when he’s a kid, sonia keeps him pretty secluded. blackout curtains on all the windows, not allowed to go out anywhere close to sunset or sunrise

they have artificial lighting to like. mimic the sun during the day (because he doesn’t Actually sleep all day. he just needs less sleep than humans so he usually just has a nice lil nap around noon) but he doesn’t actually see the sun until he’s 18 and moves out of sonia’s house for good

he’s allowed out of the house from 9 pm to 3 am, so he at least gets to see the rest of town, but no shops are open beyond the few speakeasy-like restaurants and stores that are specifically open for the nocturnal creatures of derry but hidden from the humans

none of the losers are specifically nocturnal, but richie’s always out at night and bill never sleeps, so they naturally spend a lot of time together

cue the reverse of the classic richie sneaking into eddie’s room at night scene because sonia rarely lets the others over but never richie because she complains that her house reeks of wet dog for the next week and eddie shouldn’t be spending time around that mutt anyway

richie once tried to sneak into eddie’s room and sonia woke up the whole neighborhood with her banshee scream

so eddie sneaks into richie’s room instead

the toziers know. they don’t care

instead of his medications being fake, eddie finds out that what sonia’s been passing off as human blood has been animal the whole time

which is acceptable, but doesn’t do vampires any favors

it’s like having fast food every day; he’ll survive, but there are better things that he should be balancing his diet out with and will make him feel better for having eaten it

after he marries myra, eddie goes back to drinking animal blood because she thinks that human blood is unsanitary and it makes him feel so sluggish and tired all the time

fast forward to post divorce yay

richie definitely lets him drink from him and it’s like a fucking energy drink because it’s like charged with supernatural energy so he can’t actually do it too often

eddie finds out that he enjoys going out during the day and will often accompany the others when they run errands just because he never got to experience that for the first half of his life

he does burn very easily so he always carries an umbrella and some sort of hat

his favorite is a big floppy sun hat because it does the best job of covering everything and richie loves to tease him for it

eddie can still eat human food but he’s very sensitive to taste so if he tries something and doesn’t like it richie will just down it. he’s a garbage disposal he’ll eat anything and then eddie can order something new :)

the first time they fucked richie was like hey eds why don’t you. come inside 😏 and eddie came. immediately.

he’ll never live it down.

Well Met By Moonlight Part 20

When I first started this story a year ago the only goal in mind was to get a sexy blood drinking scene between Steve and Eddie. Which yay! I achieved TWICE!

But then the story began to grow and twist and things kept getting more and more interesting. Plot deepened, twists turned sharper and characters began to take shape.

I'm grateful to everyone who held on this one even as interest for it waned. I'm happy that it started to gain more interest again at the end, because that's what kept me going all the way to the end.

I'm currently having someone read it (not in the ST fandom) to see if they think it has the potential to be an original fiction that could be published. I know she loved the story, but I have gotten back all her notes yet. So we'll see.

“It’s good thing that worked,” Brian said scratching the back his neck sheepishly. “I wasn’t sure my song worked on werewolves.”

“It doesn’t work on selkies?” Nancy asked.

Brian just shrugged.

“We were under water,” Barb explained, “we didn’t hear the song.”

Nancy eyed her suspiciously, but wisely said nothing to her friend.

“So now that everyone’s lives are no longer in danger,” Wayne said dryly. “You want to explain the whole ‘they don’t belong here’ statement?”

Nancy jumped at suddenly be addressed. “Oh, right! I knew there had to be more to the story than what the newspaper and the VHS report said.”

“Video Home System?” Jeff asked in confusion.

Wayne snorted and Eddie badly hid his grin.

“That’s what I said!” Eddie crowed.

Nancy rolled her eyes and decided to ignore the idiot vampires. “Van Helsing Society. They’re a secret police force that investigates these types of things.”

Alexei slowly inched out of the boathouse and everyone kept their eye on him.

“Dr. Brenner was doing a lot of experiments and not just on werewolves. He was looking into other dimensions as well.”

“What was the point of it all?” Steve asked.

Chrissy landed on the beach and said, “He was trying to create the perfect supernatural being. One without any limitations at all. But he didn’t want keep using people from our world to do it because it would raise too many questions. So he was opening worlds and pulling out test subjects. But always werewolves.”

“That’s insane!” Steve cried. “You have to see how insane that is, right?”

