Journaling Practices to Help With Writing Funks
Tumblr media
Feeling stuck in your writing? Journaling might be your answer to getting unstuck! NaNo Participant Ashley has some tips on using journaling as a guide to get you writing again. We all know writing is no easy feat, and it can be especially difficult when we find ourselves in a funk. Sometimes it’s best to take a break, reset, and turn our energy elsewhere and inward to help us get re-focused on the goal ahead. So, whether you’re struggling to start a new work or find yourself stumped on writing that next chapter, try these tips to help you get over the hump.
1. Brain dump
A brain dump is exactly what it sounds like. Grab a journal and write down everything on your mind. It can be specific to what you’re currently working on, or just anything that’s taking up space in your head. Set a timer for 5 minutes and let the thoughts flow. If you find this difficult to do, maybe start with one of these prompts:
What are five things I accomplished today?
How can I prioritize myself and my everyday tasks better?
Are there any goals I’d like to accomplish this week/month/year?
Pro tip: Using the voice note app on your phone works just as well! Go for a walk or hop in your car for a drive and talk all your thoughts out until there’s nothing left to say.
2. Use a guided journal
I’m a big fan of guided journals when I can’t seem to find the inspiration to write. Something about a journal prompt and the space to write freely about a variety of topics really helps me to get out of my head. There are a ton of guided journals out there, but these are a few of my favorites:
Cleo Wade’s Heart Talk
Rupi Kaur’s Healing Through Words
Michelle Obama’s Becoming
3. Keep a gratitude log
One of the best ways to get grounded and re-centered is by simply paying attention and being present to the world around us. Start your day or end your night making a list of 5-10 things you're grateful for. You can even take it a step further by choosing 1 or 2 things from your list and going into more detail about why you’re grateful for it. Give yourself a few minutes every day for this practice, and by the end of the week you’ll have a long list to look back on and come back to when you’re feeling stuck.
4. Get into nature
A change of scenery is another great way to switch up your writing routine. Find a new or familiar park, take a walk, and observe the nature around you. Take notes in your phone or in your journal of everything that comes to mind using your five senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch). Get creative with what you jot down and write a poem from your observations, or perhaps a short story.

You know, it remains absolutely wild to me how... like... we know exactly who is responsible for this, where, when, and why. There's a short list of like 10 people. It looks like this:
Donald Trump, for being a fascist narcissistic grifter, con man, and criminal, who nonetheless managed to weaponise enough white grievance, backlash against Obama, voter apathy, Clinton smears from the Republican slime machine, and leftist moral posturing to get elected as President and have three Supreme Court picks, all of which were obtained dishonestly;
Mitch McConnell, for being the absolute worst, not to mention proudly on record as wanting to obstruct everything a Democratic president ever does, a power-hungry shriveled racist who refused to even hold hearings for Merrick Garland and then filled that seat with Neil Gorsuch, colluded with Trump to force Anthony Kennedy to suddenly retire and install drunken sex abuser frat boy Brett Kavanaugh, then jammed Amy Coney Barrett onto the bench to fill RBG's seat, eight days before the 2020 election, in brazen open hypocrisy of everything he had said about SCOTUS and election years, since the only principle that matters to him is maintaining Republican power;
Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett themselves, for doing exactly what they were put on the court by theocratic dark money fundamentalist operatives to do, and joining Bush-era fascists Thomas, Roberts, and Alito to overrule Roe vs Wade, as the culmination of decades of deliberate and openly stated Republican policy;
Rupert Murdoch and the Fox News disinformation ecosystem, for creating the alternate reality that made Trump possible and continues to empower his sycophants, supporters, cronies, and other bad actors, and generated much of the anti-Clinton slime and smears that made their way into the mainstream, were endlessly repeated by so-called respectable media outlets like the NY Times, and poisoned the American electorate, already disposed to misogyny, against the most qualified (and historic) Democratic Presidential candidate there has likely ever been;
James Comey, for deciding to issue the "we are still investigating HER EEEEMAILS!" letter a week before the 2016 election, which took just enough off Clinton's increasingly narrow margins to put Trump over the top thanks to the rigged and racist Electoral College, which has often functioned exactly as designed in helping non-popular-vote-winning Republican presidents into power;
Vladimir Putin, for running a well-attested and repeatedly confirmed wide-ranging disinformation and interference campaign in the 2016 election to boost Trump, the Kremlin's pet stooge, and discredit Clinton, as part of his overall and equally well-attested scheme to disrupt and destroy Western liberal democratic institutions and boost Russian power;
And like... in terms of direct, locatable, empirically provable concrete responsibility, that's it. I'm even being charitable and leaving Bernie off this list, though I feel that he played a major part in creating both the 2016 clusterfuck and the "I'm too good to ever vote unless for my perfect socialist messiah" attitude that now prevails among much of the Online Left. That is a small number of names. Their actions are all verifiable in public records and a wide variety of news sources, both partisan and non-partisan. (Protip, anything you can only find in one news source that precisely matches your own ideological beliefs is, uh, deeply suspect.) I'm a historian. I work with verifiable facts and evidence, even if they might lead me to conclusions that I personally don't like. And any wide-sweeping broad generalisation, with absolutely no specific evidence or sources cited, is... not how it works and will get you a bad mark on an essay or research project every time.
