I was debating whether to post this or not because it is fanworks and I would rather keep this blog strictly official, but this is too funny not to share. I was browsing Jarvis Dean's Instagram, responsible for most if not all of All Saint Street's promotional artwork (also the one that made "that" Lynn/Nick New Years photo) to find this Evan/Neil fanart with the caption "Thanks to bilibili user “高音绵羊” for creating “Ballet Goat Lake” show. starring Ivan and Neil, and then I drew this...." I was curious and googled 高音绵羊 bilibili to find this:

A fan remake of the swan story told by Lily in episode 35, with Neil as the swan (in this case goat) princess and Evan as the Prince (feat Nick as the Demon King)

It's amazingly well made! The art is so close to the original, and the voice actor did a great job imitating Neil and Evan. Please check it out!

Bestiaryposting Results -- Gligglae

Sorry this is later than usual; traveling for the holidays makes it difficult to keep up with this sort of thing. The smart move would have been to write it up a couple days ahead of time, then on Monday just update it with anything new that had been posted since, but see, what happened was that I did not do that. Instead, I tried to type this up Monday evening in between various family obligations, realized I didn't have time to do it properly, and just shoved it in my drafts. Then all of Tuesday was taken up with the long drive back home from where my family lives, and now you're getting it on Wednesday.

(Also, don't worry, I followed all CDC guidelines appropriate for someone who had recently had covid, and wouldn't have traveled for the holidays at all if I hadn't been without a fever for 48 hours prior to departing. Plus I drove instead of flying, didn't visit anyone but immediate family, and had a mask the whole time, so even if I am still contagious somehow, exposure was pretty minimal.)

I think a larger number of people than usual identified the animal in question right off the proverbial bat, because this one has some pretty blatant tells, but as always I appreciate everyone trying to put it out of their minds.

So, anyway, in rough chronological order:

@coolest-capybara (link to post here) (thank you for providing your own alt text, I really appreciate it) brings us her usual impeccably medieval-stylized rendition -- the swirls and curves in this one give it a really interesting vibe, I think. We can see the Gligglae in full-body profile on the left there, and a group of them doing their cluster behavior on the right. The, like, griffin/cockatrice/vampire look is pretty great, also. I enjoy the overall design, which you can find some discussion of in the linked post. Gold foil also a nice touch.

Coolest-capybara also notes that the entry is very interested in the ways in which the creature is "almost, but not quite, entirely unlike a bird," and I can explain why that is. It is because this entry is in the Bird section of the bestiary, so officially this is a bird -- I mean, it flies, what else can it be -- but it's sufficiently un-bird-like that it really sticks out to the authors, so they need to explain the ways in which it's Doing Bird Wrong. Everything else in this section does X, so we need to point out that this one does Y, kind of thing.

@silverhart-makes-art (link to post here) has drawn an absolutely adorable little Gligglae. (Adorable if you have my sense of aesthetics, that is -- I suspect if you're among the portion of the population that finds aye-ayes more creepy-looking than cute, that might apply here as well.) There's an explanation of design decisions in the linked post, including a number of references to real animals that provided inspiration. I like the decision to play up the "lowly" and "mean" part of the description by making it small and kind of scruffy. And the general concept of blending "gliding rodent" with "nocturnal primate" to make an arboreal mammal with elements of both really worked out well here, in my opinion.

@aethereaii (link to post here) has done this beautiful piece in a style that kind of gives "19th-century naturalist" vibes. (Actually, it makes me think of James Gurney, but I suspect that association says more about my childhood reading habits than anything else.) This is a great design in my opinion, and you can find some brief discussion on design decisions as well as an earlier version of the Gligglae in the linked post. The earlier design is also very good, but I agree with Aethereaii that this one is a step up, particularly with the Anomalocaris-inspired faux-wings. I also really like the inclusion of the juvenile Gligglae (Gligglings?) clinging to their parent's back in the corner there.

@karthara (link to post here) decided to go in a reptilian direction with this one, which (a) works well and (b) caused me to spend a chunk of time reading about flying snakes on Wikipedia just now. So in this version, the "rowing motion with its skin" is a description of the Gligglae flaring its ribs and undulating through the air -- which I genuinely think really makes sense. The entry seems to legitimately disagree with itself about whether this critter has wings (or, taking it entirely literally, it has wings but flies through a completely separate method that specifically does not involve said wings, which I think we're justified in deciding is Wrong), so I think going with such a non-wing-like flight method works here. Also like the concept of making these very cuddly (and apparently loving, according to our bestiary author) creatures into a type of animal that usually isn't seen that way. The linked post also contains some brief notes on design decisions.

@strixcattus (link to post here) has, as per usual, provided a really excellent modern-naturalistic description of the creature they've designed in the linked post, and you should definitely go check it out right now. I'll wait.

... back? Okay good. I particularly like their interpretation of the "grape-cluster" behavior as a social group that's specifically not a kin group; and also the fact that said group is officially referred to as a "cuddle". The choice to make it a whole genus and show us several different wild and domesticated species, also very good, love it. As with several of these drawings, Strixcattus's Gligglae (Gligglaes?) are extremely cute -- which, really, does also fit the description provided in the entry. They're like tadpoles crossed with sugar gliders.

@cheapsweets (link to post here) credits Ken Sugimori's Pokemon illustrations as a stylistic inspiration, which I suppose explains why the Gligglae cluster seems to be hanging from a Sudowoodo. The linked post also draws certain parallels between medieval bestiaries and the Pokedex, which I think is actually pretty insightful. There's also a breakdown of their design decisions there, go read it. I think this is a pretty good rendering of something that is like a flying squirrel but distinctly not a flying squirrel, and I like the shaggy look of the fur.

@pomrania (link to post here) is, I think, the only person to take the bestiary author at their word that this animal has wings but flies through some other, non-wing-related method. You can see the tiny useless wings at the shoulder there. I really think that's fascinating as a concept: what evolutionary pressures would produce an animal that (a) has wings and (b) flies but (c) those two things are unrelated? Although this many appendages on a fur-bearing creature puts us firmly in the "alien biology" territory, so maybe it's silly to expect it to make sense by the standards of terrestrial biology. Regardless, I like it, and I think the decision to run with the "rowing" description by giving it those oar-shaped appendages is a good & creative one. The post linked above contains a fair bit of information on design decisions and the drawing process here -- there are sketches and everything.

@vindikat (link to post here) has interpreted this in a way I find really charming. The art is of course excellent, very well drawn, and I appreciate the effort that went into doing these different poses. However, I really like it from a worldbuilding perspective: this gives me the impression of a small species of griffin that's adapted to urban living, more pigeon/cat than eagle/lion. (Come to think, both pigeons and cats are examples of feral populations finding a successful niche, rather than wild ones that adapt to a city, so maybe we can speculate that these guys are also descended from domestic ancestors.) Also the Gligglae under the eaves there remind me of pictures of chimney swifts that have made the rounds on Tumblr.

The design is also generally very appealing; I think the extra wings and the long tail really work here. The linked post includes an explanation of the design decisions that I think is worth taking a look at.

