🐺Sirius the Jaeger🐺

I'm not even going to lie to any of you right now - I watched this because Khoi Dao is the voice of the main character, Yuliy.

I don't really have too much to say on this show thus far. Starting out the season, the show opened many questions about what are Jaegers? What does it mean by Yuliy is a Sirius? How has this group banded together? What's Willard to Yuliy? And many more questions. However, this show doesn't really answer too many of those opening questions and very quickly feels like it pushes away from what the first episode felt like it was setting up. This show moves very quickly and to an extent left me with more questions than answers. It's not the worst show I've ever seen by any means, but it was one that really left me much to desire in the way of a good show. I like most of the characters: Fallon, Yuily, Willard, Mikhail; but the plot line just didn't quite live up to any hype for me. Plus, at the end of the season - some decisions were made that I'm not sure I particularly enjoyed. The end of the season set up Season 2 in a much different way that I had hoped or predicted, and not necessarily in a good way.

The highlight of this show is Episode 7 with a scene between Yuliy and Willard. It was something that came out of left-field, but I appreciated it none-the-less. It really let me appreciate both characters and their dynamic a little bit more before the end of the season.

Personally, I hope this gets a Season 2 and that Season 2 is kinda like Noragami's Season 2; where it blows Season 1 out of the water and answers some questions that were left open at the end of Season 1.

Again, this isn't a bad anime, but it certainly isn't one of my favorites😞

Yuliy Jirov x Reader - “Yuliy Trying To Catch Your Attention Would Include...”

Requested by anon: Could you do hc’s for Yuliy trying to catch the attention of his crush?”

A/N: This is more like him realising his feelings then trying to catch your attention and how you got together tbh, but hope you like it!

It took him forever to even realised he had feelings for you.

Mikhail was the one that helped him realise his feelings.

He would always be a little shy around you.

More quiet than usual around you as well.

But fully interested in your topics of discussion.

He didn’t realise how he always had a small smile on his face and slightly pink cheeks.

Yuily would also keep an eye on you and wouldn’t really understand when he would get angry when you talk at a man that’s close to your age, especially Mikhail.

But he ignored what he was feeling, maybe it was the mission that was making him act weird? Or he was tired? He didn’t really know nor did he dwell upon it.

He had better things to think about.

Like you.

Mikhail was the one to notice his little brother’s interest in you and he purposely tried to make him jealous after he confronted Yuily and denied any claim he would be thrown regarding you.

So the older brother had to demonstrate his claims with proof.

“Hey (Y/N),” Mikhail’s arm would swing around your shoulders and pull you in his side, “how are you doing?”

Mikhail couldn’t help but smirk as Yuily frowned more and more.

You didn’t really understand what he was doing because he disappeared as quickly as he appeared.

“See little brother?” Mikhail could not conceal his smirk as he watched his brother grumble under his breath, knowing he must be right.

“Sooo, what are you going to do about it, huh?”

Mikhail’s grin falling immediately when Yuily says “nothing”.

“Seriously? You like her, ask her out or I’ll embarrass you,”

Yuily knows his older brother will do just that but he doesn’t want to ruin your friendship.

If he could even call it that, ever since his brother helped him sort out his emotions, he sort of started distancing himself because he didn’t know how to deal with it.

After much frustration, Mikhail decided to help his brother -- only to find his feet though, he needed to learn.

And be teased, like every brother would around his crush.

Mikhail would embarrass him in front of you to try and get you to notice him.

Does it work?

Lol, nope!

So Yuily just tries to get close again.

You were nice enough to start from a clean slate.

And immediately hit it off.

It was so fun between the two of you, he loved you even more but now he was even less inclined to ask you out because he loved what you two had together.

But thankfully, you felt the same way about Yuily and approached his brother for advice for obvious reasons.

Mikhail would know exactly what Yuily likes and maybe if he likes you back.

Thankfully for you, Mikhail was already pretty frustrated with Yuily for still not having done anything.

“He likes you as well, just kiss the pour soul.”

And blushing instantly when he says that as he shoos you away.

