It’s not “slander” for people to rightly point out that it looks nothing like who it’s supposed to apparently be. “Slander” means making up lies about a person to ruin their life or reputation, not pointing out the truth about them. If that white question mark wasn’t on it and you showed it to a casual Batman viewer to ask them to guess who it is, I guarantee no one’s first response would be “that’s Riddler”.
Did Matt Reeves or whoever designs the costumes not look at this Riddler design from Arkham Knight? Not only is this from a game that’s as dark as the new movie (if not darker) and thus still fits with the tone, it also works for the realism route the movie is going for. By the same token, this look maintains recognizability. Anyone can look at this design and they will know this is Riddler right away unlike the Zodiac killer rip-off outfit. Let’s also not forget Riddler is a complete narcissist who craves attention, which is the opposite of a person who hides behind a mask.
slander for riddler's design in the new movie will not be tolerated 🗡️

While I am planning on seeing “The Batman”, what the fuck is up with the look of the “Riddler” in this movie? Yes, putting his name in quotes is intentional, because it doesn’t look like the Riddler.
I get that the movie is going for a more realistic take on Batman (as much as can be done) and they don’t want to redo the normal Riddler costume worn in Batman Forever by Jim Carrey since that clearly doesn’t translate to the big screen very well. But they went the complete wrong way about it, as this does not look like Riddler in the slightest. They only added the one big question mark because otherwise a casual viewer wouldn’t know who the fuck this is.
Tumblr media
Now here we have the design of the Riddler’s look from the game “Batman: Arkham Knight”. It looks less goofy than the comic and original movie Riddler and was used in the darker setting of the game, because it worked with the tone. Not only does this look more realistic, it’s also designed in such a way that anyone looking at it can still tell this is supposed to be Riddler. Show this to even the most casual Batman fans who have an idea of who Batman and his rogues are, and they’ll know this to be the Riddler.
That is a perfect template for what Matt Reeves could have done and it wouldn’t have hurt the movie in any way. I imagine this look would take even less time to put together than that rip-off Zodiac killer outfit.

Invincible Appreciation Week - Crossover 2
For my second entry for the Invincible Appreciation Week, I decided I was going to use both of the two Death Battles I wrote involving characters from Invincible to submit on the day the Crossover category would be published. I wrote these battles as part of a DB fan group I am in, and Death Battles count as crossovers anyway, so I figured why not use what I already did?
Those who have watched the official Death Battle series on YouTube will be familiar with the format: The pre-fight prelude, the backstories and analyses of both combatants, the fight itself, and the post-fight analysis which explains the reasoning behind the outcome.
To save on space here, I posted the backstories separately but kept the pre-fight prelude, the fight itself and the post-battle analysis on this post:
Grand Regent Thragg backstory: https://xxseekritsxx.tumblr.com/post/653563745989246976/invincible-appreciation-week-crossover-2-grand
General Zod backstory: https://xxseekritsxx.tumblr.com/post/653565355087773696/invincible-appreciation-week-crossover-2
With all that out of the way, here is the match: Grand Regent Thragg (Invincible) vs General Zod (DC Comics)
Tumblr media
WARNING: Below the cut in the post-battle analysis section are spoilers from the Invincible comics in regards to Thragg since the animated series has not introduced the character yet. This is the ONLY warning anyone who reads this is getting.
Pre-Fight Prelude:
Tyrants: They come in all forms and can be from any walk of life. They crave absolute power and will do anything to get it such as political corruption and manipulation/propaganda, bribe their way to the top, or in most cases use brute force. Couple that last part with the possession of superpowers, and you have a recipe for disaster such as with these two powerhouses of alien despots:Like Grand Regent Thragg, ruler of the Viltrumite Empire. And General Zod, the conqueror from planet Krypton.
Battle:
The combatants are set. It’s time for a DEATH BATTLE!
***
Location: Thragg’s throne room, planet Viltrum
An alarm was going off in Thragg’s palace. A guard ran into the throne room. “What is going on?” Thragg asked him in annoyance. “My liege, something is approaching Viltrum at a high velocity. It’s headed this way,” the guard answered before Zod burst through the ceiling above and landed on his feet on the throne room floor, cracking it upon touching down. The guard flew towards the intruder in an attempted attack, only for Zod to grab the guy by the neck with one hand and break it.
“Who do you think you are?” Thragg asked. “I am your new lord and master. Now get off that chair and kneel before Zod!” Thragg curled his hands into fists, standing at his full height and towering over the intruder standing across from him. “I am the Emperor of Viltrum! I don’t kneel before anyone!” Thragg snarled. “Then you will meet the only fitting fate for defiance,” Zod replied with a grimace.
FIGHT!
Thragg and Zod flew towards each other at high speeds, clashing their fists in a collision which created a shockwave powerful enough to further crack the floor as well as the walls surrounding the two of them. Thragg delivered another punch followed by a strong side kick which knocked Zod backwards. The Kryptonian recovered mid-flight and flew forward again to tackle Thragg through the nearest wall. Zod held onto Thragg and pushed him through several towering buildings. Thragg loosened himself from Zod’s grip and struck the Kryptonian with a powerful uppercut punch that sent him hurtling upwards.
Wiping the blood from his nose, Zod reoriented himself. Flying back down, Zod struck Thragg hard enough to send him flying back before speedily flying behind the Viltrumite to knock him to the street with a double hammer punch. Thragg crashed on the ground below, creating a massive crater on impact. Standing back up and taking flight again, Thragg flew to dodge a blast of heat vision from Zod. The two collided in the sky again, with Thragg pressing both his hands against Zod’s head.
