First and probably final blog:
Microbladed my eyebrows, I didn’t cry, (granted I was on anesthesia and only heard slash felt a slight pulling but still) and now I’m reading fic to console myself while my aunt gets her lashes done
Do I recommend it?
Weirdly yes.
But I got them done in Latin America for $30 something bucks so….(another 30 for the final retouch)

What exactly is ao3 bookmark etiquette? because apparently this is something that has escaped my knowledge. I don’t really write on ao3 much, and like the only times I have I’ve been bullied away by my comment section so.. what am I missing here?
I mean, I personally hate the word "etiquette" in these kinds of situations. It implies that not being an asshole is optional or a courtesy as opposed to the base expectation when interacting with content.
There's a pretty longstanding argument brewing between authors and readers on ao3 as to what should be put in public bookmarks on a fic. Readers argue that they should be able to put anything they want in those bookmarks, including reviews of the fic, ratings, negative comments, etc because they are "a reader's space." Authors argue that, since the bookmarks are attached to their fics and cannot be removed, negative commentary or unsolicited criticisms shouldn't be placed in public bookmarks, only private.
These two groups aren't monoliths, there's obviously some crossover. But largely your opinion is shaped by how you primarily use ao3. This is crystallized in discussions over on r/ao3 which is overall a reader-biased space. Folks there will bend over backwards there to tell you that readers can and should put anything they want in public bookmarks and if you have a problem with that, you're just an ungrateful author.
This is what I call the "bean soup" problem. Some folks use their bookmarks as a record of every fic they've read and want their opinions saved/marked on each fic. They often want to share these reviews with fellow readers who also use their bookmarks as a reading list. They believe that having their honest, critical, opinion centered in the bookmark is more important than being kind to the author or even considerate of their work.
The thing is, it's usually pretty taboo to review/criticize authors (of books, etc) to their faces. Perfectly fine on a site like Goodreads, but leaving a crappy bookmark on a fic is like slipping your handwritten review into a copy of a book the author uses personally. It's just shitty, no matter how you spin it. And you're forced to carry that bookmark around with you everywhere. Anyone who opens the bookmarks can see your rant about how the author sucks and you only give this fic a 6/10 yada yada.

Need a film where the premise is oh!! funky body swap!! between a seemingly perfect f/m couple!! how charming and cute!!
but the the genre changes to body horror, where the guy immediately acknowledges that he’s in the wrong body, and that he hates the way his hips move and his chest feels, and though he thinks his gf is beautiful, there is an inherent wrongness when he sees his own reflection
And then it’s panning over to the gf POV and she’s having the time of her life. She loves the way her body moves and she loves the way her voice sounds.
And for a second the viewer is like… is the message that being a man is biologically better than being a boy?
But the film shows the bf finding trans research in his partners room, and he slowly realizes that his sort of sad at times gf is actually suffering, and that they don’t wear baggy clothing bc they’re modest or shy but bc they don’t like the shape of their body.
And it’s heavy? And it’s serious… and then we’re back to the partners POV and they are having SUCH a blast, and some other side plot shenanigans ensue
And there’s an emotional scene where the partner tells the bf that the way he feels, like an alien invading the wromg body, is close to how they feel all the time.
And the bf is awesome and he’s supportive and he says he wants his body back, and that he wants his partner to have a body they want too
And they KISS
and they switch back to bodies, and the partner cries a bit, and they go back to their own lives,
And the film ends with the partner, transitioned, and happy with their bf
And the pacing is slow, the side plots fill in so it’s not too heavy on this one thing, but it’s very relaxed and intimate and not flashy and it’s also perfectly cast and also has my playlist (minus my pop girlies) and it’s perfection
Any recs anyone

I also think that it’s exactly this element— that Stolas isn’t as invincible as Blitz believed— that makes Blitz feel so secure in their shared future. Like yes, he tried to die for you, that’s a big I LOVE YOU sign but also
That individual who you thought was better than you in every way and would never see you as an equal or need you—
Is actually someone who desperately needs you, and makes mistakes, and gets really really hurt. Someone who can love you, someone who is more a individual than a reminder of your own perceived worthlessness
And it’s the physical aspect that Blitz feared for, but he learned to be patient about the emotional aspect. He sees Stolas grieving his daughter’s presence, sees Stolas lose all the wealth and privileges, and he is empathetic towards Blitz but he’s also getting his worldview reshaped in real time.
It’s just… ugh I don’t even know what I’m saying, maybe just that if Stolas survived and escaped punishment altogether, then Blitz would have known that Stolas loved him but he probably wouldn’t have accepted the love. His self hatred would have made their relationship, if pursued, riddled with tension and insecurity.
(Plus I think Stolas being poor will bring them worlds closer in terms of worldview 😜😜)
I wholeheartedly agree with everyone who has pointed out that Stolas believing he would die in Blitzø's place highlights how oblivious he is to his own privilege.
But I also want to talk about how Stolas wasn't the only one who genuinely believed he, a Goetia, could die in Blitzø's place.
Blitzø's agonised cries are not the cries of someone who thinks their lover is making it out alive 👀

