I’ve been seeing so many posts lately about people being scared listening to the Magnus Archives at night, and this amuses me because I don’t find the series that scary at all.
My first time through I was listening to Robert Montauk rip hearts out at 3AM in a blackout tent by myself in the middle of the woods camping with the frequent rustle of leaves outside my tent. I find Jon’s voice and the ambient background music quite relaxing.

@meep-frog-mari Tagged me in this music game thing.
So the rules are you’re supposed to go to your ‘On Repeat’ playlist, shuffle, and post the first ten tracks.
So, this is what I’ve had on the brain the past few weeks I guess. I have an eclectic taste and a huge affinity for older music, so here’s a bunch of songs that were probably written before you were born and some Film scores I like. Mostly I’ve been listening to the Malevolent podcast lately.
God I wish I could post a hundred songs, this doesn’t even take into account so much. How do people do this? I don’t know a lot of people so here’s some tags of people who I’ve followed or interacted with vaguely from one of my accounts.

Does this mean AO3 can finally teach Tumblr how tag filtering works?
Well, if anything else this shows you can’t say that the people running these sites don’t know their audience.
#tagteam#ao3 x tumblr#writing in the tags is fun and I enjoy having basically no algorithm#but by god is the option to block tags useless

I’m from California. Technically the first would have been Pokémon Indigo League/Battle Fronteir, maybe a little Dragon Ball because my brother would watch it on car trips but I never got into it (my brother is an 85 baby and I’m 1999.) i was a massive Pokémon geek, however, I tend to not count Pokemon because it’s the obvious- the series that I really got into and used to watch in two parts on YouTube after school was Sgt.Frog- AKA Keroro Gunsou.
I. LOVE. Sgt.Frog. Popular briefly in the early 2000s- It’s an Insanely underrated anime, so fucking funny. Also has an amazing English Dub. Usually I prefer subs, but this dub is just so good and gives so much in terms of comedy. Great voice cast. (Only 78 out of 300+ are dubbed but I’d still recommend you try both.)
Wildly incompetent Space Frogs try to conquer Earth and then get caught up in our culture. The concept is fun, every character is fun. When I think of funny anime this is quintessential to me. Screw Ghost stories, if you want something hilarious this is where it’s at. I started watching this probably when I was like 10, and it’s STILL funny to me as a 25 year old adult. It’s a great slice of life chaos style series to have on in the background.
My second and third anime were Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha, followed by FullMetal Alchemist and Brotherhood.
I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge Death Note fan. I wouldn’t put it in my top and it was nowhere near my first.
That post about death note being "everyone's first anime" (untrue statement) made me curious and now I want to gather data for science
Can you reblog this and tell me where are you from and what was your starter anime?

I freakin love Jill’s Stars uniform in the RE1 remake. There’s something about the green tinted light as well that makes it look so badass.
Not that there’s necessarily anything wrong with her other TShirts and Crop tops and whatnot, but this is just so classy.

Oh 100%
‘With great power comes great responsibility.’ In MHA the heroes are often presented just as depraved and corrupt as villains would be and yet they suffer no consequences nor hold their peers accountable. There is a clear oppressive bias from the get go that doesn’t resolve and leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Peter would not be thrilled and would certainly disagree with their methods.
He has been known to work with questionable types when necessary (Deadpool being the obvious example), but it’s a running theme that he’s pretty openly antagonistic or passively disdainful of heroes or antiheroes who doesn’t have boundaries as strong as he does. Spiderman garners a lot of respect but he doesn’t always return it- and when he doesn’t he might even go out of his way to be even more annoying just to piss them off and making working with him as miserable as he can without hindering progress, or otherwise gives lectures on why they suck.
I always think it’s funny when I see people try to crossover One Piece with BNHA and Luffy is hanging out with the heroes.
Let me get this straight-
You think the literal outlaw from one of the most blatantly anti government series of all time is going to vibe with the fascism of BNHA?
HAHAHAHAHA! *Points and laughs*
Listen, I’m not saying Luffy would necessarily get along with the villains, but he would definitely be dine and dashing, and stretching everywhere, and when they try to cite him for illegal quirk use he’s going to punch them in the fucking face and run. The Heroes are basically the Marines, be real. His ADHD ass is not sitting around in a school making friends with naively overly idealistic indoctrinated teenagers. Also just the casual racism and enabling BNHA civilians engage in would piss him off.
Actually, Luffy actively makes friends with questionable people all the time. He makes friends with people that he beat up ten minutes ago. Do you know how many people have been killed or maimed by his crew just passively? They’re blowing regular navy guys out of the way like flies by the dozen without a care. Luffy doesn’t give a shit about authority or rules. He led the biggest mass prison break of all time- do you think he was thinking about all the crimes those guys would commit in the future and the people they could hurt? Fuck no. He’s not a hero, he says so himself- he doesn’t want to share the meat. He’s not selfless, he’s selfish and happens to fight like hell for people he likes because he’s kind like that.
All I’m saying is that if anything, if Luffy came across the League, he’d call them stupid to their face, pick up on the weird groomer ass vibes and beat the shit out of All For One, and then for half a corn chip he’d topple the Hero Commission as well because they’re corrupt as hell. Luffy is leveling this whole place down to the ground and forcing them all to reconcile because he doesn’t give a damn about what anyone wants and both sides suck. He would straight up slap half the entire cast of this series.
One Piece is the Antithesis of BNHA. The heroes better pray to god they’re the first to give him a Sandwich.

