I wrote a post on Ko-fi last week, finally doing a better job of promoting the fact that I, uh, need an income to be able to do content creation without being constantly stressed out. In response, a few people pitched in and helped me cover my bills. Now, those are almost fully covered for the first quarter of the year!

So, what next? I've made another update post with the most recent info. I only have $5.03 left until my bills are taken care of, and then I can start focusing on some things to make my house more accessible/improve my quality of life.

“I can’t do this due to being disabled.”

- “Well I have the condition you said you have once / know someone with it, and I / they do that thing, so you’re lying.”

“A single disorder often affects different people differently. Also, that is just one of a dozen or so comorbid diagnoses I live with, most of which are considered subjectively more severe / relevant to my condition by my doctors and require much higher support. They exacerbate each other significantly.”

- “You can’t possibly have multiple disorders, you must be faking. Just pick a struggle.”

“I’ve been in treatment for over a decade. I see health professionals weekly. I can barely leave bed, and need multiple accessibility tools daily, which I have fought tooth and claw for. I am very sure that I am disabled. The struggles picked me.”

- “You’re stealing from taxpayers and a burden on your family. Stop faking, you’re stealing resources from actual disabled people.”

My name is Nexys, and I am queer and disabled. For years I have been striving to create the most tight-knit safe space (that's ACTUALLY safe) on the internet, using content creation as common ground. And we're really starting to take off!

But I need your help. Please reblog this post so that I may meet new people and make new friends! My community has been lifechanging, both to myself and to the people within it. I really feel like my Twitch, YouTube, and Discord communities have been making a difference in the lives of some of the most disadvantaged and marginalized people in the LGBT and neurodiverse communities.

We often play games like Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, and Pokémon, with the occasional challenges and other genres thrown in. Sometimes we even invite our chat to play the games with us! Requesting Aid! :(

It is with a very heavy heart that I am asking for donations again, I just barely covered my rent this month with the help of a friend, only to be told I need to pay another $50 to cover my roommate. She’s one of my best friends who began staying with me in my cramped studio apartment, after I begged her to so she wouldn’t be stuck sleeping in her car. I’m terrible at asking for help, but I’m currently on unemployment which will be ending in two months, and I have yet to find a job. I’m still going to be looking with all my free time, but things are still very tight for me in the meantime.

So though I know it’s tough for everyone, especially now around the holiday, I’m asking for anything anyone is able to spare to help out two disabled transfolk - but PLEASE make sure your needs are met first! I don’t want this post to be so long, but I also wanted to say if you don’t like giving money for nothing in return, I do stream video games on twitch from 4-10pm Est Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and hopefully the entertainment I provide could be enough. I also write a bit over on my writing blog @writing-by-lunalight, mainly fanfic type stuff, smut, and an original story I’ve been working on if that interests you at all.

I think something that's often fundamentally misunderstood is teens and young adults appearing to always be on their phones.

It's not necessarily laziness or whatever other negative trait it has been connected to. For many people it's a safe place. The one safe place they have. It's where you go to seek refuge from your natural environment. Especially for neurodivergents, queers, victims of abuse and bullying, and people with disabilities.

You make friends and build your own community, you make memories, you share art, you share life experiences with like-minded people that may be in similar situations and you feel understood. You feel accepted and not judged. You feel loved.

Real life is rough and can be painful but our smartphones offer a different door for us. A door that leads to fandom, to music, to art, to passion and refuge.

So yes of course you choose to spend a majority of your time on your smartphone. Of course you would choose to feel safe and loved. Of course.

It's dry of judgement, it's filled with the warmth of a community that accepts you as you are, it fills your tummy with joy, with thrill, with excitement and love and it provides a safe haven like a roof over your head.

Of course this is where you want to be.

It's home.

like I’ll see a video of someone without mobility aids / medical devices and the primal protector in my brain goes “oh no 😰 someone catch them before they fall 🤲”

then I remember that 84% of gen pop just rawdogs life like the omnipresent forces of gravity aren’t threatening them with a rusty grapefruit spoon at every microscopic movement of their limbs
