something something Dracule Mihawk the "Marine Hunter" and and Roronoa Zoro the "Pirate Hunter" both forming bonds with a straw-hatted pirate scamps and neither being any sort of normal about it in any sense. mihawk walking out of one of the most influential and historic battles at the very mention of shanks having entered stage left. the way zoro acts at any given time around luffy. "I Roronoa Zoro, pledge..." the marine dog not attacking what he was meant to attack, "I agreed to fight, but not Red..." never red. fucking pain. the loyalty. the unspoken affection. the pirate hunter becoming a fucking pirate for the wide smile under a straw-hat. " I like your hat." "I swear I won't lose again." bringing a poster miles across a sea because the man you love loves the boy on that poster. following a boy because he's your direction. the boy in the straw hat is your captain, is your rival. is your king. he has black hair. he has red hair. he's smiling at you from under his hat. god. godgodgodgodgodgodgodgod-

apparently it's the 15th anniversary of zoro's sacrifice in thriller bark (not sure if manga or anime though) so yknow. time for more zolu of course
one of the many things about zoro and luffy is that despite how their approach to certain situations might differ at times, they're still pretty similar at their core, sometimes to a comical degree (see: their definition of what a hero is back in fish man island arc). and this understanding of how the other works is what leads to moments like jaya,
Tumblr media
this little one in water 7/enies lobby,
Tumblr media
and follows consistently all the way to wano arc.
Tumblr media
and I was thinking the other day about how their childhoods too kinda mirror or parallel each other's in a way that emphasizes (to me, at least) how special zoro's particular protectiveness toward luffy is, and why luffy relying on zoro that way is just as special.
the specifics of their childhood stories are different but both luffy and zoro have a turning point of sorts that's marked with the grief and loss of sabo and kuina, respectively, which leads them to say these:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I cropped the panels, but luffy's also crying here)
it's important to note zoro and luffy had dreams/aspirations before this, to become the greatest swordsman and luffy's secret thing that we've yet to learn about (that ace, sabo and the crew now know). however, losing kuina and sabo is what prompts them to, on top of that, strive to become stronger for other people's sake. for zoro, it's his way to honor his friend and fulfill their shared dream. for luffy, it's to avoid losing the people he loves.
throughout the story, zoro and luffy end up expressing similar frustration and sentiments due to this. there's zoro innerly chiding himself for being too weak as he trains in the aftermath of arcs like little garden, alabasta and thriller bark, where the crew get stuck in situations in which zoro isn't able to help as he wishes he could (the wax cake, the sea prism stone cell, kuma). there's luffy swearing he won't lose a single member of his crew even if it kills him (the davy back fight) and reproaching himself for not being able to save any of the straw hats in sabaody, with the worst of it right after losing ace in marineford.
(and man do I have thoughts about bon turning into zoro, out of all the straw hats, back in impel down.)
anyway. as to why all of this is meaningful - when zoro agrees to join luffy, he mentions that his goal to become the greatest swordsman is all he has. yet as the straw hats go from journey to journey, and with a certain emphasis in luffy, you can see how zoro's view slowly shifts. he's now driving himself to become strong to protect them as well, to the point he's willing to set aside his ambition and offer his own head in exchange for luffy's, if it means he can ensure luffy's life and safety. that's huge. as mihawk inwardly points out, zoro has something, someone he values even more than his ambitions and pride. and it's through his adventures with luffy and the crew that he becomes closer to achieving that initial dream of his.
whenever people wonder why zoro's as loyal as he is to luffy, aside from all the reasons why luffy as a character has earned that loyalty through his actions, I also remember that one line koushiro said to zoro in a flashback: "the pinnacle of swordsmanship is the power to protect what one wishes to protect and cut what one wishes to cut. a blade that injures all that it touches isn't really a sword." while sure, it works in the context of later power ups like haki, imo it perfectly captures zoro's character growth too and what luffy's given him. the current zoro isn't lost or directionless with only one purpose in mind or to live for, bounty hunting as a means to survive. he has a home to return to, people to cherish, to protect and keep getting stronger for, people who nurture him in turn. kuina's death is something zoro couldn't have prevented, and losing people in accidents like those is something that could happen again, but still within the limits of what's preventable - zoro can protect his friends now.
as for luffy... zoro kinda steals the spotlight when it comes to grand gestures of loyalty/devotion and being the MC of the story means luffy fights for different people (both crew and non crew), carrying their wishes and hopes as if they were his own. he gets help and learns from others as well and all members of the crew are important for luffy to achieve his dream one way or the other, but the way he relies on zoro specifically is so subtly meaningful to me. we don't get as much insight on luffy's inner thoughts, still, we do have context.
for someone like luffy, who is at his innermost genuinely terrified of being alone and losing the people he loves, the fact that he trusts zoro to protect and keep everyone safe (even luffy himself) is so good. as shown above, luffy vowed to become strong in the first place to ensure he'd never go through loss like sabo's again and this vow is all the more renewed after ace's death. luffy has to be strong for everyone but... the fact that he can trust zoro to follow his lead even when others might not understand his reasons to do x or y, that he's so unwavering in his faith that zoro will protect the others when luffy can't, entrusting the people he cares about to zoro, whom luffy also cherishes - it's all pretty special. everyone in the crew has their strengths and zoro may not be the only fighter, but all of them, including sanji, fall under his protection whenever it's needed.
it's not only about raw strength though. zoro's also there to set luffy straight and remind him of what's important when the circumstances arise, like in water 7 or punk hazard. and even when they don't necessarily agree, like wrt vivi's situation after the reverie in marijoa, luffy knows when zoro's right and acquiesces (albeit grumbling a little) because, once again, he's also aware that zoro wouldn't just risk everyone's safety. luffy listens to him. and their reunion in wano too, luffy's sheer happiness at the sight of him again, is a very clear example of how much luffy adores zoro even beyond all that.
although luffy isn't aware of what happened in thriller bark (that we know of), zoro's actions are proof of why luffy trusts, has faith in, and relies on zoro as much as he does and why it's so important for luffy to have him by his side, considering how afraid he is of being unable to keep his loved ones safe. this is more on a speculative note, but I can imagine how comforting that must be for luffy - to not shoulder that on his own.
happy anniversary!

there's just something so inherently poetic and romantic about zoro's devotion to luffy during all of wano that makes me go completely insane.
he sees luffy for the first time in like a week, which might not seem much but for them, who are used to feeling each other's presence all the time and did not have a good experience with being separated, it's torture to not be together. so of course they go all happy, kicking their feet and blushing when they reunite. then his captain is like "hey, this is tama. tama is our friend now" and zoro takes it extremely seriously and protects that random kid he has no connection to because luffy says so and, well, because she's just a kid and everything, but still i think zoro instantly accepting to adopt tama is really cute.
zoro acts like luffy's enabler during this arc, because his captain might do the most impulsive and reckless shit, and the dude will support him to death. even when he's just competing against kid and law to see who's stronger (or the dumbest), luffy is the most serious he's ever been here. of course, zoro has some moments of "okay, gotta stop this idiot" but it turns out zoro is fucking stupid too, and getting into a fight in the middle of a party while you look for your captain is just,,, so them.
and all of this is just silly moments that make you think "oh, okay, zoro is whipped, yes. we already knew that". but then he pulls the most romantic and poetic things we've ever witnessed in anime history and honestly, i fucking lose it every time he does things like this.
drake goes to them and asks if he can be on their side (btw dude could have just told luffy he knew koby somehow but okay) and zoro instantly goes 'protective first mate' mode and says "haha no the fuck you're not. disloyal people are the worst and you'll always be like that. once you betray someone there's no going back" which is something i love about zoro because, even if from his perspective drake was actually a member of kaido's crew and they're supposed to be the bad guys, zoro respects loyalty so fucking much that he doesn't care whose side are you on as long as you have your priorities and beliefs on the right place. i find that beautiful, especially knowing what comes next.
zoro is gifted a sword that theoretically could cut hell, to then being then perceived as the king of hell for the same reason, and then actually going to the battlefield and referring to it as hell itself because they're fighting to death against two emperors and saying "if you're sending our captain to hell, you'll have to take me with him" because he would quite literally go to hell for luffy. and then the guy goes and tells law "hey, this is going to hurt like a bitch and i might probably die. if that happens, you know, just take care of the rest because luffy trusts you too" and he goes and awakens his conqueror's haki without even meaning to and not even giving a single fuck when kaido tells him because his only ambition and will at the moment is protecting luffy and fighting for him. that, and also the countless times he saves luffy without hesitation during this fight, which are too much to remember but i swear every time he gets in between one of kaido's attacks and luffy, my heart does a backflip and i die. and also, the gentleness in which zoro treats luffy when he can't fight. the way he protects him when luffy puts all of his undying trust on zoro. they make me go wild.
the fact that luffy is constantly saying in this fight (and always, of course) that he's going to be the pirate king and showing it clearly with all of his parallelisms to roger, and then zoro pulling things that make him quite obviously the king of hell, just makes the whole "captain and first mate" thing seem so little for what they actually are. because we have 3 different couples of this kind in this story, and nobody compares to these two, because they're not just a captain and his first mate, they're literally kings. and i haven't watched more (i'm on episode 1030 if you're curious, uta time!) but i'm so excited to see how this develops. especially knowing the religious undertones behind whatever the fuck gear fifth is supposed to be (except for a lil cute and powerful af looney tune).

Our stoic Zoro is difficult to get close to, questioning the loyalty of all crew members before he gets to know them, he’s a hard shell to crack. That included you as well.
Your key to getting closer to Zoro was your desire to get stronger within the crew. You were tired of being weak and unable to fully defend yourself against enemy pirates and marines. The last thing you wanted to do was hold your crew mates back, so this was your best solution. Zoro spent all his time training anyway, so when you asked for his help, he gave a shrug and a grunt in response. You were in.
From that moment forward, you both spent a lot of time together. He could see your passion and seriousness towards wanting to better yourself for the crew's sake, and he respected that a lot. Training time expanded into spending even more time together; whether it be sitting beside him during dinner, having a drink with him during celebrations, or watching each other’s backs during fights, you guys were joined at the hip.
One specific battle left you severely injured, you hadn’t noticed that enemy pirate behind you while you were too focused on the one you were dealing with at the time, leading to you being slashed deeply across the back.. Thankfully Chopper dragged you away and began emergency procedure straight away.
After the battle was over, Zoro was the first to stop by and check on you. His face remained stoic as he nodded his head towards, chopper before turning to face you as you laid in your bed. You felt bad, even after all that training, you were the only one seriously injured.
Zoro sighs as you avoid his eye, taking a seat on the chair beside your bed. He felt angry, but not at you. He didn’t realize how scared he was that you wouldn’t make it from that injury until he rushed to your room where Chopper had taken you, and felt how relieved he was when he saw you up and alert. He cared about you.
“Need someone to take care of you, huh? As soon as you’re done recovering, I’ll see you bright and early in the crows nest,” he mumbles, standing up again. He was bad at expressing all these confusing emotions bubbling up inside him, so he decided to keep them to himself, leaving you to rest.
It took a few weeks for you to fully recover, feeling frustrated with yourself and your weakness, you hurry to meet Zoro in the crows nest, who hadn’t visited you as often as you had hoped during your recovery.
Making your way up to the crows nest, you could hear the familiar sounds of dumbbells clanging, meaning he was up there training as usual. As you enter, he nods to you in acknowledgment, before finishing up his set. It was back to training, but this time Zoro was even more strict on you, pushing you beyond your limits.
This went on for a week before you couldn’t take it anymore.
“Zoro, please I need a breather,” you pant, your arms already feeling like jelly from the hours you’d already trained this week, your body couldn’t keep up.
“No, not until you finish your reps,” he answers coolly, continuing his own exercises, glancing over his shoulder to make sure you were still going.
You were done.
You slam the dumbbell to the ground and spin around ready to leave the crows nest. You were trying your best, but each day he went harder and harder on you with no remorse.
“I’m done with this,” you grit, storming off.
But Zoro is quick as he puts his own weights down and races to you, grabbing your wrist. He pulls you towards him, spinning you so you’re facing him.
“You’re not done until you finish your reps. Are you going to give up already? You still have a long way to go,” He says between clenched teeth. He was doing his best to control himself and not do or say something rash, but that all crumbles at your next words.
“No,” you retort, snatching your arm from his grip, sending him a glare, “You’ve been pushing me to the bone all week, you never did this before! What happened to our training sessions when we first started? I can’t do this anymore.”
He stops you once more, grabbing your arm and pulling you into his chest so your faces are inches away from each other. He’s breathing heavily, looking into your eyes, his hands still gripping you to hold you still.
“I can’t lose you too, dammit!” Zoro screams, finally letting those unresolved emotions race out through his growing frustration and fear.
His heart almost races out of his chest when your eyes widen, those eyes he thought he’d never see again that one day after you were seriously injured. Without even thinking, his lips crash down onto yours with such ferocity, you’re frozen in shock until he pulls away.
It all made sense to you now, he was pushing you because he cared. He was scared that day and wanted to try and help you get stronger as soon as possible.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers, leaning down to press his forehead against yours, still not making any attempts to let you go just yet. “You understand now, don’t you?”
How could you not? You felt your face go flush as he held you close.
“I just can’t lose you.”
You're silent for a few moments, processing everything until you sigh and finally wrap your arms around him, shocking him now.
“You won’t lose me. I want to get stronger too, but this isn’t the way to do it.”
“I know, I’m sorry. If you still want to train with me, I’ll make it how it used to be,” he mumbles, holding you tightly to his chest, scared to let you go.
That was something you could agree on, so you both made it happen.
After that night, things seemed to move forward naturally between you. Training went back to normal, but there was this new tension between you. Zoro would be a little more touchy during training which would lead to heated makeout sessions later on. It was a nice change, one you welcomed with open arms.
During battles, Zoro was on high alert, keeping an eye on you at all times and always ready to step in to help if you ever needed him to.
It was clear how he felt about you, and maybe he wouldn’t express that verbally right away, but his actions always made it obvious that his feelings for you had a romantic twinge to them. One that would grow quickly the more time you spent together.

