Fanon likes to portray Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji as being jealous of each other because they fear wei wuxian will choose one of them over the other. Which is ignoring the fact that at least in novel canon Jiang Cheng did not even fucking know wangxian ever got along let alone that lwj was in love with wwx until at the very end of the story (in cql canon he does go through a wangxian phase early on and gets very confused by their "breakup" during wwx's sunshot era) and that Lan Wangji is mostly filled with loathing towards both himself and Jiang Cheng for 'abandoning' Wei Wuxian and not being able to save him.

It also ignores the much bigger point that both Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng are actually jealous of Wen Ning. And why wouldn't they be? That is who Wei Wuxian chose in his first life. He left the Jiang, told Lan Wangji to fuck off no he is not coming to gusu with you, and spent his days with his little-brother-shaped corpse bestie on his mountain in yiling. And then when he came back he immediately called him up the second he could string together more than two notes on a flute. Wen Ning is the real competition. (And he's winning)

I think part of the reason I’m so obsessed with MXTX’s works is the way that each story seems to hold you gently as say “Your kindness mattered. It didn’t alleviate the suffering, it did not undo the pain. But your kindness mattered.”

Kindness could not erase Luo Binghe’s abuse, but it changed the story into a kinder one.

Kindness did not stop Wei Wuxian’s death, but it did save a-Yuan.

Kindness did not undo Xie Lian’s suffering, but it renewed his sincerity to help others.

Kindness did not change the entire world, but it helped create a softer future.

Its such a nice message, that maybe kindness will not protect you, maybe you don’t see the outcome of it, but you should still try to be kind, and I love that honestly.

there are some people who unironically believe that no one except wei wuxian and lan wangji got their “happy ending” and the rest of the cast (consisting majorly of antagonists and characters who had previously suffered no consequences for their actions) getting any degree of miserable conclusions is unfair. to which i must wonder... do they realise that for thirteen years before the second timeline began in full swing, these positions were completely reversed and wei wuxian literally died and lan wangji was faced with the most brutal punishment a member of the great sects could be faced with? that we were given a taste of what a “happy ending” could look like for characters like jin guangyao, lan xichen, jiang cheng and the fact that it blew up in flames demonstrates exactly how no one deserves a bump-free aftermath if it means their actions have gone unaddressed.

if our protagonist and deuteragonist were not spared consequences—truly “no good deed goes unpunished”—what makes people think that the characters who were the antagonists and on the fringes and allowed atrocities to occur should get a scot-free end? mind you, i still think alot of people get a mere slap on the wrist for the magnitude of harm they have caused but that is consistent with the themes of the gentry class receiving leniency in every aspect possible.

look, i get wanting your favourite characters to have “good” endings but just think for a second about what these characters have done and why their finish line in the story looks the way it does. what would the weight of mdzs’ narrative remain if after all the rotten actions of people in power were exposed, all the wilful negligence was brought to light, these characters were allowed to go back to normalcy and immediately find a way to enjoy life as if nothing was amiss? as if their actions were meant only to affect other people and never their ownselves? and even then, the thing to remember is that mdzs’ ending is just one point in time. much like the “ending” of the first timeline, things go on, life goes on and characters like jiang cheng and lan xichen won’t stagnate till eternity—they will move past their circumstances shown in the end of the novels, for better or for worse.

it’s not that wei wuxian and lan wangji get to enjoy their happy ending while the rest suffer because in actuality, they have paid the prices for their actions threefold, they have faced their consequences and why should they not get some morsel of happiness after everything they have endured? as wei wuxian rightfully asked the sect leaders—what more would you want from him? why should he not be allowed this more pleasant conclusion because some think his happiness is a slight against the antagonists’ “misery” and feel compelled to have them flattened to the same level to ignore acknowledging why they received the endings that they did?

But then I had plans the next day and then got distracted reading a new comic I got. And yesterday, I got distracted reading fanfiction.

I am finally going to work on my fic again though, and hopefully my beta reader will be available to read it.

the dynamic between heinz doofenschmirtz and perry the platypus would probably come off as v romantic and gay if they were two people in a similar age range rather than a dude and a platypus. no i dont ship them but think about it. villainous monologues are already a very romantic and gay thing in itself (don’t question me on this you know im right). listening to somebody ramble excitedly about something they’re proud of is even more romantic and cute af. also doofensmirtz is already gay anyway. the only thing preventing this from becoming Peak Gay is the fact that perry is strictly professional and also a platypus. thanks for coming to my ted talk

Okay, so I may have to push the posting of the first chapter of my fic back a day.

I finally got myself to reread the first chapter and I just spent the last 5-or-so hours changing and editing the first 800 words of a (currently) 2900 word chapter. But now I'm getting too tired to think, so I am going to have to continue this tomorrow.

My Mozus Trein Headcanons

1.) Mozus Trein is the type of teacher who will stay after school for multiple hours, just to make sure his students get any help they need with their school work.

2.) He can tell the difference between a student being lazy by choice, and a student who appears 'lazy' because they have something else going on.

2.a.) For those students he is the first teacher to inquire if they are doing alright, and offer them assistance with school work.

2.b.) He is his neurodivergent students biggest advocate. He will always ensure they are getting the accommodations they need to be successful.

3.) With his belief that school is the most import thing for a student, he also believes the most important thing for a teacher is to teach their students. This leads to him being the first to help students with issues that are preventing them from being successful as they can.

3.a.) He said, "If you do find something else just as important, let me know. But only if you do." I interpret that as, "If something truly is as important to you as school should be, please inform me so we can discuss it and figure out how to work around it to ensure your schooling is not negatively affected.

4.) He doesn't get mad at his students for not understanding the school work, he will simply try to find a way he can teach them that they are receptive to. (Interpreted from his 'Exam: Lose' voice lines)

4.a.) He will then inform the other teachers about the students learning style, so that the student can receive the best education possible.

5.) He will not allow his students to be in harms way when they are around him. If something happens that could risk their safety, he will use himself as a shield if he has no other way.

Just got distracted again.

So you see, I was writing chapter 2 of my fanfic cause I don't feel like editing chapter 1 right now, and then I was thinking about a connection I had made in my head earlier with some of the characters relationships. And that caused me to think of a blurb that I either want to include in the main fic or as a side oneshot, and when I was writing that, I realised that I didn't have characters labeled as their grade/leadership position on my planning/ ideas doc.

So I had to go add those, but then I was like, "I wish these weren't so long." That made me think that I could make symbols meaning the different categories, but then I needed a key so that I would remember what each symbol means. So I had to make a key, but it was too big, so I had to change it three times.

Then, I had to choose the symbols, and I chose some I liked. Now that I planned the symbols I have to replace the words with the symbols, which took me another 5 minutes. But then I decided I didn't like the symbols because they were too similar and I wouldn't be able to tell them apart. So I had to replace them again.

But, now they looked weird in the parentheses so I had to remove the parentheses. Then I finally finished it. And then I spent 10 minutes recounting it here...

I really need to get back to writing chapter 2.