I cannot stress enough how important the fifteen second clip of Superman saving a squirrel is. That kindness and love for all life is just so quintessentially Superman that his goodness radiates off of him in that moment.
That is his biggest ‘Save the Cat’ moment in the film for me. There is a monster wrecking shit, and he has the awareness to save a SQUIRREL. That’s the most endearing move of all time. That’s how you get an audience to love a man in a moment.

I love the Frankenstein core of Michael and Gertrude
We all know Michael Shelley is a reference to Mary Shelley, but I think the thematic parallels are also great.
Gertrude Robinson is the Victor Frankenstein to Michael’s monster, and proves herself to be the evil in his story with her inhumanely cruel treatment of him. She took something beautiful and innocent and twisted it into something grotesque and unnatural, and now Michael is a monster haunted by his resentment for her; so much so that his emotions of injustice and pain even get in the way of what/ who he actually is or has the potential to be.
And when you think of Michael by comparison to other avatars and their capacity for morality as well as how they also evolved into monsters, or even compared to Helen, there is a discordance in himself that constantly draws questions to his identity/humanity and the choices he makes. Michael resents himself and his creation to a degree far more severe than Helen, and I think this is not just because Michael Shelley was the antithesis of the Spiral, but because of how he was made and what it caused Michael to Feel. Much like Frankenstein’s monster it is the betrayal and the isolated abandonment that makes Michael’s Emotions so overwhelming it makes existence difficult. Helen didn’t have a problem with Jon because Helen Richardson didn’t. If Michael Shelley were truly gone what sense is there in having a vendetta against the archivist? Why be so frustrated by Michael Shelley’s weakness and insist his existence meant nothing and isn’t present?
Because the Distortion is a liar. Helen has no problems affirming her identity, and yet Michael insists it doesn’t have one. Just like the Monster hates himself and hates humanity. Michael’s hatred for the Archivist mirrors that of the Monster’s quest for vengeance against Frankenstein, and ultimately Michael died because Michael Shelley himself progressively warped into anger during its conjoined existence and it made him a liability.
I also think it could be said that the way Michael is uncanny in his appearance as the distortion, and how he’s essentially a human and a thing smashed together, is a parallel to the Monster- which was an amalgamation of beautiful parts that became disturbing as a whole.
Gertrude, much like Victor, fancied herself a genius with the right to mess with life for the supposed progression of humanity, and do so in a way that I believe stroked their ego and superiority by inflating their importance in the world by imposing the weight of their actions onto their victims- only to be proven wrong for their hubris.
Elias telling her the rituals meant nothing at the end is the climax for her story arc because it puts all of her actions into perspective for the reader, similarly to how the narrative shift to focus on the Monster’s capacity for understanding undermines Victor’s. Their actions resulted in needless suffering and amounted to nothing, and as their creations terrorize they make justifications for what they did as if their good intentions absolve their sins or covering their own ass is a reason to let someone else take the downfall. Then as they die finally fully aware of what they’ve done guilt is primarily tied to regret in being horrifically wrong rather than remorse for the suffering they caused. They lament that their creatures exist but they do not truly empathize with their pain because they are narcissists.
And the narrative of Viktor being an abusive parental figure could also be compared to Gertrude beyond just Michael in how she treats Gerry. Gerry and his relationship with Gertrude, while never soft, could have been perceived as his one attachment and opportunity for something akin to affection- and yet despite understanding the pain of being bound, despite Eric asking her to look after his son, she skinned him to the book and left him. And you could argue that this is probably done to prevent him from turning into an Avatar, but then again she is choosing to play god with someone else’s life.
Who is she to choose and deny him the right to live after leading him right into the hands of the fears, as if for some moral reason when she herself perpetuates the pain of others? And to do so in a way that inherently violates him in a way so specific to his abuse from his own mother, and cram him in the very book that haunts him is beyond sadistic. She proved to be the same as Mary Keay.
The real kicker is that Gertrude leaves him, just like Frankenstein refuses to confront the monster he made and abandons his newborn creation to suffer existence on its own once he realizes what he’s made. And Gerry points this out himself in his statement when he says “I think… I think I finally understand why she brought me back. I just don’t understand why she left me behind.”
And that’s because for all she’s made out to be a badass, she is a coward, as all abusers are. And it sucks because just like with the monster, with that abandonment there is probably not one single person who genuinely cared for Gerry save for Jon, who finally let him die.

