Today on the menu is a year old soap roach art.

roach is playing stardew valley.

Also after a year i figured out why roach's face looks weird..... i forgot the burn scars......Also i definitely stole my roach design from my partner.

soap who loses his hearing and gets medically discharged. without the military he doesn’t know what to do without the structure he’s had for so long. he doesn’t realize it at first but he becomes detached from life. without sound, he feels disconnected from everything. ghost realizes the moment something shifts in soap’s behavior and it isn’t hard to connect its because of soap’s hearing loss. he contacts an old friend of his, roach, who also lost his hearing to teach soap bsl. at first, soap outright refused. he didn’t want things to change. overtime though, roach and soap grew closer. with ghost still active duty, he was gone for months at a time. ghost couldn’t help but feel jealous, maybe even a little replaced.

i hate how like, Activision completely ignored Roach, even after the Soap's Diary they did. He had quite a personality, he wasnt just the "camera" of the player, or the player. He was new, he was just quite soap when we play him at COD 4 MW [2007], even missin' the jumps soap used to miss. Maybe its just me y'know? I am the type of fan that sees TOOO much detail in stuff, but i dont feel like is that. ALSO, HEADCANONS FOR ROACH. Roach is mute! The reason he doesnt talk on game, is just that hes mute! Or he's just too anxious to speak out on missions... maybe he talks with ghost and soap after missions [specially ghost] , a bit nervous, yet really loyal and skilled.

Funny how my top two GSR fics are named the same thing, but hey, they're both amazing. I was apprehensive because of the "calling Soap Roach by accident" trope, however they really diverted my expectations and made these three really feel like equals in a relationship. Really love how they made sure to establish a strong dynamic between Soap and Roach instead of pitting them against each other. And Roach isn't just some 2D character here, he's very nuanced and I love it!

So, Soap has really bright blue eyes, like the kind that makes you want to buy brown contacts for him. And Gary had a strange hatred for them, serious but not serious.

Once, and only once, did he almost poke Soap's eye out because he was convinced he was wearing obnoxiously blue contacts to be annoying. When Price asked why the hell he did that Roach just shrugged. And because Gary may or may not be the favorite, Price let him of with a a couple laps around base.

Now, Soap gets nervous whenever Roach stares at him too long.

Though it's ever because Roach is waiting for an opportunity to quickly make out with him before running and leaving Soap sputtering. (⁠◕⁠ᴗ⁠◕⁠✿⁠)

I think sometimes Roach really does just let the intrusive thoughts win. Not in the serious way, never anything too bad, but I swear this man has (at least once) reached out and groped a poor confused Ghost. Muttered something about having a "nice rack" before running away to hide in the vents.

He's also just quirky like that! Something about Soap's eyes, the way they sparkle and seemingly stare into his soul (as someone with blue eyes, I can say this)... He doesn't know if it's handsome or haunting.

Also yes, favorite child Roach. Price would let him get away with murder (I mean, he'd let all his boys get away with murder, but you get the point). I think Ghost goes to Price and is like "Cap, I think Roach just complemented my tits?" And bro just stares at Ghost, gives and short nod, takes a puff of his cigar and is just like "alright? He isn't wrong. You work hard Simon, train hard as well."

So back to Roach treating Soap like a fucking unicorn. I think finally, after lots of time (and maybe a few more attempted murder), Roach finally gives up. That is, not before giving Soap some brown contacts for Christmas.

He does still stare at Soap from across the room, looking like he's about to murder a bitch.

9/10 he's just waiting for an opportunity to pin Soap against the wall, kiss 'em stupid, and then walk off like nothing happened. Everyone is scared of Roach's ability to fluster *Soap* of all people. It's like trying to out-spooky Ghost or out-daddy Nikolai.

Kinda all over the place, incoherent rambling, but like- I'm still recovering. So yeah. Enjoy?