And thats so fair!! (I can’t lie the only songs I truly enjoyed were Percy’s and Cecily’s) i hope you have more fun this time around— and if not, that’s totally fair too, it’s after all subjective 💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰
Bro I don’t even know if the Two Princes fandom is a thing but as someone whose relistened to season one like 50 times I just wanna know did anyone else have a rough time listening to season two? Like season one was immaculate writing, the monologues hit, the character development hit, the script writing hit, but you go into season two and you’re sitting there and there’s just something missing. Like there’s a lack of passion to it all I don’t really get the message of it either! Like season one it’s all about like love is more powerful hate and it had some real world commentary on like younger generations and women being placed in charge of cleaning up the messes of dusty old evil men. Even for like a pg story it had depth to it! But in season two legit don’t know what happened! Listening to it feels like watching a later season of a sitcom that’s been running for way too long! It’s lost its concept! I think I wish it would’ve trusted itself to explore the homophobia aspect a bit deeper! That is an interesting topic that was referenced in season one and could’ve been interesting for them to explore! Instead we have Amir losing his memory and the main conflict stemming from the drama around that instead actual societal issues like in the previous season! Then I get to season 3 and guys I promise you I have tried so hard to listen to season three but then they start singing and I’m sitting here: “Is this a land before time sequel?! Why is it a musical all of a sudden?!”
(Ever notice how ever land before time movie other than the first one was a musical? That’s weird right?)
Anyways! I’ve seen a lot of love for season three so I’ll try again on this re-listen!
Absolutely no hate towards any of the people behind this podcast series it is quite possibly the reason I have such a love for audio stories in general and am currently looking into being in the professional storytelling world! I love the Two Princes I just wanted to share what I personally felt about season two of the show!
One thousand percent go listen to it if you have never heard of it it’s literally amazing! The vocal talent is phenomenal, the production quality is insanely good, characters are so much fun, sound design is literally makes it an experience in of itself and it’s appropriate for all ages!

I love the idea of a creator and the muse but they are disjointed. No longer part of each other’s daily lives but still bone deep critical and the most beautiful thing you ever did was want them and that’s all y write about. that’s special to me. It’s like imagine ur the creator, the writer, and you put it out and you feel desperate bc you’re literally adoring them via art but somehow you can’t text them? Can’t call them?
And imagine your the muse, the listener, and u know it’s about you— how can it not be about you// but if they are making this music then maybe it’s not about you anymore. Maybe it’s just music. Maybe if they actually wanted you they’d call you.
Like ugh. This is why I keep an eye on celebrity drama

