Narrative

It was night time, and Toph was preparing for bed. She wished she could get out of the prison her parents had kept her in. I mean, many people would kill to live the life she lives. But it's just not her life. Her parents treat her like she's a walking porcelain doll only because she is blind. 

 

She only feels like herself when she's earthbending. She is the greatest earth bender there is, and she will confidently argue and establish her point. 

 

Toph had three teachers. The first two were the first earth benders in history: badger moles. The third was Cara, her dearest friend and the second greatest earth bender after Toph. 

 

Toph was grateful to Cara because she not only taught her but was also her best friend. Her only friend at that. Toph's parents prohibited her from making friends due to "safety concerns." They didn't want anything to happen to Toph, which was understandable, but they hovered so much that Toph couldn't do or experience much on her own. 

 

Cara visited Toph almost every night. Ever since she was practically a baby. 

 

Toph snuck into the garden and sat on the grass, simply listening to the breeze. She picked up on some foot steps, and earth bent a boulder at the intruder, only for them to catch it with their hands. 

 

Toph smiled, her back still turned away from the person, and rose. 

 

"Now, Toph, that's no way to greet house guests." Cara remarked, throwing down the boulder and walking towards Toph. 

 

Toph laughed and hugged Cara. "it's my way of greeting people." They giggled as they moved back and forth in the hug. Cara is likely the only person Toph would hug like this.   Definitely the only person, given that Toph does not hug people. 

 

They sat on the grass and talked for hours as usual, until Cara grabbed Toph's hands with a serious expression on her face. Toph always knew when something was awry, especially with Cara. 

 

"What's wrong, Ra?" Toph asked, concerned. 

 

"Do you remember when I told you my reason for being born?" Cara asked Toph. 

 

Toph nodded, patiently waiting for her to continue. 

 

"Well, we've all heard of the Avatar's return; you're aware of my duty to protect and help him. Do you recall when I told you that when you grew up, you would play an important role in overthrowing the Fire Nation?" Cara asked. 

 

Toph's forehead wrinkled as she remembered Cara saying that, but she didn't take it seriously. 

 

"Well, the time has come. The Avatar will soon arrive to you, and you will take what I have taught you and teach him." She said, sternly.

 

Toph sat there, astonished and perplexed. She slowly moved her hands back, but Cara quickly grabbed them and held them to her chest, over her heart. 

 

"What are you talking about, Cara!? I can't teach the Avatar! I can't even leave my house without a guard attached to every footstep. How am I going to help the Avatar overthrow the Fire Nation?" She replied as hot tears streamed down her face. 

 

Cara held Toph in her arms as she comforted her. She waited until she calmed down and held her cheeks, giving her a soft smile. 

 

"Toph, do you know how strong you are? Do you know how capable you are? You are literally the smartest person I know. I know you can do this; you've been taught by the greatest along with me. You are the greatest earth bender there is. I know this might seem impossible, but nothing is impossible when you have faith and courage. I believe in you, and the spirits believe in you. You, my strong warrior, can do this." She finished, grabbing Toph's hands and pulling her to her feet. Cara confidently crossed her arms, holding a smirk on her face. 

 

"Now is the Blind Bandit going to help me or not?" Cara asked. 

 

Toph smiled and wiped her eyes, putting her hand on her hip and sticking out the other.  

 

"You've got yourself a deal." Toph said, as they shook on it. They bowed to each other and gave each other a hug, laughing. 

 

Cara kissed Toph's cheek, laying her head in the crook of Toph's neck. "I love you, Tophy." 

 

Toph slightly blushed and held Cara tighter, "I love you too, Ra."

Zuko Learning How To Braid Hair Headcanons

Pairing: Zuko x Fem!Black/POC!Reader

Genre: fluff

Synopsis: you teach Zuko how to braid hair after he's intrigued with how you do Katara's.

Warnings: zuko x fem!black/poc!reader, regular aged!zuko, reader is same age as zuko, one curse word, mentions of toxic masculinity

A/N: this has been sitting in my inbox for a long time buuuuttt I'm finally gonna do it cuz I have nothing better to do, and I'm stumped on my MHA hcs so let's go!!

You were braiding Katara's hair one night before bed, having your usual talk sessions, not knowing that Zuko was watching from his place a bit separate from the main group

Zuko had just been accepted into the Gaang, but everyone was still wary of his presence given the absolute hell he had put you guys through

Only you seemed to give him the benefit of the doubt, which he was very grateful for, and would never take for granted.