Zod unleashed a strong blast of heat vision towards Thragg’s face. While the heat did cause some slight burn damage to the Viltrumite, it wasn’t enough to break Thragg’s grip. Zod headbutt Thragg to shake him off before flying higher up into the planet’s atmosphere. As the two flew away from Viltrum and into deep space, they continued trading strong blows with each other. While Thragg was the more experienced combatant, he had to admit to himself that his opponent was well-trained in his own right.
Getting Thragg into a hold again, Zod exhaled a heavy gale of cold. The Viltrumite was soon frozen in solid ice. This didn’t last long, however, as Thragg quickly broke free. They kept going back and forth with all their might until the two super powerful beings ended up flying near Viltrum’s yellow sun. Thragg dodged an incoming punch from Zod before hitting the Kryptonian hard enough to launch him into the sun.
After Zod fell into the surface of the sun, Thragg didn’t see him come out after a few seconds. That would teach the foolish outsider who thought he could just barge into Thragg’s palace and challenge him. As he was about to make his way back to Viltrum, Thragg felt a punch take him by surprise and send him careening. Recovering, Thragg turned around and saw-to his shock-Zod, not only still alive but unscathed by the sun. “What? How is this possible?” Thragg asked angrily.
Zod’s eyes were glowing orange as he smirked. “What are you?” Thragg asked. “I...am...Zod!” the Kryptonian snarled before speedily charging towards Thragg with a heavy punch, which had more force in it than any hit Zod threw at him in their fight so far. Was the sun making him stronger? Thragg blocked a few punches from Zod before the Kryptonian sped away from him.
Thragg looked around, picking up speed himself as he flew to try and find Zod. Flying back towards the sun, Thragg couldn’t see Zod anywhere. Where was he? Thragg soon got his answer as Zod tackled him again, taking him on a direct course towards the sun. Zod held Thragg’s neck in his right hand, submerging him into the sun’s surface.
Thragg tried knocking Zod away, but it wasn’t going to be enough because Zod kept his grip tight until Thragg was eventually reduced to ashes. Flying back to Viltrum, Zod entered Thragg’s throne room through the hole in the roof he entered through earlier. He then stepped towards the throne, taking a seat on it for himself.
KO!
Post-Battle Analysis:
Now that is what you call a fight between two super tyrants. Both combatants are highly-trained warriors with a lot of military experience. While Thragg clocks in at around 1000 years old and has more overall experience than Zod does, that doesn’t mean the Kryptonian was going to be easy pickings for him. Zod has taken on enemies twice his size and regularly fights more powerful enemies than Thragg such as Superman.
Zod had multiple advantages which allowed him to win against the Viltrumite emperor. For one, Zod has several powers which Thragg has no answers for such as his super breath and heat vision, enhanced hearing (which would have made it impossible for Thragg to try any stealth tactics), and is likely faster than Thragg as well. Then comes their durability, which is where Zod outclasses Thragg. In the Invincible comics, Thragg died in his final fight against Mark Grayson when both combatants tumbled into a sun, with Thragg burning to ashes and Mark barely making it out of that ordeal alive and horribly burnt. Given how Superman is able to fly inside the Earth’s own yellow sun, it’s safe to say Zod is more than capable of surviving a dip inside one due to his Kryptonian physiology. This also provided another advantage to Zod in the form of additional power due to the extra solar radiation he absorbed before finishing the fight.
The winner is General Zod.

Since a new Loki trailer was released on 4/5, I figured it would be important to share or re-share this image with MCU fans. For those who have not seen this, here we have Sophia Di Martino dressed in what is clearly a similar outfit to Loki’s own and she is confirmed as part of the cast for the series. This suggests she is playing Lady Loki, who is one of likely multiple alternate counterparts that Loki will encounter of himself.
Why am I sharing this? In both trailers, we see shots in a background with purple lighting. Sitting in those scenes is Sophia Di Martino’s character who we see from the back. Due to the camera angle hiding her face, a group of MCU fans for some weird reason thought that it was Black Widow, of all people. Here’s why that misguided theory is wrong and incorrect:
1. Why, of all characters, would Black Widow appear in a series centered around Loki? Given that the show is about the Loki variant traveling to alternate timelines and divergent realities to fix the chaos he unintentionally caused and will encounter other versions of himself, there’s no room for Black Widow in such a storyline. She’s not anywhere near powerful enough to take on any version of Loki by herself and Loki doesn’t exactly need help when it comes to deception or trickery. Have people forgotten Loki’s title as “God of Mischief” and designation as the “trickster god”?
2. The last time Loki and Black Widow saw each other in both the main MCU timeline and the alternate one established in Endgame where this Loki comes from, it was during the Battle of New York. In case everyone forgot, Loki tried to kill Black Widow outright in both timelines since events in the MCU proceeded the same way until this Loki’s timeline diverged after the battle. Why would Natasha just randomly sit and have a conversation with someone who tried to kill her not too long before? That makes no sense.
3. If you look at screenshots of this character from the back, you’ll notice a sword on her left hip. Black Widow has never been depicted using swords at any point in her MCU storyline or demonstrating any skill at using them. I doubt that fact will change in her solo film, so that point still stands.
There’s a shot in the trailer of what looks like a destroyed version of Asgard according to a theory going around, with the same purple lighting we saw in the shots of Lady Loki. While that is a theory, it certainly makes a lot more narrative sense than the idea Loki visiting Vormir for any reason. He’s not searching for the Infinity Stones. If the shots of Lady Loki are in the ruins of Asgard, then it’s possible that the Power Stone caused whatever happened since the hallway shot shows the same purple cracks we have seen whenever the Power Stone is used.