Chrissy nodded. “When the cat sìth arrived at the Creel House to tell us of our Dominus’s death, I started looking into the previous Dominus’s experiments thinking it had answers to what was going on in this town. I was right and disgusted.”

Nancy nodded. “They,” she jutted her chin at Alexei and Murray, “are the ones that survived because at the same time they were brought over, Dr. Brenner was being investigated by VHS and had to stop temporarily, so they slipped into the wide world accidentally. This world’s Dr. Oborin killed those kids because they were teasing this world’s Mr. Bauman’s baldness. But when they saw the two that looked exactly them, they hatched a plan to use them as scapegoats and are currently on the run in Mexico.”

“Who told you all this?” Jonathan asked, speaking for the first time.

“I did,” and final person emerged from the tree line.

“Sam...” Wayne said warningly. “What the fuck are you doing here?”

“That’s actually a funny story,” Sam said sheepishly. “So apparently our investigations did overlap?”

“Sam...”

“Right,” Sam said with a grimace. “Do you mind if I take over the story from here?” he asked Nancy.

She waved her hand at him. “Go ahead. I’m interested to hear what more you may have gleaned.”

“So my original investigation was whether or not there was a descendant of the original Karl Van Helsing from the female line was in the Harrington pack,” he said with a wince.

Steve frowned. “What does ‘female line’ mean?”

“There is the male line,” Sam explained, “where you keep the last name. Harrington for example. You are a descendant of the original pack leader, Clarence Harrington. That is the male line. The female line is when, let’s continue using Harrington as an example, say Clarence had two sons and a daughter. The daughter marries and has children. Those children are still related to Clarence but their last name has changed.”

“You think Greta had children?” Wayne asked incredulously. “Because like hell she did.”

Sam shook his head. “No, not Greta. Her aunt Vanessa, who married Peter Kincade.”

Dread pooled in Wayne’s stomach. He knew that name because he had been trying to find out why Murray would murder a non-werewolf. Not that he knew it was Murray at the time. Peter Kincade was Allison Harrington’s great, great, great, great, great however many it was grandfather.

“When Benjamin Kincade was murdered and subsequently his daughter and husband,” Sam continued, “the blood was sent to our lab by an anonymous source, a source we now believe to Dr. Alexei Oborin.”

The assembled turned to the doctor who was now cradling his mate to his chest. He stroked Murray’s head. “I didn’t like all the murder. I found a neater way to get Harrington out of the pack. Show the VHS that he was their missing link and he’d be whisked away and have experiments done on him so they can strengthen their ranks. Then you’d be alpha, my love.”

Murray whimpered.

“I’m sorry,” Alexei whispered back. “They didn’t move fast enough.”

“So that’s how it intersects,” Eddie said. “If Murray hadn’t killed the Harringtons and Mr. Kincade, you’d never had been in town looking for Steve.”

“It would have been easier,” Sam agreed, “but there is some really power magic on Steve that prevents VHS agents from being able to detect him. And it is absolutely due to his Van Helsing blood. They were purported to have all sorts of abilities and immunities that made them perfect watchmen of the supernatural communities. The blood magic used to create the spells that will protect an agent makes it impossible to mate with supernatural creatures.” Wayne bristled, but Sam held up his hand. “Note I said mate, not couple. It’s the act of producing a child that is disastrous.”

“Why’s that?” Barb asked from the dock, still the only part of her that was human was her head. “Supernatural creatures mate with humans all the time. I mean some times it can have some pretty strange results, but no one would call them disastrous.”

“It’s the anti-magic of the spells used and the innate magic of the supernatural being mixing and slowly driving the poor child insane,” Sam said, looking side-long at Steve. “We actually had long suspected Steve might have some connection to the Helsings because–”

“Because he should have gone crazy twice!” Eddie said with a gasp. “The first time was when he changed for the first time at age eighteen. The Franklins were banking on him going off the rails so they could paint him some rabid beast that needed to be put down. But he was lucid.”

“And then again when the Hunters tried to kill him,” Nancy finished. “He should have gone mad from the amount of silver he had on him. Even for that short a time. Being alpha would have only protected him so much.”

Steve pointed to himself in shock. “What? Me? There’s no way, there has to be another explanation.”

Wayne shook his head. “Nope. You’re the descendant of two very powerful lines, Steve.”

“Back to the problem of Murray and Alexei,” Brian said, raising his hand. “Because Steve is cool and all, but all this new information doesn’t really change that. It just confirms what smart people have known for years.”