You took a while to make your move.

And Mikhail actually thought you were going to act like Yuily and never do anything about it either.

But one night, you got upset as something someone said and you ran into the garden when the moon was out.

And you stayed there a while because it was so beautiful to look at.

Yuily didn’t hesitate to follow you out.

He sat right next to you, close and everything.

Mikhail’s ship finally sailed.

Yuily was really good at comforting you and when you felt better, you turned to him and distinguished his pink stained cheeks.

Fortunately, he didn’t dare move and you slightly grasped both his cheeks and lowered his face closer to yours.

He let you take the lead, slowly closing his eyes as you captured his lips in yours.

His arms slowly etched up to your hips and around your waist, pulling you closer into his chest.

You were sure you heard Mikhail make a small cheer in the house.

Your fingers ran through his hair as you both pulled yourself closer to deepen the kiss.

And when you pulled away, you were both blushing messes.

“That was uh,” moving away from him a little.

It was his turn to make his move and he pulled you pack into his side, kissing your temple.

That how it aaaall started.

Yuily x Reader

Hey! Sorry I vanished for a few weeks? Months? I’m really sorry. I’m so bad at positing things regularly. I promise I’m going to keep posting, just not frequently. If anyone has any requests, feel free to let me know!  

Here is a short fanfic for Sirius the Jaeger. I feel like this one could have turned out better, so maybe I’ll rewrite it sometime? I just really wanted to write something for Sirius the Jaeger. I found Yuliy kind of hard to write for, but I did my best. 

Anyway, enjoy! 

“Again.” 

That was one of the only words your “father” ever spoke to you. From a young age, you were put in cages with vampires and forced to kill them. You never knew why, even to this day. The Jaegers had found you recently. You were huddled in the corner of an underground lab, surrounded by the dust of vampires. Your father was lying facedown on the floor, dead. What happened was a blur, you were fighting a vampire, then another smashed through your cage. Your father’s screams echoing from just a few feet away. Then, your instincts kicked in and you fought. The next thing you knew, a boy your age was standing over you. He had the bluest eyes and a single white streak in his black hair. At first, you flinched and scooted further towards the wall. Yuily sat down across from you. 

“It’s okay. We aren’t those filthy vampires, we won’t hurt you.” And there he sat, until you knew he and his friends really meant no harm. 

That was how you joined the Jaegers. You were silent, hardly ever spoke a word. A few weeks had passed, and everyone was generally pretty nice. They were a bit loud for your taste, but nice. Yuliy was easier to be around. Like you, he was quiet. The silence between you two was never uncomfortable. He had been the first to show you kindness, after all. It didn’t take long for you to find out about his Sirius side. He had such an intense hatred of vampires. It was easy for even a hermit like you to figure out in the past, they had done something to him. You killed them because it was all you knew. 

As for Yuliy, he was confused by you. Your fighting abilities were no joke and you picked up fighting patterns quickly. It didn’t take you long to learn to follow Yuliy once he rushed in. You and him had never once exchanged words, but he’d often quietly offer you a bite of a new dish. He learned you enjoyed trying new foods. He wondered if you ever got to leave the lab they found you in. 

He didn’t mind your silence. Despite your lack of words, he could tell when you offered him comfort. You’d often sit in the same room, offering him company but never forcing him to talk or go out. 

You had stayed with him after he had been wounded, One night, he found you asleep outside of his room. You woke to him gently shaking you awake. 

“It’s late. What are you doing?” He kept his voice at a whisper. You yawned, stretching out your legs. 

“I was worried.” You looked up at him, a small frown present. Yuliy looked away. 

“I’m sorry.” He remembered being shot in midair, then nothing. He sat down on the ground next to you. 

“Are you mad?” You let out a soft sigh, looking out the window. 

“A little. It scares me so much when you run off on your own, but seeing you leap through the air like that…It’s amazing. You’re amazing, Yuliy. It makes it hard to stay mad.”  Yuliy couldn’t help the little smile that appeared on his face. 

“I’ll try not to do it again.” At his words, you let out a light huff. 