If that’s the case, Lady Loki is probably the only survivor of Asgard’s destruction but she stays, possibly suggesting it’s either her own fault or she tried to stop whoever else actually caused Asgard’s destruction and failed, blaming herself either way. This is the kind of thing she would discuss with the Loki of this show, and perhaps it would cause this Loki to take a look at all he’s done up to this point in his life and question his own actions so he doesn’t end up causing the same outcome as his female counterpart.

Invincible Appreciation Week - Crossover - Battle Beast Backstory
As I specify in my upcoming Death Battle fanfic featuring Battle Beast from “Invincible” going up against the Champion of the Universe from Marvel, I am making separate posts that will be linked to the story itself, which contain the backstories and powers/abilities of both fighters involved. For this post, I will be discussing Battle Beast.
Tumblr media
WARNING: Spoilers below the cut for the Invincible comics and Battle Beast’s backstory/future since the animated adaptation has not delved into either yet for the character! This is the ONLY spoiler warning I will give.
Name: Thokk
Alias: Battle Beast; Scourge of the Twin Galaxies
Home Planet: Unknown
Species: Unidentified feline species
Height: 7’6”
Weight: 776 lbs.
Age: Unknown (possibly many millennia)
-Bio:
Born under the name Thokk on an unknown planet in the dark reaches of space, the warrior who would become known as Battle Beast came to prominence in a time of danger for his world. His home planet came under siege by forces that threatened to destroy his people. According to a prophecy, this warrior would be stronger and more powerful than the rest of his kind and would save them in their time of need. Once he emerged on the battlefield during this time of war, Battle Beast became his planet’s primary protector and something of a guardian of his kind. It is unknown how long it took him to achieve victory for his people, but it is commonly known among his species that his sacrifice and bravery resulted in his people creating a peaceful utopian society.
While the rest of his people were able to live in peace, Battle Beast was left feeling empty and couldn’t enjoy it to the same degree as they did. At some point during his efforts saving his world in the war, Battle Beast developed an addiction for violence and love of fighting, seen by his people as a curse. Growing bored of living on a peaceful world where he couldn’t fight, Battle Beast left his planet to embark on a life of conquest and battle. For the next several thousands of years, this would be how he spent his time.
One day, Battle Beast was contacted by an unidentified party who would inform him of a contract put out by a crime lord on Earth known as Machine Head. Promised the possibility of a good fight, Battle Beast was summoned along with multiple Earth-based supervillains to fight against Invincible, Titan and the new Guardians of the Globe. After nearly killing Invincible, Battle Beast grew bored of the battle due to how easy it was for him to take the heroes down, and then withdrew from the battle.
Battle Beast would later resurface during a prison riot on an alien world. Joining forces temporarily with Allen the Alien and Omni Man, Battle Beast assisted in rescuing Omni Man and got a chance to kill an unnamed Viltrumite (a member of Omni Man’s race) during the riot.
Battle Beast would come back again to take part in the Viltrumite War at the behest of the Coalition of Planets. After a skirmish on Viltrum, Battle Beast would sustain some injuries. Recovering not long after and defeating a regime on an alien world, Battle Beast was informed of the location of Grand Regent Thragg, ruler of the Viltrumite Empire, and was told to kill the despotic alien. Accepting this mission, Battle Beast finds Thragg on planet Thraxa.
Battle Beast goes into the battle against Thragg, and what follows is a brutal and bloody fight. However, in spite of his great power and strength, the Viltrumite ruler was too powerful even for him. Battle Beast died at the end of the fight, finally facing the worthy opponent he always wanted and dying a glorious death in battle.
-Powers and abilities:
Battle Beast is undoubtedly one of the most powerful characters in the Invincible franchise. His strength is such that he was able to easily defeat Invincible, defeated Black Samson and Bulletproof simultaneously, and has enough strength in his legs to leap large distances in one bound. He is able to take on multiple Viltrumites at once and has even shown the ability to kill one. Before dying at the hands of Thragg, Battle Beast held his own considerably well against the Viltrumite ruler.
Battle Beast has superhuman reflexes and endurance. His fangs are capable of piercing human and superhuman skin, even able to get in a bite against Thragg during their battle. Battle Beast is quite fast for a being his size, and his body tissue is much denser than the average human. His stamina is such that he has shown himself to be capable of fighting for days on end without showing any fatigue.
When it comes to his equipment, Battle Beast is skilled in the use of swords, axes, maces and other melee weapons.

Invincible Appreciation Week - Crossover 2 - Grand Regent Thragg backstory
As I specify in my upcoming Death Battle fanfic featuring Grand Regent Thragg from “Invincible” going up against the General Zod from DC, I am making separate posts that will be linked to the story itself, which contain the backstories and powers/abilities of both fighters involved. For this post, I will be discussing Thragg.
Tumblr media
WARNING: Spoilers below the cut for the Invincible comics and Thragg’s backstory/future since the animated adaptation has not yet officially introduced the character! This is the ONLY spoiler warning I will give.
Name: Thragg
Height: 6’10
Weight: 400 lbs.
