Until I Found You, Pt. 7
Tumblr media
[Part. 1], [Part. 2], [Part. 3], [Part. 4], [Part. 5], [Part. 6], [Part. 7]
Hey guys! I am so sorry for not updating in such a long time! I actually had this sitting on my drafts for a while but hadn't been to find the time to edit much less to post it. Since I already graduated high school and summer vacation has started, I finally found some time to write the next few chapters along with posting this one. I will try to write as much as I can considering that I will start College in August and I am not sure how much time I will have on my hands.
P.S. To the one who assumed I was dead, I am alive! Hahaha! But that message you sent did make my day. I had a good laugh for a while after reading it.
Summery: The festival is about to start and with that, the NRC students will finally see what has happened to their two companions.
_____________________________________________________________
“Sorry for the inconvenience, I had to deal with a few issues before coming here.” Professor Trein explained. His tone was soft but stern, giving Rollo the impression that the man was someone who was soft but also tough when needed be. “It’s alright Professor Trein, we are just glad that you were able to make it before the last performance.”
Just as Eliott had said, the professor would have managed to make it before the closing performance. To which he could see the older man was glad for. “I thank you. I also hope my students and charges haven't given you too much trouble.”
“None at all, I am glad to have been able to talk to them while we are here.”
It was a lie, Rollo found them quite repulsing. Always relying on magic to save the day, showing it off without any self restraint. Not to mention that darn purple cat that kept sending him mocking smirks each time their eyes locked.
“Then I am glad.” Guiding the professor to one of the chairs, Rollo then gestures for the other students to follow along. Taking his seat, Professor Trein furrowed his eyebrows when he noticed the lack of two of his charges. “May I ask, where are Shroud and Leblanche?” Once again, Jules jabs Eliott who had snorted.
“It seems that both of them were taken by these ‘hunters’.” Answered Malleus, still looking confused about the whole ordeal. At this, the professor’s eyes widened in disbelief. He turns to look at Rollo for confirmation. “Yes, we had been on our way to the battle arena so that we wouldn’t run into them. Unfortunately, they had catched on and took Idia and Neige.”
“Will they be alright?”
“Yes, this is a small tradition the City of Flowers has. Once the opening ceremony is over, we will be able to recover your companions.”
Deuce lets out a dejected sigh. “They will miss the performance then…” This time, it is Rollo who jabs Eliott on the ribs to stop him from snorting. “Worry not, they will have front row seats to it.” Said Jules with a serene (evil) smile.
He had explained the event as best as he could without revealing the reason as to why they needed to capture two people. Seems like he wanted to make them wonder, or just make them worry more than they already were.
“Is that what they meant by choosing two ‘special and esteemed’ guests?” Asked Ruggie, ears twitching at the noise the crowd was making. Eliott nods, he still looked like he wanted to laugh but was keeping it together. “You can say that, but as Jules had said, they will in no way shape or form be harmed.”
That seemed to settle the professor’s worries.
Taking a seat, Rollo lets himself relax for a moment. Soon he will be able to see you, then once the tour is over with, he and you would be able to relax and spend some time together before his duties get in the way. A nudge from his left snapped him out of his thoughts, turning to face Jules, he gestured for him to speak.
“You alright? Earlier, when Chen’ya was talking to you, you got this angry and moody look on your face. Did something happen?” His peach-haired friend asked, eyes lingering at the cat beast-man who was off talking to Riddle. “Everything is fine, just trying to get on my nerves.” Much like every student that had come as guests since stepping foot into Nobel Bell. Eliott didn’t look convinced, a concern frown on his lips.
“Do you need us to take over the touring?” Adds Jules from his right, red eyes casting a glance at Azul, who had been looking at them. In a lower voice he said, “We don’t mind, you can spend your day with [name].”
Shaking his head, Rollo puts his hand up in order to stop them from talking. “It’s fine, it’s my duty as student council president to show our guests around.” His eyes lock with Azul’s, who simply gives him a kind smile. One that makes him curl his lip in disgust. Covering his face again with his purple handkerchief, Rollo looks away. “Plus, I promised her she could join us. She wants to meet Yuu and Grim.”
If he could, he would have left the whole ‘greeting guests’ thing off to the welcome committee. They always took care of these kinds of things, but since he had been the one to request for the NRC and RSA students to come here, and so he must be the one to show them around. The City of Flowers hardly let anyone enter, especially when it came to the academy. Only those who got the invitation to attend the academy could get in without a problem.
And those who didn’t go to the academy, had extended family here, or were on business trips, had to get special permission from the chief in charge of the city. Rollo had to play his part, that meant spending time with the guests as much as it killed him. He couldn’t let Jules’s hard work in trying to convince the chief in letting a few guests in, down the drain.
And the idea of just leaving the two other people that he tolerated at best (no matter what you said, he will not call them friends. The Great Seven know Eliott and Jules will tease him about it relentlessly.) to deal with this hot mess of students. Though, he could say Neige and Yuu were about the only decent ones from the group. And yet, Neige’s unnatural kindness sent a shiver down his spine.
No one should be that kind.
Before any of the two began teasing him about letting you join them, the loud sound of trumpets cut them off. The familiar rhythm of the drums and trumpets make the crowd instantly cheer, and causes him to sit straight, paying full attention into the arena where a bunch or performers come out dressed as villagers. Jules and Eliott instantly quiet down, eyes eager to see the last performance. Much like Rollo, both had been looking forward to seeing you perform.
“Maybe you've heard of a terrible place where the scoundrels of Paris Collect in a lair.”
The ‘villagers’ began singing in union, walking at the beat of the trombone. The crowd also began to clap along with the beat, some of them even joining on the singing. From the corner of his eyes, he saw the way Epel nodded along.
“Maybe you've heard of that mythical place of the Court of Miracles!”
The giant double doors of the battle arena opened up, and in came you strolling on top of Snowflake, a dark red, white, and black jester dress, a matching hat and mask on your persona. You were sitting sideways, guiding the black stallion as he did the mini dance moves with the beat of the music. Your lips were painted a dark deep red, set on a smirk as your eyes looked over the crowd.
“Hello, you're there!”
Your voice mixed in with the rest of your companions and crowd, causing even more cheering. A mixture of amazement and surprised gasps could be heard from the other students. Rook was smiling, a light blush on his face, and Rollo remembered something the third year had told him when he had introduced himself. About being the protector of beauty. Guess Rollo can agree with him on you being beautiful, no matter what you wore or how you presented yourself, you were always breathtaking.
“Where the lame can walk and the blind can see!”
The stallion makes a stop in front of Rollo and his charges. You smirk at them, looking as proud as he felt. “But the dead don't talk, so you won't be around to reveal what you've found!” Your voice was full of joy as you sang, making sure to cast each of the guests a look of mischief before grabbing a bunch of bead festival necklaces from your satchel and throwing it at them.
Sebek lets out an unceremonial shriek, trying to prevent the necklaces from finding a way to Malleus’s horns. Silver catches three of them, a black, green, and aurora one. His eyes stare at you, a small amused smile on his lips as he slips the green one on Sebek, places the aurora one on himself and gives the black one to Malleus. Who smiles, (Rollo gagged a bit), and slips it on, glad to be included in the whole thing.
Azul, Jamil, and Ruggie each have a yellow, maroon, and blue one around their necks, joy filled smiles that don’t scream irritation or shadiness. Deuce holds a red one for Riddle who takes it with a smile as he gives a blue one to Deuce in return. Epel is already wearing a deep rich purple one, matching with Rook.
Yuu is smiling, laughter escaping his lips as he slips a bright blue necklace on Grim’s neck, the boy matching with his companion. Chen’ya laughs, seeming to make it his mission to catch as many necklaces as he can while wearing five different colors around his neck.
Grabbing one that had got caught on his chair, he hands it to Professor Trein, who mumbles a thanks as he continues to watch the performance.
“We have a method for spies and intruders rather like hornets protecting their hive. Here in the Court of Miracles, where it's a miracle if you get out alive!”
This time, you sing along with the crowd and performers. Some of the students begin singing along with you while clapping to the beat of the song. Jules waves his pointed finger while singing, Eliott claps, a bright smile on his face. Rollo huffs in amusement but even he couldn’t fight off the tiny smile as he watched you gain more confidence with each step and word.
A softer tone takes place after singing the last part, and on cue the five jesters that had cornered them appear in multiple purples of smoke. The leader, Yellow Jester, takes a deep bow as she waves to the crowd. Smirking when her eyes landed on the group. Deuce and Epel gasp and point at them, eyes wide in recognition.
Yellow jester laughs as they look confused as begins following you and Snowflake with a jump to her step. Jules and Eliott both cover their mouths to prevent from full blown laughing, both already knowing that the moment the music picks up on its usual beat, they will be in for a surprise.
“Now! Bring forth the intruders who dare step into our Court Of Miracles!” Your voice is booming, bringing everyone to pay attention to you. The Yellow jester laughs while taking a deep bow. “Why yes! We must bring the criminals in for you to judge!” With an elegant twirl, she points at Purple Jester and Blue Jester, “You heard our esteem Judge! Bring forth the intruders!”
“She’s the judge?!” Exclaimed Epel. A few of the other students are just as shocked as he is. “But, what does she mean by intruders?” Asked Jamil, looked once again guarded. “Did we break a rule by accident?” Adds Azul, eyes focusing on the crowd.
Before they could keep asking, the music picked up pace, and in came the answer they had all been seeking. Coming in, tied up with rope and white pieces of cloth covering their mouths, were Idia and Neige. Though, Neige looked a little more composed than Idia did.
“What are they doing there?!” Riddle and Deuce both yelled at the same time.
Professor Trein looked shocked, but from his lack of action, Rollo assumed he already knew what this was. “Holy- Idia looks like he is about to piss his pants!” Grim laughs as Yuu tried to scold him, worry in his brown eyes. “That is if he hasn’t already!” Adds Ruggie, a mocking laugh leaving his lips.
“Justice is swift in the Court of Miracles, I am the lawyers and judge all in one!” You sang as you trotted towards the two rope bound students who were now on their knees. Idia shrieks, his cry muffled as he stares at you, bugged eye. From his point of view, it looked like the grim reaper had comed to take his soul. Neige flinched a bit, but schooled his expression. He knew you weren’t going to hurt them, but he will admit. It was intimidating watching you reach them with that huge horse.
“We like to get the trial over with quickly because it's the sentence that's really the fun!”
In a flurry of movements, you pull Snowflake away and reach to pet the two of them The gentle tap you give them caused Idia to flinch and Neige to tilt his head on confusion. You laugh at this, sharp and mocking. Rollo’s chest fills with pride, honestly, he can see why they chose you to be the main act this year. You truly were amazing.
“Any last words?”
Idia begins shaking back and forth furiously, his muffle shrieks being heard even from where Rollo was sitting. Neige’s are a lot more tame, but you could see the way he is suitably struggling in. You smirk once again and pull away, “That's what they all say.” That just makes Idia panic even more.
“Now that we've seen all the evidence-!” One of the jester boys sings before being sharply interrupted by one of the ‘villagers’. A young woman dressed in a plain beige dress raised her hand, and from his left, he heard a multitude of sighs of relief from the other student. Eliott snorted, holding his stomach of all the laughing he had done.
“Wait! I object!”
“Overruled!” You yelled back.
“I object!”
“Quiet!” You yelled again, fake frustration in your voice.
“Dang!” Said the woman softly as she lowered her hand down. The crowd laughs, cheers going around the battle arena.
“We find you totally innocent, which is the worst crime of all…” You sang sadly while holding a hand over your heart, Snowflake’s reins in your other hand. In union, the other jesters follow, with exaggerated frowns on their painted lips. Riddle furrows his eyebrows, “What does she mean that they are innocent and then say that it’s one of the worst crimes?”
Professor Trein chuckles, shaking his head. This causes his students to look at him in confusion. Malleus tilted his head, a small smile on his lips, he looked confused but he was still enjoying himself. Rollo rolled his eyes, the prince looked ridiculous with those colorful necklaces around his neck. (Sebek had made it his personal mission to collect as many as he could for Malleus when he saw how happy it made him wearing one.)
“So you're going to hang!” You and the crowd sang, full of cheer as you raised your hand into the air and bowed as much as you could while riding Snowflake.
Rollo had been prepared for two types of reactions: One, the cheers of the crowd as they all agreed with your ‘choice’ while also clapping. (That was the majority of the crowd). Two, the gasps of shock and horrified yells from the students he was with as they all objected with your ‘choice’.
Rollo has a tiny smirk on his lips, Eliott and Jules laughing out loud on either side of him. Professor Trein laughed lightly, shoulders shaking from the reaction of his students. Chen’ya also laughed, eyes watching the chaos unfold. Then there were the loud shrieks of Idia as they dragged him out and back into the double doors he had come out of. Neige had a look of realization when he looked into the crowd, his shoulders shaking as he laughed.
Turning to Rollo and his group, you smirk and bow.
“W-Wait! I am sure we can think of something to help them!” Deuce and Epel tried to hold you back by calling out to you. Their voices coated with panic for their two upper-classmen. You turn back to face them, a haughty smirk on your lips. Placing a finger up to your lips is a quiet motion, you winked at them before fully turning around and guiding Snowflake into the double doors.
The five jesters all bowed to the crowd, then in a purple cloud, vanished just as the double doors to the battle arena closed. The crowd went wild, cheers could be heard in every direction as people clapped and hooted. All of them were overjoyed at the performance, for it meant that the long week festival had officially begun.
Clapping along with the crowd, Rollo smiled. It was small, and barely even visible unless you really looked into it. Professor Trein and Chen’ya cheered along, each wearing a different smile. Jules and Eliott hooted, calling out your name as they cheered. The other students all stared in a mixture of confusion, and a little worried at the fate their two other companions may bear.
Clearing his throat, Rollo stood up from his chair and gestured for the others to do the same. “It’s best if we leave now, before the crowd gets rowdy.” Both his secretary and vice-president follow his lead, Professor Trein nods and tells his students and charges to do the same. There are some who voice their disagreement in just leaving, worried over their two companions. Rollo sighs, a little irritated but lets Professor Trein handle them as they make their way out.
“Worry not, they are both fine.” Said the older man, “This is all part of the tradition here in the City of Flowers.” At this, Riddle and Azul perk up. “Tradition?” Asked Azul, casting a glance at Jules who looked away, an innocent smile on his lips. The group continues to walk away from the crowd, following Rollo as he moves swiftly through the bodies of people. “Yes, I will explain it as we go to retrieve Shroud and Leblanche.”
Rollo was thankful he didn’t have to deal with them anymore. With a sigh, he continues to walk, Jules and Eliott both laughing at his side.
______
Just as you mounted off Snowflake, you heard a shriek so loud that it startled your stallion. Quickly, you began mumbling words of comfort so the black stallion won’t run off like he had done months prior to getting scared by one of the students by accident. Frowning, you hand Snowflake to one of the stable boys and head to wear you could hear the shrieking and sobbing.
A multitude of the performers surrounded two people, the two that had been selected by the hunters you notice, and it seemed like they were trying to calm down the one with blue fiery hair. For a few seconds, you stare at the boy in amazement. Not once in your stay here had you seen someone with that kind of hair. It looked incredibly beautiful and unique, it brought a smile to your face.
The boy let another sob, breaking you from your trace. Clearing your throat, you quickly maneuvered yourself around the bodies and into the center where the boy was crying. “Is everything alright?” You asked. And in an instant he turned to face you so quickly that you feared he would snap his neck by the speed he had used.
“YOU!” The boy lunged at you, and having little time to react, both of you landed on the ground. You yelp in surprise and pain from the landing as the boy clung to you, babbling in both fear and anger. “I HAVE DONE NOTHING TO DESERVE THIS!” You wince at the volume of his voice. Two of the girls nearby tried to help you off the ground while another two did their best to remove the crying boy from you. “THIS IS WHY I NEVER GO TO NORMIE EVENTS! I END UP GETTING KIDNAP ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!”
You tried to calm him down, confusion and worry mixed together as you did your best to soothe his worries. But every time you tried to push him away he would hold you tighter as if you were a lifeline. “Idia! Please let them go! They don’t mean any harm!” Your eyes glanced towards the honey voice. If you weren’t stuck in this situation, you would have gasped at how pretty the boy looked.
“FIRST IS THE DAMN GHOST BRIDE NOW I WILL END UP WITH MY HEAD ON A NOSE BEFORE I MAKE IT TO PREMIER OF MY FAVORITE ANIME!” Tears and snot left the boy, some of it smearing onto your outfit. Had it been anyone else or any other situation, you would have been angry, after all, the dress wasn’t even yours.
The ravenette went to help the two other girls pull Idia away from you, his voice calm and collected as he did so. With the help of one of the performers, you stood up and dusted away the dirt off your outfit. After making sure that the snot could be washed off, you turn back to the crying boy. Taking off the mask, you gave it to the performer that helped you and walked towards Idia and the pretty boy.