She’s an excellent character, but I fucking LOATHE Gertrude Robinson. I don’t see her as a grandma figure, I see her as the despicable and pathetic creature she is. She’s like the opposite of Jon. For all Jon became a monster he held onto his humanity with bloody fingernails, while she wore the title of human like a false skin trench coat hiding a beast. Seeing herself as an agent of justice while feeding her insatiable taste for cruelty and curiosity.
You know that Stupid Motherfucking Jurgen Leitner rant? That’s me but with Gertrude.
Stupid Motherfucking Gertrude Robinson. Thinking you know everything when knowing nothing, ignorant two faced asshole leading people to their deaths, shit ass old bitch terrorist hypocrite Gertrude Robinson. The idea that your life works did little but isolate you for your hubris makes me laugh you obnoxious, book skinning building burning pretentious fucking Mary Keay twin despicable womp womp sadistic loser. I HATE Gertrude Robinson.

PSA: Do y’all remember when we created the DCDP tags so you could stop overwhelming the Danny Phantom feed? If not, here’s a passive aggressive reminder to STOP TAGGING DANNY PHANTOM IN YOUR POSTS!!!!!! It’s a fandom tag, not a character tag- people coming to the DANNY PHANTOM TAG want to see DANNY PHANTOM content, NOT DC CONTENT!!!
This is not a ‘wHy nOt jUsT bLocK iT?’ Moment. I promise you, I have. But DCDP is big enough that it is its own fandom, and Danny Phantom fans cannot go seven posts without having your stuff shoved down their throats or getting filtered banners popping up in their face, and it’s annoying.
DCDP is irrelevant to Danny Phantom 98% of the time. By which I mean you’re basically using another fandom’s concepts as your OCs for the DC universe- and it’s not allowing a fandom to enjoy their own series and characters in their actual context, and it’s RUDE.
I will be the bad guy and step up and say that it’s rude. I am not one who likes to make posts that make me an asshole, but if the idea of people blocking me for my opinions is exciting then you know there’s a problem, because at least then my dashboard will be clear.
And YOU KNOW ITS RUDE and don’t care, which makes Danny Phantom fans way more likely to want to block your content anyways so why?! And I don’t mean filter, I mean I and several others are literally a millisecond away from blocking every user who Posts DCDP stuff because it’s so en masse and irrelevant. - And that sucks, because I am a comic enthusiast who loves DC, and I love Danny Phantom, but they are two different series and their fandoms should be allowed to have their own spaces where they can enjoy head canons and canon content in their own established worlds with their own side characters.
I don’t hate crossovers, but this is not cute in this capacity and you know it because the sheer quantity is its own separate entity at this point. I would be hardcore willing to bet that many people don’t even have a first experience with the series on its own without this crossover on the brain because we are choking on it. I’m not even someone who worships canon, but come on, let us BREATHE.
You are suffocating and massacring a small fandom for a cancelled series that has been hanging on by its bloody fingernails and nostalgia for 20 years, and it’s fucking obnoxious. I can’t even favorite the main tag for one of my favorite series because I will get the wrong content and it SUCKS. Genuinely.
(Side note, have you seen AO3 lately? Where the hell are the Danny Phantom Fics? It’s insane. This is like invasion of the body snatchers but instead DP content is being slowly wiped from existence by DC under its own fandom tag. It’s almost demoralizing but at least we can actually filter there.)
No ifs, ands or buts. No ‘oh this is DP adjacent so I should tag it.’ No ‘This has this character so I should tag it.’ NO. This is not a cute crossover moment. STOP. FOR. THE. LOVE. OF. GOD. USING DANNY PHANTOM TAGS. USE THE DPXDC TAGS!!!
I don’t want to go in a pizza shop, ask for a slice of pizza, and get handed a hamburger. I am being so for real right now, I am begging on my hands and knees, holy shit.
#I’m so done being nice about this. Have some fandom etiquette and self awareness.#dpxdc#dc x dp#dc x dp crossover#danny phantom#danny fenton#DPDC#DCDP

I’m a bit new to this fandom so I’m sure it’s been brought up before-
But one thing that sticks out to me and that I appreciate is the way the Tardis walls for the 9th and 10th Doctors look similar to the Daleks. And I think this is a really cool choice (that I think is intentional) that shows just how traumatized, depressed, and angry they are as a result of the Time War and their extreme loneliness.
I know the roundels aren’t exactly new to Tardis walls, but the exact spacing, color scheme, lighting, and the way they are segmented is uncanny. And even the center console from the top down looks a lot like the Dalek’s camera with the ringed disks surrounding the tube.
