the importance of club culture

On the 21st was the annual London dyk3 March - a sort of alternative pride fest to the big corporate one, more politically inclined, etc. I had SO much fucking fun. Genuinely one of the best days of the year.

After, there was an afterparty at a club - it was 30º all day and SWEATY.

The club has such a strong history for us queer people - for so long it has been the only safe space, the first places many of us dress up and look the way we want to, the only place where you won't get stared at (or maybe only the good kind) and in the rise of purity culture and the loss of nightlife I REFUSE to lose how important of a space the club scene is for me and for us.

Techno music all night until 5am. Dancing, drinking, chatting with randoms, stolen cigarettes, digital camera photos. To be shirtless and wearing very little and knowing that I am entirely safe. Dancing with strangers I can trust. Sweating nearly to DEATH in a hot ass industrial unit. Lasers and light shows. Walking out as the sun is rising and falling asleep on the tube. I love the club. I love the club 4 EVER !!!! The way my quality of life skyrocketed when I found clubs with people like me and the music that gets me MOVING. Get dancing! Movement is therapy

unconventional makeup is so much fun

in my previous blogpost i mentioned briefly about wearing a lot of glitter and how much i love it (would recommend to any gender + any expression honestly), but tonight i tried something new

i've been wanting to try blue for a long long time - and i've especially been inspired lately as i noticed the drop off of drugstores selling blue makeup - which is linked to the rise in conservativism btw sorry im #woke i have to talk about it - and with the loss of colour, especially those coined as tacky (i.e bright blue eyeshadow) i thought i should give it a go :)

my options were limited but i'm so glad i finally have some blue mascara, because look how fucking cool this is??

the iridescent nails and blue eye makeup makes me think of the futuristic aesthetics of the 2000s and what we thought fashion would look like...

being a butch lesbian who wasn't in the past, i used to love makeup so so much. never conventional, always weird shapes and drawings, glitter all over my face, weird coloured highlighter, bright shiny colours, and despite butch being the right thing for me - i feel so much more at home in my body and my community now - there is femininity that i miss so deeply and unconventional makeup was such a huge part of me for so many years, so it is something i will be bringing back into my life :,)

Album Spotlight - The Con: Tegan & Sara

I have always known of Tegan and Sara - kinda impossible to be a lesbian and not know about them - but I had never really listened to them. The other week I found a CD second hand for a couple quid and decided to give it a go

This album came out in 2007 and you can really hear it. It's the muted, sad-girl, bedroom indie pop we all need more of I think. My favourite track on it is probably "Are you ten years ago" which centres on the younger versions of ourselves and how time is not quite linear - everything is happening all the time. "nineteen" is SUCH a good song, so emo indie rock.

I think it has such a nice sound without the overly cheesy pop-girl vibes generally associated with the time and I would really recommend. It's very dancey, quite acoustic but with a solid beat. There's no songs I feel like skipping and I listen to it start to end every time. it makes me want to pick up piano again and record a cover (honestly I kind of envy the way they looked when this came out lol :p)

i see a lot of 2000s nostalgia, y2k aesthetic, romanticising and WISHING we could go back to it - why can't everyone start dressing like this again? oh i wish i was able to experience the early internet...imaging carrying around an mp3 player and wired headphones! emo older brother aesthetic, minecraft on the PS3 or Xbox 360, CD collections and discmans, sparkly clothes and leopard print, clubbing and dancing to 00s music, living unplugged until you're home again - ugh i wish it could still be that way ://

you can't wait for other people to want to do things - you have to learn to be content with yourself and your own desires and fight the insecurity that makes you want to assimilate.

i cancelled my streaming services this year, and i have an mp3 player that i carry around with me. i'm reparing my childhood iPod classic. i've deleted social media from my phone and i'm starting to only use it on my computer (this is a really important thing that i would recommend everyone tries), my digital camera is from 2005 and takes the cutest photos (attached some from my uni days lol, despite their appearance these are all 2021/22!) and i have so many CDs and records now its a problem

if you want the world to be a certain way you have to be willing to make it so - so get on ebay and buy a shitty graphic vest top from 03' and wear it proudly :p

The photo attached to this post is from my camera tonight, isn't she pretty? This camera went missing several years ago and I finally decided to replace it off of ebay after finding a crazy deal. I used to take photos of the moon all the time...

I am not a practising pagan or witch, at least not anymore, but the moon means a great deal to me spiritually and I think it always will. The only one that has been with me for my entire life, every heartbreak and loss and redirection, and who has never judged, only listened. As someone who suffers with endo and pmdd that occasionally results in really dangerous psychosis, I grew to resent the moon for a little while. Watching it wax and wane and knowing with certainty that it was counting down to my next crisis made me choose to stop looking. But she's still there. I'm glad that she is. I find peace in and relate a lot to werewolves, lycanthropy metaphors, etc. (go figure, my name is w0lf) and I love everything it represents - yes, the pain, the fear, the monster...but also the lust, the hunger, the sensation. It's a balance, and the moon always keeps orbiting.

On that note, if anyone has any recommendations for werewolf media - books, movies, music - that are not particularly man focused and delve into themes of sex and the body and queerness - please please please send them my way Enjoy these photos :)