The ends of Idia’s hair were turning red the more he struggled from the grip the others had on him. “Thank the seven that we casted a magic nullification spell on him.” Anna, the yellow jester said, eyes wide as he watched Idia struggle even more. “We would have been dealing with more than screaming and shouting.”
You could only imagine. If the boy was like this without any magic, you wondered what he would do if he could cast spells. Without thinking, you rubbed the magical ring on your right hand. It was much like the ones the student at Nobel Bell wore, the only difference was that it wasn’t for casting magic, but for protection. Something Rollo had given you with the persimmon of the Headmage.
“Did you guys inform him of why he had been taken away?” You asked, looking at her with serious eyes. She looks away, a nervous smile on her lips. “About that…they are two of the many guests President Flamm invited.” At this you stare at her in disbelief. “Why would you take two of his guests?!” More importantly, how did they manage to take them if Rollo was there?
“He gave us the ok! I swear [name]! We asked before we even took them! If he had said no, we would have just taken Jules and Eliott!”
You sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose. Idia’s shouts were starting to gather more attention. “I’ll go deal with him. Go and find Rollo, we don’t want more attention on us.”
“You sure?” Asked Anna, eyes casting a worry look towards the fighting Idia. You nod, “Yeah, I’ll calm him down and explain why he had been dragged here.” Anna sighs but compiles. Leaving you with two of Rollo’s guests along with the other girls helping you, you sigh again and put on your best smile.
Thank the seven you knew how to put on a good act, even under pressure.
“Hey! I am so sorry for the misunderstanding!” You raised your voice in order to be heard from all the yelling and shouting. Idia halts his struggling, yellow eyes looking at you with small tears. “We will not hurt you,” you added softly, “So please, stop shouting. The horses are getting agitated and if you keep making too much noise they will try to get out and possibly hurt others and themselves.”
As if to make a point, Snowflake huffed. The stable boy you had given your stallion to shrugged at your questioning look. “I tried taking him back but he refused to move.” Snowflake huffed again in agreement. Shaking your head, you turn back to look at Idia and  begin walking towards him. “Look, they will unhand you but you need to calm down. It’s a lot to ask, especially when you don’t know why you are here in the first place.”
Idia squints his yellow eyes, suspicion in them as he slowly puts his hands on his sweater pocket. Something blue flashed from the corner of your vision, but before you could get a quick look, it was already gone.
“...Fine…”
With a multitude sighs of relief, the girls unhand him. Some give him a small glare while others give him a sympathetic smile. They all leave except the pretty boy and your horse who the stable boy decided to tie up before taking his leave. If you could read his thoughts, you would almost bet that he was having a good time witnessing whatever was about to happen.
Smiling once more, you gesture for the two boys to take a seat on the nearby bench. “Now, take a seat. I will explain everything. But before we begin, my name is [Name] [Last name]. I am a first year student at Noble Bell College.”
“Nice to meet you, again, sorry for the inconvenience.” The raven hair boy spoke, a sweet smile on his rosy lips. “My name is Neige Leblanche and the person next to me is Idia Shroud.” He gestures to the flame haired boy. “Well, I do apologize, Idia and Neige.” Standing up, you offer a light bow. “I didn’t know that both of you hadn’t been informed about the stunt we pulled.”
In all honesty you thought Rollo would have explained it to them the moment they arrived in order to avoid a situation like this one. Especially to people who didn’t know a single thing about the week long masquerade. You had known about it since you would be part of the act, and Rollo had warned you in case you were chosen as the ‘intruder’ and if you put yourself in their shoes, they had every right to act the way they were.
“It’s alright! Every place has their own traditions! We should have done more research about the City of Flowers before coming, so that is a mistake on our part.” Reassured Neige as he gestured you to sit down. Idia frowns, a scowl taking place on his face. “Doesn't excuse the fact that Flamm didn't even give a warning…"
You laughed nervously, between you and Rollo, no one knew of the childish streak the third year had. While he remained mature and a role model student in the public face, Rollo was a whole other person when he was behind doors. Much like Jules and Eliott, he tended to cause mayhap and chaos. Many times, he enjoyed watching it while laughing. This was one for those moments. And perhaps it was karma considering that you tended to join his little misadventures.
"I'm sure he wanted to warn you but hadn't been given enough time…hunters do tend to appear out of nowhere."
"Now that you mentioned it, he had been in a hurry to get us to the battle arena." Thank the seven for Neige! You nod enthusiastically. "See? He probably couldn't explain it on time!"
"He had more than enough time! We spent nearly all morning with him!" Exclaimed Idia, anger clear on his face. You gulp, "I'm sure Rollo didn't want to spoil the surprise!" Neige (bless his soul) quickly came to the rescue. "Yeah! Many of the students in our group had questions and he had been there to answer them. Plus, even with Jules and Eliott helping him, he still had a handful!"
Idia shot Neige a small glare but didn’t say anything back. Taking this as an opportunity, you spoke up again. “Well, then let me make up for it!” Clapping your hands together, you shot them a smile. “Now, let me start by explaining the reason you two were stuck as this years’ intruders.”
With that you launched off to a very long, and hopefully not so boring explanation.
The whole tradition started off in honor of the Court Of Miracles, a place rumored to house people who were hiding from the monsters that used to roam the City of Flowers. The place could only be found by a special map and only a few selected had ownership of said map. While the place may have been hard to find, it didn’t mean that it was impossible.
Many times, monsters and people with the wrong intentions would try to intrude the place, and in order to keep it safe along with the people living there, a few fellow jesters would capture them and execute them. The leader of the group of jesters was often referred to as the Judge while the other five jesters would be called the hunters.
The Judge would be the one to take care of dealing the final order while the five hunters would do the capturing. That was how they managed to keep the place safe for so long. That was until two people had come. They were about to be executed if it hadn’t been for a young woman who knew them and concluded that they were no threat to the Court of Miracles. Because those two people were in fact friends of the young women and they wanted to help the fair judge, the one who wanted freedom for the City of Flowers, in defeating the monsters.
Hence, they had earned the privilege of leaving and entering in exchange for help. And so, in order to make sure people remember the bravery of the people, the people in the City of Flowers made it a tradition to start off the festival with the song and performance. Which also included having two intruders and a Judge who guided five jesters.
But the citizens wanted to add a twist to it in order to make it fun and memorable. Instead of just choosing the two intruders like how they chose the Judge and jesters, they decided to select the two remaining people on the day of the festival by capturing two unsuspected people and bringing them forth.
“And that is why Rollo didn’t stop them from taking you, he knew the two of you wouldn’t be in danger.” You finish off your explanation by doing a last attempt in saving some face for Rollo. Neige clapped his hands at your performance while Idia just looked even more perplexed. “And people agreed this was a good idea?!” He asked after a minute or two.
“Well, many liked it! And many more hope to get chosen for it!”
“What is so good about being kidnapped?!”
You did your best to hold in a sigh of frustration. Instead, you shot him a bright smile, one you were sure looked forced but no longer cared. “The reason many hope to get picked is this.” Holding the object up, you showed them the prize. Neige gasped at it, eyes shining with curiosity while Idia just looked even more done.
“...A dream catcher necklace…?”
“Don’t give me that look!” Huffing you began explaining, again. “Remember the map I mentioned that led to the Court of Miracles? This is a mock imitation of it. It’s not the real thing, no one knows how it actually looked liked.”
Giving one of the two necklaces to Neige, you continued. “Much like the rumored map, this one is a map of the city. It will show you different locations and what not. The catch to it however, is that you will have to figure out the locations yourself, once you do, a prize will be given. You have until the end of the week to figure it out.”
Idia takes the necklace you offered, yellow eyes looking it over with hidden curiosity. He no longer looked angry, which was a win for you. “It’s like a scavenger hunt?” Asked Neige. You nod, “You need to find the locations on the map, once you do, it will glow, meaning that the location has been found. It should be about ten locations each.”
“And the prize?” Idia mumbled, eyes still glued to the necklace. “Ah…about that, I don’t have a clue as to what it is.” This time, his yellow eyes trained on you, brows furrow. You smile nervously. “From what I heard, not a single person has been able to find the actual prize. Many get close but the last location is the one that no one is able to find.”
From what Eliott and Jules had told you, when they had been selected as the intruders during their first year, both had worked together in order to find all the locations. That had helped them cover most of their base in three days, letting them have the rest of the week to figure out where the last location was. Yet no matter how much either of them looked, they couldn’t figure it out. Even with Rollo’s help, both didn’t manage to finish the quest.
It was the same for past students who were picked, not one was able to find the last location.
“Huh…now that sounds interesting.” A sudden sharp smile appeared on Idias face as he began to giggle. You stare at him confused and a little worried. Neige didn’t seem affected by it, but he did share the same enthusiasm as Idia. More or less.
“And people can help you with this right?” Asked Neige. “Yep, since the locations switch up every year, asking for the old ones won’t work but you can receive assistance.” Pointing at the little purple jewels on the string, you explain further. “No one is in charge of placing the locations. The ones who do are the stones here, I have no clue where they come from though. All I know is that they chose the locations and once you finish with it, you give it back to the Headmage.”
Idia hums, he runs his fingers through the small diamond beads. Neige does the same, though he looks more joyish that Idia, who still has that sharp smirk. You don’t question it nor do you point it out. This was better than having Idia panic.
Anyways, the important thing was that there was no more noise and the people with their horses could pass by without fearing that the horses would act out. Plus, Anna would be here with Rollo soon, though, looking at your outfit you grimace. You could feel your sweat sticking to the fabric of the outfit. You wanted to go take a quick shower and change to the school’s female uniform. The robes would be getting in your way, especially when you planned to walk around with Rollo for the day. And from the looks of it, the warm weather may get a bit more warmer. While you preferred pants over anything else, the skirt of the female uniform will allow for easy movement and it will keep you cool.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long for Anna to come back with Rollo. Standing up from your position, you greeted the third year. Without sparing a single glance at the two other boys, he made his way to you, a worried frown on his face. Grabbing your face in a gentle grip, he pulls you close. “Are you alright?”
“Yes, I’m fine. A little tired from the performance but nothing I can’t deal with.”
He still looked unconvinced, placing your hands on top of his own, you gave him a confident look. “Really, I am fine. Plus, I had Anna get you since Idia was panicking.” Gesturing towards the blue haired boy, who was too busy looking at the dreamcatcher necklace. “I managed to calm him down, but I didn’t want to leave them alone, especially when he is one of your guests.”
Sure, you could have asked one of the performers to stay with both Neige and Idia but you also felt a little guilty at scaring them. It would be better for you to wait and explain the situation than leave and let someone else deal with Idia’s outburst. Rollo sighs, annoyance clear in his green eyes as he looks at the smirking boy. “I heard he had tackled you.”
“Ah, yeah but I didn’t get hurt. He was just panicking and it’s understandable considering that he got taken away without any context.”
Rollo avoids your gaze at your pointed look. “...The hunters got there before I could explain.”
“Anna said that you gave them the ok to take two of the guests.”
“...”
Shaking your head, you sigh, a little smile on your face. It’s not like you could blame him for not telling them. Much to everyone's surprise (except you) Rollo tended to be a bit mischievous and just like any other teenager, he enjoyed pulling little pranks on others. Of course, he did this when no one was looking or when he knew it wouldn’t harm others. Most of the time, you helped him with it.
Like last month, you had helped him get back at Eliott and Jules for teasing him. It had started with Rollo admitting that he had a fondness for banana milk. Both boys had teased him for a while, it was unexpected for someone like Rollo to like something so sweet. Rollo had enough of it at some point and with your help, both of you plotted how to get back at both of your friends. Till this day, Eliott and Jules both still have glitter in their hair.
“Ah, Rollo! I do apologize for the earlier outburst. It had taken us by surprise.” Neige spoke up, brown eyes on the both of you. Startled, Rollo pulled away from you and regarded the raven head boy with a nod. “Yes, I also apologize. I had intended to explain to you all the traditions we have here but I hadn’t made it on time.”
Idia snorted, yellow eyes casting a glare at the third year but didn’t comment anything. “It’s alright, you wanted to have the element of surprise.” Once again, you thanked Neige. He was doing his best to convince Idia that it had been all harmless fun. Though, Idia didn’t look very convinced  at all. Clearing his throat, Rollo gives them both a nod.
“Right, I will be taking you back to the group. They are waiting by the entrance of the battle arena.” He then turns to you. “Will you be joining us?”
“I will, I just need to take a quick shower and change my clothes.” Twirling in your jester outfit you show it off. “I don’t wanna walk around in this. Not that it is a bad outfit, but I am not used to dressing up like this.”
Halting, you fully look at the pale boy. His face was a little red from what you could tell. He was hiding his face behind his infamous purple handkerchief but you could see the tip of his ears turning red. “R-Right…then we will wait for you in the city.”
Nodding, you agree with him before turning your attention towards the two other boys. Both were staring at the two of you. Neige with a small soft smile and a knowing look in his eyes. Idia looked a little annoyed but also had a look of longing. You didn’t question it, whatever was going on was their own deal. “Then, I will join you all later!”
With a bow, you waved to them goodbye, then, without thinking much, pressed a chaste kiss on Rollo’s cheek. You left the stables without looking back, a silly smile decorating your lips.

Until I Found You, Pt. 6
Tumblr media
[Pt. 1], [Pt. 2], [Pt. 3], [Pt. 4], [Pt. 5], [Pt, 6]
Warning: F!reader, Rollo being a Malleus hater, event spoilers, mock kidnapping, NRC students being NRC students, Eliott and Jules being menaces to society, Rollo being jealous, and blot
Characters: Rollo, Eliott (Oc), Jules (Oc), Malleus, Silver, Sebek, Idia, Rook, Epel, Jamil, Azul, Ruggie, Riddle, Deuce, Yuu, Grim, Professor Trein, a few Oc's here and there. Neige, Chen'ya
Summery: It was finally the day of the week long festival! And it was time you did your duty as a student in Nobel Bell College, but it also meant meeting the person who was in the same situation as you.
“Did you see the NRC and RSA students?”
“Wow! I never thought I would be able to see Neige Leblanche up close!”
“Did you see that guy with silver hair? He looks like a prince!”
Voices of both boys and girls mingle together as they talk about the newly arrived NRC and RSA students. You hadn’t been able to see them yet, having risen early to get everything you needed along with the two outfits you were going to wear for the performances. Just alone from the conversations you had been hearing all morning, you could tell that the people who came here today weren’t just anyone.
A prince, an actor and model, a son of a noble family from the Queendom of Roses, a second year who was known for his booming business at such a young age, and the heir to the Shroud family business. Those were some of the things you managed to hear from the two girls who were accompanying you for the first performance. You had expected to meet and see many people from different social standings, but expecting and actually doing so were two different things.
With a clammy hand, you continued to brush down Snowflake’s mane, the black stallion calmly eating the almonds you had brought to keep him in good spirits and calm. Though, you were starting to think that the one who needed to keep calm was you. You had practiced your routine for almost two months, way before decorations for the Masquerade Ball started to appear on peoples’ houses and the school.
You practically knew the routine by heart! But that didn’t stop the nervous tremor you felt in your hands. This was different, all of this was new to you. Performing for a group of royals and nobles was already nerve wracking, but performing in front of a crowd of people who saw you on the daily really made your head dizzy. If you mess up, the royals and nobles will speak about it but won’t ever see you again.
But the people who lived in the city and attended NBC would most certainly see you everyday and remember your failure.
“Great seven…I’m not up to performing yet and I am already getting myself nervous.” You told your stallion, running your fingers through his mane. He huffs, a crunch leaving his mouth as he continues to chew on the almonds. The stables were the least packed, most of the performers had taken their horses outside in order to get some last minute preparations.
You had decided to stay inside with a few others, far too nervous to face the crowd that you were sure had formed just outside the battle arena. Instead, for the past hour or so you spend them going over the song you were to perform as the closing event. It was a classic one, originating from the City Of Flowers. And for whatever reason, they decided that you were to perform it.
“Maybe you've heard of a terrible place where the scoundrels of Paris collect in a lair.” You hummed under your breath, the familiar tune you had come used to hearing after countless hours of practice coming out of your throat easily. Snowflake’s ears perked up at the sound of your voice, his hoofs tapping on the dirt ground. Seems like he also recognized the lyrics. Smiling, you patted his neck before putting away the brush and taking the empty snack bucket.
The rest of the song came out clearly, Snowflake dancing along with it, happy little huffs leaving his nose. The nerves in your body melted little by little as you went over your routine with the black stallion. By the time you finished going over the routine you had been filled to the brim with energy.
“Ok, we got this Snowflake! All we have to do is keep calm.” He huffed, almost as if telling you that he was not nervous to begin with. You rolled your eyes, a small grin on your lips. “Yeah, yeah, I was nervous for the both of us.” Glancing at the time on the clock hanging by the stables’ double doors, you curse under your breath.