Even so, it was still very awkward for him to ask you about the subject. Braiding was for girls, so why was he interested in it?

He didn't have to bring it up, as early that morning you been awake and brought the subject up to him, who had been the only other person awake that early.

"Saw you watching me braid Katara's hair last night. You seemed interested?"

Zuko will at first brush it off harshly, saying something similar to "Why would I be into hair braiding?"

To which, you replied, "well, if your toxic masculinity is telling you that, you might want to think differently."

It shut him up while you explained to him that hair braiding isn't just something girls do for fun; it's intertwined into many different cultures as art practices, rights of passage, etc.

You asked him if he was interested again, to which this time Zuko confessed that it indeed intrigued him.

You called him to sit on a rock in front of a large piece of glass that was propped up by another rock. He watched you play with his hair in the reflection, asking him if he wanted you to do a little something to his hair as a demonstration

He agreed, and by the time the rest of the gaang woke up, Zuko had a fresh new look - an undercut with two two braids leading to the back of his head, the rest of his hair pulled into a small knotted bun

From there on, you slowly began to teach Zuko basic steps for braiding, and eventually he gets the hang of it it becomes a pastime for him, and he's grateful if you give him the opportunity to braid your hair from time to time.

Its a cute activity you two do together that has things leading in a different direction...~

An: GOOD DAY FRIENDS. Hahaha so I still exist. SORRY I DIDN'T POST FOR LIKE EVER. I was just caught up doing idek what. Anyways, I’m also sorry for responding to this request so late, but I hope this is good enough to make up for the wait. (Hey that rhymed!)

(Ok so there's a slight plot twist, and this is mostly about Zuko. But ya know,, I hope it's still good.)

(OH and I added the Keep reading thing because it's a little longer.)

“I don’t even know how I got to this point.” Zuko thought.

“H-hey yn,”

“Oh! Hey Zuko!” you smiled.

“Your hair looks nice,” he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

“Thanks, I would say yours does too, but it always does!”

He blushed furiously at that, mumbling out a thanks he’s not even sure you heard.

In the distance, a twig could be heard snapping. The pair turned their heads to the source, only to see a very happy blue eyed water tribe boy, holding something suspiciously behind his back.

“Sokka!” you neared Sokka rapidly, excited to see him.

“Hey Yn!” he grinned, pulling out a bouquet of hand picked flowers from behind him. “For the pretty lady,”

You giggled, taking the flowers from his hands, marvelling at all the pretty colours. Whilst you were lost in the blossoms, the firebender had stormed off, completely and utterly enraged.

“Where’s Zuko?” you looked around, looking for said person.

“Uh he just left,”

“Darn it.”

Zuko hadn’t really talked to anyone else throughout the day, keeping conversations to the bare minimum.

“How could Sokka like Yn? I thought he liked Suki? Does Suki know?” the firebender pondered as he worked through the firebending forms with his trainee. “IS SOKKA CHEATING ON SUKI?”

His thoughts were cut short by the last airbender himself.

“You okay, Sifu hotman?”

“I’m fine,” he grumbled.

The avatar was immediately taken aback by something, Zuko didn’t yell at Aang for calling him ‘Sifu hotman’. This was new?

The fire bender showcased a few more forms, before finally having finished his training for the day.

Zuko grumbled and stomped like a child having a tantrum all the way back to his tent.

(Dinner time :)

The former prince had yet to arrive to dinner, so they took the time to discuss him.

“Anyone else noticed that Zuko’s been acting more angsty today?”

“Yeah, he didn’t yell at me when I called him Sifu hotman,”

“And he avoided me all day!”

A few hums of agreement were passed along.

Not from you or Sokka though.

Sokka knew exactly what was happening, but you were unsure.

Before you could try to come up with a good enough idea, the center of the discussion himself came into view. You waved at him, and signaled towards the empty spot next to you. You could swear you saw the edges of his lips curve into a smile, but it was gone in a blink. Zuko sat next to you, Katara passing him a bowl of mush?

Although conversation was flowing gracefully between the rest, Zuko couldn’t get his mind off of you and that moron Sokka.

“How could she like him? He’s with Suki? Could Sokka really be cheating on Suki? I need to tell her about the flowers, ok ok! uhhhhh I’ll tell her after dinner.” Zuko thought.

