I think people really, really need to learn the difference between "this story was Poorly Written" and "I had extremely specific expectations of what I wanted this story to be and was extremely disappointed that it went in a different direction."

Similarly, people need to learn the difference between "this character was written Out-of-Character" and "I built up so many headcanons for this particular character that I wound up with my own extremely specific interpretation of them and was extremely disappointed when those headcanons were jossed."

You are allowed to experience disappointment when stories don't go in the direction you want them to! But that is not the same thing as those stories being poorly written.

You were lucky when it came to planning what to do for Penguin's birthday. There was a carnival in town so you and Penguin went along with Shachi and Bepo.

It wasn't a big carnival, but there were still a few rides and plenty of games.

Since there were so many games, it didn't take long for some friendly competition to start. The four of you decided to see who could win the most games throughout the day (which Bepo won).

Before you all decided to leave, you and Penguin split off from the group to ride the ferris wheel. It seemed a bit cliche, but there was still something romantic about a ferris wheel ride as the sun started to set. It was the perfect end to a great day.

Summary: What you and Shachi get up to for his birthday.

For Shachi's birthday, the day started with the two of you going out to lunch together. It wasn't often that the two of you got to go out as just the two of you. Normally Penguin and Bepo were with you, but they agreed to let you guys have some couple time.

However, after lunch, you two went to meet up with Penguin and Bepo at an arcade.

None of you were particularly good at any of the games, but it was still a lot of fun. It even got a bit competitive when it came to air hockey.

The four of you were there until you were able to try out every game.

Overall, it was a day full of a lot of fun and laughs which was just what Shachi wanted for his birthday.

Thatch is always the one doing the cooking so for his birthday you wanted to surprise him with breakfast.

You get up earlier than usual, being careful not to wake Thatch up as you got out of bed.

You weren't the best cook in the world, but you could manage eggs, bacon, and some toast.

Actually making the breakfast took longer than it should have because of a brief argument with Marco. He kept trying to take the bacon that you cooked.

Thankfully Thatch was still asleep when you got back to your room. However, once he smelled the food he started to wake up.

"What is all this?" He asked as he sat up in bed. "Birthday breakfast in bed," I said with a smile. I sat the tray down before joining him in bed again. "You really got up just to make me breakfast?" He asked. "I wanted to do something special for you," I said. "You always cook for everyone else. Thought you'd like it if someone cooked for you for a change." He leaned over and kissed me softly. "Thank you, baby," he said.

Sabo liked to have fun. He was also the type of person that liked to theorize how he would react in certain scenarios. So, as something fun to do for his birthday and a way to put him to the test, you take him to an escape room.

It was a good idea and he was excited about it, but the two of you having to solve puzzles together to escape a room turned out to be a bit stressful.

Sabo wouldn't admit it, but you were the more logical one between the two of you. He also had a bad habit of being impatient. You would be trying to solve a clue while he was trying to jump the gun and just find the way out.

Eventually, the two of you managed to figure it out.

Afterwards you both decide to go out for dinner and agree that another escape room probably isn't in your future.

OC x Canon Week 2025 Day 2: Intertwined Fingers

Summary: Venlynn and Gale sit by the fire and talk about why he's always holding her hand.

The only thing good that has come out of the tadpole situation is being reunited with Gale. It was a rocky reunion at first, but now that we were together, we were practically inseparable.

Gale always seemed to have his hand in mine. It made sense when we were adventuring to keep us from getting separated, but even now as we relaxed by the fire at camp, his fingers were intertwined with mine.

"Everything alright, darling?" Gale asked.

"Hm?" His voice pulled me out of my thoughts, making me realize I had been staring at our hands.

"You seem lost in thought," he said.

"I suppose I was," I said. "I was just thinking... you always seem to be holding my hand or touching me in some way."

"Oh, does it bother you?" He asked.

"No, it's just an observation," I said.

"Well, you do have a penchant to wander off," he said, clearly trying to tease me.

"Very funny," I said.

"In all seriousness, do you know why I do it?" He asked.

"Because you like me so much," I said.

"That's part of it, but the real reason is because I was foolish and let you slip away once. I have a lot of time, and a lot of touches to make up for," he said.

I chuckled slightly.

"I can definitely get behind that," I said.

OC x Canon Week 2025 Day 1: Kiss in the rain/snow

Pairing: Kento Nanami x Liliana Kamo (OC)

Summary: Liliana and Kento go for a walk in the snow to get some coffee.

Kento and I had been cooped up inside working all day. It was his idea to go out for coffee, my idea to walk despite the cold. The cafe wasn't far and both of us could use the chance to stretch our legs.

The cafe wasn't crowded, so we didn't have to wait long to get our coffee. We got it to go and started the walk back to the school. We had just walked back outside when it started to snow. I was never a fan of the cold, but I loved the snow that sometimes came with it. Kento knew that so we took a detour through a nearby park to watch the snow slowly start to cover the trees.

As we walked I noticed he kept glancing at me out of the corner of my eye.

"See something you like?" I asked. The teasing tone of my voice was undeniable as we came to a stop to fully face each other.

"I always do when I look at you," he said. He used his free hand to brush my bangs out of my face. "You look beautiful with snow in your hair."

"You're biased," I said.

"I'm allowed to be," he said before leaning down and pressing a kiss to my lips.

"Keep kissing me like that and you can be as biased as you want," I said.

That got a chuckle out of him.

"I'll keep that in mind, but let's get back to the school before we freeze," he said.

"It's not that cold," I protested.

"You're shivering," he said.

"Touché," I said. "Alright, let's head back."

a/n: I'm a few days late on this but let's ignore that.

Smoker was a fairly busy man. Even though it was his birthday he still had to work and didn't know when he'd be home. Despite that, you still wanted to do something with him to celebrate.

You both decided to get up earlier than normal to go to a local cafe for coffee and breakfast. It wasn't fancy, but it fit the two of you. Plus, it was nice just getting to spend some quality time together.

Since it was so early in the morning, the cafe wasn't too busy yet. You two sit at a table by one of the front windows and talk while watching the morning rush start outside.

It was a peaceful start to the day and a great way to set the tone for his birthday. The two of you make a mental note to try and do this more often.
