which admittedly sounded pretentious as fuck but I'm just so angry that so few people know about the academic advancements during the golden age of Islam.

Islamic doctors were washing their hands and equipment when Europeans were still shoving dirty ass hands into bullet wounds. ancient Indians were describing tiny organisms worsening illness that could travel from person to person before Greece and Rome even started theorizing that some illnesses could be transmitted

also, not related to germ theory, but during the golden age of Islam, they developed an early version of surgery on the cornea. as in the fucking eye. and they were successful

and what have white people contributed exactly?

please go research the golden age of Islamic academia. so many of us wouldn't be alive today if not for their discoveries

people ask sometimes how I can be proud to be Muslim. this is just one of many reasons

So, im teaching my kid how to lie to their dad.

Geezus mother fuckers.

Theyre a late night reader like i was. Hes all about them getting a full nights rest. The two are not compatible, as you can imagine.

So ive been coaching the kid on how to read at night without your parents knowing. Told the spawn that so long as theyre being wise and stealthy i wont say anything. But if their dad catches them, game over i am enforcing the punishment/consequences.

My reasoning behind this is:

A. Youre only a kid once and this is the peak time for shenanigans. After all, they are in middle school. Thats when you start shenanegining.

B. Theyre adhd and autistic. They are reclaiming their time at night same as their dad and i do. We are a fully neurodivergent household.

C. Id rather this be their rebellion than something else. You give them a safe rebellion and they get the itch scratched 9/10 times. Okay maybe 7-8/10, but still, very preferable margins.

D. This kinda folds into point B. again: this is their time truly to themselves and they get to discover who they are with nothing but a book and their mind about them in the utter silence of the night. This is where personal philosophy is planted, where it sits and starts to germinate for kids like that.

My mom let me do the same thing, funny enough. It was how i survived that house. Hopefully this isnt some toxic shit im passing on

Personally i like to get graph paper and just doodle squares and lines. If it becomes something okay? But usually its just a stimming deal where i just fill a page with lines. It helps me process brain things. Its like the more likes i make the more it unravels the tangled web of stress

im so serious about this but if youre autistic and especially if youre chronically ill creative labour cannot be your only way to relax. working on a creative project is still working. take time to do nothing. its good for you i promise.

So my partner bought 8lbs of LEGOS from Goodwill for 35$, cuz apparently you can bid on random lpts of legos on goodwills website

(same with NERF, fyi. He discovered THAT during the pandemic. Turned our whole garage into a NERF arena and his brother was one of our pod att so they had blacklight NERF battles during that)

Anyways, out of that box there came a chewed on but still cute mini-minifigure NINJA. Id not seen a mini mini fig irl before.

I am now obsessed with this lil dude. LOOK AT HIM.

My kids kitten is getting minor eye surgery today to fix loose skin around it from an infection. (The loose skin means her lid turns in on itself and her lashes are constantly scratching and irritating her cornea. Shes 11mo. and barely plays now, so its needed.)

Because of this she cant eat dinner last night or breakfast this morning. Baby girl is NOT happy.

Whats shocked me tho is my partners cat. Hes 2 and has been harassing me to get her food all morning. Hes even tried to trick me into moving his bowl to an area that she can reach. Its really kinda sweet how he keeps checking in with her and then wjen she clearly is fussy about being hungry hes increasingly coming at me like a mad older brother.

Hes now just confused at this unfair treatment of them, since from the beginning i especially have given them equal attention since he had jealousy and insecurity issues when we got her.

Its gonna be interesting when she gets back home afterwards.

Horrible fantasy idea:

Every time the royal firstborn happens to be twins, the dispute of which one is the one who is the rightful heir to the throne is settled by division of labour: One of them is to become the future queen/king, and the other one is to become the royal jester. One can do whatever they want but must be very careful with what they say, the other can say whatever they want but must be very careful with what they do.

It is not exactly uncommon for the two to fight over which one gets to be the jester. But in the occasion when they agree to take turns on which one sits on the throne and which one at the foot of it (in disguise of course), it's considered polite to at least pretend to not notice the ruse.

She came out of surgery well and is waking up. I have to go get her in a couple of hours. Her brother is going stir crazy in his own way, lots of glaring and tail flicking.

When i got home after dropping her off he was doing meow talk. Hes really good at like, meowing words? So long as they arent difficult. So i got a barrage of "NOW! Her! Here! NOOOW!!" and "NO! NO HER OUT! HER HERE!" Trying to heard me to the door to go out and get her. Hes a large ass cat and insistent. Not as big as Mister, geez no. But just as... try to trip you if hes mad. Im like 80% sure he knows what hes doing. At least now i know how he feels about her. Its always hard to tell with him.

Im so fucking tired of being fat. But my job is so exhausting i barely have energy to do anything after except keep myself and my kid alive.

And im not tired of being fat in a "oh i hate how i look" kind of way. Thats fine. I think i look good.

Im tired of being fat because MY SKIN IS TOUCHING MY SKIN OH MY GOD MAKE IT STOP its sensory hell.

Then to top ot all off, the clothing industry sucks. Nothing fits or sits right on anything and is constricting in THE WRONG WAY. and im forced to wear leggings.

I hate leggings. Theyre like thick tights and i hate putting them on and off. But its not like i can wear jeans. IVE TRIED. they dont fit the way i need them too. So... Boa constrictor pants. Which, is okay i guess. They hold my hips together.

But, most importantly... MY SKIN IS TOUCHING MY OTHER SKIN AND ITS SCREAMING AT ME.
