HOW TO GROUND YOURSELF ( ANXIETY COPING TECHNIQUE )
This is the 5-4-3-2-1 coping mechanism to help ground you and make you aware of your aurroundings and calm you down more if you are overwhelmed or in the midst of a mental attack of some sort.
Before performing this, start with deep breathing as the introduction to any coping skill. Breathe in for 5 seconds, hold the breath for 5 seconds, and breathe out for 5 seconds. Continue this process until your thoughts have slowed down.
After you are able to find your breath, go through these numbers in order from how I list them to completely ground yourself.
Here is how it works:
~ acknowledge FIVE things you see around you. (ex: I see my computer, I see my cat, I see the TV, I see a blanket, I see a pillow)
~ acknowledge FOUR things you feel. (ex: I feel the blanket on me, I feel my head on the pillow, I feel my pajamas on me, I feel the cool breeze in my room coming from the open window)
~ acknowledge THREE things you hear (ex: I hear the TV, I hear my breathing, I hear my heartbeat)
~ acknowledge TWO thigs you can smell (ex: I smell the scented candle in my room, I smell my small plant)
~ acknowledge ONE thing you can taste (ex: I can taste the soda I’m drinking)
Although these steps don’t make everything perfect overnight, it can still significantly help reduce symptoms of traumatic triggers, anxiety, etc.

Mental Self Care and Activities
- Avoid toxic people
- Learn not to feel selfish when saying ‘no’
- Read a book
- Take a nap without an alarm
- Engage yourself with using your hands in an activity. (ex: sewing, quilt, or crocheting)
- Rearrange your living space to something new so that you mind feels something different
- Find a new hobby or restart an old one
- Unplug from social media for an hour
- Declutter a room or a small area
- Make a specific music playlist based on how you’re feeling
- Change your routine in small ways
Of course, these are just some ways. These are just suggestions, you don’t HAVE to do them :)

SIGNS OF A TOXIC RELATIONSHIP
~ There is a lack of trust between you two
~ You are the only one putting in effort to continue the relationship
~ They are unreliable
~You don’t communicate as much as you did before
~ They don’t respect you or your feelings
HOW TO GET OVER AN EX
~ Block them - You don’t have to block them forever, but taking some time away and blocking contact with each other can help with the healing process. In this time, spend some times with people who care about you.
~ Spend time with others - To help distract your mind, spending time with friends and/or family is a good idea. Being around other people that care about you can help you feel better faster, and stop you from reminiscing the past.
~ Cry - It’s better to let go of some of the emotions rather than bottle it all up. Grab a box of tissues and let it out. You will feel much better when you’re done.
~ Talk to someone - Whether it’s a friend, parent, or adult, talking to someone is really helpful! They most likely have been through the same thing and understand what you are feeling. They could have good advice that could help you feel better.

~ drama; spill that tea sis ;)
~the casual “wyd”
~ clothes; maybe your favorite clothes or some fashion advice
~ school/jobs; ask about their tests, grades, plans for the future, etc
~ news; anything important you saw or heard
~ sports; ask them about their teams, school teams, or teams on tv
~ future plans; what you want to do, be, goals, etc
~ vacations; talk about ones they/you’ve had or want to go on. Maybe plan on what your future vacation would be like:)
~ freetime; what they do when they are bored, what their hobbies are, etc
~ music; their go-to playlist, favorite genre, top 3 songs, etc
~ movies; favorite movies, upcoming ones they want to see, etc
~ food; if they could only eat one food for the rest of their life what would it be, etc
~ television; favorite shows, shows they recommend, etc
~ pets; (if they have any) ask about their pet, a pet they want, etc
~ trends; what fashion trends they like/hate, etc
~ humor; tell dump pick-up lines, jokes riddles, dad jokes;), etc
~ phone apps; favorite apps, social media, apps you need to get/avoid, etc
~ youtube; ask about their favorite youtubers, and compare with yours, talk about funny videos, show them a video you saw, recommend something, etc
~ family/friends; ask about who they are, how they are, etc
~ hangouts; ask about hanging out and where
~ accomplishments; what they’ve succeded in, what they want to achieve, etc
~ love life; crushes, or how their relationship is going with their boyfriend/girlfriend
~ parties; ask about upcoming ones, or maybe plan one
~ shopping; what their favorites stores are
These are just a few ideas on how to kickstart a coversation. Usually after saying one of these, this will lead into a conversation about other things. Please let me know if there are other threads you would like to see in the future!

HOW TO SPOT A TOXIC FRIEND
Self Obsored:
~ They only care about themselves
~ Don’t ask you questions about how you are, what you’ve been up to, etc
~ Cut to talking about them
~ When you talk about yourself, they cut you off
Jealousy:
~ Normally tend to get jealous of your success
~ They don’t congratualte you for anything you do well in, or help you with goals you want to achieve
Using You:
~ They only talk to you when they don’t have anyone else or when their friends are gone
~ Talk to you to make it seem like they have more friends
~ Only talk to you when they need you/they’ll be all friendly when they ask you for something
Leave People Out:
~ They tend to exclude people often or only stick with their tiny group
~ They try to make you feel alone and make you feel like you have no friends
Playing The Victim:
~ When you try to confront them about how they’re acting and they turn it on you as if you did something wrong
~ They say things to make you feel bad or worse
Making You Feel Small/Bad:
~ If they’re constantly bringing you down, bettling you, insulting you, comparing you to others; then sis, you gotta CUT THEM OFF!

hihihi sorry I’ve been inactive, but school is REALLY being a pain lol. Which inspires todays post!
HOW TO STOP PROCRASTINATING
~ Complete the most important task first - especially if it is due that night, or the next day. Even if it takes a while, get the big part out of the way!
~ Give yourself an award if you can finish your task or homework in a certain amount of time - It is common that most people will work faster, and have a determined mindset knowing they will get something for their hard work.
~ Set a certain time or place to work in - Make some timers for when to start your first task, or the next one.
~ Try to stay off your phone - Although it can be quite hard for most, it is the biggest distraction. Other electronics apply too. (Unless you need your computer for your assignments, of course c:).
~ Avoid multitasking - If doing this, you could possibly switch to the other task, and lose focus on your main task.
~ Get a friend to help you - If you need help, ask for it! It’s better to understand it fully with someone’s help, rather than looking up the answer key.
