” he explained.

“Not just because of the sex scenes but because of the emotional intimacy that these two characters share. That was just the perfect climate to fall in love with Andrew as a human being. It’s a very easy thing to do.”'

“Every small detail in Stray was a reminder of my finite time with both my on-and off-screen companions; once the game was over, I reached out to Oni (reviewer’s cat), full of gooey feelings, and as expected, he yelled at me and ran off. Chuck Fic Rec List: Updated

So my fic rec post was in my notifs again the other day, and I noticed a while back that the formatting on the post has gotten all messed up and it’s also had like three reblog additions to it anyway meaning there are three versions out there lol. so, I wanted to do another list of chuck fic recs! I’ll keep the other one up still, so I’m not gonna repeat every fic here, just some I really recommend. I’m also adding the fic summaries, which I didn’t on the old post, and some more of my own opinions so, buckle up for a long post!

Chuck Versus the Steampunk Chronicles | Steampunk.Chuckster

1896. A world powered by steam, where humans and machines coexist, and airships are the fashionable mode of transport. A genuinely incredible AU story, with an entire crafted world and universe, so detailed it frequently blows my mind. There is heart and family and infuriatingly brilliant slow-burn, plus a buttload of danger and super fun historical/steampunk action. Oh how I LOVE it.

Chuck vs the Charade | somedeepmystery

When computer nerd Chuck Bartowski returns home to an empty apartment and a dead girlfriend he finds himself embroiled in a deadly game of espionage and deceit. Everyone around him is playing a part to get what they want and when he starts falling for the new woman in his life, he can't help but wonder if he can trust her or if she's the one he should fear the most.

An action and twist-filled AU based on the movie Charade, which is just such a brilliant fic concept I absolutely adored it from the start.

Two Sides of the Same Coin | dettiot

When you're a spy, there's all kinds of occupational hazards when you work with another spy. For Sarah Walker, though, one mission becomes a life-changing experience. Because working with Charles Carmichael leads to protecting Chuck Bartowski.

The first time I read this fic my mind was just blown to its genius. Such a brilliant interpretation of what the Intersect and its concepts set up in the show could be, and ooooof the Chuck/Sarah interactions, my HEART. Related to it, its companion piece:

I said it on the OG post, but this story has one of my top 5 Chuck/Sarah fic meetings. So funny, so... very Chuck. The story is a little angsty overall, but a great read.

Chuck vs the Rogue Spy | Crumby

When a rogue spy from Chuck Bartowski's past shows up to help him during his first solo mission, Chuck hopes that he'll finally find out what happened to Sarah Walker. Post-S2 AU.

There’s a lot of Season 3 fix-it fics out there, which I don’t usually read bc I actually love season 3 lol, but this one’s a good one! A twisty deviation from canon, but still feels really true to character.

Chuck Versus the Nerds Rewrite | Steampunk.Chuckster and David Carner

What happens when two nerds talk endless hours about their favorite TV show? A new take on the show you know, but with the flair, twists, and turns you've come to expect from Steampunk . Chuckster and david . carner. Somewhat canon. Charah.

As the summary says, a different take on the show, which honestly makes a couple changes I would too, but also adds a bunch of fun twists and plots that make it totally new and fresh. Seeing Chuck and Sarah’s thoughts in the more canon sections is just delicious, too.

The Trapped Assassin | SarahsSupplyCloset

After a mission goes awry, the CIA's most lethal assassin is ordered to take vacation while her superiors figure out what to do with her. But when she meets a disarming tourist, their immediate connection only adds to her disillusionment with the agency and her career. Will he be enough for her to finally take the plunge and leave the only life she's ever known? Charah AU

A warning for the very justified M rating if you don’t like that sort of thing, but this is definitely a plot-heavy fic, too. A really neat Sarah-heavy AU, with a whole lotta Chuck/Sarah fancy French vacationy goodness.

Chuck vs the Second Chance | malamoo

AU from mid-season 2 and onwards. Chuck and Sarah part ways only to be reunited years later. COMPLETE.

Literal, crying-at-my-screen angst. Not even a super happy ending. But a brilliantly written, part-reflective/flashback fic, exploring what would’ve happened if Chuck and Sarah’s relationship really was an assignment all along-- and the aftermath. It’s heartbreaking. But if you want a little heartbreak, this is your fic.

Ready at Your Hand | dettiot

In the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, a Catholic plot against the queen comes to the attention of spymaster Sir Francis Walsingham. To protect Elizabeth, he develops an unusual plan: hide the passing of intelligence between two agents by a false romance. When Lady Sarah Walker and Chuck Carmichael meet, though, their pretend flirtation becomes much more.

I love Chuck fic for the very reason that it’s inspired such adventurous and totally unique AUs. Here’s some Elizabethan fake-dating Chuck and Sarah! They have to be so Proper, it’s like that hand moment from Pride and Prejudice but Elizabethan and times a billion. The pining!!

Sarah Versus Getting Married | Steampunk.Chuckster

Sarah Walker is getting married. Canon. Charah.

I’d recommend all of SC’s fics if I had the room, and I’m already recommending a ton sksks but most of my fic recs are AUs, and this one isn’t! It’s canon, and covers some of in the gap in 4x24, with Sarah just before the wedding itself. Super sweet, heart-tugging, brilliant.

A Chuckmas Carol | Mikki13

A new twist to Dickens' beloved "A Christmas Carol". When Sarah begins to shut out the world around her, three spirits come to show her the error of her ways. Season 3 AU.

Another Season 3 AU, this one written pre-series so it definitely doesn’t fit to canon, but it’s still wonderfully rich in character depth and angst and it also made me cry. Plus, festive!

Chuck Versus Thin Ice | Steampunk.Chuckster

On the doorstep of the Olympics, top American curler Sarah Walker has lost her mixed doubles partner and her boyfriend in one fell swoop. Her coaches throw newbie Team U.S.A. curler Chuck Bartowski onto her team and thrust them into the Olympics, hanging America's curling hopes on two people who only have a short amount of time to learn to trust one another. Charah AU.

Do you like curling? Or the Winter Olympics? It doesn’t really matter because somehow this fic made me extremely invested in both of those things, as well as Chuck and Sarah and them being INSUFFERABLE. Catch me now knowing a ton about curling thanks to this fic.

Walker’s Eleven | Moonlight Pilot

Not the same plot as the movie. Sarah Walker never got out of the con game or became a spy, and now she's on her final con. What happens when true love and betrayal get added to the mix? Twists, turns, and Jeffster!

Con!Sarah always interests me, and this fic is full of her. Lotta con plot, lotta Chuck and Sarah.

