some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

It’s funny because the amount of compliments I get on my glasses is wild. (Tbf I have some from pair eye wear and get these cool toppers). But glasses are often times a fashion statement too.

Screw big optics. Have fun with wearing glasses. Glasses are cool.

can we talk about how literally 64% of people wear glasses, and yet we NEVER see them in movies/tv unless it's on some nerdy or uncool character? why do we adhere to such a weird beauty standard that subconsciously makes us feel bad for,, not being able to see???

Suo held his breath at the entrance, listening to the chimes. He should have left earlier and made time to pay his respects. Sometimes, things were unavoidable distractions from what he wanted to do. There would be time in the afternoon. Patrolling, perhaps, could get him detoured near the temple. 

Though he would rather give it to her alone. 

He would make sure to be busy tonight. Surely Nirei would understand that he had plans.

“Suo-san!” Speak of the devil. Nirei called from the door of Cafe Pothos. Running out the door, with a quick goodbye, he caught up and yanked on Suo’s arm. “We’re going to be late!” 

Lightly chuckling, Suo grinned smoothly and agreed, “Ah, yes.” The ribbon weighed in his pocket. 

“Do you practice? Did you want to stop and…” 

“You’re correct, Nirei,” Suo interjected kindly, “We don’t want to be late.” 

The choice was made for him. A tiny mew called from the rustle of leaves. Mochi would have to wait, too. Maybe he could find a can of tuna before he returned again.

Sakura scowled at Suo and Nirei just beating the bell. “Where were you two?” 

Bending to catch his breath, Nirei said, “Suo…” 

“We caught each other outside of Cafe Pothos.” Just saying the name of Kotoha’s cafe brought a flush to Sakura’s ears. “Did Umemiya change…” 

“Nah,” Sakura leaned back in his chair. “Would have preferred going with… anyone else honestly.” 

Suo softened. “We are needed all over Makochi. Not just where the big fights are. Ito-san bought flowers this morning from the market.” 

Wistfully, Nirei scribbled in his notebook. “What kind of flowers?” 

The ribbon in Suo’s pocket grew heavy. “Roses.” Black roses. Custom purchased by the market just for Ito if Suo overheard correctly.

Scribbling, not as furiously as usual, Nirei sighed. “That makes sense.”