Species: Viltrumite
Home planet: Viltrum
First appearance: “Invincible” no. 11 (April 2004)
-Bio:
Born thousands of years ago on planet Viltrum as the son of one of Emperor Argall’s closest advisors, Thragg was trained in all manner of combat and bred to be the strongest Viltrumite. Thragg fought in the civil war on Viltrum, which originally began as the result of the actions of a member of their kind named Thaedus (who would go on to form the Coalition of Planets). Thaedus rebelled against the world-conquering ways of his people and assassinated the previous emperor, Argall. By the time the civil war was done, Thragg took his new position of Grand Regent. Tasked with finding the missing heir of Argall, Thragg kept his predecessor’s skull as a reminder of what would happen if the Viltrum Empire ever fell into disarray.
Then came another problem for Viltrum and its people, in the form of the deadly Scourge Virus. This viral infection was developed by Thaedus and spread to infect 99.9% of the Viltrumite population, reducing their number to less than 50. Those who did not die from the Scourge Virus had their strength and invulnerability greatly diminished. With the population severely depleted due to the virus, this led to Thragg assuming Argall’s heir was dead. Thragg ceased all efforts to locate them, believing he had earned his position as the new ruler of his people.
Fast-forward thousands of years to the present day, Thragg sent his right-hand man Conquest (the second-strongest Viltrumite) to Earth to check on the progress of Nolan AKA Omni Man’s mission. When Conquest failed to kill Mark Grayson AKA Invincible, he begged Thragg for forgiveness. Initially contemplating executing Conquest, he relented because Conquest was still useful to him. Thragg ordered Conquest, Lucan and a third warrior to kill Invincible and anyone aiding him.
After receiving word from a spy that the Coalition of Planets were headquartered on planet Talescria, Thragg tasked his agent with taking down the barrier protecting the planet. Speaking to the skull of Argall, Thragg vowed to avenge him by killing Thaedus. During the Battle of Talescria, Thragg retreats after Mark and Oliver Grayson (Omni Man’s other son) destroy his warship. He considers rushing into the battle to fight back, but then decides against it before retreating to Viltrum. When the Coalition follows them, Thragg leads the Viltrumite charge, attacking Space Racer before engaging in a fight against Invincible.
Mark lands a blow on Thragg, but it does little to damage him. Smacking Mark away, Oliver attempts to attack Thragg, only for the Viltrumite emperor to catch Oliver’s punch and dismember his arm. Mark attacks again, now more enraged than before, but even this just gives Thragg a nosebleed. Mocking Mark and stating the young hero was in over his head and boasting that he’s stronger than Conquest was, Mark revealed he killed Conquest prior to his and Thragg’s fight and that Thragg would be next to die by his hand.
Thaedus, Mark and Nolan then proceed to destroy Viltrum. Becoming enraged and upset, Thragg angrily proclaimed that Thaedus destroyed Viltrumite heritage, history, and the planet itself. Despite being offered a chance to surrender, Thragg refused before decapitating Thaedus, declaring Argall as avenged. Thragg continues his fight with Invincible and Omni Man, revealing to the latter that Thaedus killed Argall, but Nolan retorted claiming the Viltrumites deserved extinction for their crimes. Continuing the fight with Nolan, Thragg tosses aside Battle Beast and tries to take Mark and Nolan out. Thragg soon impales Nolan after attempting another death blow against Mark, but then decides to spare the two, stating the Empire needs all Viltrumites. Thragg’s subordinate General Kregg attempts to kill the two anyway but Thragg forces him to back down. The Viltrumites soon retreat in their warship.
Later on after Mark and Nolan get back to Earth, Thragg reveals that he and the rest of the Viltrumites were there as well. Mark attempts to fight Thragg again, but instead he suggests to Mark that they talk. Thragg decides to surrender but on one condition: the Viltrumites take over Earth. Mark loses his temper but Thragg goes into detail about the takeover method: The Viltrumites will hide among humans and interbreed with them to replenish their ranks. Thragg then goes on to say that his people will not interfere with human events and that human/Viltrumite hybrids like Mark himself are the closest biologically to pure-blooded members of their species. After Mark reluctantly accepted these terms, Thragg leaves after thanking Mark for allowing the survival of their people, ending the Viltrumite War.
Sometime following the end of the Viltrumite War, Thragg finds Mark battling against Oliver Grayson and Allen the Alien in space. Thragg reveals to Oliver and Allen that he is aware of the latter’s plan to dispense the Scourge Virus on Earth and asks why he shouldn’t kill them both then and there. Allen threatens to use it against Thragg himself, but the Viltrumite ruler boasts he would kill Allen before he could get a chance. Thragg offers a truce to Allen and Oliver, explaining that fighting him would be pointless because killing Allen would just put both the Viltrumite Empire and the Coalition of Planets back at war again. Allen reluctantly accepts Thragg’s truce much to Oliver’s anger.
The meeting is then interrupted by the Guardians of the Globe attempting to capture Mark. Monster Girl attempts to fight Thragg, but he knocks her aside and nearly kills her. During the chaos, Oliver absconds with the Scourge Virus dispenser. The fight stops with the superhero Bulletproof wondering who Thragg is. Then it’s revealed Mark got infected with the virus and Thragg takes him into Viltrumite quarantine. Thragg reveals his agreement with Mark to GDA director Cecil Stedman and that they have no choice in the matter.
Appearing to the Guardians of the Globe and Dinosaurus, who convinced Thragg his genius would be useful to the Viltrumite emperor, he demanded the Guardians leave while Dinosaurus and the Viltrumite scientists worked on saving Mark from the virus. At this point, Thragg is informed of a truth that threatened his claim to the throne: Nolan and Mark were the son and grandson, respectively, of Thragg’s predecessor Argall. Furious to learn that Argall’s lineage survived, Thragg killed the scientist who broke the news to him in retaliation and left to go to his quarters. Interrupted by Dinosaurus hacking and gaining access to his quarters, Thragg leaves and then crosses paths with Mark again. Not wanting to give up his title of Grand Regent, Thragg attacks Mark.
