the crème de la crop;

the first 2 eps i thought it was fine, but it didnt really captivate me as much as id hoped. but then ep 3 changed everything for me. i started to think "how could living armour work logically? everything so far has been edible, so this must be too, right?" i actually managed to think of the exact thing that this series did. that really made me realise the worldbuilding in this was something unique, and it only got better and better with each episode. its really managed to captivate me and i look forward to "delicious donderdag" every week :)

ANIME ORIGINAL LETS GOOOO absolutely bonkers show that almost slipped by me because it initially tried to fool its audience into thinking it was a regular dramatic military show. it still is but theres also a giant robot who plays by saturday morning cartoon giant robot rules. if that sounds like tonal whiplash to you, trust me, it is. and its amazing. have i mentioned how homoerotic this one is as well? yeah. originally a tier below this one, but immediately after finishing this post i watched the newest ep. i had to make an exception and edit the list because ep 9 changes everything. i havent been gobsmacked by a show this hard in a while.

(return of the) show(s) that execute their own premise very well;

i havent read the manga for yubisaki to renren so i cant compare, but the quality of this adaptation has been very consistent. you need a little sweet romance every once in a while :) this is one of those series where the characters really grew on me the longer it went on. im always a fan of mixing realistic struggles with romance and this one has been doing it well so far

adaptations that are ok (i read the manga for both of these);

i've been a mashle fan since before s1 aired. and the anime has some good changes and additions here and there! but its not very consistent in terms of quality, it does that shonen thing where the animation quality suddenly spikes for certain action sequences, but it also frequently had a lot of scenes where they recycle shots a lot and nothing interesting happens on the screen for a considerable amount of time. still! its a fine adaptation. and yeah the op for this. blew tf up lmao? very strange to see happen in real time

i actually rlly like the manga for this one. i read the whole thing up until vol.6 before the season started (all that was available back then) and it made me cry multiple times throughout. i was sort of missing that connection with the show, though some of the later episodes still hit. its mostly to do with the animation quality, which isnt that great unfortunately. the voice actors are knocking it out of the park though

is this show good? i. uh. will you hate me if i say yes...? objectively, i know its not that good. especially in the animation department. but if you like other Umatani shows, you'll like this one. it's got the same brand of goofy reactionary humour mixed with gimmicky tacky characters and crazy stupid plot twists. ive been faithfully watching this one each week and I'm afraid i've become very invested. overscientific indeed

i was so beyond excited for this one. i replayed the op a million times, watched each preview, rewatched multiple episodes. and then. ep 5 happened. and i started to realise. oh this show kind of sucks doesnt it? the pacing of the first ep was great, but the rest? way too fast. it became clear with ep 6 that theyre trying to do a double cour show with half the length, which is why they started hauling ass plot-wise. now. i was an arajin apologist for the longest time. but at that point i honestly started to loathe him. even when he stepped up, his praise still felt sort of unearned. and to top it all off, shindou's motivation sucked so he felt like a lousy antagonist. ep6 was better than 5, but it really made me lose my enthusiasm and hope for the series. and right as we were talking about them probably not having time for a filler ep, ep7 happened. feels like a waste of time to do an ep like that when you've still got a whole 2nd arc to go through. but who am i

it started off pretty good honestly. but then chris went to the hospital and it kind of just dwindled from there. this season does so much with characters that have not even been properly introduced like how am i supposed to care about these people if i barely know who they are. the stuff with finn and leo respectively was good though. but the lore dump? lord help me. also vijay just kind of. exists to be there in the background huh? i would not call him a main character they never give him any attention. wendy had another ep again and he didnt get shit. again. also i think finn was stupid as fuck for not listening to lala but again. who am i. i know we cant destroy high card because we need a show but. cmon man.

reason why im behind is because most of the eps are a bit heavy so i kept. not watching them. its starting to get rlly interesting though so i'm def gonna catch up this is one of those robo-racism shows so i have to really watch out to see where its going. dont want another marginal service situation...

sorry this is just. a little too boring for me. its charming, sure. but i think this wouldve worked better as something with an 11 min timeslot instead of 23 min. theres just a bit too mu- or well, too little for me to rlly get into this. i think reading it would be more fun for me personally

2020s animators need to take notes on costuming tips to be able to make characters stand out in environments and to treat there characters better be it fashion or color coordination,

yes you can have a color coded character and not rely of a palette to be able to bring out there complexion,

Animators need to take notes, how to properly show kids, and even their audience that good clothing could be put onto a character of any skin tone,

complementing their features while proper fashion can do justice, that goes into making a franchise making a product to sell for marketability in retail & consumers.

if the character or product can be sold with a great design if executed flawless by character, design, costuming, and the app that come within the series,

This goes to the fandom cause there might be future artists reading this who probably never read, or look up fashion brands, either haut couture or brand clothing and don’t have that knowledge But that shouldn’t stop you from being able to experiment with different palettes or what goes into your art.