So against this short list of 8 people, all demonstrably bad actors with bad motivations, what does your average Online Leftist do? They blame Obama, who "said he would codify Roe vs Wade and didn't!" Well, you might say, did Obama ever have a filibuster-proof pro-choice majority in the Senate? No, he didn't, but that's not an excuse, it just means he and Harry Reid didn't try hard enough (this already after McConnell's announcement about making Obama a one-term president and obstructing everything). Obama had the greatest financial meltdown since the Great Depression on his hands, and then spent all his political capital passing the Affordable Care Act, lost the House in 2010 as a result and the Senate in 2014, and which, despite being an actual, y'know, codified law, has been subject to literally hundreds of Republican challenges to gut, reverse, or overrule it as much as possible? YOU'RE JUST MAKING EXCUSES! WHO CARES ABOUT THE ECONOMY? OBAMA COULD HAVE DONE IT IF HE CARED AND FORESAW THE FUTURE!
Likewise, the left's other favorite scapegoat is RBG, for not "retiring in time" or otherwise precisely predicting the moment of her own death and who would be in office at the time. Literally no blame for McConnell, the one who actually and deliberately crammed the three illegitimate justices onto the bench in defiance of all protocol and precedent. So let's see... the so-called progressives are blaming a Democratic black man and a liberal Jewish woman for the actions of a bunch of evil Republican white men. Or the other laughable false equivalence I saw yesterday, which claimed that ever since the Democrats were elected in 2020, civil rights, LGBT rights, and now abortion rights were being stripped away (with the clear implication that it was their fault). This just happened on its own, I guess, and not because specific Republican-controlled state legislatures and the Republican-packed Supreme Court had deliberately done this as a strategy of pursuing and consolidating fascist power even after Trump's forced departure from the scene. Name one non-Joe Manchin/Kyrsten Sinema instance of the Democrats actively doing the same thing. I will wait.
This is not even to mention the leftists repeating straight-up QAnon propaganda about how Joe Biden is a racist sexist child molester and, I quote, "the literal scum of the earth." There are legitimate policy and performance grounds to criticise Biden on: his speech yesterday said all the right things, but it remains to be seen how much of a promised "whole of government" action will actually be made, including the available powers of the executive branch to which Biden, as chief executive, has access. His personal response has, at times, likewise seemed slow and flat-footed. But the Online Leftists have abandoned all pretense of a rational and reality-based critique, in favor of hurling the most overheated personal moral slanders possible, like the Puritans at a witch-burning. Again, I ask, we're supposed to believe that these are the progressives?
I saw a stat recently about how only 23% of American adults use Twitter. That is... not even one quarter of the country. Out of that, the Online Leftists are only a tiny percentage. These ideas are not popular or universal or just something that "everyone believes" outside of a carefully curated echo chamber. It may feel all-encompassing, but it's not, and frankly, its denizens seem to be interested in anything except building workable, practical coalitions, if it would mean taking any criticism or compromising on their exalted ideals (which, as I have noted throughout this post, really aren't as great as they seem). As I've said before, my own political views are as far left as it's possible to go, and yet, I doubtless will continue to receive more messages like the charming anon from the other day who told me to kill myself for being "bootlicking slime." This is how they like to communicate with people who otherwise agree with them on every policy level (at least as outwardly stated and certainly not as practiced). This... kind of seems like a problem.
I've likewise written before about how ideological revolutions to drastically remake societies with the Right Idea have never, ever succeeded, and only bring more pain, suffering, and death. To all those people preaching "revolution!" as the solution: you realize that all the idealistic young students manning the barricades in Les Miserables get shot, right? And that it's not an actual, legitimate political plan, not least because it isn't a plan? It's a reactive coping-mechanism magical-thinking wish that everything bad would just magically disappear in a burst of glory, and everything would be better now. It's comforting to daydream about, but it's not something any sane, rational adult really puts any stock in, since it's never something that has ever worked in history. What revolution? How? When? Surely you don't mean like the January 6 rioters, unless you do, since overthrowing the illegimate government with overwhelming violence is, oops, once again straight out of the right-wing playbook. Still waiting for those promised progressive ideals!
Basically, even in the unlikely event that they actually acquired it, I wouldn't trust the current crop of Online Leftists with power any more than I trust the Republicans, despite them outwardly sharing my beliefs and values. They haven't proven that they're interested in anything except punishing those who don't hold their exact narrow and rigid idea of "moral" views, blaming other people who again, think largely or entirely like them, threatening or using violence against anyone who disagrees with them, and finding ways to constantly excuse and ignore the actual perpetrators of illiberal Christofascism. All, again, while claiming to be progressive! Like the AO3 anti crowd, who thinks that perfect morality in the world can be achieved by aggressively and abusively policing the fiction that people write for fun in their free time, it's about using cult-like techniques and tactics to position the entire outside world as the morally inferior enemy and building in-group solidarity by attacking them. Which seems like, oh, I dunno... Trump supporters. Again. Womp womp.
