James doesn’t like the idea of holidays anymore, not since the war, he usually would be happy that today is halloween, dressing up and being around friends and all that, that should be James. But he isn’t.

Don’t get him wrong he’s grateful that Lily and Harry are safe, that after all they are together as a family, but it would be a lie to say that he wasn’t sad that his son won’t be able to experience this time of the year. Lily is trying her best to cheer him up, bless her, he wouldn’t know what to do without her, she’s the only thing keeping him sane at the moment.

She insisted that they dress up anyway, and as they couldn’t go out they decided on more casual costumes. James is Shaggy from scooby do, Lily is Vilma and Harry is Scooby. He didn’t even know the show existed until Lily (rather dramatically) told him that he was crazy for not knowing the show, she apparently forgot that besides all his charming characteristics he’s still a pureblood.

So there he is now, sitting in his sofa with his wife and son, they’re both falling asleep in James arms, the show they were watching forgotten. He kissed Lily’s temple "we should go to sleep soon" to which only earned for her to snuggle more closely into his arms, taking a very sleeping Harry with her "ten more minutes" at which James laughed but didn’t complain.

The sudden sound of the doorbell snap them out of the moment, both of them looking at each other in worry "don’t panic, I’ll go you stay here, it must be dumbledore" he didn’t know if he said those words to confort Lily or him. Still he stood up from the sofa, wand forgotten somewhere, and walked to the door.

"hey James" suddenly all his worries forgotten somewhere in his brain when his best friend said those words. That didn’t make him curious though.

"hey Pete, what are you doing here so late, are you okay?" he could se as he’s best friends eyes suddenly filled with tears "Peter?" he was beginning to reach out to hug him when he saw it, the one he was hiding from, the one who took away his friends, his family, and apparently he’s comed for his life too. But Peter, oh peter, that means he betrayed him, one of the only persons he thought he wouldn’t, his best friend since he was five.

Marlene was the only one who knew the real dorcas, the only one to know how to control Dorcas’ panic attacks when she had one, the only person to have Dorcas’ complete trust. Marlene was Dorcas’ favorite person in the entire world.

The second Marlene died Dorcas died too, there was no stopping her.

why would they take her? Why did they didn’t take Dorcas with her. There was no world for Dorcas Meadows without Marlene Mckinnon. So she took every mission Dumbledore gave her, no matter how dangerous it was, because what’s the point of living if her only love is gone now? Dorcas knows she’s strong, she could kill Voldemort herself if she wanted to, but what would come after she does that? A world without Marlene in it, no, she couldn’t let that happen. So she fought, fought until that last moment.

So when the time finally came, when she was face to face with the one that killed the only pure soul Dorcas knew she needed to make a choice, she could kill Voldemort and live in a Marlene-less world, or she could die, and see Marlene again. Dorcas didn’t believe in afterlife, but she knew that she and Marlene could find each other anywhere. So when the time finally came, the only thought in Dorcas’ mind, was Marlene.

He’ll miss Remus, of course he will, Remus was the light in his life, since the moment he saw those amber eyes he was lost, oh so lost, he knew this wouldn’t end well but oh, he was magic.

He would’ve loved if Remus had chosen him, he really wishes that was the case, but he knew it wasn’t meant to be, and that’s okay. He only wants Remus to be happy, and if that is being whit Sirius, then so be it. They are meant to be, he knew that from the moment he saw them together. Maybes that’s why it hurts, because he knew, but still hoped it happened different.

Not enough people are talking about how Dorcas left behind her friends to join the order.

Dorcas trying to convince them to come with her because she knew that if the stayed together they would be safe, because Dorcas knows them, she’ll make sure nothing bad happens.

Everything crashing down when they tell her they are not coming with her, how they are going to the other side. How nothing makes sense anymore, because she’s supposed to know them right? Why did she thought they would come with her?

Knowing deep down that she can do nothing about it, and that she probably lost them forever. But oh, that doesn’t stop it from hurting, because they were family and she promised herself that she would be better for them. Doubting if she made the right decision.

Dying wishing things would’ve been different, that she could have save them.Dying trying to convince someone, anyone, to try and protect them. Knowing she wont survive this.

Because they are family right? And that’s what family does right?

do you think James Potter would be unbothered by Regulus meanness? James Potter the boy with an ego the size of a lake but a hearth to match it? Sure he was used to people being mean to him, and he knew how to deal with those people.But don’t you think that it would affect James that his crush was being mean to him? That he wouldn’t stay up at nigh looking at the ceiling thinking about all the things Regulus said to him? That when they finally get together it would take time for James to trust Regulus, to trust that what he was saying was just sarcasm and that he really did care about James truly? It took time for both of them to adjust. To trust.