The fandom needs a wake up call that not only is everything’s perfect and people have the right to critic and criticize a show or any form of art.

ive been obsessing about your baby ducks au and seeing it everywhere. im rewatching my neighbor totoro right now and i can totally see house raising the kids on ghibli movies! hed have that box with all the movies in dvd.

thirteens favourite would be princess mononoke,for obvious reasons,two adass girlies,but i like to think chase would lie and say his is spirited away because it has a monster and a cool dragon when his favourite is actually howls moving castle cause my boy chase is a hopeless romantic lol

Eeeeeeee I love this SO much!!! I seriously can't put into words how huge this is making me smile. Of course Chase's favorite is actually Howl's Moving Castle, and House and Wilson and Thirteen totally all know it, but they let him pretend it's Spirited Away so he doesn't feel made fun of (plus Spirited Away rocks, it's always a great one to watch on a movie night). (Something something once they're teenagers, they finally tease Chase a bit with it, and it's about being as nit picky with his hair as Howl is😂)

And Thirteen's fave being Princess Mononoke, omg YES!!!! I need to put that one on sometime soon, Ghibli movies are really nice to have in the background because the art and the music is always so beautiful! (I'm sure after I watch it, I will have a lot more to say in particular about bby Thirteen loving it! I've never actually seen the whole thing from start to finish- I wasn't raised on Ghibli movies, so I only first heard of them when I was in high school. lots of them I've only seen parts when they're on while hanging out, or the handful that my gf and I have watched together the whole way through. But now I have good reason to watch it ASAP :D)

House totally has the box set with all the DVDs, and around the time Chase (age five) first gets placed with them, Thirteen's (age three) favorite toy is a Totoro plushie basically as big as her. She likes to make him outfits for whatever they're playing, and she loops Chase in on "stealing" clothes from the clean laundry for them pretty quickly. Then after he's dressed Thirteen pulls Chase into imaginary play with her and Totoro. Sibling bonding :) (Of course the outfits never match but look charming nonetheless. I'm imagining one of Wilson's button down work shirts buttoned crookedly, a tie tied completely wrong, and one of House's baseball caps)

overall fgo is alright but some parts of it is straight up incredible HOWEVER all of it is seriously held back by being a gacha mobile game and has to work around that limitation

WITCH ON THE HOLY NIGHT

now this is peak. the most gorgeous tm work by far i have to say its simply an incredible read all around. even tsukire did not look or work or sound as good as mahoyo did even tho it came out almost ten(?) years after

on the story front i loved it too with a special shoutout to soujuuro being one of my favorite characters in TM (i say this often not my fault type moon keeps releasing bangers)

however mahoyo has two issues for me:

the story is clearly incomplete: i dont mean its just nonsense or whatever but when nasu said its the first of a trilogy you can just feel that in the story with alot of things being left in the air. this wouldnt be an issue really if mahoyo 2 wasnt basically dead....

i didnt vibe with the slice of life scenes as much as i usually do in nasu works: this isnt a flaw in the story more so i just didnt like em idk how else to word that

mahoyo is a great read however and i highly highly recommend you read it or else

all of the characters are simply chefs kiss. while the visual novel is incredibly dated and the art is even worse you have to understand this is nasu and takeuchis first ever visual novel made on a barely existing budget.

the vn is split into two with a near side and far side.

while the near side is really good with arcueid and ciels route (ignore how ciel was actually really fucked over even in her own route its laughable and my girl deserved better) the far side is so much more better and really is where the soul of tsukihime and shiki the main character lies

i cba to review it properly besides saying PLEASE READ IT RN or ill cry and you dont wanna see that do you....

