i'm sorry if this is a bad question, but do you know anywhere online that i can read the vampire chronicles books for free? i don't want to ask my parents for money, i don't think they'd approve of me reading these types of books. i'm 19 but financially dependent on them for the foreseeable future so i don't wanna make them mad
hi! oh no, definitely not a bad question!
here's a link to a shared google folder that's been going around for a while with The Vampire Chronicles books 1-11, plus some other stuff like 'Interlude with the Undead' aka Armand's Playboy Story and 'Vittorio' (a standalone vampire novel that doesn't really have anything to do with the rest of TVC)
and here's a folder I just made that contains the PL-trilogy (so the last three books in the series)
they don't display by publication date in the drive, but the chronological reading order is as follows:
Interview with the Vampire (1976)
The Vampire Lestat (1985)
The Queen of the Damned (1988)
The Tale of the Body Thief (1992)
Memnoch the Devil (1995)
Pandora (1998)
The Vampire Armand (1998)
Merrick (2000)
Blood and Gold (2001)
Blackwood Farm (2002)
Blood Canticle (2003)
Prince Lestat (2014)
Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis (2016)
Blood Communion: A Tale of Prince Lestat (2018)
a little bonus for the DM fans: I extracted the Devil's Minion's chapter from QotD a while ago to make your life and mine that much easier
enjoy, and welcome to our fandom if you decide to stick around! ♥️

When I first read hoo I though for the longest time Hazel was a daughter of Hecate Instead of Pluto.
I still stand by the fact that Hazel did not need to learn the Mist Stuff for the labyrinth, she has literally been showcased to control the earth and tunnels in SON, what was the point???

any tips on working with or reaching out to Hecate/Hekate? she seems lovely to work with <3
Hey there!
Mother Hekate is so lovely to work with! I've been working with her for nearly 8 years now and I have learned so much from her. She is so loving, understanding, and helpful.
Tips for reaching out:
Learn some of her myths and cult history
Learn her signs and symbolism
Learn her epithets and call upon the one that speaks to you
Light a candle and introduce yourself to her
Give her an offering of your choice
Find something you want to work on and ask for her help
There is no wrong way to reach out! Just be honest and genuine. She is very understanding and, in my experience, was easy to approach. So don't be afraid to stumble over your words.
I hope this helps! May your path with her be blessed!

@bybullets has requested a story : i... should probably thank you for that. / for hekate
a prompt i lost.
Tumblr media
Smoke clears , dust settles ; for now , at least , danger has passed.  And the moment which follows is a brief , s t o l e n peace , snatched by careful hand , seized and held close in a world that might seek to otherwise squander what little of it remains ( & indeed this place seems a land rife with threat , to her , so desolate & stained with the rancid scent of gunsmoke ) .  So soon , too , does the mother-witch sense it fading , slipping from her fingers like the sands at her feet.
What a pity …
But there are more i m p o r t a n t things to focus on , namely the oddity of a man hunkered behind her embroidered robes like a cowering child.  Lo’ it is not often gods considered to folly , to MEDDLE ; Hekate , who in her too-long eternity always put a greater and greater berth ‘tween herself and her vainglorious peers , never was one to abide by such superfluous stipulations ( who cares ? if mortals were so fragile & useless as the gods claim , why not get involved to correct their course ? ) .  The more she scrutinizes him , the more s k e p t i c a l she becomes.  It is divine happenstance , surely , which brought their paths together— NOTHING MORE .  And regret is not in her nature.  But he is no mere mortal , that much she can diagnose.  Whoever this is , is SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY .  Though , what that s o m e t h i n g is , Hekate hasn’t the answer for quite yet ( she’s no word for it , to be more apt , the residual energy that pulses from his person is rather uncanny & unruly ; he reeks of chaos , the scent reminds her of titan-fellows & takes her back to simpler times bygone ) .
Dark brows hoist together briefly in c o n f u s i o n at the other’s words , only for features to lax shortly thereafter.  The woman turns in place , her skirts fluttering against the grit with the motion of graceful movement , ❝ Ah , well , no need , ❞ Casually , Hekate dismisses his offer of gratitude ( it feels unnecessary , after all he is not one of her flock , she is not seeking recompense for her graces just as he did not call on her in the first place ) .  ❝ It seemed only right I help at all , hm ? ❞  Tone is genial , lighthearted , she offers conversation with a s m i l e .  But the tone shifts when she continues , ❝ I do wonder why you do not protect yourself.  You’ve a strange power about you , surely you might think to use it ? ❞  At least , it might be l o g i c a l to use it , especially to a god.