“Don’t lie.” You nudged him, giving him a pointed look. He looked away from your gaze,   confirming that he was lying. You smiled a little. 

“Even if you do it again, I’ll be behind you.” You whispered. Yuliy barely caught this, and looked over at you. 

“You need rest. We can talk in the morning.” You stood up, offering him a hand. Yuliy took your hand and bid you goodnight. He liked that side of you, never forcing him to stay with the others but always close enough to offer him help. Yuliy unknowingly smiled as he drifted back to sleep.

Mikhail:

I see him as very hesitant to kiss his S/O at first.

With being a vampire and all.

He’s scared of cutting his S/O with his fangs and such. So he’s VERY gentle.

Honestly, if you want to do more than a quick peck, it takes a lot of convincing.

His lips are surprisingly soft, you blame it on his “super special vampire powers”

When he does kiss you, his favorite kisses are in the morning, when you’ve both just woken up.

It’s when he’s the most willing to give you the most kisses. You take full advantage of this :P

Yuliy:

He’s also fairly hesitant, but not because he’s a vampire; but mostly because he’s awkward.

You’d probably his first significant other, so it’s a lot of learning for him.

But he tries his best!

He does love you, he just doesn’t quite know how to express it.

His favorite time to kiss you is after long missions and days working when you can just relax before bed.

Or when you’re distracted by a book and maybe sitting by the fireplace with a hot drink.

He likes to come up behind you and give you a quick peck when you look up to smile at him.

Oh my god I had so much fun writing this one. I thought it’d be weird to have Philip or Fallon doing the flirting since Philip is 14 and Fallon is like 25 or 26 I think? So I created some Jaegers that were around the same age group as you and Yuliy. Enjoy!!! :)

Yuliy x Reader

You sat in the meeting room, fiddling your fingers. Your eyes panned over towards Yuliy, who stared aimlessly out the window.

“You don’t seem excited to meet the new Jaegers that are going to be working with us, are you?” You poke at him. His gaze shifts towards you for a moment then back at the window.

“I don’t see a reason to be excited. We’re all equals as far as I’m concerned. It’s not like they’re celebrities.” He said, resting a hand on his chin.

“Yeah but it’s the first time we’ll be meeting some Jaegers in our age group. It’s usually just you, me and Philip all the time.” You laid back in your chair.

“I don’t need any new friends.” The raven hair boy said, unbothered by your enthusiasm. You sighed at him. You knew he wasn’t really one for socializing. You and Philip really seemed to be the only exceptions. You wanted to hold his hand, and encourage him to indulge in some human interaction.

“Yuliy doesn’t need friends. Just look at him.” Philip teased.

“Philip doesn’t like the idea of you talking to anyone else but him.” You teased back. 

“W-What?! That’s not what I said!” The blonde’s face reddened.

“Everyone knows how much you actually care about Yuliy. I know you’d hate it if he got reassigned to a different group of Jaegers and left you all alone-

“Stop being weird!” Philip cut you off, red from ear to ear. You could’ve sworn you heard Yuliy chuckle at the boy, and turned to him.

“Yuliy…” You said quietly before leaning towards the boy. “Be friendly.” 

He turned to your puppy dog gaze. “For me?”

A slight red tint peeked at his cheeks. “Fine.”

“Sorry we’re late everyone!” Dorothea entered the room. “They got a little lost.” 

“Let’s get acquainted and get down to business.” Willard came in behind her, followed by three unfamiliar faces. You stood up to be polite, and motioned Philip and Yuliy to do the same.

“No need to be so work hungry, Mr. Willard.” A tall tan skinned male spoke. He entered through the door and his gaze immediately landed on your frame.

The tan skinned male smirked at you, which definitely caught your attention. A tan skinned girl and pale adult male entered as well. 

“Just Willard is fine,” Willard said, setting a stack of files on the desk.

“Alright everyone, these are the Jaegers that HQ sent to work with us. I hope we can all get along.” Dorothea cooed.