Mhhmmm I have to relisten but I liked season 2, I think it’s fun to have the after of the happily ever after, and i appreciated how they didn’t gloss over the fact that their fathers were AWFUL people who only got where they did after serious COLONIZING and EVIL TRAISNOUNOUS shit. I think it showed how out of their depth the boys were, and it showed that the only way to move forward is to have compassion and be willing to listen. I guess for the sake of the podcast they had the whole kingdom destroyed beyond repair to tie it up neater, and that could be criticized, but then again it’s a big topic for a podcast to take on its own. I appreciate how repentant and horrified they were by the reality of their inheritances.
As for Amir being given a Chad mentality, I think sort of does speak on the homophobia of it all. (Besides the obvious Percy uprising and the kingdoms restlessness) it speaks on how if he wasn’t raised to have such distinguished princely qualities, wasn’t raised to lead with compassion, and instead grew up with the average expectations of a man, then he’d be limiting himself bc he, being bi, might never think to explore or even consider outside the heteronormative norms, you know?
Chad existing also adds a dose of reality to these characters. Bc yeah, fighting a snake is scary, killing yourself to save the world is outrageous, and it’s not something innate. Not usually— not like for Rupert or Joan. It is something that needs be to taught and accepted. It highlights the contrast of the two leads. Rupert is innately empathetic and kind and inquisitive. Amir is amazing but that’s bc his mother took great pains to train him to be ready and excel in most of his pursuits. Amir’s skills and talents and mind and beauty is frequently praised bY Rupert and seems to be the general consensus, but this season was about how being skilled and disciplined isn’t enough. Compassion and kindness are traits needed in leaders.
Case in point, the antagonist of the season 2, has literally lost everything, and shes given the dignity of handling it badly— bc SHE LITERALLY LOST EVERYTHING— and perhaps her acts of terrorism, her lashing out, going mad with grief, could have been punished in the podcast but that would defeat the whole point. Compassion, kindness, and empathy being the key. Love being the answer. They are given the second chances.
And bc they hadn’t paid the second chances much screen time they carry this into the third season with Percy Jr. we see him struggle to change and be accepted as the new him. And that’s a reoccurring motif through there. We see the breaking of gender norms with Joan trying to pave a new future.
Season 3 keeps the love is the answer undertones. But it tackles a different discussion. It touches on found family, it screams at the top of its lungs what they started discussing in the previous season which is ‘you can’t run away from grief’. Malkia tried. And Darling tried. But all it does is make it more volatile and crushing. Season 3 fleshed out the characters and had multiple storylines and underlying messages. It bridged relationships and our slave over deep wounds, and it’s hopeful. and that’s so perfectly in character for what the show is trying to do. Change is hard, life hits you over and over, especially if you are unorthodox but think outside the box (redefining the prophecy) and be compassionate (the malkia conflict) and confront the hard shit bc ignoring it makes it worse (literally most of the arcs in the third season).
Anyways, this is my two cents. 100% recommend this webtoon, and on this note I’m gonna go back and relisten to it bc it’s been ages since I last enjoyed it 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
(It’s on Spotify btw)

animation being treated like a genre instead of a medium is something that actually makes me go insane. beauty and the beast is a romance. the emperor's new groove is a buddy comedy. big hero 6 is a superhero movie. moana is an adventure film. the lion king is a drama. treasure planet is sci-fi. if i was talking to someone who hadn't seen these movies before, and they weren't specifically interested in animation as a medium, then i wouldn't necessarily assume they'd enjoy all of these. and that's just disney movies! try telling an anime fan that fruits basket and fullmetal alchemist are the same genre and see how they react!

I have a fic idea of a morally ambiguous Merlin where he uses his powers on Arthur.
The premise is 5 times Merlin confesses to Arthur, is rejected in some way, (except I believe firmly that Arthur fell first and didn’t realize it so there’s a level of denial in there) and quickly wipes his memory/rewinds time (something about needing yo talk about his feelings to the person he loves most…) and the 1 time he confesses and Arthur is ready and returns his feeling— and Merlin— finally is CRUSHED— knowing the limitations of destiny— wipes his memory again (and he’s sad and ansgstt as fuck about it)
My outline/ snippets:
1st time:
The first time was a mistake, or at the very least, the magic mind wipe was never Merlin’s intent. He only wanted to wipe the panic off Arthur’s face. He only wanted to rewind time— and he had, his magic, ever instinctual, had acted without his asking.
(Arthur had been picking a fight and Merlin had snapped that ‘ur lucky I love you’ and Arthur’s face had gone slack and white, rejections tripping up his tongue, and hes stiff with shock and Merlin had panicked and his magic had rushed to the rescue)
This becomes— hence the morally ambiguous element— a slightly more routine thing. Whenever Merlin wants ti vent he’ll vent as much as he can, spilling his guts out, watching the way Arthur’s face changed with every confession and secret, and wvry time Arthur asks a variation of why or how , and every time Merlin says ‘bc I love you’
And in each occasion Merlin learns how to better deliver his words, he catalogues the drastic expression changes on Arthur’s face, and he takes a masochistic satisfaction in knowing that he’s not denying himself anything bc it was never his..
The plus one time…
And then there’s a catalyst, say maybe Arthur is jealous of Gwaine spending so much time with Merlin, and he says something petty and Merlin is curious so he asks, he’s forthright, expecting Arthur to deny deny deny, but he’s emotionally constipaed and can’t say anything and so
So Merlin says I will always love you.
And Arthur will react positively, or return the sentiment in some way, and Merlin will bathe in the moment, and maybe they’ll even kiss (light, adoring,) and Merlin will whisper ‘I’m sorry’ watch confusion fill Arthur’s face when his eyes go gold and he turns back time again
I listened to moon song by phoebe bridgers for the vibes