Demon or Deity? Deciphering Spirits
How to Confirm That You’re Talking to a God or Goddess
You can thank St. Augustine of Hippo for this. In the early 5th century, he wrote a theological essay against Paganism titled, “On the Divination of Demons.”
St. Augustine’s mother was Christian, and his father was Pagan. He understood both sides. He wrote many philosophical arguments for Christianity, his largest being The City of God.
In "On the Divination of Demons," Augustine fought back against an Oracle predicting the invasion of Serapis's temple. He argued that demons spoke to this Oracle. He argued that All Pagan Gods are Demons in disguise. He ridiculed fortune tellers and future predictions comparing them to the circus.
Do the arguments hold some sort of validity?
While Spirits can impersonate Deities this guy can now be pushed away from the conversation.
I’ll ask that question again.
Can Spirits Impersonate Deities?
The short answer is Yes.
The long answer depends on your experience level and knowledge.
If you are not used to the deity’s signs and how they communicate or you do not know which red flags to look out for, you are prone to deceit.
Red Flags
Messages drastically change.
For example, recently you received a sign from the Goddess Hekate. She wants to work with you.
The next week, another message tells you that She does not like you. Deities rarely change their mind without good reason. Double-check the divination.
People do everything for you.
Deities do not need to go through others to speak to you. Even if you cannot hear Them directly, deities can contact you in different ways. If someone else does a reading that sounds completely different, question it. Especially if it’s random and not requested. Do not use other people to translate things for you all the time. Spiritual journeys are personal. They are meant for you, and a lot of people get hurt this way. Other individuals love taking advantage of people using them for their own motives. Just be careful out there.
Overly negative or apocalyptic.
I've heard an unfortunate amount of people claim that the world was going to end after contacting their spirits. Why would they let go of any worshippers telling them that? Why would they give someone a sense that they are the chosen one? Question that. No one is special. We are all here for the human experience. Try dealing with that first even if you don’t want to.
The entity is trying to force you into things.
You do not need to answer spirits. A deity could ask you to worship Them. You can also say no. With years of experience, I have never heard of a deity punishing someone for not working with Them. If a message sounds like a threat, then question everything, and it’s probably best to ignore it.
How to Guarantee That You’re Speaking to a Deity
Ask the same question several times.
Use your preferred divination technique writing down all the answers to your questions. After one day has passed, repeat the same method rephrasing the questions asking the spirit again. Sometimes there are inconsistencies. Question what feels right and what does not.
Thoughts belong to whom?
Are the thoughts yours or are the thoughts external from you? Sometimes strong emotions are mistaken for spiritual signs. It’s easy to get caught up in your own head and let it take over hijacking the metaphysical exercise. Always question this. Did you anticipate a specific answer? This can also lead to derailment. It doesn’t hurt to ask again to gain confirmation. Before contacting your deity, stabilize your emotional state.
Gathering valuable resources.
Contrary to what I just said you can seek outside opinions for valuable resources. Become familiar with the deity’s information beforehand and ask about other peoples’ experiences. Just don’t let people take over the work or tell you how to think. Try to do the work yourself. Research is key.
Different techniques for you.
Try a different form of divination to see if the answers are around the same or greatly vary. This won’t hurt and it will help you learn more. Trust your instincts in spirit work. It’s okay to question things.
Protection orders.
If there is constant anxiety and worry, then do yourself the favor and put-up protection wards before spiritual communications begin. It will give you some peace of mind and it doesn’t hurt anything at all.