FSN is simply tms best work all around. while i prefer tsuki over it and find the tsuki side of TM more interesting FSN overall is much stronger on most fronts but especially its main characters

im not a fan of remaking classics on the level of tsuki. with all its flaws i still find the original to be good enough to not need a remake...

this is how you do it folks. the story was elevated on nearly every level and if it was the complete story id say its the best ever in existence ever forever fr. its just that good.

there are three things i really want to point out:

while maybe goin overboard i really liked the buffs all the characters received and in general the whole worldbuilding is so much better now with idea bloods and principles and vampire hierarchies and arcueid inflation scenes (heh) its just epic

ciel got a so much better route that actually feels like a ciel route and not just arcueid route 2 electric bugaloo (and getting fucking cucked)

noel is peak

this is peak type moon and when red garden comes out it will be even BETTER especially with satsuki route because satsuki deserves it

there are some other short stories i havent mentioned like garden of avalon, notes, MAGNITUNING (look it up you wont regret it) its all great and worth the time of reading

eventually i wanna play CCC and read some other stuff like maybe prillya DDD, fgo jp like lb7 traum and whatnot

- i will continue to support my theory that daniel actually wanted to keep the tapes and take them out of the trash once louis left

so overall... something is weird about why louis is doing the interview again and it probably has to do with lestat, something happened in the first interview and idk what but we will see it eventually, louis is an unreliable character/lying? (why?), louis uses lestat's ways of thinking and words to describe things which definitely means he's seen him since 73

finished watching supernatural s1-15 in 3 months! here are my opinions on the finale!

(warning: probably unintelligible, and very ranty) (+ obvious spoiler warning)

episode 18 was fuckin emaculate. genuinly. it was amazing. the one thing i didnt like about it was how it jumped about, same with 19.( i dont blame them for it tho, it makes sense with the story, i just didnt really love it.) 19 was good for the most part and served as a decent ending but was missing castiel and eileen (mention + presence) which sucked but what can you expect yk,,

episode 20. i have. so many issues with episode 20. WHY DID THEY EVEN????? LIKE TWO MENTIONS OF CAS, NO MENTION OF EILEEN, DEAN FUCKING DIEING, SAMS WIG, ???HEAVEN BEING LACKLUSTER???? it was so. just disappointing. cuz it could've been great. the end part of 20 was the only good part (jared and jensen signing off of the show). the show should've ended on 19 tbh. thats how im seeing it anyway. in my mind thats where it ended, but like, with cas and eileen back.

what i really disliked:

deans death. im pretty sure everyone hated that. and the whole like thing of him dying was really,, sorta,, weird? like; why did it go on so long?? did it happen bc he doesnt have god given plot armor anymore or was it just cuz?did jack see it? how did he feel about it? did he care or did he be all omniscient because he became god?? how did he survive that long? logistically? there was a fucking rusty rebar thing IN HIS SPINE (or like RIGHT NEXT TO IT??). WOULD THAT NOT?? PARALYZE?? OR WORSE???. and, im sorry, but i hated the forehead touch. it felt weird man. i get that they were close but,, not that close? even when they were more unhealthily codependent they wouldn't have done that. i think so anyway. i dunno. also. DEAN HAS SHOWN MULTIPLE TIMES AND IM SURE THE WRITERS WERE OVERTLY AWARE THAT DEAN DID NOT WANT TO DIE ON THE JOB. HE WANTED TO RETIRE WITH SAM AND CAS. ALWAYS WANTED THAT. he often said shit like "we're gonna die on the job, draw the short stick, thats just how it is, how its gonna end for us." (mixing quotes from the top of my head so, not exact) which he clearly thought would happen because pessimism but he NEVER wanted that. for HIMSELF or SAM. dean dying in this episode IS A CRITICAL DISSERVICE TO HIS CHARACTER.

sams mystery wife and (non mystery) child. BLURRY FACE WIFE. WHY IS SHE. WHY. also- how did he recover (seemingly) so quickly? i mean- if he really believed dean was gone FOREVER. when death hasnt meant forever in forever, how would he be so okay? idk. also, idk why, but sam having a kid seems very bizzare. could just be me. also. where tf is eileen. is she the blurry face wife? why would they do that if yes? (could be a load or reasons, either way they couldve like, said it was eileen, if it was supposed to,, idk,,,)

one or two mentions of castiel. did the writers just forget his CHARACTER IMPORTANCE?!?!? HES SO IMPORTANT TO THE STORY??? HE GRIPPED DEAN TIGHT AND RAISED HIM FROM PERDITION. HE LOVED DEAN. DEAN (INARGUABLY) LOVED HIM BACK. he (castiel) deserved SO. much better. my friend who has watched spn since she was a baby AGREES WITH ME. i GRRR I GRR I GRRR!!!! cas not being in this episode is such an aggravating disservice to his character. he deserved more. the fans deserved more.