I don't know. Call me an old person; I definitely am. But as terrible and cynical and generationally damaging as the Dobbs decision is, and how it represents the greatest legal denial of personhood and autonomy to American women in most of our lifetimes, there's something even worse about seeing the generation who claims to "know better" blaming the people who opposed it, excusing the people who did it, and then going straight into more nonsense about why it's not actually bad and/or twisting themselves into pretzels to invent the hypothetical (white, rich) woman who somehow won't be affected by this. Maybe that's just me in thinking that is a profoundly flawed and wrong response on literally every level, but you know, I suspect it's not. So yeah.

If anyone needs a reason to vote for Joe Biden let me tell you why: He hires the best paper pushers and administrative staff to implement his programs. These people are god tier, and the president himself doesn't matter all that much to how the government runs.
Long version:
I work in policy, and part of my job is trying to make sure money for stopping climate change goes to union jobs, and that communities are included in decision-making and that low-income/marginalized communities get good investments as much as the rich communities, that there are strong worker and environmental justice protections. It's boring and often depressing and while my dad thinks I am ruining the world, I think I do good stuff, more or less.
And I am OLD and have worked in my field under Bush (cry), Obama, Tr*mp (cries harder) and Biden.
The Biden administration staff - from the lowest level intern people to the higher up political appointees - I have worked with have been the straight up best, most committed, most PASSIONATE about helping people of any administration listed. Also a lot of them are nice.
I think Obama's people were pretty solid, and they did care (memorable moment of having a protest with a bunch of people getting arrested outside the EPA and staff sneaking out and thanking them because they needed political cover to do their job) but maybe they never had the kind of ambitious programming to work with that Biden has.
Kind of what happened is that we passed two mega pieces of climate legislation (IRA and BIL if your nasty like that) and then a bunch of the people who worked on passing those bills got jobs in the Biden administration to help turn those fresh new baby laws into actual real policy and projects, which is really hard, guys, it's so hard. It's so many and so much and it never ends and we have this MOMENT.
So they are passionate. They have been dreaming for YEARS about what we could accomplish with some ambitious public money to fucking do stuff about climate change and workers rights. They are SO PRO BLUE COLLAR WORKERS. I love them. They get it. When they don't get it, they LISTEN.
I don't care if you vote for Biden, the man. Who even is he? I could care less. But vote for who ever is in charge of hiring for Biden. Vote for the staff at the Department of the Interior and the EPA and the Department of Energy and the people in charge of programming for flood preventing agricultural practices at the USDA and the people at the Department of Labor who want to bring people who've been caught up in the criminal justice system into special apprenticeship programs with wrap around care services so they can get a good job with dignity and wages to sustain a family.
They are fucking rock stars. And I am starting to really see some cool projects come out, for example, my region has seen a $30/hour an hour wage increase in environmental remediation jobs DIRECTLY DUE to Biden administration policies and the BIL. We have to be able to continue this work.

https://www.tumblr.com/vriskarights/706085331968065536/why-do-tras-call-lesbians-who-dont-like-dick
For whatever reason, Tumblr isn't letting me reblog to add my answer to your questions. Before we get to the questions though:
"by definition, no lesbian likes dick."
First, we're going to immediately denounce your transphobia right from the get-go.
Lesbians can like dick. Dicks are not gendered. Dicks can be attached to women. Trans women with dicks exist. Cis women lesbians can like trans women lesbians with dicks.
Lesbianism is not about "not liking dicks" and that's a super weird way to define your sexuality.
Now, if you personally don't like dicks, even when they are attached to women, that's fine. You're allowed to have a no-dick preference. Just don't sit there and act like you get to define lesbianism for the rest of the planet, because you don't.
Moving on.
"Do you have any sources of radfems partnering with and benefitting fascist organizations?"
Yes, I do. It's not hard to find these sources. Radfems saying things like "At least ISIS knows what a woman is" are literally everywhere.
Here's a news article for you from The Washington Post, "Conservatives find unlikely ally in fighting transgender rights: Radical feminists".
https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2020/02/07/radical-feminists-conservatives-transgender-rights/
The Women's Liberation Front (WoLF) has become very friendly with conservatives of various kinds in recent years. They've been featured on Tucker Carlson's show and have presented at the Heritage Foundation, which is an organization that promotes conservative values. WoLF received money from another conservative Christian organization, the Alliance Defending Freedom, to help promote an anti-transgender bill during the Obama administration.
That's a lot of damning evidence from just one source. Believe me, there are more. Bottom line: transphobic radfems eagerly align themselves with conservatives when it suits their needs.
"How is recognizing the relevance of biological sex to sexism and homophobia fascist? And how are we bioessentialist--what innate qualities do we assign to males and females?"
Recognizing that humans generally come in two sexes is not fascism. It becomes bigotry when you decide - against the evidence of science - that sex is binary and immutable. It's bigotry to say either sex has any inherent qualities. It's bigotry when you decide gender and sex are inherently linked and that trans people do not exist. Bigotry becomes fascism when you try to pass oppressive laws to enforce your bigoted beliefs, like anti trans laws.