@moustawott (link to post here) has given us another very cuddly version of the Gligglae. I particularly like the wing design here, how it's kind of a mammalian version of a pterosaur -- Moustawott indicates that they were specifically trying not to draw the animal that they're sure this is, and I think the pterosaur-squirrel design here is a great way to make something that could fill kind of the same niche while being an unmistakably distinct creature. The little round head and eye markings remind me of a chipmunk, also, which is cute.

@rautavaara (link to post here) continues to do interesting stylistic stuff with their contributions. I like how the limited color palette here makes this look kind of like a single-block woodcut or similar relief printing. Like, you could plausibly see this as a design someone's carved into a wood block, then printed on mustard-yellow paper with purple ink. (I'm actually not 100% sure that's not what it is; I would just be surprised if someone actually went the extra mile of breaking out the engraving tools for my little bestiaryposting thing.) Very dynamic scene, also, and a charming creature design; love the huge mouths with pointy little fangs.

Yep, it's the bat. Oddly human face on that one, and generally I don't think this was drawn from life, but it's definitely a bat.

I do kind of find the way it's described in this entry kind of interesting, though. The confusion about whether bats count as having wings (even after having been placed in the "bird" category) is kind of odd, and the "rowing" description is not one I would have ever thought of. I very much like the declaration that the way bats huddle together is "an act of love of a sort which is difficult to find among men"; it's a sweet way to talk about a creature with a generally negative reputation, which contrasts interestingly with the fact that the author also thinks of them as "lowly" and "mean". You kind of get the idea of a creature that's a bit wretched but in a sympathetic way. "Scrungly", one might say.

I’m not sure if you’ve read the new Tiana graphic novel but made a note I wanted to share with you since you have more knowledge of Tiana in other stories.

I liked the story but something that bothered me is Lottie tagging along (i mean thanks girl for the apartment hook-up) while Naveen stays behind. Like they’re married and Naveen would’ve LOVED being in Harlem in the midst of the Harlem Renaissance. And they were apart for months and we didnt even get a phone call scene or anything. 😞

I noticed that every Disney story in which Tiana goes abroad, it’s never just them as a couple. Either Lottie tags along with them or Naveen gets left behind. Does it have to do with some Disney policy that I’m missing?

PS I LOVED Eudora’s diary bits and sketches of her time in NYC

When we got the sneak peek of the GN months ago, I ran the text through google translate (the text was in German) just because I had nothing better to do lol! And from those few panels I got that vibe.

I was afraid that the story would then be all about Lottie, which thankfully it wasn't. Still, there were so many opportunities for this book to be better.

Naveen would definitely have loved Harlem!! And it would have been a great opportunity for us as readers to see more of it! We hardly saw anything, and then when we did it was all full of white people?? Through the whole book I was hoping that we would get a letter, a phone call, a surprise visit, or even a goodbye scene at the train - ANYTHING! But it was like Tiana forgot she had a husband once she left NOLA. I think she only mentions him once in passing in her diary. It's was disappointing and felt kind of OOC. Like she was working super hard again, which she learned a lesson about in the movie?? That Naveen helped her with?? And they brought balance to each other??

But I absolutely agree with your ask, and is something I worry about with any new patf story. Lottie tends to take up a lot of space in these stories that, for other princesses, would be filled with their love interest. I guess it's slightly different because Tiana is really the only princess that has a friend that is not an animal, but it's frustrating! Because even when all three are together, Naveen still gets pushed to the side.

I feel like there is so little official art of Tiana and Naveen together AS HUMANS. It's gotten a lot better over the years, and yet I still feel like we've been shafted time and time again. But maybe I feel that way just because I'm bitter lol? I'd love to hear if others feel the same way.

So I am worried about the Tiana show. Naveen is the deuteragonist of the movie, so he should be for the show! I just hope that any subplot that Lottie has (bc of course she will be there, ugh) will be so small that I can easily skip over it and it won't matter.

But back to the GN - I thought it was okay. I liked the art style, and Tiana is super cute in so many of the panels. What we saw of Harlem was a HUGE let down, and the 'friend' she made there is a trainwreck. Eudora's diary entries were probably the best part of the whole thing tbh.

Part 2.

-- Was the design of "Yu~topia Katsuki" that we see in the first part of the story one of those early prepared settings?

M: Yes. Designs of this type were almost all already there, when I joined the team. When I first saw [the setting materials], I thought "Whao, so many small things! Is it really okay?" I draw line arts mostly by hand, but other staff members use computers for everything. Seiki-san uses mechanical pencil and there were a lot of very minute instructions attached to his designs. Well, I could draw that, but people who use computers don't even have pencils on them. They draw everything, even line arts, using computers. At first, I was worried that the art style would be too different. But with so many things to draw, it was impossible to draw everything by hand anyways, not without a person on the team that would only do that, so we decided to use computers, but try to make the art style look as close to hand-drawings as possible. And it was generally agreed, that it would be okay. There was no other way to do that.

-- To make the nuance that something was originally draw by hand still visible in the art style, right?

M: Yeah, it was difficult. I've been drawing a lot of Disney for a long time, so I draw line arts very precisely. But Tamura-san doesn't, or should I say - he draws very "loose" lines, so for me it was even more difficult, to copy that. When I felt the need to, unconsciously, I drew more precise lines, and in case of the first PV, I was told by the Director to better copy the art style of Tamura-san and draw fewer, more rough lines. After you get used to it, you know you should just not draw too much, but we unconsciously did, and then you look at your work, like "um, seems kind of like too many lines...". But in the beginning, we really did our best to copy Tamura-san's art style. Because, it would be impossible to do that after the had production started. I think we managed to learn to copy him to an acceptable level, and nobody felt that something's off in the art style.

I Don't Know Which One is Love Volume 1 Review

Note - This Manga currently has not been officially translated, you should bother Manga companies to release Volume 1 then buy it if you end up liking it too.

So this is a manga I saw on Pixiv randomly browsing Yuri and then I had to find scanslations cuz this art featured above made me think, "Poly lesbians, I'm in". It didn't end up being that but a lesbian Harem manga which has potential to go into the Polyamarous route, I hope it does but for Volume 1, I accept a bit of monogamy brain. Plus it's by the creator of Cheery Amnesia which is the series that helped me start to deal with my fear of memory loss and just a story I love a lot.

The story starts off by showing a bit of lesbian reality, the protagonist getting rejected by her long term crush in high school when she finds out she got a boyfriend. Her dreams and heart crushed she is determined to get a girlfriend as she enters college. 5 women meet her each of which instantly start to fall for her. Some are more blunt while others are more subdued, we get a look at each in their own chapter with chapter 1 and chapter 6 being chapters where we get to see a higher amount of the girls and even a little bit of the interaction. There is a flow between the girls in her new college life and it moves smoothly.

Romance here is very fast pace, our protagonist is in love instantly and most the women are falling for her instantly and falling deeper the most they hang out. So far we haven't gone super super deep into any character but we have seen some interiority for each of the 5 women. I really enjoy the blazing hot pace and much prefer it to slow burn and this is a thing that really makes this series stand out to me. The first volume ending with someone asking her to be her girlfriend and then another girl walking into the room.