Zoros Training Session (18+)
Zoro x female reader. NSFW DNI if you are a minor
Warning: Pet names, face fucking, swearing and unprotected sex.(This is just a fantasy, please use protection lol)
Word count: 2,584
This is my first time writing like this so please go easy on me lol. I’m just hoping at least one person can enjoy.
Today as you rode the waves on the Thousand Sunny, your surroundings seemed more peaceful than normal. Instead of his normal antics, Luffy was passed out on the deck of the ship. Ussop, Chopper and Franky all sitting gathered around for a game of cards. Nami and Robin sat in lounge chairs soaking in the sun, sipping on fruity drinks Sanji made them as he was working in the kitchen. Since he was out of sight, you figured Zoro was up training in the crows nest during his free time. Everyone was at ease, besides you.
It had been 8 months since you agreed to join Luffy’s crew. As much as you loved it, you couldn’t help but miss the little things about life before you became a pirate. Like being able to walk down the street without worrying if someone was after you due to your captains large bounty. Or going to your favorite little spot on the edge of town looking out into the sea for hours, but most of all you missed sex. It has been so long since you’ve felt someone’s body pressed up against yours, their hungry hands tracing every inch of you leaving the feeling of excitement behind.
Normally if it were any other day you would have indulged in the moment with the rest of the crew, but today other things were heavy on your mind. Out of all the people on your crew, only one man peaked your interest. Zoro. You couldn’t tell exactly what it was about him that drove you wild. It could be his determination and loyalty to his captain, his nonchalant idgaf attitude. Or maybe it came down to something more simpler than that, more primal. When it came down to his physical appearance, everything about him had you weak in your knees.
As you sit there letting your mind wander, you can’t help but think. “Would he even be interested in me?” After debating it for some time you give out a sigh and say fuck it. You get up and make your way up to the crows nest. As you make it to the door you hesitate to reach for the handle. Instead, as if you had some sort of instinct you lean forward and press your ear on the door. Expecting to hear the usual grunts and groans of his regular work out, you were more than shocked to hear him moaning. Not only was he moaning, but it was your name. “Oh Fuucckk y/n, I bet you would feel so good wrapped around my cock.” Hearing those words made your core feel hot. You back up, completely taken aback by what you just heard. A million thoughts racing through your mind but the most prominent one was “open the door”. And just as your brain thought of it, your body followed in pursuit. You open the door to find Zoro pantsless sitting on the floor against the wall stroking his hard cock. Immediately, you guys make eye contact.
“It’s about time you came in” he says with a sly grin. “Wh-what do you mean by that?” You say trying to keep eye contact and not stare at his hand wrapped around his hard dick. “Don’t play dumb with me y/n, I heard you eavesdropping outside the door”. His confession makes you beat red in the face. As you begin to try to defend your actions he stands up and walks over to you. On his way over, you can feel his eyes piercing every bit of your exposed skin. Especially keeping his attention on your large breasts squeezing into a bikini top one size to small.
As he stands in front of you, your brain renders itself useless. You can’t manage to let the words in your brain escape to your mouth. Instead you stood there staring into his eyes as you felt the wetness growing inbetween your legs. “What? No words princess?” He reaches up and grabs your jaw. Trying to think of the right thing to say, the truth slips through your mouth. “I want you Zoro, I want you buried deep inside me!” with those words Zoro didn’t hesitate. He grabbed the back of your neck pulling you into a rough sloppy kiss, navigating his tongue around yours as if he were a professional. You couldn’t help but let a little moan out with his forcefulness. He releases you from the kiss using his hands to grab each side of your head. “All you had to do was ask y/n, but just a warning. I won’t go easy on you”
Zoro picks you up with ease, placing his rough and calloused hands tightly on your ass as your legs wrapped around him. He walks you over and places you on the workout bench. His same lustful stare burning straight into your soul as you try not to squirm under him as he stands tall above you. Zoro grabs the base of his cock with one hand, and uses the other to pull at your bottom lip. “Open.” He says under his breath, sounding more like a growl. The way he was acting you didn’t dare hesitate to do what he says, you’ve never seen Zoro like this before. Zoro was normally stern, that was nothing new. But this, the way he was talking to you, the way he was acting, you couldn’t help but crave him more and more. As you part your lips for him he doesn’t give it a second thought before shoving his cock straight to the back of your throat. The feeling of his member was so warm, it was so thick you could feel his pulse. You were so busy focusing on him you didn’t realize your eyes were tearing up, or the gagging sounds you made as his cock stayed deep in your throat. “ Mmmm, Are you gonna let me fuck your pretty face y/n?” Zoro says placing his had on your cheek wiping your tears away with his thumb. You manage to release a muffled “mmmhhmmm” while trying to focus on your breathing. Zoros lustful eyes still stared down at you, this time he was taking in the beauty of your sweet mouth around his cock. The pleasure was already immense and he hasn’t even started fucking your mouth. “Fuuucckkk that’s my girl” he groans with a smirk growing on his face.
Zoro removes his hand from your face and uses it to tightly grip your hair into a makeshift ponytail. As he begins to thrust in and out of your mouth you can’t help but let tiny moans loose every time he hits the back of your throat. Your eyes begin to scan his body. Intently staring at his abs as your eyes work your way up to his muscular chest taking quick shallow breaths. You look up at his face and you feel a sense of pride seeing his head thrown back and his mouth gaping open. “OH-MY-FUCKING-GOD-Y/N” Zoro says with each thrust as he grips your hair tighter. You could tell he was close by the way he started to pick up the pace and pressure, the harder he went the more tears began to fall from your eyes. Without warning his thrust became faster and faster until he forced himself as far as he could into the back of your throat, releasing his hot sticky cum deep in your mouth with a low groan. Zoro pulls his cock out of your mouth leaving a string of his cum and your saliva stretching from your mouth to his tip. Without a word your mouth follows the string of your guys mixed fluids onto his cock. You swirl your tongue around him making sure to get every last drop.
“I never knew you were such a good girl” Zoro says with a sexy laugh as he wipes the bit of cum sitting on your chin. “I’m only a good girl for you” you barely manage to get the words out through your shaky breaths. “That’s what I like to hear, now stand up.” You stand up, you’re so close his cock presses against your stomach and you can feel the heat coming off of his body. Zoro reaches his hands around your back and unclasps your bikini top revealing your plump breasts. Staring down at you half naked he begins to mutter a few curse words under his breath.
In one swift motion, Zoro leans down, cups your breast’s and places one in his mouth. The feeling of pure ecstasy as his tongue swirls around your sensitive bud makes you cry out. “Oh Zoro! Your mouth feels so goo-“ before you could finish, Zoro reaches up and places his hand over your mouth. “You have to keep quiet princess” he says muffled while his mouth was still on your breast. You started to squirm at the anticipation of what’s going to happen next. You can feel the wetness continuing to build in between your legs as Zoro toys with your body. He begins to take his free hand, rubbing from your breast all the way down to your navel. His hands kept going back up and down but every time his hand went down, it would get a little closer to your pussy. “Please Zoro, I can’t take it anymore. I need you, please give me your cock. I - I can’t take it anymore” with that being said he releases his mouth from your breast revealing a smug look on his face. “Am I making you that crazy y/n?” He says in a teasing way as his hands travel down to the waistband on your shorts.
Zoro doesn’t hesitate, he pulls your shorts and panties down in one quick move. You kick your clothes to the side, beginning to blush as you can feel him devouring you with his eyes. “Fuck” he says heavily eyeing your now completely bare body. He leans forward, grabbing his dick at the base as he begins to squeeze it between your thighs. Zoro begins to pick up his pace, rubbing himself against your sensitive clit. You tilt your head back enjoying the pleasure that only he can give you. He sees this as an opening and leans forwards leaving little nibbles in the nape of your neck.
“Ple-please Zoro mmhhp - I need you so bad” you say between soft moans as he continues working your body, grinding against your clit in almost a teasing way. “Are you sure you can take it?” Zoro says in a cocky tone. Seeing you begging this way was is certainly an ego boost for him. He stops moving in between your thighs, you can feel tears of frustration forming in your eyes. Zoro leans down a bit licking from your collar bone to your ear, sending shivers down your spine. “Stop teasing me, please I’m begging. Just take me already” he lets out a slight chuckle at the state you are in right now. He’s never seen you so desperate before, but he really enjoyed seeing this side of you. “Ah, so needy. But I guess since my pretty girl asked so nicely I can help her out.”
Zoro lays you down on the floor and places your legs on his broad shoulders . He begins to glide his tip along the wet folds of your entrance making you whine out in anticipation. “ I love how wet you are for me” he says as he slowly glides his cock into your entrance, making sure to go little by little so you have time to adjust to his size. When he finally bottomed out inside of you, both of you couldn’t help but moan at the feeling. “Oh Zoro!” You say while biting your hand trying to keep quiet. “Damn baby girl” he says while pushing his hand on your lower stomach. “You feel how deep I am?” He finally began to thrust in and out of you, keeping a slow pace at first until he began to speed up. Every thrust going deeper than the last until his tip kissed your cervix.
You’ve never felt this good before. Yeah, sure you’ve had sex here and there, but those times were nothing like this. The pure ecstasy you feel in this moment can’t be compared to anything. With his pace quickening, the pleasure became more intense. Your core began to feel hot and tingly, and you could feel yourself tighten around him. Zoro could feel it too. He released a low groan at the sensation, then he leaned forward pinning your body in half with his hands placed pushing on the back of your thighs, he began to hit all the right spots to bring you closer to your release. “Yeahh baby- just like that” he says with a shaky breath. You could tell he was close too. “Are you gonna cum on my cock princess?” There was no way the rest of the crew couldn’t hear how he was pounding you right now. The pornographic noises leaving the two of you, the smacking sounds of his hips slamming into yours. But both of you didn’t care, all that mattered in the moment was the orgasm that was approaching you.
“Yes, Uhhh fuck baby I’m gonna cum!” You moan, now trying to grind your clit against him. Zoro notices, he lets go of one of your thighs and begins to circle your puffy clit with his thumb. This sends you over the edge. That warm knotty feeling in the pit of your stomach explodes, sending waves of pleasure all over your body as you tighten around his cock, digging your nails into his hips as his thrusts begin to become more sloppy. You could tell he was close too. “Shit y/n!” Zoro says as his shaky breath begins to quicken. “I don’t know how much more of this I can take. Let me cum inside you” his eyes stare into yours looking for confirmation. You can only manage to give a small nod as you recovered from your own release. With your approval he beings to slam as deep as he could into pushing hard against your cervix, you couldn’t help but gasp. He pulls out and pushes in one last time holding himself deep as possible as if you are pulling him in. His hot cum spills inside of you, coating your walls. The sensation makes you both shudder pleasure.
You both laid there for a moment as he remained inside of you. You could feel your juices mixed with his cum spilling out of you and all over him. The sight began to make him hard again. “You wanna go again?” You say with a small laugh as you look up at him. Zoro gives you a smile and pulls away from you. Letting everything spill out. He leans over to grab a towel he was saving for after his workout. Using it he gently cleans the mess the two of you made on yourself and the floor. Zoro sits down beside you and pulls you into him, planting a sweet kiss on your forehead. “I think we should continue this another time. That is, if you’re up for it?” He says muffled as his face is resting on the top of your head. “Oh yeah definitely, but only if you let me take charge next time”. He lets out a little laugh “Whatever you say sweet thing.”

