12. Describe your perfect writing space

Comfortable chair at a flat surface with my laptop and ample back support. Headphones, my notebook and pen out for emergency notes, computer charger available, enough room for my mouse. Three to four beverages for me to sip.

13. Describe your writing process from idea to polished

Depends on whether it's an original work or a fanfiction! For fanfiction, because I've done it more often, there's a more streamlined process. If all goes well, it's like this: generate idea, discuss idea to death with either Amanda or Kae or both, structure idea, pour words about idea out, structure those words, minor editing, and then publish. If things do not go according to plan, often ideas will pull themselves out of me and go straight to publishing.

For original works, I have never had a novel that felt fully polished. I'll let you know when I get there.

14. How do you deal with self-doubts?

I have 210 published works on ao3.

15. How do you deal with writer’s block?

So the real answer is that I have a depressive disorder, and sometimes that means I have to do certain things different to find a creative flow- and often that means being gentle with myself. When I feel like I can't write, I paint. When I feel like I can't paint, I draw. When I can't draw, I plan. Or any of these in any order; it's just important to keep going. Do something. Doing nothing only fosters the desire to do nothing.

JOIN

Kirby raises their joined hands to his cheek, inhaling deeply, kissing Raleigh’s knuckles. Once they leave this car, they won’t have another moment alone. 

Raleigh bends over to knock their skulls together, and Kirby catches him with a kiss. 

WARM

Much later, through the fog of sleep, Raleigh hears Kirby say, “I don’t know what to do. I’ve never seen him like that. Like this. How can I help him?” He sounds heartbroken, and the weight of his tone settles over Raleigh in half-consciousness like a blanket when you’re overly warm; it’s an unignorable discomfort. It drives him to wake.

LACK

It’s well after noon when they park the car, having left the R.V. locked up at a campground some miles back, but Raleigh is bleary-eyed from the lack of sleep regardless. The threadbare curtains that hang across the windows in the trailer don’t dim headlights that flash past while they sleep on the roadside, and sounds seem amplified by the hollow space. Every disturbance in the grass is a footstep, every night sound a warning. Of course, he would be the last to know in the event of a true threat; Raleigh should sleep soundly knowing that his companions are uniquely capable of recognizing such a thing. He finds some peace when he buries his head in Kirby’s side or under his arm, but he rests fitfully at best. So, he unbuckles his seatbelt and sags into his seat until the others have opened their doors and he has to do the same.

SAFE

“We know what you like. Stay safe, and call me if there’s trouble.” Raleigh settles into his seat, letting Kirby lean over him again to look Jacqueline in the face. He is no longer smiling. “If there’s even a chance that we could be compromised, I want a phone call, Jack.” 

“Aye-aye.”

STURDY

The sunroom boasts a curving wall of windows, a rampant arch that spans the height of two stories divided into thick panes of glass. A long bar table stands on the sunroom’s farthest side, laden with pothos and budding crossandras. Though wolves fill this room, occupying all of the furniture and some of the floor, plants lay so thick that nobody could hope to sit on this table. Two grand sofas– the oldest and most delicate of all of the furniture in the Pedersen pack house –meet at an obtuse angle before the table, flanked by side tables that are themselves flanked by sturdy Irving armchairs. These are choked with werewolves, as are the couch in the room’s center and the coffee table it pairs with; the third armchair beside the bookshelf and its corresponding desk. The room most prepared to host still sees deputies sitting on the floor.

Opal and Topaz?

Topaz: What is the main conflict of your wip?

The main conflict is that the trio - Holly, Mariana, and Evie - are pulled into the Naruto universe from the "real" world, and they don't belong there. They then have to figure out how and why they got there, and how they're supposed to get home - if they even want to return home.

Opal: What motivates your protagonist to complete their goal?

Oh boy here we go. I have six protagonists. :D

Obviously the main goal is to get the trio home, but besides that:

Mariana: Mariana's goal to be a professional costume designer. What motivates her is the love of her craft and her desire to only do what she loves, not what anyone else thinks she should do.

Sakura: Sakura's goal is to feel wanted and needed. What motivates her is still feeling like she's behind Naruto and Sasuke in her development, as well as Sasuke rejecting her before leaving the village.

Evie: Evie's goal is to win at EVO. What motivates her is (1) her desire to be the best and (2) her humiliating defeat at a small tournament prior to the start of the story.

Lee: Lee's goal is to be a full ninja with all that that entails, such as teaching a genin team. His motivation for this is because of how much he's had to overcome as a taijutsu user, and because he still doesn't feel fully accepted even as a jonin.

Gaara: Gaara's goal is to avoid an arranged marriage. This is because he doesn't want to marry someone he doesn't love, certainly not a stranger. (And also because the first attempt was such a disaster)

Holly: Holly's goal is to find a new way to make a living as an artist. This is because her career as a Naruto R34 artist is over even if she were to return to her world, but she loves art, so she wants to stay in that world.

what project are you most excited about at the moment?

At present, I'm planning a new wip that I'll start drafting during Camp NaNo. It's a fantasy series although only the first book has been planned out yet. This story has been cooking in my head for a couple years and I think it's finally time to put it on paper. I haven't officially introduced it here, but I'm working on a wip intro post now. I'm super excited to see what I can do with this story!!

what is your favorite thing you've written since starting the experiment?

Hello! :D I struggled with this one haha. I've been working on some longer, more long term projects since starting the experiment. It's helped me a lot!

I think, so far, the one I'm most excited about is Chapter 5 of my RWBY fic, Build What You Cannot Find. I had put it on hiatus for over a year but I was able to get this chapter done and improve it even from my original idea :D

How lucky I learned Camp NaNoWriMo started yesterday.

I'm not making any goals like word count or pages filled (notebooks are my preferred choice) but I think my goals for this month are to finish two chapters of my fanfiction. One is mostly written and the other I don't know what I'm doing.

I still have the 5-Subject notebook I attempted to fill in November. I dropped the goal after the first week because I focused to much on counting words to put into the NaNoWriMo site (I wanted that badge, alas, I was 5K words short). I still use the notebook for my project. Whenever I leaf through it I get surprised that it's almost half full.

Labradorite: What made you fall in love with your wip? What motivates you to write it?

I feel like such a record with spoilers with I talk about TGGT, but it’s because so many of the elements that make it what it is (a weird funky story) are laden with them, and it really is about the reader experience. That said, one can expect some House of Leaves-esque turns, especially in formatting. The twists and turns and evolution of the narrative really are hooked through me, and I love how it moves and builds like a rollercoaster. I’m motivated more than anything by the goal of just completed a well-rounded project again, and really honing my craft to make TGGT the best it can be. That, and I’m super excited for reader reactions.

I can't fucking decide which one of the three to do so off to the random spinner wheel I go again.

For C I shall do Claria Virra Jones! She's Anne's daughter, and she's 2 in Frost & Fire but is also a DND character (in that world she's Anne's granddaughter but the worlds' have different timelines so).

She becomes a ranger, I forget which type of ranger at the moment but whatever, she is annoyingly hard to pin down a design for, and also is part off brand tiefling. I have no concrete design for her so I am sorry that I do not have a picrew for you.

She really likes causing chaos. Especially when she's a little kid in Frost & Fire she behaves as if it is her one mission in life to cause as much chaos as possible. and for that I love her.