He was snapped back to the present when a hand landed on his bicep.

“You okay?”

“Oh uhh, yeah, sorry,”

“You sure? I’m not meaning to intrude, but you seemed upset all day? You can tell me anything, you know?”

He looked into your worry filled eyes, and gulped, directing his vision somewhere else. His eyes landed on the bowl in front of him.

“I’m just a bit worried.”

“About what?”

“Uh Aang, he’s not a fast learner.” he lied.

“HEY WHAT?! YOU SAID I WAS!” Aang yelled, completely confused.

“I’m sure you’ll figure something out, you're pretty smart.” you grinned at Zuko.

He smiled slightly at you, mouthing a ‘thanks’. Meanwhile Aang eyed Zuko angrily.

“I’m a fast learner.” he mumbled to himself.

Later that night, practically everyone retired to their tent, except for Zuko and Suki. The kyoshi warrior was on her way to Sokka’s tent, before the firebender stopped her.

“Suki, I need to talk to you.”

“Uh ok, sure.”

The pair went to a more secluded spot, and Zuko made sure that no one else was there.

“Suki, I think Sokka’s in love with Yn.”

She raised a brow.

“Well, today, he gave her flowers and said For the pretty lady,”

“Oh yeah.” she deadpanned.

Zuko’s face fell.

“You knew?”

“Yeah.”

“And you're okay with it,”

“Yup,”

The firebending prince stared at her, completely confused. Before finally realising.

“You guys are so weird,” Zuko grumbled as he walked away, leaving a giggling Suki behind.

The firebender needed another plan, and so this was plan b: ask Katara to pair them up for chores.

Katara was brushing her hair when Zuko appeared behind her.

“Hello,”

“Uh hi.” she said, continuing her task.

“I need to ask you something.”

“Shoot.”

“Can you pair Yn and I for the market today.”

Her eyes widened, and she turned around only to find a blushing, fidgeting Zuko, and suddenly everything clicked. The waterbender smiled softly, and nodded.

“Will do,”

“Thanks Katara,”

She smiled again as he walked away.

“What a dork,” she thought aloud.

“Ok, Sokka is feeding Appa, Aang and I are cooking, Toph is making sure no one is around our campsite, Zuko and Yn are on market duty.”

“I hate market duty,” you pouted and Zuko panicked. “Let’s go,”

Zuko got up and followed, both of you grabbing a basket before leaving the temple and heading to a nearby town.

As you two wandered the streets, occasionally stopping at a fruit stand or two, you noticed an antique shop.

“Ooh! Let’s go inside.” you held his hand as you pulled him into the shop.

A lovely Jasmine scent filled your senses, as you dragged Zuko through the aisles.

Your attention jumped to an ornate watch, and your hands rose to hold it. It felt heavy, and looked gorgeous, you stroked your thumb lovingly across the textured surface, dust coating your skin.

“What’s that?”

“It’s a stopwatch, isn’t it gorgeous.”

“Ah, that’s one of my favourites too,” a man’s voice sounded.

When the pair’s attention turned to it, you were met by a quite handsome man, around your age.

“I’m Lee,” he said, and Zuko felt a ping of jealousy rising.

“Yn,” she replied.

“And who’s this fella?”

Zuko didn’t answer, narrowing his eyes at the guy.

“Okay,” he said. “You looking to buy it?”

“I’m a bit short on money,” you laughed, “but it’s a nice thought.”

“How about this: I’ll get it for you, and you go out on a date with me?”

You directed your vision back to the clock, it was really breathtaking, but you weren't one to go on dates with random people.

But then again, he was really cute.

You looked back at Zuko, who seemed really mad.

“Actually, I think I’ll pass.”

He nodded and walked away. You held Zuko’s hand as you left the store.

“That was interesting.”

You said, attempting to lighten the mood, but once you looked at the firebender, he seemed to still be eyeing the shop angirly.

Some things just never made sense with that boy.

Once you were both back at camp, you made your way to the kitchen, unpacking and ranting to Katara as you did so.

“Like damn why 200 for a stopwatch I’ll just look at the sky like what?”

Katara laughed before whispering to you:

“How did Zuko react to that guy asking you out?”

“He seemed annoyed, probably because he wanted to leave.”