The Detective and the Tech Guy | thecharleses

Sarah Walker is a Pinkerton detective. Chuck Bartowski is an electronics genius. They wouldn't have met except for a case of mistaken identity and murder. Will the detective and the tech guy solve the mystery, distracted by the riddle in their own hearts? An homage to The Thin Man film series. Formerly co-written by Steampunk . Everyone in this fic is so damn cool. There are so many martinis. But also great heart and family and like, standing up for who you love, and later also Chuck with Baby Clara content which frankly the show robbed us of. Also, PI!Sarah!!!

I’m particularly in love with this fic because, instead of beginning with a meet-cute, it involves Chuck and Sarah already two years into a friendship-- Sarah is Ellie’s best friend. And she’s been crushing harrrd on Ellie’s brother. Also Chuck is in a tux. It’s pretty.

Set, Spike, Dive! | Frea O’Scanlin

Chuck never expected to even make it to the Olympics. Everything is working against him: he's too tall for a diver, too inexperienced for a medal, too much of a wildcard to really make his mark. But an unexpected meeting at the airport, some intriguing new friends, and a whirlwind romance on the sand just might set up London 2012 as the time of Chuck Bartowski's life.

A London 2012 AU, because why not. This is just a fun Olympic-y ride!

OTP (One True Pairing) Prompts | David Carner

A series of Prompts I found online about different times and places in Chuck and Sarah's life. Mostly AU, mostly one-shots. I assume mostly fluff, but I might get deep. I doubt it, it's me. Charah...ALWAYS (It says complete, but if an idea strikes me...)

If you’re not so into long stories, this fic is perfect. Individual set-ups and stories, all Chuck and Sarah, and all super cute. You could dip in and out and just pick a scenario you enjoy.

Chuck vs The Frontier | ninjaVanish

AU: Chuck was enjoying a simple life as a 19th century watchmaker until an encounter with a beautiful Secret Service agent thrust him into a world of intrigue and adventure he never wanted. But then, with Agent Walker around, it can't be all bad, can it?

This fic gets props for being historically-set but still including the Intersect. Again, a historical AU, so the pining!! the need to be Proper!!! But besides all that, there’s a lot of action fun as well.

Chuck Versus The Crosswalk: Remastered | WvonB

Will a last minute mission help our two favorite characters finally get together? This is the remastered version of my first story.

The original version of this fic is on my first list; this is the updated version! It’s not a complete AU, instead a story that diverges from canon, so if you’re more into canon characters and setting than a new AU scenario, this is a great fic for that.

Just Two People | David Carner

Meet Sarah Walker PhD, Psychologist, specializing in personality traits. Meet Chuck Bartowski, man who has left THE electronic company of 2020. When Burton Consultants tries to figure out what is wrong with the morale of Orion Industries, what happens when a guy named Chuck meets a woman named Sarah. I'll give you a hint, it's me writing.

David’s done something pretty special with this fic. It’s Chuck and Sarah centric, but very much an ensemble piece, too, with a lot of Team Bartowski and other familiar faces throughout.

Chuck Versus the Con Game | Steampunk.Chuckster

AU. Chuck and Sarah are partners in the con game. It's an existence wrought with danger and violence. Every day could be their last. Every mission could be the end of the line.

This is where I freak out SC and declare this fic the reason I ever got hooked on Chuck fic and then wrote Chuck fic, and the reason I still love it today but. that is true lol. Just so. so good. It’s also written with the chapters out of chronological order, which is super fun from a reading perspective. But con!Sarah AND con!Chuck?? Best. The kind of fic you will be thinking about for days (if not, y’know, years).

As you can tell by the repeats, I highly recommend just about anything by Steampunk.Chuckster, dettiot, or David Carner, but there are a TON of amazing Chuck fics and authors out there. I’ve never known a writing community so wildly creative-- there are so many unique AUs and canon explorations and story concepts that this show has manifested, and it’s all so much fun.

Most of the Chuck fic community is still over on FFN rather than AO3, so if any of these whet your appetite, feel free to have a browse there for more stories. I’m sure you’ll find something great. Personally, all the incredible writing there has also led me to write a buttload; I’m at halfachance on FFN, so if you see any of my stuff or wanna chat fic, feel free to message me there or here.

Ranked: Mother of the Year (Choices) Main Characters

I can’t sleep so that means I need to make another list that I’m not going to proofread before I post, right? Of course it does. But before we start, please remember this is my opinion on who I liked best. Not who impacted the story the most, not who was the best written fictional character of all time, yada yada. This is my personal opinion of the characters I liked best.

Spoilers WILL be featured below. You have been warned.

#13 -- Tallulah Copeland

Tallulah is a parent to a child at Bernhardt Academy, a friend of Vanessa Blackwood, and an active member of the PTA. Hugo is her partner.

This woman. I would flat forget this woman existed until she would show up again just to wreak havoc on MC’s day, usually at someone else’s urging. Every single time she spoke, I just wanted it to be over and she is just an awful, AWFUL person. She’s also the only awful person in this book who never pretends to be nice and/or never apologizes for her actions. Just an all around nasty person.

#12 -- Hugo

Hugo is a parent of a child at Bernhardt Academy and an active member of the PTA. Tallulah is his significant other.

If you’re actually reading these little blurbs, you have to be wondering “MagnoliaPip? How in the hell is Hugo ranked lower than two other unmentionables in this story?”

Thank you for asking, no one ever.

Put frankly, Hugo just annoyed the crap out of me. I know that’s supposed to be part of his character, but it went above and beyond the scope of acceptable annoyance. I grew to hate every second he was speaking. He never really contributed anything to the plot other than some irritating drivel. He wasn’t an antagonist, but he also wasn’t a pleasing good guy. He’s also the reason I’m considering not re-reading this book again right away like I want to.

#11 -- Guy Ledford

This man. This. Man. THIS MAN!

This part is going to include major spoilers, y’all, so if you haven’t read it and are still intending to, skip away now!! Again, major spoilers from here on out kids.

Guy Ledford is your main character’s ex-husband who has been absent for four years since the start of the book and wants to reconnect with his daughter. He is also a CEO of a snack food company/app, Nomme. He is the main antagonist of the book.

The reason I didn’t rank him lower is he genuinely adds something to the plot. He IS the plot. He’s the reason this book exists. However, he is such a scumbag he deserves nothing. He feels like a trope for quite a lot of the time, but at least he’s not physically abusive like a true trope could have been (at least, I never noticed him being physically abusive). Just, you know, a gaslighting, manipulative, arrogant, rude, selfish son of a-

I also love that they named him “Guy”. I’ve only ever met one man named this in my life, so it’s funny to me that they named this jerk “Guy” so it’s not only the most generic sounding name (did his parents also get a dog named “Dog” and a cat named “Kitty”?), but also one that a lot of men won’t likely have so they don’t have to get name checked in relation to him.