♣︎New Tarot Game! (Open)
⚠️: First of all I want to apologize for not answering your previous questions from my previous game (the one about moodboards), I started to feel really bad energetically and emotionally but here I am! and this time I will answer ALL of them! are you ready?
The only issue with this game is that I will only answer 25 asks, unfortunately I don't know if I have the energy to answer more than that (maybe in a future).
What is this game about? The theme of this game is: Spirit Guides/ Gods
How can you play this game? Well! You have to send me an ask, and you have to ask just ONE question for your guides/ your favorite god. When you send your question I will answer you as if that god/guide is answering you, here is an example:
Ask: "What Hekate thinks about me?"
Answer: "I think you're a chill person, maybe a little introvert, you have a lot to see in this life..."
Obviously, I will answer your questions with what the tarot cards tell me.
Rules to participate:
Reblog
follow
It's not an obligation but if you can leave feedback it would help me with my reading and make me happy!
Please don't ask far-fetched questions like: "What does GOD himself think of me?", I don't think I'll be able to answer since it's a question that (for me) covers a lot of information.
I do not guarantee that my readings will resonate, I am not a tarot professional but I still hope you will be entertained by my answers. I do not guarantee that they will be very long answers, so please excuse me if one reading is longer than another.
♥︎ Please be patient! ♥︎

May I ask what your current plans are for the poly routes? And if they will be a V format or a full triad?
I love all of your characters and if you choose to go full triad, I think the dynamics would be lovely and a real breath of fresh air in poly representation. But I also understand that that’s a lot of writing, haha.
I remember reading earlier that you were considering a Hekate/Hermes poly, which really delights me as those are my favorite routes! Hekate being a relatively lonely long lived person ending up with two young partners who adore her really hits for me, so I hope that one sticks around. Thank you again for the story! (It’s my current hyperfixation lol)
As it happens, I can finally answer this, because I've done up an outline of the next game and given it a lot of thought.
So.
The poly route will indeed involve Hekate and Hermes, and it will definitely be a triad. There will be extra scenes that specifically build on it, though the route you choose initially will be 'primary' in the sense that that RO's subplot will be the one you're mostly following (and only in that sense; the two of them are not inclined to view partners as primary or secondary, even though some people are and that's fine, too!) But there will be opportunities to weigh in on the other RO's plot, just not as directly all the time, and the second RO will appear in the first one's subplot more often if you're in the poly, if I've planned this right.
Because of all the complications involved even in doing this one poly properly, I've decided I'm only going to do the one, but I am going to try my best to do it properly, so it feels like a real triad relationship.

Any advice on strengthening ones relationship with Hekate?. Thank you kindly.
Hello 👋🫂
One of the amazing things about Lady Hekate Nyctipolus is how broad her domain is. She has so many forms and facets, so take everything I say with a grain of salt! She appears in unique ways for everyone.
Many of her followers associate her with witchcraft. I personally don't consider myself a witch, so I'm a little distanced from this aspect of her. But if you do practice some form of witchcraft, perhaps you can start dedicating your spell work to her.
If you engage in spirit work, ancestor work, death work, deity worship more broadly, etc, you might consider asking Lady Hekate to aid in that communication. And for her protection in her role as a death/underworld goddess. I know she acts as a guide for many of her followers (myself included!)
Communication is definitely key (pun intended) for many Hekate worshipers. Getting into a specific kind of divination (I personally prefer tarot, but there also pendulums, meditation, etc) can help strengthen that relationship. She is the patron of boundaries and thresholds after all! Find a way to breach that wall has been a personal favorite way of connecting for me.
For me, I think I sense Lady Hekate most clearly in those 'in-between places.' I love going out for nighttime drives and finding her at empty intersections, in abandoned buildings, in any space that feels liminal.
And, of course, go ahead and ask her! In my experience, Lady Hekate is one of the more 'receptive' or 'quick to answer' deities that I work with. That's not to say that she is at your beck and call, she definitely demands focus and commitment. But she's also very dedicated to her followers just like they're dedicated to her.
Ask her in your own way with whatever divination tool you prefer how to advance that relationship! Start offering antique keys or vintage things or flowers and see how she responds! I personally don't buy the whole 'you have to wait eagerly for a sign from Lady Hekate before you start working with her.'
She can be intimidating and intense certainly, but not necessarily in a frightening way. Just in a way that demands respect. So as long as your approach her with good intentions, I'm sure she'll be willing to listen.
Thanks for the ask!

