Beetle Art
Made this for one of my sister's 30th birthday presents, because like me she loves little art prints of bugs.
This isn't fully finished, still have some cleaning up to do, but once I clean it up, I might put it up on redbubble or something like that to sell as a little art print.

Book cover concept test.
I have been trying to think of ideas of what the cover of my book could look like. I am between two minds of liking the more simplistic look, however not knowing whether it is eye-catching enough. Also, I'm not entirely certain on the font or text placement.

About Me.
Hello, I am Katherine (she/her).
I am a writer and aspiring author, as well as an artist on occassion, based in the North East, UK.
I love Tabletop RPGs, and have played a vast amount of D&D 5e, a moderate amount of Pathfinder 2e, along with a smattering of Vampire: The Masquerade, Monster of the Week and a few others. Additionally I am finding my love for anime and manga again with things like Frieren, FMA, Jujutsu Kaisen, The Apothecary Diaries and Yakuza Fiancé
I am currently working on a writing project which is what I mostly post about, whether that is updates or practicing art (with the intention to be good enough to make illustrations to go into the book), and then the occasional aesthetic and meme post.

Recently I have got back to working in traditional mediums again, and have started keeping a sketchbook for the first time in a long time.
Honestly it is probably a way to distract me from trying to figure out draft two of my book. But last year was a whirl wind that I am still trying to get back on my feet from, so I'm not pressuring myself too hard. First things first is to feel happy in myself again, and if that means throwing myself into doing art instead, then that is what I will do.

Draft 1 - Chapter 11

So we are past the deadline but I gave myself an extension, because life happens and sometimes the kindest thing to do is know all you need is a little extra time. This all being said, I am on the cusp of finishing, I have a small amount for chapter 11 left and know that chapter 12 is going to be on the shorter side. I should be able to get it all done tomorrow. If I can do that then I can get it all printed and bound to be able to edit while on holiday. Well at least start the process on holiday, while sitting at a pool and drinking a lovely cocktail.
Hopefully this will be my second to last update for Draft 1.
I am so excited for this to be finished. It will be the first long form story I will have finished, and I am so proud of getting to even this point.

Draft 1 - Chapter 9

It has been a while since I have given any kind of update - not for a lack of working on draft one but having a lot of other things going on in my life. I am resigned from my current job, with the hope of a new one on the horizon, that may pay me something a bit more decent. It is honestly quiet nerve-racking thinking about leaving my current job. In a way I thought I would have been much further along in the book that I am writing when I left than I am, but I simply am unable to handle staying at my current job - anything will be better.
Anyway, back to the actual book progress.
I have gotten to the point of the story where it is all going to have to go to shit in some kind of capacity, and it is harder to figure out and come up with how events unfold next, what characters are choosing to do and how that all reaches the finale of the book.
In many ways I know this first go around is going to be somewhat bad, and I am prepared to hate a lot of what I have written. However, I think I have left myself a challenge for when I do draft two.

Draft 1 - Chapter 8
Page 60
26.03.2024
It has been a while since I last wrote an update on this project, not because I have stopped working on it, but that my work has been sporadic and inconsistent until recently, specifically when it comes to the writing aspect of it. I have alternatively been watching a few different lectures on writing, mainly the Brandon Sanderson lectures from around 2020 that are on YouTube. With the most recent one I watched having some pretty solid tips when it came to revision. Additionally, I have been spending a bit more time planning and refining my idea of what the end of the story is going to be. As someone that is more a discovery writer planning the end has been hard, but I always had an idea of what it was going to be. I recently took a step back and came to the conclusion that it was a rather weak idea, and have come up with a stronger idea for the end.
From spending a bit more time coming up with a plan I have created a solid deadline of 30.05.2024 to complete draft one. I have been working on this for well over a year, and getting closer to the two year mark, so it has got to this point of wanting to have this draft one finished and over with so I can begin the process of revision.

Me and my friend's matching tattoos for our dnd characters that we got while in Texas. I miss them all so much. I wish we all lived in Texas.

The Inkwell - The First One

My friend came up with this idea that all his writer friends to create a discord and give each other prompts to write about. We then have three weeks to write anything to do with this promt, the only fail state is to not write anything. Aftrwards we put it in the discord, everyone reads each others stories. We then explain what we like about it, but also give constructive criticism.
My promt that I got this week was "Paradise is out of space." Which is a super fun concept and I came up with a few different ideas, but I have written a draft one up that I am actually really happy with. It may be even a concept that I come back to once I finish my current big project.

Over this last week I was able to meet up with friends that I have known for over 7 years, but never been able to meet in person. We all travelled to Texas for a wedding for two of them and it has been incredible. Over the time knowing them we have played many different dnd campaigns, the longest having run for nearly 3 years now, and playing that game in person has been so much fun. This week has been one of the most incredible moments of my life, and I can't believe I can't spend all my time with them. Saying goodbye to them all is going to be very difficult.
They have and are the continuing inspiration to the book I am writing. I don't really know how to express that with them.
09.03.2024
I am back in the UK and I miss them already, I know we will still get to play games and dnd with each other, but it genuinely sucks as they are some of my closest friends, just unfortunately not distant wise.
My book is a ways off being completed, but along with my partner I am going to dedicate this book to them. Afterall, without them the story wouldn't exist.
