My interpretation of Asha and Star from Wish (2023) based from early concept designs of them

If the Wish writers kept Concept Art!Star the movie would have been more fun. Look at this cute shapeshifter! Just look at them!

I loved Star in the movie, but if Star was left as they were in the concept people would have gone nuts over them.

God I wish they committed to a design that better represents the Amazigh people.. it really just feels like they copped out and went with the generic princess face and this boring ass dress.

She at least deserved to keep her traditional jewelry and ornamented hair..

Disney concept art is almost always more dynamic than the final movie designs..

imagine overworking your already underpaid team of animators, taking "inspiration" from lin manuel's musical style for your movie's soundtrack, and creating the most Disney Movie™️ to celebrate Disney's 100th anniversary just for it to suck major ass and get outsold by the sequel to that one Dreamworks musical film about discontinued children's collectibles from the nineties.

This already led to so much controversy on Twitter, but in my personal headcanon, Asha is Cinderella's fairy godmother but younger, and the movie is her origin story.

Yeah I know. This is not really possible. Asha is black, and the Fairy Godmother is white. It's more probable given the nature of the movie, that Asha is the first fairy godmother and that Cinderella's is just one of those that followed in her footsteps.

The other fairy godmothers, fairy godmothers that Asha herself may had trained if I may add, may had turned the hood that she used as a very important garment for their organization. So, basically a Jedi and the Obi-Wan's robes situation, but in reverse.

But I'm willing to use all mental gymnastics and gaslight myself into thinking the Fairy Godmother was black all along, only because I think Asha becoming an immortal wish protecting sorcereess, is the greatest ending she could have achieved. Much better than just becoming a princess.

To know that this awkward, bumbling girl not only became an awkward, bumbling woman, but the most important, powerful, and loving bumbling woman in the fairy tale world...That's really heartwarming, at least for me, and it makes me super proud of her.

And I think it would be super, SUPER funny, if this woman of all people had the "Lead a violent uprising against the monarchy" as her backstory.
