let me see... I've seen
Edgy vampires
18th century vampires
Batlike vampires
Glittering "vampires" (yes I know)
Modern day vampires
But medieval vampires riding unicorns into battle/taming dragons/hosting lavish feasts dripping with intrigue?
Nope...
So I (tried) to write it
In the Valedor Saga
Side note: I think I might just start posting up snippets of my stories after all (I'll try not to spoil it)

A random writing tip that just came to me
I realised why my WIP is dragging so badly - I'm not really ready beforehand. It's like exercising without warming up - you will cause yourself injuries. (Or severe frustration and a headache after hours of staring at a blank screen/paper whilst the words hide away somewhere).
Have a Warm-Up Space. Here, just write down anything in your mind. Any paragraphs, descriptions, scenes, heck even fanfics. It doesn't necessarily have to be on your WIP (although it can).
(I may end up posting the most interesting snippets from that space (that might be very random))
Stay tuned

When's the best time to share your work?
Been writing up some chapters of my WIP lately. I've seen others posting up whole chapters or snippets, whether it's finished or unfinished. I don't want to spoil my story or mess up anything, but conversely I wouldn't mind some feedback. I'm a bit confused, what do you all think?

Need help ASAP with this
Currently writing some investigation scenes for a spy in my fantasy novel. How do I make scenes where she (or other characters) are looking at documents/looking for evidence interesting? Bit of background: the spy has been sent to uncover a possible threat to a target's life and its link to a possible embezzlement ring. She's attempting to figure out who's part of the ring.

You know something?
Maybe I actually miss writing on paper.
Not staring at a computer screen, straining your eyes.
Not tapping keys endlessly to produce symbols on a screen.
Not forever clicking about between buttons and boxes.
Not staring at a cursor whizzing about the screen
Hold a pen between your fingers, let the wrist and fingers move
Watch the ink form letters on the page, controlled by you
Paper does not need to be turned off
Paper does not need to be charged
Paper is there for (pretty much) for ever.
Paper does not insult you if you say something wrong
Paper does not angrily reject the words your write on the page
Paper takes whatever you write
And best of all?
Paper cannot be hacked
Screens and keyboards are fine
But sometimes stories don't flow as well
So... let me stop typing (using a keyboard is "not" writing) this spiel and go actually write instead
With a proper pen on some nice lined paper

Advice on writing fake relationships/dating?
Here's the idea: Medieval Setting. A prince and a princess. Their relationship at the moment is built off meetings at royal galas, parties and tournaments. Their respective houses (prince - Northern house of mages and princess - Southern house of high royalty) It's all contracts and rules, and is somewhat stifling.
The prince is coming to the princess's 19th birthday party. The princess's warden/governess wants them to look like they're close even though they barely meet (though they are sort of friends). They are effectively faking their relationship for the sake of their houses (to make it appear like the two houses are in an alliance).
During the party, the princess dances with a completely different prince during the ball, threatening to muck up the show. The gossip in the castle halls immediately begins.
Now, if I was to go with this idea... how on earth would I write it?

A Battle
A thousand hooves thunder upon the ice.
CAVALRY! CHARGE!
Down the hill they pour.
A river of rime, an avalanche of fury
Lances sharp and eyes bright
Slicing into the indigo crescent.
ARCHERS! DRAW!
Bowstrings creak.
SHOOT!
Arrows become hail.
Peppering the frost army.
INFANTRY! CHARGE!
The clash begins.
Sword against sword.
Sword against shield.
Knight against Knight.
Warrior against Warrior.
The battle rages in the moonlight.
Snow rises as soupy dust.
A boiling swirl of blue and white.
A storm of snow and magic.