When I started LMK, like. just last month actually, I was ELATED to see Wukong like that was a fluffy silly monkey!! Like ain't no wayyyy they're just gonna introduce him like "yeah so I met THE monkey king and told me I was his successor and then I never saw him again?" shows who thought of doing that always changed their mind, so hooray! reoccuring character! I know nobody sees Wukong as a dad but I think of JTTW where he's the communal grandfather of all monkeys and like. I like me a Monkey King whose a KING and not a Monkey Jester looking out for his family of monkies on the mountain. im soft. he's like alone in his species. give him a monkey family. give me a good leader. he loves them SO MUCH. anyways. he's so squishy too like when MK was all "whaaat? but you're so cute and cheeky!" and Wukong was all "I KNOW" im crying, also when he was gushing over the bunnies on the moon. the line about "dorky mortals" what a goofball. but ooh the GOOD STUFF like when his voice goes all deep and growly when he's actually serious and angry like YES WRECK SOME STUFF UP. protective Swk is so good, and when he crashed onto the ship whumped out to hell and back OOH that was good too, so yum yum, and reminded me a ton of my old fav bc the whole "lying/pretending to be chill and relax kind of guy when you're actually doing Secret Important Business" is 100% his thing, but this time it actually gets revealed to the others lol. but yeah that aspect of Wukong is so fun because I can write so many tactical schemes with him. I love how they dragged him out of retirement to still be cool and active. "You should have stayed buried." had me on the edge of my seat as one of the first Things Are About To Get Real moments. Its also neat how sometimes his dialogue shows slivers of his Great Sage Wisdom Style of Speaking coming out. I went to rewatch that ep and also forgot how much of a stupid cartoon villain Macky was there lmao, I was hoping they wouldn't send him blasting off like team rocket every episode, at least that's started to change as of S4 XD I wonder if the theories about the journey failing hold any merit, stuff like "Wukong is not the loner he pretends to be" and all the other itty bitty behavioral clues are so fun to dig into.

I ADORE THEM IN EMP S1!!! their dynamic is so unique there because of how wholly and overwhelmingly soft/positive it is. theyre allies from the start and BEST allies… auuughh.. yesshh Joel gets sooo defensive over Jimmy in s1 its beautiful. how quick he is to go absolutely murder mode for Jimmy. but how quick he is to be soft for him too. SIGGHHHHH. its my dream fr. the possessiveness.. YES.. theyre just SO important to eachother and it drives me crazy. he treats Jimmy so special. the way that he has little rooms for just Jimmy and Lizzie in his palace… the special roles they both hold… his wife and his best friend… there is def such a special connection there. and the possessiveness, Jimmy has so many more allies and close allies than Joel does. Joel just enforcing and affirming his station and specialness to Jimmy every once and a while.. by insulting his other allies augshs.. augh.. I just love them

also, for anyone else mulling over boundaries still; if you want specifics he just said he finds it “a bit weird” and iirc he didnt really say you cant do it. he just doesnt get it cause hes such a wifeguy. if youre concerned you can still tag it properly/keep it out of main tags. but if he was Really upset by it he would Not be encouraging and escalating it, and making the jokes he does, and putting them in his videos, and liking comments people make about them, and the tweets he makes, and and and and… if people are harassing u on behalf of him, they dont really care about what hes comfortable with, they just wanna punch down at someone. alright i have THOUGHTS ok, and they are to do with thirteen's era. (no i am NOT going to just straight up go and hate on her era listen to me for a moment)

her era was really far from being as bad as the fandom seems to think, because as a new fan i went to it expecting it to be... really bad because of the amount of hate people gave it and it just. really wasn't that bad guys. now im talking mostly on the basis of series 11 because that's the one i have watched properly, i half-watched series 12 and know next to nothing about the flux/series 13 and very little about series 12, yes i'm going to rewatch them at some point and actually focus, but i've heard people like series 12 more than series 11.

to the point tho. series 11 is NOT that bad guys. i'd review the episodes like this:

"the woman who fell to earth" is a solid introduction to thirteen, the story was alright and i really liked thirteen at the end and overall you could see her personality very quickly. a pretty strong start for her and i really liked jodie's performance (as i do in all episodes to be honest)

"the ghost monument" is controversial as in people hate it a lot i believe, and i know the plot is mid and i didn't give a shit about the side characters, but i still really enjoyed it, especially the weird cloth-looking things, they looked really cool and the episode was just visually gorgeous (as is the whole season tbh), so as an artist i really paid attention to that.