I know it doesn’t have the same drama or canon-backing as the idea of Zoro being trained and even raised by Mihawk since young, but I’m still a little surprised that there’s practically no fan works playfully referencing the fact that Zoro was originally going to be a Buggy pirate. Walk with me here. Here’s how we could make this AU fall in line with Zoro’s final, canon characterization.
Yes, Zoro was hesitant to become a pirate with Luffy at first because being a criminal would limit his freedom of movement in his search for Mihawk. However, let’s look at the reason he ended up joining anyway: blackmail and the fact that Luffy was offering a real, tangible way to achieve his dream
Crazy thing is, Buggy is kind of the only other pirate in the East Blue who could offer him a similar thing. Though he would rather die than freely discuss his connection to Shanks, he is a pirate with connections (and a connection to Mihawk even this early in the story isn’t too much of a leap if we take in his interactions with Buggy and Shanks, as if they go way back). Buggy could very much use this fact to get what he wants. And what does the cowardly Buggy want? Protection, of course. Security in his place as the top dog pirate of the East Blue. A spot that the arrival of an upstart demon bounty hunter could threaten if he doesn’t play his cards right. And of course, his troupe could use a sword swallower.
Now, would Buggy be genuine in offering Zoro an easy way to reach Mihawk? Probably not. I mean, I’m sure he’d fail his way upwards into making it look that way so Zoro stays around, but what I’m getting at is that he wouldn’t have to be. Because Zoro, specially bounty hunter Zoro who only has himself to lose, can be just a liiittle bit naive. Because he has so much pride in his own word, he takes other, less deserving men at theirs. We see this when he expects Helmeppo, despite all his faults, to honor their deal. He’s genuinely shocked when the deal doesnt go through and he’s stuck tied up in ropes. We even see it a little with his blind faith in Luffy from day one. Yes, Luffy is a more than worthy Captain, but also for someone who had to be swindled into swearing himself to Luffy’s side, Zoro’s sense of honor and honesty led to him going to immense lengths to protect him before he really started to prove that, specially considering he’s someone who was already causing him way too much trouble within days of knowing him.
And mind you, it’s not like Buggy would give him no reason to stay loyal, either. His influence over the East Blue wasn’t anything to scoff at, and even though as a man he’s pretty corrupted, as a Captain he’s kind of brilliant. It’s a running gag how much the Buggy pirates are in love with him. He’s got wits and charisma and ways of gaining loyalty. He and Zoro wouldn’t be too bad a match.
And when Luffy does make his way to this Buggy Pirate Sword Swallower Zoro, and is taken in by his skill, determination and overall cool factor? Baby that’s the most exciting part about this. We’d get rivals to lovers Zolu but Zoro is dressed like a clown