I think this story really shows a cute sense of humor, gags are mostly in over the top reactions and great facial reactions but it's solid for a story that is trying to keep a fast pace, it doesn't need big jokes. The art style is very cute but not in a way that makes the horniness creepy, everyone is clearly an adult and drawn like them. As of chapter 7 the horny doesn't turn into sex and it is mostly people desiring other people. I like that each girl represents on of the 5 senses in their desire for Mei [our protag], it's a cute way to short hand a difference in attraction. It's rare to get a bigger look into desire and it is something most harems totally fail to do.

This story features Student/Teacher relationships as one of the 5 relationships. While it doesn't bother me at all when their both adults and as of this volume because of the power dynamics she actively choses to not go further with the student, yet. I know this is a very potentially triggering subject so I think anyone going in should know, hey if you don't like this, it's there maybe skip this one. I should also warn that there is a character who is not really following consentful boundaries, our protagonist likes it and is pretty happy about it but still this is also potentially upsetting.

Personally I really loved this manga and I really want to see more of it, I hope it's successful. I have worries about a potential forced "I can only have one GF" route as a polyam as fuck girl I can't relate to that. What I can relate to is a bunch of girls being in love with me and me loving them back. I really hope to see more of that going forward but this volume served as a perfect introduction to the characters an world and I hope we can see these loves all develop and bloom.

Would love to hear your review of Artfol once you've settled in a bit! (Probably wouldn't hurt for me to have a more presentable art archive somewhere either, so I'm curious about the alternatives)

of course!! after using artfol for about a week, i do like it! it's still very new, so i wasn't expecting too much off rip from it but it definitely has some good potential if it gets successful!

putting this under a read more because, as per usual, this got long.

to start: the good stuff! good, robust organization thus far for artists. all the art you post gets automatically put in its own separate tab on your profile called gallery in chronological order and any other art and text posts that you share as well as your own art and text posts get put into another tab called feed. the feed is in chronological order from newest to oldest and it's suuuuper nice being able to have an easy place that contains all your original work people can go to without the hassle of punching in specific tags in a search bar (or inputting them into the website url) and hoping for the best. the feed can then be further organized between posts and art, art submitted to challenges, art submitted to submissions and reshares of other peoples stuff.

you can also make collections for your own gallery, so you can have all your fan art in one collection, ocs in another, etc. this isn't just for personal organization either; your separate collections are displayed under the about section on your profile or, if you've got them, links section! i honestly like this a lot. most of my experience of running an art blog comes from tumblr and getting separate pages set up on your blog, while not horribly difficult, does require a bit of knowledge regarding html and manually inputting website urls where you want the links to go. having all of this steam lined is much better. all of this is relatively easy to figure out as long as you're open to just clicking buttons on the website to see what they do, as far as i could find there's no official tutorial available. you can only have a limited number of these without a premium subscription but i haven't a clue as to what that limit even is.

you can also effectively pin certain art pieces that you're proud of to the top of your gallery by putting them in a featured selection. no idea how to do this yet but i do think this in of itself is neat.

customization is light but they cover the basics well. they've got a nice bio and announcement/secondary heading type feature under your username that you can customize, as well as a nice big space for an icon and a big ol' banner you can put your art in. other than that, you can choose a 'theme color' as artfol calls it but it just determines the color of the bar under your banner as far as i can tell on the website version. they also have a separate area for links that automatically turn into the websites icon you're linking back to.

custom warning tags!!! these fully blur the image and you can put as many words to warn others about the content of the art as you want to clarify what someone's getting into if they click show. at first i was worried i could only put one custom warning on an image but nope, it lets you write multiple warnings on the censored image if the NSFW and Gore filters aren't cutting it for the art.

speaking of which; artfol allows NSFW! in places where online spaces have been getting progressively sanitized because big corporations and google ad sense are the ones who can pay the bills of hosting thousands of images and videos on servers, it's nice to see that.

the challenges! other artists can issue challenges to others to either draw their characters in certain outfits, as certain creatures, drawing a piece of art in your style, etc. think some of the various art memes floating around on twitter, except this time they have their own dedicated category! i haven't done any challenges yet but this seems like a great way to socialize with other artists on artfol, as well as stretch your own art skills.

AI art is explicitly banned.

there is an algorithm however it prioritizes art made recently, so artists of all skill level and mediums get a shot at being seen on the front page which is nice! as far as i can tell, your home feed (which is very similar to tumblr's) is in chronological order and doesn't put in any suggested or recommended posts in the middle of the posts of the people you've chosen to follow. the like and share options are easily accessible and when you share someone else's art, it notifies them by telling them that you've pinged them which is... odd to me, but the website doesn't seem to auto credit them any other way in reshares (in contrast, tumblr keeps the OP's username and icon at the top of their own original post when it gets reblogged). i'm also something of a tumblr hermit so this could be a common reshare (reblog?) format else where for all i know and i'm just griping about nothing.

there is a premium subscription you can sign up for as i mentioned earlier. you get stuff like no ads (which you also get if you've got an adblocker on your browser), more collections can be made, you can upload cover art (icons, i think?) for your collections and the art you post, you can have custom profile theme colors (i guess they let you use the color wheel or a hex code instead of the pre seleced colors they already have?) you get more layouts for your featured art on your profile and you don't have to wait 60 days to change your username. oh, and you can make groups that people can join based around one particular thing, however i haven't touched any groups yet because none of them are all that appealing to me.

honestly, a lot of the premium subscription perks are very inconsequential to the core functionality of artfol which is a huuuuge bonus to the devs in my eyes. they easily could have paywalled commission pages or collections all together and them just giving you some extra customization perks instead shows me that the devs are actually focused on making an artist friendly website and app.

over all, artfol is relatively easy to navigate and upload your art to! the base features are solid however the website does have some downsides.

the bad:

the most egregious thing is that I haven't been able to and currently can't access the content guidelines or privacy policy pages. when I first signed up, artfol gave me a link to what the website claimed was the content guidelines however it just linked me to the news page and that really didn't sit well with me.

because the artfol website is so new, I am going to give them a chance and interpret this in the best faith possible and assume that it seems like this is just an issue of certain pages crashing, seeing as I used to be able to access the News page on artfol and now it's just gone like the other pages. on top of that, it seems like every link except for their twitter, android and apple download links, instagram and discord links at the bottom of the artfol website page is broken in the same way. out of all pages eating themselves the content guidelines and privacy policy ones feel like the worse ones to lose. I haven't been able to access the guidelines from the jump and it's been really frustrating. I just got done sending an e-mail to their contact e-mail, so hopefully something good comes from that. in the mean time i've also downloaded the app to try to see if i can find the guidelines and privacy policy on there. I've noticed people complaining about crashing pages in the mobile app reviews so hopefully this is just a case of a website page accidentally eating itself and it's just very unfortunate coincidence that it happens to be some very important pages affected by the crashes.

other than that, the other downsides are that the website takes like a minute and a half to load, clicking on a censored image to view it on your home feed takes you to the individual post and has you un-censor it there rather than directly from your home feed and some features are currently only available to mobile accounts such as commissions tabs, however i'm sure that will eventually be made available to the website version as well in due time. also, while uploading art, not including the custom censor tag or NSFW or gore filters, you can only put 5 tags on your art. these are all only minor annoyances and i'm sure they'll eventually be fixed in upcoming patches.

over all: asides from some concerning hiccups with missing pages, artfol seems very promising for a relatively new, bare bones website! the developers have very much taken a mobile app first, website later approach which at least to me isn't the end of the world, seeing how the website is already doing okay all things considered. the community seems nice and i'm planning on trying out some challenges soon to get more experience using it!

