So it's a pretty common consensus that Roach is southern (his good energy balancing out the rancid Graves energy so on so forth) but- hear me out...

Roach from Appalachia.

They get this new sergeant and Ghost is expecting the newbie to do the whole "quaking in their boots" routine but then this little dude just pulls up and gives him a nod like it's no big deal. Roach of course has seen scarier things in his granny's yard when he was still sucking in his thumb.

Roach doesn't talk much cause he's heard his own voice calling out to home from the woods and that sort of thing makes a person wary. He doesn't even tell anyone anything about his name for the first few months, especially Ghost because even the Cryptid Expert™ thinks he might not actually be a human.

They're working with Graves on a mission and he starts making fun of Roach going on and on about the Wendigo just to watch him squirm. Later that night he wakes up to Soap shaking him with a gleam in his eye. The other sergeant takes him out of their tent and he sees Gaz has got on a ghillie suit with a deer skull on his head that Roach has no idea how they found. Together they grab the tarp under Graves tent and they somehow slide him into the woods. That's when Roach learns that Soap can do scary good voice impressions. The screams woke up the whole camp and to this day Graves isn't sure if it was real or a prank but every so often Soap will whisper something in someone else's voice just to watch him jump.

ROACH: I always thought it was little boys who needed uniforms with shiny buttons to make them feel big, Inspector. MONROE: Really gets you, doesn’t it. Stuck at sergeant, forever. ROACH: I want to leave. MONROE: Tough. ROACH: Stop me. MONROE: You really are pathetic.

ROACH: Oh, by the way. Don’t bother with a party.

Fitting that Ted should go out with a bang—or, yanno, a pub brawl and a sucker punch. It would’ve been great if there had been a bit more in the lead-up, but it was inevitable that one day he’d hit the self-destruct button with no coming back. He can’t see that everyone’s trying to help him—won’t see, in Andrew’s case. If he’d let them, things would’ve been okay, but could he have lived with knowing that Andrew Monroe, of all people, had bent the rules for him? He’d still have imploded in the end.