Chapter 2: Hidden Threats Revealed
 In the Sunny…
Sanji is talking with Usopp and Franky about when the group will be back. It’s getting late, and they should have returned by now. “I wonder what happened?” Sanji mutters, his worry evident.
“Brother, are you sure you’re worried about the group and not a certain someone?” Franky smirks, raising an eyebrow.
Sanji lights his cigarette, his cheeks tinged with a faint blush. “I just have a bad feeling about it, Franky.”
“Look, Sanji,” Usopp reassures, “Y/N is probably doing okay. Besides, she’s with Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Robin, Camie, and Hatchan. Nothing’s going to happen to her.”
Just as Sanji is about to respond, the sound of the transponder snail ringing interrupts him. He glances at the snail, hoping it’s news from the group. “That’s probably Nami,” he says, trying to sound nonchalant but failing to hide the hopeful glint in his eyes. As the snail continues to ring, Sanji’s thoughts drift, silently wishing it was your voice he heard instead.
“Hello, my love! Did you miss me? Because I missed you!” Sanji says, his voice dripping with affection as he answers the call, already envisioning your smile.
But instead of your voice, he hears Chopper’s voice, trembling and tearful. “Sanji! Sanji, it’s terrible! Y/N and Camie… they’ve been kidnapped!”
Sanji’s heart sinks as he hears the distress in Chopper’s voice. Sanji’s heart races as he listens to Chopper’s panicked cries. “Chopper, you’ve got to tell me everything you know. Where exactly are they? What do we need to do?”
Chopper sniffles, struggling to compose himself. “They were taken to the Human Auction House. I don’t know all the details, but the auction is happening soon. They’ve been put in sacks and… and…”
Sanji’s grip tightens on the transponder snail, his face contorted with anguish and anger. “Damn it! We’re running out of time. I swear, I’ll get them back. Just hold on, Chopper. We’re coming.”
Franky steps closer, his usually jovial demeanor gone, replaced by a serious, concerned look. “Sanji, we’ll get them back. We need to move fast.”
Sanji nods, his mind already racing with plans. “Alright, let’s gather the crew and head to the auction house. I don’t care what it takes. Y/N and Camie are not going to be sold off as slaves. We’re getting them out of there.”
Usopp places a hand on Sanji’s shoulder, trying to offer some comfort. “We’ll get them back, Sanji. We’ve faced worse. We just need to stick together and be smart.”
Sanji takes a deep breath, trying to steady himself despite the growing storm of emotions inside. “You’re right. Let’s go. We’re getting them back, no matter what.”
As the crew prepares to set out, Sanji’s thoughts are solely on you, his determination hardened into an unbreakable resolve. The love and worry he feels for you drives him forward, and he vows to do whatever it takes to ensure your safety and rescue.
“Hang on, Y/N, I’m coming to save you!” Sanji exclaims, his voice resolute despite the fear that lingers in his heart. He quickly contacts Duval and his crew, urgently explaining the situation. “Duval, we need your help. My friends have been kidnapped and taken to the Human Auction House. We need to get there as fast as possible.”
Duval’s voice crackles through the transponder snail. “Got it, young master. We’ll head over immediately. Just give us the details, and we’ll be there.”
Sanji hangs up and turns to the crew, his expression a mix of determination and urgency. “Alright, everyone, we’ve got to gather the crew and head to the auction house. Duval and his crew are on their way to help us get there quickly.”
Franky nods, his usually upbeat attitude replaced by a serious focus. “We’ll get everyone together and make sure we’re ready. Let’s move!”
Usopp quickly begins coordinating with the rest of the crew, ensuring that everyone is informed and prepared for the impending rescue mission. Sanji’s heart pounds as he prepares to leave, each moment spent away from you feeling like an eternity.
“Just hold on, Y/N. We’re coming for you,” Sanji murmurs to himself, his resolve unwavering as he sets off to rescue you and Camie from their captors.
Meanwhile at the Auction House:
You’re tossed roughly onto the cold floor, a dull thud reverberating through your body as you land. Straining against the ropes binding your wrists and ankles, you inch closer to Camie, who’s huddled in a corner, her eyes wide with panic.
“Camie, breathe,” you try to reassure her, your voice muffled by the tape over your mouth. You shift closer, attempting to untangle yourself enough to offer comfort. “It’s going to be okay. Just stay calm.”
Camie’s eyes darted around, her breath coming in shallow gasps. She tries to speak through her gag, her voice trembling. You can see the terror in her eyes, which only intensifies your determination to get both of you out of this mess.
Just then, a door creaks open and a man in a crisp uniform strides in, his demeanor cold and calculating. Disco, one of the auction house workers, walks over with a smirk. His presence exudes an air of authority that sends a shiver down your spine.
“Well, well, what do we have here?” Disco says, his voice dripping with disdain as he surveys you and Camie. “Two more prizes for our auction. How delightful, a supernova and a mermaid.”
He kneels down to inspect you, his eyes glinting with malicious intent. He reaches down and fastens a collar around your neck “Oh, and these collars come with a little surprise. If you try to remove them, they’ll explode. A nice little deterrent, don’t you think?”
As he stands and adjusts Camie’s collar, you struggle to keep your breath steady. “You know, Disco,” you manage to say, chuckling despite the danger, “once I’m free, you’ll be the first I kill.”
Disco’s eyes narrow with irritation, and he swiftly slaps you across the face, the sting sharp and painful. Just as he moves in to cause more harm, he suddenly freezes, his body going rigid before he collapses to the floor with a thud.
You look around, bewildered, scanning the room for any sign of movement or weaponry. The room is eerily quiet, and you can’t see anyone who could have intervened. Camie’s wide eyes search the room as well, her confusion mirroring your own.
Before you can process what just happened, Disco stirs slightly and gets up, mumbling to one of his workers. “Make sure they’re presentable for the auction. And change her attire—she needs to look suitable for the bidders.”
The worker nods and approaches you with a grim expression, while Disco exits the room, leaving you and Camie with more questions than answers, and a renewed sense of urgency to escape.
“Y/N- Chin! Are you alright? What did they do to you?” Camie says as she takes a second to look at you. Disco’s workers managed to get you changed into a short mini khaki flare skirt and a cropped, fitted white vest. Any other day, you'd be glad to wear such an outfit, but on a day like this, you'd rather burn it to ash. The clothes feel restrictive and uncomfortable, a stark reminder of your current predicament and the indignity of being paraded like a trophy.
They’d managed to take away your blades, leaving only a single hidden one secured within your boot, a small comfort in this dire situation.
“I’m okay, Camie,” you manage to mumble, your voice barely audible. “They haven’t done anything... too bad yet. Just stay strong.”
Camie nods, tears welling up in her eyes as she tries to maintain composure. You notice her collar, the same kind you’re wearing, and the fear in her expression only intensifies.
You notice the humans and giants in the cells around you—some are pirates, and one of them looks awfully familiar. He has long white hair, glasses, and a scar on his face, but you can’t quite place him. As you struggle to get a better look, the worker assigned to you returns and begins adjusting your attire, ensuring you are presentable for the auction. The collar around your neck itches, and you can’t shake the feeling that you’re being watched.
Outside the Auction house…
“Out of my way!” Sanji growled, pushing past Hatchan and Chopper as they tried to hold him back.
“Sanji, wait!” Nami called out, grabbing his arm. “We can’t draw attention to ourselves. We have enough treasure to buy both Camie and Y/N. We need to be smart about this.”
“But I can’t just stand here while they’re in danger!” Sanji’s voice was filled with desperation, his eyes burning with a fierce determination.
Luffy, Brooke, Zoro, Usopp and Robin had yet to arrive, and Chopper glanced around nervously. “We need to be patient, Sanji. Rushing in recklessly won’t help them.”
Inside the Auction House…
With a deep breath, Sanji reluctantly nodded, his gaze still fixed on the auction house. As the group entered, the atmosphere was tense with anticipation.
On the left side of the auction house, the Heart Pirates’ captain, Trafalgar Law, sat with his crew—Penguin, Bepo, and Shachi. Law’s eyes glinted with curiosity as he leaned back in his chair, waiting for the auction to begin.
“I wonder what ridiculous item they’ll put up next,” Law mused aloud, his tone both intrigued and amused.
Bepo, pointing discreetly, said, “Captain, look over there. The Straw Hats are here, too.”
Law’s gaze shifted, and he raised an eyebrow. “Is that so? Looks like things are about to get interesting.”
On the right side of the room, the Kidd Pirates were present. Eustass Kidd, Killer, Heat, and Wire stood together, their presence commanding attention. Kidd’s eyes were cold as he surveyed the room, his expression one of disinterest mingled with disdain.
Killer, noticing the Straw Hats, smirked slightly. “So, they’ve arrived. This should be fun.”
Heat leaned in closer to Kidd. “Think they’ll cause trouble?”
Kidd’s lips curled into a faint smile. “They always do. Let’s see how this plays out.”
As the auction house buzzed with anticipation, Eustass Kidd’s sharp eyes scanned the room. His gaze landed on the Straw Hat Pirates, noting their number. Something seemed off.
“Killer,” Kidd said, narrowing his eyes, “where’s the rest of the strawhats? I thought they were part of the group.”
Killer glanced around, frowning. “Yeah, I don’t see them either. Just Sanji, Nami, Franky, and Chopper.”
Heat, overhearing the conversation, chimed in, “You’re right. I wonder where they went.”
Kidd’s expression darkened, and he looked more closely at the remaining Straw Hats.
Wire, noticing Kidd’s reaction, asked, “What do you think happened?”
Kidd’s gaze was intense as he observed the room. “If they’re not here, they might be the auction items. We should keep an eye on this and see if anything unusual happens.”
At that moment, the Disco began to speak, calling attention to the upcoming items, and Kidd’s focus sharpened.
As the auction continued, tension filled the air. Sanji, growing more anxious with each passing moment, clenched his fists. Pappag sat beside him, tears streaming down his face as he muttered, "Camie... I hope she's okay."
Nami, determined and focused, kept her gaze fixed on the auction stage, her mind racing as she planned their next move. "We need to get them back. We can't let them be sold off."
The Disco’s voice boomed through the room, “Ladies and gentlemen, we are now down to our last two items for the evening. But before we reveal who they are, let’s take a look at their silhouettes.”
A large curtain lifted, revealing two shadowy figures. The room buzzed with excitement, and among the crowd, the Celestial Dragon, Charlos, arrived and took his seat, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. His presence was marked by an air of arrogance and entitlement.
Sanji’s eyes widened as he recognized the silhouette. His heart pounded as he whispered, "No... It can't be. That's Y/N!"
Nami’s head snapped toward Sanji. “What? Are you sure?”
Sanji’s voice was strained, "I’m certain. That’s definitely Y/N. She's up there along with Camie!”
Disco, on stage, smirked as he saw Sanji’s reaction. “Recognize her? Well, it seems we have quite the star attraction tonight.”
Charlos, clearly excited, leaned forward eagerly. “I must have them. No one else will touch them.”
Nami clenched her fists. “We have to stop this. Sanji, we need to act now.”
Sanji’s eyes were fierce with determination. “I’m going to get Y/N back. I promise.”
As the curtain continued to rise, revealing more of the figures, the crowd’s anticipation grew. The auctioneer’s voice rang out, “And now, for the grand reveal. Let’s see who our final items are!”
Sanji’s heart raced as he prepared to make his move, knowing that time was running out and their friends’ fate hung in the balance.
Moments before your turn for the auction:
“It's showtime ladies, only a few minutes til you meet your fate, any last words?”
You glanced to your right and saw Camie being placed inside a large fish bowl, her face pale and her eyes wide with fear. The sight of her trembling made your heart ache as you thought about the possibility of never seeing Sanji or the crew again. Flashbacks of your adventures and moments with them filled your mind, and tears began to well up in your eyes.
With a final surge of defiance, you looked up and said, “Kiss my ass,” before spitting in at one of the workers' faces. You laughed bitterly, as if this might be your last chance to show some spirit. He wiped his face in disgust and ordered another worker to drag you away.
As you braced yourself for the worst, a sudden commotion at the side caught your attention. An old man, whom you vaguely recognized but couldn’t place, approached you. His face was stern yet kind, and he whispered urgently, “Hold still, and trust me.”
Before you could react, he deftly removed the collar and the shackles on your feet and wrists. With a quick, decisive move, he threw the real collars and shackles far away, creating a distraction among the other workers. They scrambled to see where the noise was coming from, allowing a small window of opportunity. You were about to thank him, but he shushed you with a finger to his lips and whispered, “The real collars and shackles are gone, but these are fake. I need to make it look real for now. Don’t worry; I’ll get your friend out too.” Slipping away, leaving you to make your way to the stage, your heart pounding with a mix of hope and trepidation. You stayed focused, knowing that this was your chance to escape and reunite with your friends.
  Time of the Auction:
You made your way to the stage, standing in the center with your best acting face on to conceal the fact that the collar and shackles were now fake. You took a deep breath, trying to remain composed despite the gravity of the situation.
Disco’s voice echoed through the auction house, “Ladies and gentlemen, we are now down to our last two items for the evening. But before we reveal who they are, let’s take a look at their silhouettes.”
The lights dimmed, casting dramatic shadows of you and Camie. You couldn’t help but growl under your breath, “Perverted fucks.” Your heart ached seeing Camie’s frightened expression. You managed to send her a reassuring wink and mouthed, “Don’t worry, everything is going to be okay. I promise.”
Camie’s eyes brightened a little with relief as she mouthed back, “Thank you, Y/N-Chin.”
As the curtain began to rise, the applause and cheers of the auction house grew louder, and the harsh lights made it difficult to see clearly. You squinted into the crowd and saw a familiar face that made your heart leap.
“Sanji,” you whispered, almost breaking down in tears.
Sanji’s face was a storm of fury as he took in your appearance. The sight of your bruised cheek, the signs of rough handling on your arms, and the tight ponytail you wore only fueled his rage further. His hands were clenched into fists as he seethed with anger.
“Nami, I’m going to kill them!” Sanji growled, his voice trembling with barely-contained rage.
“Sanji, don’t worry. We’ve got this,” Nami said firmly, trying to calm him down.
Disco began to announce the starting price, but before he could finish, a voice rang out from the crowd. “500 million berri’s!” Charlos the Celestial Dragon declared with a smug grin.
The room fell silent for a moment as the crowd absorbed the bid. Your eyes begin staring in shock.
Eustass Kid’s eyes widened as he recognized you on stage. “Wait, isn’t that Y/N?” he said, disbelief evident in his voice.
Killer, who had been observing from the sidelines, let out a low, whistling sound of surprise. His eyes locked onto you, and he made no attempt to hide his appraisal. “Well, Captain, there’s your answer,” Killer said with a smirk. “Might I say, her wanted poster doesn’t do her justice.” His gaze roamed over you appreciatively, adding, “She’s quite the sight up close.”
Law, still stunned, glanced between you and Killer, trying to piece together the situation. Bepo, unable to contain his shock, said, “Hey Captain, isn’t that your—” His voice was muffled by the crowd’s noise and the chaos that ensued.
As the auction house buzzed with tension, Nami’s hand trembled as she dropped her number in shock. “There’s no way we can buy both Y/N and Camie now,” she said, her voice filled with despair. “We only have enough for one!”
Pappag and Hatchan, who had been anxiously waiting, began to cry out in distress. “Camie! Camie!” they yelled, their voices breaking with sorrow.
Sanji’s fists clenched tightly, his knuckles turning white as his rage and helplessness collided. His eyes were locked on the stage, where you stood, and he was tormented by the thought of you becoming a slave to that bastard, Charlos. “I won’t let this happen,” he muttered fiercely under his breath.
But Sanji was caught in a dire dilemma. He knew that if he took action against Charlos or any of the Celestial Dragons, it would set off alarms with the Navy. That would only increase the danger for both you and Camie. His heart pounded with the crushing weight of knowing that any rash move could jeopardize your safety even further.
Shaking, you forced yourself to look at Camie and offered her a reassuring smile, mouthing “It’s time.” You took a deep breath and, with a defiant laugh, began to step forward, addressing Charlos with bold determination.
“Do you honestly think my friend and I are worth so little?” you said, your voice ringing out with defiance. “Well, you, sir, are gravely mistaken.”
Turning to Disco, your rage intensified. “You should really start investing in better equipment. As you can see…” With a dramatic flourish, you removed the fake shackles and collar. “They come right off.”
The crowd gasped as you pulled out your blade, which you had managed to sneak in despite the tight security. “And as I last recalled,” you said slowly, “I warned you the moment I got out of these chains, I would be coming for you.”
With a fierce cry, you lunged at Disco. The blade sliced through the air, and chaos erupted in the auction house. Screams filled the room as the crowd surged, pushing and shoving in panic.
As the auction house erupted into chaos, Eustass Kid's eyes locked onto you, and he was momentarily taken aback. “Well, well, look at that,” he muttered, his voice laced with a mix of curiosity and intrigue. “So that’s the Straw Hat everyone’s been talking about. Guess she’s not just talk.”
Killer, leaning against the wall, whistled lowly, his gaze intense as he took in your fierce fight. “Looks like she’s got some fire in her,” he said with a smirk. “Not bad at all.” As he watched you, his interest deepened. He couldn’t help but feel a strong attraction to your courage and fighting spirit.
Kid’s gaze was fixed on you with an intense, almost predatory interest. He had been captivated ever since he first saw your wanted poster and heard about you from the other Supernovas. “Damn,” he thought, his eyes lingering on you with a sultry edge. “She’s even better in person. I’d much rather have her with me than anyone else.” His thoughts were charged with an underlying desire, a mix of admiration and something much more primal. “If I had my way, she’d be by my side, not shackled and displayed for others.”
As the scene unfolded, Disco’s attempts to fend off your attacks were futile. You were relentless, your blade slicing through the chaos. Disco, clearly frightened, scrambled for cover. “No! Stop her! Somebody stop her!” he shouted, his voice tinged with desperation.
Bepo and Penguin exchanged glances as they observed their captain's reaction. Bepo’s eyes sparkled with admiration, but his focus was on Law. “Captain, is that really…” he trailed off, unable to take his eyes off you. Penguin nodded, equally spellbound. “Looks like the captain’s got quite an interest. He’s not the only one.”
Law, his gaze fixed intently on you, couldn't hide his fascination. “So she’s more than just a pretty face,” he murmured, his eyes following your every move with a mix of admiration and intrigue. His earlier interest had clearly deepened into something more intense, as he watched you fight with a newfound appreciation.
Nami ordered Franky to look for the keys, to get Camie out of there. “Right, I'm on it!” and Franky leaves to look for the key.
Sanji, charging through the crowd as it begins to die down, finally reaches you. “Y/N! I’m here!” he shouted, grabbing your arm as he pulled you away from Disco. “Let’s get out of here!”
As you buried yourself in Sanji’s embrace, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, a sense of relief washed over you. “Sanji,” you whispered, your voice trembling with emotion, “thank you.”
Sanji’s arms tightened around you, his voice soft yet firm. “You don’t need to thank me, Y/N. I’d go through hell to keep you safe.”
But the warmth of the moment was disrupted by the heated gazes of three very different men, each battling his own surge of jealousy and desire.
Eustass Kid’s jaw clenched as he watched the tender exchange. The sight of you wrapped up in Sanji’s arms, the intimacy of it, sparked something primal in him. His eyes darkened with possessiveness. “So, she’s got a thing for that damn cook,” he muttered under his breath, frustration lacing his tone. “Too bad for him—she’s better suited for someone with real power. She’d be better off by my side.”
Killer’s usually cool demeanor was strained as he watched the scene unfold. A low, almost sultry chuckle escaped his lips. “She’s got a thing for cooks, huh? Lucky for her, I’m an excellent chef,” he murmured, his voice dripping with intent. “Maybe she just needs a taste of something different.” His eyes raked over you with a blend of admiration and hunger, imagining a scenario where it was him holding you close.
Trafalgar Law, usually so composed, felt a sharp pang of jealousy twist in his chest. He’d kept his feelings for you carefully guarded, but seeing you with Sanji made something snap inside him. His gaze was intense, his usual calm replaced by a burning desire to intervene. “She deserves someone who understands her,” he thought, his mind racing. “Someone who can protect her without needing to be thanked for it.” The sight of you so vulnerable, so close to Sanji, was almost unbearable.
Killer smirked, leaning closer to Kid, his voice low and laced with playful challenge. “Guess we’ll see who she really belongs with, huh?”
Law’s eyes flickered with determination as he observed the two other men. He wasn’t about to back down either. He stepped forward, ready to act, his usual strategic mind overwhelmed by the desire to pull you away from Sanji and into his own arms.
Each of them, in their own way, was drawn to you, not just by your strength but by the vulnerability you displayed in this moment. They all wanted to be the one to comfort you, to protect you, to claim you. The tension between them was electric, a silent agreement that none of them would let Sanji have you without a fight.
The auction house was on the brink of chaos as Nami looked on to see who was remaining. Tension filled the air as Hatchan, driven by desperation, tried to make a run toward Camie. But as he moved, his cloak began to slip, revealing his fishman identity to the room.
Charlos’ eyes gleamed with sadistic delight as he seized the opportunity, pulling out a gun without hesitation. “A fishman and a Supernova? Today’s my lucky day,” he sneered.
Camie, trapped in the fish tank, began banging on the glass frantically, her wide eyes filled with terror. The sound of her desperate attempts to alert the others cut through the chaos. You broke away from Sanji, your heart pounding in your chest as you turned to see what was happening.
In that split second, you saw Charlos raising his gun, aiming directly at Hatchan. Without thinking, you pushed Sanji to the side and sprinted toward Hatchan, your only thought to protect him.
A single gunshot rang out, echoing through the auction house. The next moment felt like an eternity. You reached Hatchan just in time, throwing yourself over him as the bullet buried itself in your right thigh. Pain seared through you, but you held on, determined to shield your friend.
Hatchan hit the ground with you on top, his eyes wide with shock. “Y/N! Why did you—” he stammered, his voice choked with emotion as he realized what you had done.
You gritted your teeth, the pain in your thigh radiating through your body. “I wasn’t going to let him hurt you,” you said through clenched teeth, your voice trembling with both pain and determination. “We stick together.”
As the sound of the gunshot echoed through the auction house, Sanji’s heart nearly stopped. “Y/N!” he screamed, his voice filled with panic as he watched you collapse on top of Hatchan. Blood began to seep from your thigh where the bullet had hit, and Sanji’s world narrowed to that single point of red. “Damn it, Y/N, you’re always throwing yourself into danger,” he muttered, his voice thick with concern.
“Chopper! Hurry! Get the bullet out of Y/N and tend to the wound!” Sanji yelled, his voice trembling with urgency as he knelt beside you, his hands hovering over your wound, unsure whether to touch you or not, fearing he might make things worse.
Chopper, already in motion, rushed over with his medical kit. “Hang in there, Y/N! I’ve got this!” he said, his small hands working quickly to assess the wound.
The room fell silent for a heartbeat, and then the auction house doors exploded inward with a thunderous crash. Luffy stormed into the room, his eyes blazing with fury as he took in the scene—the bleeding wound on your thigh, Hatchan on the ground, and Charlos standing there with a smug grin on his face.
Beside Luffy, Zoro stepped in, his expression just as intense, though slightly more annoyed as he shook off the aftereffects of the bumpy ride in the Fishman vehicle. “What the hell did I miss?” Zoro grumbled, his hand already resting on the hilt of his sword as he quickly assessed the chaotic scene in front of him.
Luffy’s eyes narrowed, the fury within him boiling over as he watched Charlos gloat over your injury. His hands clenched into fists, and he began walking toward the Celestial Dragon with a terrifying calmness. The air around him seemed to crackle with tension as everyone in the room felt the weight of his anger.
Zoro, now fully alert and ready for action, exchanged a glance with Luffy. The unspoken understanding between them was clear—this wasn’t going to end well for Charlos.
“You…” Luffy’s voice was low, almost a growl. Each word he spoke was laced with a promise of retribution. “You hurt my friends…”
Charlos barely had time to register the danger before Luffy was upon him. Without another word, Luffy’s fist collided with Charlos’ face, the force of the punch sending the Celestial Dragon flying across the room and crashing into the wall with a sickening thud.
Meanwhile, Kidd's eyes narrowed dangerously as he watched Sanji fuss over you. A surge of jealousy flared up inside him, and he clenched his fists. “I didn’t come all this way to watch some Straw Hat steal the show,” Kidd muttered, his voice laced with irritation. “She belongs with someone who can handle her—like me.”
Killer, standing beside him, chuckled darkly. “Looks like the competition’s tough. But I’d love to see how she reacts to someone who can handle more than just a kitchen knife,” he said, his eyes gleaming with a mix of amusement and something more primal as he eyed you protectively.
On the other side, Law’s usual calm demeanor cracked ever so slightly as he observed the scene unfolding before him. “So, this is the kind of devotion she inspires,” he thought, feeling an unexpected twist of envy in his chest. He kept his gaze fixed on you, silently cursing himself for not having acted sooner.
The remaining spectators, including a few of the other Celestial Dragons, looked on with growing unease as they sensed the impending wrath of the Straw Hat captain. The air grew thick with tension, and everyone braced for what was about to happen next. One by one, the remaining spectators, driven by fear, bolted from their seats, abandoning the auction house in a panicked rush. Only the Celestial Dragons, the auction workers, Disco, the Kidd Pirates, the Heart Pirates, and your crew remained, all locked in a tense standoff.

