I saw a random post linking to this now-unrebloggable but very good post about the current state of reading comprehension in the USA amongst learned english majors due to the quite literal scam sold to the US government decades ago that has impacted generations, as many people have no doubt noticed but not been able to give a name to:

and out of sheer curiosity I am, I guess, now going to read "Bleak House" by Charles Dickens once I get through my current To Be Read list?

Anyways, for those unaware, it is Public Domain in the USA, which means you can 100% legally read it online or download to your favorite reading app from Project Gutenberg!

Well I gave my roommate $100 today to get the internet back on but now they're saying they want another $200 to reactivate it despite it being their issue. The reason we didn't pay right away was because they fucked up and put us on the wrong plan. Told us it was $300 so we called and they said they'd fix our billing (cause out bill is suppose to be around $105 they never fixed it despite us yelling about it. Then they suspended our account and then my roommate called them this morning to get it sorted and they said "TwO hUnDrEaD t0 rEaCtIvATe" for a fuck up caused by you ass clowns??? Nice. I remember that one h manhwa I got really invested in during quarantine because the plot and conflict was actually interesting and the art style was reallyyyy good. I think I got past a few chapters before noticing it was meant to be like horny more than suspenseful LMAO. But at that point I was hooked, I liked the character designs, the pacing, and ignored the blatant fucking for plot purposes here and there. Like I caught up with every update, up until hundreds of chapters bruh. The preconceived notion that it was going to be exlusively action was partially because I was reading this back to back with Girls of the Wild (same creator as Noblesse and Eleceed) and when I chose manhwas back then I really just had no standard, I base off of how interesting the cover and title seemed and how promising the art style's looks to be. If I did go the extra mile to read the synopsis, I think the excerpt was making it up to be a good story (that or my young brain had innuendos flying over my head, who knows).

So yeah, I just recalled it again. I think the story's completed now, I'm not promising that it's still good, or good at all in the first place since I was relatively new to like actual manhwas that aren't out of the Webtoon explore page which at the time was pretty bleak and those from Mangatoon Webcomic etc. ykwim. I had no idea Lezhin or the forbidden sites had existed. Basically, though the breadth of my reading experience was fairly extensive (bro has been following Lookism for a longgg time), the range was narrow–if that makes any sense–and as a result, I haven't fully curated what I liked or what was impressive or of quality.

I don't think I'll pick it up again. Though I am a bit curious as to what happened after the update I stopped on, as I think the story was just at its climax then (I am not apologising for this wonderful sentence). I'm at peace with this being a comfortable memory. Lol, it was fun to reminisce.

Companies using """"""""AI"""""""" chatbots in place of customer service (usually with a veneer of pretending you are actually speaking to a real person, which might not be so immediately obvious to more tech illiterate people) pisses me off so bad because they are just SO fundamentally useless. The only information it can tell you is information more efficiently communicated with a FAQ page, and information that is Wrong because current chatbot technology is, in fact, not even slightly 'intelligent' and pretty damn bad at giving accurate answers to anything but the simplest questions.

Like there's no point to it besides hoping onto the flashy artificial 'intelligence' gimmick and paying for less customer service work hours, and so many companies will not only have this feature but make their actual customer service prohibitively difficult to find (and usually involving a labyrinth of automated phone menu systems that you have to navigate correctly in order to get to a person). Makes me want to kill.
