I have to admit, werewolf culture/politics is not my go to. Under Pressure and Deucalion's Progeny have hints at some of that type of world building. (Please heed the warnings, both 'verses are fairly dark. One extremely au and one post canon compliant.)

I really enjoyed A Wolf's Burden by liliaeth for post canon werewolf culture/political world building.

Another darkfic I think touches on some of that, though in an au context again, is beast in the echo by spikeface. This one is Stiles-centric. Again, heed the warnings.

Something more angsty, less dark and again au: Say a Prayer 'Verse by firefall is a 1930's/Great Depression au that touches a little on werewolf culture.

And then something lighter, again in an werewolves are known context (ngl, that's my favorite) is Lalune by pterawaters. I think this one is really, really fun in terms of werewolf culture. And the second chapter has a captive Scott part.

Oh fuck, okay…oh-fucking-kay.

Ava smiles and nods, because she’s very good at smiling and nodding even when she’s losing her shit and Beatrice agreeing to give her a lap dance is absolutely a shit losing moment.

They make their way through the club, this one far different than her own. With more open space and fewer tables. There’s no real stage, as much as each booth has its own personal stage.

It’s also a lot bigger than the Cradle and Cat’s Cradle is huge. This one has a second VIP section upstairs which is where Josephine (who Ava adores) took them. It’s more like the back rooms of the Cradle than the rest of the place. Dark, neon lighting, a vibe of music you can't really hear but can feel rattling through the floors beneath you.

They pass by a series of booths where people are getting private dances. Somewhere in there is Josephine Dalton, one of the richest and most attractive women in the world, getting a lap dance a few days before her wedding while sipping on expensive tequila.

Once they reach their own booth, empty and waiting, Ava looks back at Bea again. “You sure you’re up for this?”

To her surprise, Beatrice nods. “I - I want to try, I think. I’m quite drunk.”

Ava snorts, she’s a bit drunk too. “Okay, you…okay.” Stop saying okay. “I’ll go sit down then!” Ava races in first and practically leaps onto the cushiony little couch tucked into the corner. These booths are smaller, but there are a lot more. The tighter space means that the dancer wouldn't have much room to move around - but they would be close enough that everything would be easier to see.

Once seated, she watches Beatrice come in and latch the door shut behind her. She faces it for a moment, taking a breath, then looks at Ava over her shoulder. “Any advice?”

Ava swallows the lump in her throat, surprised at how she can be so nervous in a place that is so familiar to her. “Don’t overthink it, at the end of the day the hot girl is what matters most. Just remember what I told you - you’re sexy as fuck, Beatrice.”

hi guys i don't read much fanfiction but i read my mutual's gijinka fic And They Were Roommates and it was good and you guys should read it, i also thought i should show my appreciation by depicting my favorite moments artistically (i took a few creative liberties okay)

13 years later and I still can’t believe Dreamworks had the balls to just amputate a 15-year old kid and handled it in like the best way possible.

DreamWorks has always had such mature themes now that I think about it, and they introduced them and handled them in a way that seems so natural to children.

Hiccup’s amputation is such a good example.

DreamWorks didn’t gloss over it either, and even they continued, in every show and every movie from then on, to show what it’s like living with a disability like that. There were some things Hiccup had a harder time doing than before, but in no way did it get in the way of his goals and dreams.

I didn’t understand how important that was when I was a child, watching the movie for the first time, but I understand it now.

DreamWorks has guts, and I’m so happy that they do

A special comic for a special day!  Tomorrow is the six month anniversary of Crank It! If anything, I’m clearly committed to the bit. The fallout show isn’t NOT anticapitalist, but it’s anticapitalist in that way that a lot of recent media goes for, where it makes vague gestures towards ideas like ‘There Is Wealth Inequality, Perhaps’, or ‘maybe a few dozen people having more money than god Isn’t A Good Thing, Actually’. But ultimately it kinda just tiptoes around commenting on anything systemic by offloading the blame onto its shadowy cabal of the ultra-rich, and turning the wastelander underclass into a constant running joke that the audience is expected to laugh along at. Which like. Fine. That’s honestly more than I was expecting I guess. But bad-appling fallout feels like missing the point extra hard, given how much it absolves the US of its role in everything, up to and including literal nuclear armageddon

in conclusion the most poignant thing about ruina is its running theme of Imperfection. imperfection, focused not on its flaws, but on the miracle of it existing to begin with. imperfection not as a failing, but as a triumph. its cracked, broken, deeply in need of repair-- but it's real and its ours and it exists. despite everything it exists and that enough is a relief beyond words, beyond expression. to present a toppled structure not as a conclusion, but an opportunity.

its the choice-- and the joy-- of looking forward, unflinchingly, and facing it. one step at a time.