Steve blushed.

“They can’t be in this world anymore,” Sam said, sadly. “Their very presence is what’s causing the sharp increase in supernatural suspicion in the normal populous. The whole being just out of step is sending out shock waves across the world that they’re dangerous.”

“I understand,” Alexei said, “I always knew there was no place for us anywhere.” He leaned over to kiss Murray.

“Maybe we can–” Nancy began when two gunshots went off in quick succession.

Then Alexei slumped over Murray’s body. There was no doubt what had happened. Alexei must have picked up the gun when Chrissy landed. Then he shot Murray, finishing the job that Robin had started then turned the gun on himself.

BA-DUM! BA! DUM!

“Oh,” Robin said softly. “Now that they’re dead you can actually feel the difference.”

Nancy let out a frustrated whine and stomped her foot. “I was going to suggest finding a way to send them home. Not for them to die.”

Sam came over and put his hand on her shoulder. “This is was the best. Even though they were innocent of the original crime of killing the kids, Dr. Alexei Oborin killed the Hunters in his own universe and then all the deaths on Murray Bauman’s hands are far too many. To merely send them back would be a grave miscarriage of justice.”

Her lip quivered, but she nodded. It galled her. If they hadn’t been pulled here by Dr. Brenner than they would be lauded as heroes in their home world, only to be branded villains in this one. But they had caused so much harm.

Sam turned to Steve. “So about that linage...you are wasted here as a mere alpha. You could head the entire Van Helsing Society. You would be incandescent there.”

Steve shook his head. “No. This is where I want to be.”

Eddie let out a little whine of relief and even the golden wolf that was Robin looked relieved.

“I am making Robin Buckley my female alpha,” he continued. Nancy let out a breath of relief of her own. “I’m changing the name of the pack to the Roane County pack. No more Harrington crap. I am the last and it will end with me. Same goes with the Van Helsing line.”

Sam’s eyes nearly burst out of his head with that. “You can’t mean that, surely!”

Steve shook his head. “I can. I will donate a single vial of my blood to the Society and allow you to test the limits of my abilities for one week a year, but the rest of the time I will be here. Taking care of the people who matter most to me. On one condition.”

Sam’s hands were clenched in rage. “You dare to make even more demands?!”

“Yes,” Steve said coolly. “The Society will come out of the shadows. You lot being a secret society is precisely why there is rise in Hunters. If people knew there was an actual policing body that would bring rogue cryptids to heel, they would be less likely to want to take matters into their own hands.”

Wayne and Sam shared a look of shock between them.

“Oh.” Sam gulped heavily. “Deal.”

Steve shook his hand, then he turned to Chrissy. “I’m assuming you’re the new Dominus.”

Chrissy blinked. “Oh shit. I guess I am.”

“Good,” he said primly. “We’ll meet later in the week to find you a new home and to lay out a new treaty between the Coven and Pack.”

She nodded gravely. “It will be done, Alpha.” She turned to Jeff. “Come, we need to find places for our Coven in the mean time.”

Jeff nodded and they both transformed and flew off into the air.

“Robin,” Steve said, turning to his new alpha female. “Take the rest of the pack back to the compound and explain everything that has gone on. Let them know I will be back shortly to reassure them. I will mete out Tommy’s punishment when I get there.”

The golden wolf nodded solemnly. Nancy and Hopper changed back into wolves. Tommy climbed back on Hopper’s back and then looked behind him at Steve. He had misjudged everything and no he must pay the price. Then they followed her back to the compound, Jonathan bringing up the rear.

Steve walked up to Barb and Brian. “The Roane County Pack owes the sirens and selkies a debt of gratitude. Name it and if it’s in the power of this alpha it will be yours.”

Brian and Barb looked at each other and then they both shook their heads.

“You continuing to advocate for us will be a far great boon then any other thing you could do for us, alpha,” Barb said sternly.

Steve nodded.

Brian reach out and took Barb’s flipper in his hand. “Plus, there’s this, too.”

Gareth and Eddie let out wolf whistles.

Brian blushed, but Barb smiled softly.

“Yes, this is a good reward as well,” she murmured. She removed her hand from her skin and took his hand.

Brian smiled up at her. They both transformed again. She slipped under the water as Brian flew over it, humming to himself.

Steve turned back to the remaining four. He walked up to Gareth.