Dinosaurus tried to intervene, only to break his claws in his attempted surprise attack. Dinosaurus later attempted to bite Thragg, only to shatter his teeth. Escaping after tossing aside Dinosaurus and directing Atom Eve to his location, and multiple events of reprimanding some subordinates for developing attachments to Earth and some humans, Thragg later found Nolan and Debbie on Earth’s moon. Attacking Nolan on sight, Thragg reveals Nolan’s connection to Argall. Nolan refuses to fight, but Thragg severely injures Nolan and is about to kill him before their battle is interrupted by Anissa, Lucan, Kregg and Thula. When the four warriors learn Nolan is Argall’s son, they turn against Thragg and attempt to kill him until Nolan orders them not to. Following the battle, Thragg demanded Nolan kill him if the latter feared him. Nolan refuses once again and decides he will change the brutal ways of his people instead before subsequently sentencing Thragg into exile.
Now occupying planet Thraxa for his exile sentence due to his extremely long lifespan, Thragg would spend his time impregnating multiple Thraxan females to produce Viltrumite/Thraxan hybrids. Knowing the Coalition of Planets would eventually send someone to kill him, it was at this time when Battle Beast arrived to challenge Thragg. As previously mentioned in the biography of Battle Beast for my previous matchup, Thragg fought and ultimately killed Battle Beast in a brutal and bloody fight that lasted for several days. Succumbing to the injuries he sustained during the fight (including disembowelment at the hands of an alien beast before the fight and getting his left eye severely damaged due to Battle Beast biting his head at one point), Thragg loses consciousness. The Thraxans soon transported Thragg off the planet, many Thraxan warriors and women traveling with him. Getting his left eye and gashed-open head patched up, Thragg had Battle Beast’s hide made into a new cape for him to wear. Thragg went on the run with the Thraxans and the many children he had with them, roaming the cosmos to avoid Coalition detection. Space Racer later finds him, and Thragg kills several Coalition agents and attempts to kill Space Racer.
Five years later after Mark recovered from his coma, Thragg has rebuilt the ranks of the Viltrum Empire and all of his children have reached adolescence. Making a move against Telescria, he orders his daughter Ursaal to attack a major building on the planet. Breaking up a skirmish between Ursaal and her brother Onann, Thragg orders both of them to kill Mark Grayson. After this, Oliver calls Thragg and asks to meet him in person. Thragg calls Oliver again to inform him about locating Mark and his family, threatening to kill him against Oliver’s wishes.
Grabbing Oliver’s niece Terra (Mark and Atom Eve’s daughter), Oliver intervenes to give her a chance to escape. However, the battle does not last long as Thragg quickly subdues Oliver. Mark holds Onann hostage and asks that Thragg let Oliver go. Thragg kills Oliver and Mark soon kills Onann before attacking Thragg directly. The battle ends with Thragg ripping Mark in half before he escapes and leaves Mark and Eve for dead.
However, due to Atom Eve’s molecular manipulation powers activating after the battle, the damage she and Mark sustained was repaired. Mark was also made slightly stronger by Eve restoring his body. Following this, Thragg fought Nolan one last time and fatally wounded him, with Nolan dying later from his injuries. Before Nolan passed away, Mark and Thragg clashed for the last time in space while in orbit of a sun. Both Viltrumites suffered severe burns from touching the sun and being knocked against and into it, but Mark Grayson-the true heir of the Viltrum Empire-ultimately won as Thragg disintegrated into ashes, bringing the usurper’s millennia-long tyrannical reign to an end.
-Powers and abilities:
Grand Regent Thragg was the strongest character in the Invincible franchise. As with all beings of Viltrumite heritage, Thragg possesses incredible superhuman strength, speed, reflexes and durability as well as the ability to fly. While power levels vary between members of his species, Thragg is without a doubt the most powerful Viltrumite who ever lived. He is trained in many forms of combat and is a skilled strategist.
Throughout his appearances in the comics, Thragg has taken on some of the toughest beings in his universe. He has shown himself to be capable of taking on multiple less powerful Viltrumites at once, he killed Battle Beast in a one-on-one fight and has proven himself to be more than a match for both Omni Man and Invincible simultaneously, showing that his power alone outshines both of theirs put together. With his strength, he was able to rip both Omni Man and Invincible in half (though the latter did survive thanks to Atom Eve putting him back together and making him stronger afterwards). He easily decapitated Thaedus and fatally wounded Omni Man. He has shown himself to be capable of surviving in the vacuum of space like anyone else among his kind.
Thragg has shown himself to be tough enough to survive disembowelment at the hands of the animals known as the Rognarrs, which are specifically bred to be able to tear apart Viltrumites, prior to fighting Battle Beast. He survived damage to his left eye and receiving a gash in his head-both of which were the result of Battle Beast biting him in their battle. But for all his incredible power, even Thragg had his limits. During the final battle against Mark Grayson, he and Thragg fought near a sun. Both combatants received severe burns on contact with the sun’s surface, but unlike Mark who was able to survive long enough and had help to escape, Thragg did not and ended up disintegrating into ashes.

“Eleanor would become the MCU's first evil mother”? Really, Screen Rant?