"rosa" is, in my opinion, a pretty strong episode about a very important topic. i liked graham in this, i think bradley walsh's performance was pretty good and i loved how they gave spotlight to the bravery of rosa parks and talked about racism. and i liked the lighter parts too. the doctor isn't banksy... or are they 👀 the villain was sort of mid but he didn't feel like a huge part of the plot anyway, so it's alright imo

"archnids in the uk" was alright to me, i wasn't a fan of it, really. i found it sort of boring, but it did have its moments. i feel like the doctor was a bit out of character at the end, and just wasn't a big fan overall, so this is one of my least favourite episodes.

"the tsuranga continuum" was also okay in my opinion. first i quite liked it but thinking back it was pretty badly executed and the companions were sort of just useless and i didn't care about the side characters like. at all. the pting was mildly interesting to me, but i'm really not a fan of this episode and wouldn't rewatch it

"demons of the punjab" was really good. i found it really interesting and i loved the "demons"! the story overall was good and i liked the side characters and just really enjoyed this. i also know nothing about the partition of india so i learned a little bit about that which is great since i love learning about history.

"kerblam!" was a pretty good episode for me. the plot was alright and i did like the side characters and loved jodie in this!! a pretty solid and enjoyable episode for me.

"the witchfinders" i really liked once again, love the historical episodes in series 11 folks!! the guy who played king james rly stole the show and i loved the performance, and jodie was great too. the plot was good, the resolution was a bit boring tho. i just really like this one too, and had a great time. and villa was rly sweet. the companions were sort of boring to me but to be honest that's with every episode

"it takes you away" was alright in my opinion, some parts i liked but to be honest this is like a great idea executed kinda badly, i kind of wish they had talked about A CONCIOUS UNIVERSE!!! more (sounds so interesting) and the side characters were mid and pretty forgettable

"the battle of ranskoor av kolos" is okay in my opinion, i liked that we had some conflict between the doctor and graham but otherwise this was pretty mid, the villain wasn't a Finale Type Of Villain and not even worth to be a recurring character lol, he worked in the first episode and should've been forgotten after that tbh.

"resolution", the new year special was pretty good, i think it was an interesting way to use the daleks and pretty well written, loved thirteen in this and the plot was good from what i remember, really a pretty goos episode.

alright, i'm done rating. as you can see, overall i thought series 11 was pretty good, maybe 6.5-7/10? idk, but i did enjoy it. my biggest problem is with the companions. i feel like they're pretty badly written, i don't really care about any of them and the performances were mostly mid to me (no hate to the actors!! i know nothing about acting or "a good actor" as a concept lol, i just go with the vibe they give, but for me they very rarely gave any emotions at all, but i know it's to do with bad writing as well). i feel like chris chibnall understood the doctor's character pretty well, but didn't understand the importance of companions as people who challenge the doctor and keep them from becoming someone who feels they're above humans. the companions just are really important to the series, and i feel like chibnall doesn't understand this. in this series they just sort of. hang around. and three is too many in my opinion, at least one of them is always pretty useless. in addition to that, i think a lot of the dialogue in this series was really stiff and felt unnatural which is also something i disliked.

anyway, i think that's all for now. i might do more of these reviews when i rewatch doctor who, because i do plan to (and make my mum watch it as well, lol. i've already got her into good omens, and we have been extremely exited today btw)

I think the whole episode 11 - jang uk is having n angst period because the thinks mu doek doesnt love him back - thing is realy nicely balanced with the cute relationships around it and also maidservant kim being the best mom, and i probably wouldnt have enjoyed the jang uk angst parts as much without park dang gu and jin... second young lady jins date, and the whole flower debacle.. its all very cute and really nicely supports all the relationship tension of our main couple

also i think they are adorable, talk about poison and muder my belovedes <3

but like. Does naksu is jin bu yeon was always? Look. We all know mu doeks body is definetpy jin bu yeons, that isnt a question, now the soul thing? I moved thru so mmay theories today thta i think i should finish all the episodes that are out before i actually form an opinion

