A message for the occult community, as it pertains to practitioners with conditions that can distort the perception of reality — from psychotic disorders, to personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, dissociative disorders, trauma disorders, the autism spectrum, and so many others that can make trusting ourselves difficult at times.
There is a stigma everywhere, including in spiritual circles. There are also uneducated or malicious individuals that can exploit our conditions, or ostracize us.
These disorders do not discredit us. We are not subhuman. We are not unintelligent, weak, nor are we gifted, blessed, or touched by the divine — our conditions and divergencies do not determine our worth.
Our treatment plans, whatever they may be, enhance our spiritual experiences. Treatment does not harm our journey. Receiving help does not 'block our powers' or otherwise disturb the supernatural.
We deserve treatment and support that brings us clarity and allows us to discern between what is real and what is not. We deserve to be believed and given equal consideration when we provide input. We deserve a good quality of life.
We deserve to be helped, rather than mocked, enabled, or aggravated, when our symptoms appear to mislead us. Those preaching love and light should not encourage the sick to become sicker.
Many disorders can discolor the perception of reality; this effect is not exclusive to disorders with psychotic features. Even healthy individuals can find themselves consumed by dangerous misconceptions.
Do not encourage someone to stop taking their medication, quit therapy, or trigger themselves. Do not enable delusions or hallucinations. Do not prey on us, do not bully us, do not ignore us.
If you believe anyone is showing signs of psychosis, please do not barrage them. Help them. It may look stupid or bizarre to you, but for us, it is often humiliating and scary.
A quick google search will tell you how to approach someone who has warped perceptions. It can also illustrate the difference between a person experiencing psychosis versus a sane person that is just being very eccentric.
In conclusion. Please have compassion, and treat people as you would like to be treated.

Thank you so much for answering and for the extra information, I really appreciate it!
If someone said to me, "I'm a beginner witch and I want to cover my bases in case I run into magical trouble," I would recommend:
One home ward for general protection, probably as a container spell or as an artificial spirit (perhaps using clove, red pepper, cinnamon, and soil or dust from the corners of the home/property), for the purpose of keeping out ill-fortune, ill-intent, and unwanted guests
One completely separate home ward, probably as a container spell (perhaps using dill, rosemary, and garlic), for the purpose of keeping out uninvited spirits, unwanted spirits, and malefica sent intentionally or unintentionally by other practitioners
One heavy-duty protective amulet, probably made of rusty nails or a piece of hematite or otherwise iron, for the purpose of behaving as a suit of heavy armor in case of spiritual alarm; to be carried about as you solve the problem; the effects of which may be encumbering and too imposing for everyday use
One more mild protective amulet (perhaps made of amethyst jewelry, or an acorn, or an oak twig cross), for the purpose of providing an immediate protection against ill spirits and energies; to be worn when a shield is desired, but a shielding energy-working technique is too draining or time-consuming; should be comfortable to wear as often as desired
Of all of these things, avoid repeating ingredients across charms, unless you are in special allyship with a certain spirit.
Those persons also suffering from nightmares or disturbed dreams may also benefit from:
One bedroom ward, probably a container spell or Witch's Ladder (perhaps containing star anise, amethyst, knotted cord, spiders or the forms of spiders, and rosemary), for the purpose of tangling up ill spirits and ill energies which inspire bad dreams.
Of any ward and amulet, feed it a minimum of once a season; if they're working often to provide assistance, or if the effects run out, increase feeding to once a month; in times of distress, feed weekly or as needed.

If you don't mind my asking (or for anyone who reads this/sees this) what does it mean to 'feed it'?
I'm not entirely a part of any community, so I don't really have anyone else to ask, my apologies... But I would like to look more into protective wards/charms/etc in particular... and I do suffer from nightmares, night terrors, the like... Unfortunately, even medication doesn't get rid of it. It tampers it down but it never gets rid of the worst of it
I don't have repeating dreams but they can be incredibly distressing, stressful, and leave me very troubled. (if you'd like more information, feel free to message me)
I would like to have my try at wards for nightmares and the lot, but I've no idea what 'feeding' it would mean or comprise of and so any extra information would be very helpful.
Thank you and apologies, again, if this is a bother!