I like that you can get a good outcome (Guy ends up with joint custody with visitations  every weekend and having to back pay) without spending diamonds in this game as long as you make the right choices, but for those who DID spend all of the diamonds, I would have liked to have seen Guy end up with worse. I would have liked to see, if you made most of the right choices and bought all of the diamond stuff, him ending up with every other weekend or maybe just visitation. I know he’s trying to be a good dad (but still an absolutely terrible human being), but every weekend seems like so much when your daughter is in school.

#10 -- Augustus Blackwood

August Blackwood is one of Vanessa Blackwood’s sons and is a student at Bernhardt Academy.

I’m not going to spend a lot of time on this one. But he hurt my daughter and that’s enough. I would have liked to have seen him fleshed out a little bit more beyond being basically just a schoolyard bully. His motivations for his actions are hinted on, but nothing is really ever done and he’s mostly just a prop for something to hurt your daughter.

#9 -- Vanessa Blackwood

Vanessa Blackwood is the president of the PTA, a single mom, and a lawyer and becomes an antagonist to your character.

I’m probably going to get hate for this, but I want to like Vanessa. Obviously, she’s hateful and offensive, in some very, very unredeemable ways, but there’s something about characters like that which makes me want to forgive them and teach them how to be better. How to rehabilitate their bitterness. I felt it with Olivia Nevrakis, I felt it with Victoria Fontaine, and I know certain people in the fandom felt it with Becca Davenport and Poppy Min-Sinclair. 

**DISCLAIMER** Keep in mind, I’m not trying to excuse homophobia and racism here. They are both despicable things and should be accounted for. However, after having grown up in a homophobic and racist home and learning to leave that shit in the dust by the time I was eighteen and SLOWLY teaching my family to do the same over the course of the last 10 years, I believe people can change if you give them room and help to. Not everyone will, not many people will, but I believe in giving the chance. We need to force people to take responsibility and learn from their mistakes. Should the book have been approved as a series rather than a stand alone, I think this might have been a very real option within book 2.

#8 -- Ajax “AJ” Blackwood

Ajax Blackwood is one of Vanessa Blackwood’s sons and a student at Bernhardt Academy.

AJ is the quieter of the Blackwood boys, AJ is a shy kid who hates that his brother is mean just as much as your daughter does. He finally has enough within the book and stands up to him, which was more than a little satisfying and he does seem to have a genuinely good heart. I think it would be so cute for him, your daughter, and Luz to be their own adorable trio of friends. 

#7 -- Levi Schuler

Levi Schuler is your neighbor who helps save the day for MC early on in the book and becomes a friend to both her and your daughter. He is also one of your love interests.

And if this list is going to invoke hate from the masses, it will be this entry that does it. I know how loved Levi is. And I love him too! I just find him, and his musician plot, to be a bit tiring. He’s a wonderfully supportive friend/love interest, just about one of the nicest people, and he’s great with your daughter. I swear, all of the love interests in this book would be god tier in any book. It’s truly unfair to the others that we got three amazing ones here along with a great cast of characters. However, since that did happen, Levi will sit here at #7. He can have a consolatory rugelach while I continue on.

#6 -- Faye Devore

Faye Devore is your ex-husband’s new girlfriend, a younger social media influencer.

I loved Faye. Right from the start, I loved Faye. I prayed they weren’t going to make this into one of those books where we were supposed to hate the “other woman” because those plots are old, outdated, and overused. Thankfully, MOTY lets us skirt right around it and we end up with a wonderful character like Faye, who is the human definition of having the best intentions.

She gets on well with your daughter, even pointing out to MC at one point that she thinks of her like a little sister, and goes above and beyond to make her happy. She is genuinely upset about going against MC’s wishes about your daughter appearing on social media and doesn’t appear to want to cause any harm or hard feelings with MC at any point during the book. In fact, she wants to be friends. 

I would have loved for this and for it to be fleshed out more, again, if we had ever gotten a book 2. I’m also that jerk who would have totally romanced her in a replay and would have emptied my wallet to get a scene in that hypothetical book 2 where Guy finds out. Take that homophobe!

#5 -- Dr. Eiko Matsunaga

Dr. Eiko Matsunaga is a science teacher who teaches at the private school your daughter goes to and becomes friendly with MC because of your daughter. She is also one of your love interests.

If I would have had a teacher like Dr. Matsunaga when I was in school, maybe I would have cared about science at any point during my childhood. Eiko is so incredibly smart but has a heart of gold. She could be off teaching at colleges or writing published journals, but she’s teaching elementary science at a private school and honestly enjoying herself! She wants to see children succeed and will give any child who wants to do so, like your daughter, all of the help they need.

I want to romance her. I want to be her friend. I want it all because I’m selfish even when I don’t because I could never possibly be worthy of the supremacy that is Eiko. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

#4 -- Your Daughter / Zoey

Your daughter is 9 years old at the start of the book and desperately wants to be an astronaut. She is a science whiz and moves from public school to Bernhardt Academy at the beginning of the book to kickstart her education.

It makes me so sad that I will never actually have this child. “Zoey” is just so smart and funny and sweet and I love her so much. I spent so many diamonds on her. She’s a pixelated little bundle of amazing and I would die for her. That’s it.

#3 -- Alma Velasco

Alma Velasco is your neighbor, best friend, and (for part of the time) co-worker.

What did our character do to deserve such an amazing ride-or-die friend like Alma? She never disbelieves MC, is forever supportive as a shoulder to cry on and a supplier of good wine, and also helps MC out of more than one pinch. Seriously an amazing friend, and I wish we could have done something equally amazing for her to reciprocate.

#2 -- Thomas Mendez

Thomas Mendez is a lawyer and a single dad who becomes friends with MC very early on in the book. He is also one of your three love interests.

A big reason for why Thomas is at #2 is because of who #1 is but we’ll get there in a second.

There’s also something about Thomas that speaks to me as a person. It’s more than just being interested as a love interest or as a friend. There’s something about who he is. His awkwardness, his humor, his kindness and his generosity all make him someone I envy as much as I admire.

He takes on MC’s case pro bono when he doesn’t have to. He shrugs it off like it’s no big deal, but stepping back and looking at the it, by all accounts he was walking into a handily losing situation. He was also super busy at this time being a single parent himself and working on his class action lawsuit. That’s not even saying anything about him still grieving for Soledad.

However, the biggest reason I love Mr. Mendez is...

#1 -- Luz Mendez

Luz Mendez is a student at Bernhardt Academy who becomes best friends with your daughter early in the book. She is a soccer and art fan.

This little girl is the best thing I have ever read in my entire life. She made the entire book. Every character that came before her pales in comparison to her majesty. She is a goddamn queen and deserves everything.