Now, i think the way jin bu-yeon dies before she was born and the ice crystal was used to save her definetly has lasting effects. Also im extremly curious about what would happen if Naksu tried breathing in the Jin style.

also i use naksu for our main girl for two reasons: I find it extremly easy to say and also it sounds like its a moniker so it describes her as a person and isnt like the name given at birth or whatever, so to me it feels kind of lees convoluted when im trying to talk about the alchemy of souls : Naksu dhifted from the body she was in to mu doeks, idk it Does make sense to refer to her as the constelation mages daughter as naksu, to previous mu doek as jin bu yeon and to current naksu as mu doek, but idk, maybe its just that i like it when she kicks ass. Really enjoyed the servant competition- oru girl is competent and also its good to cheer with the boys ( all of the present generation male central charathers play off each other great as a friend group, the crown prince just fits in wonderfully)

but like. Okay so i be like: Im not sure Naksu will even go wild. Also i think she was quite close to the mastery of hwansu when she switched souls.

Also also im not sure mu doeks soul was properly tattered to the body, idk, i have several reasons.

The "naksu was the original soul of jin bu yeon and so has returned to her own body" theory is quite compeling and i have two places where an exchange of souls is likely to have happened, however i am lening more towards "at birth" mostly because of the age we are shown naksu having memories of - the second likely time, when the ice stone was unsealed, seems unlikely due to this, but i may need to rewatch a few scenes to be sure

The main reason i am intrested in this is the parallels between her and the founder of jinyowon, mostly via the whle jang uk and founder born under the kings star when the ice stone is causing trouble..

However i was originally leaning more towards an alchemy of the souls of the parents, there are some vibes, to me at least, of her father the constelation mage, not technically being her father (which of course doesnt make him actually less her father emotionally, the guy still raised and cared for her) however the jinyowon thing is by the female line..

It felt a lot like there was some baby swapping, like maybe jang uks father (not the king, i just cant remember his name) messed upa bit during the process of bringing the child to life and accidentally switched their souls..

Either way i doubt the girl we see talking to her mother about birds is naksu. I definetly agree that naksu and lady jin have a lot of simularities, but i have some doubts about her being the daughter she raised

either way its fascinating. Originally i just assumed that yes he did fuck up a bit in the resurrection and so jin bu yeons soul was not properly tethered to her body and it got worse after she unsealed the ice stone - yes i believe naksus soul is the one thats exceptional inside the body, frankly i originally assumed mu doeks soul was kinda tethered a bit outside of the body, but we dont really see an aura of that via the dog.. I mostly assumed thta due to the jang uk doesnt get seitched with the alchemy of souls scene

however i do think that naksus soul and the body mostly just need a bit of finagling to properly click, and i originally assumed that would mean learnibg hwansu. I am still very intrested in the possible effects of jin breathing techniques - it think it would be really funny if she was just breathing wrong and that was fucking up with her energy flow and making her way magically weaker then she ought to be. Yes its probably some type of metaphysical/mental block, but like wouldnt it be funny?

But like yeah, Lady Jin said that Jin Bu Yeon should be able to remember how to use spells quickly, so i think her body should be decently alright for a mage to use Some amount of magical power

Maybe her natural energy was in some wya damaged when unsealing the ice stone? Or maybe she needs to acess some memories or some shit, there are many possible answers and i should probbly go beyond ep 11 to rafo

ok so i was able to log in thru my laptop so as promised here are my in depth thoughts on korra 

so we all know lok came out like years ago so what im gonna say probably has already been said like thousands of times over and over, i think when the show first came out i saw a few eps of it and then lost interest. but i was like 15 or something at the time so whatever. 