So I suppose we’re just going to keep pretending the other evil mother figures listed below don’t exist then?
Mariah Stokes/Dillard/Black Mariah from “Luke Cage”
Alisa Jones from “Jessica Jones”
Jiaying from “Agents of SHIELD”
General Hale from “Agents of SHIELD”
Leslie Dean, Tina Minoru, Stacey Yorkes, Janet Stein, Catherine Wilder and Alice Hernandez from “Runaways”
All those characters were mothers and were evil to some degree. But sure, let’s encourage your readers to keep buying into the bullshit lie that the MCU shows created prior to Disney+ are “not canon”, a lie that’s been getting peddled for the last 5 and a half years since Civil War came out. Real fans know that those shows are still part of it.

Battle Beast (Invincible) vs Champion of the Universe (Marvel) - Death Battle
Pre-Fight Prelude:
Everyone has a different reason to fight. Some fight for causes such as patriotism, justice, revenge, money, power, and plenty of other reasons. But then there are also those who fight just because they enjoy it and love a good battle or two more than anything else in life, willing to take on anyone who comes their way. Or they are so powerful that they search for that one worthy opponent who can actually challenge them. Which is certainly representative of these two spacefaring warriors:
Like Battle Beast, the ferocious feline fighter from Invincible.
And the Champion of the Universe from Marvel Comics.
Battle:
The combatants are set. It’s time for a DEATH BATTLE!
***
Location: Battle Beast’s home planet
Battle Beast was busy getting in some training with his weapons, holding his sword and mace in hand, until a light flashed in front of him. When the light cleared, Battle Beast was staring at some skinny humanoid male with purple skin, pointy ears and a pair of glasses. The alien was wearing a purple and blue bowler hat, a purple bodysuit with blue leggings, and he was holding a cane in his left hand despite levitating in the air. “Greetings, Battle Beast! I am Proja, the Promoter Supreme!” the alien said. “What do you want?” Battle Beast asked. “I have come from beyond the farthest star-to make you a once-in-an-eon offer,” Proja replied.
“I have heard many tales of your extraordinary battle prowess, so I offer you a fight truly worthy of your skills,” Proja said. “Let’s see if your offer is as good as you claim. Tell me who I’m going to face,” Battle Beast replied. “None other than the Champion of the Universe,” Proja replied before teleporting himself and the Battle Beast.
The two ended up elsewhere on the planet, where an improvised boxing ring-like arena was set up and surrounded on the outside by a force field. Looking across from him, Battle Beast saw his opponent. “This is the one, Proja?” the Champion asked the purple-skinned promoter. “Yes, master. He’s the strongest of these felines I could find,” Proja answered. “Very well then. If you win, I leave. If you lose, I will destroy your planet. Now show me what you’ve got!” the Champion exclaimed as Proja teleported himself outside the force field and gave a hand gesture signifying to begin.
FIGHT!
Battle Beast leaped forward to strike with his massive sword, but the Champion sidestepped the attack, so the sword got stuck in the ring floor. Before Battle Beast could pull his sword out of the floor, the Champion kicked the spot where the blade connected to the handle, breaking the weapon and shattering the blade to pieces. Growling and tossing the handle aside, Battle Beast swung forward with his mace. The Champion held up his arms to block the first hit, but Battle Beast was able to sneak in a quick one against the Champion’s face, leaving some slight bruising and a small cut. Battle Beast tried to follow up with another swing, but the Champion ducked to avoid it before charging forward to deliver four quick punches followed by an uppercut which sent Battle Beast flying backwards before the latter fell hard onto his back.
Proja began counting down from ten. Battle Beast got up by the time Proja got to four and was ready to attack again, but Proja rang the bells of the ring using a small device in his right hand. “And that is all 3 minutes for round 1! First round goes to the Champion for the higher punch count!” Proja exclaimed as both fighters walked back to where they started in the ring. Battle Beast had to admit, his opponent was doing quite well against him. But, he reminded himself, that was only the first round.
“Round two! Go!” Proja called. The Champion and Battle Beast charged towards each other, with the latter attempting another swing of his mace. However, the Champion caught the mace in one hand and pulled back to yank it out of Battle Beast’s grip before proceeding to crush the weapon to pieces. Now with hand-to-hand as his only option, Battle Beast ducked and weaved to dodge the Champion’s next few punches before retaliating with a powerful kick towards his opponent’s ribs, a cracking sound being made in response. Battle Beast caught the next punch in one hand and proceeded to do an over-the-shoulder throw, heaving the Champion towards the force field surrounding the ring, causing it to briefly vibrate on impact.
The Champion attempted to get back to his feet, but Battle Beast jumped forward with a leaping claw attack. The Champion leaned back just in time to barely avoid a scratch from his opponent’s claws. Battle Beast hit the Champion with a few quick jabs and crosses. This lasted until the Champion did a double block with both his arms to block Battle Beast’s next two attacks before head-butting his furry opponent. The Champion followed this up with a powerful push kick to Battle Beast’s gut, which knocked him backwards.
“That is time up for round two! This round goes to Battle Beast! Both combatants are currently tied!” Proja shouted. “You’re better than I expected, animal,” the Champion said to Battle Beast. “But that won’t guarantee a victory for you.” Battle Beast clenched his fangs in a snarl. “We shall see about that, old man,” he retorted.
“Round three! Commence!” Proja shouted. The Champion jumped forward and punched the floor of the ring with enough force to create a shockwave which slightly staggered Battle Beast. The white-furred warrior attempted a tackle, but the Champion caught him mid-jump and threw him backwards in a suplex. Before Battle Beast could get up, the Champion was sitting on top of him and holding him down with one hand before proceeding to punch him several times with the other one. The strength of the Champion’s blows were causing the ring floor to continue cracking and cracking.