Every scene with her is gold and I wish we had more. This little girl was completely willing to curb stomp someone with her cleats at the courthouse if something would have happened to your daughter. She is so aggressively herself and it is a joy to see. The relationship between her and her father is what really kept me going through the book’s more difficult spots. There is such true love and acceptance there, as well as the drive and desire to do better for the other than I just...There is really no way for me to properly explain the perfection that is Luz Mendez so I guess you’ll just have to read it yourself.

I’m not sure why it took me so long to start reading Mother of the Year (MOTY), but I’m so glad I did. In 3 days flat I binged the entire book, wasted so many accumulated diamonds, and had the time of my life. The cast of characters in MOTY is perfect and I wanted to rank them according to my opinion on which ones were the best. I ranked all of the characters I found to be profound enough to matter to the storyline or that MC or “Daughter” had enough interactions with to matter. As a result, there are several characters who didn’t make this list.

I’m going to assume you mean headcanons so how bout I just,,,,,,,,slide some on in. This is all from my Four Years AU btw.

Eda used to joke that “if you don’t like my kid then we can’t be together that’s the rule” when someone is trying to flirt with her but like....that’s literally The Rule. There are many rules but that is the One Rule that sticks. You don’t like Luz? Luz doesn’t like you? BEGONE. This goes wonderfully for her when she meets Camilia.

Eda does that Irresponsible Funny Parent thing of getting some alcoholic beverage and daring Luz to take a sip of it. Luz does take a sip bc she curious but immediately gets the disgusted I Just Ate Lemon face and Eda is wheezing. Then King jumps up and downs the whole thing.

Luz has trouble with homework bc there is So Many Covens so she asks Eda for help. Eda is like the dad who is wondering why the hell they would change math but its about the coven magic. She knew how to do it Her Way and how she learned through the secret passages. But she knows the teacher won’t accept Her Way so she’s struggling over this homework debating if it would be easier to just feed it to Hooty.

Eda doesn’t try to play matchmaker often bc this is Prime entertainment but she’d be damned if she left her kid high and dry. Eda offers some advice and sometimes they’re not too bad but most of the time they’re batshit insane. Luz appreciates that she’s trying to help but she knows damn well only a desperate woman would take her advice. eyes Amity.

She may have adopted this gaggle of kids but she gets along decently with Willow and Gus’s parents. She’s iff-y about Willow’s bearded dad (Dana blease give me their names) because he was the one who insisted the most on her joining the abomination track but aside from the occasional comment she’s chill with him, even if he’s a bit gruff. Her other dad is a nerd and Eda relishes in taunting him. Gus is only raised by his dad and his dad is just as much as a geek as him with humans, but is also obsessed with knowing all the facts. The four of them sometimes hang out and it’s disastrous. The dads are all trying to contain Eda who Cannot Be Stopped, Green Dad & Perry are being nerds, Beard Dad is intimidating everyone, Eda is desperately trying to not let slip the dangerous things she lets happen to their kids, they all diss on the Blight parents, it’s fantastic.

Luz flops in Eda’s nest when she’s having a bad night, extra tired, or during/after an episode. It’s gotten to the point where Eda barely reacts to it. She just scooches over as Luz rolls in and then it’s cuddle time. Sometimes Luz will lay in her nest in the morning and they just snuggle until they’re both ready to get up or one of the annoying roommates makes Eda get up bc she is the only one who has authority in this house.

Took Eda a long ass time to get used to the mom thing. She jokes about it but the first time Luz called her mom she ascended into the seventh dimension, got thrown around like a ragdoll, and was staring at the ceiling for hours contemplating her existence. She has a minor panic attack & crisis the next few times Luz slips n calls her mom. They both get more used to it and Eda is Very Proud each time but then it just divulges into Luz: mom. mom. mom. mom. mom. mom. mom- Eda: What Luz: I love you :D Eda: Eda: What did you do

Luz remembers some old recipes her mama would make back at home and is being Sad about it once and tells Eda abt it so then they set aside the day to try and make Mangú. Which is difficult bc the Boiling Isles doesn’t have all those items needed and also Eda is going off the memory of a fifteen-year-old but they make it. It doesn’t look or taste very similar to the way Camilia would make them but Luz still likes it and is grateful and Eda decides she did good.

Pairings - Crowley x Aziraphale

Warnings- Angst and some bad language here and there

Summary  - Once upon a time, there was an angel and a demon and they went  through a 6,000 year strangers to friends to lovers slow burn. This is  the untold story of the in-between bits, or better yet - what happened  before armageddon was even a concern?

The next few months ran together in a wonderfully colored blur. The angel couldn’t help but fall in love with being able to practically raise Moses with Crowley by his side. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, Crowley wasn’t like how he thought he’d be at all. He was gentle, funny, caring, really good with kids, and one of the most kind-hearted people he’d ever met. Dare he say, everything was going really well, but that’s always when the darkness likes to creep in. Slowly snuffing out the light without you noticing, so by the time you do-you’re surrounded by darkness.

Unfortunately, this angel and demon were far too drunk to even notice the light slowly dimming on that night. “Oh my dear,” the angel's laughter echoed throughout the entire room of their little house. They didn’t have the pleasure of living at the palace as Crowley did. But, the angel was surrounded by the almighty’s people in the small city by the palace, it was quiet (most of the time), and he even somehow managed to run a small library. He often found himself telling the kids in the town nightly bedtime stories around a campfire. He really was a big old softie.

 Most nights they’d meet at the angel’s place to talk about the boy, the ineffable plan, and mostly to get drunk. Tonight was no exception. “, as beautiful as you are I don’t think you’d stand a chance of being a tutor! You’re better off being worshiped as a god!” the wine loosened up the angel's tongue quite a bit on nights like these, and honestly they didn’t mind.  

Crowley let out a chuckle flopping down on the angel's bed and he let his thin long fingers draw patterns absentmindedly along Azriaphale's thigh. “That may be true, but think of all the things I could teach him! The stars and galaxies for one. I could tell him all about the ones I helped make.” he nodded his head as if he was confirming the memory in his head. It was so long ago, and he never ever wanted to forget. His eyes sparkled with a certain shimmer that only joyous memories could create. Although, he quickly reminded himself of what he was now and would always be. “Oh, you’re probably right, the humans have decorated me in far too much gold anyways, it would look odd if I went out looking as adorable as you do.” he smiled to himself lazily flicking his eyes over to his angel who looked delectable in the moonlight shining through the makeshift windows.   

With a soft and gentle hum, Aziraphale plopped down right beside Crowley on the bed with a sleepy smile on their lips. Even without the wine, Crowley would still be the most beautiful creature he’s ever seen. “Although I wouldn’t mind your necklace though, that small one here,” He whispered gently taking the small pendant in between his fingers, funnily enough, it looked like a golden snake wrapped around a feather. He had no idea he had taste for such simple things. It made him wonder what other things he had a taste for.  