Raven

🌟 Drop one of my characters’ names in my inbox and I’ll tell you 10 facts about them 🌟

Raven choosing to switch his fighting style from sword fighting to archery largely had to do with Casey. It also had to do with knowing that he was free to be a different person as Raven than who he was as Schwann. He also used what he remembered of Casey's artes when he learned to use a bow. Admittedly, Garnet Chaos was always an intimidating arte for him to potentially tackle. It was the arte Casey used to try and save him during the war, so it took him a long time to even consider learning it himself. Eventually, though, he did.

A lot of his perceived perverted nature is largely an act. A part of the mask he wears as Raven, one could say. It also reflects a bit back on who he was long before he was Schwann. A tiny piece of his oldest life he allowed to carry over into his identity as Raven. He isn't really that way anymore, so doesn't really play it up as much as he could.

Raven does enjoy a good drink. No denying that. He doesn't go out of his way to get drunk off his ass or anything, though.

While Raven isn't particularly fond of eating sweets himself, he does know how to make them pretty well. Usually he doesn't go out of his way to make them unless he's asked. He'll save making them for special occasions. Mostly Valentine's Day and things like that.

He's well aware of the bird symbolism that surrounds him. Schwann's name being derived from swans, Raven from the obvious. He thinks Alexei picked out the name Schwann for him not for typical swans, but black swans. He isn't unaware of their particular symbolism, which isn't too different from what most people associate with ravens. He acknowledges the death symbolism of both, but finds some comfort in what other things ravens symbolize.

Even though his friends accepted him back as one of their own after everything that happened, Raven still does carry guilt over the part he played in Alexei ending up capturing Estelle. For the most part, by the end of the game he's moved past it. Before that point, though, he isn't quite sure how to live with himself. Self preservation and self care may have gotten put on the back burner on a few different occasions. He tries not to make the others worry about him, though.

Due to the nature of Raven's blastia, it was unaffected by the events of the end of the game. It's powered by his life force, after all. He knows it likely is the only working blastia left, or at least one of the only ones, and it only works because it's powered by his own stupid body. He does still hate the thing. He never asked to be brought back to life by Alexei. Still, he knows he's alive for a reason. So even if he doesn't like the thing keeping him around, he does what he can to make the most of what time he's got. If nothing else, he owes it to himself since he has one of the few working blastia.

His blastia gives off a pretty constant glow, hidden beneath his clothing. He chose the colors he wears specifically to try and keep it hidden. It must have worked better than he thought, considering the surprise he was met with when everyone found out the reason he's still alive and all. He still does what he can to hide it.

Raven never liked the celebrations related to the Great War. He never really liked anything having to do with his role as Schwann, but always showed up to the celebrations when it was required of him and when he was able to. Sometimes he could make excuses to not go. But not always.

After the events of the game, Raven continues to help out Brave Vesperia. He doesn't know for sure if he's an officially recognized member of the guild, but he does what he can to keep helping out. He also just wants to do what he can to help Karol, Yuri, Judith, and any future members they gain out.

Weekly Update March 1, 2024

I’m not doing the best this week but I’m also not doing the worst. I’ve not been sleeping well and I think it’s culminating today so slightly early update post just in case I fall asleep early tonight. I’ve had on and off moodiness and flareups but not a whole lot of surgery sickness, hoping next week will be the same. I think this week was a lot of semester stress, which makes it hard to take care of myself. I just ate three applesauces and next week is spring break, so I should have a bit of breathing room for more art stuff. Just in time for my art block to maybe be giving way. All I gotta do is get caught up on sleep, which I’ll try to start tonight.

So I’ve been trying to put more brain power into actual Oc story writing stuff this week. I have the little comic I’m working on in the background and that’s going a bit slower than I’d like but I’m still making progress and reviewing over it there’s fewer older pages needing redo than I’d thought. I’m also now officially through the second act of the episode/chapter/ w/e, so the third should move smoothly. Scenes are flowing nicer than I thought they would, generally going pretty good.

I also finally think my animation art block is giving way. Clip studio is good for flowier animation so I’d like to combine it with flash for any actual big animation projects I try to pick up but on it’s own it’s fine for smaller ones. I might do some more sketch style test animations for unfamiliar movements, and eventually I’ll need to do a test for one with lineart and color layers. The interface is not user friendly at all but I did figure out how to do it the way I had wanted. Not planning on doing any shaded animations though, shading will have to be done with after effects somehow. I’ll round up ideas for test animations tonight because I’m very headfoggy today so I doubt I’ll be able to throw music together.

I’ll definitely do a quick little gif for the bigger song I finished, I’ll try to get going on the next one, but for the time being I might finish up some half baked covers. I’ve fiddled with vocaloid more now, have two half finished vocal parts I’m using to test out how the English and Japanese banks work with English songs. Japanese bank is working better than I thought, but it’s annoying having to play with the dynamic and exciter settings for certain consonants, and the limited vowel selection also sucks, but it’s not like the English banks have basically the same issues too. I just need to play with settings a bit more, finish writing out the vocal parts (should basically be copy paste at this point, I’m already through one chorus of each), and throw together instrumentals to go with them, but I picked songs with simple instrumentals anyway, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get a skeletal structure ready, then I can fill it in with piano or violin because I can’t go two songs without either I’m addicted.

Music comic and animation are the main things I did this week but I am slowly getting my updated commission sheet together. I’ll probably start timing myself on smaller songs so I can try to add music options properly. Animation comms would be nice too but that’ll definitely be a ways off.