Battle Beast tried blocking a few of the Champion’s punches, even catching one with his hand and proceeding to bite his opponent’s hand. The Champion growled in pain and then opened his hand inside Battle Beast’s mouth, grabbing the latter’s lower jaw from inside and pulling back hard to rip it off. Battle Beast attempted another punch in retaliation, but the Champion grabbed his arm with both hands and twisted it backwards. Not giving up, Battle Beast attempted multiple punches with his non-broken arm, but the Champion either dodged or blocked each one. Finally having enough, the Champion wrapped one hand around Battle Beast’s throat and put the other one on the upper half of his jaw before pulling both in opposite directions with extreme force.
The Champion stood back up, holding the head of Battle Beast in his left hand before tossing it aside. “And that concludes this exciting battle!” Proja declared as the Champion raised his hands in victory.
KO!
Post-Battle Analysis:
Damn! This was a hell of a fun match to do, and I certainly enjoyed pitting these two battle-hungry fighters against each other, and including Proja as the fun fight promoter/referee.
These two are among the strongest fighters of their respective universes, having taken on some of the toughest opponents their worlds had to offer. But Battle Beast was outclassed in every way by the Champion. The Champion is much stronger, tougher, and has far greater experience (billions of years over Battle Beast’s comparatively smaller thousands of years) than anyone Battle Beast has ever faced before. The strongest enemy Battle Beast ever fought against and ultimately lost to was Grand Regent Thragg of the Viltrumite Empire, a race of evil Saiyan-like warriors and conquerors, with Thragg clocking in at around 1000 years old. By contrast, the Champion has faced off against far more powerful beings than Thragg such as Galactus, and was even said to be greater in power than the World Devourer while Galactus was in a weakened state from hunger-and this was also at a time when the Champion was not in possession of the Power Gem.
Both combatants are tough enough to survive the destruction of entire planets, falling from orbit, and both have even been able to survive in the vacuum of space. But the Champion has shown even greater durability than anything Battle Beast has demonstrated at the time when the Champion and four other members of his fellow Elders of the Universe attempted to kill Galactus to obtain his power. In response, Galactus atomized the Champion and the other four Elders and consumed the energy that comprised their remains. However, even this did not kill the Champion, as he and his ‘brothers’ all regenerated while inside Galactus and started killing him from the inside before the five of them had to be forced back out by two higher cosmic beings. This ordeal was far worse than anything Battle Beast ever had to endure.
I should also mention that the Champion’s immortality is guaranteed to him due to the Grandmaster tricking Death eons ago into banishing him and all the other Elders including the Champion from her realm. Which means that even if Battle Beast could tear the Champion apart if he lasted enough rounds to do so, he has no way of actually being able to completely finish him off. Even if I had their battle drag out for days on end since both of these guys can keep going for long periods of time fighting without tiring, I don’t see any reason to believe that the Champion couldn’t outlast Battle Beast in a prolonged fight should it have arrived at that point.
The Champion of the Universe is the winner!

Invincible Appreciation Week - Crossover 2 - General Zod backstory
With the backstory and powers/abilities of Grand Regent Thragg out of the way, I will now cover the same information for his opponent: General Zod from DC Comics.
Tumblr media
All information on General Zod below the cut:
Name: Dru-Zod
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 215 lbs.
Species: Kryptonian
Home planet: Krypton
First appearance: “Adventure Comics” no. 283 (April 1961)
-Bio:
Much like how the members of the El family were staples to the Scientist guild of Krypton, the Zod family has had a long history with the Kryptonian Military. Generations ago, Dru-Zod’s ancestor and namesake, Admiral Dru-Zod, once led the Military Council long before the Kryptonian Science Council would come to rule, with Admiral Dru-Zod leading Krypton at a time when it controlled a large empire that spanned many galaxies. The Zod dynasty ended when Bav Sor-El’s Science Council was able to convince the people of Krypton of the immorality of the empire and remove Har-Zod and his Military Council from power through elections. The Kryptonian Navy would be dismantled, with the exception of Dru-Zod’s ship. The military was reduced to simply engaging in peacekeeping tasks on Krypton, and the Zods continued to serve.
Fast-forward centuries later to the months before the destruction of Krypton. Jor-El (Superman’s biological father) and his fellow scientist, mentor and friend Non discovered that the planet was doomed and would be destroyed in a matter of time. The word of two of the most respected scholars on Krypton was not enough to sway the Council, the only action they made in response being the declaration that Jor-El and Non were forbidden to discuss the subject ever again. Undeterred, Jor-El kept trying to convince the Council while Non spread the word of their findings with the people of Krypton. The Council considered Non’s actions to be rebellious and dispatched Dru-Zod to deal with him.
However, Zod was soon convinced of the truth by Non about the impending destruction of their planet. Zod’s most trusted lieutenant and lover Ursa also joined his cause. The council reacted to the insurrection by capturing Non in his sleep and lobotomizing him. Zod, Ursa and Non were soon arrested and sentenced to imprisonment in the alternate dimension known as the Phantom Zone at the request of Jor-El, who agreed to desist with his attempts to convince the council in return for his contemporaries receiving a sentence less harsh than execution. In response to the verdict, Zod declared the only way to save Krypton was for him to overthrow the stubborn Kryptonian Council and rule the planet instead. The escape attempt failed, but not before Zod successfully killed some members of the council. The verdict still stood since the judgement of the Kryptonian Council was final, and Jor-El sent Zod, Ursa and Non to the Phantom Zone. Zod regarded Jor-El as a coward, vowing to return to take control of Krypton and make Jor-El (and, one day, his son) kneel to him.
