Honestly anytime i hear the word woke its just screams "i dont like people different then me"

I mean, for a long time the far right has said stuff like:

now most of us who went to public school, were taught that diversity is a good word, we like diversity, diversity of opinion and views is democracy after all and we like that, and American is a big happy melting pot of people from all over the world (yes of course that is a not wholly true child friendly version) generations of children's books and the small world ride at Disney enforced our cultural understanding that diversity was good and we liked it, and when people said shit like "Diversity is code for white genocide" the general reaction was to recoil from someone who didn't like diversity.

Woke is a magical code word you can say. You're against "Woke" not "diversity" woke is in theory an idea (or ideas) not people so thats okay, you're not against black people, you're against seeing them on TV or in movies or voting for them or celebrating holidays about them or teaching their history in schools, or allowing kids to read books about them or with black main characters but not against black people.... and repeat with queer people, women, really any minority group. While people have always objected to the inclusion of this or that minority, and for sure bias in media kept our screens very white I don't think before now there's been a unified theory of excluding and attacking anything that includes any diversity. And clearly there are content farms and pro-outrage algorithms pushing this shit any time anything diverse happens on TV or in movies

My favorite thing about J. Jonah Jameson is that he just hates Spider-Man. He supports mutants and doesn't hate enhanced people. He's not racist, sexist, homophobic, or transphobic. He just hates Spider-Man. And I'm half convinced that he's faking for the publicity.

He'd probably get pissed if he hears someone hating on Spider-Man for being enhanced.

very funny (irritating) to me that everyone whined and yelled about stupid rainbow capitalism and how performative wokeness/allyship is a net bad we should all refuse to support and now like.

tumblr is doing nothing for pride and target isn't selling much (if any) of their pride collection offline except at certain stores (in democratic areas, basically) and build a bear has a much tinier collection than normal and all the actual pride stuff is on their "adult" website (not sure if it's in stores, but pride = adult is a hell of a message)

there are genuinely good criticisms for performative allyship in all its applications. it shouldn't be the only thing we expect from people and companies. but if all the shit I see being called performative stopped tomorrow then in terms of the LGBTQ+ community especially we just. wouldn't talk about queerness or queer issues or celebrate pride or do anything.

open your fucking eyes. we are very close politically to having gay marriage rolled back. now companies are basically being let off the hook to even make a miniscule effort (which matters to the people who don't have access to any other kind of support in their communities! which normalizes the community in public spaces!) because the only reaction they have gotten over the last few years are negative ones from BOTH sides.

we are so entrenched in discourse at all times for the sake of our OWN performance of who is the wokest and who is REALLY an ally or a good community member that we have basically handed over all the work of activists of the last several decades to the other side because we'd rather scream at each other over fucking chicken restaurants and shit than the real life backsliding that's happening.

and this goes for other shit too. feminism, poc rights, all of it.

also. trans rights aren't discourse and aren't just culture war arguments. in case any terfs think they can spin this to be antitrans.

this pride month can we please at least listen to intersex people. for example

people who claimed intersex people didn't want to be included were largely perisex bigots

stop using amab/afab to refer to or infer sex characteristics and life experiences

stop using transfeminine/transmasculine to infer someone's agab (and subsequently their sex characteristics and life experiences)

stop using tma/tme to mean "trans women"/"everyone else"

man and woman aren't opposites, gender isn't binary

male and female aren't opposites, sex isn't binary

"contradictory" labels aren't the death knell of queer people

intersex people aren't "sexually disordered" they are fucking intersex

"intersex" is not a thing you can transition to be

intersex people don't owe conformity

intersex people don't have to tell you shit about their bodies

the "cis kids being given hormones" a lot of people mention in their trans activism include a lot of intersex kids being medically abused

can we all understand this like really really quickly. is any of this very hard to wrap your head around ?

When Senshi was young in the dungeon the majority of the adults he were with ostracized him. All except Gillin, who died to make sure Senshi had something to eat: unseasoned boiled meat that may or may not have been one of their comrades.

It really puts into perspective why he was so nurturing towards Chilchuck. When Chil reveals he’s 28 to the party, Senshi responds by telling him that he thought he was older. Senshi was in his 30s when he and his comrades got trapped in the dungeon, so it’s safe to assume that he thought Chil was at a similar age.

He met a young boy who was, from his perspective, forced to do dangerous work in the dungeon just like he was, and so, Senshi made an effort to look after Chilchuck in the same way Gillin looked after him.

Mind you, when Senshi was young in the dungeon he had to starve for weeks, eat the horse he loved, and finish it off spending the next i don’t know how many years wondering if he committed cannibalism.

Senshi understands first hand the value of nutrition and proper eating, so when he’s with the party he makes an effort to make sure they’re all eating a full and balanced diet. Not only that, but Senshi INVOLVES them in the process of getting food to eat, always preparing it in front of them and narrating every ingredient in the process so that there’s no doubt about what they’re eating.
