Can we talk about his devastated Will must have been to hear his friends had moved on to another party less than a couple months after he left?

We get that shot at the end of season 3 with him donating his DND stuff cause he couldn't fathom being in another party without Mike, Dustin and Lucas (and ofc max and el but we've only seen him play with the guys).

Then come to find out (not from Mike, either through El telling him after one of Mike's letters possibly saying so or lucas/Dustin managed to catch him on the phone at some point) all 3 had joined another party so quickly and were ecstatic about it.

DND was always THEIR thing. They're a party which is made clear throughout the show in multiple references (e.g. scene with max and Mike in the gym s2, the painting Will did in s4 of the party in the middle of a quest).

It must've absolutely broke him to find out his friends were able to create another party without him whilst he gave up his favourite past time (one that he was the only one left seemingly enjoying during and post Season 3/pre season 4) cause he couldn't imagine playing without his best friends.

Anyone think the choice of Mike calling pineapple on pizza in S4 "blasphemous" is intentional.

I remember reading a post on here likening the fact about it being a "fruit" on pizza and then cutting to Will could be a metaphor for being gay (cause being fruity is a phrase commonly associated with being gay).

And I just think the idea of Mike calling it "blasphemous" of all things (blasphemous meaning "sacrilegious against god") could be a nod towards his internalised homophobia. Its very likely that he grew up some kind of Christian and told being gay is a sin. Now he's having these new feelings and it's confusing him and causing him pain. Its very likely that during this inner conflict, the idea of god and this message of being gay being wrong and sinful has come across Mike's mind more than once.

I could be completely reading into this (I mean I call stuff blasphemous that is definitely not as a joke a lot, I think I'm hilarious) but I thought it was still and interesting word to use when they could've just used gross, disgusting etc that honestly still fits with the internalised homophobia viewpoint.

My favourite proof that Mike wheeler is queer is the one way sign pointing towards his closet. Its so fucking funny to me and if I had a wardrobe in my room I'd re-create it so fast.

Once stranger things has finished I need a documentary about the behind the scenes and the storyline of it to shut up all the homophobic fans who think Mike would never like will or that he's "definitely straight". I need them to prove they've been planning byler for years now.

I fear media literacy is dead because I can tell Mike wheeler is very queer coded, but it's like unless Mike states outright he's gay, it means he's straight and wills just gonna end up heartbroken.

Which is another thing! Why would a TV show about the freaks of society being normal and allowed to be happy exploring and sharing who they are, allow will to have such a sucky ass ending. Wills literally the main character and ur telling me the duffers would happily leave him to have no relationship with the boy he's been in love with whilst said boy goes on to create the typical white American family with el?? NO, IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE! and even if they did add a new character for Will to be in a relationship with (e.g. chance) it would still not make sense!! Even Robin got last season to build up a relationship for her but for will he just gets thrown with a random guy and gets over Mike within a season? No!!!!

El also doesn't deserve that ending. Her whole life, she was brought up in a lab with the only "love" being given was from brenner to his favourite weapon. Then she meets Mike and the gang (who btw, gets asked if he's going to be her brother, very weird way to start off a relationship that's supposedly endgame) in which we find she doesn't even know what a friend is! She gets thrown into a relationship that she doesn't understand because she's never experienced love, let alone anything romantically and doesn't even know what being in a relationship means because Mike never treats it like a proper relationship! All they do it kiss in hoppers cabin, never going on dates, as far as were aware but if they were gonna be endgame you'd think we'd see thay part/them being happy doing something other than kissing. And then we finally see El living her best life when she becomes friends with Max and dumps Mike because she is finally free to do what she wants. Mike is a horrible boyfriend to el in both season 3 and 4, so I don't get why milevens want their relationship so bad. I genuinely can't think of any moment where I was rooting for them because they're so toxic for each other. A relationship in which el feels the need to lie about basically everything happening in california (to do with her) to Mike is not healthy in any shape of form.

This turned into a longer rant than I was expecting but I kept writing lmao. I'm also on summer break from uni so I have a lot of time to put my thoughts together and stranger things and byler.

Accidently started a war in a tiktok comment section on a video about flickergate so now I'm being spammed with people arguing with this one byler denier (and pretty sure he's homophbic but I gave up reading his replies after the third one).