“I’m Professor Torres and these are my subordinates, Nina and Aiden.” You thought the tan girl was beautiful, she had long brunette hair and glowing skin. 

“And who might you be?” Aiden said, reaching for your hand. You were captivated by his eyes, which were a fiery yellow color. An odd contrast to his caramel tan skin and raven colored messy bowl cut. You absent-mindedly lifted your hand to shake his before realizing he left a feathery light kiss on your knuckles.

“Oh my,” Dorothea teased. 

“It’s Y/N..” You blushed, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Yuliy was quick to separate your hand from Aiden’s by stepping slightly in front of you.

“And who might you be?” The tan male smirked.

“Yuliy.” The other raven haired male almost spat. The menacing gaze the two youth put themselves in was enough to make the entire room uncomfortable. 

“And I’m Philip!” The blonde chuckled nervously.

“Got a problem, sparky?” Aiden smirked at the the werewolf boy.

“And if I do?” Yuliy spat back.

“I’ve heard all about you, Sirius boy.” The tan boy spoke.

“I haven’t heard a thing about you. Must mean you aren’t relevant.”

“Alright that’s enough.” Nina said, coming in between the two. The tan boy winked at you. 

“Behave.” She pulled at Aiden’s ear.

“Ow ow ow!” He winced, “Sheesh, Nina?! I’m just being a gentleman!”

“You’re being a pest.” She said, letting go of his ear. “Sorry about him. He’s nothing but a big flirt- harmless overall. Excuse his shit-attitude.” Nina waved.

“I can see that.” You chuckle. “It’s fine.”

“See, I don’t bite.” He winks at you again and you look away, blushing a bit. Yuliy pushes you in front of him towards the furthest seat away from Aiden.

“Let’s try to stay on task and get back to the briefing. We have a lot of work to do tomorrow.” Willard says, taking a seat at the round table.

“Right!” You say, sitting down.

After roughly an hour of discussion, everyone is dismissed to do as they please for the rest of the day.

Yuliy is the first to leave, without really saying much of anything and you sigh. 

“So much for getting him to make friends.” You sink into your seat. You see Philip and Nina chatting amongst each other as they exit the room.

“I should really go check on him.” You huff, standing up from your seat. You exited the room and could hear a pair of feet shuffling behind you.

“So, Y/N was it?” Aiden says, towering at your side while you walk. You perk up and turn to the citrine eyed male.

“Yeah,” You muster a smile. You didn’t want to be rude, and your mind was elsewhere.

“I didn’t mean to turn you off or make you uncomfortable. I know I can be a little forward sometimes. When I see someone so.. beautiful.. I can’t help it sometimes. I’m learning though!” He smiled nervously.

“What- no it’s fine. It- you just caught me off guard and I was only worried my boyfri- I thought Yuliy… would get mad? He’s sorta protective over me.” You say nervously as well.

“That Yuliy of yours, he’s your boyfriend?” He asked slyly. Your face flushed red, and you didn’t really know what to say. The werewolf boy never directly asked you out, nor did he really try to court you in the first place. You were friends since you joined the Jaegers and you told him how you felt about him with a kiss. And since then, you spent a lot of extra time together. He had once expressed how important you were to him as well, and kissed you. But other than that, you don’t recall the boy making things official with you.

To be fair, he didn’t think he had to. You were always there, and he wanted to protect you so you could continue to do just that. He had little experience with the idea of courting someone, and he thought that expressing to you how he felt about you was all that mattered.

No one ever made him feel threatened over you until today.

“Something like that.” You smiled softly.

“Guess you and me are out of the question.” Aiden sighs, resting both hands on the back of his neck. “That’s too bad. I’m one heck of a lover.”

His lip curled into a smirk, and you couldn’t help but laugh a little. As enticing as he was, he wasn’t really your type.

“I’m sure you are.” You say, “But Yuliy is… he’s really special to me. It’s important that he knows that.”

“You should go talk to him. Reassure him that I’m not a threat to his precious relationship with you. I’d do it myself, but I think I’m the last person he wants to see right now.” Aiden chuckled.