“Hm, okay,”

You stared at the teen in front of you.

“What are you plotting?”

“Oh nothing,” she said, in a sing-song voice.

Ok plan c: Zuko was getting desperate. Extremely desperate. So he recruited Katara. It went something like this.

“Katara,”

“Uh, hi?”

“I need to ask you something,”

“Again?”

He clearly deflated in front of her, causing the waterbender to laugh before telling him to ask her.

Zuko smiled before starting:

“So, Sokka likes Yn.”

“He does?”

“Yeah, long story, anyways-” he cut himself off, an angry blush covering his face, extending to the tips of his ears.

“Do you like Yn?” she said, knowingly.

The firebender’s blush somehow became more furious as he brought up his hands to cover the evidence.

Katara burst out laughing at his reaction, drawing attention to the two of them.

“What’s so funny?” Sokka yelled from the other end of the court yard.

The healer simply shook her head, as if to signal it was nothing.

Zuko’s blush got more pigmented at an alarming rate once he noticed your eyes on them, and then he noticed you were next to Sokka. His blush dropped, and his heartbeat quickened, Zuko stalked off to who knows where, Katara following in pursuit.

“Yes, I do.”

It took her a minute to understand he was answering her previous question, but when she did, she nodded.

“So what do you want me to do,”

“I don’t know, help me?”

“Uh ok,” Katara put a finger on her lip as she thought, “I have a plan,”

Ok plan c part 2, Katara’s plan: field trip.

You and Zuko rode on Appa for a while, looking down at the scenery. Once Zuko found a nice spot, he landed Appa and the both of you set up the picnic.

“Zuko, this was such a cute idea!”

“Thanks, but it was really Katara’s idea.”

“Why’d Katara suggest for us to go on a picnic?”

Zuko’s brain was blank, what on earth was he supposed to say?

“I’ll assume you don’t know either.”

He nodded.

The rest of the morning was spent laughing and sharing tales, as if living in a bubble.

The way back was also fun, cuddling with Zuko on Appa because he was warm.

Or maybe because you were in love with him.

Nevertheless, the day was enjoyable.

But when you got back, things went south.

--

You had all been around the campfire, when Sokka pulled you aside.

“Close your eyes.”

You followed his instructions and felt something tie around your wrist.

“Ok, look.”

Once you opened your eyes, you saw a handmade bracelet around your wrist, carved by Sokka himself.

“Oh Sokka, it’s beautiful.”

You pulled the watertribe boy into your arms, and he grinned at Zuko, who was scowling.

Rest of the night was awkward between you and Zuko to say the least.

Plan ??

Zuko had lost count at this point, probably already through the entire alphabet, yet still nothing.

Today was his breaking point. Something about today’s previous events had him on edge, and seeing you so close to Sokka made his blood boil. Sokka was just about to say something when Zuko stormed near the two of you. Sokka’s brows furrowed and his grip on your waist tightened, pulling you closer to him.

“Hey Zuko,”

“Hey Yn, I need to talk to you.”

“Oh uh, sorry Sokka I’ll be right back.”

The watertribe member glared at the firebender.

Zuko took you somewhere private, before starting,

“Yn, I’ve had this on my mind for sometime now, and it’s killing me to not know how you feel. I like you, like a lot, like-”

You crashed your lips onto his, and after a moment of shock, he leaned in too. The kiss lasted for a few seconds, before it was broken by you.

“I like you too Zuko, but I would have appreciated it if you had told me earlier.”

He smiled at you, you were finally his, wait were you?

“Does this make us a couple?” he asked, scared you would shoot him down.

“If you wanna be.”

Zuko smiled, content and happy. A squeal could be heard from the hallway, Aang. “YOU FINALLY DID IT ZUKO!”

“Katara told you?!”

“What about Katara?” you asked.

“Haha,” Zuko rubbed the back of his neck nervously, he had a lot of explaining to do.

The next day, everyone was boarding Appa to leave their current home. Sokka walked up to Zuko, holding Suki’s hand.

“Congratulations man,”

“Aren’t you upset with me?”

“Why would I be upset?”

“Because, you like Yn?”

Sokka smiled.

“Actually, it was this whole thing to prove to her that you like her back, because she didn’t believe me, so we pretended I was into her so you could confess.”

“What.”