“Shit, I gotta go and get changed.” Calling over one one of the stable boys, you instructed him in what to do with Snowflake. Then, you rushed out of the stables with a few of the other performers and into the changing rooms. One of the girls handed you a yellow dress, brown riding boots, and a deep blue coat. “Good luck [name]!” Giving her a rushed thanks, you changed as best as you could.
With some help, your hair was done in a style that would keep it away from your face. Some light make-up was added and with that, you were already mounting Snowflake. Pulling on the reins, you directed the horse towards the line of other horses. Glancing behind you, you casted an encouraging smile to one of the girls performing with you. She gave you a nod, her brown eyes glinting with excitement.
You could already hear the crowd inside, all anticipating the performance so they could start the week officially. Rubbing your palm against your stallion, you took another deep breath and put on your best smile. Once you got this done and over with, you would be able to spend the rest of your day with Rollo.
“We will now be presenting the Equestrian Club!”
And with that, all ten selected club members guided your horses to the battle arena, bright smiles and ready to perform.
_____
Rollo covered his lower face with his purple handkerchief, a frown present on his lips. He watched the NRC and RSA students mingle with each other, speaking and laughing in excitement. Their black and white uniforms make them stand out like a sore thumb among the festive outfits the citizens of the City of Flowers wore and Nobel bell students still wearing their school uniform. Glancing at the city’s clock, he sighs, your performance won’t be until a few more minutes. He hadn't been able to see you for most of the morning, his duty as student president prevented him from leaving early as he had to show their guests around.
It would have been fine if not for the fact that the moment the NRC students arrived they started to show off whatever magic they had. That put a bitter taste on his tongue and soured the majority of his morning. He was grateful to Eliott who quickly took over when it became clear that Rollo wouldn’t be able to stay quiet about their magic use.
“Why is everyone heading over there?” Yuu, the magicless human Crowley had mentioned in his letter, asked him. He was painting towards the battle arena where he knew you were probably getting ready. “It is tradition to start the week-long festival with a performance and a traditional song from the City of Flowers.” Rollo explained, lowering his handkerchief to speak properly to Yuu.
“In a few minutes, members of the Equestrian Club will perform a small show, and lastly, one of the members will perform an old traditional song. After that, the festival will officially begin.” Yuu nods in understanding. “So it’s like an opening ceremony?” The third year president nods.
“The festival hasn’t started?” Rollo suppresses the want to roll his eyes. Turning to face the very bane of his existence, Malleus Draconia, he nods. “Yes, I will guide you to the battle arena before the ‘annual hunt’ begins.” Jules nods, his eyes scanning the area. “I think it will be best to leave now, while there isn’t a big crowd.” His secretary adds.
A few of the NRC students furrow their eyebrows in confusion, others looking around the area. “What is this ‘annual hunt’?” Rook peaks up after a few seconds of silence. Jules and Eliott share a look, both of them look unsure of whether they should just tell them in case they are selected. Rollo could see the conflict and familiar mischief swimming in their eyes.
He gave them a blank look, while it would be amusing to see one of them get selected for the annual hunt, he didn’t want to run the risk of them using magic as self defense thinking that they would get kidnapped. Even if the ones doing the hunt use a magic nulling spell, there could be some sort of repercussion. Turning to face the invited students, he is about to explain what is the annual hunt when a puff of smoke appears in the middle of their formed circle.
‘Too late’ he thinks as four more clouds of smoke appear, clearly a coordinated attack. Instantly, Silver and Sebek form a protective barrier in front of Malleus, their magic pens out and ready for attack. Deuce stands in front of Riddle in a protective manner, pen out as Riddle covers his back. Epel and Rook put their backs together, eyes sharp while their hands on their magical pens, not taking them out just yet. Ruggie, Jamil, and Azul get into an attack position, each ready to attack if needed to. Idia lets out a whimper, shrinking into himself with fear and shock written all over his face.
The only ones who don’t move are Rollo, Jules, and Eliott. The three of them simply stood back, already knowing where this was heading. So much for trying to get to the battle arena before the group of ‘hunters’ appeared. “A boss battle this soon in the event?!” Idia said, voice trembling. “Who are you?! And what do you want?!” Demanded Riddle, glaring furiously at the five selected hunters for this year.
“Now, now gentlemen! There is no need to be hostile!” The leader of the hunt, a blonde girl, said. Her hands raised in mock surrender. She was sporting a yellow jester outfit, a black and yellow mask on her face, making it hard for Rollo to tell who it was. “We have come in humbling peace!”
The bells in her hat ring with each movement she does, the other hunters, dressed as different color jesters Rollo noticed, all follow along. A purple jester hums a tune under his breath, and Rollo already knows who Purple jester had picked out of the students. A red jester walks towards him, his brown eyes looking over at the third year with interest before walking away in favor of looking at Neige.
Neige smiles nervously, hiding behind Chenya who looked intrigued by the five different color jesters. A blue jester stands near Malleus, Silver, and Sebek, eyeing the two guards and from where Rollo stands, he could see him thinking about the pros and cons in taking one of the guards. And the final jester, one dressed in green skips around Idia, smirking at the way the blue haired boy shrinks into himself even further.
“President! You don’t mind if we snag one or two of your esteemed guests do you?” Yellow jester says, hands on her hips. Rollo looks at her, then at the students. They all look at him, confused and a little worried. Their magical pens are still out but he could see how some of them start to lower them. “We just want to show the two specials selected to the V.I.P. room where our esteem judge is!”
At this, Rollo perks up, “So, she really was selected to play the part of the judge this year?” Yellow nods, tiny smirk on her lips. He did know you had a solo performance to do, but he didn’t know if it had been for the part of the judge/jester, or if you were just one of the backup vocals.
“Very well, whoever you choose, please do handle them with care.” Placing his handkerchief up to his lips, Rollo hides the tiny smirk forming on his lips. Eliott sniggers while Jules jabs him on the ribs, trying to contain his own laughter. “W-What?!” Exclaimed Epel, anger clear in his face. “Yall just gonna let us get taken?!”
“You will be fine.”
His response only made them even more agitated. Good, they were starting to get on his nerves.
“Where will they be taking us?” Riddle asked, trying to suppress his rage.
“Who is this Judge person?” Deuce added, his blue eyes eyeing weary at the blue Jester who was circling him and Riddle like a shark.
“Better yet, what do you mean by two of us?” Silver spoke up, aurora eyes glaring at the yellow jester. She laughs, her bells jingling along with her. Rollo sighs, then steps aside. “Take whoever you want, but do so with haste. Or we will be late.”
“Oh shoot! Right you are Mr. President!” Clapping her hands, she points at the purple jester and red jester. “Let’s hurry! We mustn't make our dear judge wait!” And with a snap of her fingers, purple and blue jester lunged at Idia while red and green jester lunged at Neige.
It all happened in a blink of an eye.
Without having any time to cast a single spell, Idia was already being carried like a sack by the purple jester, a scream so loud pierced the town square where they all were standing. The blue jester mumbled the familiar incantation and in an instant, whatever spell Idia had thought of using vanished.
Neige also led out a loud squeal as the red jester carried him bridal style as the green jester did the exact same thing as the blue jester. And in quick fast jumps, they all landed where the yellow jester was. The rest of the students screamed the names of the other two, ready to lunge at the hunters when in a fluid and elegant motion, the yellow jester moved her hand into the air and just like they made their grand entrance, purple smoke blinded them momentarily.
The echo of their laughter was all they could hear as the two students that had come with them vanished alongside the hunters. Huffing, Rollo put away his handkerchief and casted a quick wind spell, airing out all the purple smoke. The hunters were long gone, only a yellow and black handkerchief left behind. Once everything was clear, he turned to face the remaining students.
“What the hell was that?!” Exclaimed Epel, eyes trained on Rollo angrily. “And what was with letting them take Idia and Neige?!”
“We have to go and rescue them!” Exclaimed Deuce. “Are they in any kind of trouble? They mentioned a judge, and by the looks of it, you seemed to know who it was.” Added Riddle, gray eyes staring at where Idia had been standing. “Do not fret, they are fine.” He finally said, “Let us go to the battle arena before we miss the opening ceremony.”
“And what about Neige and Idia?” Azul points out, he still looked frazzled about the whole ordeal. “Why were they even dressed like that?” Grim grumbled from where he was in Yuu’s arms. Both the magicless human and cat monster had decided to hide behind the statue of the fair judge until the cost was clear. Not that Rollo blames them, for the years he had stayed here, not once had he been picked.
And it was mostly because he either sacrificed someone, or hid very well so they weren’t able to grab him. Much like now.
“As I have said, they are fine. No harm will come to them,” He began walking towards the battle arena. Jules and Eliott to his left and right. “Now I suggest we hurry unless you wish to miss the opening ceremony.” Jules turns to face them, an apologetic (Rollo knows that it was a mocking smile) smile on his lips. “Worry not, I will explain who they were and why they took your two companions as we make our way to the battle arena.”
That seemed to put most of them at ease. Chenya smiles, eyes flashing with interest as he makes his way to Jules and wraps an arm around his neck. “Oh, now this just sounds like something mew would like to hear.”
‘Great Seven, please help me keep my sanity’
Shaking his head, Rollo leads the group to the opening ceremony.
_____
If heaven was on earth, it was at this very moment. When they had announced for the Equestrian Club to make their entrance, Rollo’s eyes had immediately searched for you in the crowd of yellow dresses and suits. Once they landed on you, the world seemed to blend in the back as he watched you throughout the whole first half of the performance.
The way you seemed to guide Snowflake in elegant movements following your fellow clubmates left him breathless. The smile on your lips, shine in your eyes, and little waves you did for the crowd had his eyes glued to you. He fiddled with his magic ring, finding it grounding him as he continued to observe you.
Slplitted into two teams of five, he watched as you and four others ran the horses and jumped obstacle courses. The other group of five would trout around the edge, waving at the crowd while handling flowers and bead necklaces.
From the corner of his eyes, he could see how Riddle, Silver, and Sebek stared at the group who was performing elaborate tricks in amazement. “Wow…I didn’t know they could be maneuvered in such a way.” Said Silver in amazement, aurora eyes following one of the riders. Riddle nods in agreement, “Most of what we do is focused on racing other than performing arts.”
Sebek didn’t say anything, but his electric yellow eyes kept trailing behind one of the riders, interested in them as he saw how they did another high jump. Malleus hums, interest flashing in his green eyes as he keeps a close eye on the riders handing out flowers. Rollo gave a suitable nod to one of the riders, who understood immediately as she galloped towards them.
“Welcome to the City of Flowers! May your visit here be one to remember!” Handing Azul, Jamil, Ruggie, and Riddle a red rose, she made her way towards Deuce, Silver, Malleus, Yuu, and Grim. “Here you go! A flower to represent an everlasting friendship.” Each one of them got a yellow rose. After she finished handing them one, she moved on to the next group.
“Rollo, we got word of the last guest that was supposed to be the chaperon for both NRC and RSA.” Whispered Eliott to his right, a tablet in his hands. Pulling away from your figure, he gestures at him to continue. “He will be arriving in around ten to twenty minutes, there has been a delay with his trip but he should be able to make it before the ceremony comes to an end.”
Profesor Mozus Trein, he had volunteered to be the chaperon for both schools, however, he couldn’t be there when Rollo had gone to greet the students. Apparently, he had some issues with his familiar that he couldn’t ignore. “When did you receive the notification?”
“About twelve minutes ago.” Eliott responded after checking his tablet. Rollo nods, “Send one of the members from the student council to go wait for him at the magic mirror. It shouldn’t be long before he arrives.”
“Alright, I’ll send Catherine then.” Typing away in his tablet, Eliott turned to Jules and began discussing the next planned events they had for their guests. Rollo went back to look at you, however, he noticed that someone else had their eye on you.
Malleus Draconia
The fae prince had a small gentle smile (it would have looked sadistic to anyone else) as he gazed at you. Something aching to tenderness flashed in his deep green eyes. Rollo felt himself sneer and quickly covered his lower face with his handkerchief. Something ugly twisted in his chest, it made him feel bitter.
Suddenly, your eyes met him and you beamed at him like you always have. And in an instant, the feeling vanished as it was replaced with gentle warmth. You raised your hand, excitedly waving at him, the sun casting warm rays to your face, illuminating your natural beauty even further. He felt himself smiling like a fool, and without even noticing, he had raised his hand in a half waive.
That seemed to boost up your energy as your face flushed pink and a dazzling smile covered your face in pure joy. Guiding Snowflake towards the other set of obstacles, he watched as you ran with your other four clubmates, more energy in each movement than before.
Someone hummed cheerly in his left ear, startling him. Turning to face the cause of the sound, he almost shrieked as the floating head of Chen'ya greeted him. The cat beastman chuckles, a smile too wide for his face breaks out as the rest of his body appears before him. “Why dear president~ I had no clue you had a lover performing. I wonder, is that why you were in such a hurry to get us here?”
Something about the tone Chenya used was getting on his nerves. It may have been the teasing tilt or the obvious mockery, either way Rollo didn’t like it. Glaring at the cat, he simply turns to face the performance. “She is simply a friend of mine, it’s her first time performing and she wanted me to be here.”
“Mmm, my, my, friends?” Leaning in further, the purple haired boy hums. “Are you sure that is all you feel for the little birdy?”
“I don’t know what you are insinuating.”
Leaning back, the cat gives him a shit eating grin. “I am just saying, if you don’t act quick, a little dragon may steal that birdy from you.” At the implication, Rollo feels a wave of anger hit him. Before he could respond back, Riddle had reached forwards and pulled Chenya by the collar of his sweater. “Chenya! What have I told you about instigating fights?!”
The cat laughs, “Sorry, sorry, I just wanted to have a nice little chat with the president.” He looked anything but sorry. Frowning, he gave the boy a pointed look. “I would appreciate it if you don’t stick your nose where it doesn't belong.” His voice was so cold that it even startled Riddle.
“I apologize on his behalf, Rollo. I will make sure this doesn't happen again.” Pulling the boy away from the white haired boy, Riddle once again offers another apology and walks away with Chenya, scolding him about manners.
“Honestly, who does he think he is…” He mumbles slowly under his breath. Huffing, he goes back to watching the performance, yet the words Chenya spoke to him bounced inside his mind. Without thinking, he glances towards Malleus. The fae was staring at another rider, but his eyes flickered to you every once in a while.
Shaking his head, Rollo tried to rationalize that Malleus simply looked at you like that because he may have never seen people perform with horses until today. He reeked of child amazement the longer he looked at the performers.
Nothing more, nothing less.
_____
Blot, blot, blot…
Staggering at the sudden vision, you lean on Snowflake for balance. The horse huffs as if concerned and stops moving once you reach the stables. Blinking away the blurriness, you swore you had seen black ink drop right in front of you and into a puddle.
“What the hell…” You mumbled, head feeling a little fuzzy. “Hey, you alright [name]?” Asked one of your clubmates. Her blue eyes glancing at you with worry. Giving her a strained smile, you nod. “Yeah, just a little thirsty. Don’t worry, I will get some water before the last performance.” She doesn't look convinced but nods nonetheless.
Guiding Snowflake into one of the stables with water, you leave him there and go to your changing room in order to take a break before the next performance.
_____
Yuu blinks away the wave of dizziness he suddenly has. Grim yelps as he is almost dropped to the ground the moment Yuu stagers forward. Deuce, who was next to him, manages to steady him before he could fall to the ground. “Whoa! You alright?!” Asked his blue haired friend, eyes glancing at him with concern.
Epel helps him settle Yuu in one of the nearby chairs, his baby blue eyes looking just as concerned as he felt. Waving them away, he gives them his best convincing smile. “I-I’m fine, it's probably just the heat of the sun mixed with the excitement of the crowd.”
It wasn’t the full truth, but he couldn’t tell them why he had almost fainted. Deuce and Epel share a look, “Have you gotten enough sleep prefect?” Said Deuce, eyeing him cautiously. “Or did you barely sleep because of the excitement of going on this trip?” Added Epel while giving him the same look.
“He actually woke up pretty early.” Grim finally spoke from his position on the ground. Both boys turn to look at him and Yuu glances away with a wince. He had another weird dream, the usual ones he had when someone was about to overblot. He had tried to piece it together to figure out who may be the next victim.
But the dream didn’t fit anyone on campus.
And now that he had another vision, this one showing the blot accumulation, he was sure that the person who would overblot wasn’t from his school or RSA. His brown eyes glanced at Rollo, Jules, and Eliott. The three of them huddled in a circle, looking at something Eliott was showing them. Yuu had a hunch that this time, the victim was going to be one of them.
And if his hunch was correct, it may be Rollo.