hello! i'm new to witchcraft in general. how do you talk to deities using tarot cards? i saw your post about hekate and i want to learn more
Hello! I hope you have fun and find fulfillment in your craft and all that :D
I personally don't have a formal way of doing it. I just... Speak their name in my head, and ask them to use the cards to communicate with me. I don't do it out loud but you can.
After that I ask if they're there, and once I get a yes I ask them whatever I need to ask. The actual questions themselves vary depending on the situation. My way of using tarot cards is pretty casual and intuitive- I don't do spreads and instead just asked what vibes right, and the answers are what fall out of the deck as I shuffle.
I use a mix of tarot cards and what I just call "direct communication" which not everyone does, so that's why I talk about more specific answers than you'd see on the cards- sometimes they aren't using the cards. But I find the cards to be an irreplaceable tool in my deity work, and I hope this at least sorta helped! Feel free to ask me to clarify or elaborate on anything.

Asteroid Hekate in signs
In astrology this asteroid shows us what we know and what we seek to know it can also help us understand how we think in the moment we are on a crossroad and from who do we seek answers. She’s the maiden, the mother and the crone, as the triple Goddess she rules also over the psych and intuitive abilities. The asteroid is activating in a chart when is in close conjunction (no more than 2-3 degrees) from the sun, moon, Jupiter, ascendant, MC or 1st house ruler, also when she’s at 29 degrees, part of a stellium or close to the lunar nodes (NN&NS). You can find it on astro.com, extended chart selection, type 100.
Asteroid Hekate in signs
Hekate in Aries:  You may ask guidance from a leader or authority. You may be prone in following influencers or celebrities that had a similar issue as you did and prefer to take your advice from there. As per your intuition, you may get short migraines when you are around negative energy.
Hekate in Taurus: You tend to surrounded yourself with nature and speak with your plants, this are the moments when we gain clarity over the issues you have. You also have to let go from overanalyzing and surrender to the 5 sense that you have. Intuitively you have a sensitivity to your throat and to smells.
Hekate in Gemini: You will seek guidance through your siblings or relatives. You have a keen interest in the occult science and astrology. You may be prone to talk a lot about this and seek new information about this subject. You may feel like tingly sensation in your hands when around negative energy.
Hekate in Cancer: Most probably you’ll seek advice and guidance to your mother or a motherly figure in your life. You need to trust your intuition more and understand why the stomachaches appear for no reason in different situation or you may feel like spines around your 4th chakra.
Hekate in Leo: At times you have moments when you ignore the very unique thing that makes you special. You need to believe in your instincts even when you feel egotistical in doing so. You may really love cats. Your intuition may come in a very powerful way, like a powerful short backache or chills down your spine.
Hekate in Virgo: You may need to balance the inner critique, sometimes people need that from you and other times they don’t. You may have a very homeopathic routine in your everyday life and have the tendency to search there for answers whenever you feel questioning yourself. Your intuition may be expressed through digestive symptoms.
Hekate in Libra: You may seek advice from your partner, a close friend even business partner or family member but they tend to relay too much on others. Even if the people you trust have all the good intentions to help you they are not you and sometimes is good to trust yourself that you know what is best for you.
Hekate in Scorpio: You prefer to go on a soul journey in order to find the answers you need. You don’t like to relay on others at all or ask for any kind of advice. I see this people looking in a forgotten library looking into old books to give them the answers they seek. Sometimes a different pair of eyes on a subject can be helpful.
Hekate in Sagittarius: With this placement you tend to trust your spiritual leader whenever you want advice or your teacher/professor. You may have a lot of trust and faith towards people that you consider they have higher knowledge than you.
Hekate in Capricorn: You will most probably trust your father whenever you seek advice or a father like figure. You may also help other when older by representing a father figure to them. You usually find your direction in life through hard work.
Hekate in Aquarius: You are quite picky when it comes to your inner circle and usually you go to them for advice. You can be quite compassionate and objective whenever someone is asking you for advice and prefer the same approach. Usually you trust your intuition more than anything else.
Hekate in Pisces: With this placement you will turn to astrology, tarot reading or any kind of spiritual practice for advice. Be aware to don’t lose yourself in “maybe” and “what if” situations, trust your intuition and also have a common practice in going to a therapist in order to be grounded.