Here are the links for the others.

Word count: 2,124
Type: Fluff, some angst, flirting
Characters: Crocodile, reader (AFAB)
Trigger warnings/content: Some threatening words, pet names like "doll", swearing, mentioning of death/trauma about the marines
“Hm,” as he sits on his throne, looking down at those pure eyes. Kneeling before his steps, pledging her allegiance to him, her soul, her body, her loyalty, everything to him, it bored him to just watch everyone do the same thing, quietly fearing him, glancing over their shoulder to see if he was there, to take his orders without hesitation. “So…” ah…another one of these, thinking as he gently scratched the armrest with his hook. Same shit, different people, every.single.day. Slipping into the same routine, not wanting to go out of the habit of the ordinary, because what is the reason? There was none. Everything was boring, it was not fun, no point, it didn’t give him a challenge, no goal in sight, no reward at the end, not even gratification.
“Go help out the others, do what you want, just don’t cause issue fo’me  just get out of my sight.”
“Did you want me to pick up some cigars from the village?” Her voice smooth as sand, another futile attempt to kiss his ass, typical of new recruits.
“Do what you want,” avoiding even looking at her. She was merely another pawn within his empire, no one really notable in his mind. Other than his rivals, no one stuck out, it was the same people, interacting with him day in and day out, passing the days as if it was clockwork as days turn into nights, nights turn into weeks, weeks into months, with people coming and going, dying or being taken away. The gentle shuffle of her getting up, bowing as her outfit harmonized with the sound of sand kicking up.
“I see sir,” her voice velvety, soft, gentle like those calm nights. “I shall come back in a few hours to give you a report then.” Typical, just a worthless pawn that won’t be of use to him. Other than a pretty face that can maybe get some money from the village, there was no way she had any potential at Baroque Works. A yawn, and rolling his eyes as he waves his hand before leaning on that same hand, his jaw resting as he stares up at the hole in his ceiling. The blue sky overhead with no clouds in sight, it was bright out, a bird or two flew over, as free as ever. Resting his eyes would only pass by some time before maybe someone brings paperwork, maybe a civilian, treasure, who knows at this point. Rubbing his cheek, the finger running along his scar, breathing in and out, the taste of musk, dust and tobacco flow through his lungs. Slowly ensuring the steady flow of oxygen with the intoxicating taste of bitterness pulsing his veins.
“Boring…” muttering under his breath, his words breathed out with the exhale of smoke. “Hm…what to do now…” his mind wondered what he could do, it’s been awhile since he had any action, both fighting and just touch. Sure, he could take anyone in the village, but many feared him. Though it turned him on to see people trembling in others arms, it was more so how they ran to their partner for comfort, wiping the tears with their fingers as they soothed their emotions by stroking their hair, and yet it wasn’t enough for him to pursue. If only they would melt in his arms, instead of fearing him, he wanted someone to run into his arms for comfort, inhaling in their scent, kissing the top of their head to show protection, knowing their place as they are useless and they have to rely on him. Yet, not one person ran to him for protection, rather, they always ran to him to warn him or tell him something, quickly running away in fear of his reaction, which was overbearing as he was a warlord, now serving under an emperor that he could easily overthrow.
“Sir?” Fluttering his eyes open, the new recruit was before him, her figure in a tight near black navy blue dress. Thin straps decorating her shoulders, doing nothing to hold up the tight dress that hugged her body, the subtle musk, floral perfume, lips dusted with dark red like wine, hair moving subtly as her head tilted up at him as she kneeled on both knees, those lips so sinful that maybe he didn’t see it earlier when she was bowed down earlier. “I got you a gift from the village,” holding a tan satchel, with a purple string tying the top together. “A gift for letting me join.” Humming, there was a lot of doubt this was a true gift to create a simple connection, instead to butter him up to get a higher status.
“Open it then,” his cigar falling from his lips as it dissipates as it hits the ground. Grabbing another cigar from his coat, a simple box adorned with gold as he places another cigar between his lips, lighting it. That addicting taste of tobacco that he craves every waking moment. The crown of her head moves, as she opens the box so seductively, her fingers gently tugging, pulling, her lips parting to softly gasp as the bag opens up. Grabbing a box, she sets the satchel down on the ground gently, opening it with a black lighter with some silver accents. Lighting up his cigar and holding the lighter palm up to offer it to him. Raising his eyebrow, she places it right on his knee, something so casual, yet different. Another item she pulls out, a simple fabric that she runs through her fingers, finally letting it stop on her palm, a silk pale yellow sash that she folds, paying attention to her fingers with every pinch she does with the silk. Standing up, she leans closely, but he doesn’t falter, staring at her face as she moves, steadily breathing to breathe in the familiar scent of his, but that hint of roses twinged his nose. Her arms wrapped around his neck, feeling the sash go around his neck as she tied it. There was a small mark on her upper arm that he definitely did not see earlier, she was trembling, typical of this fragile thing to fear him. He really thought she was different.
“I think it suits you,” her hand tying it and tucking it into his dress shirt, then moving some loose bangs behind his ear. Making sure he was uniform, yet he didn’t protest, no one dared to touch him without asking. Her smile was soft, but he was done with her kissing his ass.
“A'right, what do you want?” Grabbing her wrist with force as her nails trail his sideburns. Her eyebrows arched in question, it irked him that she was toying with him at this point. “If you fear me, then leave me, no need to do such trivial things.” A chuckle, a laugh, it was brighter than the sun above, it was more refreshing than water, his lips felt dry.
“Me? Fear you?” The trembling in her body was no more, he could feel her steady pulse through his palm. “I am smitten with you, it’s only normal for me to follow you with my heart instead of fear.” His grip softened, looking at that wound on her upper arm, it was fresh. His hand grasping her wrist, trailed up to touch it, it was wet, deep, warm, twitching under his touch, he could see fear flash in her eyes.
“Who?” Silence, her demeanor did a complete 180, her eyes darting around. “Tell me the true reason why you are here,” running his thumb over the wound, smearing the blood, but seeing if it pained her. She didn’t speak, getting up to put his hook under her chin, the sash fluttering to the floor, the lighter clattering and opening on the rocksand, tilting her head up. “Stand,” moving immediately to his calling, making her meet his cold eyes that even marines feared. “I said, who?”
“T-the marines sir. They killed my village.” “So you seek a criminal?” Scoffing, it was like a contract with the sandman, an evil that no one wanted, yet she seeked it. “You do know I can crush you easily, dispose of you where no one could ever find you.” Relaxing into his touch, she leaned forward, letting her body lean against his torso, her breath making his abs feel hot.
“The marines killed with no purpose, they pillage for money-”
“As do I,” growling to see her weak explanation as to why.
“Sir…” her face didn’t move, her nose pressed against his abs, without realizing his hand wrapped around her shoulder to hold her in place. “Though you seem to have everything, it seems you do some things because you still don’t want to lose some companions. Marines still hire anyone, yet you pick out people you want by your side.” Her skin was soft on her shoulder, he wanted to dig his fingers into her shoulder to see her reaction, but part of it was stopping him. He didn’t want her to fear him, she wanted asylum, something many did not want before. “If the marines are corrupt enough to hire pirates to do their dirty work…” He could see her eyes open, her jaw gently resting on his body, her lips peeking into a smile as her lashes opened and closed to keep her tears from pouring out. “Pirates are just doing things to survive, yet you aren’t a savage, you have your reasons for keeping the people you have.”
“Okay lil’ doll, but how do you know I won’t get rid of you like the marines did?”
“Because, you looked at me and let me in here. The marines…they didn’t even look at anyone when they were killed, they feared their leader and feared for their own survival.” Those words sent shivers down their spine. Was that how his underlings viewed him? It made him smile unexpectedly, turning quickly into a frown. Crocodile took a deep breath in, letting the cigar taste burn his throat, letting that taste linger as long as he could. “Plus, maybe we can shake things up a little sir.” Her doe eyes got him, hook line and sinker, literally. Only then did he realize, he was inhaling his cigar at this point, that it was almost a nub already.
“And how on earth would a little fragile doll like you do that?” Her finger curled, beckoning him to come closer. There was something odd, taking orders from someone else, but with her, it felt like first nature, instinct as you will. He leaned in, his face past hers, almost resting on those small shoulders of hers. Her voice is a soft whisper.
“Come closer, I don’t want anyone else to hear,” groaning, he could feel the heat radiation off her cheek onto his cold skin. A wet peck on his cheek, as she stole his nub of a cigar from his lips. Turning, she stole a quick kiss, that warm beckoning smile plastered on her face like a wanted poster. “Maybe I can give you a reason to keep me around, maybe a level head to make sure you aren’t bored like you were earlier.” As if she read him like a book, though this small woman could be easily crushed within his grasp, it felt like she knew him for years, reading his body language, his facial expressions, every groan, rolled eyes, shape of his eyebrows, twisting of his torso, to the angle his face, she knew what he felt. No fear in her heart for him, something that wouldn’t run away from his fingers, being finally careful he wouldn’t break this figure of glass. He stood upright, towering over her, looking at the hole in the ceiling with the sun tinting the sky pink.
“Al’right doll face,” turning his face away to avoid her sunny face. “I’ll work you like a dog.”
“Alright alright Sir, loud and clear,” giggling as she buried her face in his chest, her arms around his waist, hopping back to wave at him, then bowing as she left the room. Things wouldn’t be the same, just maybe he could get used to having something to do, just anticipating that woman’s next move was a mystery in itself, and he was ready to dive in head first, stepping out of bounds just to find out. “Well,” his hand went into his coat to grab his cigar box, only to pull it out and look at it, putting it back into his coat pocket. Glancing at the sash on the floor, hooking the sash with his gold hook, while picking up the black lighter, flickering it on. “Things just got interesting.”