Yuu had no clue what Chenya had told the third year, but it must have struck a nerve if even Riddle flinched at the tone Rollo had used. No one had seen the interaction, and Yuu had only managed to witness it when he noticed that Chenya and Riddle were not next to him as they had been moments prior.
“Yeah…I was excited for the trip and ended up waking earlier than planned. I couldn’t go to sleep after that.” Yuu laughed awkwardly as he rubbed the back of his neck. Epel shook his head, “Ya need to take care of yourself prefect.” Yuu chuckles but nods along.
Looking towards the left, he sees Malleus looking at the place where the performance had taken place. A far away look in his green eyes. He wondered what he was thinking about. Shrugging, he went back to focusing on Deuce and Epel, both talking about the tricks the horses had done.
Yuu prayed that he was wrong about the next blot victim.
____________________________________________________________
Info on the event:
In this au, the festival has a tradition in where five different color jesters will appear and take two people before the opening ceremony begins
The five color jesters are called hunters
The judge mentioned is not related to Frollo, it will make more sense once I post the other chapter as to why they call the reader 'judge'
In case you haven't figured it out, yes Rollo will be overblotting
Neige and Chen'ya will be more included in this au
Eliott and Jules like tormenting people
Fun fact, did yall know that Frollo's horse's name was Snowball, I decided to use that in my favor

Until I Found You, Pt. 5
Tumblr media
[Pt. 1], [Pt. 2], [Pt. 3], [Pt. 4], [Pt. 5], [Pt. 6]
Warning: F!reader, little but of angst, mentions of Rollo's brother, will have a scene from the movie 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' but at the very beginning, nothing to detailed. long shopping trips, fluff
Characters: Rollo, Eliott (Oc), Jules (Oc), characters from 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame', one or two random Oc's
Summery: With only a day left for the week long festival to begin, you go help Rollo with a few last minutes preparation along with buying outfits for the closing ball. However, a weird vision leaves you perplex and worried.
______________________________________________________________
Where were you? One moment you had been chatting with Rollo as you helped him plant a few purple flowers in preparation for the Masquerade. The next, you found your mind drifting into a hazy enclosure, bringing you here, standing in what seemed to be the City of Flowers but older. You could see the Bell of Salvation in all its glory, even the familiar path you took with Rollo to go into the city was there.
Frowning, you tried to move your body, but it remained stuck in the same place. You couldn’t even speak or call out to anyone. Suddenly, the image of the city shifted to the inside of the Bell Tower, where you and Rollo ate breakfast every day.
To your surprise, this time, someone was there in contrast to when you first appeared into the gray and white City of Flowers. It was a young man, he had a hunched back and it was clear he looked different from other people you have met. He was wearing a tunic of sorts, hair cut in a way that covered his face with his bangs. He was gazing at the city below, a whimsical smile on his face.
You smiled at that, it was nice seeing others appreciate the city you have grown to love.
But just as quick the smile went away when a man, older from what you could tell, walked into the room. His face was contorted in a permanent scowl, as if he had taken a bite out of a lemon and the taste never left. Immediately you felt something off about him.
“Remember what I taught you, Quasimodo. You are deformed.”
“I am deformed.”
“And you are ugly”
“And I am ugly.”
Anger formed in your chest, the way this man was talking to the other boy, Quasimodo was just horrible. But no one deserved to be treated this way, especially for things that they had no control over. Everyone was different in their own ways, but that didn’t make them worth any less then others.
Once again you tried to speak, but your mouth would not do so, even your body remained motionless. You could only watch helplessly as Quasimodo was berated. Just as the older guy finished, the black and white images in front of you once again became hazy. A wave of dizziness took over your body, causing you to stagger forward and into a pit of darkness.
___
“{name]...[name]....[name!]”
Snapping your eyes open, you gasp in surprise. The colorful flowers and banners greeted your sights instead of the gray and blacks from before. Just beyond, you could see the Bell Tower, no sight of Quasimodo. The familiar cool hands you have come to welcome pull you out of your thoughts.
Green invades your vision, worried eyes stare at you for a moment, the flowers that Rollo had been planting momentarily forgotten. “[Name], are you alright? You were staring into empty space for a while.” He asked, holding your shoulders in a gentle grip. Swallowing the lump on your throat, you nod meekly.
“Y-Yeah, just thinking about something…” You trailed off, not knowing what else to say. Rollo frowns, worry begins showing into his face more clearly. He places the palm of his hand to your forehead, “You don’t feel warm, can you stand up?” You nodded, and with his help rose to your feet. “Let’s go inside and take a break, I can always send someone else to take care of this.”
It wasn’t heat that affected you, this you knew because you weren’t even wearing the school’s uniform. Because of the warm day, you decided to just wear the gym’s uniform much like Rollo was doing now. The gym uniform allowed you to keep cool and not overheat.
“I’m fine Rollo, really, just a little disoriented. It’s been a while since I came outside properly.” You try to give him one of your usual smiles, but you can tell it isn’t working. He still looks worried, something in your chest flips. “I’ve been cooped up in my room for almost the entire week trying to finish off Prince Malleus’s costume, just this morning I managed to finish his hat.”
“You should have told me if it was going to take you this long to finish, I would have sent over people to help you.” You shake your head, “It’s fine! I volunteer for the job anyways! Plus, the important thing is that I finished it on time.” Pulling his purple handkerchief out of his black pant pockets, Rollo covers the lower part of his face.
“You should not put your health at risk for someone like Draconia,” Then, he takes a piece of your hair and fiddles with it. “Take care of yourself, I know I have told you this more than once but please be careful, things here aren't the same as they were in your old world.” Placing the piece of hair behind your ear, he sighs.
You pressed your lips together, should you tell him what you saw? You wanted to but, you also weren’t sure how he would react to it. Heck, you didn’t even know what it was or what it meant. For all you knew, it could be just your tired mind playing tricks on you. Taking hold of his hand before he fully pull away, you grasp it into both your hands and really give him a genuine smile.
“I’m fine Rollo, really. I just needed to catch fresh air and as I mentioned, I was just thinking about the festivities and let my mind drift away.” Giving a gentle squeeze, you let go and crouched down to pick up the flowers you were planting earlier. Rollo stays quiet, a light blush on his cheeks which you right off as the heat of the sun has its effects on him.
“C’mon, let's finish planting these flowers so we can spend the rest of our Sunday choosing a costume for the Masquerade ball. I wanna be able to hang out with Jules, Eliott, and you.” Digging a fresh hole for the flowers, you hum in delight. You hear how Rollo sighs but follows your steps.
The vision you saw nagging at the back of your mind.
_____
Frowning, you sigh and shake your head. No, that one didn’t fit at all. Placing the dress back you keep browsing the gown section. Rollo was a few feet away with Jules as both of them looked at different Masquerade outfits. Eliott was with you, he had already selected his outfit and was currently helping you choose a dress.
After the two of you finished planting the flowers, you insisted on taking a quick shower in order to go to the city’s boutique with Jules and Eliott to pick a costume for the ball. Now the four of you found yourselves here, spending the rest of your Sunday evening before being flooded with duties tomorrow with the welcoming ceremony and performances.
Tomorrow was the start of the one week celebration that ended with a Masquerade Ball to end it. You were a little nervous, after all, this was your first Masquerade, not just here at NBC but in your entire life. You may be the daughter of famous people, but they hardly let you go out anywhere.
And even if you could, you had no friends to go with.
“So, enjoyed your little date with Mr. President?” Startled, you turn to glare at Eliott who had a shit eating smirk. “Fuck! Don’t sneak on me like that!”
“Language.” Rollo’s warning voice is directed to the two of you, his eyes looking at the two costumes Jules is holding. You don’t need him looking towards your direction to know he is directing that more towards you. You chuckle nervously and nod, even if he didn’t see it, and turn back to Eliott.
“We didn’t have a date. I saw him planting flowers by himself and decided to be a good student and friend by helping him.” You stated, crossing your arms over your chest. Eliott continued to smirk, clearly not believing you.
“Sure, whatever you say Mrs. Flamm.”
You hit him with one of the hand fans nearby. Face full-blown red, you casted a look over your shoulder to ensure that Rollo and Jules were facing the other direction before hitting Eliott again, this time harder. “Shut it! I don’t need him to hear that!”
“Aw, c’mon [name]! It’s so clear you both like each other!”
“Just because I like him doesn't mean he shares those feelings!”
Rollo saw you as a friend, you were sure of it. He was open about his emotions to not only you but to also Jules and Eliott. You were no special exception, plus, from what Jules told you; Rollo didn’t have any other friends other than the two of them before coming here. You had been added into his circle because he was helping you in your stay in Twisted Wonderland.
It had not been intentional to fall for him. At the beginning you saw him as a good classmate, someone who was responsible and was willing to help you despite not knowing who you were. Then you started to see him as a friend, someone you could count in despite him being busy with his own stuff. He always lended a helping hand and never asked for anything in return.
You didn’t know when you started to think of him as more than a friend. You had no clue when admiring his skills turned into admiring him in general. Or how you would wait for him to walk to class, eat together, even borrowing his sweaters and shirts.
Eliott groaned, “Great Seven, you have that lovey dovey look on your face.” He pokes your cheek, “You only get that look on your face when talking or thinking of Rollo.” Swatting his hand away, you sigh and go back to the dresses. A minute goes by and you believe Eliott has dropped the subject as he is typing on his phone.
“Alright that's it!” Grabbing your arm, the peach haired color boy pulls you towards a section farther from the one Rollo and Jules were in. “W-What are you doing?!” From the corner of your eyes, you could see Jules do the same thing Eliot was doing, Rollo looking like a startled cat. “I am going to help you with that sad love life of yours! Starting with finding a dress that will leave Rollo’s jaw on the ground!”
“What?!”
And you were whisked away with no say in the situation at all.
The next two hours or two were spent with Eliott throwing dresses your way, approving of some and disapproving of others. A worker even had to come and help you at a certain point with all the dresses Eliott had chosen. Your feet were sore from standing up, and you were hungry. You had once wished to know the feeling of going on a shopping spree with a friend, now you are not so sure if you wanted to do it again.
Pinching your nose bridge, with your index finger and thumb, you let out an irritated huff. “Hold still, I need to check if this color goes well with your skin tone.” Eliott placed a dress next to your body, humming while deep in thought. “Sometimes I forget that you were a former member of the Fashion club.” You said tiredly. He gives you a grin, “Former president of the club dear.”
“Yeah, yeah…are we almost done?”
“Nope.”
You groaned. Your fingers itched to grab your phone and call Rollo for help. Surely, he has noticed your lack of absence by now. Glancing towards the right corner of the boutique, your gaze landed on a purple dress close to the window display. Eliott had gone to return the blue dress he had pulled from the nearby rack. “Excuse me, can you bring me that dress over there?”
The worker looked to the direction you were pointing and nodded with an excited smile. “My, what an excellent choice you made! I will go fetch it for you in a moment dear!” The worker, a lady who seemed to be in her late twenties, walked with a hop to her step towards the dress. Something about the dress called to you, maybe it was the purple skirt or the corset.
“Here you go, miss!” By the time the lady had come back, Eliott had returned, in his hands he had another dress that he immediately discarded in one of the nearby racks and gently took the dress the lady had gotten for you. “This one! Oh, this is the one!” Without a moment's notice, he shoved you into one of the changing rooms with the dress.
With a huff, you sigh and roll your eyes before looking at the gown in your hands. The fabric was silky and very beautiful. The purple wasn’t too bright or too dull, it was just perfect. Once more, you took off your clothes and began slipping into the dress. You gasp in how easy it was to put it on, the material taking the shape of your body.
For one, the dress didn’t feel rough or itchy.
Looking at yourself in the mirror, you could only stare in amazement. The dress really fit you, it made you look different. “Do you need help zipping the dress dear?” The lady asked from outside the changing room. Looking away, you call back. “Yes please!” In fluid motions, the lady enters and gives you another smile.
Closing the curtain behind her, she tells you to turn around and pulls up the zipper. “There! And look at you!” Once more, you gaze into the mirror and can’t believe that the person standing in front of it is you. “Let’s go show it to your friend.” She pulls you along, albeit a lot gentler than Eliott.
“Wow…” Is the first thing Eliott says, his eyes wide in shock. You glance away, feeling flustered with all the staring. Fiddling with the dresses’ sleeves, you do a mini twirl. “So, does this fit your fancy?” You ask jokingly. Eliott nods, a big and bright smile on his lips. “This one is the one!” Taking you by the hand, he twirls you again.
You giggle, content that your friend managed to find a dress for you. Even though you would have been fine with any dress. “Alright, we will be taking this dress ma’am!” Eliott says to the lady. “Very well, when you are ready, take it to the front then.” And with that, she takes her leave with a content smile. “Does this mean we are done?” You asked hopefully.
Eliott grins, “Nope! We still need to buy other accessories and shoes!”
You let out a defeated groan.
_____
“This is the first and last time I ever go shopping with Eliott…” You grumbled, biting into the tender chicken. Rollo sighs tiredly, the cup of coffee he had ordered halfway done. After another hour of looking for shoes, jewelry, and a mask to go with the dress, the four of you were done for the day. “You were the one who wanted to bring them.”
“Yeah, well I thought it would have been a fun shopping trip. Not us turning into mannequins.” Leaning back onto the chair of the booth, you stretch your tired and sore legs. Great seven, the amount of high heels you had to try on before setting on a silver pair had you crying on the inside.
“And to top it off, Jules and Eliott ran off with our outfits!” You continued to rant. Your two so called friends had made sure to pay for the costumes at different times so you wouldn’t see what the other chose. Then after they were all in the boxes, they ran off spouting some bullshit about doing a last minute errand. “When I see that peach-haired bastard I will kick his ass until next week.”
Rollo chuckles weakly, and wow, he must be running low on energy if he didn’t even reprimand you because of your language. Not that you blamed him, after a long day of shopping, the both of you decided to stop at Rollo’s favorite restaurant and eat before going back on campus. The food was your reward for such a long and exhausting day. Finishing the rest of your food in silence, you let your mind wonder about the activities planned tomorrow.
“You will be welcoming the people from NRC and RSA tomorrow right?” You asked, Rollo nods, a new cup of coffee in his hands. “Yes, Jules and Eliott will be accompanying me.” That means that you wouldn’t be able to have your usual routine of breakfast and morning walk. “Guess we won’t be able to see each other until the afternoon.” Maybe it had been your tiredness or just the excitement running through your body that gave you the courage to lay your head on his shoulder.
Rollo stiffened, but relaxed after a few seconds. Hesitantly, he held your hand, his cup of coffee on the table. “Hey…can I join you guys in showing the guests around?” Rollo hums, “Don’t you have to perform the welcome and opening ceremony?”
“Well, yeah, but I mean after I do that. I won’t have anything to do after the performance and I don’t feel like going to the food stands or playing the local games without you or the other guys.” Pressing your cheek against his shoulder, you take a peek at him. “Plus, I wanna meet Yuu and Grim.”
Placing his hand on top of your head, he gives you a gentle pat. “Very well, once you finish with the welcome and opening ceremony we will wait for you at the entrance of the battle arena.”
“Why would you wait for me there?”
His lips quirk up just a bit, “Because the first place I will take the guests is to the battle arena to see the performances.” You let his words sink in, your tired mind slowly processing the information he was giving you. “Ah! Right! The whole point of calling it a welcome ceremony is because we are trying to make them feel welcome and the opening ceremony is to officially begin the week-long celebration.” Dear lord, you must be tired as hell if you managed to forget that small yet important piece of information. Grumbling under your breath, you leaned in further into Rollo.
The third year boy stayed still, his green eyes on your figure. Fondness in his eyes as he watched your eyelids flutter shut, the activities of today taking their toll on you. Pulling you close to him, he gazes out of the window of the booth you sat in. Tomorrow would be Monday, the official start of the week-long celebration of the Masquerade.
Meaning that Malleus Draconia will be there.
At this, he frowns. He would have preferred it if you wouldn’t join him on touring the City Of Flowers to the guests. Just the thought of Draconia being near you along with those hooligans from NRC and RSA made him shiver in disgust. When it came to magic, he didn’t like it when it was near you.
But he wouldn’t prevent you from wanting to learn more about it. Rollo isn’t the type of person that oppressed others just because he didn’t like something. Looking back to your sleeping face, he felt a pinch of guilt. He knew that what he was about to do on the day of the ball would hurt you. Not physically, but you would feel betrayed. And while that also hurt him, he just couldn’t let it go.
The image of his brother, crying for help as he reached out towards him was engraved into his memory. During dark nights, he would stay awake, not being able to sleep without his face appearing in his dreams. He had vowed to get justice for what happened to him, starting by eradicating the very thing that killed him.
Something that could also kill you.
He will do what he has to do in order to protect you, even if it means hurting the city he has grown to love. And maybe you will hate him, resent him for his actions, but that was fine. As long as you lived in a safe world, then everything was fine.

