How did you feel when you got out of bed today? Did you jump out of bed? or did you roll out of bed and reluctantly go about your routine? We all have our own lives, whether it's work or home, there's probably something that you're not happy with. It could be a relationship with a colleague, a piece of work that you're not looking forward to or simply having circular thoughts about a challenging decision. It could be, you feel a lack of energy since that's how you get out of bed and that's completely normal to you. We all have our relative lives. I hope you're well in your life but it's not always easy and you can find yourself putting off conversations, putting off activities, distracting yourself less important tasks, putting off your life. Strangely you know that you will feel better once you resolve the issue but it's easy to let yourself drift along. However, If you focus on what's most important, your default of becomes happiness. Your happiness is not covered with swirling, unresolved thoughts. Just for one second I'd ask you to imagine what your life would be like if you were to take swift action on these thoughts and feelings. Resolve them, play with them, enjoy them. It's quite simple when you think about tasks this way but often we still find ourselves waiting for something, as if doing the same thing you've always done will bring you a different result. Imagine how you would feel if all those loose ends were tied up. How would you feel getting out of bed tomorrow? No loose ends. Completely clear agenda and you are to be able to focus exactly the on the most important task, able to resolve important issues for yourself. It may feel a long way away but in reality the majority of those things are small and can be resolved quite quickly if you take action when it occurs. Make your default setting different tomorrow. Me again. 😁 I've had a bit of a recurring conversation with a few people in the last couple of days and thought it might be helpful to share my perspective. So, what is causing your pain? In this context, pain is what's causing you a problem. It could be work stress, home life, big, difficult decisions or even the most obvious, actual physical pain. You'll likely have something, if not great job. Being on top of this stuff is real freedom. 👌 It's different for everyone though, our knowledge, skill and experience have given us the tools that we use and at the same time also the create the story you tell yourself, about yourself. This can be helpful and logically your success has come from the places that you are most confident. It can also be unhelpful if your story isn't helping you go in the direction you would like but what's the link to pain? I suggest it comes from your reaction to your pain. If you perceive it as a frightening prospect and essentially run away or leave the matter unresolved you're confining yourself to stay where you are. You're stuck with your pain. If this continues for some time it can develop into quite a serious situation, whatever your particular issue. Not nice, disempowering yourself. However, if you see pain as a puzzle, something you need to focus on, something that has a solution that you just haven't found yet, those same thoughts and feelings can turn into the fuel for you to overcome your situation and start to build momentum. A simple mental side step and your situation can change completely. Simple routines and process, maybe a new skill or two can cement this type of behaviour. Imagine that. Pain wouldn't be something you run away from. In fact you'd relish running head long into it because you'd know you have all the tools you need to work it out. Confident you can overcome any barrier that gets in your way. It's not even that hard. Just a few simple tools and everything will change. Honestly. Hope you find that helpful. 'Fear stops you from becoming you'. . What do I mean by that? . When I look back over my life, to the times when I had choices that seemed more important, like moving house, new job or a big risk I've became stuck. . I thought about those things lots of times . I thought about how I might improve myself, how I can get ahead or get more money. . When I've looked back big the decisions they have a long tail of procrastination. It's ultimately meant that I've just wasted time. . Fear played a large part in those choices. . What if it goes wrong?.. but all it really did was stop me moving forward. . What if I'd made the choice when I first had the choice? What difference would have that have made to my life now? . I certainly would have moved faster but probably made more mistakes. . I would also have learnt a hell of a lot more about myself and be significantly more effective at what I do. . So, next time you've got a decision to make I encourage you to stop and think about it. . Which choice is the one to take you where you want to go?... Which choice is going to keep you stuck? . Here's one for my running buddies to upgrade your run. . So, If you're anything like me, when I used to go out for a run sometimes the first phase could really grind, sometimes the whole run! Especially if the weather was a bit bad or I didn’t really feel like it. . Something I’ve been doing for a while now I crossed over from my meditation practice to see what happened. . So, on the first part of my run, when it usually grinds, I focus on my breathing, take nice deep breaths and control them, after about a minute of this, I then focus on my surroundings, letting my eyes be curious of the environment that I am running through. Not too fixated on things, I just keep watching the environment as I move through it. . By now I’m a few minutes in, here I start to appreciate all the great reasons why I love running so much and the benefits I will receive for doing it. Getting fitter, faster or achieving a goal I have set myself. . After that, I still keep these habits going and my mind feels quite clear and calm at this stage and its the time when I can get some real clarity on the things I need to know, how to solve any problems I might have or some super exciting ideas :) . ...and that’s IT, no extra effort just an upgraded run. . I also take notes on these things on my phone as soon as I finish my run as then they are collected ready for me to use later. . Give it a try and let me know how it goes. I’d love to know what you find. . Hope you're having a great day! Hope this resonates with you. Let me know what you think. Ever found yourself a but stuck? Waiting, procrastinating, putting things off. Not moving forward, not getting where you want to go. You're thinking alot about the future. So much so, sometimes it keeps you awake. Sometimes you worry and these thoughts just role around in your head. A perpetual cycle of thoughts. Unresolved. It can be tough. There is a simple solution though and you already do it but, if you're stuck, probably not enough. It's decisive action. You've done it before. Up popped the issue, you dealt with it. Done. You immediately removed doubts, moved forward and reclaimed all the wasted time you would have used pondering about several spurious outcomes. You also felt great. Maybe a little shakey at the choice you made but overall excited to be moving forward. Just do it more. You will be shocked at just how fast you build up momentum. How many people have you met that do not make decisions that are in their own best interest? Too much food, not enough excerise, no positive direction... Choice is fascinating as we all believe we are making our own best choices but unless you reflect on what is really your best choice you're not able to choose something which is actually the best choice for you. These choices remain hidden from your view and until you are prepared to work out and commit to your actual best self you are making abitary, sometimes destructive decisions. If you feel resistance from a potential choice you know you are in the right space. Be brave, get out of your comfort zone and go for it.
