before we get an official announcement on who is replacing biden as the nominee, im just going to put this out there: do not mess this up. i don't care how little you like politics. i don't care if this new nominee isn't your first choice.

our alternative is trump. third party splits the votes, and abstaining is just going to fuck the entire united states over. your vote (AND support) matters, and i better see anyone who doesn't want trump to be elected and the United States to become a fascist, authoritarian regime throwing their full support behind this new nominee.

we have three months to go. we're in crunch time. if you don't want to lose your rights, support this new nominee with everything you've got.

edit: just in case this somehow wasn't obvious, this is NOT the post to be a pessimist on. don't say we're fucked. say TRUMP is fucked. we can't go back and change the nomination timeline, but we can absolutely support our new nominee and ensure they get elected.

Thanks for asking! Yes, these are all legit links! I'm not exactly sure who is behind @/wgastrikeunite on Instagram but the post shows a lot of great places to donate.

-The Entertainment Community Fund gets funds to people in the entertainment industry hit hard by the strike—not the actors and writers necessarily but also drivers, below-the-line crew, support staff, etc. (The WGA and SAG-AFTRA have strike funds of their own so this is the best, most central place to donate to other people affected.)

-The Green Envelope Grocery Aid fund is run by a WGA member and is about getting mutual aid for groceries directly to people affected by the strike, both writers and non-writing support staff.

-Groceries for writers from Humanitas is also getting money for groceries to specifically WGA members.

-Pay Up Hollywood is "a grassroots movement that advocates for fair pay, safe workplaces and better treatment for all support staffers and assistants in the entertainment industry." They have a fund for relief to support staff.

-The Pre-WGA strike support group is an account run by people who want to join the WGA and are working in solidarity with current WGA members. They're a good central page for finding other ways to donate/support.

-Jess Morse runs the WGA pizza fund. Buy the picketers a pizza for $10.97!

-Finally, if you want to support the striking writers and rep a cool shirt, 100% of proceeds from these shirts goes to the Entertainment Community Fund! There are lots of shops with pro-WGA shirts out there but this one is run by a WGA member and lots of other members have vouched for it.

So you want to go to the Phantom before it closes

by someone who went 10 times since the show reopened and has spent too much time at the Majestic (but also take this with a grain of salt) 

Going to the Majestic Theater is a lot of fun! It can also be stressful. Here are my tips. 

Buying Tickets

- If you’re putting a lot of work and effort to to get to NYC, just buy the tickets from the website (as opposed to other avenues). Especially if you’re going with others, this is your surefire way to ensure seats. That being said, here are the other ways I’ve gotten seats:

Going alone? Try:

- TKTS - there is a TKTS booth under the big red stairs in Times Square that sells discounted tickets to shows. They literally have always had Phantom tickets everytime I’ve gone, even when all the other shows sell out. I’ve shown up at 7:45 for the 8 pm show that night and gotten fourth row center single tickets for $75. 

- The Box Office - for $59 each, you can sit in the boxes! It’s so close and so cool to sit in the boxes and look down on the action. It is partial view, so the right side can’t see all of Masquerade and the left boxes can see the phantom hiding in the angel, among other obscurities. I had obviously seen the show before so I didn’t care. You do have to speak to the people at the box office to sit in the boxes, you cant get a box seat online. We’ve also spoken to the box office minutes before the show starts and gotten dope orchestra seats for $100.

- Try the Lottery on the Phantom Website! Enter for 1-2 tickets the day before to see if you can’t get orchestra tickets for $40. I’ve never won this way, but I know other people who rely on this method. 

Where should I sit? 

Great question. Center orchestra means you’re in the action, the sound is literally tailored for you, and you get to have the chandelier fall on you. Rows A-K? I believe? are the best - any row letter past this is obscured from above by the mezzanine and so you can’t see the top action as well, including the Phantom pulling on the chandelier and the chandelier falling, which for many of us is the whole damn point. 

Front mezzanine is very good as well. I’ve splurged and sat in the first row of front mezzanine, but saving the money and sitting in the second or third row will give you the same view for half the price. Unless you’re thinking of doing something involving a camera that I would not endorse. 

Rear mezz is fine; there are no bad seats, but if I’m traveling to see this show for possibly the last time I would splurge for front mezz or orchestra. 

Ok…anything else? 

Get the big wine (yes its $40) and take a seat. If you are in the front mezz, sneak down to the first floor and down the stairs to use the orchestra bathrooms, theres literally so many more stalls. Same with the downstairs bar - so many less people in line down there.

OKAY, BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS PICTURE.

The first shot we see is Din leaning back against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. Grogu then curls up beside him to be close to his dad and stay warm.

Cut to this picture and Din has shifted to wrap his arm around Grogu and keep him close by. Not only that, but when I first saw this pic I was like "oh, Grogu has a blanket, that's so cute" and then realised... That's Din's cape.

NOT ONLY IS DIN HOLDING GROGU CLOSE LIKE THE LOVING AND PROTECTIVE DAD HE IS, BUT GROGU IS ALSO WRAPPED UP IN HIS CAPE TO STAY WARM.