Many radfems do assign inherent qualities to the sexes. Not all of them do it outright - it's much more of an unconscious bias. But almost all radfems are disgusted by males, masculinity, and manhood. Many radfems believe whether consciously or unconsciously that males are, at their core, bad.
Testosterone is usually listed as the thing that causes this badness. We'll get into how this affects their opinions on cis men and trans women, but I first want to prove this is bioessentialism by using trans men as an example. The radfem's fear, hatred and revulsion of trans men, and the way they talk about trans men, is all rooted in bioessentialism and associating maleness with disgust.
"Trans men who go in T become ugly, they're balding, greasy, covered in acne, fat, smell bad, and they're hairy" - all of those are innate qualities they associate with maleness and disgust. To radfems, body hair on a trans man isn't just hair, it's gross, even though they're feminists and they're supposed to support natural body hair.
The intense body shaming radfems express towards trans men betrays not only their own hypocrisy with regards to body positivity, but their bioessentialism as well. They would not be revolted by these traits if they did not associate them with maleness, and maleness with being bad and negative.
Almost all radfems I've seen have said something along the lines of "all men are bad". They don't ascribe this badness to socialization and often rarely even mention "male socialization" - no, they directly associate maleness with badness, as noted above.
Radfems are often not just afraid of males, they are disgusted by maleness, masculinity, and manhood. That's assigning a quality to the sexes: male = disgusting, female = good. That's bioessentialism.
Other innate qualities I have seen radfems assign to the sexes: males are always bigger and stronger than females, and females can never (or very rarely ever) overpower males. Therefore males are a risk to females, but females cannot be threatening or dangerous towards males. This is why radfems feel females need safe spaces but males do not. This is also why radfems rarely ever believe male rape victims of female rapists, and in some cases, do not believe males can be raped by a female at all.
That's all bioessentialism. And maybe you don't believe any of those things, but a lot of radfems do, and it informs their rhetoric. This is why radfems treat trans women like predators: not because of "male socialization", but because trans women were assigned male at birth, and that makes them tainted from the womb.
Cis men are completely capable of controlling themselves; they are not biologically predisposed towards cheating or rape or violence. That's all socialization's fault. But you'd never think that, listening to radfems.
Testosterone in someone's system does not make them good or bad, ugly or pretty. It does not make someone predisposed towards violence. It's just a hormone. If anything, listening to trans men describe their experiences and how T makes them feel proves that cis men who are actually awful cannot blame their behavior on their biology, as they desperately want to do.
Next!
"Believing that man is the word word adult human males and that woman is the word for adult human females (as the dictionary states) isn't bioessentialist as it ascribes no innate qualities (i.e. tough, nurturing, sporty, motherly) to the sexes."
The problem with the claim that male = man and female = woman is that it only works if language is immutable and never changes, and if trans people don't exist. I've already explained how radfems very much do assign qualities to the sexes. The belief that male = man and female = woman is bioessentialist because it erases the existence of binary trans people and nonbinary trans people, plain and simple. If you argue the only way to be a man is to be male, you are assigning a quality to both of those things.
"Recognizing trends brought on by socialization and observable in statistics != assigning innate qualities to males and females (i.e. acknowledging that the majority of violent crime is committed by men is not bioessentialist because it is a fact)."
It wouldn't be bioessentialist if radfems didn't follow it by saying that these statistics mean "ALL men are untrustworthy". The instant you say every man should be treated as potentially violent, it's bioessentialism, because you are now applying violence to maleness as an inherent quality.
"I have been called a fascist and a nazi for not liking dick,"
No you haven't.
"and for acknowledging that my female homosexuality (exclusive same sex attraction) is what makes me a lesbian."
This is why you have been called a fascist and a nazi, for reasons explained above. Not liking dick is perfectly fine; redefining lesbianism around your hatred of dicks is weird and also transphobic.
"As have many lesbians (hence why we’ve grown to be critical of the trans movement--it is homophobic and to our detriment, and why should we sacrifice ourselves when we’re already an oppression minority?)."
Cis lesbians as a whole have not become critical of the trans community. Transphobes like you are, thank the gods, a tiny minority. Most cis lesbians love their trans siblings, both trans women and trans men.
You are tiny, loud, annoying parasites leeching off feminists and lesbians. Like mosquitos.

Libraries are for EVERYONE
One of my favorite quotes of all time is from librarian Jo Godwin:
"A truly great library contains something in it to offend everyone.”
Insane that someone would just go ahead and keep on with the fake narrative that libraries are only bastions of liberal ideas only. I beg people to come here and look at our library, and the books that we have. There are so many that I roll my eyes at. But hey, that means that those books are not for me.
I had a woman who called the library today when I was working the phones. She was immediately irate about the fact that she had to wait since December to read a book on Libby. She started reading it last month, but only got 43% of the way through it in 21 days. (That's definitely not a fault at all.) She has to turn it in tomorrow because there is someone on hold for it, and she is incensed that she has to wait to finish reading it again.
I explained to her how the holds process worked, especially regarding rechecking a book, and how it has to go to the next person in line. I let her know that she can get back on the hold list again, so that when the next person is done, she can get it back.