Now if Crowley were to tell the angel the truth he’d tell him how that was his favorite piece of jewelry he owned. That every time he glanced in the mirror and saw it sparkling proudly in the light, he couldn’t help but smile. That pendant was the only reminder that maybe he was a good person, that there was still someone out there who cared for him. Aziraphale wasn’t just a work acquaintance, he was his best friend, his partner in crime, and the only immovable thing in his life that didn’t constantly remind him of how much he hated himself.

 It was as if time had stopped in that moment, and the two beings were stopped in stunned gentle silence. “You can have it, in fact here.” Crowley got out before anything could be taken back, because honestly he was terrified this was all some sort of dream. Gently he took the pendant off, inching even closer to Aziraphale and wrapping his arms around his neck. Keeping his wide eyes on the angel's sky-blue ones he clasped the necklace shut. Although he didn’t dare move from where he was, he couldn’t even if he wanted to.  “I could never take something so precious from you.” Aziraphale shook their head feeling their shyness take the lead. “You can have anything you want, angel.” How beautifully true that statement was. If Aziraphale asked he’d give up everything just to be with him and only him. Crowley opened his mouth to say more, something, maybe to say everything that he has been feeling for the past hundred years. But, he closed it, his inner thoughts getting the best of him yet again. With a soft defeated sigh, he moved back to where he was originally. 

Now Aziraphale prided himself on sensing love, being a being of love himself it came rather easy to him. But, why was he ignoring the rapid flashes he was feeling right now? They crept up inside of him like the soft licks of a campfire. A soothing type of warmth you can only associate with the kindest and most wonderful thing. What the angel didn’t understand is why were the flashes of love coming from Crowley of all people.

“Crowley?” he piped back up turning on his back, after a moment or two of comfortable silence.” Yeah?” the demon replied shutting his eyes picturing the stars and galaxies he’d take Aziraphale to if he was brave enough. He stared up at their little wooden ceiling trying to imagine everything that could be instead of everything that was. It was hard, but they got there in no time.”, you ever wonder what would have happened if I fell instead of you? Or if you didn’t fall at all?” they asked so softly you could barely hear them even if you tried. However, he never got the chance to answer the question as two voices rang through the streets of the city “MOSES WAIT!” The angel sat straight up in bed his heart already racing. Moses can’t be out here, he’s supposed to be back at the palace getting ready for bed with his brother.  

Without thinking he slipped back on their sandals and ran out into the night and sure enough, he saw Moses running towards the palace in tears. His heart broke for the child, the one they helped save is now hurting once more. “Crowley, it is Moses! His real sister and brother have found him, and I think they told him everything. I have to go check on him, I’ll be back soon alright?” He sighed giving him a soft kiss on the head before running after the boy. “Angel I-” Crowley reached out for him but failed to catch him. Damned angels with their big hearts. Shakily he brought a hand up to his forehead and smiled softly. Did his angel just…kiss him, and did he like it? Something exciting fluttered in the demon's heart. Something he hadn’t felt since before the fall. Two questions rang out in his head as he watched the angel run away. ‘Was this mutual?’ and ‘Why the hell was he not chasing after him?’ 

 As Aziraphale ran memories of the night at the river flashed before him at unknowing speeds. However, he pushed passed them, Moses was in trouble and he wanted to help. He was an angel, it's what they did. Once he got back to the palace, he followed the boy into the construction site where slaves were building more unnecessary pyramids for the pharaoh. It took everything in the angel not to roll his eyes right then and there, sometimes he swore they were more dramatic than the almighty was.  

“You! Slave! Get back to work!” one of the Egyptians growled at him causing him to stumble backward a couple of steps. His eyebrows furrowed together, surely they didn’t mean him right? He’s done absolutely wrong, they must be mistaken. A trembling smile came to his lips as he tried to correct him. “I’m looking for prince Moses, I’m his teacher- I saw him running this way and I-”

“Did I say you could speak??” They growled right back causing the poor angel to start trembling in fear. It was then he realized they were uncoiling a whip in their hands and a flash of pure terror rippled through him. “W-what are you doing? I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong! It would be completely wrong to harm me I-” He tried his very best to explain, to get out any kind of protest, but he was cut off by a loud ‘CRACK’. Sudden violent flashes of pain ripped through his body, but he kept himself as strong as he possibly could. “P-please I don’t understan-” ‘CRACK’ this time the angel let out a yelp as two sharp flicks of the whip dragged across his skin.  It was clear now that no matter how hard he protested this man wouldn’t listen. With his knees turning to jelly he crumbled to the ground clutching his now crimson-stained robe to his chest praying to whoever would listen to at least make the pain go away. Tears prickled in his eyes as another few lashes of the whip were set down upon his skin. At this point, he was seeing white, and he wasn’t sure how much more he could possibly take. It was only seconds until he passed out, his head already spinning round and round. Until suddenly, it all stopped. Was this what it was like? Was this what it felt like to discorporate? Well…fuck.  

Sudden giant wings as dark as the midnight sky viciously swooped in shielding the angel's body. “Who did this?” the demon demanded his voice barely sounded like his own anymore as his wings took out every form of light surrounding them. Leaving the guard to tremble in terror. Crowley’s body was submerged in darkness, but his snake eyes were glowing with the power of hellfire itself. Someone hurt his angel and the rage he felt bubbling inside of him could easily take out entire civilizations. “It was you wasn’t it, puny human.” the demon growled stalking closer to him like a lion sizing up his prey. Wicked sharp nails raised to the guard's throat as he stared him down practically making him burst into flames then and there. “P-please I didn’t know, please be merciful great god Crawley.” the pitiful human mustered out falling to his knees in a pathetic excuse to bow down to him.

 A wicked cackle fell off of Crowley’s lips as looked down at him as if he was the vilest thing in existence, and at that time he was. He hurt the most precious thing in existence to him, and for that, he needs to pay. “Like you showed him mercy? How dare you insult me like this I-” everything stopped, the one voice that could snap him out of anything broke through the clouds. “C-Crowley?” his angel coughed out.  

“Angel! Angel, I’m here it’s alright!” Crowley's voice broke through the ringing in Aziraphale's ears and he collapsed into his arms. At this point, the angel was far too weak to even open his eyes. But, he knew it was him, and he was more than comforted by the fact that he came to his rescue. Shaky, vengeful arms wrapped around him as Crowley scooped him up carrying him to his chambers. There were already whispers of the prince who killed a fellow Egyptian, and he knew his angel would find out soon enough. But, he just wanted to climb one mountain at a time. Someone hurt his angel, and he wanted them to pay for it. However, right now he’d settle for making sure Aziraphale was okay. That’s all that mattered in his eyes, the world could be burning to bits and the only person he’d bother saving would be Aziraphale. To hell with everyone else. 