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡, 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟐

A/N: This mf long. Hope y'all enjoy, tho 🩵

Narrative

four massive fireballs arcing over the Water City walls and into the city. It is daylight, and the battle for the survival of the Northern Water Tribe has begun in earnest. The four fireballs land at various points within the city and explode. Back to the sanctuary, where Appa and the others are, the black and white fish circling each other in the sanctuary pond. Katara sits sadly in front of it, with tears in her eyes, Aang has been taken by Prince Zuko.

Above the waterfall, the Moon Warriors are perched on their polar bears on the frigid tundra, keeping an eye on Katara, Sokka, and Yue. They get on the flying bison and soar above them to find Aang. Lilia, Yanna's third command, motions for three Warriors to go protect them while the rest guard the oasis. 

- Time Skip-

Yanna and her mother rushed to save women and children. Many Moon Warriors are fighting with the Northern tribe, taking down soldiers on rhinos and catapulting fireballs against the wall. The women gasped as they watched the Warriors take down the soldiers, Yanna covered a woman holding a small child. She covered her face and told them to stay put and take cover.

The Fire Nation assault on the city below. A line of Fire Navy ships abuts the outer wall, which continues launching fireballs deep into the unoccupied portions of the city. The invaders have penetrated the outer wall with infantry and armor. The Water Tribe still holds one of the towers in the foreground, but it is clear the defenders are losing this battle.

A couple of Fire Nation war rhinoceros, each with small catapults on either side of its saddle. One after the other, the soldiers on the rhinoceros fire their catapults.

Yanna and her sister waterbends tall structures around the houses of women and children. She waterbends the snow up and pushes the soldiers back away from the second wall. The secondary wall still holds a thin moat of water in front of it. The defenders are few, however, and a deadly rain of fireballs spreading destruction deep inside the city, Fire Nation tanks, firing as they advance toward the secondary wall.

Yanna looks up into the black, smoke-filled sky, and then the sky turns red. Yanna's heart sunk as she gazed at the now-red moon. She stared at the Northern Waterbenders, who had lost their ability to bend. Something has happened to the moon spirit, and the fire balls then penetrate the second wall, forcing the benders to flee.

The Moon Warriors formed a defensive line in front of the second wall, and Yanna felt wrath wash over her. Yanna's eyes began to glow as she moved her hands, as did the Warriors in a circular motion. They carved a hole in the ice, causing a few soldiers to stumble through. The sky then darkened to grey, Yanna's eyes blazed with rage as she realized what had just occurred; the moon spirit had been destroyed.

As she lifts her hands and cries, "RISE!" Hot tears streaming down her face. When the ice begins to quiver and shatter, the Fire Benders cease firing.

Seconds pass before the serpent emerges from the ice, leans down, and Yanna leaps upon the serpent, raising her swords into the air, "FOR THE WATER TRIBE, ATTACK!" The Warriors charge the army on their polar bears, while Yanna swipes her swords, taking out soldiers, tanks, and catapults.

A glow spreads from behind the citadel to encompass the entire citadel area of the city. A huge, incandescent blue wave rushes under the footbridge as if some huge creatures were moving underneath it. Appa stands on the oasis, but he is dwarfed by the creature that rises from the pool, the citadel, and the city visible beyond it.

The blue, white veined creature is a huge fish like being. At its center is a blue white bubble, and there is Aang, who spreads his arms wide. A moment later, the Ocean Spirit, for this is truly he in communion with the Avatar, duplicates the motion. The Fire Nation soldiers who stand in front of the last wall, who back away in fear, start to run back to their ships. The Ocean Spirit towers over the citadel, its arms still spread wide, its blue spirit lighting the city like a beacon. The Spirit begins to move down into the city. Master Pakku and his waterbenders instantly bow to the floor in honor of their god. Across the canal, some Fire Nation soldiers raise their spears in defiance but are swept away by a wall of water sent by the Ocean Spirit. Aang inside the body of the Ocean Spirit, flailing his arms about, directing the power of the Ocean Spirit against the violators of the Moon Spirit and the Water Tribe City.

The Moon Spirit looks down at the Moon Warriors and motions for them to follow it to the ocean. Fire Nation tanks fire blasts of fire at the Ocean Spirit, but they are absorbed with no effect. The soldiers and tanks are washed away as if they were toys. The Ocean Spirit passes by the Water Tribe citizens who make obeisance to their lord. The Fire Nation army in full retreat, trying desperately to escape the vengeance of a living Spirit. The Ocean Spirit reaches the main canal in front of the third wall and melts into it.