Until I Found You, Pt. 4
Tumblr media
[Pt. 1], [Pt. 2], [Pt. 3], [Pt. 4], [Pt. 5], [Pt. 6]
Warning: F!Reader, Spoilers to the Masquerade events, a few curse words, fluff, reader having slight anxiety
Characters: Rollo, Eliott (oc), Jules (oc), Malleus (Mentioned), Grim (mentioned), Yuu (mentioned)
Summery: After your discussion with Rollo, you go back to your routine along with the task you offered to help in. As you finalize the last invitation, talk about the week long festival pops up, making you realize your feelings for a certain third year may be more than just simple friendship.
Info of some of the subjects talked about in this chapter: As I had mentioned in the first chapter, I will be adjusting the whole masquerade event so it first with the story line I am planning. For starters, the masquerade is an event held for an entire week which will end in a ball. This week long event is held around the time winter break ends, basically all six boys will have already went through their overblots, except Malleus.
“The letter was very well written, all I did was check for grammar and spelling. But other than that, you did well.”
You beamed at the praise Rollo gave you. It had been three days since you talked things through and settled in an understanding. The aftermath had been rather calm as the Headmage understood your request and began looking into families that may be able to take you in along with helping you form an identity. He even allowed you to continue your studies at NBC, much to your surprise and delight.
“That’s good! I had to re-write it multiple times. I even searched up how to speak to fae royalty as reference.” Jules chucked from the corner of your room. He was settled in your work table as he typed away in his computer, inputting the last bookings for the guest you finished yesterday. “Knowing you, you also probably searched for how they spoke to royalty.” Eliott laughs and you scoff, feeling a little embarrassed.
Rollo simply huffs in amusement as he hands you another piece of golden thread, to which you thank him. Placing the needle in-between your lips, you rolled your eyes at the antics of your friends. It was Friday and since most of the preparations were done for the Masquerade happening on Monday, Eliott and Jules decided to spend their free time in your dorm room.
Rollo had come along to let you know that the invitation you wrote had been approved and that it would be sent tomorrow. “I gotta say though, you managed to finish the other two Masquerade costumes in two days yet you still are working on the one for Prince Malleus.” Added Eliott, who was sitting on your bed with his book open. You huff and gestured for Rollo to pass you one of the green gems in your work table next to Jules’s laptop. “The only reason I managed to finish the other two so soon was because they were easier to make and dressing them in over the top costumes wouldn’t fit their aesthetics.”
With full concentration, you began sowing the green gemstone right where the chest is located. “For Grim, I decided on a pair of boots, a hat, a cape, a traditional black mask, and last but not least a black belt. All of those may seem simple but they bring out his cuteness.” Doing a small knot, you cut off the golden thread with the scissors the white haired boy offered you.
“And for Yuu, I did a set of dark blue pants that fit around the Renaissance era back in my world along with a shirt to match and a cape that would match Grim’s cape. As for the boots and mask, they all bring out his charms. The hat is meant to add an air of mysteriousness to him much like how Grim’s own costume is meant to portray his cuteness.”
Stepping back, you allowed yourself to get a full view of the costume. Majority of the outfit was done, the more complex designs were done in gold thread that you used the sewing machine Rollo brought for you so as to not struggle much. The boots accompanying the outfit were also done and ready to go.
“Rollo, can you pass me the cape I have hanging in my closet please?” He hums, and goes to your closet. Tilting your head to the side, you busied yourself with fixing the clothes on the mannequin, straightening any wrinkles that may appear. “Here you go [name].”
Giving him a smile and a small thanks, you gently took the coat off his hands and placed it over the mannequin’s shoulders. Clasping the golden chains onto the golden collar, you made sure none of it was tangled. Fixing the black feathers in the shoulders and spreading the cape flawlessly on the back, you did some last minute adjustments before allowing yourself to step back.
“Would you look at that?” Jules let out a low whistle as his red eyes admired the almost finished Masquerade costume. “Wow girl, you managed to outdo yourself! I don’t think even the Fashion club would have been able to pull this off.” Eliott added as he examined every angle of the costume. You laughed, pride swelling in your chest. “I am lucky enough to have managed to do this much in only three days, well four if you count that one time I pulled an all nighter to finish the pants.”
Rollo stayed quiet, his eyes scanning the outfit with sharp interest. He circled the mannequin in the middle of your room, like an inspector checking for any flaws. You watched him carefully, eyes focused on his face in order to see if his poker expression changes.
“Well done.” Then, stepping next to you, Rollo grabs your hand and inspects your bandaged fingers with a small grimace. You smile, even more happy with the result of your hard work. “Don’t worry about my fingers. I mostly used the sewing machine for the harder parts. The only time I used my fingers was when I needed to add last minute details.” Rollo gives you an unamused expression.
But he didn’t let go of your hand, and instead, tangled your fingers together. Smiling, you squeeze his hand and turn to face your masterpiece. “All I need to do is finish the hat which will be the hardest part but I will be done with it before the day of the ball.”
“Then take a break, you spend most of your day shut in this room trying to finish.” Said Rollo, eyes eyeing you with fondness. “Rich coming from you, I can hardly pull you out of your dark cave to get more sun.” You said back, a small smirk on your face. Eliott snorts, flipping another page in his book. “True, but you'd be surprised how often he has been outside this past week. Even more than you do on a daily basis.”
Jules hums in agreement, the typing of his boardkeys echoing in your room. “Even taking up a hobby in gardening.” At this, you turn to face Rollo. “Is that true?” You asked. Rollo covers his face with his purple handkerchief, but you could see his ears turn pink. “I decided to take up a destresser as you call it, when I need to distract myself from my duties.”
“Aww, how cute of you president!” And just like that, all hell broke loose. Eliott began teasing Rollo, his book long forgotten. Jules was trying to (and failing) to hold in his laughter. You joined in, poking Rollo’s chest as you giggled. In the safety of your room, the four of you could let loose. Rollo didn’t have to keep his image of a perfect student, Eliott would let his wild side out, Jules could laugh out loud without being scolded, and you could join in the fun.
It hadn’t always been like this, and from what you knew, Rollo hadn’t even been close to Jules and Eliott until recently. Some of the students said it was because you put them together, others said it was because they finally had a reason to actually be around each other with no school work or duties behind them. Either way, you didn’t care.
As long as you could see your friends happy and healthy, it was enough for you.
____
Folding the paper gently and with great care, you then placed it in the envelope and handed it to Rollo so he could seal it with the school’s official seal. The fire from the fireplace illuminated the room, casting a warm glow into the table both of you were sitting at. After spending most of your afternoon in your room discussing plans for the Masquerade along with your friends offering some tips for the costume you were making, the four of you decided to go your own way and finish any remaining work you had.
Jules went to give the full report to the Headmage regarding the room bookings for the guest while Eliott made sure that the supplies ordered for every guest had arrived and placed where they were meant to be. You on the other hand decided to take a break from sowing and accompanied Rollo to the student council office to help him finish off any last paper work.
“Can’t believe I managed to write a letter for royalty. Man, that would make an excellent addition to my resume.” You said with a small laugh. Rollo simply shakes his head in mock agitation, a little smile on his lips. Placing the now finished letter on the table to allow the wax to cool down, he turned to look at you.
“Are you going to participate in the opening ceremony to welcome our guest?” He asks, green eyes on your figure. “Yes, since I am part of the Equestrian club, I will be doing a small show as the closing ceremony with a few of my clubmates.”
On top of helping Rollo with his duties, you had to also take care of yours regarding the Masquerade. Every student in NBC was required to participate one way or another in the festivities being held in the city. Whether it was welcoming guests, helping the traffic of people, selling food, or helping with the ball preparations, everyone had a part to play.
The ones in charge of the entertainment were those of the fine arts clubs but once in a while a sports team will join in. It just so happened that this year was the Equestrian Club’s turn to participate in the entertainment.
Lucky you, you managed to form a great bond with your horse, a beautiful black stallion by the name of Snowflake. “I remember when you first joined the club, you hardly knew how to mount a horse.” Rollo hums in amusement of the memory. You roll your eyes, expression soft. “Yeah, well all the other clubs didn’t appeal to me and while fashion is something I am interested in, it isn’t something I saw myself do for all three years here.”
Plus, the main reason you had wanted to join the club was because of Rollo. But you would never admit that, lord knows Eliott would never let you live it down.
“And plus, I was interested in horse riding and the poster for the club clearly stated that they could teach me if I had zero experience.” Still, it was a little embarrassing being watched by Rollo as you tried to mount a horse only to fail miserably. Rollo chuckles, shaking his head. “You were lucky that Snowflake took a quick liking to you, only the Great seven would have known what would have happened to you if he decided to take you down.”
“In my defense, no one had warned me about Snowflake’s rather temperamental moods.”
“I gave you instructions to wait while I fetch the stable boy.”
The room became silent except for the crackling of the fire.
“Ok, I might have not paid as much attention to your words as I needed to. But! There was no warning sign indicating that Snowflake was not ready to have a rider.”
“There was a clear warning sign on his stable door written in bold red letters.”
Once again, the room became quiet.
With a huff you surrender. “Fine, I ignored all the warning signs! But who could blame me! I was amazed by Snowflake’s beauty!” It had been the first time you had seen a horse up close, especially one so beautiful. You wanted to see if it was easy riding one like in TV shows and movies. Clearly, it hadn’t as you couldn’t even mount him without falling.
“And you made it look so easy to climb one.” You added a pointed look towards Rollo. “I had formed a bond with Snowball since my first year. And even if I don’t ride her as often, she still remains the same.” Snowball is the name of Rollo’s horse. A black, beautiful and elegant mare who also happened to be Snowflake's sister.
“Yeah, yeah, brag all you want Mr. President.” Laughing, you stretched your limbs, a satisfying pop was heard after. “Man, all those preparations for the Masquerade are tiring. Especially the performance I have to do with Snowflake.”
Snowflake had been hard to tame for the most part, he was stubborn and seemed to have a personality of his own. It had been hard trying to get him to understand most of the tricks but you made it work after two months of working with him. Still, he was rather shy when it came to performing in front of people, which was why when it came to performances you would ride Snowball with Rollo’s permission.
But this time you decided not to, you wanted to give Snowflake a chance. Even if getting him used to performing for a crowd was hard, you managed to get him out of his stage fright little by little by having other students observe while you practiced.
“How far along are you with the performance? I heard from the club president that you will be performing with a group first then by yourself.” Rollo said as he stood up from his chair and began preparing some tea on the small portable stove. You sigh and lean back into your chair. “It’s been nerve wracking if I’m being honest. I am used to having peoples’ eyes on me but doing something I enjoy while being watched is another thing.”
You could handle being judged on your so-called other talents, but this one was something you loved to do other than fashion. You wanted to show everyone in the city an amazing performance, one that will make your school proud to have you as a student.
“You will do well, I have seen you do both of your performances and they are flawless. Much better than when you first started, that is for sure.” He said as he placed a steaming cup of tea in front of you. You said a small thanks and took a sip after blowing on it. Then paused and turned to look at him. “Were you there to watch me practice those few times?”
You didn’t recall if Rollo ever showed up to your practices since they always started around the time he needed to go to the student council after school meetings. Maybe he managed to get a peek on his way to the Bell Tower?
“Eliott took several videos and sent them to me. I have to say [name], I never thought I would see someone fall and land on their legs like a scared cat after attempting the first part of the routine.”
You felt your face burning in embarrassment, “That was one time!” You placed the cup of tea down while trying to cover your face with your hands. “I didn’t think you would see that!”
“Well you can thank Eliott, he is the one who sends me the videos.”
“Of course it was Eliott,” Gritting your teeth, you grumble in misery. Can’t believe Eliott would betray your trust like that, especially when he knew about your crush on Rollo. At that, you paused your pity party, eyes widened in shock.
Crush…?
“If it makes you feel better, he also sent me the ones where you perform excellently and without an issue.” His voice sounded like it was underwater. You still had your mind stuck on the fact that you just realized now that you had a crush on Rollo. Was that why Eliott always teased you about spending time alone with the third year? Or why he would make an effort to make sure Rollo and you ended up alone in the same room?
The blush on your face turned even hotter, you were sure your ears had turned a bright shade of red. There was no way you had feelings for Rollo other than friendship, right? But then, why did you get so flustered when he praised you? Eliott and Jules always do it and yet you never got like that with them.
How about the times Rollo would accompany you early in the morning and late at night for a walk before going your own ways? You honestly thought that little flip your heart did was because you got to hang out with him as friends.
And those moments where he would teach you how to ride your horse, he pressed behind you as he taught you how to handle the reins. The way his chest was pressed on your back, his voice deep and low in your ear as he leaned his chin towards your shoulder. Or how his cool skin would touch your clammy one whenever you got nervous.
“Are you alright [name]?”
Looking at him, you gazed into his piercing green eyes and yep, you were definitely a goner. Because how could anyone not fall for those beautiful eyes of his? Gulping, you gave him a shaky smile, “Guess I will have to kick Eliott’s ass next time I see him.”
Raising a pale eyebrow, Rollo just shakes his head in exasperation. “Language, truly, what am I going to do with the both of you?” He asked, but there was not an ounce of annoyance in his tone or face. Simple joy that was barely visible in his face if you looked hard enough. Giggling, you nod, a tender smile on your lips as you gazed at the boy who had managed to capture your heart in such a short amount of time.

Until I Found You, Pt. 3
Tumblr media
[Pt. 1], [Pt. 2], [Pt. 3], [Pt. 4], [Pt. 5], [Pt. 6]
Warning: Reader is female, Reader is 18, angst with comfort, panic attack, family issues, reader's parents are hinted to be bad parents
Characters: Rollo, Elliot (Oc), Jules (Oc), Yuu (mentioned), Grim (mentioned)
Summery: After finding out that you are not the only one who got transported into Twisted Wonderland, you don't know how to feel. Especially when NRC has requested to help from NBC in finding a way back to your old world.
______________________________________________________________
Staring at the letter in disbelief, you placed it down on the table and turned to look at the white haired president. “This means…that…I’m not the only one…?” You asked, voice shaky with so many emotions you couldn’t begin to comprehend. Rollo nods in confirmation. “So far we have been able to find many explanations as to why you were transported here. But our library is only going to give us so much.”
You chewed on your lower lip, understanding what he meant. NRC, to your knowledge, was much bigger and certainly more advanced than NBC. They had powerful connections, more books in magic, much more advanced mages that could help you find a way home. And even if NRC hadn’t been able to help this Yuu person, combining forces with NBC, both schools may be able to find a way home for the both of you.
But…you didn’t want to go back.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you did your best to mask the panic you felt. Sure, you wanted to help Yuu find a way home if he still wanted to go. But you wanted to stay, there was nothing for you there. Your parents never wanted to have a child, you came as an unexpected surprise. One they didn’t want but couldn’t get rid off. Their reputation was on the line, and even if they did go to a clinic to get rid of you, it wasn’t a guarantee that it would stay a secret.
They always made sure you knew this.
Right now, they may be putting on a facade of worried parents who want their child back safe and healthy. But you knew that deep down, both of them were enjoying the attention your disappearance brought.
“I will send a letter to confirm their request of inviting both Yuu and Grim as well as their plea for help.” Rollo’s voice became background noise. You tried to pay attention to what he was saying, you knew this was important information. But no matter how hard you tried, the familiar static filled your ears. Even as a warm cup of tea was placed in front of you with some cookies, you couldn’t pull away from your thoughts.
“I also want you to do two more costumes for them and place them on the same wing where we will be placing the NRC and RSA students.” Taking the warm cup of tea in your hands, you took a sip, letting the fragrance on the drink to relax your bones. Still, the fear and anxiety never left your body.
“You understand, right [name]?”
The sound of your name finally pulled you away from your thoughts. Eliott and Jules were staring at you, concern swimming in their eyes. Opening your mouth to answer, to tell Rollo that you in fact didn’t understand, but all you could manage was a small, pathetic whimper. In an instant, Rollo was next to you, you could hear his voice, how he was shouting orders to Eliott and Jules. His cold hands grasp your clammy ones.
Green invaded your sights, and the scent of lilies entered your nose. You could see Rollo’s lips move, but couldn’t hear a single word. The coldness of his hands brought momentarily relief to your clammy skin, but even then, it wasn’t enough to snap you out of your panic.
Closing your eyes, you tried to do the exercises your old therapist taught you. Taking a deep breath in and letting it out. You repeated this action a couple of times, finally feeling the air fill your lungs like it should be. Opening your eyes, you were met with Rollo’s worried expression. This was the most emotion you had seen him show since you began staying here. His eyes were bright, worry and panic swimming in them as he held your hands tightly.
His hat, the one you sometimes liked to steal away in order to make him chase you, was for once, off his head. Because of this, you were able to get a clear image of him, of his face, eyes, hair. Body moving in auto pilot, you reached a hand forward and placed it on his cheek. You felt how he stiffened at the touch, a light blush covering his cheeks.