Quiet painful whimpers fell out of his lips as Crowley gently set him down on his bed. Crowley’s snake eyes were wide as he hurriedly searched through his chambers trying to find anything to help his angel feel better. “Crowley…darling?” he whimpered reaching out for him. For the demon that saved his life, now at least they were even. Crowley was quick to run to his side gripping his hand in between his. He held Aziraphale’s hand as if it was the most delicate piece of glass in the universe. Laying soft kisses to his knuckles he watched as Aziraphale opened his eyes as best he could. “I’m right here angel, you’re going to be okay…I’m making it better.” With a soft snap of Crowley's fingers, a bowl of warm water and a washcloth appeared.   

“Crowley I-” the angel groaned as a fresh wave of pain rippled through his body. Crowley bit his lip as he cupped the angel’s cheek gently. “Shush, don’t speak just….let me take care of you alright?” he whispered out gently as he slowly got behind him dipping the rag in the water. Hesitantly he worked carefully at cleaning Aziraphale’s wounds, trying his best not to focus on the shudders from the angel in front of him. Every shudder, every whimper, and yelp of pain that came from his angel broke his heart over and over again. What was worst was he blamed himself. Aziraphale got hurt by one of the people Crowley was in charge of, the people he tempted. If this is what demons do, then maybe he didn’t want to be this anymore. 

“There all done,” he shakily whispered out snapping the washcloth and bowl with crimson-stained water away “, and now….” Crowley stood up straighter sitting on his heels. Right now he wasn’t thinking what heaven or hell would think, all he wanted was for his angel to be alright. That’s all he’d ever care about, Aziraphale was in pain and he wanted-no needed to fix it. No matter if it risked him getting in trouble or not. Gently he waved his hands over Aziraphales back and a soft glow appeared, slowly his wounds began to heal. Leaving scars as beautiful as the finest gold behind. A demon was healing an angel with his love, and instead of leaving a mess, it left a beautiful piece of artwork. Almost like someone was showing the two beings that you could create beauty from even the most broken things.

“Did you just…save an angel?” Aziraphale murmured with a soft smile on his face as he tried his best to be the angel everyone was used to. Crowley let out a small chuckle as his fingers brushed against his angel's cheeks, that moment more beautiful than anything the two have ever witnessed. The throbbing pain coming from Aziraphales's back was nothing compared to the thumping in his heart. “Perhaps I did, but let’s not shout it to the world eh?” he chuckled before turning bright red as the angel buried himself in Crowley’s chest.

Gently, Crowley wrapped his arms around the angel holding him close to his chest as Aziraphale let out a few heart-shattering sobs. Aziraphale's body trembled in Crowley’s arms as his mind forced him to relive the events that just happened. “I-I just wanted to help-I love them all so much and they-I-” Aziraphale stuttered shaking his head trying to bury it deeper in his chest. He wanted to silence all the other voices that told him he was a terrible angel, that he wasn’t doing his job correctly, that at the end of it all it wouldn’t be worth it. The only time he ever got any peace was around Crowley. For tonight he’d take refuge in his demon's arms, and Crowley was more than fine with that.

 “Shush, none of that, the humans don’t know how lucky they are to have you in their lives,”  and neither do I sometimes the demon thought smiling softly to himself as the angel relaxed in his arms a bit more. At that moment everything felt okay again, and Crowley would do anything to make sure it never ended.

When you think back, do you remember what made you ship Convin in the first place? And can you tell me a bit more about the relationship you headcanon for them? (@connor-sent-by-cyberlife)

Gosh, okay, this is such a loaded question for me, lol! Because I love them so much. It’s gonna be hard to try and distill that into one post. But I’ll try my best! XD

So, right off the bat, there are the canon characters. And, while I find canon!Gavin pretty awful and think a relationship between him and canon!Connor would be a bad idea, there’s still a very real tension between them. It’s not rooted in anything positive, for sure, but there is a lot of passion behind it. They both fill the classic enemies/rivals roles for each other and, well... I’m a really big fan of the enemies (to friends) to lovers trope. So right off the bat, they’ve already kinda sparked my interest, yeah? There’s something there, something not fully formed, but dang, it has a lot of potential! Which is where fanon comes in. I think it’ll come as a surprise to absolutely no one that I absolutely adore a fanon Gavin Reed. A more nuanced take on him where he’s not just a racist caricature and is instead a real, human person with thoughts and feelings and motivations. And, while I don’t really remember my actual introduction to fanon!Gavin, one of the earliest things I read that I remember really sticking with me was the amazing fic, Mind-Blowing, by  Redd000. That fic had such a wonderful iteration of a Gavin who not only had a very complicated backstory and a lot of interesting interpersonal relationships, but also a dynamic character arc that brought him from the canon douchebag we all know and hate to a more empathetic character who could learn and grow and admit that maybe he was wrong. Another very early fic I read that made me really fall in love with fanon!Gavin was A Scratched CD by consecrated. It was one of the first Convin fics I ever remember reading and just... really falling in love with. And it really went a long way toward making me just adore the potential relationship between the two of them.  Now, this was still back in the early days when I was still giving other ships a try and seeing what I liked and didn’t, but between already having a sort of bias for the enemies to lovers dynamic and now seeing the absolute goldmine of potential that a relationship between them could deliver on, I was kinda sold. And I think maybe the final nail in that coffin was the esteemed Traces by berryblonde. It was... such a memorable fic for me. The twists and turns of it were amazing. The backstory the author built up. The slow paradigm shifts happening throughout. The case and the way all the players fit together. It was just... It was and is still one of my favorite fics on the Archive. Highly recommend to anyone looking for not just a good Convin fic, but a great casefic/mystery/drama in general.  But the thing all of these had in common was just such a wonderfully built Gavin Reed. Seriously, I was quickly at the point where I couldn’t even read him as a villain anymore, it just seemed so strange to me. Because all of these fics painted such a nuanced, complicated man. One capable admitting he was wrong and doing his best to right his wrongs. Whether platonic or romantic, it was his interactions with Connor that always drove him forward towards becoming a better man. And, as a flawed human being myself, there is something so appealing about that. Of seeing a redemption arc play out like this again and again, of seeing that second chances can be had, that even the worst people can turn themselves around and get back on the right path. It was so... affirming. And it all just kinda tied things together in my mind, too. That Connor was this catalyst, this reagent that burst into Gavin’s cozy worldview and shook him up enough to have to reevaluate himself in the upheaval.  But what’s more than that, I also think Gavin is a great catalyst for Connor’s character growth, too. Because, much like Hank, Gavin is someone who’s character growth and dynamic shift would be such a positive influence on someone like Connor. Connor, who spent so much of his short time alive being the villain. Doing bad things for bad people. Doing his best to shut down a movement that ultimately granted him and all his people freedom. I feel like Connor wouldn’t be a stranger to regret, to that urgent desire to change, and to the fallout left in the wake of that. I think, ultimately, Connor and Gavin’s arcs would almost mirror each other. That there’s a lot both of them could take away from the other in regards to forgiveness and maturing as people and second chances to do what’s right. I think Connor needs to let go of his hatred of his machine self just as much as Gavin does. And there’s something in that symmetry that just... It speaks to such a deep understanding between them. A shared experience between a human and a machine. Something they can both empathize with in each other. And that, more than anything, is the basis of a good, healthy, long-lasting relationship in my opinion. I think they would be very good for each other once they both move past their hangups. Two people who can grow both together and as individuals. I just think it’s a beautiful dynamic and such a strong foundation to base a relationship on. It makes me believe that they would be a couple who lasts.  And then there’s the fact that they both are very competent people, too! (In fanon at least, lol! XD) I absolutely love that sort of buddy cop vibe these two would have (sometimes literally) where one of them is super analytical and the other is reckless and spontaneous? While being total badasses, too! But both working together would balance each other out perfectly. I feel like Connor would help make up for Gavin’s tactlessness while Gavin helps Connor feel more human. They’d both shake each other up, help each other out of their comfort zones and into a fuller experience of life. They’re such great foils for each other and I think it makes them so balanced in terms of a relationship, too. And that goes for the banter as well. They can both be sarcastic little shitheads and omg, it’s so funny the way some authors write that! Top tier banter is a sign of a great Convin fic imo, lol! They’re just the perfect characters for that sort of humor! XD But I really believe having a sense of humor you can share with a partner would be such a boon to a romantic relationship, too. And, y’know... seeing them laugh at and with each other just makes me smile. I love knowing they enjoy each other’s company so much and that they’re so happy together. Gah, it makes me absolutely melt. Ultimately, this is how I love to both read and write them. As two flawed individuals trying to move past their past transgressions. Growing. Changing. Learning that they’re not so dissimilar. Understanding each other more fully than they’d ever expect. Bonds deepening, affection growing, a language of their own developing between them. And then, the pin dropping. The realization. And a love that can and will last. All the while being quippy little badasses, lol! (And if you want a great example of all of this, I’d be remiss not to recommend perhaps my favorite Convin fic of all, Mission: Unexpected, by J11nxed. It’s so good. It’s the fic I always go back to when I need cheering up. And it’s absolutely the dynamic I try for when I write Convin myself. It’s a long fic but it’s so worth reading!)  So yeah... That is... the most basic answer I could give to this, lol. I just... really love this ship a whole lot and I’m actually so glad you asked about it because I love sharing my thoughts on it with others. And, y’know, hoping that maybe my words would get them to give it a chance if they haven’t before. Hopefully, there aren’t too many typos, lol! There’s no way I’m going back through this freakin essay, omg. XD But yeah, hope this answered your question sufficiently, friend! :D