Ok... I'm officially stuck (warning: rant)
I need some help please!
Currently trying to write my first novel, but I cannot stop iterating. I have rewritten my first chapter around seven different times. I have made many, many synopses (I think that's the plural of synopsis lol). I have half-written some sections, and have barely touched (read: avoided) others. The whole "draft" is a mix of some first-drafted chapters and almost-rinsed-out others.
I feel like it is dragging. It's been stuck in my head for ten years, drawing inspiration from a lot of different works, growing from a snippet imagining a fight at night in an old building to a ridiculously sprawling world with intrigue and romance and creatures and magic and vampires and werewolves and castles and chaos and huge amounts of lore-
HELP!!
rant over, just needed to get this off my chest
Anyway, anyone who's writing novels, how do you manage to stay motivated and successfully finish them? Any tips would be appreciated!
I might just be posting up snippets of my writing too (I'll try not to spoil it though).
Thanks.
EDIT: Looking back through my notes and actually found some good-looking stuff that just needs editing. I think I might put that together and see where I am.

pov: you write just over 2000 words worth of synopsis, with 25 sections, three acts and three different POVs to cover then realise you have to actually put all that into prose so people can read it:

Striga Lore #3 - Becoming A Striga - Part One
"One of the most essential lessons for a young striga is knowing how to continue your sireline, to bring others across through the veil to the eternal shadows."
-From 'The Art of Marking', Tiago Violte Darkstaff
HOW ARE MORE STRIGAE MADE?
Siring (turning other mortals into strigae)
Having children (whilst it is possible, it is not as favoured due to decreased psychic influence and long gestation periods (around 18-24 months)
CHOOSING A POTENTIAL TURNLING
Strigae use their sharpened senses to choose their targets
Some strigae go by ichor alone, focusing on physical traits only
Other strigae target mortals with high levels of influence, or even enemies
A STRIGA'S FIRST TARGET
Strigae who have never turned anyone before (usually between 17-19 winters old) experience their First Marking
During this period, the young striga will sleep heavily, and experience sleep paralysis during which they see visions of the target
The target will begin to hear the voice of the striga in their mind, trying to entrance them
The target can either resist or accept the voice
STRIGAE HYPNOSIS
The next stage is hypnosis
During a physical meeting, the striga and target lock eyes
The striga's eyes release a soft, powerful light that floods the victim's visual field
The light is soothing, slowly reaching into the victim's mind
The target loses all feeling, pain is dulled yet their mind is fully aware
Some strigae ask mentally for consent
If the target rejects, the striga is immediately forced out
If the target accepts, the hypnosis strengthens, and the target falls into a trance as the striga's mind embraces theirs, readying them for the final phase - marking.
More to come in Part 4!

I JUST WANNA WRITE!!
I just want to write this fantasy story that has been sat in my head for just over ten years and has fantasy and darkness and medieval and political intrigue and love triangles and secret plots and vampires and lycans and kitsunes and mafia and huge battles and tender moments and magical artefacts and a million and one other things and I just want to tell people about it and spread it to the world and make it really good because I get ideas almost all the time and I would love to see it as a book and have it sit proudly on a bookshelf and bring it to life HELP!!!!
Seriously I've been looking at lycan stories and vampire stories and I want to make something new, something different, something interesting, something that mixes the genres up and injects a bit of life to it all! argh I don't even know where to start because I have sooooo much lore that I want to give to everyone and I want people to give feedback and I am sorry for this long post but I need to release
Oh and I have exams next week for uni so I better get all this out bye

Rage
I see so much rage around us.
I stand amidst the boiling flames.
The fire in my heart longing to join in.
Like some twisted battle royale.
So much fury in this world.
Rage at the state of the Earth.
Rage at the state of every nation.
Rage at the state of Artificial Intelligence.
Rage at the state of the human species.
Rage at those who do not fit our version of reality.
Rage at those who speak what we see as falsehood.
Rage at those who cover up our version of truth.
Rage at those who rewrite.
Rage at those who lie.
Rage at those who are truthful.
Rage at anyone who doesn't agree.
We gather our forces, storm at each other
Seeing nothing but enemies to destroy
Our 'truths' are our missiles
Honed by curse words as fuel
With others' opinions as the target
Like some kind of shooter game
But in our blind, all consuming, feral rage
Like the primordial werewolf of old
We forget who throws the coals upon the kindling
Who writes the code of the game we play
Who watches us fight in the gladiators' arena and laughs
Who played the cards of Division Division Division?
Placed us into factions to play this Hunger Games?
If we do not quell this rage,
We will be as ashes
Nothing left to fight about.
When there is no-one left to fight.