OPLA episode 2 - first impressions
I swear, I feel like a screamy fangirl, considering I have watched German One Piece since I was like... 12, quite literally, since it aired in 2003. Even though I haven't consistently read/watched the series, I had a stronger phase in 2011 or so and watching the series now brings a lot of nostalgia back. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Tumblr media
I've said it before, but the Romance Dawn Trio is giving me SO much life. I have always had a fondness for OT3 dynamics and the dynamics portrayed here are just... Wow. (I told this a friend, but they actually kinda remind of me of the JJK trio here, but let's not digress.) Again, the whole thing with Zoro and Nami doing their best not to give the impression that they give a damn, just to STILL end up doing everything for Luffy and each other is giving me so many goddamn feelings every. Single. Time. Zoro and Nami have always been infamous for having that "One for you, one for me" dynamic, constantly bickering, always looking for that "equivalent exchange" with, apparently, no strings attached, only gains, no emotional attachment whatsoever... But the one thing they (and all strawhats, really) have in common is that they would move mountains (read: die) for Luffy. And that's where they'll always put their differences aside - the moment they smiled at each other, promising to kick butts of everyone they'd encounter (to eventually save Luffy) side by side, was everything to me. Maybe there aren't a lot of emotions between them, but even if they appear to be on completely different ends of the loyalty/motivation spectrum - there is that thing that links them together and that's just very enjoyable, despite all the bickering. ("There's something way more valuable than diamonds - knowledge!!!") Also, a piece of framing I haven't even REALLY thought about before is really nicely done - the fact that BOTH Zoro and Nami do NOT think highly of pirates at this point in time. So Luffy being Luffy, convincing them that he is indeed different... It makes their developing bond so much more special.
The LuNa scene at the beginning - even if we've already seen them in clips -, is just sending me. Luffy's ADHD energy is beautiful, you can really tell how excited he is - and how easily he attaches himself to his not crewmates. I mean, one of his love languages CLEARLY is physical touch after all (the second one is food sharing) and, again, I just love how natural it is. Or maybe that's just me.
... What is it with the way Zoro's opponents have been oozing with sexual tension towards him so far??? And he's not any better, seriously... I mean, we already have the lone wolf facade CRUMBLING HEAVILY, having Zoro basically CONFESS that "this simpleton in a strawhat" changed his way of thinking within HOURS of having known him.... Be still my ZoLu heart.
Tumblr media
I love the foreshadowing in Shanks' portrayal, even as someone who hasn't completely caught up to everything that is happening.
I really enjoy that Buggy is actually portrayed to be terrifying, I think they did find a good middle ground in language usage not being TOO on the nose with everything. But the imminent fear of death is always there and his over-the-top, dramatic acting fits SO well.
Again, I really enjoy Koby's acting, his and Helmeppo's dynamics are great and Garp has been intimidating as well...
Luffy's good-hearted-main-character-energy is still through the roof and I love it. Never stop smiling, my friend.
Fight choreographies and CGI still look high quality to me.
Again, for me it's easy to take this for what it is, I feel heavily reminded of my beloved Digimon stageplay and I've known these characters for years, so my bias should not come as a surprise. But really? I enjoy being catered to and the quality speaks for itself!
NAMI FIXING THE HAT THOUGH!!! God, I love them.

Ever since watching Live Action One Piece, I can't stop thinking about how good the writing is in the actual show, so I'm going to seriously analyze it for my own fun and pleasure.
OP is kind of notorious for being nonsensical, whimsical, goofy and not particularly loaded with themes and heavy-to-grasp concepts, so a lot of people think of its arcs as mere sequences of events without an underlying thematic structure. This is what the Live Action gets wrong, but to the original show's credit, the formula is so intricately woven that you can't easily define it like in other serialized media. It's also a bit more... Nebulous? Okay, I can explain.
At least four of the earliest arcs follow the same formula. I'm sure it applies to later arcs too but they get longer and things become muddled down the line - not in a bad way, the core concepts still apply, just differently, so I'm only going to talk about the first four important ones. The formula is this:
The main character, Luffy, is introduced to another character who, in one way or another, displays a character flaw that prevents them from achieving their goals and dreams.
They encounter a foe who displays the exact same flaw in a different way.
Luffy confronts the foe on moral grounds and demonstrates a virtue that overcomes and overpowers the villain, leasing him to victory.
The newly introduced character, inspired by Luffy's example, experiences a change of perspective, which helps them overcome their own flaw and take a step towards their goal.
If you're thinking that sounds about right, then holy shit, our wavelengths. If, more likely, you're thinking "this is kinda far-fetched", then oh boy do I got proof of concept for you.
It's incredible how clear and well-executed the parallels between heroes and villains are. Like, okay, listen, here's Zoro's arc.
The villain, Axe-Hand Morgan, is a self-assured, self-centered tyrant who treats his comrades and subordinates as expendable tools and has no loyalties except to his own greatness.
Zoro isn't a tyrant, he's kind-hearted and has a strong moral compass, but he is still flawed: like Morgan, he doesn't have any loyalties except to himself. He's self-assured as hell. We learn later that he used to have mercenary friends but they went their own separate way at some point, and when they meet again, Zoro shows no clear loyalty to them - he's kind-hearted, so, of course, he cares, but he was never bound by their alliance and obviously considered the three of them to be drawn together by coincidence.
And to be clear, in the world of One Piece that is a flaw. Most characters swear allegiance to factions - pirate crews, marines, revolutionaries, other groups - and draw strength from them. Villages and towns are shown to survive hardships through unity and companionship.
Even Zoro's ultimate goal, the person he swore to defeat in mortal combat - Mihawk - although he appears solitary and not "bound" to a crew or a cause, we learn later that he is affiliated with the government. But that's a bit off-track.
While trying to save Zoro from execusion by Morgan, Luffy demonstrates a stubborn determination to work together. As soon as he recognizes that an injustice has been done to Zoro, he works not to solve the problem by himself, but to help Zoro deal with it. While another character tries to free Zoro from captivity directly - literally untie the ropes that are holding him - Luffy hands him his swords first.
Notably, Zoro is the only main character who defeats the main villain of his arc, all others are defeated by Luffy. I say "notably" because Zoro specifically is ony able to achieve this through cooperation with Luffy.
As the show goes on, Zoro's loyalty quickly becomes one of his core traits.
That's just one of them, so let's do Usopp's arc next.
The villain, Kuro, is a pirate captain who gave up his name and title. He is trying to turn away from who he is, remake himself into someone new through deception and trickery.
Usopp is doing the exact same thing, albeit in a decidedly more innocent way. He lies about his heroic feats and achivements, about his strength and the size of his crew, about practically everything. His lies aren't a flaw per se, as he never stops lying in the future. It's not his cowardice, that doesn't change much either. It's his conflict with himself. He's a pirate but he isn't. Pirates are coming but they aren't. He's proud of his heritage but he doesn't really get to be proud all that much until Luffy comes along.
Luffy defeats Kuro by being a better pirate, or by being better at being a pirate, or by being a pirate at all. Luffy has simple, clear-cut views and ambitions, he knows what kind of person he is and what kind of person he's trying to be, and he lives by it. That's the virtue.
As Usopp says his goodbyes before leaving his village, he gathers his little "crew" of kids together and makes them state their ambitions - one wants to be a writer, another dreams of owning a bar, etcetera - this is him imparting a lesson he just learned himself, on knowing who you want to become and living to be that person.
Usopp's best friend Kaya, inspired by him, resolves to become a doctor.
All this is also a showcase of Usopp's legacy, but don't get me started on legacy in One Piece, we'll be here for an hour.
So there we go. Let's do Sanji's arc next, it's way easier than Usopp's 3D chess pirate-gender.
The villain of the arc, Don Krieg, engages in malicious dishonesty to secure advantage in battles because he doesn't believe himself to be prepared enough for the journey he's undertaking.
Sanji is exactly the same but without the trickery. He justifies his inaction with the vague concept of being indebted to his mentor, even though his mentor considers the debt fully paid and sincerely wants him to live his own life.
Luffy defeats Don Krieg via stubbornness, bravery, endurance and ingenuity. It's similar to his other fights and not emphasized enough, which is probably why it's always been one of the more boring parts to me personally, though it's still wonderfully executed.
More importantly, Luffy reduses Sanji's mentor's journal, stating he wants to have his own adventure, not follow in someone else's footsteps. This is almost word-for-word the lesson Sanji needs to learn. Get out of there and do your best, you're ready, you'll never be more ready than you already are.
And finally, Nami's arc.
The villain, Arlong, believes himself to be inherently superior to those around him. If he recruits help, it's out of convenience, not necessity. If he forms bonds, they're business, not camaraderie. He does care for his fellow fishmen but that has more to do with the extended fishmen backstory and politics than anything so I won't touch on it.
Nami is equally flawed by hubris. She thinks she's better, more competent, more capable than the people around her, she has that complex you get when you don't have any friends in high school and end up doing all the group projects by yourself.
While fighting Arlong, Luffy makes a point out of stating and showing his own reliance on his own crew, and even lists off the skills they excel at that he himself doesn't possess. It's very on the nose but still awesome to watch.
He then absolutely fucking wrecks Nami's old prison-slash-workshop, demonstrating symbolically that, while her skill is great and important, it's not the main reason he values her as a crewmate and friend.
Nami gets over her hubris, begins to rely on others as allies more than assets, and relaxes a little about her paranoid hypercompetence. Good for her.
Okay so hopefully this convinced you. This was also going to be the part where I go on a long tangent about why Live Action One Piece fails on so many levels but then I realized I'd need a whole separate post for that, so I'm just gonna state the main point and leave it at that.
Netflix screenwriters seemed to have watched One Piece (roughly up to episode 130) and decided the arcs did not have any thematic uniting element even though they clearly did, as per above. They proceeded to rework the plot to introduce what they thought would work as unifying elements (introducing Baroque Works early, having Coby in every episode, cutting out Don Krieg and replacing him with Arlong) which inadvertently undermined the story structure and ruined the show.
Anyway, there's more. One of the earlier arcs is Buggy's arc which follows a different format. It doesn't see any new additions to the crew but it does see Luffy's worldview challenged by an outside force. This is an early example of a Luffy arc. Other examples include Loguetown, Jaya/Skypiea, and Foxy's arc (regrettably). Also Marinford and the events prior but that's, like, self-evident, I think. This story format borrows from classic romance literature and is way more straightforward. Buggy being an early example of it in the show, while being a comedic element himself, also introduces a lot of these story concepts. His journey could also be considered somewhat parallel to Luffy's, but that's a bit of a stretch, to be honest.
I completely forgot how I was going to end this analysis but hopefully reading it was worthwhile anyway. Live Action One Piece sucks. Cheers!