favourite male fictional characters.

I took it that this meant ten so am going with that (tho am not gonna try and put them into order). am also sticking to all the characters I loved this year. and gonna ramble and add gifs so cutting it here. 

1. Liu Sang

The Lost Tomb Reboot/Reunion: The Sound of The Providence

I have so much love for this boy it’s not even healthy. it’s a bit funny tho bc once I started tltr, I didn’t really like him and almost forgot about him as the first season ended. he just felt so annoying and bitter in what I saw him, even if I did get that he had a Tragic BackstoryTM (I felt for him but well. tltr really made him hard to like at first). but then they brought him back in the second season with his sad puppy eyes and inability to handle his thoughts on wu xie and being all touch-starved and pitiful and whatnot and baam, I had the adoption papers ready. he’s wonderful and so strong and so smart and amazing. and liu chang as his actor has been wonderful (and he’s so pretty my god, have you seen him??)

2. Shen Wei

Guardian

never did I expect to just. fall into this hole after a year? I remember what a mess I was when I first watched guardian over a year ago, right after finishing the untamed. I was in shambles even as I knew how it would end. and now I’ve done this all again while also reading the novel and. my love for shen wei, especially bc it’s zhu yilong acting as shen wei? astronomical. I want to write poetry about him and his stupid responsibilities that he chooses to carry silently and his devotion to zhao yunlan and his love for his ppl and his didi and. I hope that one day I manage to write weilan bc I have this one idea and you can come pry it from my cold, dead fingers if it doesn’t get out there (am also super happy about the edit I made bc my god does he deserve at least that)

3. Cloud Strife

Final Fantasy VII

ok so stepping into the video games territory now. I was waiting for the remake like crazy and it was everything to me once the quarantine hit during spring. the game is so beautiful and I felt like I looked at this gorgeous boy once and was ready to give him my heart (tbh am quite sure he owned my heart before I even learned to know him). he is tragic in so many ways (I’ve only scratched the surface of all of his pain I know) and I wish I could just. hug him a lot. he is kind and cares very deeply even if he hates to show it and I love it how remake showed him also just being a human disaster (some of his scenes are just. peak comedy). I would kill for his smile (I have already cried for it a dozen)

4. Geralt of Rivia

The Witcher (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt)

if there’s one grumpy, brickwall of a man I love, it’s geralt. I affectionately call him “papa wolf” while playing witcher 3 and his voice in it does things to me (I am just so fond of him ok, begone you dirty fuckers). I got introduced to him through the books and adored him in them bc he is so prickly and sarcastic and still so full of love even if he will never admit to it. he is the father figure I wish I could have in real life. (and yes, I’ve seen the tv series (or at least a couple of the first episodes) and it looks stunning but. this is my version of geralt and that’s the hill I will die on)

5. Xiaoge

Zhang Qiling, Daomu Biji (The Lost Tomb 2)

(wow finding a gif for him was a pain, apparently I gotta learn how to gif or?) ah, my dear boy who I’ve ended up just calling xiaoge bc he seems to prefer it over his real name/title/whatever zhang qiling really is. I got introduced to him through tltr where we really didn’t get to know that much about him bc he was just... there. huang junjie was absolutely stunning tho and his soft smiles made me super fond, but only in the lost tomb 2 did I really fall in love with xiaoge as a character. I was surprised tbh bc I didn’t expect it to be this drama? I had so many doubts about the cast in tlt2 but they all delivered! and I think cheng yi’s xiaoge is now my favorite bc he somehow captured that softness and the pain of him? (and we do not talk about that buxun storyline tyvm) tho now that ultimate note is on the way, I gotta say that xiao yuliang does a wonderful job as xiaoge too!