Sometimes I think people forget stranger things is also a coming of age tv show. I think some people believe it's literally just a sci-fi horror when it's so much more than that, and has been since the start. Hence why when byler happens I WILL NOT BE SUPRISED

I cant keep being reminded why I'm a Mike wheeler kinnie

mike clearly wants to be something more. he wants to physically win against something supernatural. he doesn't want to be the sidekick. he feels less than both superman and lois lane

- mike pushes troy down and i saved by el in the end before getting into a fight

- mike can't physically fight when so he gives into his bullies and jumps off the cliff. he would've been dead if it weren't for el

- the little instances of mike grabbing a melee weapon and holding it like a sword

- mike being the one to save el when she was being choked but billy ends up overpowering him anyway, having to be saved by el

- mike throws himself at billy for hurting max and immediately gets slammed to the wall

this is just an odd reoccurring pattern. he keeps losing each time or has to be saved, especially by el, but he still keeps trying regardless. he keeps throwing himself into situations as if he's like el. is the point really just to accept he just can't win? 👀

omg i’m sure someone has already pointed this out, but i LOVE will’s obsession with tigers. i’ve always written it off as a cute thing, bcuz it seems like that’s just his favorite animal or something.

i couldn’t really think of any character analysis or plot related reason as to why he likes them so much… but then i realized that this obsession only shows up in season 4 when he’s in lenora… and the hawkins high mascot is a tiger….

Endgame Couples parallels

The accident : Philip & Lukas

Strange! They are directly paralleling a friendship in which, one is a repressed gay and the other already accepted he was. Two "friends" who overcame homophobia and ended up together in the end. What an accident! Doesn't mean that will be the case for Mike and Will right...

The coincidence : Ron & Hermione

Hmm ok. We know HP2 was on the movie inspo board for st4. So Mike's arrival at the airport is an obvious parallel to Hermione coming back from the Hospital Wing. Hermione has no problem hugging Harry (who we expect her to end up with). But with Ron, she is unable to show him the same affection without making it awkward. Even though she shouldn't have any reason to feel this way. Just like Mike should not feel awkward about hugging his best friend. Unless, like El suggests, "he is acting weird [because] there is someone he likes".

Oh and coincidence! At the very last movie, Ron and Hermione stop repressing their feelings for each other and kiss. But nah, it's just a coincidence, right...

The pattern : Amy and Laurie

Okay if you've watched Little Women you know the Amy-Laurie-Jo love triangle reeks of Will-Mike-El.

Jo/El : The first love interest, the bold woman on a journey of self-discovery and in search of independence. Wants to be free of her need for male validation and become her own person.

Laurie/Mike : The man who feels so much love but doesn't yet realize he's putting Jo/El on a pedestal. Has a dramatic love confession moment, but because he idolizes the girl instead of truly loving her, it comes across as desperate and pleading. He doesn't yet realize his love is misplaced and his heart actually belongs to the girl's sibling.

Amy/Will : The girl's sibling (🤭). The painter, the yearner, has loved Laurie/Mike for so long but has resigned to him never loving them back. Despite this unconditional love, doesn't fear putting Laurie/Mike in his place because in this dynamic, they are on equal ground.

ST writers have confirmed they used Little Women as inspo, and there are scenes supporting this as well.

If you couldn't tell by now, Amy and Laurie end up together. Except this time, it's neither an accident nor a coincidence. This is a pattern. The message is very very clear. This emotional turmoil is going to pay off. Will and Mike aren't repressing their feelings and suffering for nothing.

Just like all these other couples, they will end up together.

I don't know if im reading too much into it or if I'm the only person who feels this way, but having canon aroace characters in fandom spaces can be so frustrating when people start to ship them with another character.

"You know aroace people can still be in relationships right?" YES IM AWARE BUT YOU DO THIS TO EVERY SINGLE AROACE CHARACTER ISTG.

even when they're canon, it's like people just can't fathom that a character isn't going to have sex nor be in a relationship.

And I understand shipping is basic fandom, trust me I know I do it too (literally a byler fan over here) but sometimes I get so mad at aorace erasure and people justifying it by saying that some aroace people date.

This was just a rant, dk if people are gonna see this but it's been bugging me since I saw a comment saying the "they can date" thing in a tiktok comment section a couple days ago.