I did make unexpected progress writing an epithet TTRPG campaign, it’s like mostly structured, but maps minis and some encounters still need to get written. I might sit down to do that over break. I’m more certain now that I’ll need to take people online as players but I’ll wait until I’m closer to run before I make a google form for that

I’m going to try to either spend tonight with friends or go to bed early or both. I’m a bit worried about my body because flareups have been getting bad but tomorrow I don’t have to move my legs at all beyond doing laundry so I should be fine. If plans for both fall through I’ll either watch a movie or cartoon (I don’t do very often but if I indulge in media I can improve my writing skills) or draw or both. Tomorrow is walled off for homework though I don’t think I’ll be able to do much else.

i have always suspected the ideological inconsistency at play in fandom (that is, a lot of people build their morality entirely along lines of what affects them personally and not on any attempt to be objective or consistent) but man the way people are reacting to the OTW statement about AI is putting it into really depressing light lol. at the end of the day 1. you can't draw a line between what's “real art” and what isn't 2. you don't actually know whether a work was made by AI or not unless the person posting it tags it as such (which they should and which we should encourage by not harassing those works, because harassment never works) 3. invariably people who are putting effort into creating works but who have the wrong kinds of writing styles will be accused of being AI 4. it's impossible to monitor everything that is posted to ao3 and the manpower required to do so is unsustainable and unethical

as such, for the OTW to make us a promise they can't keep—that they will ban AI-generated works—would be far more stupid than just being upfront about their inability to do so and their commitment to mitigating the effects. it's concerning how much people seem far more invested in receiving a comforting platitude or some pointless performance of agreement with their values. like i think at this point what would please people most (without ao3 changing their stance) is hearing “well we can't protect you but we really want to and we hate AI generated works too!! don't worry guys we're super against them even if we can't do anything about that” but stated a bit more officially. and that's incredibly stupid to me, because i don't care how the OTW feels about AI, i care about knowing what exactly is possible for them to do about it and whether they want to do it. and currently the answer to the former seems to be “not much, without causing more problems than it would solve” and “yes, but not what everyone wants us to be doing” a lot of what people suggest to not have AI generated fanfic on the archive is wildly unreachable so i don't get the persistent demand that the OTW claim to want to do it even if they don't actually carry it out. like what's the point

One thing I love so much about orv is the writing style. SS has such a beautiful writing style that I get absorbed into orv whenever I open my kindle.

Orv doesn't have a single meaning, the scenes we interpret do not have a single interpretation and I love that. Different aspects have different interpretations and I believe that’s really beautiful for a book to have different interpretations and invoke thought.

Sometimes I’ll sit and think about a scene in orv and come up with my own interpretation, how it made me feel then open twitter and see someone with something different and it makes me think more. I read the thread wanting to know why they think like that? What did you see that I didn’t? And seeing different opinions (the good ones, not the hateful ones some assholes drop) make me really happy. Maybe it’s cause my brain can’t rest and refuses to stop at my interpretation but I have to say SS really made a piece of art!

Orv would make literature teachers cry cause it can be interpreted in so many ways (gone with ‘the curtain is blue as a symbol of sadness’).

Another good thing about Orv having such an open to interpretation style is that spoilers don’t pull me off. I haven’t finished it but can talk about it for a more than reasonable length (Apologies to my younger brother as I spent well over an hour explaining why kdj and yjh are life and death companions last week) because I’ve seen so many takes and opinions on twitter.

Hell twitter was the final push that made me pick it up (shoutout toapollo their jd sleeping beauty au led me down the orv rabbit hole). Seeing the ‘spoilers’ on twitter piqued my curiosity and made me search for a way to read orv and here I am on tumblr.

I wanted to know why are jd known as ‘life and death companions’? Why does 49% and 51% trigger people? Why is my tl filled with kdj’s 24 inch waist? (I believe his waist is AT MOST 26 inches) With so many whys, threads explaining shit after I liked ONE AU I picked it up for myself and I can say starting Orv is the best and worst thing I’ve ever done to myself.

I can confidently say orv is indeed the bane of my existence and the object of my desires (head in hands begging for an official English translation so I can buy it ) Orv didn’t pull me out of a reading slump, it put me in multiple but they’re the most pleasant slumps I’ve had cause I don’t want to finish reading it but I also can’t wait to finish it so I’ve decided to stall my suffering and take it at an extremely slow pace.

The topic of interpretation comes from lsk encouraging kdj’s love for books! Lsk encouraged kdj to reread books when he’s done because there’s always more to it than what you saw in the first read. He could reread a book and focus on someone else’s pov and get an entirely new story from something so simple :) I’m not a fan of rereading books (I’ve tried and just can’t so it’s one of the reasons I stick to ebooks cause I don’t have to worry about getting rid of books I’ll no longer read ( ◠‿◠ ) )

Orv might have been about that one reader’s pov (sobs) but it sure made me think of things from others’ pov! It took being empathetic to another level and made me want to understand these characters and not just understand their love for that rat bastard {affectionate}.

I wanted to understand why these people kept going when it looked like all was lost. They’re living in an apocalypse for goodness sake and they’re still trying to survive??? I’d look for the quickest and least painful way to end it all cause I wouldn’t see a way out and even if I did see one who says I’d struggle to get it?? Do they keep moving just to survive? Why do they struggle when a peaceful death sounds appealing? (if it’s not obvious I’m a weak ass bitch and can’t imagine facing a scenario )

There’s something in them that makes them move even before they met kdj. Maybe it’s the fear of death? Maybe it’s hope? Maybe it’s the desire to live even when it seems impossible? Maybe it’s something I haven’t thought of?? Who knows?? (SS probably but this ain’t about them :) )

JD HAS DIFFERENT INTERPRETATIONS AS WELL

There are people that ship jd and see romantic intentions behind their actions (they’re married your honour) and there are people that have chosen to interpret these actions as outstanding companionship (history will say they were best friends) and that’s fine!

To my knowledge, SS hasn’t confirmed anything but best believe jd is married with biyoo as their daughter and living together with a nice house in the suburbs free from all scenarios and just enjoying domestic married life to me. Jd has caused so much commotion in the fandom that it’s funny. Like damn it’s not my fault I see two married men (life and death companions is a wedding vow???!) and other people see besto friendos ٩( ᐛ )و

Yes and no! (and don't worry about spamming me with asks lol, I'm actually having a lot more fun with this AU than I thought I would!)

I would say that Sayu and Aoi would stay relatively the same personality-wise. Maybe Aoi goes through an arc that makes them kinder, but since Aoi and Sayu were one of the first mermaids made, I can see their base personalities already being pretty fleshed out through Remi's art and possibly comics and animations.

Yua was probably a work in progress that got changed before finally being officially inducted into the mermaid project because of Gwen becoming her voice actor (and possibly this would mean that Yua would also use note/notes pronouns if Gwen would end up feeling comfortable with that happening).

Renho and Haru's personalities can definitely be changed since they came out later in the project. They would better fit Peni and Margo's voice acting style (like Renho being a bit less shy and reserved), but wouldn't be too far off as Remi probably had a whole idea of how things would go and I can see the team listening to him on how he wants the mermaids as they were technically his original project (sometimes the team doesn't want to say anything because they think it might upset Remi but Remi honestly doesn't mind and is always willing to work with them. Just teenagers anxieties sometimes getting the better of all of them).

This does go into the idea that the mermaids need to represent their voice actors, which isn't always true! Not every voice actor is represented in the character, which is how you get voice actors like Tara Strong or Jennifer Hale who have really large voice acting pools with characters of all different designs and personalities.

However, the voice actor can influence the character creation, like how Neon J's voice actor ended up helping inspire the personality a bit more during development. I think that is what I heard, where Muhammad Zulhilmi said he added some singing to his audition tape or something and the company loved it and so made Neon J a but more outgoing and stuff.

So yes, the mermaid project is definitely not going to be exactly the same as the mermaid club, but it won't be ENTIRELY different. Designs might change a little bit, but overall the roles of the characters is probably going to stay relatively the same.