“What is it the gwyllgi want?” Steve asked, getting down on one knee so he could look the large black dog in the eye. No preamble. Just straight to the point. He knew the Graveyard dogs had a lot of grievances against his pack and he was going to change that starting now.

“Agree to meet with my father to work out restitution for our pack,” Gareth said seriously.

“Done,” Steve said, bowing his head. “I will make sure Robin contacts him for a meeting.”

Gareth shuffled forward and hugged Steve with his neck. “You’re a good alpha and a better man.”

Steve pinched his nose and then rubbed the end. “Thank you, Gareth.”

Gareth loped over to Eddie. “You take good care of him, won’t you? He tends to get caught up in his head sometimes.”

Eddie nodded, giving a watery chuckle. “Just whose friend are you, mine or his?”

Gareth tilted his head to the side.

“Both.”

The dog turned and vanished into the tree line.

Wayne turned to Steve. “I’m thinking of retiring from this whole supernatural guardianship. I’m going to let Eddie take over. I’m getting too old for this shit.”

Sam let out a sound that was combination between a whine and clearing his throat. “If I–I mean, if I haven’t completely ruined things between us. I–”

“Just spit it out, Sam,” Wayne growled.

“This was my last investigation for the Society,” Sam said, looking down at his feet. “I told them after our last meeting. I hate lying to you. It kills me every time. So I want to spend my time with you. If you’ll have me.”

Wayne huffed and then grabbed him by the wrist, pulling him in close. “You’ve got a lot grovelling to do. And I have a long list of ways you can start making it up to me.”

Sam eyes went wide at the low sultry tone. “Oh. I am very willing.”

Wayne transformed and flew off with his arm securely around his waist.

“Gross,” Eddie sniffed.

Steve pulled him into his embrace. “I too have a list of things, but mine is more about the lovely things I want you to do me.”

“Ooh, I do like the sound of that, big boy,” Eddie said with a feral grin. “And I’m pretty sure my uncle won’t be at the trailer for awhile.”

“I like the way you think,” Steve pulled him in for a long kiss. “I’ll meet you there. I just have make sure Robin hasn’t set the compound on fire and then I’ll be right there.”

“Are you sure you want her as your alpha?” Eddie asked with a chuckle.

“Yeah, she’ll be fine once she gets over her nerves,” he said with a smile. “Plus no one will be asking if we are going to mate. Having a lesbian best friend really does have its perks. You don't have to come with.”

Eddie through his head back and laughed. “Nah, I’ll come with. I want to see their faces.”

Steve smiled and took Eddie’s hand.

They walked past Lucas, who was on guard duty, hand in hand, a werewolf and a vampire. Both once outcasts even in their own communities, now leaders in their own right.

Steve smiled.

The future never looked brighter.

actually im gonna keep playing in my twilight au derangement ball pit. imagine with me for a moment that buck moves to forks washington because he got offered a job at the firehouse there. hen chimney bobby etc etc already all live there and are Normal but buck comes across the mysterious edwardtommy and becomes enchanted by the dead look in his eyes for some reason. soon he finds out hes a vampire and buck is of course fine with this because he has little self preservation and overall the firehouse doesnt get much action outside of these random bear attacks and the occasional fire so hes bored. a few months pass when eddie joins the firehouse. listen eddie has to be a werewolf in this universe i cannot ration with myself another version because he needs to have his shirt off inexplicably for about 90% of the time. and this is because i said so. buck is growing listless with edwardtommy but also doesnt want to Die but he walks into work and becomes absolutely enchanted and infatuated with eddie in his beautiful shirtless glory because this is already just show canon. buck huffs some copium and tells himself that he just wants to be eddies best bud and this is why he feels such a magnetic pull to him. he blows off edwardtommy for a while in favor of hanging out with his new Bro and his adorable son but things get a little weird. sometimes eddie is gone for like a week at a time for unknown reasons and buck of course stays with chris because he loves him but he just finds it odd. eventually it comes out that eddie is a werewolf and this is why edwardtommy has been increasingly agitated around buck for the past few months. eddie is also the alpha because i said so. once buck meets the rest of eddie’s pack it becomes a vampire werewolf showdown where buck ultimately chooses the werewolves for Some Reason. definitely not because hes in love with eddie haha!! but eddie doesnt even change into werewolf form for this fight he beats everyone with his human fists and only then does buck realize the extent of his lust and love for eddie. so all the vampires including edwardtommy die and buck confesses he wants to be with eddie forever yay ���� and they continue working at the firehouse with the 118 family and buck is integrated into the pack as eddie’s mate.