i have noticed that some people who liked lok better have said that people who dont like lok as much just dont like change, and idk maybe thats the case for some, but my main criticisms for it come from the writing inconsistency. to be clear i thought it was a fun watch! did i like it? yes!!!! did i love it?? not so much 

i think what bothered me the most was the pacing of the seasons. now i hate to draw comparisons to atla, but they are part of the same franchise so I Will. one the things that made atla sooo good was the overall mission stretched over 3 seasons, with secondary villains providing obstacles along the way (zhao,zuko,azula). this provided characters with enough time to develop along the way before facing the big bad (and building suspense to ozai), but still keep viewers entertained through out the seasons 

i didnt really feel the same suspense when watching korra. each season had its own conflict and big bad, and none of them really seemed to come back up a lot after they were already defeated (except for korras uncle i forget his name tbh) 

i think any of the conflicts they had would have worked if they chose to stretch it out over the course of the show. the anti-bending movement and the water tribe civil war would have worked best in my opinion. they anti-bending movement drew valid criticisms from non-benders, and its really weird to see all of that vanish after amon was defeated. as for the civil war, unalaq (i googled his name lol) fell flat for me, he was just kinda evil for the sake of being evil. at first his motivations were intriguing and made a good foundation for the conflict aka wanting to combine the tribes again by bringing spirituality to the swt by force, bt when they brought in raava and vaatu it just kinda fell apart. this plotline definitely would have worked over several seasons, but i kinda wished the origins of the first avatar would have remained a mystery. i am a firm believer of not everything has to be answered

because the show was so fast paced, characters really didnt get the spotlight they deserved, esp team avatar. the gaang in the first series really all had their moments to shine, and you could rewatch the og season over and over again and notice something new every time! im not sure how well this would work with lok since the rest of team avatar didnt really get their own fleshed out story lines 

korra: had the most development ofc. i think she was a great protagonist. it makes sense that aang would want his successor to get proper training before getting thrown into avatar duties  considering he was like 12 when he had to fight the firelord. korra, whos been training her whole life, is caught in the middle of conflict in republic city, and its clear to me that her training took a priority on bending the elements, rather than being a mediator, which is the duty of the avatar. she’s like a fish out of water, and as the series progresses and we see her fight the antagonists, this takes a toll on her and she goes into a slump. it was a very fitting arc for her character 

mako: he was just kinda there for me. bit of a jerk at first and i really did not like the whole korra/mako/asami love triangle. it was all very forced imo considering korra and mako only knew each other for like a few days before they were confessing feelings for each other 

bolin: obvs the comedic relief character. the show doesnt do much for him either which is sad bc i did like his character, hes funny and has a cute design. ill draw another comparison to atla and say that while sokka was the comedic relief, his character was deeply complex and multilayered

asami: my angel my daughter my cinnamon apple. im glad asami was able to reconnect with her father before the show murked him. korrasami was cute and they compliment each other: korra, whos more emotionally reserved vs asami who is empathetic and patient but also is true to her beliefs and holds her ground

omg just realized park hae young also wrote 'my mister'. is this why i like it so much. my mister is my top 3 dramas ever. i was actually going to rewatch it again because it helped me out before but i kinda wanted a new story so i gave mln a try and i'm glad i did! wow... omg so i finished. the ending 😭 i'm just hoping he's taking that money and going to mijeong and living a life that he actually wants. also my heart when chang hee sat in class for the funeral director, and i suddenly thought that was such an appropriate thing for him tho im not sure that was the class he intended?? im not too clear on that cus it looked like he passed that door and then stumbled in there and realized it wasnt the right one but then the whole thing about his feet takes him where he should be, where he belongs 🥺 oh god i loved these characters and i feel like they did a good job at showing their stories and im satisfied with how it ended. it gave me about the same feeling the end of my mister did :') hopeful. i loved watching them do such normal things in life and have realistic relations and go through the motions. watching these things unfold in their lives and to reflect on mine. when the end they want to restart the club until it works, i'd join 🥲 why do i feel like i just finally let my children live their lives at the end of this ;-; also about your comment on the intros, i didnt this time and now i regret it 😩 i was just too eager to start the show so i only ever watched it the first time and skipped it jfgjf but what a lovely detail to do that, id have to check it out. and ty for your thoughts. tbh im not doing that great in the 'having someone to talk' to department. this year seems to be a year of loss for me. i lost my bf when he just left (so gu just leaving like that kinda hit a little hard) and then i lost one of my bestfriends, bc my depression was/is becoming too heavy and i stopped talking and replying for weeks and they took it as i didnt care anymore. and what mijeong said early on, about how u dont do anything and u feel exhausted and every relationship feels like work.. thats how i felt with the situation and yeah. i regret how things ended but maybe its a lesson i needed to learn. but it was really nice seeing how mijeong starts feeling that way but ends up making these good friends from a place where she hated. she finds love and beauty, shes in a better environment, she looks back on her younger self and sees she was/is very passionate, but maybe it just got lost in her life. i want that. i want to find that love again. i want to be liberated 🥺

yes, she did. i haven't seen any other dramas written by park hae young, but i have heard praises about her writing. it looks like you really love 'my mister.' i'll definitely take a look at it when i have nothing to watch.