Theoretical Candle Communication Spell
So part of what we're starting to do in the Jasper's Beans Discord is to play these games where we come up with different magical solutions or ideas based on our crafts for a central problem. I decided that the one I came up with earlier this evening would be fun to toss to the dash and let people chew on it for fun. Feel free to analyze, dissect, review, or gnaw on as you please!
The prompt:
You have a good friend who you know enjoys your company but you haven't seen them in awhile and they haven't been responsive to texting or other ways of communicating for a few months. You know that this is something that happens when they are v busy with life.
What are some magical solutions you could do to have more consistent communication with them?
My response was as follows (please note that it took all of 15 minutes for me to put this together):
I've always said that communication is the first thing that fails. Just...generally.
So, for me, this would be an air-aligned spell first and foremost. This is because air is associated with the intellectual realm in my paradigm, and communication is always easiest when you're thinking straight.
My next step would be determining my angle. Would I want to do something involving one of my pop culture sources? If I went the Pokemon route, I could do Psychic or Flying types as the basis. With MTG, Blue might be of the most use to me. But I could also go about it without pop culture influences and dig through my correspondences binder until I found something that interested me.
Let's say, for this hypothetical, that I wanted to cast a one and done spell. How about a candle? For opening communication, I'd probably pick a lovely yellow or a light blue, since I have so many of those and they're decently friendly colors in addition to being associated with air (again, in my paradigm at least). And I have fake craft feathers, so I can use that in some way to bring in more of the air element.
Since most of my magic is done using my own energy, I don't feel the need to get super specific with the taglock, but I guess I could use whatever it is that I communicate with this person on and pull up their profile or contact information on that platform. Finally, I guess I'd throw in a sigil I could make to open up communication. Draw it into the candle or burn it along with the candle wick, I dunno, haven't gotten that far.
So I'd get everything together, draw the sigil where needed, light up the candle, use the craft feathers to waft the smoke vaguely in the direction of my taglock, and cap off the spell by leaving them a text like "Been thinking about you! Hope you're doing alright!"

Red Sand Charm
Red Sand is usually because of iron content in the sand which reacted to oxygen and humidity in the air to produce Iron Oxide, or rust. The presence of Iron places it under a Martial Element, under Samael, Graphiel and Bartzabel.
It can be used for protection, for weapons, to cause confusion, and most things under the realm of Mars, Scorpio or Aries.
It is collected on the day of Mars, preferably during the Hour. If possible, give water or flowers to the land spirits but a simple prayer asking for permission can be done and the land spirits worshiped by proxy at the home altar.
When at home, worship is done and any desired powers invoked into the sand. The sand can be honoured as the embodiment of those powers (i.e. Mars in this case). I generally try to offer five substances depending on the work (Flowers, Incense, Fire, Anointing and Food).
Leave the item for the day or an hour to soak up the energy.
Uses:
Mixed with Salt - creates red salt. Good for protection, some curses, and removing of harmful energy (becoming a warrior) - limited to indoor use.
Mixed with grain - becomes a versatile tool for martial rituals of all sorts. Good to add to spell bags or to line doorways.
Mixed with grain and fiery herbs - good for cursing and hexing, also for fierce protection.
Grind it up with a mortar and pestle and sift it to remove clumps. Could theoretically be made into a chalk type item for writing on the floor and altar.