This woman, who I've never spoken to before nor did I recognize her name as a regular patron, proceeded to yell at me that "this library has such a liberal bias, because there's only one copy for this book, but 14 copies of Michelle Obama's book!" and "They knew this book was going to be popular, so they should have asked for as many as they got of Michelle Obama's book!"
The book she was reading is The Great Disappearance: 31 Ways to be Rapture Ready by David Jeremiah. She was comparing this book to The Light We Carry by Michelle Obama.
I kind of let her rant for a little bit, but as I tried to suggest things to her, she raised her voice at me, yet again. If you know me, that's one of the worst things you can do. I used to cower, but I've learned how to deal with people like that.
I told her the following when she finally took a breath:
"I am sorry for how frustrating this is for you. I would like to offer you what assistance I can, but I will only do that if you can calm down. If you are still this upset, I will disconnect the call."
I reiterate her about going back on hold for the book, how long at most she can expect to wait for it, then suggested to come to one of our library Board meetings. They are open to the public, and she can sign up to make a public comment to the Board.
The call ended with her crying because she was so frustrated that there "weren't as many religious books as there are liberal books" and "it's such a liberal agenda." I again apologized for her frustration, and directed her to attend a Board meeting, followed up with:
"If you have felt this way for a long time, it's best to actually say something rather than not saying anything at all."
She stated that nothing will change, but that I was right. I told her it helps to have others that feel the same way involved in a Board meeting. That's the best way for them to be heard.
*Now, time for my personal thoughts on the incident*
You cannot seriously tell me that you think that a pastor, who goes by Dr. but has only an honorary doctorate, is going to sell more books than a former First Lady. According to her, we should have as many books by this man as the former First Lady.
Also, if it was that important to her that she read it, why not buy it? Looks like a book that, as a good Christian, you would want to have. Then again, evangelical Christians are something else. A lot that I have met have been lovely, but more than that have been stupendously judgmental and racist. Some of them have learned, and many have not.
But I'll tell you this:
It's so important, as a public library, to have things for EVERYONE. And we really do. But if it's a matter of how many much media we have available for a certain item, that's determined by how much the author is checked out. If not many people are checking out this author's books, it's obvious that we're not going to order as many copies that we did a book by Michelle Obama. I guarantee the numbers are very different. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with subject, and all to do with popularity. If the community isn't interested, we won't have it.

I wonder why the FCDO is advising this…
Brexit and the Special Relationship.
The American establishment is/was very much against Britain leaving the EU. So much so that Cameron had the Obamas come out on their farewell tour to help campaign for "remain." The establishment's stance back in 2016 was that if Britain leaves the EU, then the US will prioritize the EU and Britain goes to the bottom of the list as far as treaties, agreements, negotiations, etc. No more special relationship, or the special relationship isn't as special as it once was.
Biden is very much a member of the American establishment and, as the current occupant of the White House, has a lot of power over where Britain stands globally post-Brexit. The FCDO probably wants to continue nurturing the special relationship so the US doesn't follow through on their threat to drop Britain as a priority partner.
My opinion - the UK can still nurture the Special Relationship but should really table any talk of state visits or special priority for the US. It looks like Charles (and the media) is putting all of his chips on the US and we're not a feasible long-term strategy -- that's an unrequited codependency. He needs the EU just as equally, especially with Russian and Chinese aggression. (And also focusing on the EU as opposed to the US will neutralize the Harkle threat even further.)
(I'm a fed in Washington. You didn't hear this from me.)
the 2016 stance is totally right - Obama told us 'back of the queue' and Trump reversed that position, which obviously flipped back when Biden came in. I cannot stand Obama for that intervention, he had no business getting involved in a democratic vote - and the remain position was ultimately what cost Cameron his job. He should have stayed neutral, the clown.
Also, thank you. If I keep talking I'll talk myself into tinhat territory lmao

anyone who thinks tumblr has always been an ultra leftist and liberal safe space that was all uwu and fandoms and knowledgeable posts is either out of their mind or hasn’t been on here long enough.
I remember being one of the only black KIDS in my sphere of humor blogging and it was so brutal. I was young and unaware at 14 and didn’t know any better. this was the also the same era and sphere where Barbie Ferrera and Acacia Brinley existed before fame. I’m the SAME AGE as them and it wasn’t that long ago.
One of THE FIRST times I was called the n-word in my life was right after I posted my face on here. I was 13 and just hit 3k followers and wanted to do something big for it. Shortly after that happened, I got a barrage of anonymous hate slurs and subsequently deleted that account because it was so bad and I felt so alone.
In 2012, the YouTube video ‘Ghetto Sims’ spread through tumblr like wildfire. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, LOOK IT UP. Any post that had a gif of this YouTube series that featured two black sims with HORRIDLY racist names and tropes could gain thousands of notes in seconds. If you thought Jeffrey Star and Shane Dawson were bad, I guarantee you they found inspiration in that video. THAT was the humor of the time and any argument made against that show got you canceled.
When Obama was elected President, people OPENLY talked about how having a black president would be the downfall of this country and that ‘we’ had to change our urls that had slurs in it.
at 14, I did a few more face reveals and talked about how I loved one direction. Someone printed out my photos and jacked off to them and submitted that to me. I went offline for a bit after that.
at 15, I was obsessed with talking to older people in my friend groups because I wanted to be mature and indulge in adult conversations. I was told by two dudes that “they didn’t like black people” so whenever they were in a Skype call I couldn’t join. I thought this was normal and thought nothing of it.