The Moon Warriors and the Moon Spirit make it to the ocean. Yanna, on her serpent take down Fire Nation ships while the Moon Spirit pushes the rest of them back. The Moon Spirit looks at the pushed backed ships and dissipates back into the water. The Spirit lifts out the water and puts Aang back on the wall, causing him to fall to his knees. The Spirit then goes back into the water and spirals around, lifting Yanna into the air.

"YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CRIMES YOU COMMITTED TODAY! FIRE LORD OZAI WILL FALL TO HIS KNEES AND PAY FOR THE WORLD'S DESTRUCTION! LEAVE AND NEVER RETURN!" Yanna said assertively. The spirit placed Yanna back on the serpent and vanished back into the water.

 -Time Skip-

Yanna's pov

I watched the Northern Water Tribe and my Warriors starting to rebuild the structure of the city. I looked at Arnook and grabbed his hand. He looked down at me with sad eyes while i gave him a sympathetic smile. He looked back up to the Moon and said, "The Spirits gave me a vision when Yue was born. I saw... a beautiful, brave young woman... Become the Moon Spirit." He Closes his eyes and signs deeply, "I knew this day would come." He said, doeful

"You must be proud." I said. He smiled, and quietly said, "So proud. And sad."

I looked at Aang, Katara, and Sokka, hugging beside their bison. My heart wanted me to go talk to them, but I don't know what I would say. It's been years since I've spoken to them, I was a little girl the last time I spoke to them, I'm 18 now. I felt Arnook looking down at me, and he smiled, grabbing my hand. He turned back to the people and began to speak. "Great People Of The Water Tribe, we just fought the greatest fight our people have ever encountered, I would like to thank THE GREAT MOON AND OCEAN SPIRITS FOR GUIDING US AND FOR GIVING US STRENGTH TO WIN THIS BATTLE! But most importantly, I would like to thank the Avatar and thank the people who we thought were legends. PLEASE EVERYONE BOW BEFORE THE MOON WARRIORS WHO SHOWED INCREDIBLE STRENGTH AND POWER, MAY IMIQ CONTINUE TO BLESS US!"

I watched everyone bow before me before my Warriors. I felt joy and pride in my heart, that I had done my people proud, that I've done my father proud. Arnook nudged me to speak, and I walked down the steps in front of the people, and in front of Sokka and Katara.

"I am Yanna, the Moon Warriors' leader and the daughter of Tarak and Myra. I was chosen by our previous Avatar, Imiq. At a young age, I had no idea I had so much power and responsibility at the time. My father would often tell me that I was destined for greatness, but I never knew what he meant. Every day, we would train, and I had no idea he was preparing me for who I was meant to be.

The day the Fire Nation arrived at the South Pole was the darkest day of my life. It was the day I lost my father. I had to abandon my friends and fully isolate myself from the rest of the world in order to become powerful enough to protect both the south and north poles.

I've questioned whether I was giving my all mentally, physically, and emotionally. I felt like a failure every day, until one day I realized I couldn't feel sorry for myself anymore. My people were counting on me. Every day, I trained and fought hard. There were days when I stumbled, but I always got back up. Because that is what a leader does—they do not give up when things get difficult.

When life knocks you down, you get back up and keep pushing until you can't anymore, and even then, you try again." I felt tears brim my eyes as I raised my fist to my chest.

"I am proud to be a member of the Water Tribe, a Moon Warrior, and most importantly, I am proud of the Avatar for returning to us. And I'd want to thank my fellow brother and sister, Sokka and Katara, for bringing him to us. As long as there is air flowing through my lungs, there isn't a challenge or fight I'm not willing to face," I said, raising my fist in the air. "MAY THE GREAT SPIRITS KEEP SHINING ON US!"

Everyone raised their fists and chanted. I looked at Katara, who was crying, and Sokka, who was smiling slightly. I approached them while standing in front of them. My chest felt heavy as I opened my mouth to say something, but it wouldn't come out. Katara then grabbed my hands and pulled me into a hug, causing me to sob, then I felt Sokka wrap his arms around me and Katara, too. "I missed you, Yan." Katara said. I kissed her cheek and said, "I've missed you more, Tara."