Now, the thing that sucks about this, is that I SOMEHOW still haven't fully thought of the mermaid club's personalities. Not to great extent at least. So trying to think how their voice actors and the teams more diverse workers would change the mermaids is hard for me to do lol.

Like I see Sayu as a leader type, very extroverted and always wanting to help others. Basic main character kind of stuff. Probably a bit like Steven from Steven Universe where he is always putting other people first and preaching about peace and love. Wanting to talk about problems instead of fighting but able to fight if necessary.

Aoi is more of a mean girl stereotype who becomes friends with the main character. Or is already friends with the main character and nice to them but can be mean to anyone who isn't a friend. A bit snappy and snarky. Quick witted but also probably hides a small temper (which you are right this doesn't fit Gayatri's personality, but for some reason I can see her having a voice that would fit this personality).

Yua and Haru are pretty similar for me for some reason. I see them as goofs and silly, but in different ways. Yua is more like a class clown who wants attention and is willing to make herself look silly, while Haru is a bit more mean spirited and willing to make someone else the butt of the joke thinking it's all well and good but is willing to apologize if things go too far. Haru and Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony seems like a good fit in personality type for what I am going for (don't have a character idea for Aoi or Haru).

Then there's Renho who I always saw as very much a shy introvert. Probably brought into the friend group last but brings a lot of care to the group. Tries to keep things from spiraling out of control but also willing to join in on the fun. Probably the most anxious but also the one to stick by a friend no matter what even if scared. I think a toned down Shaggy from Scooby Doo is probably a good fit. Like, a very loyal friend and helps out even if they don't want to. I don't know.

The problem is that I need to make them a lot more concrete and separate from each other. Which I guess was my mistake when first creating them. It doesn't help that the image I based them off of made it look like Renho and Yua were super outgoing while makign Haru and Aoi look like some kind of villains for the story.

So yeah, I still need to just sit down one day and flesh out the personalities for each mermaid a lot more. I have Aoi's and Renho's down pretty good, but Yua and Haru being really close in personalities isn't something I particularly like. At least if they are both the comic relief of the group I need to make them more distinguished from each other.

It's like with 1010 honestly, each one has their role and how they are supposed to act on stage. Rin is the strong leader, Purl is the quiet and cool one, and Zimelu is the rough and tough one. Haym is supposed to be the innocent one and Eloni the funny one, but I run into the same problem with those two as I do with Haru and Yua, because I want Haym to also be a jokester.

Haym and Eloni are supposed to play off each other really well, while also Haym and Zimelu play off each other really well. But having two little clowns seems like doubling up. So Haym is stuck in this middle grey area of being the innocent one but also trying to be funny (and honestly I can see Haym being the first to try and break from his role because being the innocent one probably came with a lot of infantalization from the fans he hated).

And that is where Haru and Yua are at. They are in a grey area right now that I don't like. At least with 1010 I can spin that grey area as Haym literally trying to break out of his role. With Haru and Yua's grey area, I don't even want it to be there in the story, which is why I try to offset the goofy nature of Haru by making sear a bit more mean spirited, but then THAT is a problem because that makes a grey area between Haru and Aoi.

I'm just ranting now, sorry about that! I think what I should do is do some small redesigns for the mermaids (nothing major, I actually love my designs a lot) but while doing that try to think more of what role I want Haru to be in. I'm content with basically the rest. It is just Haru who I don't really know what to do with.

I am willing to let Yua not be the super goofy one, maybe she can be that super supportive friend or the little gossip girl while Haru is the jokester, or maybe the other way around. I do like Haru being a jokester a lot, especially since Haru's Halloween costume was a devil/angel hybrid to sell prank gags. Yua was a pumpkin with vines which is why I think she could be the gossip because of the phrase "heard it through the grapevine" which I do like.

Literally yeah, I am so off topic. The mermaids in this AU definitely have the ability to change, but they probably aren't changing much since the team does want each mermaid to feel unique but also keep their already established identity if applicable (so Sayu and Aoi).

Also, I do think the names would probably be different for Yua, Renho, and Haru. Since the team is no longer just purely made up of Asian characters (the Crew) I can see the designs and names being slightly different for the last three. Maybe something more American since Gwen, Margo, and Peni are all from America. I don't know.

Pronouns and stuff could also be different, but also be the same as the OG club. The club itself only used she/her pronouns, with Yua being the only queer character by being trans. I don't think the mermaids would start using different pronouns until they became sentient. Though, Yua and Renho could potentially use different pronouns later on before being sentient as Gwen and Peni figure things out about themselves.

Though honestly, considering these are teenagers getting super popular with their work, I think they might be a little bit scared to have the mermaids with neopronouns. It was probably already nerve-wracking to make Yua trans when they had a small audience (and that is something some people could ignore or forget about since it isn't completely obvious just from the the design itself).

Imagine how scary it would be to make a character use entirely different pronouns (or at least add pronouns so it's like she/note) when they started getting popular.

By the time Renho and Haru were added, the team was thinking about joining NSR. NSR is full of older people judging new musicians. If they don't like openly queer things like that then they might not get accepted (which would be for the better if that was the case). So they didn't want to make those pronoun changes before the Lights Up Audition happened.

However, once they got accepted and started moving up the ranks (and later on become a megastar) changing the pronouns of characters will just look like a marketing stunt and could potentially lead to backlash for the mermaids and the team. They would be afraid to give these mermaids (who at the time are all entirely fake and not sentient) neopronouns because of their teenage anxiety telling them all the horrible things that could happen.

It probably wouldn't help that Gwen and Tila's family lives could be something the whole team thinks of whenever the idea of making the mermaids more queer comes up. It is definitely something they want to do, but they know not everyone is going to like the change and either say the mermaids are now woke and stupid, or this might make them less popular and they would have to push themselves even further to not get fired or something.

So honestly, I don't think the mermaids would use neopronouns before being sentient. However! If they do become sentient like how Sayu and the club did later on after the revolution, that is something I can definitely see changing! And the pronouns they use too would most likely change.

Renho is probaly not going to keep only using they/them (maybe something like they/fin). Aoi I kinda want to keep using he/they no matter what, I just really like that a whole lot. Yua I can see sharing a lot of experiences with Gwen since Yua was basically made in Gwen's image kinda, so maybe Yua does also start using note/notes pronouns as well as she/her (or maybe another set entirely). Sayu as ze/mer is still a favorite of mine, but anything can be used for mer (love the idea that Sayu takes pronouns that sound like she/her and keeps those ones or makes up mer own). Haru, yeah, I can definitely see Haru as going with something entirely different from sea/sear pronouns. Don't know what though.

Anyway! Yeah! Mermaids would change, not into a completely different group that would not be distinguishable from the OG club, but there would be changes. A lot of the major changes however come later after the Rock Revolution where the mermaids might become sentient.

What made you ship it?