buck also learns shortly after the fight that hes the only human in history to imprint on a werewolf instead of the opposite. and of course in this universe imprinting occurs when you look at someone and hear whatta man playing in your head.

also while buck is human everyone jokes he is a vampire because he has a Thing for eddies blood and licking his wounds. again because i said so

Free Space (Too Far Gone? by Metallica)

Day 0

“Absolutely not. We need to put it outta its misery.” Hopper insisted as they recovered in the Harrington home. He grimaced when the sound of screeching and thrashing sounded from the basement, and Steve would have found the expression almost humorous any other day.

“He’s not an it!” Dustin protested, “And we didn’t abandon Will! We don’t leave party members if they can be saved!”

Nancy sighed, taking a gulp of water to gather her thoughts before she spoke, “Will was savable. Eddie is…Is he even Eddie anymore? He didn’t drop when the other democreatures did, but that doesn’t mean anything.”

“It means everything!” Dustin’s voice got a little louder, “I don’t know what final boss battle you guys were watching, but Eddie, El, and Will did most of the heavy lifting!” While tentacles (vines? Whatever, either way Steve wanted to pretend that hadn’t happened) pinned them down, Eddie had turned on Vecna. He’d bared his fangs and lunged, catching the monster offguard enough for Eleven to mindblast the vines (vines aren’t slimy. Definitely tentacles) off of herself. He had even caught a tentacle (but tentacles imply they’re attached to something and the majority weren’t. So…vines?) through the chest for his trouble. Apparently whatever had been done to him made him heal faster, so yay for small miracles.

“He’s staying.” Steve finally spoke up, “Hop, with all due respect I won’t hesitate to do what it takes to protect him.” His voice was even, the ‘from you’ left unsaid but still understood.

Hopper paused before he sighed, “We do this, you aren’t taking care of him alone. The second he becomes too much of a danger…”

“He won’t.” Steve said firmly. They would make it through the night and pull his heart into the day.

Day 1

“Wow, you look bad.” Robin grimaced at the sight of her platonic soulmate absolutely drenched from head to toe.

Steve sighed as he wrung out his shirt, “I had El restrain Eddie so I could chain him up.”

“And that required you to take a swim first?” Robin arched an eyebrow as she walked into Steve’s bathroom and gathered a few towels.

“It was for a bath. He hasn’t had one since at least three days before he died.” Steve grumbled, drying himself off, “I know he’s not exactly Eddie right now but the moment he remembered he had wings was the most Eddie thing I’ve ever seen.” He’d watched as Eddie had gone from thrashing in the plastic pool they’d brought down to flapping a tidal wave in Steve’s general direction, making an almost pleased sort of chirp. The bastard had even looked smug, and it was annoying, but it was all the proof he needed that Eddie still lived, was more than an attack dog. It was progress.

Day 10

“So, um, the party’s gonna deal with Acererak, but the twist is that he’s the DMNPC that’s been traveling with them.” Will explained his next campaign, glancing over to Eddie. The man had to be restrained when people were with him, and the kids needed an adult by their side, but he couldn’t help thinking that maybe the vampire wasn’t so bad. After all, being changed by the Upside Down didn’t mean you were automatically evil, just…different.

Steve smiled softly. He was pretending to read a magazine to give them some privacy, but he heard the curious chirps Eddie was making, the inquisitiveness spoken in a language Steve was starting to learn, and he couldn’t help speaking up, “I think he wants to know more.”

Will’s eyes lit up, “Okay, the big reveal’s gonna be at the end of the tomb…”

Night 35

Steve was woken up by screeching, mournful and terrified. He booked it downstairs so fast he nearly fell down the last steps. He saw Eddie in his little nest of sweatshirts he’d taken from Steve, wings wrapped around himself and brows furrowed, fighting some horrors his own mind had created. Without hesitation, Steve climbed into the nest and laid there, pulling Eddie into his arms and brushing his hair back, “It’s okay,” He whispered, “You’re not alone.”

Day 63

Dustin was sat right next to Eddie, reading from The Hobbit, when he felt a wing wrap around him, startling him out of the paragraph, “You okay? Do you need something?”

Steve grinned, “I think that’s mostly because he can’t do it with his arm.”