The next night may end with you two rolling around making out doing everything short of the devil’s tango

It’s no secret that Zuko has a thing for you to the point that you have an open invite into the palace and your own wing outfitted in water tribe trimmings and furniture to make you more comfortable

You love going to visit him there because you are literally treated like a queen. The best food, the best clothes, the best care, the best accomadations. Not to mention the jewelry and clothes the fire lord sends you home with at the end of your visit

You’ve told Zuko before, but that sweet, naive, trusting dolt swears up and down that Mai is one of his most trusted friends and allies and that can’t be true

Of course water tribe women ain’t no bitches, and you had to take matters into your own hands

You confront Mai straight up, and, since fire nation women also have no chill, she straight up let’s you know:

A Relationship w/ Fire Lord Zuko Would Include...

I see you've got an eye for the Fire Lord, aye? I don't blame you- who doesn't love emotionally scarred, touch-starved men? I'll be doing Fire Lord Zuko for this one since it wasn't specified for pre or post coronation, so I hope that's okay!

Warnings: fem! black/poc! reader, vague mention of past abuse

Zuko may have been in a relation ship once with Mai, but to be quite honest the reason that relationship didn't work out was because both were takers. Both wanted something the other couldn't give, which resulted in fighting, doubts, distrust, and eventually separation.

Therefore, it would, be best for Zuko to have someone that understands he can't just give himself competely to someone, regardless of how much he wants to, because he wasn't build like that (Wow look at that the demiromantic hc came out).

Zuko would have had to known you for some time before feelings started to blossom. And even then he'd deny them, constantly trying to convince himself that you were just a friend to him and nothing more.

However, its those moments when you show him how understanding and accepting you are that he can't kid himself anymore about what he feels in his heart.

Once he's ready to let himself be loved, oh boy, you're in for a ride.

He's super attentive of you, remembers what you like and dislike, remembers topics of conversations to bring back up later on, and always considers your opinion on situations.

At the beginning he's a bit awkward, especially with physical touch. He's almost always blushing because it's a new experience for him, and he's not sure what to do that won't make you upset or embarrass him.

He's not the best with physical affection, and we all know why.

You'll have to take the lead for a bit in this aspect, but once he's out of that nervous shell, he'll be the one to initiate it. Always in private though, he doesn't think he can handle being so close to you around people. He might just burst.

In this sense, if it's not simple hand holding than PDA is off the table.

Won't admit he's a cuddlebug, but he definitely is. Sleeping with you brings him so much comfort, and he feels safe and secure in your arms. Will definitely be the kind of person to pull you closer to him if he feels you moving away, or while when it's time to get up for the day.

Depending on his love language, Zuko would either give you small trinkets, take you on walks in the garden, or just pull you into an enveloping hug when you're alone. He might even try to write you something, and although he's embarrassed, he wants you to understand the raw emotions he has for you even if they're a jumbled mess on paper. They'd be even worse coming out of his mouth, so writing them down was his only option.

If you bed him enough, he might let you take a ride on his dragon. And if he sees how much you enjoy it, he'll make it little once a month date kind of thing

Zuko's self conscious of his scar, but will allow you to see it, touch it, kiss it, because it's the most vulnerable part of himself that he wants to share with you.

People pity him for it, even now, and so to know that you see it as a part of himself that's made him a better person, it makes him extremely happy.

If you run your hands though his hair, he'll definitely fall asleep on you. And he won't be sorry about it. He fucking loves it and has no shame in asking for you to do it for him after a stressful day.

As much of a reputation Zuko has to hold up as Fire Lord, he'll turn into the softest puppy for you. And he won't let anyone talk down on your name. Let someone challenge your honor, and he's gonna turn super scary super quick.

He won't abuse his power as Fire Lord, but one look i to those eyes and whoever spoke bad about you will scatter like roaches he also has other personal to take care of the situation oop-

The Gaang all love you, and often make jokes about how you agreed to date him. Sokka teases Zuko about how much he loves you, but at some point Zuko just ignores the watertribe boy. Partially because it's annoying having to say the same thing over and over again, partially because Sokka's not entirely wrong when he says Zuko's head over heels for you.

The one thing Zuko asks of you is to be honest with him. Call him out on his bullshit, hold him accountable, treat him like the adult he wants to be. You're his backbone, someone who he can rely on, who he comes to when he needs support. And as much as you and support him and love him, Zuko wants you to be real with him to. He can't be a proper ruler with people sugarcoating things for him.