You nodded before departing from the black haired youth with a wave. You searched the entire building for him, and Yuliy was definitely a stickler when it came to not wanting to be found.

But you knew him like the back of your hand. You’d often find him on a roof or in a tree since he liked to climb so much. He did that mostly when he wanted time to think. If he’s angry, you’ll find him in the garden or staring off into a body of water. 

Petals found their way to your hair and you shook your head profusely to get them out.

You sneezed since the pollen in the breeze was a little aggressive, and you heard a being shift above your head. Your eyes shifted up at the boy in the tree as he briefly stared down at you before looking away.

“I found you.” You say softly, just loud enough for him to hear over the whistling wind. He looked at you again, letting out a sigh.

“Do I have to come up, or are you going to come down?” You put your hands on your hips and shift your weight to one leg. He almost smiles at you when he shakes his head. You sit at the base of the tree and he slides down one of the awkwardly shaped branches to sit beside you.

“What was all that earlier?” You say, getting straight to the point.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He says, crossing his arms.

You stare at him, and he knows you want a better answer than that.

“He was making you uncomfortable, so I wanted him to back off.” He admits.

“Unless those are the kinds of guys you’re into. Then, by all means, I won’t try to impose like that ever again.” He looks away, almost as if he’s pouting. You shove at his side.

“Come on Yuliy, you know me better than that.” You chuckle at the boy.

“Do I?” He says, a little unsure of himself. He knows that he’s not that forward, but frankly he didn’t know if that’s what you wanted him to be. He felt insecure, and seeing Aiden flirt with you made him wonder if he should be stepping his game up.

“Yuliy, you know how I feel about you. No one could ever come between the two of us. I like you for you and you don’t have to change just because some guy kissed me on the hand. It was just a gesture, one that I don’t think I could ever see you trying to do but-

His gaze on your frame made you feel a little self-conscious. “What I mean is that I like you how you are! I like all the things you do now. You’re more than enough.” You ponder back to all the kisses you’ve both shared and all the subtle hand-holding. You were more than happy with the amount he was dishing out.

“So don’t feel like you’re not…” You say, looking down at your lap. You felt him shift towards you, and his warm breath paint over your cheeks. You turned towards him and his soft lips pressed against yours. He wasn’t much of a talker when it came to his feelings so this gesture alone was enough for you to understand what he wanted to say. His energy felt hungrier than you were used to, and you tried your best to keep up with his touch. He pushed you down on the ground, and the grass tickled at your ears, making you shudder into the kiss. The sound you made after his hand clutched your jaw was one he never heard before but wanted to hear more of.

“Yuliy..” You whined, feeling a little restless. He snapped out of his ravenous mouth work, but still close enough to your face that some of his hair rested on your forehead.

“Sorry,” was all he could say, sitting up.

“It’s alright.” You laugh, which made him feel a little better about his behavior. “I never pinned you as the jealous type.”

“Well, you’re mine. So of course I’m going to get jealous.” He said through closed eyes, leaning back on his palms. You could feel your ears getting hot. All the reassurance you could’ve ever wanted in a simple phrase.

You wrap your arms around him, knocking both of your bodies over. 

“And you’re mine.”

So I recently discovered this beautiful anime and (while it destroyed my heart) I instantly thought this song fit their tragic story so well; of how that horrific night so cruelly forced Yuliy and Mikhail onto such different paths. Of how, while Mikhail never stopped worrying about his little brother, Yuliy never stopped trying to avenge his big brother. And then, when they finally had happiness within their grasp, for all the power of the Arch Yuily still couldn't save the one who mattered most to him, and spent the rest of his life fighting for a dream that his father, his mother, Mikhail would be proud of. He would continue their legacy until the day he could join his family in the stars, and that shit just kills me.

Sirius Artbook Vol 1

My Sirius BD came in a few days ago, and I thought to share some of the artbook. It actually clocks in at 92 pages and not the advertised 96, but I’ve been so burned by this anime that I don’t care it has nice paper.

Volume One is Jaeger-only, no vampires and no side cast.