Fears.
Tumblr media
Yeah, that's nice. But, why do you fear so much? No, I'm - serious, why?
A lot of the times, as sad as it is, I've encountered people who often lower their own power by fearing all the possible outcomes. Key word, love: possible.
Take it from me, for the first year or so of me practicing and getting close with deities, no matter how obviously real things were, I always had a lingering thought of "what if I'm just making it up?" or "they'd never say that to me."
While being able to differentiate your own thoughts and your own projection while interacting with deities or magic(k) at all is important, you don't need to fear it. If you mess up, you mess up. Nobody's angry or disappointed at you because the universe, your deities, they understand. You're only human. And you're trying. That's what matters. Trying.
Your failures are not measured, they aren't keeping score of all the times you accidentally fucked up something small like interpreting their exact wording or actions like if they waved their hands at a specific point in their sentence or not. You know??
Here's something that helped me: if it makes you happy, then fuck all else. Everything can technically be perception, anyways. If something's fake, you'll find out eventually. You'll be able to tell at certain points.
Lady Hekate once told me, "things are only as real as you want them to be."
Of course, grounding and else other are also important factors, but if the only thing that's realistically stopping you here is the fear of them being figments of imagination, fear of "failing" to reach out to them, ect... You don't need to worry about that, dove.
Most of the time, it's just brain fog. It's just the fear of the unknown, rejection, and other things of those categories. And that's all valid.
Most of the time, at least for me, it was the fact that I was in the presence of such magnificent beauty that made it difficult to believe I was actually experiencing what I was. It was the amount of incomprehensible, out of this world love that the entities I connected with had for me. It was - them, in general at times.
I suffered from psychosis for years when I was younger before starting my journey, and despite how I've gotten drastically better over the years, I still contain some certain... Tendencies you could say.
I constantly questioned if things were real, and, yes asking questions is alright. It's great to do, actually. But don't drive yourself into a sorrow pit over them. You know? Don't bring yourself down more by believing those overthinking fears you can have at times.
I was under such immense fear of making things up that I failed to realize that the only reason I was having such a hard time was because I doubted myself way too much. I was way too hard on myself on multiple cases, and still can be at times unfortunately.
Have more faith in yourself, have more patience with yourself. No matter how experienced someone is, there's always something new to learn, and learning is difficult for everyone at times. Everyone's gone through the same thing in their own variation before, and most likely will a thousand times again. The more you learn to trust yourself, the more you can overcome that battle - which might be one of the hardest, to tell you the truth - the smoother this will get for you. But it takes time, it takes breaks, it takes tears and effort, it takes a lot. It takes you.
One of the points of magic and deities or whatever the hell else is to simply learn to enjoy life more. To live. To experience. You can't do that if you're too caught up in your fears to see how far you've gotten, to see at all.
You know the truth, deep down. Just shh, and listen. It may take a long time, but eventually, you'll find your answer to the reality of things. To the emotions of things. Don't pressure yourself, don't suffocate yourself with doubts and fears.
Everything that's yours is yours, everyone creates their own realities and fates. Just be you. Just grow. Just feel. Just... Live your journey. Everything's gonna be fine, bee.

I been working with Osiris and anubis for about two years. Two days ago hekate came through my pendulum and she won't let me talk to my other gods she tells me no. Does that mean I won't be able to talk to them or is she wanting me to do something? I've never had a deity not let me talk to others before.
I sometimes get deity work questions like this, and I honestly don't know how to answer them. Because I don't conceptualize divinity the same way as a lot of folks, and I don't believe in things the same way some of you do.
And, like, if I explain things to you the way *I* think they work, it can feel disrespectful. Like, you clearly have faith that things work a certain way, and if I tell you that you're incorrect it kinda makes me an asshole? Like you've come to me asking me for guidance with a faith I don't share.
I don't believe in gods as literal things, I think of them as faces of an inhuman higher power we better use to understand ourselves and the world around us. How they act, how they respond... comes from within us.
But you don't seem to. And that's great. My faith is my faith, your faith is yours, and neither of us is in charge of the other. But, again, it makes it hard to answer this sort of thing. Because, if you look at the world how I do, the answer is that whatever god is doing what is coming from you. The answer is that the part of you making the connection to something higher is dictating this -- and not Hekate as an external deity.
But I don't think you see it that way.
So, if I put myself in your shoes, and look at things the way I think you see them -- remember that you decide who you work with. I may not believe in literal gods, but I believe in other things -- and I think I can related to them that way.
If I were you, I would put a firm boundary down and tell Hekate to fuck right off if I needed to. You have the agency, you are the witch. Your relationship with an external being or force is up to you and them, and a third party has no control over it. Put your foot down, be confident, and be certain. You're the one in control.
Know it, internalize it, live it.