“I…I can’t..”
Rollo furrowed his eyebrows, “You can’t what?” He asked in a soft tone. You shake your head, tears stinging your eyes. “I can’t…I don’t want to leave Rollo…” His eyes widened, face contouring in shock. “I don’t want to go back…I have no home there.” If you came back, everything would go back the way it was. Your parents would most likely accuse you of running away but paint it as someone kidnapping you to make them seem like concerned parents.
But it will all be the same, you wouldn’t have friends, you wouldn’t be able to go out like you did here, there would be no freedom to do what you wanted for yourself. And worst of all, there would be no Rollo. No more shared breakfasts and lunches, no more nightly strolls, or studying together late at night. No more late night chatter, no more going out into the city together to explore it.
You would lose him.
“Why…” Rollo trailed off, his gaze far away as if he no longer was looking at you. He let you go as if you had burned him, the sudden cut of physical contact startled you. It left you wanting for even a little more, it was your only anchor at the moment. Turning to face the fireplace, the boy clenches his hands onto his robes. He looked pale, far paler than normal. “...Jules, Eliott, escort [name] to her dorm. We are done for the night.”
Pushing yourself off the chair, you staggered towards him, your hand reaching out just like it had done before all those months ago. But Rollo flinched away, his eyes avoiding your figure even when you called out his name. He shakes his head, eyes focusing on the fire burning in the chimney. Eliott was the first one to pull you away from the third-year student president. His warm hands guided you to where Jules was.
You wanted to struggle, and struggle you did. But your body barely had any energy to fight back. It had been months since your last panic attack, which made you forget how often it would leave you without any energy to spend. Slumping onto the two council members, you watched helplessly as they pulled you out of the room.
The last thing you managed to see was Rollo’s shaking figure.
___
“I don’t want to go back…I have no home there.”
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Rollo sighs. He shouldn’t be surprised at your confession. You were always a very vocal person, and in the months he got to know you, you certainly expressed your desire to stay here. Not out right, but he could tell the desire buried in all those rants you had during your late night walks. You may have not noticed it until now, but Rollo had.
And it scared him.
One part of him wanted you to stay, to be here with him. You were the first person he bothered to even get close to. You were his first friend. But the other part of him, the one full of pain and grief wanted you to go back to your world. There you would be safe from magic. You wouldn’t be harmed, and you certainly wouldn't be killed by someone else’s recklessness.
He fooled himself into believing that you wanted to go back to your world. That you would be more than ready to join in order to speed the process. Instead, you claimed you wanted to stay here, to live here and leave your old world behind.
“I don’t want to go back…I have no home there.”
No home…you had told him that in a moment of weakness, you had even dropped hints that your home life wasn’t the best. And yet, he decided not to think too deep into it. Letting out a shaky sigh, he leaned a hand on the side of the fireplace. The fire roared with his emotions, burning so brightly that he could feel the heat the flames emitted.
Glancing back the letter, Rollo clenches his jaw. He couldn’t decide for [name], you had to make that decision. The school would financially support her if she decides to continue her studies here. And they could even find her a foster family where she could stay. And all of that required her consent, something she needed to give when she was completely sure.
Closing his eyes, he tried to relax as much as he could. It’s not that he would order her to leave, he could never do that. But deciding something like this took time to think about. If she agreed and later regretted her decision, then it would be too late to send her back.
“Who am I fooling…” Running a hand through his face, the white haired boy chuckled bitterly. “I do want you to stay…but I can’t let you get hurt…not like he did.” Rollo could still his cries of pain as he reached out to him, calling him out for help. Yet, Rollo wasn’t able to do help, he didn’t know how to fully summon his own magic, and the people who were meant to help him just pulled Rollo further and further away.
What happened if you developed magic of your own? Then what, would you lose control and accidentally kill yourself?
Taking a deep breath, the third year placed his hands on the brick wall, feeling it over until his fingers found the loose brick that has become familiar to him ever since he took the position of student body president. Pulling away the brick carefully, he placed it on the ground and took out a black notebook. It was closed tightly by a singular black string.
Green eyes stared at it for a moment, memories surfacing, ones that he had not thought of in years. Taking the black string off, he opened it, dust covered some of the yellowed pages just like how it had covered the cover. Running his fingers thoughtfully on the entries, he stopped at a certain one.
His eyes scanned the letters, notes he had taken before you came here. He furrowed his eyebrows at the familiar plans he had jotted down, some being scratched out and others being forgotten. Taking a seat on his chair, he continued to flip over the pages, memories of his plan began to surface once more. Right, he had made an elaborate plan during his first year as a student.
All the studying he did while in school and his alone time coming together on the yellowed pages. Rollo had put it on pause for a while, for you had been a hitch to his plan, one he had tried to keep away from this. But now, he had an even greater motivation to complete his plan. Smirking, Rollo chuckles, “Right…this is the answer. This is the only answer!” Another chuckle left his lips, eyes gleaming with joy.
He knew how to make this world safe for you.
___
“Here you go.” Jules held the keys to your dorm towards you, the door wide open, allowing you to step in. Blinking tiredly at the inside, you could see the black pants you had been working on before Rollo requested your presence. A mannequin was in the corner of the room, dressed in a black button down shirt you still had to finish.
“Thank you…” Trailing off, you made a grab for the keys, almost dropping them in the process. Jules placed them on your palm, red eyes looking at you carefully. “Hey, don’t worry too much.” Eliott’s voice rang throughout the empty hallway. “It’s a big decision to make, plus, you have your reasons. We won’t tell you want to do or not to do, but we will be here if you ever need a shoulder to lean on.”
The last part brought a small smile to your face. Looking towards him, you nod. “I’m…sorry. I know you all researched hard in order to help me.” Guilt flooded in your chest. “And all of that for nothing.”
“Don’t be so down!” Exclaimed Jules, his long dark hair flowing with his body movements. “Look at the bright side, with the research we have done, we could lend a helping hand towards NRC.” He adds, a little grin on his face as his red eyes shine with joy. Eliott hums in agreement. “True, plus, you might be able to help Yuu get used to this world and offer moral support.”
Yeah, you could be able to do that. While his experience is different from yours, the two of you shared one similarity. Both were strangers to this magical world. If you had someone like Yuu all those months ago, it would have been easier on you. Sure, Rollo, Jules, and Eliott lend a helping hand whenever you are struggling. But they could never understand how it felt to be dropped into a random universe and expect to know what to do.
And from the sound of it, Yuu seemed to be struggling in how to fully adapt if not, momentarily get used to this world. You weren’t an expert, but you could lend a shoulder to lean on.
“But…what about Rollo?”
At the question, both boys grimace. Jules’s red eyes avoided yours, and Eliott simply shrugged before bouncing back. “President Rollo is hard to read for sure, but I am sure he respects your decision!” Placing a hand on your shoulder, he gives you a gentle squeeze. “He will understand [Name]. He isn’t an oppressive person who forces people to bend his way.”
Eliott was right, Rollo would respect your decision and help you in your stay. But that didn’t shake off the feeling that he was somewhat bothered by it. Swallowing your remaining questions, you gave both of your friends a tight lip smile. “...Alright, I will just talk to him tomorrow when we have a clear mind.”
Stepping into your dorm room, you bid them goodnight and closed the door. Locking it, you leaned on it with a tired sigh. That hadn’t been part of your plan at all. Sure, you wanted to tell Rollo that you wanted to stay here permanently, but not like that. The pressure of finding a way back had been eating at your mind for the last couple of days. It hadn’t been until today that you made the final decision.
And just like always, the universe threw something in your path while laughing at your face. Glancing at the window, you made your way towards it. Pushing the curtains to the side, you allowed for the moonlight to spill all over your dorm. Looking down, you could make out the flower path Rollo and you would take every morning before class started and every afternoon after class ended.
You frowned, you had an idea on how Rollo felt about magic. He didn’t have to be vocal about it, just the way he acted about it gave it away. Did he think you wanted to stay because of magic? You couldn’t even use it unless it was embedded in a magical artifact. And even then, you needed special permission to use one.
Huffing in frustration, you begin walking around your room. For once, you were glad Rollo managed to get you a single dorm room. You could sulk in peace and away from prying eyes to your heart's content. “Fuck…” Opting to just take a seat at your work table, you begin working on the pants again. Your fingers moved skillfully with the needle and thread, perfect stitches that were barely noticeable against the dark cloth.
It didn’t matter anyway, at some point you would have told Rollo about your decision. And what better way to do it other than ripping the bandaid off in one pull. Still, you wished you could have told him later after the Masquerade. That way he wouldn’t have more on his plate. But what could you do, best to wait until tomorrow morning to talk it out.
And if push comes to shove, you could be very persuasive when you wanted to.
A few of his favorite croissants and a nice cup of coffee should make a good start. Grinning, you begin to work with more motivation.
—-
Grumbling under your breath, you did your best to stifle a yawn threatening to escape your lips. Last night you had been so focused on finishing the pants that you completely forgot to rest. By the time you checked the clock, it was already four in the morning. You always met Rollo at the Bell Tower around 6:30 A.M in order to have breakfast and a morning walk.
So you only slept for around one to two hours, which was noticeable by the eyebags you sported. Leaning against one of the stone gargoyles, you rubbed your eyes before wincing. All five of your fingers were bandaged, a result of sewing so late at night. But your stupid determination kept you going even when you repeatedly stabbed your poor fingers. You were lucky enough that no blood got into the pants. It may not be noticeable but you were sure that the fae prince will either be able to smell it or see it despite it almost blending.
“Sheesh, I really should have set a timer…now I am all sleep deprived…” Yawning, your bleary eyes glanced at the stone gargoyle you were leaning on and frowned. “It’s about time we give you guys a wash. I can already see mold forming.” The last time they had been clean was about a week or so ago. Rollo and you had decided to spend the rest of the afternoon cleaning the Bell Tower as it had been the weekend.
And usually you don't clean it very often, only around every two weeks. But last week had been rainy, water had pooled around the top area of the gargoyles along with the Bell Of Salvation. And because this was an old building, the only exit the water had was the gargoyles. But if they were left unattended, then they would grow moldy and that was what Rollo was trying to prevent.
Patting the stone, you sigh, then look at the time on your phone. Rollo was ten minutes late, which was worrisome. He was never late, and if he was being delayed then he would make sure to inform you beforehand. Was he that mad at you? Eliott and Jules had reassured you that the third year was not holding any hard feelings against you. You believed them because they had known him longer than you did.
Were they wrong?
Starting to feel anxious, you began to fiddle with your fingers. The soreness of the wounds made you wince but you didn’t stop. At the very least it offered you some kind of distraction.
“If you keep doing that, you will reopen your wounds.”
The anxiety pooling in your gut vanished as the voice you have been waiting to hear finally arrived. With a jump to your step, you quickly dashed to where Rollo was. You hadn't even heard when he entered the small room. But you put that aside, you were just happy that he wasn’t ignoring you.
“Good morning Rollo!”
“Good morning [name].”
With a smile, you took the brown basket from his hands and placed it on the table, then, from under the table, you took out the small container you packed before leaving your dorm room. You were in luck that one of the girls had baked more than enough croissants last night as dessert for dinner. She had stated that it was fine if you took some as she gave you this teasing grin. Nonetheless, you thanked her and packed four of them. Rollo stared at you, his green eyes cloudy and deep in thought. You could feel his eyes on you the entire time you helped him set up the table but did your best to ignore it.
“Here, one of the girls in my wing made a bunch and I asked if I could take some of the leftovers.” Handing him two croissants, you gave him a shy smile. “I know this won’t make up for me dropping the bomb so early or without any warning but I stand true to what I said. I want to stay.” Rollo glances at the two pastries in your hands, his expression is unreadable.
“...Are you sure?” He finally asked, his voice soft. You nod without hesitation. “I am, I thought about it for a while and it hadn’t been until yesterday that I finally made my choice.” He doesn't move nor does he look away from you. The wind blows into your direction, causing the uniform robes to sway with it. And in a fluid motion, Rollo removes his hat and places it on the table before grabbing the two pastries you were offering.
“Very well, I will deliver the message to the Headmage. As for the information we managed to gather, we will give it to NRC in order to help Yuu.” Then his eyes soften, “And you don’t need to apologize. As long as your decision was made for you and no one else, then there is no problem.”
Relief flooded throughout your whole body, and for the first time since last night, you were able to fully smile. A small laugh left your lips as you threw yourself onto Rollo, embracing him with such strength that it left him breathless. The boy stiffened under your touch, his hands hovering awkwardly over your frame as he did his best not to drop the two croissants.
“I was so worried you were mad at me.” You said, your face on the crook of his neck. “After all the time you spend helping me find a way back, I felt guilty for making you waste your time.” You didn’t see the way Rollo’s face bloomed like a rose in spring, or the way he frowned a bit at the last part of your sentence. “I am not mad, and it wasn’t a waste of time. Even if we don’t get to prepare for your departure, the information we have can serve NRC.”
Placing his free hand on your back, he pulled you close, his face buried onto your hair. “A part of me didn’t want you to go.” At his confession, you squeezed him harder. “But I also didn’t want you to stay just because I wanted you to. I know how you are [name]. You may pretend to be unbiased, but when it comes to people close to you, you tend to choose things that would please them.”
A cool hand ran through your hair, his fingers grasping them as if they were a life line. “So please, tell me, are you absolutely sure you want to stay here?”
“Yes, I am sure Rollo.” You answered without hesitation, unaware of the fate you had set in stone the moment those words left your mouth. You feel the third year nod, a sigh leaving his lips. “Very well then…I will do everything in my power to settle you in then.”
Pulling away, you nod with a bright smile. “Let’s eat before it gets late! I still wanna be able to have our morning walk before class.” Whatever tiredness you had felt was no longer present as your body was filled with energy. Pulling him along, you sat him down and helped him split the food the way you always did.
You were glad to have settled things with Rollo, even if there were some things left unsaid. You weren’t ready to tell him why you wanted to stay despite knowing he wanted to ask. He respected your privacy that much, and for that you were grateful. Once you are ready, you will tell him the full story, and maybe, you will be able to really take the first step into healing without having to feel suffocated.

Until I Found You, Pt. 2
Tumblr media
[Pt. 1], [Pt. 2], [Pt. 3], [Pt. 4], [Pt. 5], [Pt. 6]
Warning: Reader is hinted to have family issues, Reader is female, she is 18 years old since I am assuming Rollo is the same age considering that he is a third year and I wanted them to be around the same age range.
Characters: Rollo Flamm, Eliott Dupont (Vice-president), Jules Monet (secretary), Crowley (mentioned), Malleus Draconia (hinted at/mentioned), Yuu (mentioned), Grim (mentioned)
Summery: You got started on the costume and the other tasks Rollo gave you, however, you had no idea that it would be for a prince. Said prince that Rollo didn't seemed to like at all.
______________________________________________________________
Sewing the black cloth together in order for it to form a shape of pants, you continue to hum a small tune. The piano music coming from your phone (a gift from Rollo) filled the remaining silence in your dorm room. It had been hours since class ended, and only around three to four hours since you visited Rollo in order to get more information regarding the costume. For the remainder of the day, you spend it sketching the costume.
It had taken a while, especially when you weren't certain how to make the hat piece. Glancing at the picture you had for reference, you sigh. You had known what you were getting into the moment you agreed to help Rollo with the last preparations for the Masquerade, however, you didn’t expect that the remaining costume that needed to be made was specifically for a prince.
Staring back at you was a tall boy with raven hair that looked soft to the touch. He had the brightest green eyes you had ever seen, and if you looked closely, you could see that his pupils weren’t like the ones you or anyone else had for that matter. But that hadn't been what called for your attention, no, what was most eye-catching was the pair of horns that grew out of the boy’s head. It had taken you a minute to stop staring at the picture in amazement, to which no one could blame you. You were not only making the prince of Briar Valley a costume, but you were also inviting him on behalf of the school and Rollo.
That was enough to make you start sweating bullets.
Still, putting that aside, you couldn’t get the look of Rollo’s face out of your mind. Something about it bothered you to no end. You had entered the student council room as you always did after school, and as expected, Rollo was the only one there for the moment. Both of you greeted each other and talked about your day like always, but when you had once again asked for a picture of the person you would be making the costume for, Rollo got quiet.
****
“Good afternoon president!” You greeted the white haired boy with a cheery smile. Rollo looked up from his paperwork, an unamused look painted his face at your grand entrance. Entering the room, you placed your belongings on the wooden meeting table and pulled out a notebook and pencil before taking a seat to Rollo’s left.
“Good afternoon [name], how were your classes?”