First are the character bios for the team, which are basically two pages each with website descriptions, screenshots, and some setting material.

Yuliy get four pages because he’s a special boy.

They also list everyone’s weapons: gimmick three-sectioned staff (Yuliy), “Willard’s weapon” (which is a Luger Pistol, but they probably don’t want anyone making that connection), thompson submachine gun (Dorothea), bull-barreled shotgun (Philip), and simply “a weapon case” (Fallon).

After that is a mere four pages of character drafts, which were also posted on the designer’s twitter.

Episode 1-6 summaries each get a page spread and are pretty much copy-pasted from the website’s story section, but hey at least it looks pretty?

The biggest chunk of the artbook (36 pages!) goes to rough keyframes. Artists aren’t listed, but it’s fairly obvious which are Sato’s cuts and which are regular staff.

Also, a few of Ando’s storyboards.

Interviews with the staff are sprinkled between story and animation pages. The different background colors were a nice touch. 

Not a full translation, but I’ll summarize a few points for each:

Mai Matsuura (Art Director)

She was the original designer for Agatha, Sachi, and Alexei.

The hardest thing to draw in the entire show was hair, everyone in the studio struggled with it. Though it looked simplistic, movement and bounce were difficult.

Personally, she had trouble determining Yuliy’s facial expressions since he’s not very transparent.

Foreheads were emphasized in Nishimura’s original designs, and so she kept that in the simplified art style.

Differential details: Yuliy and Willard are both very left-sided (i.e. most visual information), Phillip’s lower eyelashes are spiky, Fallon has small eyes, Ando kept telling her to give Dorothea a bigger butt.

She was unhappy how the “Thanks, Ryoko!” scene was emotionally unclear.

Yuto Uemura (Yuliy)

He was very excited to work with veteran staff, especially Horiuchi.

As things progressed, his portrayal of Yuliy gradually shifted from “revenge” to “this is my job as a Jaeger” character.

He tried to give a gentle impression toward teammates, but it might’ve felt cold with “an exquisite distance (lol).”

Family is a keyword for this show.

He thinks of Yuliy as a protagonist who keeps on going no matter what bad things happen. He’s a main character that feels heroic with an impression of principled royalty. (The point is he’s like Aragorn, I guess.)

There wasn’t much effort put into matching child!Yuliy, who felt more like an ordinary boy.

Kenyu Horiuchi (Willard)

Horiuchi immediately saw Willard as someone who wasn’t shaken much, cool and intelligent, but maybe carrying complicated baggage from the past.

Later on, there was an “Are you atoning for sin?” feeling.

Care was given to different nuances and tones when saying Yuily’s name, and guided by the director.

Breathing techniques were also important.

He has complicated feelings on being typecast into serious roles for older men, but also sees the show itself as one of his favorites.

Nanako Mori (Dorothea) x Shunsuke Takeuchi (Fallon) x Yusuke Kobayashi (Philip)

Kobayashi originally auditioned for Yuliy, but got a second one for Philip.

Mori describes Dorothea as someone who has a lot of yang (masculine) qualities and seriousness, but is able to switch to a cuter persona when talking to a friend.

Philip was directed to be portrayed as a “child of the times” who could switch between professionalism and childishness.

His “Don’t touch my hair!” lines were usually ad-libbed.

Fallon is kind and energetic like a big brother, but isn’t very deep.

They saw familial love and duty as big themes, between Dog-ville and Philip’s past and the Naoe drama. Takeuchi mentions the vampires were family too, in a sense.

Masahiro Sato (Animation Director)

It was a precondition to have good action staff, so Sato was recruited before the basic premise had been written.

He did about half of all action cuts.

Wolf Guy, the Doberman Cop liveaction, and old Hong Kong and Toei movies are listed as influences, but he laughs that the story turned out nothing like them. 

Originally, the werewolf element was stronger than the vampire element, since the vampires were added later in the planning stage. But lots of things changed, and only the three-sectioned staff concept was kept.

The three-sectioned staff was his baby.

Yevgraf’s stupid glitter leotard was his idea.
