Excerpt: Two weeks had passed since the shitshow in the attic, and Natalie still couldn't get enough of Lottie's mouth. Groaning into a languid kiss, Nat felt a firm satisfaction settle in her stomach as she craned her neck to reach Lottie, her hands pinning the taller girl by the hips against a frostbitten tree.

When Lottie broke contact to let loose a flustered moan, Nat chased after her neck, planting hot kisses along her jugular and at the juncture of her jaw. She grinned as eager hands pulled at the small of her back, enjoying how Lottie’s gloved fingers rubbed encouragement.

Through her eager kisses, Nat could feel Lottie’s voice vibrating against her mouth as the other girl tried to speak. Nat had to laugh when the sound kept stuttering, aborting into breathy pants when she licked Lottie’s earlobe.

“Yeah, what’s that?” Nat snickered, nipping playfully and massaging Lottie’s hips over her clothes.

"Come back safe," Lottie managed to say, and all at once, Nat realized Lottie was tracing the symbol into her back again… Like she always seemed to do when they said goodbye before Nat's hunts.

Upset wasn’t exactly the right word… But a quiet guard settled into Nat’s shoulders as she pulled away, a bit reluctantly, her eyes searching. “No reason for me not to, Lot,” she reassured.

“Just to be sure,” Lottie murmured, finishing her last trace of the symbol, and Nat sighed as she let her do it. It was a battle she wasn’t sure about fighting at the moment, and this parting “ritual” seemed more harmless than others. Plus, Nat had Lottie shivering and pinned to a tree right now. So, sue her for letting sleeping dogs lie.