The Groggy Ring
aka how Luna joined the crew. I had to bend the Davy Back Fight rules a little to allow for double stakes so she could join.
Basking in his victory, Foxy stood upon the stage in a wide stance. Now, it was time for him to choose his spoils. Behind him, two of his crewmates started a drumroll.
“The first one I want is… YOU! The ship’s doctor, Tony Tony Chopper!”
Chopper froze in shock. He didn’t react at all until two Foxy Pirates grabbed him and started dragging him off to the stage. The moment he felt their hands on him, he started wriggling and struggling, trying to get free. Around him, the Foxy Pirates cheered loudly while his crew called his name behind him.
“Stop, you’re hurting him!” Luna shouted and tried to make her way through the crowd.
▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄✼▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
But Chopper was already to the stage where Foxy wrapped him in his arms and squeezed him until the little reindeer ran out of air, yet still managed to scream. Porche came running onto the stage, asking if she could hold him too. This prompted Foxy to throw Chopper into Porche’s arms. They were treating him like a pet, like a toy!
“Now, Doctor Chopper!” Foxy announced as Chopper was set down on a chair in the middle of the stage . “You’re one of us now, so you have to swear your loyalty to me! Put on this mask!”
Other Foxy Pirates came onto the stage to swarm their newest possession but they were blocked off by a pair of white wings. Swiftly, Luna swept Chopper off the chair and took off from the stage, landing on its roof.
“Stay away from him, you savages!” she called down, setting Chopper down next to her.
As soon as he was on his own two feet again and away from the smothering chaos, he burst out into tears.
“Guys!” he yelled out to his friends as the tears started crawling down his face. “I don’t want this! I started sailing with you guys! I only went out to sea because Luffy asked me! I don’t want to join these guys!”
That was when Zoro, who had been sitting and drinking with his back turned to the stage, slammed his bottle into the ground.
“Stop whining!” he shouted. “It’s disgraceful! It was your choice to go to sea, not anyone else’s. Whether you live or die, the choice was yours and now you have to live with it. We accepted the challenge and Usopp and the others tried their best. In the world of pirates, your tears will get you nowhere. If you’re a man, just sit tight and watch the game!”
“How could you say that!” Nami snapped at him. “Don’t you know how he feels?!”
But Chopper swallowed his tears, crossed his arms and sat down atop the roof with a determined expression. A soft smile spread across Luna’s face as the crowd roared with admiration for Zoro and Chopper. She sat down next to him, gently nudging him with her wing.
“You’re doing great, little one,” she said. “Or shouldn’t I call you that?”
“I’m a man!” Chopper announced proudly.
“Alright then, big man. I don’t think I’ve introduced myself properly. I’m Luna.”
“I know, Sanji has been talking about you.”
“Has he? How charming. He’s in the second round, isn’t he?”
“Yeah, he is. - Wait, I was in the second round!” Chopper gasped. “What happens now?”
“Nothing. Your team will consist of only two players. And they’re going up against the Groggy Monsters. It’s no coincidence that our captain chose to do double stakes for this game. If there’s one game the Foxy Pirates win by default, it’s this one.”
“Gather ‘round, everyone!” The commentator’s voice sounded from across the fair area. “Round 2 of the Davy Back Fight, the Groggy Ring, is about to begin!”
A large court had been painted out in the grass with two sides, each with a circle in the middle and a big lifebuoy at its end. Chopper stood up to look across the crowd. Just now, Zoro and Sanji were walking onto the court, bickering as always.
“Now,” the commentator continued, “I will announce the rules of the Groggy Ring! There is a goal on either side of the court! You win by throwing your ball into the enemy’s goal ring! But you won’t be using a regular ball, oh no! The ball will be a person! So first, every team has to pick one person to be the ball!”
“A ball as a person?” Chopper echoed.
Luna nodded. “That’s the way the game works. You know, I played in the Groggy Ring as the ball when my old crew went up against the Foxy Pirates.”
“Really? They must have had a tough time getting you in the goal. You could just fly away.”
“At first, yes. But once they had me, it was all over. Look at these scars.” She motioned to her left arm and right ankle where deep cuts had left their mark. “These are from the Groggy Ring.”
A shiver went down Chopper’s spine. “Oh no,” he mumbled. “With no doctor to handle their injuries…” But then he shook his head and put on his determined expression again. “No, they're strong. Sanji and Zoro will definitely win.”
Meanwhile, Sanji had had the ball marker placed on his head and was complaining about it to anyone in reach. That was when the commentator piped up again:
“What you’re hearing now is their entrance music… It’s our returning champions of the Groggy Ring!”
The mouth of the Sexy Foxy’s figurehead opened and moved downwards like an elevator. On it, three silhouettes appeared. The further the elevator moved down and the more became visible of them, the more Chopper’s jaw dropped.
“They’ve gone undefeated for hundreds of matches! The Groggy Monsters are now entering the field!”
They were all big. The smallest of them was already twice Zoro and Sanji’s size, the second double that and the third… The third was simply gigantic. Under loud cheers from their crewmates, they strutted into the ring.
“In the front, we have the four-footed dash freak Hamburg! Behind him is Pickles, the tackle machine! Standing at the rear we have the half fishman, half giant, Big Pan, the wotan! They’re literally the monsters of the Groggy Ring!”
“They put the ball mark on Big Pan!” Chopper shrieked, looking like he was about to pass out.
“That’s the first problem,” Luna said. “And Hamburg and Pickles are no joke either.” She sighed. “Do you still think Zoro and Sanji could win? Because I’d love to see those three monsters get beaten.”
But Chopper said nothing.
“Going up against our undefeated Groggy Monsters,” the commentator announced, “are: The one who eliminated our interference group with one kick, the ‘violent chef’ Sanji! His partner is the Pirate Hunter with a bounty of 60 million, Roronoa Zoro!” Then, after a while: “Our Groggy Monsters choose to ball first! The ball of the Straw Hat team will now go to the center of the opponent’s side!”
Zoro and Sanji were still fighting. By the looks of it, Sanji was refusing to be the ball man, pointing up at his newly acquired hat in annoyance. Meanwhile, the crowd was still cheering, yelling and shouting. Finally, they seemed to reach an agreement, though only through external influence. Once Zoro had been made aware of the no-weapons rule and given his swords away, the preparations were finally complete. Ever since the appearance of the Groggy Monsters, Chopper had been silent and motionless. So, Luna nudged him with her wing once more.
“Hey, Doctor, do you want to get a closer look? I can get you a front row seat in the air.”
Chopper looked over at Luna with large eyes, somehow still trying to keep up a tough persona. Then, he nodded. So, Luna got up from the roof, picked him up and flew off towards the court with Chopper in her arms. With the referee’s whistle, they reached its edge and the game began.
----------------------------------------------------
“GOAL! Goal! Goal! Goal!”
Immediately, Luffy and Usopp broke out into jubilee. Chopper cried with happiness and almost would have fallen out of Luna’s grasp if she hadn’t held him tighter.
“I can’t believe it,” she gasped. “They really did it! You have some amazing friends, Chopper.”
“They’re wonderful, right?” Chopper sobbed.
“Yeah… I wish I had friends like that…”
Only a few seconds later, the ending whistle sounded. Now, it was official. Down on the ground, the Straw Hats celebrated their victory, cheering loudly. Then, it was time for Luffy to pick his new crewmates. Luna landed on the stage with Chopper, shielding him off with her wings from a still very needy Porche.
“Who will the Straw Hats’ captain choose?!” the commentator shouted, flying above it all on his bird.
In front of the stage, the Foxy Pirates were all lined up as if waiting for their sentence.
“Okay,” Luffy said, “Chopper! Come on back!”
Chopper cheered and jumped to the sky in celebration. Then, he ran into Luffy’s arms.
“The Straw Hats have retrieved their doctor!” the commentator announced. “But who will their second pick be?”
Gently, Luffy put Chopper back down and started looking around the crowd.
“Wait, Luffy,” Nami interrupted. “The third match is a one-on-one and their player is their Captain. So, if we take him now, we’ll get an automatic third win.”
Immediately, the Foxy Pirates booed her and yelled insults at her, calling this peanut tactics. Never had anyone ever done something this disgraceful, they said.
“Nami’s right,” Robin commented. “But I don’t want Split-Head travelling with us.”
To this, the rest of her crew agreed. While the crowd was still busy complaining, Chopper tugged at Luffy’s clothes. Curious, Luffy squatted down and Chopper whispered something in his ear. To this, Luffy grinned.
“Alright!” Luffy shouted and stood up. “For my new crewmate, I want… LUNA!”
Luna’s eyes widened. Then, a smile spread across her face. She took off her mask and lifted herself off the stage, flying above the Foxy Pirates to her new crew. The Foxy Pirates lamented and called her name but she just smiled.
“Straw Hat Luffy has chosen Moon Child Luna,” the commentator’s voice travelled across the crowd, “an integral part of the Foxy Pirates’ defense system, sporting a bounty of 11 million! But will he be able to keep her? The next round is combat against our boss, the great Foxy the Silver Fox!”
“After this last round,” Luna said with a smile as she landed, “I’m not worried at all.” She turned to Luffy. “Thank you for getting me out of there, Captain. I hereby swear my loyalty to you. I won’t let you down.”
“I know,” Luffy grinned. “You took care of Chopper, so you can only be a great person.”
“Hey, Luna,” Usopp threw in, “do you know anything about fixing ships?”
“No, sadly not. But if you win the next round, you can get a shipwright.”
“We could, but the people in your old crew all seem like jerks,” Nami grumbled.
“That’s very true. … Come to think of it, the next island over is Water 7, the City of Water, known for its shipwrights. Maybe we could find someone there,” Luna suggested.
“Yeah, but we have to win first,” Zoro cut in.
“Luna-chwan!” Sanji cooed and whirled over to her. “I won just for you! Wasn’t I amazing?”
“You were wonderful,” Luna said with a grin. “The way you kicked Big Pan upright again… I thought I was dreaming!”
“Yeah, yeah, and what about me, huh?” Zoro sneered. “I was the one who put him in the goal ring.”
“After I got you up in the air and got rid of Pickles,” Sanji remarked.
“Oh yeah? I would’ve gotten him out of the way myself!”
“Alright, alright you two,” Luna said calmly. “It was a team effort. Now, why don’t we get you two patched up? Right, Doctor?”
“Right,” Chopper agreed, opening his backpack.

Kuina doesn't die AU, Tashigi dies in Punk Hazard AU, or Zoro is born in Wano AU.
Tumblr media
( inhales ) OKAY HERE WE GO.
KUINA LIVES:
He'd probably continue to push himself just as hard , but not being given Wado , he'd get his own sword from her and her father when he's setting out to leave. She probably goes with them.
Because it HAS to happen , of course Zoro somehow gets lost , and ends up in trouble . Luffy goes to save him as Kuina does , they bump into each other and get along . Save their dumb himbo , and Zoro swears loyalty to Luffy . Kuina thinks it's halarious because of course he does something like this . Joins on temporary basis.
May depart from time to time and visit the crew here and there . She isn't loyal to the strawhats like Zoro , often comes to talk shit with Zoro and spar .
Sanji is incredibly jealous that this beautiful woman is a total tomboy who wants to spar with a big meathead and isn't girly in the slightest .
Kuina probably gets some killer scars , and they talk about it constantly having trained together with Mihawk . But they're both persuing their dreams at their own pace . Kuina has long since been ACCEPTED as a strawhat , though she doesn't stay with them . Ends up staying as a bounty hunter . Excels in one sword style .
Tumblr media
TASHIGI DIES IN PUNK HAZARD
He'd blame himself . Again . He wasn't fast enough , he couldn't save her . It was like watching a flame that had just started to burn bright snuffed out .
It hits him like a fucking sack of bricks , he commits further into training , maybe drawing away from others for a while .
He keeps her sword , he doesn't care if Smoker wants it , he has TWO goals now to accomplish .
Any sword he feels is strong or cursed he keeps , he doesn't know if its rare or not . It doesn't matter , she would of wanted it off the market . He steals a lot of them , and kills pirates or marines who have them for others .
He trades out his swords ( minus Wado ) to give them all attention as much as he can . He only uses her sword when feeling he needs to use it . Usually it stays above his bed hanging .
He's quietly protective of it . And hopes she understands why he's doing what he is . He hopes they both are watching him .
Tumblr media
Zoro Born in WANO
Funnily enough . . . this is 'canon' for my Zoro buuuut.
Zoro was born in Wano , his father was an important Samurai , loyal and faithful to the current Shogun . When everything happened , he'd been looking for a way out when he stumbled across a shipwreck .
He found a barbarian woman named Terra , who was roughed up rather badly , but got better in like three days . Zoro was conceived by them within two years of them meeting . During that time his father was quick to find the perfect escape route .
He couldn't leave Wano , that would be disrespectful , so he took up arms as part of the falling rebellion , Terra managed to escape with a baby Zoro.
She sailed with what limited supplies they had until she got to the East Blue and settled down in a small and quiet Dojo town .
She got sick when Zoro was six , and passed away due to an unknown disease not yet known at the time . Zoro kept her earrings.
The rest you know .