He may be scarred, but he's still a person who deserves love and he's glad to have you be his lover.

I feel like I didn't do justice for Zuko. Honestly he's such a complex character that it's hard for me to articulate for him. Then again, it's his complexity that makes me love him as well. I hope this fits what you wanted, lovely!

""Mmmhm, dude, why do you have to be so warm~" you hummed, nuzzling your face into Zukos neck.

"Why are you always so cold?" He mumblesld back, voice still drowsy. Zuko was the pure image of beauty sleep. black hair pulled into a messy bun, eyes only half open as he spoke.

"Hey! I am the perfect temperature." You slapped his chest, well, actually more of a hit.

"Dude, that hurt-" Zuko laughed, smiling down at your figure, tucked into the covers with him. His arm wrapped around your waist. A cozy morning in together.

"You think I'm not the perfect temperature?" You drew your head away from his skin, propping yourself up on the pillow beneath you, giving him a small, playful glare. "Would you rather sleep by yourself?"

"Well, there would be a lot more space...and no one to kick me in the middle of the night-" Zuko bit down on his bottom lip, trying, but failing, to hide his stupid grin. Which faded fast as you picked up your pillow, and with a small 'whoosh' hit his face with the soft object.

"That's what you get for not saying I'm perfect!" You laughed, grasping the pillow tightly to your body. The way zuko was eyeing you, it was clear that you'd definitely need the pillow as close as possible.

"I never said you weren't perfect. You are. Buuuut...you're too cold." Swiftly, Zulu grabbed his own pillow, hurling it at your face. You blocked the attack with your own 'sheild' but wasn't quick enough to grab his weapon from him.

"We shall see about that."

"Come on, sweetie," Zuko pleaded, using his best 'sad puppy' impression. He did look really cute, but behind him, a pan was smoking. From what? You didn't exactly know, and you didn't care to have any more of that going on.

"Not gonna work with me, Ko." You replied swiftly, taking the spatula away from him. "You know you're no good with pancakes, and this is the only flour we have left, so we really can't risk burning all of our food, and the house down."

"You're so dramatic." Zuko rolled his eyes, backing away from the stove with his oven mit glad hands in the air, surrendering.

"And where did I get that from?" You pursued your lips, shooting Zuko a playful look.

Zuko came up behind you, wrapping his thin arms around your waist, placing his head on your shoulder, strands of his hair falling onto his face, brushing against your cheek. "Is this okay?"

"Of course."

"L, if for the way you look at me~" you sang, swaying your hips to the soft song. Coffee cup in one hand, you sipped at your drink as you danced to the radio. Zuko smiled from the couch, cradling his own cup of tea, staring at you though tired eyes, but with love, nonetheless. He admired how you could treat a baggy sleep shirt as the fanciest ballgown. Confidence dropping from every step you took. He loved that about you, more than he would admit.

"Join me?" You motioned for him to join, reaching out for his pale hand. But he simply rolled his eyes, giving you a stupid excuse. You huffed, tucking a stray hair from your messy hairdo into the rest of the bunch.

"You know I can't dance" He shrugged, leaning back further in his comfortable position.

"Neither can I, but I can sure fake it." You set down you mug, letting zuko take one last sip before he set his own down, and then grabbed your hand, letting you lead him to the center of the room. "See? Isn't that nicer?"

You lead his hand to your waist, keeping your other hand intertwined with his. Swaying softly to the beat of the music. Zuko hummed along to the tune, occasionally softly singing a word or two.

Seeing him like this...so comfortable, so happy and content with his life. With you. It was as if you had caught a star, shining in the palm of your hands. Incredible.

"You're so pretty," you smiled up at Zuko, grasping his hand just a bit tighter, tracing tiny patterns along his pale knuckles.

"Oh...thank you." Even after all this time, he still found it hard to accept a compliment. He always blushed, looked down or to the side. Sometimes ran a hair through his hair and muttered something under his breath. But this time, he looked at you, his his shining eyes. "I'm really lucky to have you. I...really don't know what I'd do without you, ya know?"

"Plus, you're really beautiful." Zuko moved his hand to your lower back, drawing circles there. You smiled softly. He really was a catch.

"Oh, I know." You hummed. "But, I like it when you say it."
