Sound therapy I don’t know about you but my sleep cycle has gone for a toss thanks to being stuck at home all day! How do I deal with it? Tibetan healing bowls 💓 I find it super effective! Just like music but to calm you down. I love the healing vibrations that run through my body. To me, it even changes the frequency of my room. So whenever I am depressed, stressed, restless or sad I just sit with my Tibetan healing bowl or put on some binaural beat tracks. It’s also a brilliant way to tune out all that thought chatter that I personally grapple with. Also you can literally relax at any time of the day with this experience. Best solution after my guided yoga meditation ;) So am sharing this with all my students today! If you don’t have a Tibetan healing bowl, don’t worry. There are plenty tracks available online that can be just as effective! I have a few go to, tried and tested ones for mood elevation and deep sleep. Use this time to shed all that made you feel burnt out and enjoy hitting that ‘refresh’ button Remember it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. So incase you were wondering where to start from, here are a few great first steps: Make a habit: -Wake up early -Eat clean -Smile at your reflection -Be mindful while you eat -Take the time to just sit by yourself and be grateful for ...Life as you know it! Break a habit: -Obsessing over social media and news -Criticism towards yourself -Abusive angry language to denote humour (it’s worsens pent up anger and negative energy) -Staying up past 11pm -Waking up to your phone! (Try waking up to a grateful thought, look out a window, drink a glass of water. Anything but reaching out for the phone to start checking msgs or worse, social media!) LONG POST 🚨 Strap in! It’s real Quarantine times. Quarantine that MIND! As you read this I was you to practice what you read as much as you can...Let’s try to just become a little more productive with all this time to ourselves and practice MINDFULNESS with ....a deep inhale...hold 1,2,3.....and a happy exhale...1,2,3,4,5,6! For the next few hours you are going to reduce/ stop scrolling through Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, New apps...and start scrolling through your mind! Go to the window, look up at the sky. Become aware of all the emotions that are pent up within you because of the situation you find yourself stuck in. And again...inhaleeeeeee.........exhaleeeeee The only purpose of this exercise is to bring you back to your present self, in this moment and recognise that you have been running away from yourself, running with posts, updates, what’s happening, statistics, articles about the current situation that have created a deep internal panic! As you breathe read these words out loud! nothing is out of control, I am free of stress. My good comes from everywhere & everyone All is well in my 🌍 world ...if you can just take a few minutes to experience your life in real time through breath, you’ll feel grounded again. Padhastasana aka standing forward bend pose. Best way to stretch out those hamstring and calf muscles and strengthen the knees and thighs. I do this when I have an overwhelming need to control everything in my life and mostly it’s causing immense stress....surrendering! The forward fold is a beautiful compression that relaxes the senses and evens out the heart rate. Tip: focus on keeping the knees and spine straight and lengthened while moving into the forward fold. It’s like a funky hug in my opinion. “Sometimes my body decides what to do on it’s own and I just listen” Often times when I am practicing and going through a structured flow of asanas that are appropriate I find my body suddenly getting into a posture that doesn’t really count as an asana or is a hybrid and cross movement between two or more poses. And the amount of relief I feel is just so astonishing. This picture is proof of one such instance. Looking back isn’t always a bad thing, especially when it humbles you and fills you up with gratitude. 2019 has been one such year in my life. There was loss, pain, failure, sickness and really rough times but I had my friends, family, my students who supported me through it all in so many ways! My partner has been so very solid and has held my hand through some really crappy lows. I’ve learnt so much about my past and my present in 2019. I’ve understood what Yoga really means this year and why I turned to it. For most part of my life I have felt lost and like a misfit in my own life and a part of that changed this year. Some really important realisations came to light! I also found my voice this year and I will be sharing some important things with all of you in good time and I need all your help with somethings as well! All in all 2019 has helped me shed a lot! Shed my insecurities, fear, limitations, anger and It’s made me value my life, my friends, certain connections, my work immensely! My life journey may seem inconsistent to many or even random but it’s far from that!!! So 2019 I am Grateful to you! 2020, I am devoted to you!