At 15, one of the most famous tumblr users ever, tumblr user pizza, who at their peak had one MILLION followers, was ‘exposed’ for having a “black people fighting” tag on their blog. Except it wasn’t so much an exposure because the link was easily accessible on their blog. 1 million people followed them, and the tag has been up for 3 years.
when I was determined to go to college at 17 and spent MONTHS reaching out to older people on tumblr to read my college essays and help with my transcripts, I had to consistently sift through messages saying “lol idk why you’re stressing black people can get in anywhere because of affirmative action” and “black people don’t go to college because they’re poor idk why you’re any different.”
The list goes on and I have examples for days but you get my point.
And don’t get me wrong. I’ve had my fair share of fun on tumblr and there were a lot of good moments that outshined the bad. I made great friends here and learned a lot about different ethnic communities and sexualities I would never have been exposed to before. But the pain I endured on here at young age and the media I consumed will never be erased, and I will not say I’ve grown from it because trauma is unnecessary for anyone personal’s development.
To pretend that tumblr has always been this great community for ALL of its people would be a fallacy. However, it has always been good if you were white.

Are there any other conspiracies you believe in? Like the 9/11 one for example?
👀👀
💥The 9/11 was an inside job. They bombed these towers and the plane was a deep fake hologram.
💥Michelle Obama is a man, as well as Brigitte Macron. #Transapocalypse is a reach (and most people entertaining this movement are scrotes who will assume any woman who's not a perfect hourglass figure is a man) but there are definitely more gender crossing people than we assume.
💥Most world leaders and famous people (entertainers, world top companies CEO, etc.) are satan worshippers. I firmly believe that you cannot attain a certain level of fame or occupations if you're not a Freemasons/satanist. Here in France it's said that you can't climb the highest echelon at the DSD (Diplomatic Security) if you're not a Freemason.
💥These celebrities/A list people sacrifice children & homeless on the regular and gather either organs (didn't Rothschild managed to get transplanted 7 times despite being a literal corpse?), blood (for youth) or adenochrome (to achieve a drug-like high). Countess of Bathory has spiritual descendants.
💥They do child sacrifice at the Vatican underground. A whistleblower (who mysteriously disappeared) who was a former MK Ultra'ed satanist said she went to Black Mass out there were they sacrificed a child and summoned a demon. Don't they have a telescope called Lucifer? BYE
💥Flat earth is retarded but earth is round AND hollow and Hell is inside
💥Mental illnesses are demonic influence
💥Some people are not humans. Nephilim/cross breed/fallen angels are among us. I once saw a testimony on a church about a woman who was a Sirène des Eaux (Mama Wata in African folklore). Her mom made a pact with a demon to get pregnant. That girl said she would spend HOURS underwater whenever she felt sad and being underwater made her feel at peace and "at home". She suffered sexual immortality too, and asked the pastor to help her rebuke this spirit driving her to sin, but she was struggling so hard and since she wasn't fully human, casting bad spirits didn't work on her and there was no point anyway since she wasn't truly human to begin with. She was the bad spirit.
Another anecdote: my sister (who's VERY Cartesian and not into spirit or demon hunting like me lol) once went to see a friend's husband who was bedridden as the hospital. She said that the few seconds after she entered the room, he had scale-like skin. Kinda like Killer Croc
Tumblr media
As soon as the man picked up her presence, his skin immediately became normal again. It really freaked her out.
I believe either 1)this man didn't want to be uncovered and pulled himself together once he realized someone was there 2) he didn't know he was himself half demon and his organism being weakened (he was comatose-ing/half asleep when my siste came through) made him 'lose' his spiritual cover that made him look human (kinda like when our muscle losen up when we relax) and only pulled himself together after waking up to welcome my sister
💥Related to previous statements : I firmly believe world famous artists are channeling demons for inspiration. Either consciously or not. They are worshipping demons giving them the inspiration. Hence many movies with characters with demon name, demonic symbolism etc Even when I was not Saved and dabbling with witchcraft, I started having 'inspiration' from African traditional masks with are 100% demon channeling. That's why I do not recommend watching most popular movies (Marvels, Disney, etc) bc all these producers/animator do entertain this wicked energy (I mean, Disney was a pedo and a freemason right?)

Week 3- Compassionate Leadership
1. What is Jacinda Ardern's legacy and impact as a compassionate leader?
Jacinda Ardern was a revolutionary leader who brought empathy, resilience, teamwork, and communication to New Zealand. Ardern personified a brand-new political philosophy known as a "politics of kindness." In both her COVID-19 response and resignation address, she made reference to the term kindness. Many people, especially women, were impressed by her leadership style and more broadly by her leadership.
2. How would you define compassionate leadership? Can power and empathy coexist?
A compassionate leader is one who is accepting of others, committed to growing personally in order to elevate both their own and their organization's awareness, and inquisitive about diversity in order to provide a secure environment.