Honestly? This person's art--I mean look at it. I love their style, it's gorgeous. After that, I just started seeing more official art of them and hearing about the hype for Chuuaku on Twitter (or at least I thought it was fairly popular over there). Then I began to rethink the characters and what they could have in common, which turns out is kind of a lot. To quote my anime journal, they've both been hurt by Dazai and have been lone wolves for most of their lives. They've been through so much and I want them to bond over being used by people they once trusted (Aku--Dazai, Chuuya--Shirase, Verlaine, anyone else from Stormbringer? I haven't actually read it yet). They each ponder their self-worth but admire those around them (Chuuya admires Mori's leadership but worries about his own humanity, Akutagawa admires Atsushi for being able to stand up to him but doesn't see his own strength as good enough, and obvs Dazai). Listen, so we all know Chuuya is a loyal character, it's one of his core traits. But Akutagawa has that same potential too! He's kept his promise to Atsushi not to kill anyone for six months. I believe Beast even as an alternate universe implies traits that are there in every version of a character, so Akutagawa's protection over Gin can also be seen as loyalty. Any two people being fiercely devoted to each other or having that possibility is a huge plus for me. Yeah, they haven't had any actual scenes together in the main story (ig Dead Apple kinda counts, I always forget that exists) which made me a little iffy at first, but they've had a little screentime together in Wan! which is good enough for me and I ended up loving them!

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

Chuuaku's vibes are like off the charts emo autumn season and I love it. Their color schemes are so Halloween-y and I always picture them within an aesthetic collage of hot chocolate, falling leaves, and overcast skies. I also like how easy it usually is to come up with headcanons for them, like Akutagawa would be so bad at compliments (thinking about him like Kageyama saying knife instead of nice) and Chuuya would appreciate him trying yet he's so much smoother at it, they both shop at Hot Topic, love similar music, effective on missions together, find it easy to bully people together, and go on midnight motorcycle rides to help Akutagawa's lungs. Oh, I love that Chuuya is kind of the mentor Aku never had and so it's for sure just one of the most positive relationships Aku could have. Also, it seems to me they're both workaholics so it would be fun to see them realize this about each other and force the other to work out making time for fun things, not necessarily with each other. In my opinion, Chuuya needs someone calmer than Dazai and Akutagawa needs someone who's patient but still outgoing. Of course, I believe that with any Akutagawa ship, he needs to be less obsessed with Dazai to be more in tune with his partner. I think Chuuya could help him move past this because of his specific position in Akutagawa's life as a coworker and someone who knows Dazai pretty personally. Overall I like that this ship, like my other favorites, is pretty balanced power-wise, has a great aesthetic, is on opposite ends of the personality spectrum, and has room for "missing or behind the scenes" fanfictions. Also the possibilities for AUs (from mayoi alone we get detectives and bandmates)!

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Not sure since there aren't several fans I've talked to about Chuuaku, but I'm gonna use this opportunity to say that these are the top songs that remind me of them: I Will Follow You into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie, Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne, Better Than Me by The Brobecks, Easily by Bruno Major. Perhaps my unpopular opinion would be that they're actually just very domestic.

26 years ago Disney's Mighty Ducks the Animated Series premiered. 26 years ago I was a kid just about to enter 2nd grade and turn 8 years old later that same month. On a whim, my mother told me to check out the shows that Disney was showcasing that night. That's all it took. That first time was all I needed to become very intrigued and drawn in by the story that had begun to play out before me. I was the right age to dive into a sci-fi adventure. This show, it's characters, they sparked so much. This was the thing to inspire my already imaginative mind to think up my own adventures, to draw, and to write. It was a building block that helped form an important piece of me. 

I don't just celebrate the show on its own today. I celebrate what this show came with as well; moments spent with my very involved and encouraging parents, a time before the hardships that befell my family, a time where I was about to become an older sister, the community I would find myself becoming more and more apart of, a way to develop my art style in drawing and writing, and everything else that was this show to me. It all comes back to me when I look over this time. No, a lot of people didn't get it, and that's okay. The team means a lot to me because of all of this and more. Each character taught me something that has lasted through the years; accepting differences, giving people a chance, be yourself, that being an older sibling is about being protective and letting them grow at the same time, to not worry about gender specific things so you can enjoy things considered masculine or feminine or both, you can find friends where you least expect to, and that life may not turn out how you thought, but still enjoy it as it goes. I'd say those are all important lessons to carry with you. 

This picture reflects on all of that. It's from chapter 6 of my core story, Cultivating the Fire. It's after the 3rd episode of the show, and the Mighty Ducks are simply going on their first vacation. Duke and Heart are just starting as an official couple, and learning what that means. Heart is new to all of this, and Duke isn't used to being open with anyone anymore. The team as a whole are also still learning how to live together as well as adapting to their new home. Its an early chapter, but an important one. There's minor threats to deal with, such as urban legends in the woods... but it's just that, minor. The heart of the chapter is them being around one another from camping to a theme park. When I write for the team, a bit of myself goes into it. This chapter is no exception. Here they are, camping in the Migrator because a storm hit over their campsite. Just as it happened to my family in real life. Moments like that are what I call the bloodstream of my work, and their relationships are the heart that pulls everything together. 

So here they are, 26 years later, and they are as close as they ever were to me.

POV: The reader knows Vert ever since high school, but she is very shy and Vert saw her a few times during their high school days, the reader was so in love and still is. Years later the reader is becoming a very good art designer and it's called to help the TEKU team with their new team logo, but she didn't know that Vert Wheeler was part of this team.

“Dear Diary, today I went to the art club to send my banner ideas when I suddenly saw Vert with his friend group-” You were reading your diary and laughing at your teen version from the past, you were so in love with that blonde surf boy. He was one of the coolest guys at the academy, but he had an arrogant personality.

Besides, it seems you haven't changed at all, you are still shy and still blush every time you remember that Californian boy. You have noticed that there are still some white pages left in your diary, maybe it is because you didn't have more time to write in a diary during your senior year.

You are doing an art college because you found out you have the biggest talent in illustrations, you have created your own art account on your social media, but you kept your identity anonymous. Your arts are being liked by people whom you have never met, in one of the notifications, 2 accounts liked your designs and followed you. The first is TEKU Official Account, and the second is Shirako Takamoto.

You went to see the accounts and you got really surprised, these accounts are famous, and both of them are music creators, you saw that this Shirako Takamoto guy is the DJ of the TEKU team. And the best thing is you receive his messages on your DM's:

Shirako- Yo! What's up. The name is Shirako Takamoto, I'm a DJ of a street racing team called The TEKU.

(Y/F/N)- Hello Shirako Takamoto, very pleased to meet you. I heard some music when I have seen your account, you make amazing kinds of music!

Shirako- why thank you so much. And your arts are amazing too! Speaking of which, the leader of my team is looking for a new design for our logo, and I've tried to look for some good designs and now I think I chose the perfect designer for that. Please, can you help us with our new logos? We promise that we'll pay you.

You just thought for a minute, a guy who followed you and then suddenly asked if you could help his street racing team with a new logo design. It might sound suspicious but you got not very good clients, some were scammers, some stole your work, and some only wanted inappropriate things. But some part of your mind said that this dude is trustworthy, so you said "yes, I can help you :)"

Shirako- Good! Can we meet in real life? Because we can work together and think about the logo designs.