Moon Magick
What Is A Moon Magick?
In many cultures around the world, practitioners have used the position of the moon, as well as the phases of the moon in their practice. Each phase of the moon is perfect for certain types of magickal workings. Not all witches depend on the particular moon phase. Many develop their own methods and techniques through trial and error to find out what works best. Those that do use the timing of the moon do so by choosing the moon phase most conducive to their magickal workings. This gives their magickal workings some extra lunar energy boost.
Correspondences:
Associated deities: Isis, Diana, Artemis, Morrigan, Holda, Nyx, Nephtys, Sedna, Lilith, baba, Yaga, Kali, Aphrodite, Freya, Ishtr, Hathor, Selena, Oshun, Perspephone, Flora, Cerridwen, Gaia, Epona, Yemanja, Rhiannon, Khonsu, Inanna, Hecate, ...ect
Animals: owls, rabbits, wolves, deer, cats, moths, bats, spiders, raccoons, opossum, cows, frogs, dogs, crabs, whippoorwill, panther
Crystals/Stones: moonstone, selenite, obsidian, silver, mother-of-pearl, aquamarine, gold beryl, topaz, emerald, clear quartz, coral, pearls
Moon Associations: Shadow work, Protection, Meditation, Journaling, Introspection, Strength , Love, Beauty, Manifesting, To attract new things, Purification, Letting go, celebrate your accomplishments, letting go, goal setting, banishing
Plants and Herbs: vervain, moonflower, jasmine, lemon balm, cabbage, camellia, camphor, chickweed, moonwort, gardenia, grape, lemon, passion flower, turnip, potato, pea, cucumber, pear, peach, willow, poppy, mountain ash, mango, wallflower, rowan, cactus
Moon Phases
New Moon
This is the crescent Moon when see the first peak of light, this is a time of newness, the beginning of relationships, the beginning of a new venture, the energy of this phase promotes new beginnings on any level. This is the time for change and for being open to, and looking for new opportunities, tilling the soil and planting seeds actually, and the seeds of ideas.
Waxing Moon
The Moon is beginning to gain strength as it grows in size, and goes from a new to a full Moon, this is a perfect time for growth and increasing things, growth within a relationship, financial growth, a time for learning and gaining knowledge.
If someone is thinking about pregnancy, this is a time of fertility, and it is an exceptional time for communication, in a business matter, or within a relationship. This is also an auspicious time for any legal matters, especially those where finances are concerned, if a healing spell, or healing of any type is needed, this is the time.
Waxing Gibbous
During the phase of the Gibbous Waxing Moon anything to do with increase is compatible; this is a good time for minor magic as the lunar energy is waning.
Full Moon
The full Moon is the most powerful phase, this is when the Moon is seen in its glorious fullness, this is a time of enlightenment and heightened psychic awareness. It is a time when everything comes together, it is a time of ideas, also a time of commitment, to a person, idea or project. It is also a time of family, and or friends coming together, any spell is well aspected during this phase of the Moon.
Waning Gibbous
The Waning Gibbous Moon is suitable for rituals associated with letting go, and banishing, if it is time to clear out the old and prepare for the new, this is the Moon phase to spell craft with.
Waning Moon
As the Moon decreases in size, it goes from full to dark, and this is a time of letting go, it is also a time of completion. If you have been wanting to change something in your life, this is the perfect time.
It is also a time of ending anything that doesn’t work in your life, this may be a habit, a relationship, or paying attention to issues associated with legal matters, this is a time to pay attention to anything that you have been procrastinating about
Moon Water
Moon water is very similar to Sun water. But rather than being charged by the sun, it’s charged by the moon. Moon water can be useful for helping boost the energy of a spell, to help an intention grow, protect and to cleanse a space.
Instructions:
Get a glass bottle
Fill it with any type of water.
Leave the bottle with water out in the moonlight for a whole night.

The Truth About Activated Charcoal
You may have seen a post going around warning people to avoid foods colored with activated charcoal because it can interfere with certain medications. This is well-meaning advice, but the facts about what activated charcoal actually does have been muddled. FIRST: Activated charcoal only affects the gastrointestinal tract. That means:
If you take long-acting birth control via injection, or have a birth control implant, activated charcoal will not interfere with that medication. AC can only interfere with birth control that is taken orally, i.e., the pill.
If you take hormones via injection, or by applying it to your skin (as a gel, dermal patch, et cetera), activated charcoal will not interfere with that medication.
If you take insulin via injection or a subcutaneous pump, activated charcoal will not interfere with that medication.
Activated charcoal works exclusively within the gastrointestinal tract. It adsorbs (different from absorbs) chemicals that are dissolved into liquid form and which the AC makes direct, physical contact with. It cannot affect anything that doesn't go through the gastrointestinal tract! Medications (or drugs, or poisons) that you take as injections, inhalants, vaginal suppositories, and/or topical treatments cannot be affected by activated charcoal.
SECOND: Even if you take your medication orally (or through a tube that enters the stomach or intestines, or as a rectal suppository) it may not be chemically able to be adsorbed by AC. Activated charcoal does not significantly affect:
Metals (incl. lithium; iron, calcium, or zinc supplements)
Electrolytes (incl. magnesium, sodium, or potassium supplements)
Alcohol
Furthermore, AC loses effectiveness if taken more than one hour after a substance is ingested, and even with very high doses or delayed-release drugs, four hours is the limit for it to be considered to have any clinical effect at all. If you take medication (or drugs) more than four hours prior to ingesting AC, the vast majority of the chemical will have already been absorbed through the stomach/intestinal lining and into the bloodstream before the AC has a chance to reach it.
Also, this is considering activated charcoal at maximum pharmacological efficacy -- at the strength it is used in emergency rooms. Charcoal purchased at craft or food supply stores, or online, may not be nearly as potent as the medical-grade stuff hospitals use to treat poisoning. It may not be "activated" at all! Activated charcoal is made through a special process of heating charcoal in high-temperature, low-oxygen environments and then mixing it with other chemicals to eliminate any remaining contaminants. It's very likely that the "activated charcoal" on store shelves is just normal charcoal, aka "burnt plant material."
There are other reasons not to use AC as a food additive (constipation, teeth staining, dehydration) but it will not magically render all your medications null and void, and it certainly won't "flush out" hormone replacement therapy -- even if it inhibits your body's absorption of oral HRT medications like estradiol, it absolutely will not affect any hormones that have already entered your bloodstream. Consider that people have never worried about AC interfering with natively-produced hormones. There is no mechanism by which activated charcoal, or any substance, can differentiate between which hormones your body made on its own and which ones were taken as HRT. Again: activated charcoal does not have any effect on hormone levels in the blood. It is entirely limited to the gastrointestinal tract.
Please try and take a moment to fact-check any post you see that makes any claim about medication interactions, contraindications, overdoses, or side effects. Even if the post seems to be offering well-meaning "better safe than sorry" advice, this is a serious, delicate subject, and misinformation about medicine can have disastrous consequences (I'm looking at you, horse dewormer)
The main source of this information is this article from StatPearls. Information about potential side effects of activated charcoal consumption comes from this article by INTEGRIS.