Power and empathy can undeniably coexist with one another. It is all about balancing the two forces and unifying the central ideas and common themes of what being in power and being an empath means to the leader or their team.
3. Does the world need more female leaders? How could this change the world?
I believe there is always more room for strong female leaders in any space possible. Something about the feminine energy that is brought into these spaces is truly applaudable. I find that often times it is easier to find that balance that I previously mentioned when it comes to being a compassionate leader with women rather than men. This could be due to the more natural combined compassion and empathy that feminine energy holds in a "man's world". All women could potentially change their respective industries that may be male dominated while women leaders have the opportunity to literally change the scope of society and society's views.
4. Choose a leader from this list, provide a photo, a key quote, and a paragraph about how their empathetic and selfless actions have helped to redefine power and compassion and contributed to significant global impact.
Michelle Obama: "I am an example of what is possible when girls from the very beginning of their lives are loved and nurtured by people around them. I was surrounded by extraordinary women in my life who taught me about quiet strength and dignity."
Tumblr media
Michelle Obama has consistently spoken with decency, honesty, dignity, and pride, demonstrating her great regard for both herself and other people. This also explains why, even though she is a Democrat, she respects and acknowledges the differences in viewpoints held by Republicans. Her dedication to eradicating childhood obesity and providing assistance to military families demonstrates that she not only reaches out to her community but also serves as an inspiration to young people, especially young African American women.

you know people say Captain America would be against racism but I really don't think he'd understand it very well and I don't think there's much of anyone in the MCU who could help him
Steve: Do you know about racism?
Tony, white billionaire who's never had to care how his personality plays to other people: oh, don't worry about it, that just means you have to be careful about singing the n word in rap songs when you're not in private
Pepper, white top tier educated gender conforming business type: Yeah, gender is really a much more important issue than race these days. Sexuality, too. Racism mostly happens in other countries, which you do have to watch out for.
...
Steve: So then they couldn't tell me much about it.
Sam, who agreed to let the military experiment on him and thought it was great and only recently learned sometimes the government does bad things: You know, that's because it's so much better than it was. Aside from a couple of people who like to put up confederate flags, almost no one's really racist anymore. Mostly they thank you for your service. And then you can correct mistakes really easily.
...
Steve: Was he right?
Nick Fury, who gave up on his personal comfort so long ago so he could optimize for saving lives: I wouldn't worry about it, Steve. It's easier if you don't. In fact, if anyone tries to talk to you about something other than fighting aliens, you should just walk out on them. If you cultivate the strong, silent persona, no one even tries to call you out on it. And if they do you can hit them with your shield.
...
Steve: Do you guys have any advice on this topic, or should I just give up? I've read a few books.
Clint, who doesn't even realize half the shit that's been happening to himself, and has never had a nonwhite friend, only coworkers: Uh, I can give you a list of words you're not supposed to say, I think. But there aren't any racist laws anymore or anything. Sometimes people publish racist books, I think? That might have been before, too, though, I don't read a lot.
Yelena, who was raised by a cult: Where I come from we have no racism. Only good spy, bad spy. Good spy gets reward and bigger assignment. Bad spy gets fed to wildlife. America is much better place to live than this.
Natasha, who also escaped from that cult: Yeah, I can't say any of that was race based. And no one here has ever tried to feed me to forest creatures, so I prefer that. I'll ask around if anyone has tried to feed anyone to forest creatures over their race, okay?
...
Steve: So then they said they'd ask around but they're pretty sure racism isn't a big deal anymore.
Bucky, who doesn't remember shit about fuck and is also from the past: Oh, you mean like segregation? I watched a documentary on that. They got rid of it already. You don't have to fight it.
Steve: Who got rid of it?
Bucky: Obama, I think? People keep thanking him for stuff and I figure that's probably what they're thanking him for. He ended racism, you know. I also watched a documentary on that.
...
Steve: ...so I wanted to know what you're reading in school on the topic, so I can sort out the holes in my education.
Peter, a white teenager at a very prestigious mostly white school, whose systemic problems are all entirely divorced from racism: I don't think we have that anymore. Aunt May told me Obama fixed it. Now we have aliens trying to take over the country instead.
MJ: Obama fixed what?
Peter: Racism. That's why we don't have it anymore.
MJ, suddenly on fire: OK! Both of you sit your asses down right the fuck now. Let me get my slides.

ooo work rants
I'm rewriting the office manual for fun bc Im bored and wasn't taught what I should be doing. (no I don't have permission to re-write it)
Things I hate about the handbook- it's long tho so it goes in text jail.
Listed in the responsibilities section, "Bring a positive attitude to work" shouldn't be the first thing listed. Especially when she ignores all the negative things that happen.
If you're so much as 5 min late you gotta tell EVERYONE you're 5 minutes late, even if you think you're going to be late you have to text the entire group chat you're going to be 5+ minutes late.
"Growth Mindset" and "Stereotype Threat" are both before actual procedures and take up more pages than the procedures. Instead of- idk- telling me what I should be doing and how. If someone rings the office phone I have 0 clue how to answer and how to transfer calls
the way the stereotype threat section is set up basically says to ignore aspects of yourself and others that're apart of minority groups to avoid stereotyping yourself.