(Y/F/N)- OK, but how can I know that you are not a serial killer? LOL

Shirako- LMAO don't worry, since we live in the same city, how about we meet on California Street?

(Y/F/N)- hmm... deal Both of you said your goodbyes and you turned off your phone, you are so excited and yet worried at the same time, you went to write in your diary.

"Dear diary, its been a time, yeah? But I'm going to finish you soon, anyway, I got commissioned again, but this client is different, this is the first client who asked me to meet him in real life. And the best part it's that he is from a very famous street racing team called TEKU, I've done some research of course, and it seems a very popular team and very trustworthy. I'm going to get dressed and meet this Shirako Takamoto guy at the California Street, hope I don't die today XD. Wish me luck."

You put your comfy and yet good-looking clothing, nothing too tight, a shy style I would say, but that doesn't matter, you picked up your phone, your sketchbook, and pencils. You prepared your backpack and left home. You went to California Street and started to wait for Shirako.

After some minutes of waiting, you finally see a white car, with yellow and blue details, with a TEKU logo on the car hood, and it was playing loud music. Really loud.

The car stopped in front of you, and its driver rolled down the window, revealing that it was Shirako Takamoto. Making you recognize him, Shirako called your name as you entered his car (yay Bassline).

He drove you both into a place where it is customized with the TEKU colors pallet, Shirako then opened the garage and parked there, but you saw other cool-designed cars inside. After this, he showed you the place outside the garage.

You heard voices and you noticed that it is coming from a living room, you and Shirako entered there, and you saw a woman with a blue outfit, a man using orange glasses laying down on the sofa, and a boy with long black hair with a yellow jacket and a T golden necklace. Those 3 were relaxing until Shirako cleared the throat.

"Guys, I want you to meet (Y/F/N) she will help us with our new logo design” exclaimed Shirako

The long-haired man looked at you with surprise and then shakes your hand happily, you could see a relieved smile on his face.

“Nice to meet you, (Y/F/N), I'm Nolo Pasaro, the leader of the TEKU team. Shirako showed to us all of your work" said Nolo smiling at you

You blushed a little, because Shirako showed to them your arts, you started to feel really shy right now.

"One of our members is late, but I guess we should get started then?” asked the woman wearing the blue outfit

“This is Karma Eiss, she is a little bit... Direct” said Nolo trying to make a good presentation between you and Karma

“Direct? Me? I’m not...” said Karma refusing to believe what she just heard from her leader

“That one on the couch is Kurt Wylde, he is one of the most trustful people that I ever met,” said Nolo saying good things about Kurt, but you kinda know him because he was a famous driver at Grand Prix but he was accused about cheating on a race. You just smiled at him and waved, and he just looked at you and said only “hi...”

“One of our members is late, we should wait for him and then we’ll start to work”

Nolo let you sit on the couch next to Kurt while you wait for the last member, you took the time to look around, and you saw so many photos, medals, and trophies. It's been an awkward silence until you hear someone opening the door.

“I’m here! SORRY, I’M LATE!!”

You went to see the person and you couldn't believe who is the person in front of you. It was Vert Wheeler, your crush ever since high school, he looked at you and smiled.

"hey I know you. Do we met before?" asked Vert trying to remember if he ever had met you

"huh? Oh yes yes! We have met before, highschool. We didn't had a talk actually" you responded him, and surprising yourself that you talked to him without stutter.

And he still look stunning after high school, the only difference is the goatee, you both looked at each other until Vert remembered

"OH YEAH! You were my neighbor, the girl who always loved to draw."

"O-Oh how did you know that I love to draw?"

"My dad met your parents, he told me that you are very smart, a very good artist and the most sweetest person" Vert smiled with his beautiful blue eyes, and your face started to get hot, really hot. Your cheeks started to blush, your heartbeat started to get faster. He knew about you, it's good to know that you weren't a ghost in his life.

“H-huh?! That's- I mean I n-never” Damn it, you are stuttering in front of him and his friends, you hide your face in your hands trying to pretend that you didn't blushed, but the TEKU team had noticed.

"I see that you two kinda know each other a long time" Nolo giggled a little bit and then he dragged you and the rest of the team to the garage again.

When you got there, Shirako was holding a lot of rolled papers and he put these on the desk nearby. He opened the papers and he showed a lot of drawings and designs for their logos.

“Here are some ideas that I got before commissioning you, I was thinking if we could the TEKU logo with a blue dragon or- OH how about the letters have a sound wave design,” Shirako said so excitedly because he wants to share this idea to another professional and you found it cute.

“I must say, these aren't bad ideas, but I think I got an idea. Instead of a dragon, how about some blue and orange flames? To make it simple and terrific” you said confidently, there is a short awkward silence and then was interrupted by Vert.

“Hmm, that isn't a bad idea, like we shouldn’t make our logo very specific and difficult to understand. And seriously, Shirako, I still don't understand the reason for a dragon being in our logo” said Vert chuckling

“Shush Vert. This is a chat between professionals” pouted Shirako, making everyone laugh

You and Shirako have been debating and making ideas for the logo for hours because Nolo says it needs to look cool. Meanwhile, Vert watches you two working (but he is hidden), and Nolo gives him a coffee.

“So you know her?” asked Nolo smiling at his friend

“Not as much as I remember, we just exchanged looks and hi’s and goodbyes. She was very shy, I always thought that pretty cute” answered Vert while blushing a little

After the World Race, Vert Wheeler, that teenager who commanded the Wave Rippers changed his personality a lot. He learned about thinking of others when he discovered Kadeem, his friend from the World Race, was racing for his people and it gave a reality shock to Vert.

So he started to be respectful to other people, acting so differently from his school days. Vert couldn't take his eyes off of her, she looks even more beautiful after years. You have changed a little bit about your looks, like your hairstyle and the colors of your type of clothing.

Not only Nolo has noticed that, but Karma and Kurt notices too. They shared a smirk between themselves and they decided to give Shirako and (Y/N) a break.

"Nolo is calling me, wanna come, (Y/F/N)?" asked Shirako

"no thank you, and you guys can call me (Y/N). It's my real name" you responded Shirako. He nods as you permit him and the rest of the TEKU to call you by your real name.

Shirako went to talk with Nolo outside of the room, and you sat down on the wooden chair next to the table you were working on your project. As you were folding the papers, someone entered the room, you hold the papers and look who entered the room... Vert.

"hey (Y/N). Can I talk to you?" asked Vert in a friendly and calm tone in his voice

You blushed when you saw him and let some papers fall from your hands and you started to stutter. "O-Oh yeah s-sure. We didn't t-talked when you arrived" you said while holding the stuttering feeling

"how's your life going? Your family moved to another place when we finished high school and... we rarely talked" asked Vert while helping you to collect the papers, when you both are about the pick the same and the last paper. You both touched hands accidentally, you felt his fingertips on the top of your hand, you looked at each other in the eyes, his damn blue piercing eyes looking straight at your (E/C) eyes.

You two stayed in a crouched pose looking at each other's eyes for some seconds until you wake up to reality and blushes harder, and surprisingly... Vert was blushing too, but it was a slight blush.