Heyy im new to Hellenic polytheism and I was wondering, what are some things I should research about I’ve researched stuff like , Key Concepts, Prayer and how to pray , the 8 pillars , divination ,and some of the rules but I’m not really sure what other things I’d need to research before I start worshiping the gods any suggestions? :,)
Hi friend! Thanks for asking this because I was thinking about making a post on this because I realized it’s officially 8 years since I started my worship! If you are looking for more resources after this, my #resources tag has some stuff! Also I try to tag everything so if you’re looking for epithets, I use #epithets, prayers are in #prayers, etc.
The first thing I would recommend is looking into reconstructionism vs revivalism. This can be a big thing on moving forward in exactly how you’re going to structure your practice. Revivalism and Reconstructionism are basically whether you are building a new, modern practice based on the old ideas, or trying to rebuild the practice of the past.
You mentioned prayers, and I think you’re on the right path with figuring out how to pray. One thing I would add in this section would be epithets and areas of influence. This helps makes prayer more specific to your needs and calls upon specific aspects of the gods. It also is great for getting an understanding of the whole scope of the gods you’re praying to. Like I am an Aphrodite devotee so praying to her Aphrodite Areia epithet is normally accompanied by a different request than say Aphrodite Pandemos.
For building personal practice, finding out about festivals, the lunar calendar, and holy days. For example, Hekate’s Deipnon and Noumenia happen at the new moon and the days following are sacred to different gods (Aphrodite is day 4 if you were wondering!) You don’t have to follow the lunar calendar if you choose, I just use it because I follow the lunar cycle for my witchcraft practice anyway. Festivals are also just fun to have, and the most common ones are the Athenian festivals, and I’m a sucker for a good celebration I will say.
For personal one on one worship and devotion, I recommend looking into historical offerings. Before you develop your own UPG and personal associations, the historical offerings can be a great place to start without worrying about whether they’ll like it or not. I also stand by the idea that research is worship, so seeing that you put time into looking into their past can be a great bonding moment.
Also I would say there’s not really any strict rules. The biggest thing for me is not eating/drinking offerings to the Chthonic gods (also look into what being Chthonic means) and maybe I would consider the Delphic Maxims to be rules, but there’s really no strict book of rules to be followed. If you’re respecting the gods, the culture, and the history, it’s pretty much a learn as you go kinda thing.
I think you’re on the right path though! If you have any questions after this, just send them in and I’ll do my best to answer! I have so much I could talk about but this post is getting so long, so I’ll just leave it here.
Thanks again for the ask <3

Some time ago, I was looking for a set of dice to dedicate to Hekate for divination.
I absolutely love divination with dice, for their versatility and speed in delivering a clear answer. They work very well alongside other forms of divination by bringing out the core message of the reading.
Anyway, I came across a set of yooperlite dice and got really excited, because they glow like lava under UV light. Hekate has intimate ties with infernal forces so this seemed to match her aesthetic perfectly. I restrained myself though because I wanted to be sure Hekate approved of them too.
After my initial excitement faded, I reached out to the goddess and received a set of visions. She wanted plain dice, not this fancy stuff. They were to be made of either bone, or pure obsidian with gold lettering, and nothing else. I was almost disappointed, because the yooperlite dice look like glowing lava rocks. But she preferred otherwise (at least in my case) and I got the impression that she thought a tool should be practical and not distract me with pretty patterns and textures.
What I do really appreciate though, is that her instructions were clear and precise. I think it's a great sign for a deity to tell you their requirements in detail, and for those requirements to be different to what you thought was right.
If you get "no, I want this thing, from this place, of this material" then I think you can take it as an achievement in your practice. Because you asked, and the deity answered, and that kind of reciprocation is what relationships are built on.