Stressing out? Just think about Obama! If he became president, anyone can do anything. Thanks Obama :)
Oh- still stressing? Change your mindset! You're just thinking wrong.
you're STILL stressing? Push it off for another time and get what you need to get done right now. Then you won't choke under pressure.
Our commitment to a positive workplace climate: We will "demonstrate a commitment to diversity and multiculturalism" and to "take care of our well-being and exhibit team wellness" ah yes, I will demonstrate multiculturalism. Also- I told this person about sexual harrassment i'm facing outside of work and that i am struggling and the response was, "hmm thanks for sharing... anyways."
This is a quote: "If you work with more than one student, encourage your students to study together outside of your mentoring sessions.... Asian students, who studied in groups, formal and informal, and made little distinction between their academic and social lives, did better than White and African-American students." First and foremost- UNHEALTHY. I am Asian. I don't have distinctions. It's very very unhealthy t b h. Study groups and social times are both important but jfc. ALSO MODEL MINORITY MYTH WHO?! JFC
^^^^^^^^ This is the person that told me that I would be the first guy that they have hired because they have, "People of all different backgrounds." (I'm trans. HUH. Actually I wonder why the only man they have in the office is me- who ngl is v v feminine.) Then tells me after our first team-building day that they "Just so happen" to have only really hired Asians for their interns(the others don't work directly under this person or are in charge of specific programs). Anyways myself and my one other coworker are both asian and we're both her interns who basically act as assistants.
back to the "choking" from stress- the list includes(and I quote), "Think differently. Think about yourself in ways that highlight your aptitude for success. Instead of focusing on how your group might be negatively stereotypes, think of the tools you have to excel- you have done well in school in the past or you have a supporting network or peers and mentors" Okay I didn't actually read the negatively stereotypes part. djldfkjgflkgjdflkgjdflkgjfdlk what the fuck???
"Educate the worries. Reminding students that stereotypes are just stereotypes and nothing more can help prevent people from worrying about their ability when the pressure is on."
"Reinterpret your reactions. When under pressure, learn to interpret your bodily reactions in a positive way ("I am amped up for the test") rather than negative ("I am freaking out")." ah yes I will just say that my anxiety and panic attacks are actually just fun little excitement sparks of j o y.
The stereotype threat(Steele & Aronson, 1995) section. Instead of educating yourself about the students you work with, if they're a minority- just ignore that fact! Otherwise you'll make them fail. Set high standards and show them that you have also struggled in school- so that they can relate to you.
This was all in the first 5 pages of this handbook bro. What the fuck.

Why You Should Be A Morning Person
Tumblr media
What is the one thing that all successful people share? They rise early and get the most out of their morning. Here's why:
Awakening early allows you the chance to reflect before the bustle of the day gets underway. Simply put it's "you time" -- the time to write down your goals throughout the day. You can progress against them before other people have a chance to grab your attention and time. This puts you in control of your day.
Of course, it's extremely difficult to get up and that's precisely why those who rise early have an advantage over others. They are able to tackle their day when others doze off.
Here are a few examples of early risers who are extremely successful:
Virgin Branson is the founder. Richard Branson wakes up at 5:45 a.m., even when the island is his own, and utilizes the morning to train and have breakfast before getting ready for the day.
Michelle Obama is the First Lady of America. Michelle Obama starts her day at 4:30 am to do an exercise before her kids get up.
Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook gets up at 3:45 am each day to check his emails, workout, and go on a Starbucks breakfast before going to work
Starbucks Chief Executive Howard Schultz gets up at 4:30 am to work out (often cycling along with his spouse) -and, of course, to prepare a cup of coffee in order to kick off his day.
Disney Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger rises at 4:30 am and makes use of early morning time to read his newspaper and exercise or enjoy music or check emails and catch up on TV
Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour wakes at 5:45 am to play tennis for about an hour before her work demands require it.
GE President Jeff Immelt wakes up at 5:45 am and engages in a workout in the gym while reading the newspaper and watching CNBC
Did you see a consistent trend in all these successful people? Every morning routine includes exercise as a major aspect.
Alongside the general physical and mental health advantages, research has proven that moderate-intensity workouts for more than 20 minutes can provide mental and emotional energy over the course of 12 hours! That means these business leaders will be more focused, productive, and efficient in their work as a direct consequence of their exercise routine in the morning. Exercise time lets them think and think through problems in a non-stop manner which means they can begin to work immediately after they are in the office. A morning workout is an extremely efficient way to use time.
Alongside waking up earlier and working out there are additional morning routines that can help you start your day off in the correct direction
Drink 16 oz. of water after waking pre hydrate yourself after seven to eight hours of sleep
Create Your Bed -Every morning can lead to better productivity throughout the day.
Get a healthy Breakfast to fuel your body to meet all the challenges of your workday (led by the energy-rich fruit and veggies)
Drink 1 to 2 cups of Coffee -Give yourself a healthy early morning energy while reaping known health benefits
Get caught up on the News Make use of the time of silence to be aware of what's happening all around you.
Prioritize Your Day Make a list of your top priorities, and think about ways to accomplish them.