“The same as usual, thankfully, I managed to finish all my homework during my free period!” Much to your relief your teachers didn’t assign much since the Masquerade was near and much like the students, they also wanted to attend it without having their work hold them behind. “And you?” You asked back. “Similar to you.” He said while pulling out a couple of papers from the black folder he had been reading from before you entered the council room.
“That’s good!” Glancing at the title of the papers you asked him if that was what he was going to assign to you.  “Yes, as I have mentioned this morning, I already took care of sending the other invitation except for one which you would be writing on my behalf.” Handing you the list, your eyes quickly scan the names.
As expected, you don’t recognize any of them. Not really an issue, it’s not like you would be interacting with any of them. However, you paused at a certain name. You felt your eyes widen at the title said name carried. “No way…a prince is going to attend?” You have heard and studied the Kingdoms Twisted Wonderland had, but not once in your life did you think you would be in the presence of royalty.
“Yes, this is a special request. He attends NRC but I felt like it would be meaningful  if the invitation was sent personally.” Rollo said, his eyes holding an unreadable expression. “I won’t be able to write it since I am still working on the vendors allowed for the festivities. So you will be doing that.”
Looking up, you gave him a panicked expression. “Rollo, as much as I have confidence in my own writing abilities, I can’t possibly do this!” Sure, you had sent invitations to big celebrities and idols back home. But this was different! They were people who were the same level as your parents, people who you knew how to deal with and please since it was the same way your parents were pleased.
“I mean, sure, I wrote to celebrities before. Heck, even bigger stars, even more famous than my parents. But not once have I written a letter for royalty, much less a future monarch. What happens if I write something offensive without noticing? Or if I sound too informal for their taste?!” Great seven, now that you looked closer, you saw that he was the prince and future king of Briar Valley.
And if your memory serves you right, Briar Valley is a Fae kingdom. Meaning that they had totally different customs to those of humans. Shit, even the humans from here had different costumes from the ones you had back home! Your hand tightens on the paper, mind overthinking faster and faster.
A cool hand was placed on the back of your neck, startling you out of your despair. Glancing up, your eyes meet Rollo’s green ones. And like always, he was calm and collected, cool as a cucumber. “Calm down [name], just because I won’t be writing it doesn't mean I won't review it before sending it to him.” His soft voice pulled you out even further from the despair you felt. Taking a deep breath, you did your best to control yourself.
His cool hand helped you more than you wanted to admit. But you didn’t complain, it was nice having him help you. His skin was soft, some calluses on his hand. Probably from his time cleaning the Bell of Salvation. Once you seemed calmer than before, Rollo removed his hand, making you miss the physical contact almost immediately.
“Just write as you always have, I will fix any issues that the card may have.” Taking his regular seat at the head of the table, Rollo pulled another paper, this one having the materials each room is to have for their guests. “You will also take some time to order these supplies for each room to fit the guests’ taste while they stay the week here.”
You did your best not to look too long on the supplies needed for the Briar Prince. Instead, you focused on how much of each thing would each room need and on the budget set for it. “The money for this has been separated and should be more than enough to buy the item. However, if you are short on money, please inform me or Eliott so we can make some adjustments.” You nod along.
“And finally, this is the paper for the material ordered for the last costume. I already told the fashion design club president to send them over to your dorm.” Taking the last paper from his hand, you looked over the material. Most of it was black clothing, some hints of golden would be added along with a deep rich green. Other than that, the majority of the costume’s theme would be black. You hum, “Seems like they had something in mind just not enough time to execute their idea.” Reading further, you pause, and once again you feel your eyes widen. “Is it for the same prince?!” At this, Rollo sighs, a small smile on his lips. He had already expected that reaction.
“Yes, this was the last costume they didn’t get to as the material they requested took a while to arrive. Once it did arrive however, they were already flooded with work from their regular clients.” That familiar cold hand was placed on your hand this time. And once again, your eyes meet his piercing green ones. “I know this is a lot of pressure to put on you. But I am confident in your abilities to make this work.”
His tone was soft, so soft in a way that you nearly melted by how warm his words were. Gulping, you faced him away, afraid that he would see your flustered face. It felt nice having someone else rather than your parents see and value your work. Even if Rollo hasn’t seen any of your works, he was putting a lot of faith in you.
You wouldn’t let him down.
“A-Alright…sure. I can do this. Just try not to think of him as a royal. Think of him as if he were another celebrity coming for a party…yeah.” Rollo chuckles in the way he only allowed himself when he was alone with you. This caused you to blush even more in embarrassment. Looking back at the paper you were handed, you noticed something missing.
“Hey Rollo…do you happen to have a picture of him? The others in the fashion club may know what he looks like but I need a reference if I want to make his costume.”
Not even the fire in the fireplace could keep the chill that swept the room as Rollo tensed. His hands were already cold but somehow, they got even colder at the mention of the picture. Weird…that was the same reaction he had when you asked for one in the hallways that morning. Pulling his hand away from you as if you had burned him, Rollo looks away.
“Right, a picture.” Bitterness coated his tone as he once again opened his black folder and pulled out the picture you requested. He handed it to you with hesitance, almost as if he didn’t want you to see it at all. Once the picture was in your possession, you took a glance at it and gasped in surprise.
The prince looked…very out of this world.
His pale skin was glowing, green eyes sharper than anything you have ever seen, and very rich in color. His black hair went perfectly with his face, framing it with unfair beauty. But his horns caught your attention. They were black, elegant and so very beautiful in a way that made you feel honored.
“Wow…he sure is tall.”
But you didn’t voice this. There was no need to voice it when you truly didn’t feel the need to boast about the prince’s beauty. Rather, you wanted to admire it like you would admire anything beautiful that caught your attention.
But if it were Rollo you were to boast about, you would do it day in and day out. Never getting tired of describing him to anyone who was willing to listen for he was the fairest in your eyes.
“His horns add even more stature to him.” You said as you placed the picture down and gave Rollo a small smile. “I will do my best to present a costume worthy of being worn by a prince.” Rollo huffs, his purple handkerchief covering his face once again. “You don’t need to add unnecessary pressure on yourself. He will probably only wear it once during the ball.”
“Precisely! He may only wear it once, but I want people to look at it in amazement and think ‘Yeah, the students at Noble Bell College really outdid themselves in everything!’ and who knows, maybe the Fashion Club would be able to get more clients.”
“But wouldn’t it be unfair to you since you are the one making the costume?” Rollo asked, lowering his handkerchief a little to reveal his nose. You shrug, “I don’t mind, It can be a way of me repaying some of what NBC has given me.”
Giggling, you placed everything in a neat pile and put it away in your bag. You were so concentrated in what you were doing that you missed the way Rollo looked at you with tenderness in his eyes. Just as you finished putting the last of the papers away, the door opened with Eliott and Jules entering along with a few of the other council members.
“Well, I gotta go and get started on this. I will text you if I need anything else or if I need help.” Patting his back gently, you give him one last smile. “Have a good day and please try to get some rest.” You hesitated for a moment, you wanted to do something, something that has been at the back of your mind for the last few months but decided not to.
There were too many people in the council room and you didn’t want to put Rollo on the spot. Plus, making him uncomfortable wasn’t something you wanted or ever wished to do. So instead, you gave him one last pat and bid him goodbye.
***
Something was bothering the white haired boy, and you couldn't figure out what it was.
Placing the almost finished pants on the table, you stretched your limbs, a few pops from your bones could be heard, making you wince. Great seven, you must have been sitting in that hunched up position for a while. Blinking your tired eyes, you stand up and go to your bed. It was time you took a break from sowing, your fingers already felt stiff. Sitting on your bed, you grabbed your phone and unlocked it.
You planned on looking up some videos regarding the Masquerade that was going to happen next week along with some tutorials in how to ballroom dance. Yes, you will admit that you sucked at dancing, and yes, you will also admit that you wanted to learn mostly because you wanted to dance with Rollo on the day of the ball. A light blush coated your cheeks at the thought of dancing with him.
Just as you tapped on the app that was the YouTube of this world, the device in your hand buzzed before a notification popped down on your screen. All you managed to read was the name of the boy you had been thinking about before springing out of your bed and clicking on the message.
Rollo: Are you busy? I need to discuss a few things with you before tomorrow
With no thought in mind, you quickly grabbed your jacket, put on your shoes and grabbed your dorm keys before exiting. You typed your response as you walked out of the building where the dorms for the girls were located and made your way to the familiar path to where the student council room was.
You wondered what Rollo needed.
____
Rollo was pacing back and forth, the sound of his shoes somewhat comforting him. He could feel the eyes of both his vice-president and secretary on him, no doubt looking at him with worry. He ignored them, the thoughts in his mind louder and more evident than their worry for him. “Can you repeat what Headmage Crowley wrote?” He said, voice coated with irritation. Jules, his secretary, nods, his black long hair swaying along with his head movement.
“Estimate Class President, Rollo Flamm, I would like to thank you for allowing ten of our students here at Night Raven College to attend the yearly Masquerade ball held at your school, Noble Bell College. Now, while I know that it is of no concern to you or NBC in general, I would like to request for you to invite two more students which in reality would count as one as both share the enrollment because of certain issues.” Jules paused, casted a glance at Rollo, and continued to read.
“As I mentioned, the reason they share the enrollment together is because one of them is a sort of monster that appears as a cat. And the second reason is that the other is a magicless human who had been summoned by the schools’ Dark Mirror.” At this, Rollo sighs. “Another magicless human summoned in Twisted Wonderland…” Jules nods, “It seems that Yuu is in the same situation as [name], both were summoned by the schools’ magical artifacts.”
“Not only that, but both are from a different world.” Adds Eliott, his amber eyes looking at the letter over Jules’s shoulder. “Great Seven…” Once again, magic was behind this. Pulling innocent people away from their homes against their wills. Truly, it shamed him for being a magic user. Which was why he didn’t understand why [name] wouldn’t show any resentment towards it or him for that matter.
You had every right to hold anger at the school and magic in general, if magic didn’t exist, then you would still be at home with your family. Not here, in a place where you didn’t even exist. Much was the same for Yuu.
“Continue.”
“Yuu’s circumstance is special as he is not from this world. For the past few months, we have been searching without rest in ways to send him home. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find anything yet. I am relying on this information to you because I trust you will be able to keep quiet about this and because I am requesting your help. I have not asked for RSA’s help for reasons you may already suspect.” Jules continued on to read Crowley’s letter, his tone getting more stern as he continued.
“Which is why I am asking to extend the invitation to the Masquerade to both Yuu and Grim. If you cannot, then I understand. Please consider this as much as you have to, Dire Crowley.” Finishing the letter with a tired sigh, Jules placed it back on the desk. The three students stayed silent, too much on their minds to properly make a sentence. Clenching his jaw, Rollo pulled out his phone and quickly sent you a message. He knew it was late and that you were either working on the tasks he gave you or getting ready to sleep. Either way, he felt a little guilty for requesting your presence so late in the night.
But this was important, he needed to tell you that you weren’t the only one who fell victim to the magic of this world. Tangling his fingers together, Rollo placed them under his chin and frowned even more. “We will help them since [name] is in the same situation. So we might benefit from them as well. However, we won’t tell them of her situation yet.” Last thing he needed was to bring attention to you.
That was the last thing he wanted or needed.
“Also, add both Yuu and Grim onto the list of people invited. I will make sure to tell [name] to make a costume for the two of them as well as booking them in the same wing the NRC and RSA students will be staying in.” Jules writes everything Rollo is saying, his hand moving fast as the letters appear on the notebook neatly. Eliott leans forwards, a small frown on his lips.
“Will we be informing her of this?”
“Yes, I messaged her to come here in order to discuss this.”
Eliott nods, then pulls out his computer, the bright light illuminating the rather dark room. Even with the burning fire on the fireplace, the council room had gotten dark. Looking at the flames, Rollo feels bitterness crawl up his throat. Glancing at the palm of his hands, he could almost feel his lifeless body in them.
He can’t let that happen to you, not you. It had been months since he met you, much less got to actually know you. You were strange in a way that left him craving for more. Whether it be your smile, your laughter, even your voice, it gave him a certain peace he hadn’t felt in a while. But it was only temporary, soon you will leave this wretched world and return to yours as it should have been months ago. Rollo couldn’t allow himself to get attached to you.
Because if he did, it would hurt even more letting you go.
He doesn't think he will have the strength to let you go if he allowed you to get near him.
Rollo wasn’t a fool, he could see the way your eyes would light up whenever he told you a small piece of information about him that wasn’t related to school. He noticed the way you would always choose to keep him company during lunch time or how you always seemed to request his tutoring in order to understand certain subjects in your class despite having other classmates who were more than willing to lend a helping hand.
And he certainly wasn’t a fool to not notice the way his heart would do weird flips each time he was near you. Or how his stress levels would go down with just hearing your voice, or how much he craved to hold your hand and intertwined your fingers with him each time you walked together. He tried to suppress it, but even he was weak when it came to his desires. The most contact he could get was escorting you with your elbow intertwined with his, or when he gave you encouragement like earlier.
It was for the best if he didn’t indulge himself. He didn’t deserve to even be near you, not when his magic could taint you. Rollo didn’t want you to die or get hurt by it, and no matter how much he tells himself that he won’t lose control of it near you, his mind always makes up the worst case scenarios. His hands were filthy, and that was something that will never change.
A light knock against the door snaps him out of his thoughts. Before he could even think, his body began moving towards the doors, and opening them. Your face greets him with a small smile. You are no longer wearing the school uniform as he is, instead, you are sporting a pair of leggings, a shirt too big for your frame, and lastly, a familiar jacket.
“Hey, you need to talk about something?” Your voice was soft, mindful of the time and place you were in. Nodding, Rollo tries to push the image of you wearing his jacket. The same one he had left in your dorm when the both of you had a study session. “Yes, please come in.” Moving aside, he opened the door wider and let you come in. Almost as if by second nature, you took a seat to the left of him.
“Good evening, Eliott, Jules.” His secretary looked up from his work and gave you a smile. “Hey, [name], sorry to call you this late.” Eliott nods, “It’s important and we thought it would be better to discuss it now rather than later since all three of us will be flooded with work starting early in the morning.” He added with an apologetic smile. You nod in understanding, a relief expression on your face.
Closing the doors, Rollo casted a quick silencing spell. Just in case anyone wandered up and heard them. Sure, the council room was on the bell tower, however, many students tended to go there during the night, especially student council members. Rollo didn’t want rumors going around, and he didn’t need anyone to know of the information he was about to release to you either.
For your and Yuu’s safety.
“Alright, now that you are here, I will release information that should not leave this room under any circumstance.” He said, his eyes on you. “This is regarding your current situation.” At this, you posture tenses, brow furrowing in worry. “Did you find more information or a way to return to my world?” Your tone was soft, but Rollo knew better. It held uncertainty and fear behind it.
This made him frown, why would you be afraid? “No, however, there might be another school who will be willing to help us if we help them.” Suspicion rose in your eyes, lips pressed together into a tight line, you leaned forward. “What kind of help are they requesting? And what school is offering their help? More importantly, how do they know about my situation?”
Whatever fear you had vanished into thin air, only leaving enough room for unanswered questions.
“Jules, please prepare some tea and light snacks. Eliott, pass the letter that Headmage Crowley sent.” Opening his black folder, Rollo casted you another look. “And please make yourself as comfortable as you can [name], this will be a long night.”

Until I Found You Pt. 1
Tumblr media
[Pt. 1], [Pt. 2], [Pt. 3], [Pt. 4], [Pt. 5], [Pt. 6]
Since the event had came out, I had seen nothing but Yandere content of Rollo. Now, don't get me wrong, I like it but I also wanted to balance it out by adding in fluff and healthy relationships. Yes, this will have spoilers from the event, so beware. And while it is based on the event, there are some things I changed in order to make it fit better with the story line, so some will be my own creation. The Reader is not Yuu, she is her own person and have no connection to NRC. Thank you and please do read on!
Warning: Reader is hinted to have family issues, Reader is female, she is 18 years old since I am assuming Rollo is the same age considering that he is a third year and I wanted them to be around the same age range. This will be a series, but I am not sure in how long I will make it, probably all the way to Book 7 of the game. Two Oc's will be presented as the vice-president and secretary. Also, this is unedited, you may find grammar mistakes, hopefully not to many.
Characters: Rollo Flamm, Eliott Dupont (Vice-president), Jules Monet (secretary)
Summery: Being transported to a different world had not been part of [Name’s] plans, but neither was it to stay in it, yet here we are. She isn't complaining though, not when she has Rollo Flamm as company.
______________________________________________________________
Above into the horizon, you could just make out the first rays of sunlight kissing the night sky goodbye. The rays casted a warm and golden blanket around you, making you feel the warmth of the new day. This was how you started off your days in Noble Bell College, it was the only thing that you could consider normal in your terms. Even after being stuck in Twisted Wonderland for three months, you could not get used to the magic the city provided, or how their world was so different from yours. Sure, there had been similarities that brought you comfort, such as the sunrise you were witnessing. The sun’s warm rays kissed your cold skin gently, some of the heat bouncing off the golden bell that was behind you.
