If Regulus had left Grimmauld Place I don’t think it would have been with Sirius, or after a big fight

Let’s say Sirius left during that summer, Regulus stays. He stays because of his parents, he stays to protect Sirius, he stays because he feels he is a coward but he is doing something brave. Regulus gets the mark and feels trapped. So he disconnects from people once he gets back to school. He falls into depression and loses himself.

And then it’s Christmas break. He puts on a mask, going to parties, getting yelled at, death eater meetings, to still being abused. But after one party, on Christmas Day, he is laying in his bed staring at the ceiling, deep in thought. But the thoughts didn’t make him cry, or scream, or cast a silencing spell so he could decimate his room because of the pain he felt. No, instead they made him wonder why. Why he must go through the pain, why their parents needed an heir, why he really couldn’t get outside help, why he is letting a stupid tattoo decide the rest of his life.

So he leaves quietly. He packs his trunk in the middle of the night and sneaks out the front door. He goes home, back to his brother.

He has to deal with consequences of his actions, maybe he still goes to death eater meetings, to keep suspicions low. Maybe he has to threaten his parents with going to the court, because the Potters are powerful too.

I couldn’t tell you what he does, but he could. Because Regulus thought out every situation that night, and he came up with every solution.

I feel like we forget how tragic Bartys story actually was. First he has to deal with his dad, his shitty dad. The dad who was willing to lock him in Azkaban, his own son, without batting an eye. Then he goes to hogwarts and he find his people, his home. But they died, all of them died. His family, the only people he was ever truly loyal to. Gone. And he goes insane, he ends up spending 13 years in Azkaban alone. And then to top it off, he probably didn’t even know Pandora was dead until after he got out. I could imagine the thought of her being okay bringing him comfort, just to find out she died.

Then he helped bring Voldemort back from the dead, because he wasn’t a good person, no matter what way you turn it, he wasn’t. I did not say all this to excuse the terrible things he did. But rather just to lay out his life.

I absolutely ship a toxic bartylus, based around obsession and addiction and lust. The relationship is not healthy but Regulus and Barty keep needing each other

Then Barty gets with Evan

and Regulus finds James

But I headcannon that that history was always there

Give me a Barty who will hunt down hurt and kill for the people he loves

Give me a Barty who gets unhealthily obsessed with people

A Barty who, after Regulus died, cracked and used even more unforgivables, killed for fun, and tortured for sport

A Barty who heard Dorcas was killed and made it his personal mission to avenge her by any cruel means necessary

But when Evan died, a Barty who doesn’t even have rails to fly off of anymore. He kills anyone in his way, including death eaters, and he enjoys it. He is hardly on the death eaters side anymore but stays with them because of the pain they cause

And when he heard Pandora died, the sweet gentle soul of Pandora, he crumbled.

Marauders rated on kissing skill. Argue with the wall.

James: 8/10. He has full lips and knows how to use them but he gets excited sometimes and it gets messy

Remus: 9/10. He’s the Casanova for a reason. He was a natural for his first kiss with lily in 4th year and she made sure everyone knew

Sirius: 7/10. Pretends he knows what he’s doing but is in his head too much

Peter: 6/10. Very passive kisser. Extremely timid. Makes you wonder if he’s actually enjoying it but it’s not awful

Lily: 8/10. She check in with Marlene every few months to see if the score has improved. Platonically of course.

Mary: 8/10. Is extremely offended.

Marlene: 9/10. Tries to be humble and fails. “If you ever wanna practice…”

Dorcas: 8/10. Gets into it very quickly. She likes kissing for the sake of kissing. Plus her girlfriend is good at it.

Evan: 5/10 for his first kiss, has improved to an 8/10 with Bartys help. Similar to Peter but relaxes into it with time.

Barty: 10/10. Actually modest about it but everyone knows. Combination of natural talent and practice. Leaves your head spinning type of kiss. Loves biting

Regulus: 9/10. Barty was his first kiss and was a quick learner. Sirius hates this. James hates this. Evan hates this. Barty and Reg think it’s hilarious. Quiet confidence in his kissing, likes to take charge.

i headcanon that reg gets really bad panic attacks and sirius use to try and help him calm down but nothing ever worked except to wait it out, but when james and reg started dating james found a way that worked to calm him down. he would hold reg to his chest so he could feel his heartbeat while telling him over and over again how loved he is and how beautiful and smart and he would tell him all the things he loved about him and even could the freckles across his cheeks and tap each one as he counted.