6. Wu Xie

Daomu Biji (Ultimate Note)

(sorry we have to go with a pingxie gif now but maybe it’s only fitting) tbh it’s hard to choose my favorite version of wu xie. I think all of the actors for him have done amazing job showing wu xie in different parts of his life (all of them are very distinct but still feel like the same person) but currently zheng shunxi takes the lead. I really wanted to put the reboot version of him here (bc I love that mature, relaxed and somehow very soft version of him and the angst is phenomenal and the thoughts he has about death... yeah) but I already have zhu yilong’s face here once so :’D wu xie is just one of those characters you cannot not like. he is so strong, so kind, so stubborn, so wonderfully stupid sometimes and in need of careful protection. I also adore it how smart he is and I could listen to him spew history facts for 10 hours straight (even if it was in a tomb full of blood zombies) ♥

7. Jiang Cheng

Jiang Wanyin, The Untamed

my darling boy! my beautiful angry grape! I love him beyond words. I love him in all of his raging, misunderstood, stupid, sassy, constipated, abused, tragic, bitter, big hearted glory. I could write novels about him (and I did and am still writing oh boy) and his love for ppl and his inability to show that love and his loneliness and his issues. I could also write another novel for all of his outfits etc. bc damn, what a fashion king. he is just so great. he owns my soul. he deserves happiness and in this essay I will

8. Isana Yashiro

Adolf K. Weismann, K Project

I rewatched k project this spring bc a) it’s one of my favorite animes ever (it just looks stunning with all the colors) and b) I love yashiro to bits. I remember falling in love with him when I first watched k project many years ago bc he was just so kind and bright. this time though, I ended up seeing another side of him and my god did I cry. he is... so sweet. he cares for others so deeply and is ready to sacrifice so much for them and his love for his two clansmen... yeah. I think I finally saw the tragedy of him too, all the pain and loneliness and insecurity he decides to hide behind his smile and obnoxious personality. he reminded me a lot of myself and watching him made my heart bleed in a good way

9. Qi Tiezui

Ba Ye, The Mystic Nine

(wow am going to riot for the lack of all the gifs hhh) yes, we’re continuing with the dmbj universe that sucked me in big time this year. the drama of the mystic nine wasn’t probably that earth shattering for me as it somehow got boring more than once but I did love ba ye to bits. he was just... so nice? I got it that he was somehow this “comedic relief” in the drama with all of his funny scenes and ridiculous mannerisms but I could see the brilliance of him. he is warm and smart and kind of a romantic too and he cares for all of his friends so deeply? it was also sweet how protective of him his two zhangs were (does that run in the family? the tendency to imprint into one smart but disastrous man and keep him safe? maybe) and I really hope I knew more about him bc he seemed to have a lot of knowledge and a lot of impact to ppl’s lives (I yelled when they mentioned him in ultimate note, I miss him ;;)

10. Dorian Pavus

Dragon Age Inquisition

(yes I’ve been replaying DA:I this year, this counts!) another darling boy! my lovely sass master son! I have so much love for him and his story in DA:I. he is my favorite companion (and his romance is my favorite too, probably obvious in the way am currently romancing him for the third time) and he has given me a lot of strength. the way he stands up against his father, how he’s ready to reform his homeland instead of walking away, how he’s so caring for those he sees struggling... it’s very warming and I feel like I’m safe with him. it feels a bit silly to say that but he really is that comfort character I will seek out when I just want to know am doing fine :’) (and I am so excited to see him again in DA4! probably?)

Tomb of the Sea

yes I cheated a bit (with my own rules lol) to fit li cu here. I didn’t really expect to like him or tomb of the sea as much as I did once I started it? I’ve seen leo wu elsewhere before this (battle through the heavens, nirvana in fire) and his face always makes me think about a sad puppy so maybe I just grew fond over li cu instantly bc he was... so hurt? the first episode really slaps you in the face with all of it, showing him being abused, wounded, kidnapped, tortured, used and then just very, very scared and broken. he continues being that throughout the whole drama and I feel like tomb of the sea (or sand sea or sha hai idk) is the darkest and angstiest story in the dmbj universe. I know it deserves to be bc this is a dark time for wu xie but... my darling li cu. I wish him only happiness ;; he was so strong and smart and wonderful in this and it was just so amazing to watch him grow and find his own place in the world just bc he did something himself (even when he got dragged into all of this bc of wu xie) also I support the wu xie adopts li cu -agenda

I just find kinship in all of the characters who are on this list. and I feel like I aspire to be as strong and as kind and as loving despite all the pain I’ve been put through.

Shining by Nemainofthewater - In-Universe, Multichapter (Incomplete), rated G. Jaskier’s part-dragon and it’s super cute. 8 chapters as of posting this list, and Geralt’s not in it (yet? idk. I don’t even care I just want Jaskier Dragon Shenanigans)

Golden Scales by Bekyll - In-Universe, Series (follow-up is Multichapter, Incomplete), first part is rated G. Jaskier’s a siren!! Look I love Jask not being quite human. This one goes full siren, and the follow up has him dealing with wanting to learn all about Human Things while not understanding basic concepts like Not Stealing, which is both adorable and hilarious. Geralt is perfectly grumpy about it.

A Story Without an Ending by tajn - Modern AU, Multichapter (Incomplete), Not-Rated. A hypnotism show goes wrong, and modern Julian suddenly remembers his past life as Jaskier. Only two chapters so far but it’s entertaining and the dialogue’s funny. 

Get a text from your Witcher by Doodled93, XPerimental - Modern AU, Series, T and G ratings. This is the modern au stuff I crave, with Geralt still being a witcher who is Bad At Texting, to a hysterical degree. It could be argued he’s actually fantastic at texting. Jaskier’s a well-known, up-and-coming singer, and also they’re already dating. The dialogue’s on-point, and Geralt’s use of technology had me cackling more than once.

The Witcher Wolf by im_fairly_witty - In-Universe, Oneshot, rated T. My favorite tag on the fic sums it up: “geralt accidentally becomes an emotional support animal.” Geralt’s a wolf, Jaskier’s oblivious, and it results in a wonderful amount of angst and hilarity. WOLF GERALT IS A GOOD BOY (but still grump)

Quietus Riotus by XxmerthurcatxX - In-Universe, Multichapter (Complete), rated E. Jaskier’s hit by a silencing spell while Geralt gets a truth spell. Delicious Hurt/Comfort ensues. Yennefer is not paid enough to deal with these idiots and they are extremely lucky to know her.  

a broken pot can still hold water by MarionetteFtHJM - In-Universe, Multichapter (Complete), rated E. This is easily one of my favorite ep.6 fix-it fics. I read it so fast I mistook it for a oneshot until I was writing up this list LOL Jaskier goes on to live his life and Geralt has to WORK for that forgiveness. The resolution is beautifully slow and Jaskier’s wonderfully snarky. Geralt is trying his best (which is terrible, but that’s okay we still love him)