Fast-forward once more to the present day, when a boy crashed to Earth in a Kryptonian vessel not unlike Kal-El AKA Superman’s own origins. While Superman was relieved to see another survivor of Krypton, the new arrival was not so innocent: he was Lor-Zod, the son of Dru-Zod and Ursa, who had since become known as the most dangerous criminals in the Phantom Zone. The boy’s appearance on Earth triggered the release of Zod, Ursa and Non. Following their escape from the Phantom Zone, Zod and the others traveled to the Fortress of Solitude to obtain information from Jor-El’s records.
Heading to Metropolis, Zod decided he was going to engage in his plans to turn Earth into a New Krypton. While Ursa confronted Lois Lane to retrieve Lor, Zod and Non went to battle Superman. The two were able to overpower Kal-El and trap him in the Phantom Zone-a fitting punishment to Zod. The general then freed all the other criminals in the Phantom Zone, planning to remake Metropolis and Earth in Krypton’s image. With only a few fellow Kryptonians at his side, Zod defeated the Justice League and took control of Metropolis.
To Zod’s shock, his son Lor stepped in and attacked him while Zod was attempting to discipline Lois. Right after this, Kal-El was freed from the Phantom Zone by Lex Luthor and the Superman Revenge Squad, whom Superman teamed up with to defeat Zod and the other Phantom Zone escapees. As Superman and General Zod battled it out, Lex Luthor used Phantom Zone rockets to blast every being who came in contact with them-including Superman-back to the prison dimension. Lor willingly took Kal-El’s place by taking the shot for him and got pulled in, but so did Zod. As he disappeared, Zod hinted at something worse than him inside the Phantom Zone and threatened to unleash it next time he got out.
Zod planned to continue his vow to make the son of Jor-El kneel before him. Since then, General Zod has escaped from the Phantom Zone several times and clashed against Superman on multiple occasions. To this day, General Zod is considered one of the Man of Steel’s greatest enemies.
-Powers and abilities:
As with all the people from planet Krypton, General Zod possesses superpowers under the effects of a yellow sun. These powers include:
-Heat vision- Zod can consciously fire intense beams of heat at a target by looking at it. He can vary the heat and area affected.
-Super hearing- Zod’s hearing is sensitive enough to hear any sound at any volume or pitch. With the proper concentration, Zod can block out ambient noise to focus on a specific sound or frequency.
-Enhanced vision- Zod’s vision can process the entire electromagnetic spectrum as well as allow vast control over selective focus. This umbrella ability allows the following:
1. Electromagnetic spectrum vision- Zod can see well into most of the electromagnetic spectrum, which allows him to see radio and TV signals as well as other frequencies. He is able to avoid detection by radar or satellite monitoring methods this way, and can see the aura generated by living things.
2. Telescopic vision- Zod can see at greater distances than a human. Though this does have a limit, it isn’t defined and works similarly to the zoom function on a camera.
3. X-Ray vision- Zod can see through any volume of matter except for lead.
4. Microscopic vision- Zod can see extremely small objects and images down to the atomic level.
5. Infrared vision- Zod can see with better acuity in darkness and to a degree in total darkness.
-Flight- As is the case with all beings of Kryptonian descent, Zod is able to achieve flight.
-Invulnerability- Zod is nigh-invulnerable to damage and extreme energy forces. This protection extends to toxins and diseases. He is theoretically capable of withstanding the concussive force of a low-yield nuclear warhead.
-Superhuman stamina- Zod is able to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an indefinite amount of time. This is based on his body converting yellow solar radiation directly to energy but it is limited by physiological and psychological needs to eat, drink and sleep.
-Superhuman strength- As with all his people, Zod is extremely strong. While his exact limit is unknown, it is shown that Zod can lift in excess of 100 tons. With that being said, he isn’t as strong as Superman or Non.
-Superhuman speed- Zod is able to move at incredible speeds by sheer force of will. This extends to perceptions and has enabled him to pull off tricks such as catching bullets mid-flight and cover vast distances in little to no time.
-Super breath- Zod is able to create hurricane force winds by exhaling air from his lungs. With this ability, he is able to either blow opponents away or freeze them in place. He can also reverse this process to inhale large volumes of air or vapor into his lungs.
As a military officer, Zod is highly trained in hand-to-hand combat and has fought creatures twice his size using only his hands. Ever since childhood, he was trained to have an analytical mind, growing and raising small genetic animals. In one continuity, he used this knowledge to fool Krypton into a war by engineering a creature which resembled the members of a neighboring alien race and sending it out to attack his people. When he was a child, his parents were killed in the wilderness and Zod was able to survive on his own for a year before he was found by Jor-El and Zor-El. Zod is as trained with fists as he is with weapons; he has shown skills with a primitive bow and arrow, small arms as a soldier and various other weapons throughout his military career. Zod can also speak fluent Kryptonian and English.
In spite of his great power and incredible strength, General Zod is not invincible. He possesses the same weaknesses as anyone else from Krypton:
-Kryptonite (the green variety of which can slowly kill him over prolonged exposure)
-Magic
-Red solar radiation (which, while not deadly in itself, renders him powerless under its effects due to not providing enough solar radiation to absorb to use his powers)