instead of wheel of the year im using wheel of witchblr discourse that makes the rounds every few months to tell time and figure out when to plant and harvest my crops.
my new sabbat list includes:
someone doesnt understand the 3fold law is only a wiccan thing and starts curse-shaming non-wiccans for cursing
the “blessed be” debacle happens again, creepy invasiveness be damned
people conflating wicca with witchcraft / gatekeeping other people’s crafts
cultural appropriation in droves so we have to bring out the afterschool special ^tm posts (special addition, appropriating person says “i was that race, but like,,in a past life”)
someone wants to shame people who like aesthetics, calls them “fluffy bunnies”
TEH BURNING TYMES WERE REAL AYE TELL YEA AND I SAW GOODY PROCTOR WITH TEH DEVIL
“witchcraft is only for cis womyn uwu✿ ” bullshit, sometimes even brought back by terfs that dont even practice witchcraft ??¿?
someone has a problem with other people using emoji spells, despite no one forcing this rando to use emoji spells.
“love spells are basically rape” discourse happens about the same as a blue moon
this shit happens like clockwork man im telling ya

Cinnamon Tea or Coffee of Victory
For having a successful day where things go your way
💀🎃 SIMPLE SPELLS FOR SPOOKY SEASON 🎃💀
Ingredients:
Cinnamon (stick or tiny pinch of powder)
Fresh hot tea or coffee
Stirring stick
The vital ingredient is a bold, fiery spice: cinnamon may be substituted with ginger, clove, allspice, or "pumpkin spice" seasoning. Mix with any hot drink it will taste good with. Do not over-spice. It will be gritty and gross.
You must mix it yourself. A pre-spiced drink won't do.
You may add anything else you like for taste; sugar, milk, etc.
Step 1: Prepare your tea or coffee as normal, but don't mix anything in yet.
Step 2: Hold the cinnamon stick or powder in your hand. Observe, believe, feel, understand, or know that the cinnamon is the bark of an ancient tree revered by humanity since antiquity.
It's the skin of a god, really - the body of a god of fire and wealth, a god of opulence and victory. Every cinnamon tree in the world, that is now or ever has been, is the hand of an ancient primeval god that rises up into our world - and we peel off the skin, and eat it.
We consume the flesh of that great Holy One to gain a taste of its power. And part of a god is here, in your hand.
Say or think this enchantment while maintaining focus on the spice:
Flesh of Fire Crowned with Gold Bringer of wealth and fortune untold Clear my path and clear my way Grant me victories today As I will it, so shall it be
Step 3: Pop the enchanted spice into your drink and stir it clockwise six times (or, stir the drink with the stick of cinnamon itself).
Step 4: Add any other ingredients for taste. Drink the beverage.
[[Hey! I believe a simple spell cancellation like the Nope Out Spell isn't going to work as well for stuff you eat or drink. ☕💀]]