I hacked into the one piece themes mainframe and it's all about the names
#im very tired and its making me a little bit too excited about this but i know im right#i hacked ace and then i hacked zoro and i know how to hack luffy and nami and sanji this is proof of concept#the thesis: family names are defined by their divisions in op + to create contrast with chosen family#the characters that dont have family names in the main cast dont have them specifically to cast contrast with those that do#it's less that im figuring out new things about these characters ive hung around for 10+ years#like it doesnt take a genius to know that op is largely abt found family and chosing your path#but specifically family names is a rule i have yet to break while thinming abt this#example: though zoros family is never shown in the text he was still given a family name#even though characters like usopp have onscreen famous family with BOUNTY POSTERS#he doesnt have a family name. SO. its a choice#now if you take a slight leap and say that this means the theme behind his family name is ''abandonment''#then it super fits that his character theme is ''loyalty''#which is TRUE.#like his origin leans on the fact that he literally has no one#just a kid wandering around#but his biggest moments are defending the people he loves and not letting them leave him#like? thriller bark??? that one newer op chapter where he talks about his promises to kuina and to luffy??#HELL yeah. and i got a whole doc on ace. god. his names are so good. delicious food#anyways i need to go the hell to bed but THINK ABOUT IT#red strings on a corkboard but i swear they make sense#EDIT: lol was thinking abt luffy + how his is largely about being put in a box but breaking out of it and remembered literally episode 1

I think what really fucks me up (in the good way) about Zoro's place in the crew, is that he has a quitting clause. All the others follow Luffy more or less blindly and when they leave it's because an emotional reason that has them overwhelmed (this is overly simplified, I just don't want to get into it right now). But every choice Zoro makes is deliberate. If he did it is because he wanted to, and if he didn't do it it was because he didn't want to. Simple as that. If he's still in the crew it's because he looked at every thing Luffy does and every single time he went "yes. I still want to swear my life to this guy and this guy only". His absolute loyalty is even more meaningful that way. He didn't give it over one time and that was it, he choses it again and again and again. The moment he decided Luffy was not worth it he would leave, but until that moment comes he'll risk life and limb for him, no question. Gods I love him so much.
And that's also why he didn't fret when Nami, and Robin, and Usopp, and Sanji left. He's blunt and clear and he expects people to take him at his words, so of course he'll do the same. In his eyes, if you chose to leave then that's what you wanted and there's no point trying to get you back. Not because he doesn't care about them, but because he would not like it if they tried to stop him from leaving if he no longer wanted to be there. Turns out Nami and Robin were forced to leave for other reasons, okay, we get them back. Usopp chose to leave of his own free will so he better aknowledges that before he comes back. And Sanji not only left of his own free will but swore he would come back, so what's the matter then? Why would he worry?
I fucking love that
(I have a feeling i've said that before, but couldn't find it among my own posts, so maybe I've just been screaming it at random people)

I feel like I’ve found my kin, I fell in love with Kakashi when I was like 8 LOL. Can I request some general yandere Zoro headcanons btw? I loved/still love him too 😶
Yes you may ahhh!!!! I love Zoro so much. I love writing for fandoms like this bc shounen anime are... Well, shounen, they're aimed at dudes, so they tend to not have as large of a female audience so there's not a lot of content out there. I love Luffy and there's like zero girl-targeted content for him. I swear I've spent so much time looking for wholesome, decent LuNa (my otp im sorry i just hhhh) doujins that aren't super male-oriented, and there's like... 2. For a 900+ episode anime. 2.
I also love the concept of a yandere in a situation where they CAN'T kidnap you, they're limited by their circumstances, so they have to kind of adjust or go insane. It's an interesting dynamic because it eliminates the norm for yanderes.
I think I mentioned this but I'm not 100% caught up with one piece (I mean, who is?), so I'm just keeping it simplistic and going with kinda basic Zoro and nothing with specific character developments or any spoilers other than his backstory
Yandere Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)
Tws: all the usuals -- yandere, noncon, kidnapping
He meets you while he's lost. I'm sorry I just. Zoro gets lost in the middle of some place they're docked, and you're just such a sweetheart, you see this guy clearly not knowing where he's going, and offer to help him. He's kind of taken aback by your softness and sweetness.
He's not easily made aware of his own feelings. He's a rough and tough sort of guy, and he has dedicated himself to swordsmanship so much that he's neglected to focus on himself and his interpersonal relationships, and he's not really self aware at all of his own feelings, very out of touch with his emotions.
Obviously, even if he tries to shove it down, Kuina weighs heavily on his mind in relation to you. He's another man that has known loss and it's dealt its damage on his psyche. He can't lose another person who's dear to him again.
This results in him becoming insanely protective, one of the most protective yans out there. He's easily one led into paranoia delusions regarding your safety. However, he's an honest and reasonable guy and can be level-headed when confronted. If someone (not yourself, as he thinks you're naive, but maybe another girl like Nami or Robin) tells him he's being overprotective and exaggerating about your safety, he may actually have a moment of self-realization and admit to it. He's capable of being reasonable enough to see it once it's pointed out to him. However... this doesn't stop him. He tries, really, he genuinely tells himself that he needs to stop. But his instincts just kind of take over. It's an impulse, to stop you from doing even the most slightly dangerous things.
Once you join the Straw Hat Crew, he just kinda... clings. It's a silent presence, but he's always there, constantly seems to show up wherever you are. Unfortunately, you can't really... get away from him per se. You're kinda limited to one ship, at least as long as you're out on the sea. Your only option for respite is going to your room or bathing, otherwise, he's gonna follow you, even if he's not saying anything and (very badly) trying to feign indifference, pretending you just happen to be going the same way all the time. He doesn't really know what to say, he's not good with these things, and often he's acting without really thinking too much about it. He won't usually strike up a conversation, he just... is there. Watches. May awkwardly ask a question or make a passing comment.
One scenario I imagine is you jokingly picking up one of his swords and wielding it around giggling and he just flips out, takes it from you and yells at you not to do that, are you an idiot? Do you want to trip and fall and have that impale you? Do you realize how easy it would be for you to slice your arm open by accident? It's startling to both you and anyone watching -- even for someone who gets yell-y as easily as him, it seems like an overreaction. He'll apologize but insist it's a safety thing, really.
And he really tries to hide his more... aggressive nature, because he thinks it will drive you away -- he's a blunt, tough guy with a short-fused temper, and he thinks that's definitely not something women like very much. He tries not to yell at you, not get mad so easy, keep his calm better around you, and might even be nicer to others so that you don't think he's mean. And for the most part, he can manage that. Except when it comes to a very specific, very problematic blonde crew member. His little conflicts with Sanji get worse, to even a point that he's snapping at him so frequently that even Sanji himself is a bit bewildered and caught off guard by it. The others notice they fight a lot more often... and Zoro always seems to instigate it, picking quarrels over the littlest things. In reality, he's afraid of the other's... sleazy nature. He can't have you falling for that bastard. He even starts to get jittery when you're in the presence of Franky, Usopp, hell even Luffy of all people. It's noticeable, and everyone kinda worries for him.
He kicks himself for it as soon as he does it, but he finds himself insulting you nonetheless. It's a terrible habit. He gets so awkward and flustered that it's second nature for him to say something snarky or even rude when you talk to him, and he immediately is just mentally screaming at himself for doing so. This will get a bit better with time, though, if you two talk more often.
Now, even if you can fight, you're never gonna really get the opportunity. In battle, he's clinging to you and protecting you at every moment, even if it costs the others some unnecessary wounds. It's highly uncharacteristic of him, and they notice. He won't leave your side, insisting that you're a weak fighter and that he has to take care of you. You just don't get it, you overestimate yourself, you underestimate your enemies, you're a girl. What, Nami and Robin? Well, they've been at this much longer than you, and they had rough upbringings. You're different. You're soft... fragile. You just can't see it. You're lucky he's here to protect your dumbass.
Due to your setup, well, he can't really kidnap you per se. He undoubtedly would if you two were somewhere else, in another life or another setting, but that's not really an option, and even as a yandere, he would never go so far as to kill or abandon his crew. So, he's stuck with just... slowly, slowly mentally deteriorating.
Now, he's not capable of kidnapping, he's not smart enough to really manipulate you into anything (although he WILL tell you that some of the other guys are out to use you), so, he's left to be the guard dog he inevitably becomes to you. If you avoid him, he'll just follow you. If you don't talk to him, that's ok. If you confront him, he'll just insist he has no idea what you're talking about, and you'll start to feel like maybe you're just paranoid. The others... don't really know what to do, to be honest. I can see Nami/Robin potentially confronting him, but in the end, they can't force him to change his behaviors, and they can't afford to lose him. This results in, gradually, everyone slowly kind of accepting your dynamic onboard. They feel bad for you, really, but... in the end, Zoro's just more valuable to the crew. Sorry. They're not gonna get rid of him, but they don't want to get rid of you either.
If you leave? It may just be one of the very very few things that could ever cause him to leave the Strawhats. It would tear him up, really, it goes against his dreams, his pride, his loyalty, but in the end... his loyalty is first and foremost to you. He'll follow you if you leave. It's a bad move on your part, because this gets rid of the only thing standing between you and kidnapping. Which, at that point, surely will happen. Like his other behaviors, he'll feel bad, he'll try and stop himself, tell himself it's wrong, but you'll end up bound in some dark basement nonetheless. He's one to take a very simple approach. Find you alone, sling you up and over his shoulder and carry you off before anyone can come.
Rejection doesn't faze him. No matter what, he'll remain by your side. Even if you never love him in return. It's just his nature, he's a guardian through and through.
In the end, he'll be right there by your side, scaring off any competitors, clinging to you like glue, ever in your presence like a shadow, forever. Whether you want him to or not. He's just an inescapable force, an unmovable object, and you're wasting your time trying to change your fate.
Now, he's very flustered with anything sexual. Highly embarrassed, lots of shame, and doesn't talk much about it. It just kind of happens. He doesn't talk much during, mostly grunts and the occasional fuck when you clamp down, occasionally asking you if you're ok, if it hurts, if it feels good. It's one of the only very soft sides of him. In the end, he really, truly loves you, and doesn't want to hurt you, he wants you to feel good and just love him. It's a very different side to him, one no one else has ever really seen, it's the most vulnerable he himself has ever been with another person.
He feels shame for it, but initially he'll definitely be one to steal your things, sit outside of your room at night, listening to you through the wall, try and get glimpses of you bathing or dressing. He really, really feels guilty, and he's one that will, once you're comfortably restrained and never going anywhere, just sit down and list out every nasty little thing he's ever done regarding you, just to get it off his chest. He understands if you react badly, and he'll apologize, which is a bit ironic considering how much worse kidnapping you is.
He'll apologize for that, too. He's actually one to do so a lot. He's normally a proud guy, but with this? He knows it's wrong, he knows it's fucked up. He knows he can't stop. And he'll be sorry to the moon and back. Just never sorry enough to stop.
He's actually a pretty vanilla guy. Hand-holding missionary type. And, despite being so embarrassed over it all, oddly romantic about it. It's one of the only things he's ever soft and gentle about, it's almost unbelievable to you that he's capable of being so gentle and slow with anything. But he'll kiss your forehead, really take his time with it all, make you cum on his fingers before ever actually fucking you. Hold your hand, look into your eyes. It would be honestly incredibly sweet if it weren't... you know, taking place in some dark sealed off room after dragging you there against your will.
If he's particularly mad, he can get rougher, but he'll apologize after. It's a lot of harsh grabbing, biting, it leaves bruises that he'll rub over softly, whispering an apology, even if a little part of him likes the way it looks on you.