The Bell of Salvation, it had been something you had stared in amazement the first time you saw it, even more when it rang and its magic swept the entire city in its protective embrace. While you may not be used to the magic of this world quite yet, you found comfort by just being in its presence. It was as if you had some connection to it, but you reasoned that it was mainly because it had been the first thing you saw when you opened your eyes.
Bringing the thin blanket closer to your body, you sigh. Even if this world was so much different than your old one, you didn’t mind it. It’s not like you lost much in your old world. Family or friends were nonexistent to you before coming to NBC. There would be no one to grieve you or to look for you, not that your parents would put the effort into it. You wouldn’t be surprised if they just named you an unsolved missing persons case. At this, you chuckles, who would have thought you would end up like that?
Not that it bothered you, on the contrary, it brought you amusement. You always thought you would go out in a normal and boring way. Maybe die of old age, maybe you could fall down some stairs and break your neck, or you could be run over by a moving vehicle. Those were things you were prepared to expect, but not jumping into another dimension. That was for story books, fictional worlds that blended in with the worn out pages of your favorite books.
You tug on a loose piece of threat in your uniform, mind deep in thought. You had thought about finding a way home when you learned about your situation. And it had kept you somewhat motivated for a while before realizing that you were just wasting your time. It hadn’t hit you until last night as you poured over a book from the school’s library. Why were you even trying so hard to return back? Sure, it was the world you were born into, the one you belonged in. But, there were no sentimental attachments that made you want to go back quickly. You were an only child, your parents often left you alone while they traveled for work, and you didn’t have friends as you preferred the silence that accompanied you since birth.
Looking at the worn out notebook that the student president gave you for your personal notes, you sigh once more. Should you just tell the headmage that you wish to stay? The staff at school were helping you find a way home, and since you had no desire to continue the search, it would be better to stop them. You didn’t want to waste their time for something you don't even want.  But if you do stay, where would you go?
You were a magicless person, just because you were suddenly transported into a magical world didn’t mean you got some magical powers. Not that you wanted magic, you would have no clue what to do with it. But back to the original point, you wouldn’t be able to stay at NBC as it was a school for future mages, there was no place for you in this school. You could stay in the City of Flowers as it was the only place you were actually familiar with, but then there was the situation of where you would live and how you would be able to earn money for yourself.
You were lucky the school was the one taking care of your expenses as they had to make themselves responsible for you. Still, the majority of the reason the school was paying for you was because of the student president. You had lost count in how many times the older boy had helped you. From tutoring you so you could keep up with your classes to showing you around the city so you wouldn’t feel lost.
And while you do appreciate his help and efforts, you couldn’t help but feel like he was putting you at arm's length.
Rollo Flamm, student council president, honors student and roll model was an enigma to you. Ever since he found you underneath the Bell of Salvation, he had made it his personal mission to make sure you were comfortable and that you would be able to process the fact that you didn’t even exist in this world. He had been there every step of the way for the last three months, to which you truly were thankful.
Without him, you would have been just as lost as you had been when you woke up. But no matter how much you tried to thank him, Rollo simply told you that it was his duty to protect those vulnerable and that if he could help, he would. You couldn’t help but feel like there was something more to it. However, it was none of your business, so you let it be.
Even if you wish to get to know the white haired boy more.
Flipping one of the pages of your notebook, you read the messy handwriting. Some of it was readable, other parts not so much. Flipping to the next page, you pause at a small drawing you had done not so long ago. It was just some flowers, nothing too specific, but one always caught your attention.
One that you couldn’t help but always draw in red ink.
Soft footsteps along with the creaking of the old wooden stairs snapped you out of your thoughts. Closing the journal and placing it inside your student robes, you cross your legs and wait for the familiar voice that always manages to ground you. The footsteps reach towards the latch, you hear the soft huff Rollo makes before the creak of the latch door greets you.
“Good morning [name].”
With a smile, you turn around and greet him. “Morning president, how are you this fine morning?” Your voice was carried by the gentle wind, causing it to bounce off the walls of the bell tower. Rollo gives you an unamused look, one that you had grown fond of. To others, it would have looked like he was irritated but you pride yourself in the fact that you could read people like one of your books.
“I’m quite fine, I see that you are the same as always.” Taking a seat in one of the chairs at the corner of the room, Rollo pulls out the familiar basket that you had come used to seeing. Standing up from the edge of the bell tower, you make your way towards the boy and take a seat across from him. You watch him in silence as he pulls out two loaves of bread, some cheese that is wrapped neatly in plastic, some fruit in a container, and finally, freshly made orange juice.
Your eyes followed his hands as he divided the food equally. It was something they had ever since you came to NBC. You adored moments like these ones, it allowed you to spend more time with the boy before your classes began. Plus, even if you did manage to find time to see him, he was mostly busy with his duties as a student. Especially now that the Masquerade that he was planning was close.
Still, you were glad he made time for you.
“Thank you for the meal.” You said softly, waiting for him to finish setting his own food. The first bite was always heaven on earth. Holding in a moan at the heavenly taste of the bread (which you knew he makes himself no matter how much he denies it), and chewing it slowly in order to fully appreciate his efforts. Rollo keeps a close eye on you, not that you notice much as your full attention was on the bread in your hands.
Next, you opened the cheese carefully, knowing how much Rollo didn’t like making a mess of the food. Especially when it was in the bell tower he adored. With a plastic knife inside the basket, you cut off four thin slices, two for you and two for the boy. With a small mumble of thanks, Rollo adds it to his bread, you followed his steps.
Another set of heavenly tastes explode in your mouth with the addition of the goat cheese (which you also knew he made). Both of you ate in silence, only the sound of the birds waking up along with the ruffling of leaves accompanied the both of you. You liked these mornings, even if they were quiet and Rollo didn’t speak much. To you it was perfect.
Finishing the rest of the food along with the orange juice, you clean your fingers off with a napkin offered by the white haired boy. And just like the other mornings before this one, you get to clean alongside him. The peaceful quiet and the morning air put you in good spirits, especially when you share them with him.
“How have your studies been coming along?” The question makes you pause as you wipe the table from leftover crumbs. “They have been well for the most part. I managed to understand the material from last class thanks to you.” Smiling at him, you continue to clean your space. “That's good, if you ever need my assistance, don’t hesitate to reach me.”
You hum in agreement, warmth spreading in your chest. “And you?” You already know what his grades are. After all, Rollo is the top student in the academy and the student council president. You know he is smart, but it doesn't hurt to ask in return. “Same as always.” And his response is short as ever.
Looking at him while he busied himself packing away the utensils you used, you let yourself really look at him. His skin looked pale as ever, but it wasn’t as if it was unhealthy. Even with his paleness, he still had a healthy glow. However, when you looked into his eyes, you noticed how his eyebags seemed darker. At this you frown, was he getting enough sleep?
Knowing him, he was probably getting the bare minimum of rest.
Suddenly, his green eyes glance up at you. “Have you been getting sleep?” You asked. Rollo merely huffs as he always does whenever you ask a question that seems meaningless to even ask. “I have, why do you ask?” You raised an unimpress eyebrow at him. “Because I know the Masquerade you have been planning is next week, I know you want the students from the other schools to have a good time. Adding on to the fact that you still have to keep up with your other responsibilities.”
Instead of calling him out on his bullshit, you simply hid your worry and asked him about the Masquerade as an excuse to ask him about his health. As you had made note about it earlier, Rollo is an enigma that keeps you at arms length. While he spends time with you, he doesn't bother getting to know you or lets you ask any questions regarding him other than ones related to school work. Still, you made it work somehow, even when it still left you more curious about him.
“The Masquerade is going on as planned…” Rollo paused for a moment, his face gaining that familiar scowl he seems to always wear when something irritates him. “However, the costumes I had ordered for our guests won’t make it on time.”
“Why is that?”
“The student incharge of sending the request apparently forgot to do the actual sending.” Rollo sighs with an eye roll. “And now it’s too late to send the request.” His green eyes shone in the morning sunlight, allowing you to see just how pretty they were even with the anger swimming in them. To you they will always be as breathtaking as the first time you laid your eyes on them. “And then there is the matter of sending out the final invitations and finalizing the number of rooms we will spare for NRC and RSA students.”
You watched carefully in how he began to pace in the small room in the bell tower. His black shoes made a sharp click-clack with each step he took. The red transparent sash-like on his hat swaying along with him. The rays of the sun just made his sharp features stand out even more, truly, no painting or picture would do him justice.
You let Rollo rant even when he says he doesn't need to rant about his responsibilities. The sound of his voice soothes you, you liked the sound of his voice. Even when he talked about studies of your classes you shared, you truly didn’t care what the topic was about as long as you could hear him speak.
“I can help you if you want.”
Startle, Rollo turns to look at you with those piercing green eyes. He blinks a few times, letting your words process in his head. “Help me?” He asked after a few seconds of silence. You nod your head, a smile on your lips. “I can help you with all three things if you want.” Rollo blinks again, the anger in his green eyes softening into a hidden amusement. “Will you be able to balance it out with your school work?”
You let out a small giggle, “Hey now, I know I may not have that fancy magic that students have here. But I am pretty capable of dealing with things such as invitations, reserving rooms for guests staying over for a couple of days, and designing costumes.”
An unreadable emotion crossed Rollo’s eyes, the soft, hidden amusement vanished as the familiar anger took over. “You don’t need magic.” The bitterness in his tone startled you. While you were used to hearing him sound annoyed or angry, not once did you hear that kind of tone. Nor have you ever seen his eyes burn with so much distaste. “The students in this school along with the ones coming here all rely on magic like fools. Even with simple things such as writing or cooking, they always need the assistance of magic.” He turns to face the wall, the beginnings of a sneer forming on his lips before covering it with his purple handkerchief.
You stare at him, uncertainty pooling in your gut. You had known Rollo had something against magic, even when he was a magic user himself. He didn’t voice it, but you could see it in the way he hardly used it unless it was necessary such as his classes or homework. And when he spoke of magic, he tended to avoid the conversation, even when Eliott and Jules, his vice-president and secretary, praised him for learning a difficult spell or told you of his unique magic. Rollo never once bragged about his magic.
He simply covered the lower half of his face with a handkerchief and looked the other way.
You wanted to ask him about it, but never did. You could see and feel how that was a can of worms that Rollo was not going to open with anyone, less alone someone he just met. And you weren’t sure if you wanted to even open that can of worms, not if it meant pushing him or losing that little trust you work hard to earn from him.
Instead, you did what you were best at.
“Well yeah, but I didn’t mean that I was useless without it. I just meant that I know how to do those kinds of things since back home, I used to help my parents with stuff like that.” Coming from a rich family meant making events to put the family in a good light. Which made you responsible for helping with invitations and booking rooms for the guests that would come along.
“Writing invitations and making last minute bookings are no problem for me. As for the costumes, I can make them! I’ve done that before!” The anger in Rollo’s eyes dimmed, “...Will it interfere with your school work?” You shake your head, “Nope, I finished everything ahead of time since I wanted to have the day free for the Masquerade.” A light blush covered your cheeks. You didn’t mention that the reason you wanted that day free was because you wanted to spend it with him.
“You mentioned that you had experience with it, how come?” Glad that Rollo was no longer angry, you begin explaining. “Well, my family is kinda like a big name in the fame industry. My mom is an actress while my dad is a singer. Both tend to throw parties every couple of months, so I get stuck with making invitations and bookings for the people invited. It’s not hard for me to find good places for them to stay in and I know how to handle clothing situations.”
The lord only knows how much you struggled to get used to it. Even at a young age, your parents’ fame was suffocating. Everything you did was being watched by hundreds of eyes, not once did you have a moment for yourself. You couldn’t go to school like most kids your age, and homeschooling wasn’t as exciting. That was many of the reasons you liked it here in the City of Flowers.
No one knew who you were, no one to target you because of your parents, no heavy responsibilities other than doing school work, and being able to hang out with classmates and friends. It was all you could wish for, and from what you could tell, friends help each other. And you wanted to help Rollo, sure, the moody french-man hasn’t called you a friend, but you could tell by his actions that he did like you, maybe tolerated you at best.
Plus, back then, the things you did bored you to death. You didn’t have much of a choice in doing them and your parents never asked you if you wanted to do them. They figured that it would be easier to give them to someone who wouldn’t be able to say no when their assistants were flooded with work. And it's not like you could use school work as an excuse to not do it.
Rollo looks deep in thought, his purple handkerchief no longer covering his face. “Hey, it’s fine if you don’t want me to do it. I mean, it’s a big celebration, one that I heard is done yearly. Plus, NRC and RSA students are being invited for the first time, things need to be perfect.” Fiddling with your fingers, you looked away, missing the soft look Rollo gave you.
“It’s fine, I trust in your abilities. However, are you sure you want to also take over the costumes?” By the time you looked back at him, Rollo was back into wearing his poker face. “Sure! I have done some before when I needed to wear something.” And it was the only thing you could do that made your parents proud. A fashion designer from the great [Last Name} family.
“Just give me their measurements and I should be fine.” You added before the negative thoughts took over. Instead, you stand up and walk towards him, a carefree smile on your lips. “How hard can it be? I am sure it’s only a couple of people.” And just as he has done since you started your stay here, Rollo offers his left elbow. “Ever the gentleman.” Intertwining your elbow with his, both of you make your to the latch.
Rollo huffs in amusement as he opens it and lets you go first. He follows you after he closes the latch and once again offers his elbow to you. Taking it again, the two students make their way down the stairs and into the entrance of the bell tower. Humming a small tune under your breath, you finally let out the smile you had been trying to hide.
Just as both of you walked down the flower path to your first class, the familiar chime of the Bell of Salvation rings. Warm and gentle magic washes over you like the summer breeze making you sigh in content. Rollo hums, a calm expression on his face.
“Very well then, I will let you help me. We only need to send one more invitation as I took care of the others. For bookings, the students from NRC and RSA are to stay on campus in the left wing of the school, the rest of the guests will be staying in different hotels offered by the city.” You nod along, mentally memorizing the important details.
“The list of guest will be sent to you by Jules, you will sort them out into rooms based on their importance.” By the time he finished explaining the way the booking process was going to work, the both of you had arrived at your first period. Students were already flooding the halls, some talking to friends, others trying to do some last studying before their quizzes or tests.
Letting go of his arm, Rollo turns to face you, a small, barely there, smirk on his face. “As for the costumes, we will need a total of 13 for NRC students and 2 for RSA. With all of them combined, there will be a total of 15 costumes needed by the second to last day of the Masquerade as the actual ball will be held that day.” His smirk grew a little bigger once he saw your wide eyed expression.
“Worry not [name], I will make sure you have help along the process. We will also be purchasing the material you will need, so don’t be afraid to request more if you need to.” Opening and closing your mouth like a goldfish, you could simply stare at him in shock. “F-Fifteen?!”
Now, you may pride yourself in designing clothes of any kind, but there has to be a limit! You couldn’t possibly do 15 costumes in one week! Rollo holds his purple handkerchief up to his face, his shoulders shaking as he looks at you with amusement. “I jest, some of the students from the fashion club managed to do most of the costumes. Unfortunately, they got flooded with other requests from the city and were unable to start the last one”
At this, you relax, but smile nonetheless. It was rare when Rollo allowed himself to joke around. “Great seven, you had me scared for a moment.” Poking his chest with your index finger, you laughed. “But I can definitely help with the last one! Just give me the measurements along with a reference picture of the person who will wear it.”
Rollo nods, then pauses. “Picture…?” You nod with a small hum. “Yeah, I need to see how they look like in order to make the costume in their aesthetic. Plus, I need to be able to see which colors will fit them best.” Rollo frowns, a bitter resentment flashes in his green eyes. “...Very well,” Glancing at the clock hanging by the classroom entrance, he mumbles under his breath.
“Just come to the council room once classes are over. I will tell you what you need to do in better detail.” Before you could question him in his sudden change in mood, Rollo gave you a head pat, bidded you goodbye, and turned to take his leave. “Um! S-See you at lunch!” You had spoken before even thinking. Some of the lingering students gave you a glance in confusion. Rollo turned around, huffed, then nodded.
“Yes, see you at lunch [name].”
You took that as your cue to enter your classroom. Taking your usual seat at the back of the class, you sigh. Contrary to what many said about Rollo, he was very expressive. Not in the physical way, but his eyes always let out what he was feeling at the moment. He wasn’t always like this though, back when you had met him, Rollo was hard to read. It was thanks to him getting somewhat close to you that you managed to read him like a book.
And even then, there were certain emotions you couldn’t decipher when it came to him. Still, it was progress, and who knows, maybe you will be able to get closer to him now that you will also be helping with the Masquared’s preparations.
With a delighted hum, you prepared your material for class.