Eddie let out a confirming chitter.

“Let’s let him out!” Dustin undid the chains before he could be stopped though, considering it was just he and Steve, there wasn’t really a voice of reason there.

Eddie froze when he was freed, looking around the room as if this was a trap, a trick, and a soft whine pulled from his throat.

“No, it’s okay. Like this, see?” Dustin demonstrated by wrapping an arm around Eddie’s stomach.

Eddie hesitated before he rested a clawed hand on Dustin’s curls and ruffled them. What startled both Steve and his semi-child was the purr that rumbled from the vampire’s chest.

Day 86

Steve walked downstairs with breakfast. They’d found that Eddie could eat normal things but that most of his nutrients came from blood, so the adults had been donating when they could. Thankfully, he only seemed to need to be fed once a day, with Steve giving him human food the rest of the time. He frowned when he heard what sounded like hissing, an incessant ‘s’ sound, “What is it? You okay?” He asked in concern, setting down the cup and approaching his vampire.

Eddie let out an annoyed sort of grunt then continued hissing, shaking his head.

Steve crouched down in front of Eddie, resting a hand against his cheek, “What’s wrong? Do we need El?” Because Eleven was the only one who could communicate with Eddie better than Steve through her static blindfold mind powers (and Steve totally wasn’t jealous, no, why would he be? Totally fine with someone else speaking to his Eddie, totally chill and cool)

Eddie growled, hissing louder, until he stopped and took a deep breath. Robin had been teaching him how to control his emotions, though hers were mostly panic attack related. He leaned into the touch, closing his eyes, “SSSSSStevie.” He whispered.

Steve felt tears spill out, instantly throwing himself at Eddie, “Yeah, Baby, it’s me.” He murmured into a cold neck that still felt so familiar, “Welcome home.”

Buck’s sharp intake of breath, a near gasp, tells Eddie all he needs to know about the efficacy of his actions. 

“It’s me,” Eddie says. Very quietly. Not all that confidently. Because, yes, it is him behind the steering wheel. He’s not out of his wits anymore. But also, no, he’s not exactly who Buck remembers. 

Buck’s hand retracts. The knife clatters against the paved walking trail as his palm slaps over his mouth. He makes a muffled, choked sound into his hand.

With Eddie’s life out of immediate jeopardy, his brain switches focus to his damned heart. 

“It’s me,” Eddie says again, more like a plea. He feels his chest start to constrict. He had thought he could deal with whatever he would find, following Buck. But, really, he thinks a rejection now would shatter him. He simply doesn’t think he’s strong enough to bear the pain of that blow. 

“Buck, please, I-”

Buck cuts him off with a crushing bear hug.

I spent the weekend doing some much-needed creative exercises. I dove back into scripts and classes and studying shows I love (Currently working through Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 1 and the first three seasons of Teen Wolf). I made progress on the story bible for the pilot I'm working on (I'm so excited about it!). I caught up on and revisited some episodes of TV shows that I love.

I revisited the tail-end of 9-1-1 Season 7, for example. I missed the 118!

That season was full of great disaster-specific outings AND character-driven explorations. It was a good balance that really snowballed in those final three for a TENSE finale. And the work Ryan Guzman does in that episode? When Christopher won't look at Eddie but Eddie has to make it abundantly clear that he loves his son? I'd go out on a limb to say that's some of the best work he's done.

And then I realized I hadn't finished the last season of Grey's Anatomy for some reason. I think all the shows were on at the same time, and I got overwhelmed. ANYWAY, I watched "The Marathon Continues" last night and thoroughly enjoyed it — and not only because Amelia and Link are almost, sorta, kinda communicating again. I thought the cases were timely and interesting. I like the wellness angle because it is so deeply important to translate to fictional doctors and their very real audiences.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share some of these thoughts with you. As fall TV gears up once again (Yay!), I'm going to be spending A LOT more time here and on my Substack.

Yay! Thank you for asking. In my head, I'm calling it the "Eddie is a Disney Princess Fic" so be prepared for some Snow White type moments....if Snow White was a vampire and her animal followers had flesh stuck between their teeth. 😍

Make them stop? How is Eddie supposed to do that?  The man waves his shotgun again and Eddie’s afraid he’s gonna accidentally pull the trigger so he makes a clicking noise with his teeth and tongue like you do for a cat. “Um…bats?” The screeching cuts off and one raises it’s head to look at him. Oh shit. That worked. “Leave him alone. C-come here.” Eddie opens his trembling arms, feeling foolish and slightly insane for thinking this might work. But both bats release their prey, flapping their wings and shrieking in Andy’s face as he scurries backward out of their reach, struggling to his feet to scramble to the truck. It’s already in motion when he manages to pull himself over the back gate, yanked in by two of the other guys as it peels away, tires squealing.