the ending is really great and i loved it very much (i wrote my thoughts about it too, you can see it here if you're curious). i love the symbolism shown through that coin; like it's trying to say that everything's not lost and you can still pick yourself up again.

and yes! changhee's ending is one of my absolute favorites. you're right, that class was not the one he meant to attend. but it's one of my favorites because it's about him finally coming to the conclusion that that might be his purpose given all the experiences he had with the people closest to him dying.

i felt really hopeful for the characters and myself as well. i'm glad it did the same to you. and i really mean it when i say i'm glad it made you feel something.

and about what you're going through, i'm really sorry to hear that. but i want to let you know that you're not alone in how you feel. as a person with depression, i also find myself wanting to be isolated from others, both personally and virtually. i feel too much burdened and feel like a burden. i also know how it is when it affects the relationships you have with people you really treasure.

what i want to tell you right now is please take care of yourself. please get professional help if you can afford it. if not, don't forget that you still need to take care of you. try to get enough sleep, try to eat at the right time, stay hydrated, and try to take a little shower if you think that will make you feel better. it's not easy, but after doing that, you can pat yourself on the back and say, "you did a good job."

i mentioned before that i see myself in mijeong a lot. i knew it was because of this. the way she dreads every single day and has to play the role of a woman who is loved — it hit too close to home. to be fair, i dropped my liberation notes at episode 2, not because i did not like it, but because i relate to it so much that it was getting too heavy. is this why we relate to it so much? anyway, i picked it up again thanks to that i have found something that makes me delighted every time i talk about it.

As a former mcu fan, and as someone still partially invested in some characters, marvel's fall from grace is not so much funny as it would be to an outsider but it's just kinda frustrating and sad. like. they had this whole amazing concept, all these comics to go off of, and for a while they were really good at it. hate them or love them, marvel has produced some genuinely good content, especially in it's early run when quality still mattered. they had well developed characters and just generally a really cool universe where each of them got their own seperate plotlines but also it all connected and it was just. genuinely good.

in phase 1/2 even the worst movies had some good to them. thor 1 was kinda shitty but loki was an amazing character (don't get me started on him, holy shit im so mad about the tv show, yes half my most popular posts are about it) and it was a good introduction to the extended world. tom hiddleston and chris hemsworth had a great dynamic and both got to be invested in the characters they were playing and made them feel more human. it was a joint effort.

and then, things started to suck. producers stopped giving the actors any sort of creative license, and they started focusing on money, and phase four fucking sucks. i used to be obsessed with every new marvel movie, and now im shocked that there has been over a dozen new movies/shows released. i have watched five, and can only remember one with any sort of real fondness. Loki the tv show i outright hated and he was my favorite character. it was actually, no joke, sad to me.

and now everyone gets to laugh and be like "oh yeah we all knew this was coming" and the thing is that they're right. they're right. but that doesnt make it less frustrating because it could have been so good. it could have been great but now they're putting out products that are retroactively making everything before it suck and now the only watchable movies are the ones that have a real arc outside of the setup/payoff of other movies, and those are almost always the work of individual directors and actors. here are the movies/ tv shows i like and would rewatch, even with all this new shit: Thor Ragnarok, it is one of my favorite movies and i want to scream and laugh about how the new thor movie turned out; both Guardians of the galaxy's, james gunn is a genius and it was so much better when they were completely detached from the rest of the universe; no way home, the only new thing i have genuinely really enjoyed, but that was because of the amazing actors; Agent carter, in my opinion very underrated and i look back on it fondly, it is completely unattached to the rest of the universe; ant man i think was good but i cant remember. thats it. i have not watched moon night and i dont plan to but from what i've heard its pretty good.

the rest is just. completely spoiled by the other movies and it sucks. thor ragnarok should be ruined by its ending but i just. i love it too much to give it up. like it was good, it was genuinely good, and then they ruined it. fuck you corporations, go suck my dick