So, Ghost Eddie or Vampire(Kas) Eddie? Why?

While I love a good ghost story, it breaks my heart for Eddie to be dead. I can kinda do a temporary death where Eddie is actually in a coma or something, and the "ghost" part is Eddie astral projecting...but even then, so much angst. I am not an angsty kind of girl. I stay far away from tragic love stories.

That being said, I LOVE supernatural Eddie. Vampire, Werewolf, Witch, random Cryptid, being like El, I am totally down for that. There is so much potential for stories like that. Plus, Eddie gets to live.

i always figured eddie would be the vampire because of the whole goth thing and steve would be the werewolf because of his... hairy chest.

I am! But as the notes say, it's only Being Human ISH. Werewolf, vamp and ghost share a house coz that's cute LOL It's been so long since I've seen the show I don't think I could remember the personality quirks and storylines. But anyway, yes, that's what has be by the throat rn.

I think any permutation of it would be good and could DEFINITELY see Eddie as the vamp and Steve as the werewolf. I went with this way because I could totally see Steve being the suave vamp (as vamps usually are) who's been around for decades and knows it all, and Eddie being the feral pup that he is LMAO

It could also be any other vampire that thinks he’s a threat. That thinks he’s against them. It could be someone from the church. Someone who genuinely is hunting vampires, realized his deceit, and has decided to do something about it. It could be an undercover cop. Law enforcement is allegedly trying to crack down on anti-vampire crimes, but it’s hard when anyone and everyone can cry self-defense. Buck could be a suspect in illegal activity. It wouldn’t even be false. 

There are countless options for who might be following Buck tonight. Only one of them is good. And even then, only potentially good. Only hopefully good. He needs to be careful. He’s not getting fucking killed this close to getting Eddie and Chris back. That would be some sort of sick joke. 

Buck devises a plan.

He sends Sophia his live location through iMessage. Tells her that he’s being tracked but is going to lead the stalker to one of the usual spots to deal with it. If he doesn’t send her their safe word within the hour, call the police. 

Sophia’s text back is filled with worried expletives and one final question.

Is it Eddie? 

He can’t answer that yet. 

It’s a seven minute drive from Hen’s house to Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area. Most of it spent driving on La Cienega Boulevard. Buck tries to focus on keeping calm and not looking behind him too much. He doesn’t want to reveal that he knows he’s being followed. 

Although, the driver of the CRV doesn’t seem to be doing much to conceal their behavior. They’re as subtle as a building on fire. They only drive a car behind Buck. They signal when Buck signals. Merge lanes when Buck merges. Really, where did they go to stalking school? 

Several more texts ding through from Sophia as he drives. They pop up on the Jeep’s CarPlay screen.

Is it Eddie?

I know you said to wait an hour but if it’s not Eddie I’m seriously freaking out. 

He has to ignore them. He can’t deal with anything but this right now. He doesn’t have the required composure. She’ll calm down. The two of them have been in crazier situations than this. It’s just the added stress of knowing Eddie is nearby getting to her. He can’t fault her for that. Not even a little bit. He’s going through it, too. 

Buck turns into the main road for the park and holds his breath. Not even thirty seconds later, he can see in the rearview mirror that the CRV has followed after him. Okay. So this is happening then. It’s getting dark. It’s January. They’re about to be in a wooded park, alone. Buck has followed leads here. Dealt with this place at night. Experienced danger. He understands the risk he’s walking into. He’s just never brought the danger with him. 

He drives all the way down the main road and parks in the first long, oval lot to the right. Not the main parking lot by the playgrounds, but the one by the lake walking trail. He doesn’t wait to see if the CRV parks beside him. Slowing down, changing his cadence - that could all tip the stalker off. Again, if the stalker doesn’t already know they’re being obvious. So Buck does a quick check of his person to make sure his knives are where they should be, then climbs out of the car and starts walking. 

He turns to lock the Jeep behind them, using the motion as an opportunity to confirm that the CRV is pulling into the lot. Good. They can follow him around the lake, too.
